Two Associated Systems
Two Associated Systems:
Two associated systems with the eye are the nervous and muscular systems. The eye is a part of the
nervous system because it is responsible for sending, receiving, and processing information sent
through the nerve impulses. The optic nerve is a part of the eye and part of the central nervous system.
As humans, we see something through our eyes and react to it. If we see someone is going to hit us,
we flinch. If we are reading something, or seeing a picture, we see it and process it. By seeing the
world through our eyes, it allows us to react and process our surroundings. The eyes are also
associated with the muscular system; it has a special system of muscles that allow the eyes to move.

If you are born with it, you will have to live with it. However, there is medical research going on to try
to cure color blindness. They are using gene therapy on monkeys to get them to see color. Researchers
hope that one day this will help humans too. Gene therapy helps repair the damaged chromosome that
causes color blindness. If color blindness is caused by something else; like an injury to the eye, old
age, glaucoma, or certain medication side effects, you must treat the underlying cause to fix the non
genetic colorblindness.
Prevention of Diseases: To prevent glaucoma a person should first off know about their family history.
If glaucoma runs in the family, a person can be more likely to develop it. Some other preventative
measures are to go to the eye doctor regularly, take prescribed eye drops, wear eye protection, and
exercise safely. In order to prevent corneal disease one must avoid smoke, wear protective eye gear,
take frequent breaks from computer use, eat food that promote eye health (leafy greens and fish), and
have the eyes screened regularly. By following these preventative measures, not only can a person
reduce the chance of getting this disease, but they can also support good eye

Marx, Mill And Freud s Critique Of Political Economy And...
Describe and assess the explicit (and sometimes merely implicit) notions of freedom and unfreedom
we find in the texts we have read by Marx, Mill and Freud. Use the esoteric traditions we have
examined thus far (from the Book of Job to Plato) as a comparative yardstick, or point of reference,
but without letting them take over the foreground in your paper the latter should be reserved for these
three figures. Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud, and John Stuart Mill are three authors who tackle the topic
of freedom in unique ways, but their messages are fundamentally the same and continue the ideas that
we encountered in the esoteric texts as well as in The Matrix: . First, we have Karl Marx s Capital:
Critique of Political Economy and The Communist Manifesto, where we encounter the proletariat, or
the working class people regarded collectively. In these two texts, the latter of which was co authored
by Frederick Engels, we learn that the proletariat is enslaved just like the people in the matrix. And
just like the people in the matrix, the proletariat is oblivious to this limit on its freedom. That is why in
Karl Marx s view, unfreedom is what we are living in now. According to him, many people think that
abolishing private property through communism is what will infringe on our freedom, but that is not
the case. Specifically, in The Communist Manifesto Marx states, You are horrified at our intending to
do away with private property. But in your existing society, private

Essay On The Oil And Gas Industry As A Supply Chain...
The oil and gas industry is vital to many industries and is of importance to the maintenance of
industrialized civilization itself and that is critical concern for many. Oil accounts for a larger
percentage of the world s energy consumption and the world consumes roughly 30 billion barrels of
oil each year. While society, on a normal day to day basis consumes a large quantity, the demand
spikes when areas are struck with catastrophic situations, such as the two hurricanes that hit this year.
Focusing on the oil and gas industries as a supply chain manager, during the hurricanes, we evaluated
Valero and how they overcame the obstacles they went through during and after the storm. Valero has
headquarters in Corpus Christi and Houston along ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gas supply chain has many phases but can be grouped together as five phases and some being
more invasive then others. All companies in the Oil and Gas industries use the, some slightly different,
process of phases the gasoline takes to be distributed. The first phase that is taken is the domestic and
import of oil that is sent to the refinery, the next 4 steps are the steps that are taken to turn the oil and
gas into a product that can be used for the public and how it is distributed. All phase of the gasoline
supply chain are very crucial and no phases can be skipped over.
Our team went with Valero Energy to research and how they run their day to day operations and what
procedures they take when faced with difficult situations such as hurricanes. Valero Energy operates
two business segments, refining and ethanol and current operate 15 refineries throughout the US,
Canada, the UK and Aruba. Valero Energy delivers its products through tankers, pipelines, trucks, or
rail cars. This company is well known and on the up and up to try and become the largest independent
refiners in the US and currently churns out roughly 3 million barrels per day. The phases taken by
Valero the same as other well known companies but they take pride in holding a lower cost at their
products.
Phase Two of the gasoline supply chain involves refineries manufacturing crude oil into gasoline and
other petroleum products. When severe

Mean s Search For Meaning By Viktor Frankl
Mean s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl Linda Felix Positive Psychology Dr. R. Barke November
28, 2016 The book, in autobiographical mode, relates Auschwitz to the life of the author Viktor E.
Frankl in the concentration camps of the former Nazi Germany. It reports the cruelty in which the SS
soldiers used to mistreat the prisoners and in turn explains how the concentration camp life in the
mind of the average prisoner affected. As soon as they reached the concentration camp, which in this
case was Auschwitz, the prisoner was stripped of his personal belongings and identity documents.
They identified the prisoners with a number. Then there was a first selection that for some would have
a fatal destiny, crematoria and gas chambers. The forced labor of the prisoners sometimes had a
reward in the form of a coupon. This coupon could be redeemed for a dozen cigarettes or a dozen
servings of soup. Usually the vouchers were kept for the soup, but thanks to them you could tell when
a prisoner lost the will to live and smoked their cigars to enjoy their last days of existence. The author
divides life into the field into three phases. Phase one, The Shock. The symptom that characterizes this
phase, according to Frankl, is the shock. As soon as they were at Auschwitz, they received a group of
prisoners who spoke in every imaginable and well fed European language. That is why the prisoners
who arrived thought they could share their situation. They adopt the state of

Barn Burning Essay
Every person reaches a point in their lives when they must define themselves in relation to their
parents. We all come through this experience differently, depending on our parents and the situation
that we are in. For some people the experience comes very early in their lives, and can be a significant
life changing experience. In William Faulkner s Barn Burning Colonel Sartoris Snopes must decide
either to stand with his father and compromise his integrity, or embrace honesty and morality and
condemn his family. This is a difficult decision to make, especially for a ten year old boy that has
nothing outside of what his father provides. Sarty s decision to ultimately betray his father is
dependent on his observation of Abner s character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a boy, however, he doesn t know how to explain the conflict he is feeling and can only take in what
is happening around him.
Sarty has spent the beginning of the trial listening to the proceedings and waiting for Abner to defend
himself. When Sarty is called as a witness, he knows from his father s posture that he, Sarty, will have
to lie to defend the family. The fact that Sarty knows this without even seeing Abner s face shows just
how much time Sarty has spent observing his father s body language and actions. This is reasonable,
and even expected behavior from a child who lives with a parent who is as prone to anger and
retaliation as Abner. We see how desperate Sarty is about his father s willingness for revenge when
they are moving to the De Spain s estate and he thinks to himself, Forever [...]. Maybe he s done
satisfied now, now that he has... (86). But Sarty is unable to admit the truth even to himself, probably
because his loyalty to, and dependence on Abner. Even so early in the story Sarty feels that his father
is doing wrong, but through all his observation cannot condemn the man. Sarty admires the qualities
of independence, courage and conviction in his father but doesn t recognize that these qualities, along
with the righteous indignation that Abner constantly keeps at the ready, are exactly what cause them to

the challenge of meeting needs of those around. The Food Basket Brigade was started in 1988. Since
its beginning, the effort has collected and distributed more than 4 million pounds of food. (The Joplin

Different Definitions Of Leadership, Skills, And...
Knowing one s level of competencies in every area helps in determining whether to keep it up or
improve on the said skills. With different definitions of leadership, different people also view my
leadership skills differently. This is simply because I possess certain traits, skills and behavioral styles
that set me apart from everyone else. Having completed the three surveys which includes; Five Factor
Trait Model, Skills inventory and Situational leadership surveys, a friend completed the Behavioral
Style Questionnaire.
Five Factor Trait Model
After I completed the short form on the website provided, a report was sent shown to me.). The report
estimated an individual s level on each and every one of the five broad personality domains/models.
The models are as follows: (a) Neuroticism (b) Extraversion (c) Openness (d) Agreeableness (e)
Conscientiousness. The Models are also further divided into six (6) facets each. This helped in
explaining the criteria used in arriving at the results of the report. The explanations of the scores from
the report are written below.
For extraversion, my score was high, which indicated me as a sociable, outgoing, energetic and lively
person. It also described me as preferring to be around people most of the time. My level of
agreeableness is on the average. The report that I have indicated me as being unwilling to sacrifice
myself for others. My score on conscientiousness is high, and according to the report, this means I set

the enforcement of their corporate social responsibilities that they have presented to their suppliers at
the same time they must remain competitive in the market place.
If I were dealing with the same issues that Nike experienced, I would have probably done the same
thing that they did. The need to get the suppliers and factories to adhere to save and fair treatment of
the employees along with a decent wage would be my first priority. To openly talk to the press,
customers or whoever would listen and inform then that yes, the ball was dropped and we have
problems, but we are working on correcting the problems and then outline the steps that were being
taken to resolve the issues. I grew up in Oregon and have heard numerous times how the company
started. I know people who work in the corporate office and Nike treats their employees in the United
States very good.

1 Peter Analysis
F. Lecture 19 1 Peter
Word Count: 565
1. Summarize the typical evangelical reconstruction of the circumstances behind the writing of 1
Peter.
The letter attributes the writing to Peter. Similarities in style with Acts and the Gospels seem to
confirm the attribution along with a lack of objections from the early church about authorship. Peter
probably used Silas as an amanuensis, accounting for the Greek style of the letter. The next verse
claims that the letter was written from Babylon , likely a code name used for Rome. This coincides
with tradition and with Paul s correspondence since, according to 2 Tim. 4:11, Mark went to Rome in
the mid 60 s. Thus, Peter is writing from Rome at the beginning of the Neronic persecution before his

What is apocalyptic literature and what distinct rules of interpretation apply to it?
The genre of apocalyptic literature is varied but was well known in the first century and can also be
seen in other Christian and Jewish sources such as Daniel, Ezekiel, Zechariah, Jesus Olivet Discourse,
and portions of 1 and 2 Thessalonians. This type of writing makes extensive use of symbolism,
grotesque and outlandish imagery, and numbers infused with cryptic/symbolic meaning. It was often
written in times of crisis, and can depict past, present, and future events intertwined or leading to
moments of Godly intervention and triumph over evil forces.
Apocalyptic literature ought to be studied and analyzed in light of first century history. The most
important hermeneutical principle we can follow is, to make sense out of the text as a 1st century
Christian in Asia minor would have understood it, and not as a modern 21st century Christians
infusing meaning anachronistically into the text as it is often done. A literal interpretation is almost
always the wrong approach to interpret such

The Pharmacognostic Characteristics between Spermacoce...
Spermacoce hispida L. is one of the important medicinal plants used in traditional systems of
medicine. It is observed that, several times it is difficult to differentiate the plant from the other allied
species from the same genus, Spermacoce, especially, when they are in drug form. Therefore, the
present study aims to document the differences in the pharmacognostic characters, preliminary
phytochemical analysis and polyphenolic contents from the leaves of four species belonging to the
genus Spermacoce, viz. S. hispida L., S. mauritiana O. Gideon, S. stricta L. and S. ocymoides Burm.
Transverse section passing through the midrib with lamina on either sides, epidermal characters, leaf
constants, organoleptic characters, physicochemical analysis, extractive values and preliminary
phytochemical analysis were carried out for all these species. Total Phenolic Content (TPC) by Folin
Ciocalteu method and Total Flavonoids (TF) by AlCl3 method were also estimated from the leaves of
all these species. The results indicated that S. hispida can be clearly differentiated from the other
selected species on the basis of size and number of epidermal cells, size of trichomes, leaf constants,
physicochemical analysis and extractive values. However, it is also found that S. hispida possess TPC
at 6.88±0.34 mg CAE/g and 9.17±0.46 mg TAE/g. TF was at 5.98±0.30 mg QE/g. The study will
provide information with respect to identification and differentiation selected species of genus

The Concept Of Corporate Social Responsibility
The concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been developed for decades and it has been
conceptualized in a number of ways. The business only can get success if there is interaction between
all stakeholders in the company. The business organization of any form whether it is small or large, are
seen as a creation of society and their survival is only dependent on the society. Socially responsible
firms view CSR as a source of competitive advantage by attracting a higher quality and quantity of job
applicants (Fombrun and Shanley 1990; turban and greening 1996). CSR can be defined as that
strategy which manages the business processes to produce an overall positive impact on society. CSR
is a concept in which the company decides how to interact with its stakeholders on a voluntary basis
involving social as well as environmental concern. According to kotler and lee (2005) CSR is an
obligation undertaken in order to improve the welfare of the society through on demand business
application and contribution of corporate resources Management, innovation and trends seem to come
and go like fashion. Ideas and practices are adopted and discarded, change, mutate and re form in an
ongoing process of exchange among stakeholders. (McManus, 2008, p.1068) CSR helps in rapid

Conclusion: Overall it seems that Domestic Dog Homes is financially in an unstable state as it is either
performing reasonably well in order to survive or it is not doing so well is particular areas, e.g. current
ratio and asset turnover.
Part 4: the advantages and limitations of using Ratios
There are several advantages and disadvantages of using ratios to assess and monitor the financial
state of Domestic Dog Homes and they are: The ratios forecast the future: They indicate whether
Domestic Dog Homes will be able to pay its debts and whether it will be able to survive. For instance
the current ratio gives the company an insight of whether it will have enough money to pay back its
debts and whether it will have to gain more money in order to cover the costs of its expenses as well
as its debts. However the disadvantage of this is that these ratios focuses on specific areas of the
company s financial state and does not look at the overall performance hence it is the duty of
Domestic Dog Homes to check whether it is progressing overall. Strengths and weaknesses: The ratios

his wife used to read to and is not happy that they are having him over their house. Even though the
narrator is very similar to Lieutenant Cross in that they both have a connection with someone that
makes them change, they are also very different in the emotions that they go through. These two
characters share many similarities throughout the short stories. They both go through an event that
makes them see things differently. Lieutenant Cross is in love with Martha even though he knows that
she is probably not in love with him. He gets too distracted with Martha and does not really focus at
his job as a lieutenant. One event that changed him was when Ted Lavender, one of his men, died.
This made him realize that he was too distracted by Martha and did not cared enough for his men. He
felt guilty and had to change his attitude towards his job. O Brien states: He would accept the blame
for what had happened to Ted Lavender. He would be a man about it. He would look them

Essay on Vermont Teddy Bear Case Analysis

The Vermont Teddy Bear Company
Almost everybody has had a plush bear when they were young. It s a symbol of tenderness and
gentleness. I personally had different bears made in Germany, China, England...with different forms,
colors and names.
Even if the teddy bear manufacturing is a saturated industry with many competitors, it has not
prevented the Vermont teddy Bear Company to launch its own business.
The Vermont Teddy Bear company (VTB) was created in 1980 by John Sortino. Currently the
company is located in the city of Shelburne (Vermont, USA) and counts 289 employees. Vermont
Teddy Bear Company represents a Business success story, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To take advantage of these opportunities above cited, the Vermont Teddy Bear company thought of
distinguishing himself by different ways (competitive advantages) which are the following: * Its
unique delivery system (The Bear Gram®) uses Direct Marketing by providing you complementary
services. Indeed, the Bear Gram is a system which sends to your recipient the teddy bear of your
choosing with a delicious gourmet (caramel or chocolate) and your own personal message printed on a
colorful gift card in a fun gift box.
With its online website, the VTB Company reaches a larger target group.
* Its Brand image: * Made in USA * Quality handmade * A lifetime and delivery guarantee on every
bear * The possibility to customize your teddy bear (With the help of a Bear counselor) and to buy a
big teddy bear from 3 to 6 feet! These are probably the best things which leave the most important
impact on the customer.
This Brand image was reinforced by its numerous Vermont Teddy Bear advertising campaigns on the
TV and radio. These are especially well done and hilarious in order that people remember the brand.
Thanks to these advertising campaigns, we can see that the main target is males from ages 18 54 who
are looking for a unique gift for the women in their life. 2. Difficulties

Difference Between Virtualization And Client Server...
Virtualization vs Client Server Architecture
1. Virtualization
The term virtualization is the separation of a resource or request for a service from the underlying
physical delivery of that service.
a. Virtualization Overview
Virtualization allows converting one physical server into multiple virtual machines (VM) where each
of the virtual machines (VM) will operate as a unique physical device. The VMs are capable of
running their own Operating System (OS) and working independently. This allows the administrator to
create enough virtual servers to use all of the physical machines processing power. Figure 1 Before
and After Virtualization (Ref: Virtualization Overview, VMWare)
To sum it up, Virtualization means to create a virtual version of a device or resource, such as a server,

Virtualization Advantages and Drawbacks
Let us now check the advantages and disadvantages of Virtualization.
a. Advantages
i. Hardware Abstraction: The service vendors create clusters of hardware consisting of storage,
compute resources like CPU and Memory, networks etc., at a preferred location or at different
locations, and then use virtualization techniques to provide access to these clusters. The customer can
ask for the required capacity which can provided immediately. ii. Scalability: Hardware can be added
to the existing setup anytime. Ina client server setup, whenever hardware was added, there was always
downtime associated to it. This is a major benefit that virtualization brings, because if the
requirements is increasing at a rapid rate, then adding the required hardware can actually keep up
without downtime. iii. Consolidation of Workloads: In a client server setup, most physical boxes are
incredibly under used because of software limitations or usage capacity. But with Virtualization,
resource utilization can be increased by performing load balancing algorithms as the workloads can be
placed on a single piece of hardware reducing the number of physical

company with some of its current employees . The employees we have chosen to interview are
directly involved with at least one of their company s information systems which have further allowed
us to gain a better insight on its procedures and also have a few questions answered. The company at
the forefront of this report is none other than Comerica Bank. The interview we conducted was
extensive and thorough, we examined several findings. First, we were able to examine the type of

The Matthew Effect Rhetorical Analysis
Wayne Gretzky skates down the ice with the puck, he fakes a shot, the goalie falls for it, Gretzky
shoots, he scores! This is a common occurrence for Wayne Gretzky, a former NHL player who holds
the record for most career regular season goals (894), assists (1,963), points (2,857), and hat tricks
(50). Most people would say Gretzky s success all stems from his innate talent, but in The Matthew
Effect, Gladwell argues that innate talent is not the only reason for success. He reveals there s a much
more surprising reason. In Gladwell s chapter, The Matthew Effect, the controversial writer expertly
asks rhetorical questions and uses charts and statistics to defend his claim that a person s date of birth
has a significant influence on their athletic and academic success. The rhetorical question is a simple

Without these two strategies, Gladwell would have failed to draw attention and transition from section
to section, or build up to and eventually defend his claim with any undeniable facts. Statistics and
rhetorical questions do not only apply to arguments about success, but they are also rhetorical
mediums that can be and are used in a variety of ways. Rhetorical questions can be seen on posters, in
ads, and in any strong paper. How s that for applicability? Statistics are most commonly found in
visual advertisements and websites. They use evidence that cannot be discredited to credit any
possible argument. The reason these two strategies work so well together is that questioning adheres to
the visceral and emotional side of an audience, while cold, hard numbers build credibility and respect
to logic and reasoning. This results in a powerful one two punch that left many Gladwell readers
wondering if they missed the chance to be great because of something as simple as a set of numbers

Plantar Fasciitis is the ailment that is often associated with the symptoms of Heel Pain and Heel Spurs.
This article enumerates the features:
What is Plantar Fasciitis?
How does Plantar Fasciitis result in heel pain and heel spurs
What is the treatment to relieve the discomfort of heel pain
Heel Pain Symptoms
Heel Pain, Heel Spurs, and Plantar Fasciitis are foot ailments that cause discomfort in the center of the
heel when weight is placed on the foot, especially when one gets up in the morning. The pain slowly
disappears after walking around for a short time. The pain can vary in severity from case to case or
from time to time.
What Causes Heel Pain and Heel Spurs?
The most common cause of both heel pain and heel spurs is Plantar Fasciitis That is the Latin term
designating the inflammation of the Plantar Fascia.
Plantar Fascia is that flat band of fibrous ligaments located under the foot that connects the heel bone
to the toes. This dense strip of tissues acts like a bow string that spans the arch of the foot to give it
support.

The normal function can be however affected by excessive abuse of the feet, over pronation, old age
or being over weight. As a result of the painful stretching the Plantar Fascia exhibits micro tearing that
leads to irritation, inflammation and pain at the junction of the Plantar Fascia and calcaneus or heel
bone. The continued pulling of the Fascia joined to the heel bone can result in a bony growth on the
heel commonly known as a Heel Spur. This growth triggers pain in the surrounding tissues that get

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ronald Reagan s Boys Of Pointe...
Ronald Reagan s Fortieth Anniversary of D Day Speech became known as the Boys of Pointe Du Hoc
Speech written by Peggy Noonan. The speech was delivered on June 6, 1984 in Normandy, France:
the site where the Allied forces invaded the cliffs just forty years before Reagan had delivered this
memorable speech (Stepman). The forum itself was an important aspect of the speech. The delivery of
the speech there, on the windy shore cliffs of northern France, enhanced the visualization as well as
the nostalgia for the Veteran audience as a backdrop for some of the many examples Reagan had used
in his speech. The purpose of this speech was to not only commemorate the American Ranger
Veterans for their valiant efforts in taking this Nazi stronghold, but to also address the world, and the
Soviets, that conquest and tyranny will not stand in the way of peace and liberty. Through the use of
effective rhetorical devices, Ronald Reagan encompassed his theme that there is something worth
fighting for when someone uses force for conquest rather than the use of force for liberation (12).
With his examples of the brave soldiers forty years before, he discussed how their efforts back then
affected the world at the time. One of the most important rhetorical devices that Reagan used was
exemplum. Throughout the speech, Reagan gave many examples of what the soldiers had done. He
described their courage, difficulties, struggles, loyalty, bravery, risk, passion, and sacrifice, with the

Black Men And Public Spaces
Throughout life many people experience similar situations, although they are two different many
different kind of people. The kind of people depends on their personality. Brent Staples is an author
and writer for the New York Times. He gives two simple examples of two different people in his
excerpts Black Men and Public Spaces and Parallel Time showing their differences and parallelism.
Black Men in Public Spaces and Parallel Time show how two black men have been stereotyped. Brent
Staples on Black Men in public spaces recited that My first victim was a woman white, well dressed,
probably in her early twenties. I came upon her late one evening on a deserted street in Hyde Park, a
relatively affluent neighbourhood in an otherwise mean, impoverished section of Chicago. As I swung
onto the avenue behind her, there seemed to district, uninflammatory[aa1] between us. Not so. She
cast back a worried glance. To her, the youngish black man aboard six feet two inches with a beard
and billowing hair, both hands shoved into the pocket of bulky military jacket seemed menacingly
close. After a few more quick glimpses, she picked up her pace and was soon running in earnest.
Within second she disappeared into cross street (132). The author clarified that the woman misjudged
the black man, because he was black, and the way he looked like. The same happened with the main
character of Parallel Time , while he was walking home. The author mentioned that At night,

Essay on Lithium
Almost everyone has a favorite song, a song that takes them back or sends them forward to a place
and time that is not the present. What makes us pick out our favorites? What kind of affect does a song
have that it requires us to constantly hum it or sing it at the top of our lungs? While I cannot speak for
others without some kind of group consultation, I can explain the things that make me feel so
intensely about this song, Lithium, preformed by a 1990s grunge rock band, Nirvana, and sung by
Kurt Cobain.
The introduction to this song makes me think of a nursery rhyme. It takes me back to being a young
child singing Ring Around the Rosie and laughing and playing with others without a care in the world.

It only takes so much of this before one will encompass within ones own head. Of course these new
friends do not hurt you and you are the happiest you have ever been.
The next line, I m so ugly, but that s okay, cause so are you/ Broke our mirrors (nirvana music),
continues to explain an aggravated state of the songwriter. Also, a glimmer of hope appears in this
line. It reminds us that we are only as ugly as we think we are. By breaking the mirrors, a freedom
from society is stated. There is no fear of what others think. A reaction to this is in some way straying
from the norm. We have holes in our noses and tattoos and dress differently than the rest. We all need
to break our mirrors and be proud of who we are.
The following line, Sunday morning is everyday for all I care/ And I m not scared (nirvana music),
talks about somebody who either does not believe in God or believe in going to church on Sundays, or
is not afraid to worship in another manner other than the usual. Sunday is just another day of the week.
This person is not afraid of any repercussions that might be the effect of this activity. This line is also
about having freedoms.
Light my candles/ In a daze/ Cause I ve found god/ Hey, Hey, Hey (nirvana music) is a continuation of
the preceding line. It is difficult to determine what is meant here. Maybe it is because the songwriter is
so surprised to discover God. I see it like this. The

The Importance Of Neuropsychology And Its Effects On The...
Neuropsychology
Introduction
Neuropsychology is one of the many braches of psychology.
Explanation of Neuropsychology and Relevance to the Field of Psychology Neuropsychology is the
study of brain behavior relationships (Barkley, 1983). It is the scientific study of the association
between the different structures and physiological processes of the nervous system and the behavior of
organisms (Barkley, 1983). The focus of this particular field in psychology is not just pertaining to
humans as research on infrahumans consistently provides simple scientific information and data from
which research ideas on humans will be drawn/ concluded from (Barkley, 1983). For example,
research that was conducted on rats involved giving amphetamines to the rats with given closed head
injuries yielded the option of exploring the use of stimulant drugs in helping the recovery of adults and
children that have experienced accidental closed head trauma (Barkley, 1983). The field includes the
study of developmental changes of the nervous system and it s behavioral parallels as well as the
effects of experimental and also accidental changes of the nervous system on the behavior of an
individual (Barkley, 1983). Essentially, clinical neuropsychology is the application of this information
and knowledge, as well as knowledge from other fields of psychology, to the testing and treatment of
humans having showed or performed signs of neurological illnesses or diseases (Barkley, 1983).

Wuthering Heights Mood
Wuthering Heights takes place during 1750 1802 in Northern England. The setting is important
because it sets the tone for the novel and shows the relationship between the two houses. It also helps
the reader understand the culture of that era. If it were changed it would change the theme and mood
throughout the story. For instance, if Wuthering Heights took place in modern day Los Angeles the
story would change drastically. The setting portrays the time periods culture, even slight differences
between methods of communication, social status, and lifestyle would play a big role on the story
being told.
Emily Brontë described Wuthering Heights as being a significant provincial adjective... (Brontë 4). On
the other hand, Thrushcross Grange was a happier and brighter land. The contrast between the two
homes, plays to the theme of the novel and the differences between the two households. The time

Analysis Of John Vargas The Tenth Mile
Real: A Review of John Vargas The Tenth Mile
In action pictures, there was no virtuous side to identify with and nobody you really felt very good
about cheering for. (Kael 113) This forty two year old remark is still true for at least half of present
day action movies; the remaining ones are either about good triumphing over evil or about dopey loser
unlocking inner genius. These movies usually (and perhaps unavoidably) involve vendettas too bad to
be true or masters too good to be true. While I openly distain their outright unreality and secretly savor
their gripping intensity, I am aware of a hope, an expectation, a desire, deep in my heart, awaiting
something with both stylish actions and a realistic plot. The Tenth Mile perfectly fits that blank space.
Born in America and raised in six different countries, the young avant garde director John Vargas set
out to produce something different. And he did it. The story seems incredibly real and resonates well
with us normal people partly because Vargas based the story largely on his own experience living and
learning martial arts in different countries. There is no dark, dread, dangerous gang leader, nor old,
white, near divine grandmaster. The protagonist Pete Harkin, played by the action movie icon Mason
Grey, is no more than an avid lover of martial arts. Anyone can be Pete. Anyone can learn martial arts.
Convinced by his very first western boxing master of the Nine Miles to becoming a real martial artist,
Pete goes

Comparing Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness Essay
Comparing Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness
In the opening scenes of the documentary film Hearts of Darkness A Filmmaker s Apocalypse,
Eleanor Coppola describes her husband Francis s film, Apocalypse Now, as being loosely based on
Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness. Indeed, loosely is the word; the period, setting, and circumstances
of the film are totally different from those of the novella. Yet, a close analysis of character, plot, and
theme in each respective work reveals that Conrad s classic story of savagery and madness is present
in its cinematic reworking.
The story of Heart of Darkness is narrated by its central character, the seasoned mariner Marlowe, a
recurring figure in Conrad s work. Apocalypse Now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of company man turned savage, of a brilliant and successful team player, being groomed by
the Company for greater things, suddenly gone native, is perfectly realized in both novella and film. In
the film, Kurtz is portrayed by Marlon Brando, the father of American method actors, who lends
weight (both physically and dramatically) to the figure of the megalomaniacal Kurtz. Brando s
massive girth is all the more ironic for those familiar with Heart of Darkness who recall Conrad s
description: I could see the cage of his ribs all astir, the bones of his arms waving. It was as though an
animated image of death carved out of old ivory had been shaking its hand with menaces at a
motionless crowd of men... (Conrad, p.135). One could speculate that Coppola s Kurtz is a graphic
analogy of the bloated American war machine dominating and perverting the innocent montegnards of
Cambodia; however, after viewing Eleanor Coppola s documentary, one finds that the casting was
more based on a combination of Coppola s wanting to work with Brando (remember The Godfather )
and Brando s own weight problem. (It should also be noted that the cult like following of Kurtz in
Heart of Darkness is brilliantly and subtly updated by Coppola in a foreshadowing scene in which
missives to Willard from headquarters are intercut with scenes of newspaper clippings about Charles
Manson.)
Also present in Coppola s film is the loveable, addle headed harlequin/fool

  • 2. Two Associated Systems Two Associated Systems: Two associated systems with the eye are the nervous and muscular systems. The eye is a part of the nervous system because it is responsible for sending, receiving, and processing information sent through the nerve impulses. The optic nerve is a part of the eye and part of the central nervous system. As humans, we see something through our eyes and react to it. If we see someone is going to hit us, we flinch. If we are reading something, or seeing a picture, we see it and process it. By seeing the world through our eyes, it allows us to react and process our surroundings. The eyes are also associated with the muscular system; it has a special system of muscles that allow the eyes to move. Movements of the ciliary muscles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If you are born with it, you will have to live with it. However, there is medical research going on to try to cure color blindness. They are using gene therapy on monkeys to get them to see color. Researchers hope that one day this will help humans too. Gene therapy helps repair the damaged chromosome that causes color blindness. If color blindness is caused by something else; like an injury to the eye, old age, glaucoma, or certain medication side effects, you must treat the underlying cause to fix the non genetic colorblindness. Prevention of Diseases: To prevent glaucoma a person should first off know about their family history. If glaucoma runs in the family, a person can be more likely to develop it. Some other preventative measures are to go to the eye doctor regularly, take prescribed eye drops, wear eye protection, and exercise safely. In order to prevent corneal disease one must avoid smoke, wear protective eye gear, take frequent breaks from computer use, eat food that promote eye health (leafy greens and fish), and have the eyes screened regularly. By following these preventative measures, not only can a person reduce the chance of getting this disease, but they can also support good eye ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Marx, Mill And Freud s Critique Of Political Economy And... Describe and assess the explicit (and sometimes merely implicit) notions of freedom and unfreedom we find in the texts we have read by Marx, Mill and Freud. Use the esoteric traditions we have examined thus far (from the Book of Job to Plato) as a comparative yardstick, or point of reference, but without letting them take over the foreground in your paper the latter should be reserved for these three figures. Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud, and John Stuart Mill are three authors who tackle the topic of freedom in unique ways, but their messages are fundamentally the same and continue the ideas that we encountered in the esoteric texts as well as in The Matrix: . First, we have Karl Marx s Capital: Critique of Political Economy and The Communist Manifesto, where we encounter the proletariat, or the working class people regarded collectively. In these two texts, the latter of which was co authored by Frederick Engels, we learn that the proletariat is enslaved just like the people in the matrix. And just like the people in the matrix, the proletariat is oblivious to this limit on its freedom. That is why in Karl Marx s view, unfreedom is what we are living in now. According to him, many people think that abolishing private property through communism is what will infringe on our freedom, but that is not the case. Specifically, in The Communist Manifesto Marx states, You are horrified at our intending to do away with private property. But in your existing society, private ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay On The Oil And Gas Industry As A Supply Chain... The oil and gas industry is vital to many industries and is of importance to the maintenance of industrialized civilization itself and that is critical concern for many. Oil accounts for a larger percentage of the world s energy consumption and the world consumes roughly 30 billion barrels of oil each year. While society, on a normal day to day basis consumes a large quantity, the demand spikes when areas are struck with catastrophic situations, such as the two hurricanes that hit this year. Focusing on the oil and gas industries as a supply chain manager, during the hurricanes, we evaluated Valero and how they overcame the obstacles they went through during and after the storm. Valero has headquarters in Corpus Christi and Houston along ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The gas supply chain has many phases but can be grouped together as five phases and some being more invasive then others. All companies in the Oil and Gas industries use the, some slightly different, process of phases the gasoline takes to be distributed. The first phase that is taken is the domestic and import of oil that is sent to the refinery, the next 4 steps are the steps that are taken to turn the oil and gas into a product that can be used for the public and how it is distributed. All phase of the gasoline supply chain are very crucial and no phases can be skipped over. Our team went with Valero Energy to research and how they run their day to day operations and what procedures they take when faced with difficult situations such as hurricanes. Valero Energy operates two business segments, refining and ethanol and current operate 15 refineries throughout the US, Canada, the UK and Aruba. • 5. Mean s Search For Meaning By Viktor Frankl Mean s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl Linda Felix Positive Psychology Dr. R. Barke November 28, 2016 The book, in autobiographical mode, relates Auschwitz to the life of the author Viktor E. Frankl in the concentration camps of the former Nazi Germany. It reports the cruelty in which the SS soldiers used to mistreat the prisoners and in turn explains how the concentration camp life in the mind of the average prisoner affected. As soon as they reached the concentration camp, which in this case was Auschwitz, the prisoner was stripped of his personal belongings and identity documents. They identified the prisoners with a number. Then there was a first selection that for some would have a fatal destiny, crematoria and gas chambers. The forced labor of the prisoners sometimes had a reward in the form of a coupon. This coupon could be redeemed for a dozen cigarettes or a dozen servings of soup. Usually the vouchers were kept for the soup, but thanks to them you could tell when a prisoner lost the will to live and smoked their cigars to enjoy their last days of existence. The author divides life into the field into three phases. Phase one, The Shock. The symptom that characterizes this phase, according to Frankl, is the shock. As soon as they were at Auschwitz, they received a group of prisoners who spoke in every imaginable and well fed European language. That is why the prisoners who arrived thought they could share their situation. They adopt the state of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Barn Burning Essay Every person reaches a point in their lives when they must define themselves in relation to their parents. We all come through this experience differently, depending on our parents and the situation that we are in. For some people the experience comes very early in their lives, and can be a significant life changing experience. In William Faulkner s Barn Burning Colonel Sartoris Snopes must decide either to stand with his father and compromise his integrity, or embrace honesty and morality and condemn his family. This is a difficult decision to make, especially for a ten year old boy that has nothing outside of what his father provides. Sarty s decision to ultimately betray his father is dependent on his observation of Abner s character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a boy, however, he doesn t know how to explain the conflict he is feeling and can only take in what is happening around him. Sarty has spent the beginning of the trial listening to the proceedings and waiting for Abner to defend himself. When Sarty is called as a witness, he knows from his father s posture that he, Sarty, will have to lie to defend the family. The fact that Sarty knows this without even seeing Abner s face shows just how much time Sarty has spent observing his father s body language and actions. This is reasonable, and even expected behavior from a child who lives with a parent who is as prone to anger and retaliation as Abner. We see how desperate Sarty is about his father s willingness for revenge when they are moving to the De Spain s estate and he thinks to himself, Forever [...]. Maybe he s done satisfied now, now that he has... (86). But Sarty is unable to admit the truth even to himself, probably because his loyalty to, and dependence on Abner. Even so early in the story Sarty feels that his father is doing wrong, but through all his observation cannot condemn the man. Sarty admires the qualities of independence, courage and conviction in his father but doesn t recognize that these qualities, along with the righteous indignation that Abner constantly keeps at the ready, are exactly what cause them to be ... • 28. Rhetorical Analysis Of Ronald Reagan s Boys Of Pointe... Ronald Reagan s Fortieth Anniversary of D Day Speech became known as the Boys of Pointe Du Hoc Speech written by Peggy Noonan. The speech was delivered on June 6, 1984 in Normandy, France: the site where the Allied forces invaded the cliffs just forty years before Reagan had delivered this memorable speech (Stepman). The forum itself was an important aspect of the speech. The delivery of the speech there, on the windy shore cliffs of northern France, enhanced the visualization as well as the nostalgia for the Veteran audience as a backdrop for some of the many examples Reagan had used in his speech. The purpose of this speech was to not only commemorate the American Ranger Veterans for their valiant efforts in taking this Nazi stronghold, but to also address the world, and the Soviets, that conquest and tyranny will not stand in the way of peace and liberty. Through the use of effective rhetorical devices, Ronald Reagan encompassed his theme that there is something worth fighting for when someone uses force for conquest rather than the use of force for liberation (12). With his examples of the brave soldiers forty years before, he discussed how their efforts back then affected the world at the time. One of the most important rhetorical devices that Reagan used was exemplum. Throughout the speech, Reagan gave many examples of what the soldiers had done. He described their courage, difficulties, struggles, loyalty, bravery, risk, passion, and sacrifice, with the scene ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The kind of people depends on their personality. Brent Staples is an author and writer for the New York Times. He gives two simple examples of two different people in his excerpts Black Men and Public Spaces and Parallel Time showing their differences and parallelism. Black Men in Public Spaces and Parallel Time show how two black men have been stereotyped. Brent Staples on Black Men in public spaces recited that My first victim was a woman white, well dressed, probably in her early twenties. I came upon her late one evening on a deserted street in Hyde Park, a relatively affluent neighbourhood in an otherwise mean, impoverished section of Chicago. As I swung onto the avenue behind her, there seemed to district, uninflammatory[aa1] between us. Not so. She cast back a worried glance. To her, the youngish black man aboard six feet two inches with a beard and billowing hair, both hands shoved into the pocket of bulky military jacket seemed menacingly close. After a few more quick glimpses, she picked up her pace and was soon running in earnest. Within second she disappeared into cross street (132). The author clarified that the woman misjudged the black man, because he was black, and the way he looked like. The same happened with the main character of Parallel Time , while he was walking home. • 30. Essay on Lithium Almost everyone has a favorite song, a song that takes them back or sends them forward to a place and time that is not the present. What makes us pick out our favorites? What kind of affect does a song have that it requires us to constantly hum it or sing it at the top of our lungs? While I cannot speak for others without some kind of group consultation, I can explain the things that make me feel so intensely about this song, Lithium, preformed by a 1990s grunge rock band, Nirvana, and sung by Kurt Cobain. The introduction to this song makes me think of a nursery rhyme. It takes me back to being a young child singing Ring Around the Rosie and laughing and playing with others without a care in the world. Though this feeling ... Of course these new friends do not hurt you and you are the happiest you have ever been. The next line, I m so ugly, but that s okay, cause so are you/ Broke our mirrors (nirvana music), continues to explain an aggravated state of the songwriter. Also, a glimmer of hope appears in this line. It reminds us that we are only as ugly as we think we are. By breaking the mirrors, a freedom from society is stated. There is no fear of what others think. A reaction to this is in some way straying from the norm. We have holes in our noses and tattoos and dress differently than the rest. We all need to break our mirrors and be proud of who we are. The following line, Sunday morning is everyday for all I care/ And I m not scared (nirvana music), talks about somebody who either does not believe in God or believe in going to church on Sundays, or is not afraid to worship in another manner other than the usual. Sunday is just another day of the week. This person is not afraid of any repercussions that might be the effect of this activity. This line is also about having freedoms. Light my candles/ In a daze/ Cause I ve found god/ Hey, Hey, Hey (nirvana music) is a continuation of the preceding line. It is difficult to determine what is meant here. Maybe it is because the songwriter is so surprised to discover God. I see it like this. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Wuthering Heights Mood Wuthering Heights takes place during 1750 1802 in Northern England. The setting is important because it sets the tone for the novel and shows the relationship between the two houses. It also helps the reader understand the culture of that era. If it were changed it would change the theme and mood throughout the story. For instance, if Wuthering Heights took place in modern day Los Angeles the story would change drastically. The setting portrays the time periods culture, even slight differences between methods of communication, social status, and lifestyle would play a big role on the story being told. Emily Brontë described Wuthering Heights as being a significant provincial adjective... (Brontë 4). On the other hand, Thrushcross Grange was a happier and brighter land. • 36. Analysis Of John Vargas The Tenth Mile Real: A Review of John Vargas The Tenth Mile In action pictures, there was no virtuous side to identify with and nobody you really felt very good about cheering for. (Kael 113) This forty two year old remark is still true for at least half of present day action movies; the remaining ones are either about good triumphing over evil or about dopey loser unlocking inner genius. These movies usually (and perhaps unavoidably) involve vendettas too bad to be true or masters too good to be true. While I openly distain their outright unreality and secretly savor their gripping intensity, I am aware of a hope, an expectation, a desire, deep in my heart, awaiting something with both stylish actions and a realistic plot. The Tenth Mile perfectly fits that blank space. Born in America and raised in six different countries, the young avant garde director John Vargas set out to produce something different. And he did it. The story seems incredibly real and resonates well with us normal people partly because Vargas based the story largely on his own experience living and learning martial arts in different countries. There is no dark, dread, dangerous gang leader, nor old, white, near divine grandmaster. The protagonist Pete Harkin, played by the action movie icon Mason Grey, is no more than an avid lover of martial arts. Anyone can be Pete. Anyone can learn martial arts. Convinced by his very first western boxing master of the Nine Miles to becoming a real martial artist, Pete goes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Comparing Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness Essay Comparing Apocalypse Now and Heart of Darkness In the opening scenes of the documentary film Hearts of Darkness A Filmmaker s Apocalypse, Eleanor Coppola describes her husband Francis s film, Apocalypse Now, as being loosely based on Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness. Indeed, loosely is the word; the period, setting, and circumstances of the film are totally different from those of the novella. Yet, a close analysis of character, plot, and theme in each respective work reveals that Conrad s classic story of savagery and madness is present in its cinematic reworking. The story of Heart of Darkness is narrated by its central character, the seasoned mariner Marlowe, a recurring figure in Conrad s work. Apocalypse Now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea of company man turned savage, of a brilliant and successful team player, being groomed by the Company for greater things, suddenly gone native, is perfectly realized in both novella and film. In the film, Kurtz is portrayed by Marlon Brando, the father of American method actors, who lends weight (both physically and dramatically) to the figure of the megalomaniacal Kurtz. Brando s massive girth is all the more ironic for those familiar with Heart of Darkness who recall Conrad s description: I could see the cage of his ribs all astir, the bones of his arms waving. It was as though an animated image of death carved out of old ivory had been shaking its hand with menaces at a motionless crowd of men... (Conrad, p.135). One could speculate that Coppola s Kurtz is a graphic analogy of the bloated American war machine dominating and perverting the innocent montegnards of Cambodia; however, after viewing Eleanor Coppola s documentary, one finds that the casting was more based on a combination of Coppola s wanting to work with Brando (remember The Godfather ) and Brando s own weight problem. (It should also be noted that the cult like following of Kurtz in Heart of Darkness is brilliantly and subtly updated by Coppola in a foreshadowing scene in which missives to Willard from headquarters are intercut with scenes of newspaper clippings about Charles Manson.) Also present in Coppola s film is the loveable, addle headed harlequin/fool ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
