Patrick Henry s Speech
Rosser Williams
St. Christopher s
US History
7/30/15
Patrick Henry
Patrick Henry was a prominent lawyer, politician, and orator in colonial America, representing
Hanover County, Virginia in the Second Virginia Convention and Virginia in the Second Continental
Congress (history.org). He is most well known for his proposition to the convention concerning the
institution of a standing army to defend Virginia, and his speech given in defense of said proposition
wherein he boldly challenged the crown to Give me liberty, or give me death
(historicstjohnschurch.org). On March twenty third, 1775, the Second Virginia Convention met at St.
John s Church in Richmond, Virginia to avoid detection by Royal Governor Lord Dunmore who lived

Testing Methods, Witnessing Of Data And Calculations
Spectranetics was founded in 1984, they provide expert tools, training and support designed to help
successfully manage every cardiac lead and to eradicate restenosis and amputation, saving time,
money and, most importantly, lives. For my co op my day to day responsibilities include performing
daily testing for the new product at both the CA and MN site using new equipment currently in the
MN site. I will be also helping to manage the flow of the Fremont, CA lab, reviewing of testing
methods, witnessing of data and calculations. For this project, I will be working directly with Timothy
Hom as he is the manager of the Fremont lab. I will also be working closely with the Maple Grove R
D team and Ying Yang (a Sr. Analytical Development Manager here at Spectranetics, Fremont, CA)
for the validation work required for completion of the project. Since we are an FDA regulated facility,
I must follow the FDA validation protocols in order to have this equipment ready to be used for our
testing purposes.

Music s Influence On Western Music
As far as I m concerned, music has magical power, as the saying goes, music makes a qualities of race
higher and expensive, where have music, where enjoy to melt . I think western music is the most
fashionable music in the world.Even in classical western music, it was also very modern.Western
music has very long history, experienced lots of difficulties and changes. Until now, there are still
many researchers studying western music s history. As I know, early western music mostly were light
music which didn t have lyrics. Only some folk songs have lyrics , but they were not composed by
composers, it was sang randomly by people and then it became more and more popular. With the
development of culture, music developed fast. There appeared
some song writers, they wrote lyrics and matched light music. This form can express people s feelings
more easily and directly. So most modern western music are songs which both have rhythm and lyrics.
1. A brief introduction about western music s characteristics.
Western has three typical characteristics. Firstly, it often refers to the origin of Christian civilization.
Secondly, composers have their own personal creation and personal styles. Thirdly, it has scientific
tradition and the pursue of science..Through books and Internet, we can know some western musicians
such as, Mozart, Bach, Beethoven and so on, they are all very creative musicians. According to these
musicians, we can learn some western music s development. A person

Essay on The First Amendment and its Impact on Media
The First Amendment and its Impact on Media
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to
assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. The first amendment to the
United State s constitution is one of the most important writings in our short history. The first
amendment has defined and shaped our country into what it is today. The amendment has constantly
been challenged and ratified through literature, court cases, and our media. In fact, media is driven by
the first amendment. Without it, we as citizens wouldn t be able to view or listen to what we want, ...

The most famous defamation case, which still sets precedent in today s cases, is New York Times v.
Sullivan (1964). New York Times v. Sullivan (1964) is the leading case on the question of defamation
liability for media defendants. The case, heard before the Supreme Court, declared that public officials
and figures could not recover for an alleged defamation unless they can prove both that the statement
was false, and was made with actual malice. This decision prevents the news media from reporting on
false or slanderous stories. It protects the country s public icons seeing they are almost always in the
spotlight. In addition to defamation hindering media, obscenity and pornography on the net have
placed limitations on what some websites may provide in terms of content.
Under Miller v. California (1973) in order for material to be found obscene by a court of law, the
material must appeal to the prurient interest, as judged against local community standards. The
material must also depict or describe sexual conduct (as defined by applicable state law) in a patently
offensive or indecent way and lack serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value. These
standards apply equally in the context of the Internet as they do in ordinary books and magazines.
Where material is found to be obscene, the First Amendment does not apply. This decision

Educational Disparity And Inequality
The most pressing public policy issue affecting my community is educational disparity and inequality.
Education is the key for racial equality, yet the federal government continues to neglect the
educational discrepancies that plague various African American communities. Opportunities that are
not offered to African American students are a microcosm to the present struggles minorities endure.
The continued growth of the Black middle class since the 1960 s has serve to expand the social and
educational advancement of black students. However, recent reports show that an increased number of
minority high school graduates in urban settings suffer from inadequate school and educational
conditions. Since the 1964 Civil Rights Act that prohibited

Jiro Horikoshi Essay
[Intro]
Jiro Horikoshi, a young Japanese boy, he wants to become an airplane pilot but cannot become one
because of his nearsightedness. Jiro dreams of a famous airplane engineer, Mr. Caproni, who tells him
that designing airplanes is much better. Five years later, he is traveling to college by train to Tokyo
University when suddenly the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 strikes. Here he meets Nahoko as she
asks for help because her maid has broken her leg. Jiro carries Nahoko s maid back to her family and
then leaves without giving his name. Fast forward to 1928 and Jiro has graduated from Tokyo
University and is working at Mitsubishi designing planes. He is sent to Germany after his previous
plane design fails testing and is asked to design a plane for a fighter plane competition sponsored by
the imperial army. His designs fail again and he disappointedly decides to take a vacation at a summer
resort. He meets Nahoko again and they become engaged but she has tuberculosis and will not marry

Jiro s character himself is relatively the same, he said he was quiet and withdrawn but was good at
solving problems. He was anti conflict unless it could be used constructively through argument. He
dreamt of planes he saw in magazines quite often while he was growing up, but never did he dream of
Mr. Caproni. In real life instead of being motivated to design airplanes through Mr. Caproni he found
his motivation through a friend of his brother who had just recently started teaching a college class on
Aeronautics while Jiro was a teen. In the film Jiro did not have a brother and had a sister instead.
Nahoko did not actually die of Tuberculosis, she died of old age after raising two children with Jiro.
Jiro did not learn about his planes impact on the world until after the war where he was shocked to
hear sentiments about his planes like It s easier to pick up a girl than take down a

My Adulthood Memories And Memories Of A Childhood Home
Places are more than less often full of memories. Rooms have narratives that can be told through the
items and furniture they contain. These narratives are often overlooked and not thought about,
especially in places where one does not want to spend a particularly large amount of time. Rooms
speak, even though we often don t want to listen, or don t want to know. Basements are often like this,
full of broken thing and memories, knee deep castaways, childhood toys and holiday lights. The
basement in my childhood home is this way, completely divided into then and now; simply, entirely,
depressing. This room is split into two distinct halves. The stairs are creaky and off white, stained grey
and black from soda spills, muddy shoes, snow slush and dirty dog feet. Clumps of dog hair sit in the
corners of each step, wrapped up into dust balls. At the bottom, to the immediate left, is where a
playroom used to be. There are drawings and old bits of paper stuck up on the walls, hinting as to
what this space used to contain. Now, a large, professional grade ping pong table sits in the middle of
the room. Once loved, the table is now stacked high with towels and laundry. On the wall parallel to
the length of the table is a child s growth chart, drawn in Sharpie on the rigid wall that ruined many a
marker tip. Starting in June 2004 and ending in June of 2017, about 18 lines with corresponding dates
mark the growth of a child. On the adjacent wall, farthest from the

INTRODUCTION TO OSGOOD SCHLATTER Osgood Schlatter also known as osteochondrosis is
classified as a disease that arises in the knee in which the tibial tubercle of apophysis experiences a
detachment from the proximal end of the tibia causing inflammation. Hence, Osgood Schlatter is
basically a disease which causes pain to a hackneyed tibial tuberosity. This disease may be originated
from a trauma or an excessive traction of the soft apophysis of the tibial tuberosity by the patellar
tendon. This lesion often occurs among adolescents as they reach puberty as it is a physical
development period in which it typically occurs in females between the age of ten to twelve and boys

The Fallacy Of Underage Drinking
Description of Flyer This flyer was created with young students in mind, but more specifically high
school level students. The flyer is arguing against underaged drinking and that if you even just take a
sip of alcohol, you then will instantly become addicted and will not attend college, due to your
addiction. I decided to use the slippery slope logical fallacy for my flyer. A slippery slope fallacy is
where someone may do something or an event will happen and the result of that is a drastic leap, most
likely the worst case that could happen, and it has no logical reasoning behind it and leaves out all
other elements in between. I decided to use the common issue of underage drinking as the topic of my
flyer. People can sometimes exaggerate

Department of labor, Bureau of labor Statistics states that a geoscientist analyses the Earth s physical
aspects like its composition, structure, and processes. Their responsibilities include planning field
studies, studying aerial photographs, directing laboratory tests, making geologic maps, and arranging
written scientific reports. Geoscientists use a range of tools to perform their job, such as hammers and
x rays. They will often oversee technicians and coordinate with other scientists (What Geoscientists
Do section).
What Level of Education and Special Training is Required?
For most entry level positions, Geoscientists need at least a bachelor s degree. Some, however, begin
their career with a master s degree. For most basic research and college teaching positions, a Ph.D. is
necessary. A degree in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, engineering, or computer science is
accepted if it includes geology coursework, but a degree in geoscience is favored by employers.
Geoscience programs include courses in mineralogy, petrology, and structural geology. Employers
prefer and seek applicants who have also gained field and laboratory experience (How to Become a

Alice Of Wonderland By Alice Walker
Alice is the main character in Alice in wonderland because she is the first character mentioned in the
play and the story is named after her. Alice is also a shy girl
Alice very quietly wandered away and sat down under a tree pg2
Alice in wonderland takes place during summer in a magical place called wonderland. I know this
because the play is called Alice in wonderland. One warm and quiet summer afternoon, a little girl
named Alice was in her garden . Pg2
Alice doesn t like the world and wants a world of her own where you can do whatever you want If I
had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Pg2
Alice eventually noticed a rabbit and after following it she ended up following in his deep rabbit hole.
During this time she felt very scared. Oh I ve stopped landing and how strange I m in a room... Why
here is a little door. Pg.4
After a long time she hits the ground, except she finds herself in a tiny room. Upon hearing a voice
she realizes that there is a door, talking to her. Oh! Who said that?... I did of course... The doorknob?
pg.4
After drinking a potion she found herself shrinked small enough to fit inside the tiny little door.
Unfortunately she forgot her key that was now up high on the room s table. Thinking she wouldn t
escape the room, she started to cry. Alice wasn t strong but was easily scared at times. She took the

Speech On Birds Of Peril
Birds of Peril
11 species of animals have gone extinct over the past two centuries. To many people, this statement
won t shock them. They will just see it as a statistic. Many others though; would want to do something
to stop this from happening. Natural disasters, their homes are taken, they are hunted, there are many
factors as to why these animals disappear, but people are the number one cause as to why animals
decline so rapidly in numbers.
I know there are people who don t give a rip about animals, and there are some that are in between,
and others that absolutely love animals. The problem here is the people that do not like animals at all.
Trees are cut down, pollution thrown wherever, and not even once do they think about the animals that
occupy these essentials. They do not think about the river that the animals need to drink out of. They
do not think of the birds that live in the trees, or other animals that look to them as a food source.
The thing is, these animals know when their habitat isn t suitable to live in. These birds called raptors
which means carry away in Latin; know when their habitat isn t suitable, which then gives a sign to
other animals to find another place. These birds of prey are in constant threat of being killed, whether
it be by pollution, their homes being taken away or they are shot down in fear of them killing the farm
animals farm owners provide. (animals.mom.me) Raptors are most commonly killed for fear of the
farmer s livestock.

Descriptive Essay On A Dreamy Island
Imagine a place of pure bliss, where time is seemingly endless, simplicity is valued and relaxation is a
top priority. In our everyday lives where stress is customary and chaos is routine, it is hard to visualize
a place of such carefreeness. I too believed there could be no such place until I found it for myself.
When I close my eyes and imagine, I can still clearly hear the gentle splash of the waves lapping the
shoreline, and feel the slight ocean breeze whizz through my hair, sending it flying in every direction.
During phases of anxiety and trouble, there is one place in particular that my heart longs to be. Marco
Island, Florida.
My father proposed the idea of vacationing on Marco Island before the summer of 2016 after hearing
multiple people rave to him about the breathtaking beaches and unforgettable experiences. My mother
and I had never heard of Marco Island, but after five short minutes of browsing through images online
of the picturesque island, we were instantly captivated and could not wait to see it for ourselves. After
what seemed like an eternity of waiting for our trip to commence, we finally arrived on the dreamy
island. Grinning from ear to ear, we buckled ourselves into the rental car, feeling anxious to explore.
Unlike in Missouri, glossy green palm trees lined every street, which made us feel like we had entered
an alternate universe. Rather than staying at a hotel, we rented a beach house that was supposedly only
a six minute walk from Marco

Comparing Hitchcock Film Rope And Superman s Crime
Freud says that there are no coincidences and that everything happens for a reason. In the classic
Hitchcock film, Rope, two young students, Brandon Shaw enacted by John Dall and Phillip Morgan
enacted by Farley Granger strangle a former classmate, David Kentley played by Dick Hogan. This
film portrays the true crime story of Loeb and Leopold as also written about in Superman s Crime, by
Miriam Allen deFord. In 1924, Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb, the adolescent sons of two wealthy
Chicago families, who were indicted for kidnapping and killing Bobby Franks, a 14 year old boy.

In the film Rope an entire evening of a dinner party is held in the same room where there is a dead
body in a book chest. The guests are completely impervious of the chest disguised as a buffet table.
Only the viewers and the two hosts were conscious of the truth that lay near them. In Superman s
Crime we are given in depth detail about Loeb and Leopold s master plan before it has taken place.
Hitchcock did not show the viewers what happened prior to the strangulation of David or subsequent
to the call made to the police. This was an engrossing way of filming a movie. The movie was made to
look like it was taken in one continuous shot. This caused the viewer to know what happened the
whole time. In both the true crime story and film the readers and viewers were knew what was going
on during the entire plot scene. These were great definitions of what a dramatic irony is. But the way
Hitchcock does not include the premeditation of the murder is powerful in itself. This glamorized the
plotline by showing a clean scene with no obvious camera

The Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC)
In the art and literature memorializing the Civil Rights movement, no one individual is more
prominently represented than Martin Luther King Jr. . He is remembered in books, statues, and even
streets bearing his name in almost every city. One historian said, We trapped King in romantic
images... frozen his legacy in worship. King has become the martyr of the Civil Rights Movement and
his legacy has thus overshadowed the legacy of the other activists and groups who helped move the
Civil Rights movement forward, including the Student Non Violent Coordinating Committee, an
organization created by southern black youth. Though King s actions were powerful tools in the push
for racial equality, his efforts were only a part of the overall impetus driving the United States towards
equality. The Student Non Violent Coordinating Committee ( SNCC ) led activism in a community
based, long term protest fashion. At the same time the Southern Christian Leadership Council ( SCLC
), the group led by Dr. King, used a media powered and more presentation based protest method to
rally Americans at the national level. Towards the end of the Civil Rights Movement SNCC became
more radical in its approach, eventually leading to its own demise, while the SCLC stayed religiously
peaceful. The different ideas and sometimes contradicting actions of the Student Nonviolent
Coordinating Committee and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference eventually helped lead to
the racial equality as we know it

Reality Check On Year-Round Schooling

Reality Check on Year Round Schooling Many people, including President Barack Obama believe that
year round schooling is the best option for American students, because the year round system gives
students equal amount of time in school, while increasing the efficiency of a single school building
(Ave 1B). More than two million students in some three thousand U.S. schools attend year round
programs in 41 states (Lawson 48). This astonishing number seems large, but really is only 2% of
students in the United States. Many of the perceived advantages of year round schooling revolve
around cost and learning efficiency, but in reality the traditional system gives essentially equal ...

Also, without public support, year round will fail because the parent s reluctance to send their children
(Gee, 795). Parent reluctance comes from the lack of synchronized time off for vacation. Work
schedules do not typically run on a 45/15 plan and without three months break, families lose time for a
vacation. If a school decides to go year round, communication between the community and school
would have must be very clear as to when students are supposed to be in school (Wildman et al. 465).
The disadvantages of year round schooling are just as important as the advantages. Cost and benefits
in learning show through the massive 98% of students that attend nine month systems. When a school

Raising Your Game With These Professional Casino Tips

Myths and rumours go hand in hand when it comes to online casinos. The feeling that the games

least once in their life. Let me tell you now, success is not something that is predetermined, it comes
about through skill. The following are online casino tips direct from the professionals that can help
you raise your game and banish away the bad luck.

The bets maybe lower and the short term gains might be smaller, but over the long term there is no
doubt that you ll be able to find more success. Lower skilled games are branded safety nets in some
playing circles, but the fact is that if it isn t broke don t fix it.
Know when to walk away
It is undoubtedly the most important tip in this article and one that every player should take note of.
Gambling is an activity that should be fun and not something that weighs on your mind and stresses
you out. If you feel that gambling is costing you much more than you realised then you must walk
away. Losing streaks can steamroll out of control and clear your account entirely if you are not
careful. One thing that many professionals choose to do is to employ cool down periods for when
things start going wrong. This means that if you are losing hand after hand or spin after spin, you
invoke a time frame, whether be 1 day or 100 days, in which you don t gamble. This will prevent you
ending up gambling money you shouldn t and preserve whatever money you have left.

Of Creon The Tragic Hero In Sophocles Antigone
What is a tragic hero? A tragic hero is someone who was well respected, but their tragic flaw led to
their fall. In Sophocles Antigone, it could be argued that either Creon or Antigone is the tragic hero. I
argue Creon is the tragic hero in this play. Antigone has the main character as Antigone the daughter
of the famous Oedipus, who married his mother and killed his father. At the beginning of the play
Oedipus has died and Antigone s power hungry brothers have killed each other, Polynices being made
as a traitor and left unburied, worthless. Antigone s sister, Ismene, is her only sibling left, though she
is one to follow the rules. Antigone plans to bury her brother even though Creon has forbid it, this is
where the conflict begins. Antigone

The Problem Of Violence Against Women
Literature Review
The problem my group decided to address is violence against women. Violence against women can be
defined as a pattern of abusive, violent or coercive behaviors. These behaviors are used against the
victim in an intimate relationship to control their thoughts, beliefs or behaviors. The abuser uses
violence to hold power and dominance over the victim of violence. Not only do they physically violate
the victim, they also isolate the individual from her support system, making it tougher for her to
receive help and leave the horrific situation. This is a prevalent issue in America that does not receive
the attention it deserves. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, every nine
seconds a woman in the United States is being assaulted, that equivalates to one in every three woman
have been a victim of some form of violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. According to
Evaluating the Effect of a Specialized MSW Course on Violence Against Women, it is evident that
rates of violence against women occur at astonishing rates in the United States. A national survey s
results exemplify these rates, the results indicated that 52% of women were physically assaulted as a
child by an adult caretaker or as an adult by any type of perpetrator; 18% experienced a completed or
attempted rape at some point in their lives; and 8% reported being stalked at some point in their lives

Leashed Child
Consider for a second your childhood memories. Maybe you thought of freedom, of exploration and
independent play. For many children today, the most memorable moments of their youth will not be
any of these; for many children today, they will remember the child harness; a leash attached to a child
s backpack that restricts a child s mobility to their parents . It s a growing trend, popular with busy,
metropolitan parents that, as a father, I find worrying. Why would a parent be so demeaning,
neglecting and restrictive to their children?
Yes, a leash on a child is demeaning. Last week, I was with my family, walking the dog. Trekking
through our neighbourhood, a leashed boy passed us as we stopped to let our leashed dog urinate.
As he walked on, with genuine curiosity, the leashed child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only I, but the boy himself knew that in wearing a leash, he was being likened to, and treated as, a
pet: Less than human. To limit a child s movement in such a way is limiting their freedom; a born
entitlement. Taking away this right puts the child below a person;
To demean and dehumanise a child with such an accessory is wrong.
This is a contentious point, but nonetheless, the parent is neglecting their child in constricting them as
opposed to educating them in discipline and boundaries, a critical point once the child ages beyond the
leash. Parents are expected to be able to chase down their more excitable children and educate them
on the dangers of running off. Doing so keeps the child from trying to run off and the child would gain
responsibility. In contrast, if a parent attached a leash to the child, if they were to run, all that would be
required is to pull them back as if nothing had happened. Yes, perhaps at the time the leashed child is
safe, but I fear for the child who is one day taken off the leash and does not know how to act
responsibly in busy metropolitan areas. To use a child leash to neglect this point is ignoring a parent s

Japanese cinema has definitely changed over the years. In the 1940s the country entered war, fighting
battles in the homeland as well as overseas. One of these wars were on screen in the film industry.
Once war broke out both the American and Japanese film industry s converted to war production and
saw great success at the pushing box offices in a time where our economy was not the best. As we
look back we can see how cinema was greatly affected before during and after the war .
The Japanese film industry began in 1899 with the start of silent films, One Movie that was filmed
before the war is Oatsurae Jirokichi goshi. It was filmed in 1931 by a Japanese director by the name of
Daisuke Itƍ. This film was completely silent and was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This movie however had a solder give a little speech before watching it talking about the true
American soldier and how important it is to show our support. By the late 1942 nearly one third of the
features dealt directly with the war effort.
This next Japanese film came out after the war .Seven Samurai[came out in 1954 by the company
Toho and the director Akira Kurosawa The film takes place in 1587 in Japan. It follows the story of a
village of farmers that hire seven masterless samurai (ronin) to combat bandits who will return after
the harvest to steal their crops. (wiki 1)Many people agree this movie has been one of the greatest
films ever made. Soon after the war in 1949 a film called Malaya came out in America the plot was

world events that bring in money.
Years after the war movie going was an essential ritual for American families. The studios and theater

Conflict And Violence Between Abrahamic Religions
The history of conflict and violence between the Abrahamic religions has a long and tragic tradition.
Despite their reasons for disagreement and differences, these three religions have many things in
common. Followers of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are monotheists, meaning they belive in only
one God. All three religons have overlapping fugures like Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Perhaps the
moset notable of these figures is Abraham. jews consider Abraham their founder as well as their
ancestor. CChristians think of Abrahm as an ancestor of Jesus, both spiritually as well as physically
Muslims view Abraham as a prophet of God. all of these religons ahve a set of rules, or guidlines on

Despite their reasons for disagreementJudaism is almost the same thing as the oOld Testament in the
Christian, or Gospal bible. The Qur;an (Islam) states God revealed the Torah and Gospel as a guide for
people, just as the Qur an is a guide for Muslims. In all three of the religions theirr sacred texts are
ysed for worship and prayer. The sabbath, a day for rest and prayer is celebrated in some form by all
the Abrahamic religions. Anouther way these religions are similar is they all have a holiday, or period
of time when they musst give up something. For cChristians thes period is Kknown as Lent.. Lent is
where each person must give up something to represent Jesus giving jis life for mankind. Islam does
something like Lent, called fasting. This is where Muslims don t eat while the sun is up for the monthe
of Ramadan. Jews have a time called the Days of Repentance where in order to be forgivine by God,
tthey can do good deeds, or sacrifice somthing in a Charitable act. All three of the religions have
similar places of worship, where they either pray, or listen to a religious leader. For Jews this place is
called a sSynagogue, for Christians a church, and for Islams a mMosque , or Masjid. These are some
of the many similar things in texts and practices of the three Abrahamic

Misrepresentation of Women in The Media Essay
People learn more from media than any other single source of information (Missrepresentation). This
quote exemplifies how society learns and creates their standards about people, places, and things. All
sources and mediums of media impact billions of lives every day. The media holds this power over
society and it s time to change that; especially when it comes to the media s view of women. Women
are constantly being misrepresented. This misrepresentation of women in the media is negatively
impacting America by corrupting both the youth and adults. This is occurring because of the hyper
sexualization of women, wrongly portraying women in leadership positions, and creating stereotypes
of women in movies and television. You can t be what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Victoria s Secret is allowed to have models prance around on screen but Lane Bryant Ads
(lingerie for plus size women) is banned then there s a problem. The media is portraying these models
who are thin to the point where it is unhealthy. And the media is feeding society lies. A perfect
example is of Gerran Tyler. Tyler was a 12 year old supermodel. She walks the run way for clients like
Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, and Betsey Johnson. She s tall, thin, the perfect model because she hasn t
hit puberty yet. She walked during New York Fashion Week and posed for these designer brands
advertisements. This body type is unachievable for almost all adult women (Roberts). Somebody in
their twenties or thirties doesn t have the ability to look like a twelve year old girl, but this is how
these designers are telling us to look. Tyler had an amazing career and high expectations but the fame
didn t last long. As she got older and hit puberty she began to develop boobs, hips, and curves. She
began getting less and less bookings. Her supermodel career was virtually over. Eighty percent of 10
year old American girls say they have been on a diet and the, Number one magic wish for young girls

these unobtainable ideas of beauty. Jennifer Siebel, creator of the documentary Missrepresentation,

World Record For Fastest Production Car
You might be familiar with the car company Bugatti, now owned by Volkswagen. Their Bugatti
Veyron Super Sport holds the Guinness World Record for Fastest Production Car. The Bugatti brand
has a long history, beginning in 1909 with Automobiles Ettore Bugatti, a company founded by Ettore
Bugatti.
Ettore Bugatti was born in Italy in 1881 to a family of artists. Bugatti began to establish himself as a
car designer as early as 1901, when his Bugatti Type 2 car won a gold medal at the International
Breeding and Sport Exhibition in Milan, Italy. Bugatti carried on his family s artistic legacy in the
design of his race cars, which became renowned for their speed, power, and elegant design. But he
didn t just make cars.

Here is a quote about De Monge s design philosophy from an article in the Air and Space Magazine:
De Monge left no written record of the thinking that went into the airplane (though he made some
intriguing remarks during an interview conducted late in his life, while he was working as an
automotive engineer in the United States). But [Scotty] Wilson is convinced that de Monge adhered to
the design philosophy espoused by Antoine de Saint Exupéry, the beloved French author and World
War II P 38 pilot: Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is
nothing left to take away.
An example of this philosophy was the removal of a conventional canopy (the glass enclosure around
the pilot). Most fighter aircraft at the time were built with the engine in the nose just behind the
propeller. To allow the pilot to see past the engine, these fighters were built with raised canopies that
sat on top of the fuselage. But having these extra bulges increases drag. Bugatti got around this by
putting the pilot in the nose of the aircraft, and moving the engines. The engines were put behind the
pilot and a system of drive shafts powered the propellers.
After the designs were mostly finalized, construction began. The airplane was built in Paris in the
second floor of a furniture shop.
The frame and skin of the airplane were made almost entirely out of wood, despite the difficulties
involved with shaping wood into rounded shapes. Usually, body

To Her Father With None
The poem To her father with some verses by Anne Bradstreet details a women s attempt to show
praise for her father while being unable repay him all that he has done for her. The first thing that
initially hits the reader is the tone of the poem. The first few lines paint an overall sad atmosphere that
continually engulfs the reader as the poem continues. The conclusion fo the poem leaves the reader in
a depressed state knowing that no matter what the women in the poem does, she can never repay what
her father has done for her. Add this with the fact the narrator mentions she plans to continue this
repayment until the day she dies. These ideas offer a similar take on Puritan culture. Puritan families
typically had the men spend enormous amounts

Mental Health History Of Schizophrenia
God must have been having a bad day, a father recently wrote me, when He allowed schizophrenia to
come into existence. E. Fuller Torrey, M.D. (Walsh, 1985)
1. History of schizophrenic theory Accounts of schizophrenia have been recorded all throughout
human history. From Mesopotamia, ancient Greece, Rome and India, all the way through the 15th and
17th centuries (Walker, 2003). It is difficult to truly ascertain whether or not this was schizophrenia or
other psychotic illnesses. My guess is it was probably both. Throughout mental health history, theory
on schizophrenia has changed in every aspect possible. Etiology, age of onset and even the disorder s
name has been changed, questioned, and changed yet again. The highly insightful ... Show more

Bleuler was an advocate for the psychoanalytic movement which had strong traction during his time.
Hafner (2014) writes that Bleuler classified the now hallmark symptoms of delusions and
hallucinations as accessory symptoms , since they were common in other psychotic disorders as well.
The basic symptoms, Bleuler argued, were the four A s, which stood for ambivalence, autism,
affective congruity and association disturbances. This is not surprising, since Bleuler was an advocate
of the psychoanalytic movement, so to Bleuler, emotional disturbances were obviously the cause of a
schizophrenic disturbance. The differing early views of Kraeplin and Bleuler are significantly
important to our current understanding of schizophrenia in the fact that both could be considered
partially correct. Kraeplin s claims could be, in today s terms, highlighting the neurobiological deficits
(such as gradual overall volumetric loss of key neuronal structures and genetic predispositions towards
structural deficits occurring during crucial developmental periods) that current researchers are
investigating as contributing causes of schizophrenia. On the other hand, Bleuler s claims of emotional
disturbances probably are not one of the primary causes of developing schizophrenia, but
schizophrenia s symptoms and comorbid disorders can be exacerbated by the schizophrenic individual

  • 4. Music s Influence On Western Music As far as I m concerned, music has magical power, as the saying goes, music makes a qualities of race higher and expensive, where have music, where enjoy to melt . I think western music is the most fashionable music in the world.Even in classical western music, it was also very modern.Western music has very long history, experienced lots of difficulties and changes. Until now, there are still many researchers studying western music s history. As I know, early western music mostly were light music which didn t have lyrics. Only some folk songs have lyrics , but they were not composed by composers, it was sang randomly by people and then it became more and more popular. With the development of culture, music developed fast. There appeared some song writers, they wrote lyrics and matched light music. This form can express people s feelings more easily and directly. So most modern western music are songs which both have rhythm and lyrics. 1. A brief introduction about western music s characteristics. Western has three typical characteristics. Firstly, it often refers to the origin of Christian civilization. Secondly, composers have their own personal creation and personal styles. Thirdly, it has scientific tradition and the pursue of science..Through books and Internet, we can know some western musicians such as, Mozart, Bach, Beethoven and so on, they are all very creative musicians. The first amendment to the United State s constitution is one of the most important writings in our short history. The first amendment has defined and shaped our country into what it is today. The amendment has constantly been challenged and ratified through literature, court cases, and our media. In fact, media is driven by the first amendment. The most famous defamation case, which still sets precedent in today s cases, is New York Times v. Sullivan (1964). New York Times v. Sullivan (1964) is the leading case on the question of defamation liability for media defendants. The case, heard before the Supreme Court, declared that public officials and figures could not recover for an alleged defamation unless they can prove both that the statement was false, and was made with actual malice. This decision prevents the news media from reporting on false or slanderous stories. It protects the country s public icons seeing they are almost always in the spotlight. In addition to defamation hindering media, obscenity and pornography on the net have placed limitations on what some websites may provide in terms of content. Under Miller v. California (1973) in order for material to be found obscene by a court of law, the material must appeal to the prurient interest, as judged against local community standards. The material must also depict or describe sexual conduct (as defined by applicable state law) in a patently offensive or indecent way and lack serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value. These standards apply equally in the context of the Internet as they do in ordinary books and magazines. Where material is found to be obscene, the First Amendment does not apply. This decision ... Education is the key for racial equality, yet the federal government continues to neglect the educational discrepancies that plague various African American communities. Opportunities that are not offered to African American students are a microcosm to the present struggles minorities endure. The continued growth of the Black middle class since the 1960 s has serve to expand the social and educational advancement of black students. • 7. Jiro Horikoshi Essay [Intro] Jiro Horikoshi, a young Japanese boy, he wants to become an airplane pilot but cannot become one because of his nearsightedness. Jiro dreams of a famous airplane engineer, Mr. Caproni, who tells him that designing airplanes is much better. Five years later, he is traveling to college by train to Tokyo University when suddenly the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 strikes. Here he meets Nahoko as she asks for help because her maid has broken her leg. Jiro carries Nahoko s maid back to her family and then leaves without giving his name. Fast forward to 1928 and Jiro has graduated from Tokyo University and is working at Mitsubishi designing planes. He is sent to Germany after his previous plane design fails testing and is asked to design a plane for a fighter plane competition sponsored by the imperial army. In real life instead of being motivated to design airplanes through Mr. Caproni he found his motivation through a friend of his brother who had just recently started teaching a college class on Aeronautics while Jiro was a teen. • 8. My Adulthood Memories And Memories Of A Childhood Home Places are more than less often full of memories. Rooms have narratives that can be told through the items and furniture they contain. These narratives are often overlooked and not thought about, especially in places where one does not want to spend a particularly large amount of time. Rooms speak, even though we often don t want to listen, or don t want to know. Basements are often like this, full of broken thing and memories, knee deep castaways, childhood toys and holiday lights. The basement in my childhood home is this way, completely divided into then and now; simply, entirely, depressing. This room is split into two distinct halves. The stairs are creaky and off white, stained grey and black from soda spills, muddy shoes, snow slush and dirty dog feet. Clumps of dog hair sit in the corners of each step, wrapped up into dust balls. At the bottom, to the immediate left, is where a playroom used to be. There are drawings and old bits of paper stuck up on the walls, hinting as to what this space used to contain. Now, a large, professional grade ping pong table sits in the middle of the room. Once loved, the table is now stacked high with towels and laundry. On the wall parallel to the length of the table is a child s growth chart, drawn in Sharpie on the rigid wall that ruined many a marker tip. • 10. The Fallacy Of Underage Drinking Description of Flyer This flyer was created with young students in mind, but more specifically high school level students. The flyer is arguing against underaged drinking and that if you even just take a sip of alcohol, you then will instantly become addicted and will not attend college, due to your addiction. I decided to use the slippery slope logical fallacy for my flyer. A slippery slope fallacy is where someone may do something or an event will happen and the result of that is a drastic leap, most likely the worst case that could happen, and it has no logical reasoning behind it and leaves out all other elements in between. • 14. Speech On Birds Of Peril Birds of Peril 11 species of animals have gone extinct over the past two centuries. To many people, this statement won t shock them. They will just see it as a statistic. Many others though; would want to do something to stop this from happening. Natural disasters, their homes are taken, they are hunted, there are many factors as to why these animals disappear, but people are the number one cause as to why animals decline so rapidly in numbers. I know there are people who don t give a rip about animals, and there are some that are in between, and others that absolutely love animals. The problem here is the people that do not like animals at all. Trees are cut down, pollution thrown wherever, and not even once do they think about the animals that occupy these essentials. They do not think about the river that the animals need to drink out of. They do not think of the birds that live in the trees, or other animals that look to them as a food source. The thing is, these animals know when their habitat isn t suitable to live in. These birds called raptors which means carry away in Latin; know when their habitat isn t suitable, which then gives a sign to other animals to find another place. These birds of prey are in constant threat of being killed, whether it be by pollution, their homes being taken away or they are shot down in fear of them killing the farm animals farm owners provide. • 15. Descriptive Essay On A Dreamy Island Imagine a place of pure bliss, where time is seemingly endless, simplicity is valued and relaxation is a top priority. In our everyday lives where stress is customary and chaos is routine, it is hard to visualize a place of such carefreeness. I too believed there could be no such place until I found it for myself. When I close my eyes and imagine, I can still clearly hear the gentle splash of the waves lapping the shoreline, and feel the slight ocean breeze whizz through my hair, sending it flying in every direction. During phases of anxiety and trouble, there is one place in particular that my heart longs to be. Marco Island, Florida. My father proposed the idea of vacationing on Marco Island before the summer of 2016 after hearing multiple people rave to him about the breathtaking beaches and unforgettable experiences. My mother and I had never heard of Marco Island, but after five short minutes of browsing through images online of the picturesque island, we were instantly captivated and could not wait to see it for ourselves. After what seemed like an eternity of waiting for our trip to commence, we finally arrived on the dreamy island. Grinning from ear to ear, we buckled ourselves into the rental car, feeling anxious to explore. Unlike in Missouri, glossy green palm trees lined every street, which made us feel like we had entered an alternate universe. In the classic Hitchcock film, Rope, two young students, Brandon Shaw enacted by John Dall and Phillip Morgan enacted by Farley Granger strangle a former classmate, David Kentley played by Dick Hogan. This film portrays the true crime story of Loeb and Leopold as also written about in Superman s Crime, by Miriam Allen deFord. In 1924, Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb, the adolescent sons of two wealthy Chicago families, who were indicted for kidnapping and killing Bobby Franks, a 14 year old boy. In Superman s Crime we are given in depth detail about Loeb and Leopold s master plan before it has taken place. Hitchcock did not show the viewers what happened prior to the strangulation of David or subsequent to the call made to the police. This was an engrossing way of filming a movie. The movie was made to look like it was taken in one continuous shot. This caused the viewer to know what happened the whole time. In both the true crime story and film the readers and viewers were knew what was going on during the entire plot scene. These were great definitions of what a dramatic irony is. • 17. The Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) In the art and literature memorializing the Civil Rights movement, no one individual is more prominently represented than Martin Luther King Jr. . He is remembered in books, statues, and even streets bearing his name in almost every city. One historian said, We trapped King in romantic images... frozen his legacy in worship. King has become the martyr of the Civil Rights Movement and his legacy has thus overshadowed the legacy of the other activists and groups who helped move the Civil Rights movement forward, including the Student Non Violent Coordinating Committee, an organization created by southern black youth. Though King s actions were powerful tools in the push for racial equality, his efforts were only a part of the overall impetus driving the United States towards equality. The Student Non Violent Coordinating Committee ( SNCC ) led activism in a community based, long term protest fashion. At the same time the Southern Christian Leadership Council ( SCLC ), the group led by Dr. King, used a media powered and more presentation based protest method to rally Americans at the national level. Towards the end of the Civil Rights Movement SNCC became more radical in its approach, eventually leading to its own demise, while the SCLC stayed religiously peaceful. The different ideas and sometimes contradicting actions of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference eventually helped lead to the racial equality as we know it ... Reality Check On Year-Round Schooling Olivia Draper Mrs. Mercer Honors Freshman Lit. 21 February 2017 Reality Check on Year Round Schooling Many people, including President Barack Obama believe that year round schooling is the best option for American students, because the year round system gives students equal amount of time in school, while increasing the efficiency of a single school building (Ave 1B). More than two million students in some three thousand U.S. schools attend year round programs in 41 states (Lawson 48). In Sophocles Antigone, it could be argued that either Creon or Antigone is the tragic hero. I argue Creon is the tragic hero in this play. Antigone has the main character as Antigone the daughter of the famous Oedipus, who married his mother and killed his father. At the beginning of the play Oedipus has died and Antigone s power hungry brothers have killed each other, Polynices being made as a traitor and left unburied, worthless. It is clear that Ginsberg views religion as a box that he refuses to be restricted in. His longing to be free from this institution can be described in the book 1959: The Year Everything Changed. Ginsberg, too, saw the connection between freedom from structures in poetry and freedom from structures in all of life. The difference was that Ginsberg yearned for both freedoms (Page 35). Strategic information can increase the number of frequent fliers through various ways. Airline companies have the opportunity to gather information through various techniques such as consumer surveys to understand what costumers like and dislike with not only the respective company but any other competitors as well. Airline companies can identify incentives to offer such as free baggage, free flights, early boarding or even partnerships with other non airline companies to retain loyalty customers. • 24. The Problem Of Violence Against Women Literature Review The problem my group decided to address is violence against women. Violence against women can be defined as a pattern of abusive, violent or coercive behaviors. These behaviors are used against the victim in an intimate relationship to control their thoughts, beliefs or behaviors. The abuser uses violence to hold power and dominance over the victim of violence. Not only do they physically violate the victim, they also isolate the individual from her support system, making it tougher for her to receive help and leave the horrific situation. This is a prevalent issue in America that does not receive the attention it deserves. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, every nine seconds a woman in the United States is being assaulted, that equivalates to one in every three woman have been a victim of some form of violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. According to Evaluating the Effect of a Specialized MSW Course on Violence Against Women, it is evident that rates of violence against women occur at astonishing rates in the United States. A national survey s results exemplify these rates, the results indicated that 52% of women were physically assaulted as a child by an adult caretaker or as an adult by any type of perpetrator; 18% experienced a completed or attempted rape at some point in their lives; and 8% reported being stalked at some point in their lives (McMahon, Postmus, Warrener, Plummer Schwartz, 2013). • 25. Leashed Child Consider for a second your childhood memories. Maybe you thought of freedom, of exploration and independent play. For many children today, the most memorable moments of their youth will not be any of these; for many children today, they will remember the child harness; a leash attached to a child s backpack that restricts a child s mobility to their parents . It s a growing trend, popular with busy, metropolitan parents that, as a father, I find worrying. Why would a parent be so demeaning, neglecting and restrictive to their children? Yes, a leash on a child is demeaning. Last week, I was with my family, walking the dog. Trekking through our neighbourhood, a leashed boy passed us as we stopped to let our leashed dog urinate. As he walked on, with genuine curiosity, the leashed child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only I, but the boy himself knew that in wearing a leash, he was being likened to, and treated as, a pet: Less than human. To limit a child s movement in such a way is limiting their freedom; a born entitlement. Taking away this right puts the child below a person; To demean and dehumanise a child with such an accessory is wrong. This is a contentious point, but nonetheless, the parent is neglecting their child in constricting them as opposed to educating them in discipline and boundaries, a critical point once the child ages beyond the leash. Parents are expected to be able to chase down their more excitable children and educate them on the dangers of running off. Doing so keeps the child from trying to run off and the child would gain responsibility. In contrast, if a parent attached a leash to the child, if they were to run, all that would be required is to pull them back as if nothing had happened. Yes, perhaps at the time the leashed child is safe, but I fear for the child who is one day taken off the leash and does not know how to act responsibly in busy metropolitan areas. To use a child leash to neglect this point is ignoring a parent s basic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Here is a quote about De Monge s design philosophy from an article in the Air and Space Magazine: De Monge left no written record of the thinking that went into the airplane (though he made some intriguing remarks during an interview conducted late in his life, while he was working as an automotive engineer in the United States). But [Scotty] Wilson is convinced that de Monge adhered to the design philosophy espoused by Antoine de Saint Exupéry, the beloved French author and World War II P 38 pilot: Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away. An example of this philosophy was the removal of a conventional canopy (the glass enclosure around the pilot). Most fighter aircraft at the time were built with the engine in the nose just behind the propeller. To allow the pilot to see past the engine, these fighters were built with raised canopies that sat on top of the fuselage. But having these extra bulges increases drag. Bugatti got around this by putting the pilot in the nose of the aircraft, and moving the engines. The engines were put behind the pilot and a system of drive shafts powered the propellers. After the designs were mostly finalized, construction began. The airplane was built in Paris in the second floor of a furniture shop. The frame and skin of the airplane were made almost entirely out of wood, despite the difficulties involved with shaping wood into rounded shapes. Usually, body ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first thing that initially hits the reader is the tone of the poem. The first few lines paint an overall sad atmosphere that continually engulfs the reader as the poem continues. The conclusion fo the poem leaves the reader in a depressed state knowing that no matter what the women in the poem does, she can never repay what her father has done for her. Fuller Torrey, M.D. (Walsh, 1985) 1. History of schizophrenic theory Accounts of schizophrenia have been recorded all throughout human history. From Mesopotamia, ancient Greece, Rome and India, all the way through the 15th and 17th centuries (Walker, 2003). It is difficult to truly ascertain whether or not this was schizophrenia or other psychotic illnesses. My guess is it was probably both. Throughout mental health history, theory on schizophrenia has changed in every aspect possible. Bleuler was an advocate for the psychoanalytic movement which had strong traction during his time. Hafner (2014) writes that Bleuler classified the now hallmark symptoms of delusions and hallucinations as accessory symptoms , since they were common in other psychotic disorders as well. The basic symptoms, Bleuler argued, were the four A s, which stood for ambivalence, autism, affective congruity and association disturbances. This is not surprising, since Bleuler was an advocate of the psychoanalytic movement, so to Bleuler, emotional disturbances were obviously the cause of a schizophrenic disturbance. The differing early views of Kraeplin and Bleuler are significantly important to our current understanding of schizophrenia in the fact that both could be considered partially correct. Kraeplin s claims could be, in today s terms, highlighting the neurobiological deficits (such as gradual overall volumetric loss of key neuronal structures and genetic predispositions towards structural deficits occurring during crucial developmental periods) that current researchers are investigating as contributing causes of schizophrenia. On the other hand, Bleuler s claims of emotional disturbances probably are not one of the primary causes of developing schizophrenia, but schizophrenia s symptoms and comorbid disorders can be exacerbated by the schizophrenic individual s ...
