Observation Report On Field Experience
Field Experience My first day of observations had finally arrived. Filled with excitement, I opened the
doors to Pleasant Ridge Elementary School, and walked into the front office to sign in as a guest for
the day. I made my way to the second grade wing to do my first observation for my field experience
report. The second grade instructor greeted me as I entered her classroom, with a big bright smile I
found made her classroom warm and inviting.
Mrs. Lawrence had her students desks arranged in three rows of grouped tables. The first row is
composed of eight tables and chairs, second row is composed of nine tables and chairs, the third row
is composed of eleven tables and chairs, and one table is leaned up against the teacher s desk. ... Show

Students requiring assistance in a specific area are removed from class during the lesson s time slot as
an attempt to assist and improve a student s understanding of said lesson. During my observations in
her classroom, I observed Reading/Writing and Math lessons. For her Reading/Writing lesson, she
discussed cause and effect. She had a couple of examples displayed on the smart board. She read the
sentence and called on students to answer specific questions relating to her lesson. Some students
were eager to answer and others not so much.
Mrs. Lawrence frequently utilizes rhymes and actions, such as rhythm hand clapping to gain her
student s attention. She also uses songs to give students enough time to get their things together during
lesson transitions or station transitions located throughout her classroom. The sayings and hand
actions very catchy, and her signing was a great way to get students to take responsibility for
themselves and to do as instructed. Mrs. Lawrence divided her students into four stations or groups
during her Reading/Writing and Math lessons. A group of students played educational games on the
smart board, a second group would silent read during reading/writing, a third group would work on
worksheets, and a fourth group would meet with here for one on one lesson instruction. Mrs.

Stress And Its Effect On Stress Essay
Stress s definition according to college text book Psychology in my life, stress is; a group of
behavioral, mental and physical processes occurring when events match or exceed the organism s
ability to respond in a healthy way. When we think about stress it comes across as something that s
only negative, but stress in moderation can be good. This type of stress is known as being acute stress,
it s good and bad stress. When frequently experiencing acute stress for long periods at a time it s
becomes a little more sever stress know as episodic. Although episodic stress isn t the most serve kind
of stress, chronic stress is the more deadly types of stress. Theorist found that we experience things
out of our control, the body s natural response is to stress using perception and interpretation to
experience an emotion. There are classifications for different types of personalities because people
experience stress differently than others. Although many thing stress us out there are plenty of ways to
cope with stress in a healthy way before it s too late.
Stress is a part of our everyday lives. Theorists William James and Carl Lange, 19th century scholars,
where one of the first to connect stress with emotions. Their theory was when a person experiences
arousal from and event, the automatic nervous system (A.N.S.) reacts by making the heart beat faster,
increase perspiration, and muscle tensions. The brains interpretation to that is an emotion (Sarah Mae

Literary Analysis Of Mirror By Sylvia Plath
Some poems are exuberant, while, sometimes poems can be a cry of the heart. Written in 1961, Mirror
by Sylvia Plath is an emotional poem, successfully personified and narrated through a mirrors point of
view. Plath was an American literature figure that wrote poems, novels and several short stories.
During her life time, it was always noted that she was chronically gerontophobic, which is the fear of
growing old. Plath s poem represents a woman grappling with the reality of ageing and fear losing her
beauty. Plath unfolds...... Through the use of several different literary terms. Plath s poem is written in
stanzaic form of two stanzas each consisting of nine lines. The double stanza of the poem can be
interpreted as catoptric, since the poem is describing the reflections, while also describing its own
image. Likewise, both stanzas are equal in length to reflect each other, in that they both have little to
no sign of rhyme or rhythm, otherwise known as a free verse poem. The structure of Plath s poem
perhaps can serve to reflect the extended figure, for like the woman in this poem we too are entranced
by the product of its general simplicity. As Plath s poem shows no evidence of stressed and unstressed
syllable patterns or even complicated diction, the poem is written in such a way that, when spoken, it
naturally and exquisitely roles of the tongue. As a rhythm booster Plath takes advantage of adding in
phrases such as over and over and comes and goes, and in doing this attracts attention to the sound of
the word which in turn adds rhythm and flavor. In the beginning of the poem, the speaker starts out to
seem young and optimistic, seeing things exactly how they look on the surface, although it does not
judge what if feels or sees. The poem opens by describing a graven image of the speaker, silver and
exact (line 1), in which the poet felt compelled to immediately certify the speaker. By line 5, the
speaker becomes somewhat egotistical, calling itself the eye of a little god. This line displays the
mirrors god like powers over the woman looking into the mirror, as she feels eager to acquire a perfect
reflection of herself. The power of the mirror is so intnse that is causs the woman to turn to

Drought In The Mississippi River Delta Wetlands
Wetlands are extremely valuable to society. Wetlands can decrease flooding, remove pollutants from
water, recharge groundwater, protect shorelines, provide habitat for wildlife, and serve important
recreational and cultural functions. The Mississippi River Delta ecosystems alone provide at least $12
47 billion in benefits to people every year. If wetlands are lost, the cost of replacing them can be
extremely expensive, if at all possible. Lost wetlands can result in a city having to invest more money
in drinking water treatment or higher costs to citizens for flood insurance. Wetlands act as natural
sponges that trap and slowly release surface water over time. This ability to store water in times of
heavy rainfall means that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On How To Throw A Baseball Pitch
Many times, someone who plays baseball, or knows something about baseball, may see someone
simply throw a rock and think, Wow, they really could have a future with the arm they have. You may
not be interested in baseball, but you can be enlightened with something from people who are very
good at what they do. Maybe, some of you could take some things, and apply them, and you will find
a hidden talent. The topic of enlightenment is how to throw different baseball pitches.
First off, the supplies that are needed are, but certainly are not limited to: a baseball, a baseball glove,
another person with a baseball glove, and an open area. A pitching mound can be used to gain the full
potential of the pitches you will learn to throw. Also, catchers equipment and a catcher would benefit

To reach this potential, you can take lessons from someone who has perfected the craft of pitching.
With all of these things, you must now learn to throw the pitches.
After having gained all the materials needed and having the proper instruction, you can now begin
learning to throw different pitches. However, you must first know what each pitch does, what the pitch
is used to do, and how the pitch is most effective for you. The three main pitches are the fastball,
change up, and curveball. To start, the fastball is a pitch that has the most speed out of any other pitch.
While the pitch is called a fastball, there are two different types of fastballs: the two seam and the four
seam. The two seam fastball is relatively similar to the four seam, however the two seam will move
into a right handed batter and away from a left handed batter. The fastball is used to get a strike on the
batter, set the batter nup for an offspeed pitch, and often, it is used after an offspeed pitch to disrupt
the hitter s timing. Now, the curveball is often the pitch with the lowest velocity. A curveball also has
the most movement among all pitches.

campuses are forming regulations on speech codes on campuses, others choose to remain unregulated.
The decision is not put at ease with the first and fourteen amendment conflicting between the citizens
rights to freedom of expression, and the right for equal educational opportunities. Is there a middle
ground that allows individuals continue their education in the sanction of a college campuses while

But not if they liked Gore (Dolgow). The same cannot occur on a college campus, however the fear

remains that there is a substantial difference between a corporation and a university. Universities are
meant to be a place of learning and just like science is able to accept new theories, we should be
willing to accept new ideas. Building tolerance as a community allows us to embraces unpopular
ideas. That being said, there is very good reasons to protect offensive or unpopular speech. During the
1950 s, minority groups didn t have the right to vote and civil rights movements sprung across the
country. Voting right activists in the South experienced various forms of mistreatment and violence.
One such event on March 7, 1965, when peaceful participants in a voting rights march from Selma,
Alabama, to the state capital in Montgomery were met by Alabama state troopers who attacked them
with nightsticks, tear gas and whips after they refused to turn back ( Voting Rights Act ). One can
conclude based on the reactions, the decision to call in the state troopers and the state troopers
attacking the protestors, that these individuals found the protest offensive and threating their values of
white supremacy. Therefore, should we banned offensive or popular speech solely on the fact that
these speech may make some individuals feel uncomfortable or offended? Some

Why Is Summer Homework Essay
Argument Essay
Have you ever wondered why we have summer homework when we should be having fun during our
summer break? Every year when we get out of school we come home with more homework to help us
try to not forget what we learned in the past year. What if I told you summer homework could be
harmful to us. It could be and here s why. There s not enough book to choose from, never learned the
work, and it stresses everyone out. So summer homework may need to be rethought.
We all know the feeling when you pick up a book and can t put it down. Sometimes that s not the case
with summer reading books. Your assigned with a book or two that you have to read and do a report
on. Sometimes you love it, sometimes you don t. If you love it great, you can easily finish it and do a
book report on it. But what if you don t like it? Well either way you still have to read it. But if you don
t like it it s a dread to go on. If you don t like it you won t pay attention as much and might get lost and
can t follow the story. Once you start your book report you have no idea what you re talking about.
Than what happens? You get a bad grade. About 78% of people don t do well on a book ... Show more

but the parents too. Parents try to help all they can, but kids yell at the and tell them to go away. You
also mostly think of getting it done, not getting a good grade. Kids alo try to get it done in the middle
of the summer, but kids have sports. When kids try to do summer work and not play sports, it s taking
time away from the kids to exercise and socialize. If there is no summer work it will let kid and

Hybrid Cars Essay
Hybrid Cars
In my basic presentation, I examined the practicality of HEVs (Hybrid Electric Vehicles), otherwise
known as hybrids. The presentation gave some background about laws pertaining to emissions but at
the same time was designed more to educate the consumer as to what a hybrid actually is. You do not
plug it in!
Current Emission Standards are confusing. At this point in time, we are at a major transition as to what
will be the future of combustion vehicles. Present day standards do not call for the kind of emission
requirements that will account for the current rate of global warming. To fix this problem we must
either cut back on the number of vehicles on the road (not likely to happen) or use less fuel. There are

The increased fuel efficiency of the hybrids actually makes city driving more economical than
highway driving. Overall fuel efficiency (MPG) can be doubled. All of these factors lead to reduced
emissions.
At this point, it would be appropriate to include a brief summary of the Emission Standards as
proposed by the EPA. The Federal mandates on emissions include Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tier 1 took effect
in 1997 and was the first call for a reduction in emissions since the 50s. Tier 2 will be phased in
beginning 2004. Currently, Tier 1 standards take into account the size of the car when determining
emission ratings. When Tier 2 takes effect, the size of the car will no longer matter (i.e. an SUV will
be held to the same standards as a subcompact car). The Tier 1 and Tier 2 guidelines only apply to
passenger cars. Buses, trucks, and construction equipment will have different mandates.
The National LEV (NLEV) standard goes hand in hand with the California Emissions Standards
(developed by the CARB: California Air Resources Board). NLEV is short for the National Low
Emission Vehicle Standard. California came up with its own guidelines for emissions which are more
rigid than today?s Tier 1 standard. The Federal Government adopted this standard into its NLEV
program. It is a voluntary program that was proposed mostly by California and the Northeast US.
NLEV has been adopted to carry car designs from Tier 1 into Tier 2. The NLEV program consists of

The Free funds market is also known as the Transfer or Convertible market: This market has been
promoted by the strict controls that exist in the official market and the transparency issue on duties. It
has been said that this market provides support for the management of the duty applied on goods
imported.
The forex for all prohibited goods brought into the country may also have this market as its source. It
is a widely held opinion that the substantial part of the supply to this market is sterilized official funds.
Most foreign exchange earners (with low corporate/individual compliance commitments) supply funds
to this market because of its higher rates i.e. premium over the official sources and confidentiality. The
premium that obtains here is primarily due to the absence of documentation.
The Cash/Travelers cheque (TC) market: This is the easiest of the markets to access. It commands the
highest premium due to the speed and guarantee of delivery offered. The cash market is the street
market mostly found around the international airports, hotels and major markets. (In Lagos Tejuosho,

Analysis Of The Movie Ava
Ava had found herself in more than a few situations that had left her cheeks bright red with
embarrassment and shame, but this topped all of them by far. It was bad enough that her bronzed,
nubile body was marred by the grime and dirt that seemed to infest every spot upon the floor of the
locker room. In fact, it was bad enough that her rival, who had just beat and humiliated her in front of
an audience, was now being pleased by Ava s tongue. However, the worst part of it all, as she lay there
with her tongue tween Aida s folds and her breasts being toyed with like they were stress balls, was
that she was enjoying it.
Despite just how terrible and messed up all of it was, Ava couldn t help but feel her arousal growing

What she had not really counted on was the extensive experience of her opponent, which was not

So, instead of really resisting her opponent, all Ava was doing was playing exactly into the Valkyrie s
hands. And it was to this end that when Aida began to hurl obscenities and threats like alms to a
beggar, she quickened her pace. If everything went according to plan, Aida would flow between
orgasms until the entire experience began to hurt and exhaust rather than pleasure.
Aida moaned out as she began to finish once more, her whole body twitching and writhing against the
admittedly talented tongue of the girl below her. It was always somewhat astonishing to her just how
easy it was to use her conquered foes. She played them like a fiddle, and Ava was no different. The
dumb brunette was, as her phone displayed, just another in a long line girls who had been reduced to
unabashed sluts. The whole idea reminded Aida that one picture of her foe s humiliation was hardly
enough to remind her of just how complete the process had been. As she teetered over the edge of her
second orgasm she grabbed a fistful of her conquered foe s hair, pulling her back just enough to
encapsulate her mouth as she commanded Smile! before snapping a picture and returning Ava to her
place. Looking at the photo, she was pleased at how easily Ava had given in, a wide grin on the

One Day International Cricket Essay
When it comes to contemporary One Day International (ODI) cricket, Bangladesh and England are
undoubtedly the two most improved units in past couple of years. Since the 2015 World Cup, in terms
of win loss ratio, England have been the second best (1.615) after South Africa (2.090). In the list
Bangladesh too are sitting pretty with a ratio of 1.111, which is better than big boys like India, Sri
Lanka and Pakistan. Both England and Bangladesh have completely transformed their games in this
format. On the field, they have been aggressive, innovative and entertaining an ultra modern flavour,
which has helped them to attract a lot of eyeballs. Both teams have settled line ups which include

Unpredictable English conditions to dictate terms? For the past three four days, London is
experiencing some indifferent weather. Mostly the mornings have been cloudy and it had its effect in
recent matches. On Sunday, in a warm up fixture a strong New Zealand batting were restricted to 189

have seen England tottering at 20 for 6 their worst start in ODI history against the South Africa new

Review of English Semester Essay
English 101 60 has taught me many things and has helped me grow and develop my skills as a writer.
It has taught me how to think more creatively and use clear concrete details. In the beginning of the
semester, our first writing assignment was a narrative journal entry that focused on writing about an
uninteresting moment from your life and making it interesting. This was a challenging assignment
because it was a broad topic that allowed the writers to take it in any direction. I remember thinking I
had no idea what I am going to write about. Once I was able to narrow down the ideas I started writing

a new experience for me because I have never worked with that many person, this kind of
overwhelmed me because there was so many opinion on one paper. The groups weakness was, our
lack of organization. Fortunately, we were able to make this up with all of us being very truthful
towards each other and not sugarcoating the revisions we suggested among our papers. We all
accomplished the beginning stages of writing our research papers and making sure everyone had their
thesis there. Over the semester I have been challenged and intrigued over and over by the content of
this course and the professor, who thought I could develop a fairly strong paper if it was not for all my
grammatical errors. It has been a very enlightening and enthralling experience that has taught me a
new way to write a paper. In high school there was only one way to write and that was it. I think that
this class is a great way for students to think out of the box, rather than having to be stuck. It allows
them to write more freely about a subject, and I am very thankful for that. I have learned many new

Intelligence-Led Policing Case Study
Intelligence led policing is one of the main global issues and important factor that the police service
are faced with in today s modern society in particular the Queensland Police Service. Intelligence led
policing is explained through a various different sources in literature, which explain the definition and
issues surrounding intelligence led policing, the main fundamental structures that support and make up
intelligence led policing and the role it has played in information communication technologies,

While the literature tries to define intelligence led policing the Queensland Police service makes no
attempt to define as it is assumed knowledge that every police offer knows what intelligence led
practices are (Ratclifee 2008). This can then create misinterpretation of actions plans as there is no
universal definition by the Queensland police of what intelligence led policing is. Another major
difference is that seen in the literature and the Queensland Police services is the interactions with
external partnerships as stated by Ratcliffe (2003, p.3). Within the documentations provided by the
Queensland Police Service very few mentioned working with external partnerships on the global issue
of intelligence led policing. Most of the documents focused on inside the Queensland police service
while only the Queensland Police Service ICT Resources Strategic Plan 2009 2013 annual report

Plagiarism Is A Form Of Cheating

Plagiarism is a form of cheating, and a serious violation of the honor code and academic honesty in
educational institutions. According to dictionary.com, plagiarism is: a piece of writing or other work
reflecting such unauthorized use or imitation [1]. In simplified terms, plagiarism is taking and using
some else s work without giving credit to the righteous owner, for using their information. This work

Regardless of intention, plagiarism is considered as academic dishonesty, thus penalties are still
applied. Plagiarism is not just limited to taking information from resources without citations.
According to Theresa Ireton, an assistant professor of writing in Centralia College, Washington, there
are also subcategories of plagiarism in writing, such as plagiarism of structure, authorship, and
plagiarism of self [4]. It is considered a plagiarism of structure when an imitator is paraphrasing by
having different word choices than the original content. Plagiarism of authorship constitutes buying
and turning in duplicate copy of another person s work without any modifications whatsoever.
Plagiarism of self is when an individual tries to utilize previously completed work as a resubmission
for a different assignment. Even though the previous assignment is fully original content from an
individual, it still constitutes as cheating due to an unfair advantage. The use of images, videos, and
music in content without receiving permission or providing appropriate citation is also considered
plagiarism. These activities include copying images from websites and pasting them in papers or
websites, making videos while using copyrighted music as part of the sound track, and performing a

Vaccines And The Air Force And Mankind
Vaccines are one of the most important chemistry evolvements in the history of both the Air Force and
mankind. They have had a significant impact on the Air Force and the military as a whole. Vaccines
were first described by the philosopher Thucydides in 430 B.C. when he said that man would not get
the chicken pox twice due to previous exposure.6 This was then expanded on by Edward Jenner in
1796, when he created the first official smallpox vaccine and made it available to the public.2
Vaccines have become a highly debated topic in the medical field today. Although there are alleged
negative side effects, the effectiveness of vaccines cannot be properly argued against. In figure 1 to the
right, the cases of measles are shown over a 57 year period. Around 1965 when the vaccine was
officially licensed, the number of cases dramatically dropped down to levels close to zero and has
been steadily low ever since. Many think that this is a direct impact of vaccination. Others state
increasingly clean standards of living and overall human advancement as the cause and discount the
apparent achievements of vaccines. There have been many groups formed over the years that are
against vaccines and try to show the public the ineffectiveness and danger of these immunizations. In
1870, the Anti Vaccination Society of America was formed.18 This led to many battles in court and
one case went all the way to the Supreme Court. In 1905, the Supreme Court ruled against a man who

High Cost Of College Essay
The importance of obtaining a college degree has been heavily stressed in society. For many students,
their high school careers act as the prerequisite for higher education at a university. To them, college
brings about opportunities for better lifestyles and higher roles in society. However, the high costs of
college tuition keeps some students wondering if it is truly the right path to take. Although some argue
that the relationship between a college education and success will become more and more significant
in our information driven global economy, (Hansen) many students are finding that college attendance

Many college graduates discover that the so called great career opportunities have been outsourced or
automated, (Photo with caption) leading to them working in jobs that do not even require a degree.
Degrees do not guarantee that someone will be prepared for a certain job. A blogger named Rob
mentioned that many of his acquaintances have graduated from college with a business or criminal
justice degree and absolutely no idea how to get a job with it. Most end up starting on the bottom rung
of some company, about where they would have started without a degree, (Rob). Required college
attendance for all students could possibly deplete the value of a degree. College does not guarantee
intellectual capital for the business market, (Rob) but would be a waste of resources.
Though it is true that college graduates tend to have higher salaries and better life skills, the remedial
classes, excessive debt, and potentially outdated degrees is not worth the required attendance of all
students. It is possible to be successful without a college degree. Sending every student to college
would not necessarily mean a better life for all who

Social Order Theory In The Giver
Some would say society is unpredictable and uncontrollable; which some may view this as either a
negative or positive. There have been multiple theories of what a more organized and harmonious
society would need, also known as social order theories. According to Reference.com, social order
theory is the way a society is organized which includes the rules and standards that are set in order to
maintain that organization . We can see one an example of a social order being put to practice in a
society through the social science fiction film The Giver. We can also see how this theory fits under

First, Durkheim believes that society is already there rather than us creating it. In The Giver we see
how the elders go against the ideology since they are the ones who try to control and regulate their
society, in other words they are creating it. Second, Durkheim also believes the crime is a part of
society and plays a significant role since it forms solidarity amongst people in the society.etc. In the
film, we see that the elders do everything possible in order to prevent any crime from occurring.
Durkheim also is on the non rational spectrum where he is concerned about feelings instead of goal
orientation. In the film, the elders are unconcerned about feelings, and even take emotions away, in
order to maintain their social order which is their main goal. On the other hand, Marx believes that
there are two types of people in the world; the owners and the worker, whom are hostile towards each
other. In the beginning of the film, they mention how they took away certain divisions such as fame,
popularity, etc. so that people will not become envious. This shows that they understand the division
of groups can cause conflict which correlates with Marx

The role of religion has changed over time in West Africa from the migration of Islam bringing its new

The Islamization that took place within West Africa from 1000 to 1500 CE brought a variety of

remained. With the spread of Islam came a broader trading network which brought Africa new ways of

the movement of new faiths traveled across the Sudanic states bringing new forms of worship, religion
was still the main authority that determined the ethical/ social patterns of Africa. With this in mind
much of African religion was retained, leading many people to live a life devoted to animism and

Bicameral Legislature Essay
Famous American poet James Russell Lowell once said, Democracy gives every man the right to be
his own oppressor ( Quotations 2011). And it should be just that. James Russell Lowell successfully
defined democracy when it is in its truest form; a citizen s beliefs should be equally represented and
considered for. The representative democracy instated in the United States presents the need for three
branches in the government; they include the executive, legislative, and judicial branch. The Congress
embodies the lawmaking branch of the government, having all legislative powers as it is stated in

Although they have some comparisons in the way the House is set up and the tasks they have to do,
there are many distinctions. The House of Representatives contains more than four times the amount
of Senators and serves two year terms compared to a Senator s six year term. Senators also have to be
at least thirty years of age with nine years of citizenship while the House sets a twenty five year old

With 435 members in the House, the House of Representatives is known to be the body that
symbolizes the citizens of America. It was intended that the House adhered to the beliefs of the people
more than the Senate did, making the House of Representatives a bit more democratic. Senators are
voted to represent the beliefs of a whole state; while on the other hand, members of House represent
groups of citizens in specific districts of states. Because of this, representatives try and submit bills
that appeal to the voters in their own district. This allows members to

H.W. Liao, M. Takao, D.M. Berson, K.W. Yau 1. What is the objective/hypothesis/question of this
study? (1 point) The objective of this study is to investigate the molecular mechanisms responsible for
non image forming visual responses, such as the coordination of the biological clock. Because retinal
rod and cone cells are not required for non image forming visual responses, the researchers
hypothesized that retinal ganglion cells (RGC) may be the light sensitive cells utilized in the non
image forming visual response pathway. The researchers also hypothesized that if the RGCs are light
sensitive, then the protein melanopsin, which is found on the surface of RGCs, is likely the
photopigment that causes RGCs to respond to light. 2. What is the rationale and relevance of the
question? (1 point) This study is important because it allows us to better understand the mechanisms
that regulate essential biological functions such as pupil control and circadian rhythm. This research is
especially relevant to those who suffer from certain disorders that disrupt normal biological responses
and functions, such as hypernychthemeral syndrome. Hypernychthemeral syndrome, or Non24, is
characterized by delays in tiredness as well as continuous shifts in awareness. Non24 is just one of

Reducing Gun Violence Essay
Gun violence is a crucial predicament in North American society. The stringent fundamental laws put
in place and enforced by the federal, provincial, and state governments of Canada and the United
States of America are efficacious in dealing with fire arms and the violence that accompanies them. In
essence the American system is flawed; hence the higher death rate due to gun violence in comparison
with Canada. The American system is fallacious because of their adamant belief in the Second
Amendment; which is not of cardinal significance in the 21st century America. The Canadian
governments approach to gun crime reduction is moreover efficient; which is due to the total ban on

Macdonald was prime minister, each province had its own criminal law. Macdonald believed strongly
in the need for a single, uniform regime of criminal law for Canada. The Canadian constitution which
Sir John A. Macdonald helped write, gave the federal government the explicit authority to codify the
criminal law. An advantage of a codification is the implementation of a constitutional principle that no
person can be convicted of an offence unless it has been specifically provided for in a statute. The
complete criminal code of Canada came to fruition in July, 1892 under the guidance of the minister of
justice, and the fourth prime minister of Canada Sir John Sparrow David Thompson. The 1892 version
of the criminal code of Canada was similar to the English 1878 bill. In the year of 1955 there was a
major reform in the criminal code of Canada; the code was reduced from 1100 to 753 sections.

This epic is the oldest surviving Germanic epic as well as the longest and most important poem in Old
English ( Anglo Saxon Literature ). The character, Beowulf, is a fearless warrior who fought the
deadliest monster that no other man was willing to take on. He was considered the strongest of all
warriors so he was called upon to kill the monster Grendel. Beowulf s pride can be seen when
Beowulf states my hands alone shall fight for me; struggle for life against the monster (Raffel 48).
Beowulf wanted to kill the beast with his bare hands because Grendel would not be using a sword
either. This shows how prideful he is of his strength and his capabilities of being able to kill the
monster with his bare hands. After Beowulf kills the monster Grendel, kennings describe him as the
mighty protector of men and Edgetho s brave son ( Pride in Beowulf ). Although there is pride shown
in this epic, biblical concepts are also present. In the epic, it is stated that Grendel, his mother, and
other fiends, goblins, monsters, and giants are descendants of Cain s clan, whom the Creator had
outlawed/ and condemned as outcasts (Raffel 44). The reference to Cain, son of Adam and Eve who
murdered his own brother Abel, shows how Christianity affected the literary works of the pagan
culture. The church s influence can also be seen when it is stated he [Grendel] never dared to touch
king Hrothgar s glorious throne, protected by God (Raffel 45). While the pagan culture s depiction of
pride is strongly seen in Beowulf, the influence of Christianity is also seen with the references of God

The meaning of a unadorned sculpture that one passes by on a routine bases, can end up having a
much more monumental and deep meaning than what an individual may have discerned. Untitled is

side of a little stone pathway. Little patches of grass are peeking up through the mulch. The shape of
the statue resembles that of a horse. As you move closer to the artwork you notice pieces of logs are

Ergotism, The Causes Of The Salem Witch Trials
The Salem Witch Trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of men and women accused of
witchcraft in Massachusetts starting in the winter of 1691 1692. The last of the trials were held in
January of 1693. Several hundreds of men and women were accused and by the end of 1692, 19 men
and women had been put to death for their actions as if the devil were in Salem. Ergotism was the
cause of the Salem Witch Trials. Ergot, which grows on the rye crop, when eaten the fungus can cause
symptoms that the early colonists considered to be witchcraft. Symptoms of ergotism were compared
to those of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and were found very similar to the symptoms of hysteria.
The climate that the rye grows in either promotes or demotes the growth of the fungus. Ergot infects
plants when they are young and causes cells to divide and enlarge, which creates large brown
sclerotia. Sclerotia are hard resting structures that allow the fungus to survive in the harshest
conditions (Volk). Ergotism is a condition that starts to exist because of ergotamines, which are
substances that are produced due to a fungal infection of grains. Ergotamines cause symptoms that
include hallucinations, gastrointestinal discomfort, a burning sensation in limbs and extremities, and
dry gangrene, which is the falling away of dead or dying body tissue due to lack of blood flow. At one

idealistic and unattainable. However this view of Anarchism is, in fact, over simplified itself, and as a

utopian belief.
One of the main reasons that anarchism is often associated with utopianism, is that both are founded

Since the late 1960 s, Jack White s mixed media abstract work, defined as abstract impressionism , has
been inspired by African art forms and symbolism. The works included in the Ancestral Image
exhibition are outside the boundaries of traditional painting or sculpture. They contain elements of the
spiritual, the artistic, and the utilitarian that define African art. Reflecting on his work, White states,
Like most human beings I am curious about my ancestors; as a black American, I can know only that
they came from Africa. Art gives me the power to explore the lives of those ancestors and expose
audiences, minority and mainstream, to my discoveries.
While serving in the Air Force, White was both stimulated and inspired by the cultures he was
exposed to during his world travels. White s global experience manifests in much of his art, with
paintings, that are a mixture of various media that construct abstracted visual landscapes.
White began his more than forty year career in art as an art and education major at Morgan State
University in Baltimore and later continued with graduate studies in Museum Arts at Syracuse

During my observations in her classroom, I observed Reading/Writing and Math lessons. For her Reading/Writing lesson, she discussed cause and effect. She had a couple of examples displayed on the smart board. She read the sentence and called on students to answer specific questions relating to her lesson. Some students were eager to answer and others not so much. Mrs. Lawrence frequently utilizes rhymes and actions, such as rhythm hand clapping to gain her student s attention. She also uses songs to give students enough time to get their things together during lesson transitions or station transitions located throughout her classroom. The sayings and hand actions very catchy, and her signing was a great way to get students to take responsibility for themselves and to do as instructed. Mrs. Lawrence divided her students into four stations or groups during her Reading/Writing and Math lessons. A group of students played educational games on the smart board, a second group would silent read during reading/writing, a third group would work on worksheets, and a fourth group would meet with here for one on one lesson instruction. Written in 1961, Mirror by Sylvia Plath is an emotional poem, successfully personified and narrated through a mirrors point of view. Plath was an American literature figure that wrote poems, novels and several short stories. During her life time, it was always noted that she was chronically gerontophobic, which is the fear of growing old. Plath s poem represents a woman grappling with the reality of ageing and fear losing her beauty. Plath unfolds...... Through the use of several different literary terms. Plath s poem is written in stanzaic form of two stanzas each consisting of nine lines. The double stanza of the poem can be interpreted as catoptric, since the poem is describing the reflections, while also describing its own image. Likewise, both stanzas are equal in length to reflect each other, in that they both have little to no sign of rhyme or rhythm, otherwise known as a free verse poem. The structure of Plath s poem perhaps can serve to reflect the extended figure, for like the woman in this poem we too are entranced by the product of its general simplicity. As Plath s poem shows no evidence of stressed and unstressed syllable patterns or even complicated diction, the poem is written in such a way that, when spoken, it naturally and exquisitely roles of the tongue. As a rhythm booster Plath takes advantage of adding in phrases such as over and over and comes and goes, and in doing this attracts attention to the sound of the word which in turn adds rhythm and flavor. In the beginning of the poem, the speaker starts out to seem young and optimistic, seeing things exactly how they look on the surface, although it does not judge what if feels or sees. The poem opens by describing a graven image of the speaker, silver and exact (line 1), in which the poet felt compelled to immediately certify the speaker. By line 5, the speaker becomes somewhat egotistical, calling itself the eye of a little god. This line displays the mirrors god like powers over the woman looking into the mirror, as she feels eager to acquire a perfect reflection of herself. The power of the mirror is so intnse that is causs the woman to turn to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, you must first know what each pitch does, what the pitch is used to do, and how the pitch is most effective for you. The three main pitches are the fastball, change up, and curveball. To start, the fastball is a pitch that has the most speed out of any other pitch. While the pitch is called a fastball, there are two different types of fastballs: the two seam and the four seam. The two seam fastball is relatively similar to the four seam, however the two seam will move into a right handed batter and away from a left handed batter. The fastball is used to get a strike on the batter, set the batter nup for an offspeed pitch, and often, it is used after an offspeed pitch to disrupt the hitter s timing. Now, the curveball is often the pitch with the lowest velocity. A curveball also has the most movement among all pitches. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The increased fuel efficiency of the hybrids actually makes city driving more economical than highway driving. Overall fuel efficiency (MPG) can be doubled. All of these factors lead to reduced emissions. At this point, it would be appropriate to include a brief summary of the Emission Standards as proposed by the EPA. The Federal mandates on emissions include Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tier 1 took effect in 1997 and was the first call for a reduction in emissions since the 50s. Tier 2 will be phased in beginning 2004. Currently, Tier 1 standards take into account the size of the car when determining emission ratings. When Tier 2 takes effect, the size of the car will no longer matter (i.e. an SUV will be held to the same standards as a subcompact car). The Tier 1 and Tier 2 guidelines only apply to passenger cars. Buses, trucks, and construction equipment will have different mandates. The National LEV (NLEV) standard goes hand in hand with the California Emissions Standards (developed by the CARB: California Air Resources Board). Vaccines were first described by the philosopher Thucydides in 430 B.C. when he said that man would not get the chicken pox twice due to previous exposure.6 This was then expanded on by Edward Jenner in 1796, when he created the first official smallpox vaccine and made it available to the public.2 Vaccines have become a highly debated topic in the medical field today. Around 1965 when the vaccine was officially licensed, the number of cases dramatically dropped down to levels close to zero and has been steadily low ever since. Many think that this is a direct impact of vaccination. Others state increasingly clean standards of living and overall human advancement as the cause and discount the apparent achievements of vaccines. There have been many groups formed over the years that are against vaccines and try to show the public the ineffectiveness and danger of these immunizations. James Russell Lowell successfully defined democracy when it is in its truest form; a citizen s beliefs should be equally represented and considered for. The representative democracy instated in the United States presents the need for three branches in the government; they include the executive, legislative, and judicial branch. The Congress embodies the lawmaking branch of the government, having all legislative powers as it is stated in Article I of the Constitution. The House of Representatives contains more than four times the amount of Senators and serves two year terms compared to a Senator s six year term. Senators also have to be at least thirty years of age with nine years of citizenship while the House sets a twenty five year old minimum with seven years of citizenship (Harrison 408). While the House is led by the Speaker of the House, John Boehner, the Senate is led by the Vice President, who is currently Joe Biden. With 435 members in the House, the House of Representatives is known to be the body that symbolizes the citizens of America. It was intended that the House adhered to the beliefs of the people more than the Senate did, making the House of Representatives a bit more democratic. Senators are voted to represent the beliefs of a whole state; while on the other hand, members of House represent groups of citizens in specific districts of states. Liao, M. Takao, D.M. Berson, K.W. Yau 1. What is the objective/hypothesis/question of this study? (1 point) The objective of this study is to investigate the molecular mechanisms responsible for non image forming visual responses, such as the coordination of the biological clock. Because retinal rod and cone cells are not required for non image forming visual responses, the researchers hypothesized that retinal ganglion cells (RGC) may be the light sensitive cells utilized in the non image forming visual response pathway. The researchers also hypothesized that if the RGCs are light sensitive, then the protein melanopsin, which is found on the surface of RGCs, is likely the photopigment that causes RGCs to respond to light. 2. What is the rationale and relevance of the question? (1 point) This study is important because it allows us to better understand the mechanisms that regulate essential biological functions such as pupil control and circadian rhythm. This research is especially relevant to those who suffer from certain disorders that disrupt normal biological responses and functions, such as hypernychthemeral syndrome. Hypernychthemeral syndrome, or Non24, is characterized by delays in tiredness as well as continuous shifts in awareness. Non24 is just one of many circadian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The American system is fallacious because of their adamant belief in the Second Amendment; which is not of cardinal significance in the 21st century America. Macdonald believed strongly in the need for a single, uniform regime of criminal law for Canada. The Canadian constitution which Sir John A. Macdonald helped write, gave the federal government the explicit authority to codify the criminal law. An advantage of a codification is the implementation of a constitutional principle that no person can be convicted of an offence unless it has been specifically provided for in a statute. The complete criminal code of Canada came to fruition in July, 1892 under the guidance of the minister of justice, and the fourth prime minister of Canada Sir John Sparrow David Thompson. The 1892 version of the criminal code of Canada was similar to the English 1878 bill. In the year of 1955 there was a major reform in the criminal code of Canada; the code was reduced from 1100 to 753 sections. This epic is the oldest surviving Germanic epic as well as the longest and most important poem in Old English ( Anglo Saxon Literature ). The character, Beowulf, is a fearless warrior who fought the deadliest monster that no other man was willing to take on. He was considered the strongest of all warriors so he was called upon to kill the monster Grendel. Beowulf s pride can be seen when Beowulf states my hands alone shall fight for me; struggle for life against the monster (Raffel 48). Beowulf wanted to kill the beast with his bare hands because Grendel would not be using a sword either. This shows how prideful he is of his strength and his capabilities of being able to kill the monster with his bare hands. After Beowulf kills the monster Grendel, kennings describe him as the mighty protector of men and Edgetho s brave son ( Pride in Beowulf ). Although there is pride shown in this epic, biblical concepts are also present. In the epic, it is stated that Grendel, his mother, and other fiends, goblins, monsters, and giants are descendants of Cain s clan, whom the Creator had outlawed/ and condemned as outcasts (Raffel 44). The reference to Cain, son of Adam and Eve who murdered his own brother Abel, shows how Christianity affected the literary works of the pagan culture. The church s influence can also be seen when it is stated he [Grendel] never dared to touch king Hrothgar s glorious throne, protected by God (Raffel 45). While the pagan culture s depiction of pride is strongly seen in Beowulf, the influence of Christianity is also seen with the references of God and the Bible located within the ... The last of the trials were held in January of 1693. Several hundreds of men and women were accused and by the end of 1692, 19 men and women had been put to death for their actions as if the devil were in Salem. Ergotism was the cause of the Salem Witch Trials. Ergot, which grows on the rye crop, when eaten the fungus can cause symptoms that the early colonists considered to be witchcraft. Symptoms of ergotism were compared to those of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and were found very similar to the symptoms of hysteria. The climate that the rye grows in either promotes or demotes the growth of the fungus. Ergot infects plants when they are young and causes cells to divide and enlarge, which creates large brown sclerotia. • 40. Disadvantages Of Anarrchism Coming from the Greek words outopia (meaning nowhere ) and eutopia (meaning good place ), Utopianism is the idea of a perfect society. Although visions of this perfect society vary, most can be characterised by an abolishment of exploitation, greed and conflict. Utopianism is often most associated with Anarchism and because of this, many critics are often quick to deem the ideology idealistic and unattainable. However this view of Anarchism is, in fact, over simplified itself, and as a wider philosophy Anarchism can be broken into much smaller strands all with varying degrees of utopian belief. One of the main reasons that anarchism is often associated with utopianism, is that both are founded on the principle belief of the unlimited possibilities of human nature and self development. This theory actively rejects the social contract theory of Locke and Hobbes which believes that human nature is selfish, greedy and aggressive and thus believes the state is necessary for a secure life. Instead, anarchists believe that social order will arise naturally as humans have the ability to organise their own lives in a harmonious way and reject the idea that the state is necessary. In fact, anarchist ideology states that all authority is evil and it is such, which corrupts those within it and in the words of Lord Acton, power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. .
