Conditions Associated Thermal Regimes Impact On Roads
There are three possible conditions associated thermal regimes impact on roads; they are (a)sustained
winter thermal regime during winter months;(b) fluctuating thermal regimes during autumn and
spring, and (c)sustained thermal regime starting off in spring. The potential impacts of this on flexible
type pavement are as follows;
a. Under maintained below zero temperatures amid winter, and relying upon the predominating
moisture content in the pavement structure and the way of the pavement materials. For instance, frost
susceptible soils, for example, residues and clayey sediments, the sub grade or the pavement layer
may freeze increment in volume and subject the pavement to swelling weights, which inevitably
prompt frost heave. Pavements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fluctuating thermal administration, particularly when de icing salts are applied on the surface,
may prompt scaling at the surface of pavements. By improving the concrete composition for example,
by utilizing air entering agent, higher cement content, lower water cement ratios the effect of de icing
salt can be diminished.
A noteworthy and supported decline in the recurrence of extremely cool days could lessen the danger
of pavement harm brought about by frost heave, freeze thaw cycling and defrosting and could
therefore decrease maintenance costs. Then again, it is not that simple. As winter gets hotter
pavements get more presented to freezing and thawing cycle, prompting premature decay of pavement
particularly to the upper layer of asphalt like cracking and ravelling.
Hence, in areas where roads are usually frozen in winter, a decrease in the number of very cold days
may impact the following;
Potentially, a higher frequency of freeze thaw cycles, causing durability and fatigue problems, and
greater incidence of black ice.
Increased demand for de icing chemicals on account of the higher frequency of freeze thaw cycle,
including potential damage from the adverse effect of repeated application.
Wet surface condition occurring more frequently, allowing more water to ingress the pavement
through cracks with consequential effects.
Reduced bearing capacity as a result of moisture ingress and/or thawing of an otherwise frozen
pavement.
Although a reduced

Improving Economic And Social Status Of A Region
Introduction Presently, changes are being experienced in areas where development projects aimed at
improving the economic and social status of a region are being carried. These changes happen to
affect the environment within which the projects are being carried and they often call for strategies to
be developed by the developing body to make sure that these impacts are reduced significantly (Beer,
Au and Hall n.d.). Despite different development projects aiming at bringing about some positive
changes in the society or in a given setting, studies show that the same projects may lead to conflicts
between the environment and the human activities being carried out in that particular region. Initially,
the campaign for economic growth was viewed as the key for increasing the standards of living in a
given region but very little attention was given to the social and environmental sensitivity and impacts
that accompanied these projects (Chen, Liu and Liaw 2011). As a result, there has been a growing
need to reduce the impacts of the projects as well as making sure that the long term benefits of the
projects are maximized in leading to sustainability of the projects. Therefore, in the case of pipeline
industry, there are a number of impacts that the industry exposes to the environment as cases of spills
may happen as well as destruction of the environment as the pipelines are laid (Even and Porter 2012).
These impacts may be reduced and the sustainability of the projects may be

Changes Between 1775 And 1990 Dbq
The American Founding lasted for 25 years from 1775 1800. During that time the United States
declared and won its independence, a gradual revolution in the economic, political, and social
landscape was begun that was not completed by 1800. There was a nominal change made politically in
America between the years 1775 and 1800. In 1791, the Bill of Rights was ratified. These 12
amendments were designed to protect the basic rights of U.S. citizens, ensuring the freedom of speech,
press assembly, and exercise of religion...etc. America was known for its democratic government but
most importantly seen for its freedom, shown in Document D, ...no man shall be compelled to

After the Revolutionary War, America s society weakened due to deficient amount of money and the
lack of being able to trade. America lost their prime trade partnership with Britain resulting in an
economic decline in American society, but this opened a huge window. Since America has now gained
its independence, they can now trade with the rest of the world. When Britain was under control
America was forced to trade only with Britain. Now that they can trade with the rest of the world set
the foundation for great change in America. Though America gaining its independence opened up
world trade for them, as a new country they had new taxes as well. As the new taxes increased, it
resulted in a national debt because they couldn t rely on Britain to pay it off anymore. America didn t
change much at all economically besides there being the new option for world trade which resulted in
the groundwork for great future change in American

Michael Newdow s Pledge Of Allegiance
I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it
stands, one nation, under Congress, the Supreme Court, the Declaration of Independence, our
founding fathers, and the President, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Francis Bellamy wrote the Pledge of Allegiance in 1892 (Baer). He did this in the memory of the
400th anniversary of Columbus discovering America ( The Pledge ). In 1954, Congress added the
words, under God to the pledge; this was done for the differentiation of the United States from the
Soviet Union during the Cold War.
Recently, there has been great controversy about the words under God existing in the nations Pledge
of Allegiance. Michael Newdow, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Placing God in the pledge was thought of as a term that could be applied to all religions and creeds;
thus, the word God would be describing something more than just material existence.
Building the basis of the United States was the founding fathers of the nation. They were not all
necessarily under a Christian belief; nonetheless, they did wish for the people of the United States to
have morals and values (Williams).
On the contrary, some people do not feel that the nation should follow what the founding fathers
thought and did. Gewertz states, We decide to keep these sayings or traditions in play just because
they were the values of our founding fathers. I have to say that not all the values of our founding
fathers are values I want to embody.
Despite the fact that the founding fathers assumed the existence of an almighty power, they also
protected the right of the people to believe or not. Gewertz does not agree with all ideas of the
founding fathers, but he also says, the phrase under God is in keeping with the intentions of the
Founding Fathers. They anchored their thinking in the idea of a higher law in order to ensure that all
power does not reside in the state. Agreeing with Gewertz, Cameron thinks that the founding fathers
would not be too happy with the way things are going now.
Furthermore, in recognition of the words under God being added to the Pledge of Allegiance,
President Eisenhower told of how thankful he was

Fukushima Nuclear Disaster Research Paper
Prevent Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Disaster
The most extreme way to produce power is by nuclear fission. They do this by splitting single atoms,
Nuclear Energy Institute states ?Nuclear power plants obtain the heat needed to produce steam
through a physical process. This process, called fission, entails the splitting of atoms of uranium in a
nuclear reactor. The uranium fuel consists of small, hard ceramic pellets that are packaged in long,
vertical tubes. Bundles of this fuel are inserted into the reactor.? Power produced this way also has
drawbacks. Producing this kind of power also produces an extreme amount of heat. If the cooling
system loses power the reactor temperature rises dangerously high which will then release radiation,

The reactor was overheating to the point it was emitting radioactive material. The Tokyo Energy
Power Company admitted that they failed to inspect thirty three cooling system equipment for the six
reactors about two weeks before the disaster (NYTimes.com).
The inspection was to see if the Tokyo Energy Power Company could extend the life of the reactors or
to shut them down, which the reactors failed the inspection, but the TEPCO decided to extend the
lives of the reactors according to the NY Times. The NY times also stated ?regulators said that ?
maintenance management was inadequate? and that the ?quality of inspection was insufficient??
(nytimes.com).
The reactors one, two, and three were outdated and soon the rest of the reactors will be outdated. NY
Times talks about how the nuclear operators are deciding whether or not to expand the life of the
reactors since they are almost to the forty year statutory limit. All of the 18 reactors, which includes
the five at Fukushima and 13 more in Japan will turn forty years old in the next ten years

Individuals With Disabilities Education Act Reflective...
The individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) ensures that every student with a disability
receives services. IDEA governs how states will implement the services to the more than 6.5 million
students. IDEA part B governs children from ages 3 21. All stakes holders are included in the IEP
process so that the child may have the opportunity to adjust the services that he receives throughout
their school career. The premise of the IDEA module is the least restrictive concept so students can
integrate with the rest of the school population instead of isolating students from their peers.

He was diagnosed on the Autism spectrum when he entered public education there. He had difficulty

The areas of concern for this student is the following: spelling, rules of writing, social cognition, self
monitoring, independent learning, resists directions, and he needs support to stay on task. This student
would like to find another student to be friends with that would be a good role model. The student
needs good role models and examples of good social skills for school.

How Did Charlemagne Build An Empire
Charlemagne was born around 742 748. Charlemagne s youth suggests that he received practically
training for leadership by participating in the political, social, and military activities associated with
his father court. After his father s death he became emperor and known as Charles the Great. Also he
expanded his kingdom. After his expansion of the kingdom he, died and died of with succession.
Charlemagne as emperor was a zealous defender of Christianity. He gave money and land to the

The Next Christendom Essay
THE NEXT CHRISTENDOM
BY PHILIP JENKINS
A SUMMARY AND RESPONSE
Kyle Sutton
Engaging Reformation and Modern Christianity CH503 XD
December 16, 2011
In the preface, Dr. Philip Jenkins clearly states his thesis for The Next Christendom, Far from being an
export of the capitalist West, a vestige of Euro American imperialism, Christianity is now rooted in the
Third World, and the religion s future lies in the global South .[1] The distinctions of global North and
global South describe the groupings of Europe, North American, and Japan (global North) and Asia,
Africa, and Latin America (global South). [2] This ten chapter book can be divided into two major
sections. In the first five chapters, Jenkins traces the historical ... Show more content on

This Southern church is enthusiastic, spontaneous, fundamentalist, and supernatural oriented. Several
other reasons press the shift to the South. Among these, first, Western nations have largely developed
an egregious attachment to tolerance and materialism. Second, simple population growth is slower in
the West than developing nations. This does not imply that other major religions are not growing in
the South also, the point is: Christianity is growing at an incredible rate in the Southern hemisphere
and in China and impacts the global look of Christianity.[9] If such trends continue, Jenkins claims
Christianity will inevitably become increasingly Southern in style, culture, philosophy, and academics.
So the questions remain: what will Christianity look like when it is no longer culturally European or
Western? Will it still be Christianity in its core? As the church population explodes in developing
nations and becomes more indigenous to those cultures, will there be a conflict of orthodoxy and
heresy like in the early church? Will the church become increasingly poor, libertarian, or spiritual?
[10] In the second half of the book, Jenkins responds to these questions. In Chapter eight, Jenkins
explores the turbulent possibility for horrific violence, war and terrorism along religious lines that
might accompany the rise of Southern Christianity which is already happening and about which the
western public is largely uninformed. Christian growth

Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility Of The Armed...
Executive Summary:
In response to the earlier task where all Senior Stakeholder Relationship Representatives were
required to settle on a strategic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partner for BusComm
Enterprises, Armed Services YMCA of San Diego is hereby presented as the final choice. The
charitable organization offers numerous support services such as assistance to rehabilitate wounded
soldiers, free medical and psychological counseling, and programs to aid soldiers and their families.
This choice is also based on the known deficit of support to military men and women who frequently
suffer from life altering physical and emotional injuries. The Armed Services YMCA is a well
organized and highly rated association, with a rich history of serving since the civil war. It is thus a
suitable strategic partner that fits our organizational goals and desire to integrate precedent setting
CSR practices. This charity also fits our budget and presents a unique opportunity to serve in a barely
exploited area, which will appeal to our shareholders. Conversely, my analysis indicated that Invisible
Children would require higher scaling of resources and commitment in order to make an impact while
their thematic area may be hard to resonate with our audience. Elsewhere, Community HousingWorks
appeared capable of self funding and represented a fairly common CSR partner who wouldn t present
BusComm Enterprises as any different among peers. It was also my opinion that the San Diego Brain

The Impact Of Freedom On Ancient Greece And Modern America
Freedom is an ambiguous term, heavily dependent on the context of time and/or place which,
therefore, means that political scientists are not blessed with a universal definition of freedom to
apply. Instead, they must deduct whether a society is free based on a combination of identifying some
general characteristics, as well as considering constraints that may arise from that society s place in
time or geographic location. Thus, the following comparison of freedom in Ancient Greece and
Modern America will consist of an identification of similar and differing characteristics of the two, as
well as an application of a historical lens that accounts for constraints. Oxford Dictionary defines
freedom as the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance... and ...the
absence of subjection to foreign domination/despotic government . This definition, along with certain
characteristics from the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights such as faith in human rights and
universal respect for and observance of all fundamental freedoms... are prime examples of general
characteristics that political scientists attempt to identify. Considering a society s place in time and
geographic location is equally important, however. For instance, in order to accurately compare
freedom in China and the United States, one must consider the differences in geographical location of
the two and how these differences serve as constraints. Failing to do so may result in

1. Introduction
A variety of concepts and analytical tools fall under the label yield management. The term is used in
many service industries to describe techniques to allocate limited resources, such as airplane seats or
hotel rooms, among a variety of customers, such as business or leisure travelers. Since these
techniques are used by firms with extremely perishable goods, or by firms with services that cannot be

The hotel could sell out all 210 rooms to leisure travelers at the discount price, but it also knows that
an increasing number of business customers will request rooms as March 29 approaches and that these
business customers are willing to pay full price. To simplify our problem, let us assume that leisure
demand occurs first and then business demand occurs. Hence we must decide how many rooms we are
willing to sell at the leisure fare or in other words, how many rooms shall we protect (i.e., reserve) for
the full price payers. If too many rooms are protected, then there may be empty rooms when March 29
arrives. If too few are protected, then the hotel forgoes the extra revenue it may have received from
business customers. Notice we assume that the hotel can charge two different prices for the same
product (a room). To separate the two customer segments with two different demand curves, the hotel
introduces price discrimination. In the hotel example, we assume that the firm can charge different
prices to business and leisure customers 4 . In order to differentiate between these two groups, a firm
often introduces booking rules. For example, a
3
Saturday night stay may be required to receive a discounted room on Monday, since business
travelers are less likely to stay over the weekend. Again, leisure customers are more price sensitive so
the hotel wishes to sell as many rooms to business custome rs at a higher price as possible while
keeping room utilization

This book is about how William Foster produces eleven maps of the expeditions that took place from
Northeastern Mexico during the years of 1689 to 1768. Foster also explains the diary records kept in
each expedition as the Spanish explorers passed through Texas. This book also deals with how the
Spanish had to overcome the Indian threats that arose during the seventy nine years of the Spanish
expedition. The main purpose of this book is to study the routes followed and the important events
that occurred during each of the eleven expeditions that took place in Texas. The book Spanish
Expeditions into Texas (1689 1768) by William C. Foster has thirteen chapters. In chapter One
through Two the author talks about three diaries that were found during the expedition. The first diary
the author talks about is De Leon s personal diary and how it is translated into the English language.
The second is Juan Bautista Chapa s diary account which talks about the history of Nuevo Reino De

who shows great perseverance. In the golden compass, Lyra was noble when she chose to fight with
the master, and lord asriel, who were clearly good. She also was confident because she went to war
with little to no worries. She also showed great perseverance when she never showed that she was

Similarities And Differences Of The Maya And Aztec...
The Maya and Aztec civilizations are two vastly different civilizations, as is to expected, however,
despite these differences, they do share a number of similarities.
To put the obvious aside, one way the Maya and Aztec civilizations are different lies in the political
environment of both civilizations; the civilization of the Maya consisted of city states ruled by an
individual leader who was usually male, while the Aztec civilization were city states and conquered
territories ruled by one leader. However, it is within this difference that a similarity between the two
lies. While the political environments of both civilizations are indeed different, there is a similar
element contained within the two. Both the Maya and the Aztec were influenced by the Olmec
civilization through trade this includes not only artistically and religiously, but also politically; in the

Another difference between the two lies in the economic climate of the two civilizations; the Aztec
were conquers that took prisoners of war and collected tribute from the peoples they conquered, which
gave them access to more resources and presumably wealth than trade alone; the

How Does The Allman Brothers Band Relate To The Midnight...
The song Midnight Rider by The Allman Brothers Band captures the spirit of Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn because it is about a man on the run. The song Midnight Rider relates to
Huckleberry Finn, both are about a man on the run from the law. In Huckleberry Finn, Huck and Jim
are running from the law. Jim is a runaway slave who is owned by Mrs. Watson. This relates to the
song because the book is saying how Jim doesn t want to be caught by the townspeople or he will be
locked up even tighter. The song is about a man on the run with determination trying to get free from

Unforgiven Film Techniques
Unforgiven is an incredible movie directed and produced by Clint Eastwood. Clint Eastwood also
plays the lead role as William Munny. Unforgiven revolves around a pig farmer who has long retired
from his outlaw and killer ways; however, due to the daily struggles of the west, Munny needs money
to support his children. Unforgiven is relevant to the class due to our studies of the settlement out
west. The three literary devices best captured in Unforgiven are setting, plot, and characterization. The
first literary device Clint Eastwood effectively captures is the setting in Unforgiven. The most notable
is the opening scene. In the opening scene we see Munny digging the grave of his late wife Claudia.

Essay On Why College Athletes Should Be Paid
Throughout the years many schools have been caught paying their athletes money when they are not
allowed to. The National Collegiate Athletic Association, or the NCAA, makes billions of dollars
every year because of the popularity of their sports. When the school has a successful season they are
making millions of dollars and as a result, some schools are breaking the rules and they are trying to
pay players and recruits to entice them to come to their school so they can make even more money.
This has lead to a corrupt system and has many people asking whether it would be better to just pay
college athletes or not.
There have been many different times in which colleges have be caught paying their players. Some of
the more recent cases have occurred at the University of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their reasoning for thinking this way is because their names and images are used all of the time.
College sports are the only sporting events in the world that bring in large amounts of money but do
not pay out to its athletes. Many advocates of paying the athletes think that the athletes put in enough
time and hard work to earn a paycheck, and they do not have the time to be employed anywhere else.
The supporter of this issue say that there is not a way of stopping the large companies from cashing in
on the student athletes. Many people in this camp think that the NCAA should not be allowed to call
themselves a nonprofit organization. These people find it unfair that coaches get paid so much and the
players get nothing. For example, Nick Saban, the University of Alabama s football coach, makes 11
million dollars per year (Swanson). Supporters of paying college athletes find it unfair that the
coaches are making so much money while the players are receiving nothing. One simple reason that
they feel that they should be paid is because they are making money for

Communist town. The Author is shooing away is grandson and recalls the time in the late 60 s when
his younger self (Jude Law) stayed at the title hotel. At the time of his stay, the legendary hotel was

Aging Is Defined As The Process Of Aging
Aging John Pickett Mind, Brain, and Intelligence Aging Aging is defined as the process of growing
old but there are many different things that take place during the process of ageing that help define
what aging truly is. We will explore the steps and stages of aging from birth to the end of life. Erikson
s stages of adult development gives a timeline of physical and mental aging in which the ability to
resolve crisis plays a huge role in successful development over the life span. The trust vs. mistrust
stage takes place from birth to 12 months when an infant learns to trust the person who is caring for
them. If rejection takes place during this stage the infant may believe that all people are not unreliable
and have problems with trusting throughout the stages that follow the trust and mistrust stage.
However if the infant feels secure the parent or caregiver has laid a great foundation that carries over
throughout the stages that follow the trust and mistrust stage. As we age this very foundation may
become key in how we handle relationships throughout the duration of our lives. (Hill, 2005, p. 25)
The autonomy vs. shame and doubt stage is from about 2 to 3 years old when we feel the need to
become independent through simple tasks such as dressing and feeding ourselves. Many first time
parents delay the need for independence for their children at this age for fear of them hurting
themselves and the child may develop self doubt. Self doubt

Public Education in Texas
Public Education In Texas
High quality education is a must in U.S. since it means that today s youth will be prepared with the
knowledge needed to tackle our nations issues. When looking from state to state, you will notice how
various states differ in how well they are able to educate students. Maryland was ranked number one
in the nation by having a high grade point average amongst students and an equally high graduation
rate. Texas on the other hand had the worst grade point average and graduation rate. The reason for
this is the amount of funding that goes into public schools. Maryland puts a lot of funding into their
public schools which helps raise grade point averages. Meanwhile Texas puts little funding into public
schools and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That view still stands today as many senators and representatives hold hold mainly conservative
views.
The conservative view of education extends to the parents of the students as well. Salaries for public
school teachers and administrators come primarily from state taxes which has been an issue for them
for years. School faculty has been fighting the state for years to have an increase in pay but that would
mean an increase in taxes as well. So when the parents of the students weigh in they often side with
the legislature since a pay raise for teachers would mean a raise in taxes for them. This is sadly the
same case for funding school equipment such as computers, books, playground equipment, ect.. Since
parents are unwilling to have their taxes raised to pay for all of that, our schools will always fall
behind, leaving teachers unable to properly teach our students.
Another challenge is how often Texas changes its statewide testing regiments. So far it has changed
four times over the past century, TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) was one of the
regiments lasting from 1999 to 2011. The system currently in use and that will end by next year is the
STARR exam (State of Texas Academic Readiness). The testing regiments change constantly because
they do not accurately gauge a students performance. Also the fact that the main goal of the
curriculum is religious and ideological control further hinders the academic performance of students.

Argumentative Essay On Children On God
Dark and gloomy clouds cover the gray sky as rain endlessly floods the planet Venus. No bright colors
are to be found, and great jungles surround the entire planet and never stop growing. In a small school
located on the drizzling planet , nine year old Margot stands apart from her fellow classmates, all of
them waiting for the sun to come out again. 7 years ago was the sun s last appearance, and the children
on Venus eagerly wait for the sun to show itself one more time. However, they don t entirely
remember what the sun is like, except for shy little Margot for whom the other children all hate and
ignore. When Margot describes to them what the sun is like, they don t believe her and think she is
just making it all up. This is because Margot s different, for she lived on Earth 5 years ago and still
actually remembers the sun and its beautiful presence and warmth. Unfortunately, the other children
on Venus hate her for that, for they never got to experience what Margot has experienced. Unlike
Margot, they have lived on Venus their whole lives. Due to Margot s prior experiences on Earth, the
children on Venus act negatively and jealous towards her. This major theme can be shown through
denial, depression, and harassment.
One way the children on Venus act jealous towards Margot is that deny her beliefs about the sun and
think that she is making it all up. Ray Bradbury shows this when he writes, It s like a penny she said

Your heart muscle mass requires oxygen to make it through. A cardiac arrest occurs when the blood
circulation that brings oxygen to the heart muscle mass is significantly reduced or removed entirely
(View an animation of blood circulation). Due to the fact that coronary arteries that supply the heart
muscular tissue with blood flow could gradually end up being narrow from a build up of fat,
cholesterol as well as other elements that with each other are called cavity enducing plaque, this
occurs. This sluggish procedure is referred to as atherosclerosis. When a plaque in a heart artery
breaks, a blood clot forms around the oral plaque buildup. This blood clot can obstruct the blood flow
via the heart muscular tissue. When the heart muscle is starved for oxygen and nutrients, it is called
ischemia. When harm or fatality of part of the heart muscle takes place as a result of ischemia, it is

Childhood Family Relationships
Parental child relationships seem to be linked to the health of an individual as they continue through
adulthood. Relationships that are comforting and emotionally important in a child s life are linked to
better overall health in the lifespan of an individual. In this article review, there will be a continual
referral to the behavior model depicted in Chen, Brody, and Miller s article on Childhood Close

relationships including support, conflict, obligation, and parenting behaviors evolve and change from
childhood to adolescence. These characteristics, when considered in conjunction with developmental

Cultural Difference And Decision Making
Assessment Task 2: Group Talk Assignment
What is cultural difference in decision making and does cultural difference influence decision
making?
In today s quick paced, focused and complex environment, decision making aptitudes are essential
qualities that any management must have. As human being, we are not conceived with impeccable
decision making aptitudes; we learn through skills and experiences that begin our primary school
stages to and keep on adapting through to our expert life. Decision making can be hard and decision
incudes a few clashes or disappointment. Decision making is the process of making a one choice from
number of alternatives and committing to a future course of action. In this multiculturalism world
main question in decision making is cultural difference in an any organization. And does cultural
difference influences decision making.
In an illustrative sense multicultural is essentially a term which depicts the social and ethnic assorted

Uses And Function Of Carbon Nanotubes
Abstract
This presentation will introduce you to the use and function of Carbon Nanotubes in the delivery of
pharmaceuticals in medicine. Nanotechnology is a developing science that involves the manipulation
of materials. This is executed on the scale of fewer than 100 nanometers. The goal of this technology
is to optimise the utility and therefore increase the control of atoms and molecules. This presentation
will explain what carbon nanotubes are, the purpose of using them in the delivery of pharmaceuticals
in medicine and of course how they have improved scientific research so far.
What are Carbon Nanotubes?
Carbon nanotubes are cylindrical in shape and, made up of carbon atoms that have extraordinary
properties. At a singular level, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This relies on the fact that they are hollow and also quite a lot smaller than blood cells. A few basic
structures of carbon nanotubes is shown in figure three. The diameter of carbon nanotubes can range
between less than 1 nanometer up to 50 nanometers. This sizing could also be shown as less than 1.0E
7 cm to 5.0E 6 cm. Although carbon nanotubes have many great qualities, there is one property still
being researched, and this is the toxicity of carbon nanotubes. This sizing could also be shown as less
than 1.0E 7 cm to 5.0E 6 cm. Researchers believe that the toxicity may be harmful to patients and
thus, the use of carbon nanotubes have not yet been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
Purpose of Carbon Nanotubes
One reason for the use of Carbon Nanotubes, as stated earlier, is because of small size. As carbon
nanotubes are extremely small, they are able to move around the blood stream easily. Other uses of
Carbon Nanotubes in the delivery of medicine are their use as channels for biosensors, sheath for
enzymes and transfection in DNA. Carbon nanotubes are said to be the next generation of technology
in drug delivery. This is for many reasons such as its water solubility, it has a highly stable dispersion

High Risk Family Assessment Health Promotion
High Risk Family Assessment Health Promotion
Drug and Alcohol Abuse Substance abuse can occur with legal drugs like alcohol, tobacco and
prescription medications, illegal drugs that are purchased on the street, or prescription drugs used for
reasons other than health. Alcohol is the most frequently used legal drug, and cocaine, heroin, and
marijuana are the most commonly used illegal drugs. Each drug has precise effects on body systems.
Some drugs can lead to acute and chronic problems; some even can cause death. Nurses are among the
few health care professionals who assess and care for substance abusers. As such, they should be
equipped to distinguish the symptoms of substance abuse and put into practice measures to support
and help these people (Bailes, 1998). Substance abuse involving drugs, alcohol, or both is linked with
a variety of negative social conditions, including family disturbances, monetary problems, lost output,
and failure in school, domestic violence, child abuse, and crime. Furthermore, both social attitudes and
legal answers to the use of alcohol and illicit drugs make substance abuse one of the most multifaceted
public health issues. Estimates of the total overall costs of substance abuse in the United States,
including lost productivity and health and crime related costs, exceed $600 billion annually
(Substance Abuse, 2012).

The Cognitive Theory Of Emotion
Based on Tom s feelings of anger, the theory of emotion described in the text that best fits his feelings
at the time is cognitive appraisal theory. The cognitive appraisal theory states that if a person notices a
particular psychological response, that person has to decide what it means before he or she can feel an
emotion (Baird 195). In Tom s case, about halfway through his Milgram s experiment, his heartrate
starts increasing and he starts sweating. He then stands up angry and declares that what is going on is
wrong. He then proceeds to slam his fists on the table and say he will no longer participate. Tom s
reactions are following the cognitive appraisal theory of emotion as he first must process what he is
feeling about his heart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The drive reduction theory of motivation might help explain why Tom walked out. The book states
that departures from the optimal states creates drives (Baird 200). During this experiment, Tom was
removed from his optimal state as he began to sweat, his heartrate increased, he became angry, and
stated what was going on was wrong and he no longer would participate. Nonregulatory drives
involved in the drive reduction theory such as sex or social drives also might help explain why Tom
might have walked out. An example of these nonregulatory drive is a drive to preserve safety
motivates feelings of fear, anger, and even the need for sleep (Baird 200). The reason I chose this
theory of motivation to describe why Tom walked out is not only because of his removal from his
optimal state, but also because the other theories might not be able to explain why Tom left. The social
learning theory emphasizes the role of cognition in motivation and the importance of expectations in
shaping behavior (Baird 200). From the definition of the social learning theory, Tom s importance of
expectations or goals from the experiment were never introduced making it difficult to choose this
theory as we do not know what his goals were as a participant. Central state theory of motivation tries
to explain drive by understanding them as

Joseph Campbell says a hero is someone who undergoes a departure, where the person is confronted
with a problem that they must overcome; a fulfillment, where the person finally overcomes the
problem; and a return, where the person passes on what they gain and learn from the experiences in
the form of a life giving elixir (Campbell). This life giving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Literary Analysis Of Our Town
Aaron Keime Mr. Sissel English 11(B) 3 16 15 Our Town Literary Analysis The play Our Town is
made by Thornton Wilder. It takes place in Grover s Corner, New Hampshire, a very small town. In
Our Town, Thornton Wilder shows us how to live like better by making more time for loved ones and
that live goes by fast. One of Our Town s main theme in my opinion is that life is futile. Almost every
character in the play can be used to support this analysis. Throughout this paper I will examine how
characters support this theme. Another theme that I draw from this play is that time goes by too fast.
Time seems to be an underlying menace the entirety of the play. The first theme that I will discuss is
that life is futile. The first instance of this in Our Town is Joe Crowell Jr. when we are told that he died
in World War I. We learn that Joe goes to college and tries to get an education for his life. But it doesn
t really matter because he dies in the first World War. The play also shows some irony in with Joe that
he can predict when it s going rain but can t predict when he s going to die. Also showing how fast
time passes the play shows Joe s brother delivering papers just like he used to. Life will seem to go on
the same way that it always did even when all these people die. The play actually mentions quite a ...

From George and Emily to even Howie Newsome and Bessie. Most characters in this play have
someone with them. The characters that don t normally do not have very good lives. The Chorus
teacher for example commits suicide for feeling isolated and believing that he failed at his lifelong
dreams. He wanted to teach people how to sing great and have a wonderful chorus but failed. That
made him feel like everything he did in his life was for nothing. The second character is Joe crowell
which spent his live learning and even went to college. But his live ended shortly in the trenches of the

Aggression And Violent Video Games
Running Head: AGGRESSION RELATES TO VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES 1
Violent Video Games Utilization Relating to Aggression
Phyllis Hensel
Montana State University Bozeman
Author Note
I have written this mini paper/literature review to satisfy the requirements in Dr. Matthew Vess s
Research Design and Analysis II course (Psych. 225). I have been curious in the past regarding this
subject, because I have a fourteen year old son that plays a few of these violent video games. I wanted
to know the verities in regards to whether or not playing of these violent video games is linked to
aggression. I learned a great deal of knowledge by my research on this subject, and I think that it
really does depend on the person s age, maturity level, and active parenting skills.
If there are any questions regarding this mini paper/literature review, please contact me at
(riveland3@gmail.com).

AGGRESSION RELATES TO VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES 2
Abstract
Five articles were reviewed to gain knowledge to the question; does violent video game
utilization relate to aggression? Other articles do show conflicts, and will be addressed. The main
article reviewed is written by (Kim, K., Sundar, S. 2013), which reveals that presence , game
controller , and larger screens may enhance the environment around the viewer making it more like
real life for them. These also are related to a higher state presence and

The Character Brett Ashley in Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises
There is a common perception among casual readers who hasn t heard it voiced? that Ernest
Hemingway did not respect women. The purpose of this essay is to examine one work in such a way
as to challenge these heinous assumptions. Hemingway s persona will be left alone. What will be
examined is the role of women, as evidenced by Brett Ashley in The Sun Also Rises, and what, if
anything, it reveals in the way of settling this account of Hemingway as misogynist.
Brett Ashley enjoys a unique position of power in the novel in today s vernacular, she wears the pants
in all her relationships. The feminist perspective, no doubt, will find this true, but rapidly move ...

His love is unconditional.
Mike, nor Robert Cohn, nor the former Lord Ashley loved her unconditionally. They had Brett
wrapped in all types of chains. It is against this regressive mind set that Brett fights. They all want to
own her. But, not Jake. And Jake as narrator is Hemingway s nearest relative. Jake s voice is hardly
distinguishable from Hemingway s own. Given that, I d say the author invented an arch type of
modern man in Jake Barnes. Jake is the friend you can count on. He s the guy, who if he were alive
today, would memorize Bly and bang drums in the woods under a full moon. He s sensitive.
Speaking of sensitive, what is the reader to make of Jake s faulty machinery? The feminist in me
screams, That s the only reason Jake acts the way he does, because he s been neutered in war. Excuse
the graphic nature of this, but Jake is still a man with two hands and a tongue. Having children never
enters into the equation. Brett s no Mommy. In other words, I reject the notion that Jake is less a man
for his injury. He is, it fact, a better man.
The Sun Also Rises is a seminal work from a writer at the peak of his skills. Hemingway, like his
narrator, Jake Barnes, does the work of a journalist. The novel serves as a field report for the societal
changes brought on by the Great War. The role of women in the culture was very much on the minds
of thinking people. It was on Hemingway s mind, and he wrote about it eloquently throughout his

How Did Egypt Created Toothpaste
Did you know that Egyptians invented toothpaste?! You probably didn t because whenever you think
of Egypt you will most likely just think of pharaohs, hieroglyphics, and pyramids, but there is way
more to know about Egypt that everyone should know. Let s start with some history behind Egypt and
how it all started. One of the main reasons why Egypt exist is due to the Nile River. The Nile was
known as the giver and sustainer of life. The river became so sacred that many humans decided to
settle near it at around 6000 B.C. The Nile River provided a seasonal floodings to help yield large crop
growth and immensely increasing the population in process. During the 4th millenium, two kingdoms
soon emerged. The lower kingdom in the north and the upper ... Show more content on

This 1700 year rule of the Pharaohs marked the flourish of growth in arts, commerce, science, and
medicine. One of the most notable architectures to come out of this growth was the pyramids. These
pyramids were made to be great burial tombs to help the Pharaohs achieve eternal life after death. The
first pyramid was built by the first Pharaoh by the name of Imhotep. This was built in Saqqara at
around 2800 B.C. Soon after, the three pyramids at Giza were built. The largest of the three, known as
the Great Pyramid, was built around 2540 B.C. and took about 20 years to build. Today it is the only
one of the seven ancient wonders of the world to still be standing. Due to these pyramids, the wealth
of pharaohs soon started to decline and their absolute power became unsteady. The Old Kingdom soon
collapsed and changed into a rapid succession of Memphis based rulers until around 2160 B.C. This
would soon lead into a civil war between provincial governors. This situation was turned more chaotic
by Bedouin invasions. While this was all happening, everyone was accompanied by famine and
disease. Around 2040 B.C. the Theban king Mentuhotep II defeated the forced of the two united
kingdoms and united Egypt under the rule of

  • 2. Conditions Associated Thermal Regimes Impact On Roads There are three possible conditions associated thermal regimes impact on roads; they are (a)sustained winter thermal regime during winter months;(b) fluctuating thermal regimes during autumn and spring, and (c)sustained thermal regime starting off in spring. The potential impacts of this on flexible type pavement are as follows; a. Under maintained below zero temperatures amid winter, and relying upon the predominating moisture content in the pavement structure and the way of the pavement materials. For instance, frost susceptible soils, for example, residues and clayey sediments, the sub grade or the pavement layer may freeze increment in volume and subject the pavement to swelling weights, which inevitably prompt frost heave. Pavements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fluctuating thermal administration, particularly when de icing salts are applied on the surface, may prompt scaling at the surface of pavements. By improving the concrete composition for example, by utilizing air entering agent, higher cement content, lower water cement ratios the effect of de icing salt can be diminished. A noteworthy and supported decline in the recurrence of extremely cool days could lessen the danger of pavement harm brought about by frost heave, freeze thaw cycling and defrosting and could therefore decrease maintenance costs. Then again, it is not that simple. As winter gets hotter pavements get more presented to freezing and thawing cycle, prompting premature decay of pavement particularly to the upper layer of asphalt like cracking and ravelling. Hence, in areas where roads are usually frozen in winter, a decrease in the number of very cold days may impact the following; Potentially, a higher frequency of freeze thaw cycles, causing durability and fatigue problems, and greater incidence of black ice. Increased demand for de icing chemicals on account of the higher frequency of freeze thaw cycle, including potential damage from the adverse effect of repeated application. Wet surface condition occurring more frequently, allowing more water to ingress the pavement through cracks with consequential effects. Reduced bearing capacity as a result of moisture ingress and/or thawing of an otherwise frozen pavement. Although a reduced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Improving Economic And Social Status Of A Region Introduction Presently, changes are being experienced in areas where development projects aimed at improving the economic and social status of a region are being carried. These changes happen to affect the environment within which the projects are being carried and they often call for strategies to be developed by the developing body to make sure that these impacts are reduced significantly (Beer, Au and Hall n.d.). Despite different development projects aiming at bringing about some positive changes in the society or in a given setting, studies show that the same projects may lead to conflicts between the environment and the human activities being carried out in that particular region. Initially, the campaign for economic growth was viewed as the key for increasing the standards of living in a given region but very little attention was given to the social and environmental sensitivity and impacts that accompanied these projects (Chen, Liu and Liaw 2011). As a result, there has been a growing need to reduce the impacts of the projects as well as making sure that the long term benefits of the projects are maximized in leading to sustainability of the projects. Therefore, in the case of pipeline industry, there are a number of impacts that the industry exposes to the environment as cases of spills may happen as well as destruction of the environment as the pipelines are laid (Even and Porter 2012). These impacts may be reduced and the sustainability of the projects may be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There was a nominal change made politically in America between the years 1775 and 1800. In 1791, the Bill of Rights was ratified. Michael Newdow s Pledge Of Allegiance I pledge allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it stands, one nation, under Congress, the Supreme Court, the Declaration of Independence, our founding fathers, and the President, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Francis Bellamy wrote the Pledge of Allegiance in 1892 (Baer). He did this in the memory of the 400th anniversary of Columbus discovering America ( The Pledge ). In 1954, Congress added the words, under God to the pledge; this was done for the differentiation of the United States from the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Placing God in the pledge was thought of as a term that could be applied to all religions and creeds; thus, the word God would be describing something more than just material existence. Building the basis of the United States was the founding fathers of the nation. They were not all necessarily under a Christian belief; nonetheless, they did wish for the people of the United States to have morals and values (Williams). On the contrary, some people do not feel that the nation should follow what the founding fathers thought and did. Gewertz states, We decide to keep these sayings or traditions in play just because they were the values of our founding fathers. I have to say that not all the values of our founding fathers are values I want to embody. Despite the fact that the founding fathers assumed the existence of an almighty power, they also protected the right of the people to believe or not. Gewertz does not agree with all ideas of the founding fathers, but he also says, the phrase under God is in keeping with the intentions of the Founding Fathers. They anchored their thinking in the idea of a higher law in order to ensure that all power does not reside in the state. They do this by splitting single atoms, Nuclear Energy Institute states ?Nuclear power plants obtain the heat needed to produce steam through a physical process. This Southern church is enthusiastic, spontaneous, fundamentalist, and supernatural oriented. Several other reasons press the shift to the South. Among these, first, Western nations have largely developed an egregious attachment to tolerance and materialism. Second, simple population growth is slower in the West than developing nations. This does not imply that other major religions are not growing in the South also, the point is: Christianity is growing at an incredible rate in the Southern hemisphere and in China and impacts the global look of Christianity.[9] If such trends continue, Jenkins claims Christianity will inevitably become increasingly Southern in style, culture, philosophy, and academics. So the questions remain: what will Christianity look like when it is no longer culturally European or Western? Will it still be Christianity in its core? As the church population explodes in developing nations and becomes more indigenous to those cultures, will there be a conflict of orthodoxy and heresy like in the early church? Will the church become increasingly poor, libertarian, or spiritual? [10] In the second half of the book, Jenkins responds to these questions. In Chapter eight, Jenkins explores the turbulent possibility for horrific violence, war and terrorism along religious lines that might accompany the rise of Southern Christianity which is already happening and about which the western public is largely uninformed. • 10. Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility Of The Armed... Executive Summary: In response to the earlier task where all Senior Stakeholder Relationship Representatives were required to settle on a strategic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partner for BusComm Enterprises, Armed Services YMCA of San Diego is hereby presented as the final choice. The charitable organization offers numerous support services such as assistance to rehabilitate wounded soldiers, free medical and psychological counseling, and programs to aid soldiers and their families. This choice is also based on the known deficit of support to military men and women who frequently suffer from life altering physical and emotional injuries. The Armed Services YMCA is a well organized and highly rated association, with a rich history of serving since the civil war. It is thus a suitable strategic partner that fits our organizational goals and desire to integrate precedent setting CSR practices. This charity also fits our budget and presents a unique opportunity to serve in a barely exploited area, which will appeal to our shareholders. Conversely, my analysis indicated that Invisible Children would require higher scaling of resources and commitment in order to make an impact while their thematic area may be hard to resonate with our audience. Elsewhere, Community HousingWorks appeared capable of self funding and represented a fairly common CSR partner who wouldn t present BusComm Enterprises as any different among peers. It was also my opinion that the San Diego Brain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Impact Of Freedom On Ancient Greece And Modern America Freedom is an ambiguous term, heavily dependent on the context of time and/or place which, therefore, means that political scientists are not blessed with a universal definition of freedom to apply. Instead, they must deduct whether a society is free based on a combination of identifying some general characteristics, as well as considering constraints that may arise from that society s place in time or geographic location. Thus, the following comparison of freedom in Ancient Greece and Modern America will consist of an identification of similar and differing characteristics of the two, as well as an application of a historical lens that accounts for constraints. Oxford Dictionary defines freedom as the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance... and ...the absence of subjection to foreign domination/despotic government . This definition, along with certain characteristics from the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights such as faith in human rights and universal respect for and observance of all fundamental freedoms... are prime examples of general characteristics that political scientists attempt to identify. Considering a society s place in time and geographic location is equally important, however. For instance, in order to accurately compare freedom in China and the United States, one must consider the differences in geographical location of the two and how these differences serve as constraints. Failing to do so may result in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction A variety of concepts and analytical tools fall under the label yield management. The term is used in many service industries to describe techniques to allocate limited resources, such as airplane seats or hotel rooms, among a variety of customers, such as business or leisure travelers. The hotel could sell out all 210 rooms to leisure travelers at the discount price, but it also knows that an increasing number of business customers will request rooms as March 29 approaches and that these business customers are willing to pay full price. To simplify our problem, let us assume that leisure demand occurs first and then business demand occurs. Hence we must decide how many rooms we are willing to sell at the leisure fare or in other words, how many rooms shall we protect (i.e., reserve) for the full price payers. If too many rooms are protected, then there may be empty rooms when March 29 arrives. If too few are protected, then the hotel forgoes the extra revenue it may have received from business customers. Notice we assume that the hotel can charge two different prices for the same product (a room). To separate the two customer segments with two different demand curves, the hotel introduces price discrimination. In the hotel example, we assume that the firm can charge different prices to business and leisure customers 4 . In order to differentiate between these two groups, a firm often introduces booking rules. For example, a 3 Saturday night stay may be required to receive a discounted room on Monday, since business travelers are less likely to stay over the weekend. Again, leisure customers are more price sensitive so the hotel wishes to sell as many rooms to business custome rs at a higher price as possible while keeping room utilization ... The Maya and Aztec civilizations are two vastly different civilizations, as is to expected, however, despite these differences, they do share a number of similarities. To put the obvious aside, one way the Maya and Aztec civilizations are different lies in the political environment of both civilizations; the civilization of the Maya consisted of city states ruled by an individual leader who was usually male, while the Aztec civilization were city states and conquered territories ruled by one leader. However, it is within this difference that a similarity between the two lies. While the political environments of both civilizations are indeed different, there is a similar element contained within the two. Both the Maya and the Aztec were influenced by the Olmec civilization through trade this includes not only artistically and religiously, but also politically; in the pyramid temples of the Olmec, special ball courts for a game involving a rubber ball and great skill were used for religious and political reasons, these ball courts, or at least ones similar to that of the Olmec, were also found in the pyramid temples of the Maya and the Aztec and are believed to have been used for similar purposes. Another difference between the two lies in the economic climate of the two civilizations; the Aztec were conquers that took prisoners of war and collected tribute from the peoples they conquered, which gave them access to more resources and presumably wealth than trade alone; the ... Aging Is Defined As The Process Of Aging Aging John Pickett Mind, Brain, and Intelligence Aging Aging is defined as the process of growing old but there are many different things that take place during the process of ageing that help define what aging truly is. We will explore the steps and stages of aging from birth to the end of life. Erikson s stages of adult development gives a timeline of physical and mental aging in which the ability to resolve crisis plays a huge role in successful development over the life span. The trust vs. mistrust stage takes place from birth to 12 months when an infant learns to trust the person who is caring for them. If rejection takes place during this stage the infant may believe that all people are not unreliable and have problems with trusting throughout the stages that follow the trust and mistrust stage. However if the infant feels secure the parent or caregiver has laid a great foundation that carries over throughout the stages that follow the trust and mistrust stage. As we age this very foundation may become key in how we handle relationships throughout the duration of our lives. (Hill, 2005, p. 25) The autonomy vs. shame and doubt stage is from about 2 to 3 years old when we feel the need to become independent through simple tasks such as dressing and feeding ourselves. Many first time parents delay the need for independence for their children at this age for fear of them hurting themselves and the child may develop self doubt. Self doubt ... Maryland was ranked number one in the nation by having a high grade point average amongst students and an equally high graduation rate. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That view still stands today as many senators and representatives hold hold mainly conservative views. The conservative view of education extends to the parents of the students as well. Salaries for public school teachers and administrators come primarily from state taxes which has been an issue for them for years. School faculty has been fighting the state for years to have an increase in pay but that would mean an increase in taxes as well. So when the parents of the students weigh in they often side with the legislature since a pay raise for teachers would mean a raise in taxes for them. This is sadly the same case for funding school equipment such as computers, books, playground equipment, ect.. Since parents are unwilling to have their taxes raised to pay for all of that, our schools will always fall behind, leaving teachers unable to properly teach our students. Another challenge is how often Texas changes its statewide testing regiments. So far it has changed four times over the past century, TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) was one of the regiments lasting from 1999 to 2011. The system currently in use and that will end by next year is the STARR exam (State of Texas Academic Readiness). However, they don t entirely remember what the sun is like, except for shy little Margot for whom the other children all hate and ignore. When Margot describes to them what the sun is like, they don t believe her and think she is just making it all up. This is because Margot s different, for she lived on Earth 5 years ago and still actually remembers the sun and its beautiful presence and warmth. Unfortunately, the other children on Venus hate her for that, for they never got to experience what Margot has experienced. Unlike Margot, they have lived on Venus their whole lives. Due to Margot s prior experiences on Earth, the children on Venus act negatively and jealous towards her. This major theme can be shown through denial, depression, and harassment. High Risk Family Assessment Health Promotion High Risk Family Assessment Health Promotion Drug and Alcohol Abuse Substance abuse can occur with legal drugs like alcohol, tobacco and prescription medications, illegal drugs that are purchased on the street, or prescription drugs used for reasons other than health. Alcohol is the most frequently used legal drug, and cocaine, heroin, and marijuana are the most commonly used illegal drugs. Each drug has precise effects on body systems. Some drugs can lead to acute and chronic problems; some even can cause death. Nurses are among the few health care professionals who assess and care for substance abusers. The cognitive appraisal theory states that if a person notices a particular psychological response, that person has to decide what it means before he or she can feel an emotion (Baird 195). In Tom s case, about halfway through his Milgram s experiment, his heartrate starts increasing and he starts sweating. He then stands up angry and declares that what is going on is wrong. He then proceeds to slam his fists on the table and say he will no longer participate. The drive reduction theory of motivation might help explain why Tom walked out. The book states that departures from the optimal states creates drives (Baird 200). During this experiment, Tom was removed from his optimal state as he began to sweat, his heartrate increased, he became angry, and stated what was going on was wrong and he no longer would participate. Nonregulatory drives involved in the drive reduction theory such as sex or social drives also might help explain why Tom might have walked out. An example of these nonregulatory drive is a drive to preserve safety motivates feelings of fear, anger, and even the need for sleep (Baird 200). The reason I chose this theory of motivation to describe why Tom walked out is not only because of his removal from his optimal state, but also because the other theories might not be able to explain why Tom left. The social learning theory emphasizes the role of cognition in motivation and the importance of expectations in shaping behavior (Baird 200). From the definition of the social learning theory, Tom s importance of expectations or goals from the experiment were never introduced making it difficult to choose this theory as we do not know what his goals were as a participant. • 43. Literary Analysis Of Our Town Aaron Keime Mr. Sissel English 11(B) 3 16 15 Our Town Literary Analysis The play Our Town is made by Thornton Wilder. It takes place in Grover s Corner, New Hampshire, a very small town. In Our Town, Thornton Wilder shows us how to live like better by making more time for loved ones and that live goes by fast. One of Our Town s main theme in my opinion is that life is futile. Almost every character in the play can be used to support this analysis. Throughout this paper I will examine how characters support this theme. Another theme that I draw from this play is that time goes by too fast. Time seems to be an underlying menace the entirety of the play. The first theme that I will discuss is that life is futile. The first instance of this in Our Town is Joe Crowell Jr. when we are told that he died in World War I. We learn that Joe goes to college and tries to get an education for his life. But it doesn t really matter because he dies in the first World War. The play also shows some irony in with Joe that he can predict when it s going rain but can t predict when he s going to die. Also showing how fast time passes the play shows Joe s brother delivering papers just like he used to. Life will seem to go on the same way that it always did even when all these people die. The play actually mentions quite a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From George and Emily to even Howie Newsome and Bessie. Most characters in this play have someone with them. Aggression And Violent Video Games Running Head: AGGRESSION RELATES TO VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES 1 Violent Video Games Utilization Relating to Aggression Phyllis Hensel Montana State University Bozeman Author Note I have written this mini paper/literature review to satisfy the requirements in Dr. Matthew Vess s Research Design and Analysis II course (Psych. 225). I have been curious in the past regarding this subject, because I have a fourteen year old son that plays a few of these violent video games. I wanted to know the verities in regards to whether or not playing of these violent video games is linked to aggression. I learned a great deal of knowledge by my research on this subject, and I think that it really does depend on the person s age, maturity level, and active parenting skills. If there are any questions regarding this mini paper/literature review, please contact me at (riveland3@gmail.com). • 45. Character Brett Ashley in Ernest Hemingway’s The Sun Also... The Character Brett Ashley in Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises There is a common perception among casual readers who hasn t heard it voiced? that Ernest Hemingway did not respect women. The purpose of this essay is to examine one work in such a way as to challenge these heinous assumptions. Hemingway s persona will be left alone. What will be examined is the role of women, as evidenced by Brett Ashley in The Sun Also Rises, and what, if anything, it reveals in the way of settling this account of Hemingway as misogynist. Brett Ashley enjoys a unique position of power in the novel in today s vernacular, she wears the pants in all her relationships. The feminist perspective, no doubt, will find this true, but rapidly move ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His love is unconditional. Mike, nor Robert Cohn, nor the former Lord Ashley loved her unconditionally. They had Brett wrapped in all types of chains. It is against this regressive mind set that Brett fights. They all want to own her. But, not Jake. And Jake as narrator is Hemingway s nearest relative. Jake s voice is hardly distinguishable from Hemingway s own. Given that, I d say the author invented an arch type of modern man in Jake Barnes. Jake is the friend you can count on. He s the guy, who if he were alive today, would memorize Bly and bang drums in the woods under a full moon. He s sensitive. Speaking of sensitive, what is the reader to make of Jake s faulty machinery? The feminist in me screams, That s the only reason Jake acts the way he does, because he s been neutered in war. Excuse the graphic nature of this, but Jake is still a man with two hands and a tongue. Having children never enters into the equation. Brett s no Mommy. In other words, I reject the notion that Jake is less a man for his injury. He is, it fact, a better man. The Sun Also Rises is a seminal work from a writer at the peak of his skills. Hemingway, like his narrator, Jake Barnes, does the work of a journalist. The novel serves as a field report for the societal changes brought on by the Great War. The role of women in the culture was very much on the minds of thinking people. It was on Hemingway s mind, and he wrote about it eloquently throughout his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the most notable architectures to come out of this growth was the pyramids. These pyramids were made to be great burial tombs to help the Pharaohs achieve eternal life after death. The first pyramid was built by the first Pharaoh by the name of Imhotep. This was built in Saqqara at around 2800 B.C. Soon after, the three pyramids at Giza were built. The largest of the three, known as the Great Pyramid, was built around 2540 B.C. and took about 20 years to build. Today it is the only one of the seven ancient wonders of the world to still be standing. Due to these pyramids, the wealth of pharaohs soon started to decline and their absolute power became unsteady. The Old Kingdom soon collapsed and changed into a rapid succession of Memphis based rulers until around 2160 B.C. This would soon lead into a civil war between provincial governors. This situation was turned more chaotic by Bedouin invasions. While this was all happening, everyone was accompanied by famine and disease.
