Introduction
According to research, it has established that breast cancer is one of the leading cause of cancer death
among Hispanic women despite them having a low incidence rate of breast cancer. It has attributed to
the fact that most Hispanic women presents with advanced breast cancer at diagnosis, and thus is more
likely to die from breast cancer compared with non Hispanic white women. According to Banegas and
Li (2012), an estimated number of 39510 breast cancer deaths in women occurred, and 226,870 new
breast cancer cases were diagnosed in the US. Among all these cases, Hispanic women ... Show more

Analysis Of Beuys s The Pursuit Of A Social Art
Beuys work revolved around an interaction with his audience in the pursuit of a social art. Beuys
defined social sculpture as how we mould and shape the world in which we live. This is not too
dissimilar from Lefebvre nations of social space. It is within this context which he makes his famous
claim, everyone is an artist. Here he envisioned an art form, in which society could be regarded as one
great work of art, (an interpretation of the Wagnerian Gesamtkunstwerk) to which each person can
contribute creatively. He viewed the art he made as being a stimulant for the transformation of the idea
of sculpture. They should provoke thoughts about what sculpture can be and how the concept of
sculpting can be extended to the invisible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was during the 1960s that Beuys theoretical thought about the social, cultural and political function
of art manifested in to a physical work. Perhaps one of his most seminal works, 7000 oaks,
exemplified his belief that art could take on a form which was defined as both interdisciplinary and
participatory. Beuys placed a pile of stones in the town Kassel, Germany. From above one could see
that this pile of stones created an arrow, which pointed toward a single oak tree. He stated that the
stones should not be moved unless an oak tree was planted in the new location of the stone, over the
course of several years 7,000 oak trees were then planted by people of the town. R
This notion of a social, participatory art form can also be seen in the writing of Nicolas Bourriaud,
who wrote why wouldn t the meaning of a work have as much to do with the use one makes of it as
with the artists intentions for it. With both social sculpture and architecture, as with physical
architecture, a dialogue exists between use and structure. To a certain degree structure determines use
and yet use also effects structure. Use is both constructive and destructive, it manipulates and
transforms object to its needs. Contemplation the way in which art would traditionally be experienced,
is neither constructive or

The Environmental And Societal Impact Of Waste Management...
Introduction
Emerging understanding of the environmental and societal impact of waste management has led to a
significant development of municipally lead practices under the model of sustainable resource
management (Cimpan, 2015). Recycling the recovery of the material value in waste provides
opportunities for both economic and environmental sustainability by reducing fuels usage, carbon
dioxide emissions, and the quantity of waste sent to landfills. The United States Environmental
Protection Agency has identified that one year of recycled material translates to a reduction of 186
million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, and 40% of the material waste that annually ends up in US
landfills are products that could have been recycled (Trudel). Decreasing landfill space and increasing
urban waste generation require the implementation of both an effective and efficient recycling system,
as recycling is a costly waste management strategy for municipalities (Lakhan, 2015). Single stream
sorting and dual stream sorting programs are popular policy responses to municipal managing of
recyclables. There are several context specific factors that impact the efficiency and effectiveness of
both sorting systems that must be considered by municipalities when deciding which system to
implement.
Choosing to Recycle
According to the waste hierarchy, source reduction and reuse are far more sustainable waste
management practices than recycling, but it can be extremely difficult to implement

The World Of The Classical Solar System
Last July, NASA s New Horizons spacecraft flew by Pluto, the last unvisited world of the classical
solar system. As the largest known member of the Kuiper belt, Pluto is also the gateway to a new
frontier, a scarcely studied collection of primordial icy bodies far from the sun that constitutes the
third zone of the solar system after the realms of the inner rocky planets and the outer gas giants.
Like most first glimpses of new frontiers, Pluto held so many surprises for New Horizons that the past
eight months have seen a steady stream of discoveries coming from the mission, as the spacecraft s
small radio transmitter beams its gathered data back home. The biggest surprises have been Pluto s
surface and atmosphere, which are restlessly active and diverse despite average temperatures of only
tens of degrees above absolute zero. Some scientists expected New Horizons would find Pluto to be
little more than an inert, sunlight starved orb. Instead, the spacecraft encountered a world where
nitrogen glaciers flow down into plains of frozen methane from towering mountains of water ice.
Sunless half frozen oceans lurk deep beneath the surface, and multiple moons tumble overhead
through hydrocarbon hazed red skies that tinge to blue at sunrise and sunset.
But beyond celebrating the visceral thrill of the Pluto flyby itself, or the intellectual frisson of gazing
on full color close ups of a place so alien and faraway, most of these discoveries from New Horizons
have so far found a

Artemis the daughter of Zeus and twin of Apollo begot of the Titaness Leto is a multi faceted deity of
the hunt, the moon, and wilderness. Moreover, her Roman cognate the goddess Diana presides over
the same roles as that of her Greek counterpart. In the Hindu pantheon, Dayana worshiped and
venerated by virgins alike, is a Sanskritisation of her Latin name. Not only but she was among the
prime deities in the (Greek) pantheon enthroned among one of the multi generational class of Hellenic

a river goddess of fertility, water, and even wisdom. Harahvati is the corrupted version of Sarasvati in
Persia, whose name was used for a river branching out from Mount Hara (almost like Meru Parvata in
nature) into the Vourakasa sea. We have another account by Isidore of Charax stating that Anahid or
Artemis had another temple dedicated to her located in ancient Kangavar. Nevertheless, Anahita is
alleged to have shared similarities with Aphrodite and Athena, both fellow Olympians bearing a
tremendous list of dissimilarities between one another. Aphrodite is the only female deity of the
Olympians to be a generation before Zeus! Not far from the Mesopotamian temples of Anahita at

Benzoic acid and 1,4 dichlorobenzene are extracted from an unknown sample of powder. Both
components are identified by comparing their experimental melting points to known literature values.
Discussion. Extraction is the transfer of a solute from one phase to another. Solubility depends on
polarity, and goes by the rule like dissolves like. Most organic molecules are more soluble in organic
solvents than in water. If the organic solvent is immiscible with water, then when the organic solvent
dissolves organic molecules this solution forms a layer separate from the water layer forming two
layers: an organic layer, and an aqueous layer. When the two layers are mixed together, small amounts
of components from each layer will dissolve in the other layer, establishing an equilibrium between
the two layers. In order to extract solute from solvent A to solvent B, several extractions with small
portions of the solvent B are more efficient than a single extraction with the total ... Show more

Since the unknown powder was known to contain both an organic compound and an acid, we had to
add aqueous sodium hydroxide in order to draw out the acid and its conjugate base into the aqueous
layer. When the base was added to the separatory funnel, it attracted the acid and formed an
immiscible aqueous layer under the liquid layer containing the organic compound. The funnel was
shaken to draw out as much acid as possible, and the aqueous layer was withdrawn from the funnel.
Aqueous sodium hydroxide was added a second time to pull out even more acid that may have
remained in the organic layer, and was withdrawn as well. In hopes of drawing out any remaining acid

The End to Slavery in the Caribbean Essay examples
The End to Slavery in the Caribbean
The Haitian Revolution (1791 1804) was the first successful slave revolt in the Caribbean, and it was
one of the most important events in the history of the Americas. Along with the obvious human rights
benefits that the Haitian
Revolution achieved, there were some serious setbacks for the nation as well.
Between 1783 and 1789, Saint Domingue was the foremost sugar producer in the region, but by the
end of the war the economy was completely destroyed, and to this day Haiti has not come anywhere
close to reattaining its once prominent economic status in the Caribbean. The results of the revolution

India and China became major players in this solution due to their size, populations, and lack of
democracy. The British acquired Trinidad and
Guiana in the 1790s, and then flooded them with east Asians when slavery ended. Some 150,000 east
Asians traveled to Trinidad to in the nineteenth century, and 250,000 went to work in the cane fields of
Guiana.
The Two Migrations of the 19th Century
In the nineteenth century, a hundred million people crossed the oceans seeking employment. Of these
hundred million, around half were Europeans
(especially Italians and Irish) heading to European settlements like Argentina,
Chile, US, and Canada. The other fifty million were neither coming from nor going to European
settlements (this half was mainly composed of Indians and
Chinese heading to Trinidad or Guiana).
In essence, there were two migrations going on during the nineteenth century. The Africans and Asians
who left their continents in search of labor mostly engaged in wage labor at rates that the Europeans
would not accept.
The Europeans, for the most part, were coming from countries with more efficient agriculture which
yielded higher returns and wages. Another factor which divided the migration in two was racism. The
Asians who ended up in
British Guiana, Trinidad, Dutch Guiana, or Jamaica did not head to these places due to preference.

Beautiful and sad. A narrative from a father to a son. Initially I thought it was tragic and heartbreaking.
It is a true story and a real reflection on the default of being human. If for loss of compassion for this
side of humanity, I would say in an objective and extremely distant point of view that it is pathetic.
It is good that I am reading it in my 20s, being a daughter, single and childless.
I truly get the father s anguish and grief. The poems express oscillating feelings that explore the
dimensions of extent of strong human emotion. At the same time I understand the son s rebelliousness
to a parent who insists that he (the father) listens yet strongly occurs as imposing. Unfortunately, the
love desperately being communicated does not go across. The story revolved in the father s thoughts,
dreams and memories without an actual dialogue: an attempt to truly listen and get his son.
The father s hopes to someday laugh at these poems with his son is a very real illusion that humans
live in by default. Hopes and wishes become so real a reality in the fantasy world of our minds that
who we become and act according to what is taking place is regrettably misaligned to the future that

Comparison Of The Respiratory System Between Mimus...
Topic A comparison of the respiratory system between Mimus Polyglottos and Orcinus Orca.
I. Introduction
While the Mimus Polyglottos lives on land and the Orcinus Orca lives in the sea, the respiratory
system of these two species is worth perceiving the way they have evolved from there past ancestors
and the similarities these two bring together. As time goes by, these two species have changed from
very modest animals to more progressive animals. There respiratory systems have advanced
depending on their environment. By proceeding into the way these two species have evolved we can
create a more unfathomable and complex understanding of the respiratory system between the two.

(Mortola, 2001). While an Orca breathes, the blow that looks like it s in the water is the water vapor
condensing in the respiratory gases as they enlarge in the cool air.
The Orca can hold its breath for a lengthier amount of time and exchange more lung air with each
breath in comparison to a person. (Hoelzel, 1998).
Water that is on top of the blowhole when the powerful exhale begins is forced up with the exhaled
respiratory gases.
The whale s lungs contain more alveoli and they are surrounded by two layers of capillaries increasing
surface area for better gas exchange (Likens, 1979).
Compared to humans a killer whale holds its breath for longer and exchanges more lung air with each
breath (Hoelzel, 1998).

The Polyglottos has a two cycle respiratory system in contrast to mammals who only have one.
Polyglottos have some control over the respiratory system that is essential to allow the creation of

The Polyglottos has four chambers in their heart.
Polyglottos are changed early to low oxygen conditions since the strategy of the respiratory and
circulatory system makes their oxygen uptake very resourceful.

Essay on The Pros and Cons of the Internet
The internet is a vast network of computers that connects many of the world s businesses, institutions,

John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth developed the Attachment Theory. According to Bowlby,
attachment is an innate behavior that children form with their primary caregivers in order to maximize

smiling, babbling, crying, and cooing encourages parents to take care of the infant and helps parents

of attachment that begin during infancy (Bowlby, 1969). The first phase is the Pre Attachment Phase

services tied into the business. The Vending Company s business is to be a food and drink vendor for
all of the BeanBalls baseball games. Kary along with the other employees played an integral part of
the Vending Company s business since they were the people actually selling the products at the game.
Kary personally provided the services to the Vending Company, there was no person hired by Kary as
a third party to do her job. The fact that Kary was paid by the hour and not by the game is indicative
of a continuing relationship between The Vending Company and Kary. George had set work hours for
his employees, since they could only work during the games plus the additional hour before that is
required to get all of the equipment and peanuts ready to sell. There was a specific procedure to how
the employees were supposed to go about their work for that day. The employees will first show up
and pick up their carrier. From that point, the employee will go and scoop/bag the peanuts they are
going to sell. At the end of the game there is a final tally of how many bags were sold, and whoever
sold the most would receive a 20 dollar bonus. The employees must wear uniforms, though they can
embellish it as they please, and they must wear black shoes. George

Relation Regress Argument Analysis
In this essay, I will explain and evaluate the relation regress argument against resemblance
nominalism, by arguing in favour of the relation regress argument. Firstly, I will define what
resemblance nominalism and the relation regress argument is. Then, I will look at the plausibility of
and concerns about Russell s relation regress argument, by comparing it to various counterexamples
which argue in favour of resemblance nominalism and are against the relation regress argument.
Finally, I will demonstrate why the relation regress argument seems more plausible than arguments in
favour of resemblance nominalism.
Resemblance nominalism is a type of nominalism which describes that some objects resemble each
other and others do not. The resemblance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Qualitative economy would be to restrict the kinds of objects to the least, while quantitative economy
is to restrict the number of objects in each kind to the least. It is quantitatively more economical to
admit to resemblance universals than to hypothesise a universal for each resemblance, according to D.
Nolan. So, only the relation of resemblance is accepted as a universal. This seems counter intuitive, to
accept the existence of universals only when it suits an argument and to decry its existence outside of
that. Therefore, it seems more plausible to admit to the existence of universals in general, not just as

When hard work is all you know, then success becomes inevitable.
Studying As levels and BTEC level 3 has definitely helped me gain a deep understanding of the

career choices I can pursue within the region of my interest. Since the age of 11 I started watching
documentaries on how the body physically and mentally works; from then on my mind became
stimulated with ideas and interests of learning and understanding sports and the science behind it. The
skills and understanding I gained in my spare time helped in advancing my level of knowledge. Being

What I found interesting about this was how the other students saw me as a role model and was able to
come to me for help asking me about sports and how to improve their fitness, whether it was
basketball, football or just training in the gym. I learnt how to inspire, because of what I was able to
achieve just by helping and mentoring others. Science and sports has always kept me engaged in my
educational life as well as my social life; playing basketball at a local community centre and taking
part in event such as football tournaments indoor and outdoor. The skills gained from these experience
has helped me in my own life such as taking charge, decision making, being organised and being able
to adapt to change in situations. Attending different sports tournaments helped me improve in different
areas of sports as well as dealing with different type of competitions and challenges. During my
secondary school education I formed a team and competed in an indoor football tournament against
other team within Birmingham. It was challenging but I kept the team together and we managed to
come second in the tournament, which then lead to us competing with other team across the country.
Many skills and experiences were gained during this time and also my attitude and behaviour towards

Aristotle s Views On Life
One of the philosophers I will choose to analyze will be Aristotle. Aristotle believes that people should
always participate in the city state, and only by being the citizen can a person lead and pursue a life of
good quality because he believed that that was the main focus and reason of human life. Although he
was a great philosopher, one of the ideas that I chose to discuss was that he believed slaves were
necessary to the functionality of a good and working society, and that man is only fully rational if he
participates in the city. This would mean that even as a slave, you should be the best slave you could
be because you are helping the city thrive however you are in the lowest level. Aristotle believes that
men should be in power, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe that Aristotle wanted to be seen and recognized for his works in everyday life. He wants
people to do the best they can in what they do so they can receive merit for it. You can only be truly
happy if you are involved in a life that is fully lived mature and refreshing. I feel like participating in
the city state is your own choice.
Aristotle identified three types of relationships that rule a household: Master slave, parent child, and
husband wife. The husband wife represented reproduction, the parent child represented education, and
the master slave represented self preservation. Aristotle defends slavery with this concept by basically
saying that for one option, there is an opposite option: If there is a male, there is a female. He says that
nature is made up of things that need to have rule over them, and rulers. He states that some people, by
nature, are slaves and some people are masters. He also tries to argue this by saying that slavery is
natural because the pattern is found in other aspects hence, husband/wife, rational/irrational,
parent/child, etc. He feels that it is unjust to enslave through means of war because those people are
not natural slaves. Aristotle believes that if it is natural for a king to rule over his people, then a master
should rule over his slave because the slave helps increase the master s livelihood. The same idea

Adolf Hitler s Propaganda
To continue, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party had several methods of convincing and portraying
specific groups of people as these horrible, and gruesome people. One of the most easy and very eye
appealing forms of methods for convincing people is propaganda. As in the book by Steven Luckert
and Susan Bachrach, State of Deception: The Power of Nazi Propaganda, they make it clear that the
propaganda being used at the time really did affect the way people saw everything in society.
Propaganda was used for four major concepts. For example, propaganda was used for votes and

Adolf Hitler had a huge influence on perfecting Germany. It all started of course with his hatred
towards the Jews. He strongly believed in Aryan racial supremacy. Adolf Hitler while spending time in
prison wrote a book called Mein Kampf , and this book was filled with all of Hitler s own person
thoughts, and experiences. It even states in the book how his hate for Jews gradually started getting
more, and more greater throughout time. His views came to be with the help of a pamphlet he bought
for only a short pennies. His first anti Semitism revelation was when he had actually started noticing
the large number of Jews. For instance, Adolf Hitler describes in his autobiography through his own
observations, which he made while in Vienna, In a short time I was made more thoughtful than ever
by slowly rising insight into the type of activity carried on by the Jews in certain fields... Sometimes I
stood thunderstruck. I didn t know what to be more amazed at: the agility of their tongues or their

Literary Techniques Used In The Movie Oblivion
When a movie only contains a plot some stock soundtracks emphasizing certain moments in a movie,
then it s only just as good as the other movies within the same genre because the soundtracks prove
there was very little the makers could do to emphasize how the movie was different and much more
exciting since it did not follow a cliché from similar movies. The movie Oblivion does just this: It
provides a unique plot that differs from most other sci fi movies and is accompanied occasionally by
segments of the main soundtrack, also named Oblivion. The soundtrack could be the base of an entire
short film if the creators wanted to do just only that. It is entirely possible because of the nature of the
song and the fact that it goes through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of the devices they used to influence the emphasis the song makes is the rhyme scheme
AAAA used in order to give a smooth transition to every line in the song. This gives the feeling of a
smooth transition into different chapters in the movie instead of having an alternating rhyme scheme
that would rather make the song feel unconnected and as if the song misses key points before
describing the next chapter. Another example is the heavy use of symbolism throughout the song. In
the beginning, the dying swan is a reference to an inevitable fate that the female sees coming for her
relationship. In the second version, the lyrics imply that the male character is better off without her by
contrasting the word light to mean the male and darkness to represent the female. There is also a
heavy use of repetition to highlight parts of movie where the emotions of the female are at the highest
point such as by using the words goodbye, falling, and calling to convey how heartbroken the female
feels. Based off all literary qualities the lyrics possess; the lyrics could even interchangeably become a

If you use probiotics on a daily basis you ll benefit greatly; probiotics are used both to prevent health
problems and to treat disease. The most common probiotic bacteria strains seem to work well with
most people, no matter if you enjoy normal health or if you suffer from poor health. But one thing is
clear: The unhealthier your lifestyle is, the more you need probiotics. It s important to remember that
each person carries a unique gut microflora. It s like a unique fingerprint belonging only to one
person. This microflora needs to be kept in a delicate balance to work well. If you eat junk food,
processed foods, drink soda, or experience stress and tension daily, you can be sure it will affect your
gut it can easily get out of balance. The condition of your gut and intestine will affect the level of
health you enjoy. The specific makeup of the microflora in your gut and intestine is determined by
your genes, your eating and drinking habits, and other factors. Most studies made on probiotics show
that probiotics acts to balance your gut and combat the bad effects of modern, stressful living. And
probiotics does this without side effects. Probiotics has proven effective to prevent and treat diarrhea

Deep Sea Vents Essay
Furthermore, the deep sea vent hypothesis aims to explain the origin of life on Earth. (i fixed bc awk)
Deep undersea vents are often hosts to rich microbial communities. In Hydrothermal vents and the
origin of life, William Martin, John Baross, Deborah Kelley, and Michael J. Russel (2008, p.805) note,
the presence of H2 and CO2 near hydrothermal vent systems and surrounding prokaryotic autotrophs
may hold clues for the chemistry of the origin of life. The environment of hydrothermal vents are
reminiscent of an early Earth with 360o Celsius sulphide chimneys, a mixture of reactive gases and
dissolved elements, along with both thermal and chemical gradients (Martin et al., 2008, p.805). The

There are two types of deep sea vents: a new classification discovered with carbonate chimneys, later
dubbed the Lost City Hydrothermal Field (LCHF) and black smokers (Martin et al., 2008, p.805). The
LCHF s atmosphere revealed a lava composition similar to eruptions within primordial Earth oceans.
During the Hadean Era...(explain how oceans were then)*. The LCHF is off axis, meaning when the

exposed to heat from the mantle and possibly other chemical reactions take place (Martin et al., 2008,
p.806). These chemical reactions result in high magnesium and iron deposits around the LCHF,
creating a high alkaline level (pH 9 11) (Martin et al., 2008, p.806). Cascaded from the LCHF vents is

Reaction Rate Of Reaction
Background: A clock reaction generally involves a mixture of solutions that, after a certain amount of
time, displays a sudden colour change. This process demonstrates chemical kinetics in action, which is
the study of chemical processes and rates of reaction where the reaction rate is the speed at which the
chemical reaction proceeds. It is dependent on several factors that rely on one basic underlying
principle called collision theory. In order for a reaction to occur, the reactant molecules must collide
with each other with a certain minimum energy called the activation energy to break and form the
appropriate bonds as well as have the correct orientation when colliding. If the favourable amount of
collisions increase, then the rate of the reaction would increase. However, if the reactant particles do
not collide frequently or collide with less energy than the activation energy, they bounce apart and the
reaction would then proceed slowly or not at all. Concentration is one of the factors that affects
reaction rate. Raising the concentration of the reactants, alters the number of particles per unit volume.
Thus the more molecules present in a given volume, the greater the probability of them colliding. If
they have energies equal to or greater than the activation energy, a higher concentration would
therefore result in an increase in the reaction rate. The opposite is true if there is a lower concentration
of reactant molecules.
The relationship between rate and

Examples Of Byronic Hero In Jane Eyre
Byronic Heros were first introduced in Lord Byron s writing and have since then been utilized in
many different writings. In the novel Jane Eyre (1847), Charlotte Bronte creates a character that
symbolizes a Byronic Hero. Nevertheless, Mr. Rochester is considered a Byronic Hero due to certain
characteristics he has, however, this is only to an extent, as he lacks some qualities of a Byronic Hero.
He is central to the theme of Jane Eyre because he, like many others in in the novel, are searching for
a place to belong and find self identity.
Throughout the novel, it is asserted that Mr. Rochester owns the characteristics of Isolation/Wander
and Rejects Social Norms that a Byronic Hero holds. Mr. Rochester is isolated from society and exiled
by the upper class but only partially, due to his large sum of wealth. Although Rochester did not exile
himself by choice, he is considered peculiar by the other prosperous townsfolk for rejecting social
norms which causes him to be isolated. Bronte states this cause and effect chain through one of her
quotes in the novel, Come Jane come ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

everyone to isolate him and cause him to wander, leaving him moody and temperamental which also

Two of the most common skin infections are staph infection and ringworm. Skin infections account
for about 14.4% of all adverse events during wrestling. Staph infection can result in boils, painful
rashes, sores, and blisters. Staph infection can sometimes result in sepsis, this infection is caused when
the staph infection invades your bloodstream, sepsis can lead to sepsis shock which is a life

with a red ring around the outside, inside the ring may be clear, scaly or marked with a scattering of
red bumps. Ringworm is transmitted usually through skin to skin contact with someone with the

soil to human contact. Skin infections are a major concern in the wrestling community, as of right now

Farmers are facing a decreasing income, in 2003 farmers had a yearly income of 123.8 billion but in
2016 their income has been reduced to 71.5 billion (Rooney Income Inequality Hurts Economic
Growth ). The declining incomes of farmers has lead to farmers spending less on seeds, fertilizers and
pesticides, which in turn hurts the sales of these large companies. Companies like Monsanto, look at
the mergers as a way to staunch the bleeding from their lost profits, boost their market shares/growth,
and try to smother any new competition (Plumer). This merger will allow the wealth inequality to
grow because the richest 20% are receiving 25 30 times as much income as the bottom 20% (Sackery,
175). Monsanto and Bayer will keep the profits that they make from what the farmers buy, not
inventing it back into the economy to help reduce this cyclic process of growing wealth inequality.
This trend of a growing wealth gap is leading to the end of the American dream; people are unable to
move up the economic ladder. The richest one percent now controls more than half of the world s
wealth and this is ultimately undermining global economic growth. Much of the labor force cannot

2-Methylbutane Lab Report
For this experiment, nucleophilic substitution was first observed. The 2 methyl 2 butanol was
converted into 2 chloro 2 methylbutane by using an SN1 reaction. The alcohol on the 2 methyl 2
butanol was a tertiary alcohol. To form a good leaving group since the hydroxide ion is a bad leaving
group, the tertiary alcohol was protonated with HCl, but since it consists of a fully substituted carbon
atom from the carbon oxygen bond, an SN2 displacement cannot occur. Therefore, water is the leaving
group that disassociates and leaves a relatively stable tertiary carbocation behind. From HCl, the

The ring stand was used to make sure that the separatory funnel did not tip over and break. Then 2
methyl 2 butanol was added to the funnel along with concentrated HCl. These two chemicals were
swirled together to combine them. A glass stopper was placed on the top of the separatory funnel. It
was then inverted and vented immediately. Then the stopcock was closed, and the separatory funnel
was vigorously shaken for twenty seconds and then vented. This process was repeated. The separatory
funnel was vented frequently due to hydrochloric acid having a high vapor pressure which causes
there to be a pressurized system. This is dangerous because the buildup of pressure can cause the glass
to break and HCl to get everywhere. HCl is a very strong acid which is extremely dangerous upon
contact. After this, the separatory funnel was placed back into the ring stand, the glass stopper was
removed, and the bottom aqueous layer that separated was drained into an Erlenmeyer flask. The
separatory funnel was placed such that the bottom was resting on the top of the receiving flask to
avoid spills. Then sodium bicarbonate was slowly added, and some gas was produced. The funnel was
swirled until the bubbling ceased and the glass stopper was put on. The same process from before with
inverting and venting was repeated. After this, the separatory funnel was placed back into the ring
stand, the glass stopper was removed, and the bottom aqueous layer was drained into the same
Erlenmeyer flask as before. Some bubbling occurred when combining, so it was drained slowly. These

performed with distilled water. The organic layer was drained into a clean Erlenmeyer flask and four
spatulas of anhydrous sodium sulfate were added to the solution. The solution was swirled for about

Greek and Roman Concepts of Citizenship and Government The definition of citizenship in Greek and
Roman cultures can be described much differently than the current democratic definition of
contemporary nations. The Roman Empire differed from the Athenian Amphictyony and the Assyrian
Empire as well as the sunder later emperors such as Vespasian. There were also structural problems
within the government of the Roman Empire. This paper will explore the models of government and

politicians in power. Each citizen was responsible for electing representatives that would rule on their
behalf. The citizens were the focus of the Roman Republic. The status of a citizen evolved
dramatically throughout the Roman Republic. All males over 15 that were true descendants of the
original tribe became citizens ( Ancient Civilizations , 2014). Full citizens of Rome had many
privileges such as voting, practicing commerce, holding public office, and marrying freeborn citizens
to name a few. Some citizens that were not considered full citizens maintained some rights, but could
not vote or hold office. A third type of citizen could not hold office or marry free born women but
could practice commerce and vote. Citizens rights would change throughout the Roman republic, but
the republic aspect did not change. An important aspect of the Roman Government was the Senate.
The Senate was first set up as a group of 100, then later the Roman Kings expanded the group to 300 (
Ancient Civilizations , 2014). The senate convened and passed laws and practiced skills that would
help to persuade ruling bodies. The Roman Empire was in a location that benefited the empire s
defense against enemies. The location of the Roman Empire in the Mediterranean

With the wide selection that Sky offer its customers it is a perfect product for a family to enjoy, young
children, teenagers, young adults and parents can all benefit from Sky s programming.
The price of the subscription and the additional services Sky offer, would suggest it is aimed at middle
class families with the latest television and mobile device (iPad, tablet and smartphones). The price
could also discourage anyone under 30, with this market using their disposable income on
entertainment outside of their home, they re unlikely to become a Sky customer when they aren t
benefiting from their subscription.
Brand Attributes
When customers are comparing Sky to its competitors they must compare specific attributes that they
find most important when selecting a pay TV service. Consumers will attach more value to some
attributes than to others, some consumers will find packaging of a good important, while others will
focus more on the price, or maybe on the brand name (Riezebos. R, 2003).
Sky s main attributes focus around their television service, the price, availability and amount offered
to the customer is far greater than its competitors. However if the television package is not an attribute
the customer has prioritised Sky are only slightly better on price compared to BT and neither can
compare to Virgins broadband package. This is an attribute that Sky must improve, their

Student Reflective Report
Before I participated in the practical application service I was very nervous and worried that I would
no do well. Although I was nervous I knew if I was going to make mistakes that this was the time and
place to make them because it would allow me time to work on and improve my skills. This was a
great experience and it gave me a better idea of what being a counsellor will be like. Learning about
the eight skills that Young (2017) outlines was great, but putting them into practice and determining
whether or not I fully grasp and understand how to use these skills was most helpful. The group I
worked with also added to this learning experience as they were very supportive and informative
about my strengths which helped me to identify my weaknesses and which skills need more work.
Insights
The most important insights I gained during this session was realizing that while it is imperative to
listen to what the client is saying and to maintain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The specific goal or what I want to improve on, as I mentioned earlier, is my ability to distinguish
between a reflection of affection and a paraphrase during a session. I would also like to become more
aware of what I am saying to the client as to not have to backtrack and waste valuable time that can be
used for listening and information gathering. In terms of a time limited goal I want to improve upon
these as well as the other six skills before the next session (two weeks). These goals are relevant
because I want to become a counsellor and doing so is very important to me. I know that through hard
work and perseverance I can accomplish these goals and achieve my dream of becoming a counsellor.
Having the support of my professor and classmates makes this learning experience and journey much
more meaningful as I know there are others I can turn to for guidance when I feel

South Dakota V. Dole s Four Rules
Since its founding, the United States Supreme Court has misconstrued the Constitution on countless
occasions. More acutely, however, the Court has failed to respect the Tenth Amendment time and time
again. Ratified in December of 1791, the Amendment says, The powers not delegated to the United
States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or
to the people. The Court proved its lack of respect and recognition to Amendment X when it ruled
South Dakota v. Dole in 1987. In 1984, Congress amended the Federal Aid Highway Act, adding a
conditional clause that would require Secretary of Transportation, then Elizabeth Dole, to withhold
10% of a state s federal highway funds if the state refused to increase the minim legal drinking age to
21. This was called the National Minimum Drinking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first, he said, was that the conditional clause must be for the pursuit of general welfare. However,
he deferred to Congress to determine what constitutes general welfare. The second aspect was that
Congress provide unambiguous procedure to states and allow states to have a choice in the matter.
Because Congress had provided clear procedural notifications to states and states had a choice
between accepting the condition and getting full federal funding or rejecting Congress request and
receiving decreased funding, the condition put forth by Congress is permissible. The third facet was
that the conditions must be related to a federal interest, in particular national projects or programs.
This, Rehnquist said, was evidently related to the national commitment to have safe interstate travel.
Lastly, the condition itself must not be unconstitutional. That is, Congress cannot put forth a condition
that, for instance, demands that states discriminate against a certain sex or

International A Membership Based Consumer Service
CENDANT
On December 17th 1997 CUC International a membership based consumer service company focused
on giving people access to discounts on travel, shopping, etc. and HFC Incorporated a large hotel
franchiser merged together and became Cendant. CUC International lead by Walter Forbes
deliberately and fictitiously made the company more than $500 million fictional revenue, which in
effect led to one of the biggest fraud cases of the 1990 s. This is a very interesting fraud case and one
that forced the accounting and auditing standard setters to review some of their standards, which is
something I ll talk about more later on.
The fraud was very simple at its base; the idea was to allow the employees of CUC International and
later Cendant to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could have been prevented or stopped if the revenue and expenses had been accounted for and
recorded properly in the period they had occurred. It also could have been prevented had the internal
auditing comity done their job and realized what was happening around them and brought this to the
board of director s attention.
What was going on internally at CUC International and later at Cendant was known to many
employees, these people held different positions from managers all the way up to the CEO Walter
Forbes and it was in fact two managers that came forward and brought all of this out to the open and
their names were Casper Sabatino and Steven Speaks. They contacted the CFO of Cendant
Mr.Monaco and explained to him the breathtaking fraud. And it was Mr.Monaco who delivered this
news to Cendant s Chief Executive Henry R. Silverman. Those two men were the whistleblowers that
brought Cendant to its knees. As mentioned in the sworn affidavits the managers explained what was
happening at Cendant, they said that they were told to record millions of dollars of orders that never
occurred and were told to do what was necessary in order to increase the income on the books and
decrease the expanses. In their statements they named two people whom have been responsible for
putting pressure on their employees and ordering the accounting irregularities, these two people were

  • 3. Analysis Of Beuys s The Pursuit Of A Social Art Beuys work revolved around an interaction with his audience in the pursuit of a social art. Beuys defined social sculpture as how we mould and shape the world in which we live. This is not too dissimilar from Lefebvre nations of social space. It is within this context which he makes his famous claim, everyone is an artist. Here he envisioned an art form, in which society could be regarded as one great work of art, (an interpretation of the Wagnerian Gesamtkunstwerk) to which each person can contribute creatively. He viewed the art he made as being a stimulant for the transformation of the idea of sculpture. They should provoke thoughts about what sculpture can be and how the concept of sculpting can be extended to the invisible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was during the 1960s that Beuys theoretical thought about the social, cultural and political function of art manifested in to a physical work. Perhaps one of his most seminal works, 7000 oaks, exemplified his belief that art could take on a form which was defined as both interdisciplinary and participatory. Beuys placed a pile of stones in the town Kassel, Germany. From above one could see that this pile of stones created an arrow, which pointed toward a single oak tree. He stated that the stones should not be moved unless an oak tree was planted in the new location of the stone, over the course of several years 7,000 oak trees were then planted by people of the town. R This notion of a social, participatory art form can also be seen in the writing of Nicolas Bourriaud, who wrote why wouldn t the meaning of a work have as much to do with the use one makes of it as with the artists intentions for it. With both social sculpture and architecture, as with physical architecture, a dialogue exists between use and structure. To a certain degree structure determines use and yet use also effects structure. Use is both constructive and destructive, it manipulates and transforms object to its needs. Contemplation the way in which art would traditionally be experienced, is neither constructive or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Environmental And Societal Impact Of Waste Management... Introduction Emerging understanding of the environmental and societal impact of waste management has led to a significant development of municipally lead practices under the model of sustainable resource management (Cimpan, 2015). Recycling the recovery of the material value in waste provides opportunities for both economic and environmental sustainability by reducing fuels usage, carbon dioxide emissions, and the quantity of waste sent to landfills. The United States Environmental Protection Agency has identified that one year of recycled material translates to a reduction of 186 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, and 40% of the material waste that annually ends up in US landfills are products that could have been recycled (Trudel). Decreasing landfill space and increasing urban waste generation require the implementation of both an effective and efficient recycling system, as recycling is a costly waste management strategy for municipalities (Lakhan, 2015). Single stream sorting and dual stream sorting programs are popular policy responses to municipal managing of recyclables. There are several context specific factors that impact the efficiency and effectiveness of both sorting systems that must be considered by municipalities when deciding which system to implement. Choosing to Recycle According to the waste hierarchy, source reduction and reuse are far more sustainable waste management practices than recycling, but it can be extremely difficult to implement ... • 6. The World Of The Classical Solar System Last July, NASA s New Horizons spacecraft flew by Pluto, the last unvisited world of the classical solar system. As the largest known member of the Kuiper belt, Pluto is also the gateway to a new frontier, a scarcely studied collection of primordial icy bodies far from the sun that constitutes the third zone of the solar system after the realms of the inner rocky planets and the outer gas giants. Like most first glimpses of new frontiers, Pluto held so many surprises for New Horizons that the past eight months have seen a steady stream of discoveries coming from the mission, as the spacecraft s small radio transmitter beams its gathered data back home. The biggest surprises have been Pluto s surface and atmosphere, which are restlessly active and diverse despite average temperatures of only tens of degrees above absolute zero. Some scientists expected New Horizons would find Pluto to be little more than an inert, sunlight starved orb. Instead, the spacecraft encountered a world where nitrogen glaciers flow down into plains of frozen methane from towering mountains of water ice. Sunless half frozen oceans lurk deep beneath the surface, and multiple moons tumble overhead through hydrocarbon hazed red skies that tinge to blue at sunrise and sunset. But beyond celebrating the visceral thrill of the Pluto flyby itself, or the intellectual frisson of gazing on full color close ups of a place so alien and faraway, most of these discoveries from New Horizons have so far found a ... We have another account by Isidore of Charax stating that Anahid or Artemis had another temple dedicated to her located in ancient Kangavar. Nevertheless, Anahita is alleged to have shared similarities with Aphrodite and Athena, both fellow Olympians bearing a tremendous list of dissimilarities between one another. Both components are identified by comparing their experimental melting points to known literature values. Discussion. Extraction is the transfer of a solute from one phase to another. Solubility depends on polarity, and goes by the rule like dissolves like. Most organic molecules are more soluble in organic solvents than in water. If the organic solvent is immiscible with water, then when the organic solvent dissolves organic molecules this solution forms a layer separate from the water layer forming two layers: an organic layer, and an aqueous layer. When the two layers are mixed together, small amounts of components from each layer will dissolve in the other layer, establishing an equilibrium between the two layers. Between 1783 and 1789, Saint Domingue was the foremost sugar producer in the region, but by the end of the war the economy was completely destroyed, and to this day Haiti has not come anywhere close to reattaining its once prominent economic status in the Caribbean. The Two Migrations of the 19th Century In the nineteenth century, a hundred million people crossed the oceans seeking employment. Of these hundred million, around half were Europeans (especially Italians and Irish) heading to European settlements like Argentina, Chile, US, and Canada. The other fifty million were neither coming from nor going to European settlements (this half was mainly composed of Indians and Chinese heading to Trinidad or Guiana). In essence, there were two migrations going on during the nineteenth century. The Africans and Asians who left their continents in search of labor mostly engaged in wage labor at rates that the Europeans would not accept. The Europeans, for the most part, were coming from countries with more efficient agriculture which yielded higher returns and wages. Another factor which divided the migration in two was racism. The poems express oscillating feelings that explore the dimensions of extent of strong human emotion. At the same time I understand the son s rebelliousness to a parent who insists that he (the father) listens yet strongly occurs as imposing. Introduction While the Mimus Polyglottos lives on land and the Orcinus Orca lives in the sea, the respiratory system of these two species is worth perceiving the way they have evolved from there past ancestors and the similarities these two bring together. As time goes by, these two species have changed from very modest animals to more progressive animals. There respiratory systems have advanced depending on their environment. While an Orca breathes, the blow that looks like it s in the water is the water vapor condensing in the respiratory gases as they enlarge in the cool air. The Orca can hold its breath for a lengthier amount of time and exchange more lung air with each breath in comparison to a person. (Hoelzel, 1998). Water that is on top of the blowhole when the powerful exhale begins is forced up with the exhaled respiratory gases. The whale s lungs contain more alveoli and they are surrounded by two layers of capillaries increasing surface area for better gas exchange (Likens, 1979). Compared to humans a killer whale holds its breath for longer and exchanges more lung air with each breath (Hoelzel, 1998). V. Mimus Polyglottos respiratory system: The Polyglottos has a two cycle respiratory system in contrast to mammals who only have one. Polyglottos have some control over the respiratory system that is essential to allow the creation of muddled sounds (Goller, 2010). The Polyglottos has four chambers in their heart. Polyglottos are changed early to low oxygen conditions since the strategy of the respiratory and circulatory system makes their oxygen uptake very resourceful. Aristotle believes that people should always participate in the city state, and only by being the citizen can a person lead and pursue a life of good quality because he believed that that was the main focus and reason of human life. Although he was a great philosopher, one of the ideas that I chose to discuss was that he believed slaves were necessary to the functionality of a good and working society, and that man is only fully rational if he participates in the city. He wants people to do the best they can in what they do so they can receive merit for it. You can only be truly happy if you are involved in a life that is fully lived mature and refreshing. I feel like participating in the city state is your own choice. Aristotle identified three types of relationships that rule a household: Master slave, parent child, and husband wife. The husband wife represented reproduction, the parent child represented education, and the master slave represented self preservation. Aristotle defends slavery with this concept by basically saying that for one option, there is an opposite option: If there is a male, there is a female. He says that nature is made up of things that need to have rule over them, and rulers. He states that some people, by nature, are slaves and some people are masters. He also tries to argue this by saying that slavery is natural because the pattern is found in other aspects hence, husband/wife, rational/irrational, parent/child, etc. He feels that it is unjust to enslave through means of war because those people are not natural slaves. Aristotle believes that if it is natural for a king to rule over his people, then a master should rule over his slave because the slave helps increase the master s livelihood. The same idea ... • 33. Reaction Rate Of Reaction Background: A clock reaction generally involves a mixture of solutions that, after a certain amount of time, displays a sudden colour change. This process demonstrates chemical kinetics in action, which is the study of chemical processes and rates of reaction where the reaction rate is the speed at which the chemical reaction proceeds. It is dependent on several factors that rely on one basic underlying principle called collision theory. In order for a reaction to occur, the reactant molecules must collide with each other with a certain minimum energy called the activation energy to break and form the appropriate bonds as well as have the correct orientation when colliding. If the favourable amount of collisions increase, then the rate of the reaction would increase. However, if the reactant particles do not collide frequently or collide with less energy than the activation energy, they bounce apart and the reaction would then proceed slowly or not at all. Concentration is one of the factors that affects reaction rate. Raising the concentration of the reactants, alters the number of particles per unit volume. Thus the more molecules present in a given volume, the greater the probability of them colliding. If they have energies equal to or greater than the activation energy, a higher concentration would therefore result in an increase in the reaction rate. The opposite is true if there is a lower concentration of reactant molecules. The relationship between rate and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two of the most common skin infections are staph infection and ringworm. Skin infections account for about 14.4% of all adverse events during wrestling. Staph infection can result in boils, painful rashes, sores, and blisters. Staph infection can sometimes result in sepsis, this infection is caused when the staph infection invades your bloodstream, sepsis can lead to sepsis shock which is a life threatening episode with low blood pressure. Ringworm results in a patch of itchy and infected skin with a red ring around the outside, inside the ring may be clear, scaly or marked with a scattering of red bumps. Ringworm is transmitted usually through skin to skin contact with someone with the infection, but it can also be transmitted through animal to human, object to human, and in rare cases soil to human contact. Skin infections are a major concern in the wrestling community, as of right now though there are no rules or regulations that force wrestling officials or coaches to wash the wrestling mats which can carry many skin infections including staph and ringworm. If there was a rule or regulation that forced wrestling officials to wash wrestling mats before and after practices and matches the number of skin infections would decrease. When the mats are washed they should not be washed just with soap and water but with a distinct solution that is antibacterial and that included certain ingredients ... Monsanto Social Responsibility In the past few years farmers have overproduced and had to slash prices on their crops, due to the lower prices, farmers have reduced their spending on seeds thus impacting the sales in agribusiness (Pickler, et al. Bayer Deal for Monsanto Follows Agribusiness Trend, Raising Worries for Farmers ). Recently, Monsanto, an agribusiness giant specializing in genetically modified seeds resistant to pesticides, has agreed to sell its company to the German chemical business Bayer (Pickler). Farmers are facing a decreasing income, in 2003 farmers had a yearly income of 123.8 billion but in 2016 their income has been reduced to 71.5 billion (Rooney Income Inequality Hurts Economic Growth ). The declining incomes of farmers has lead to farmers spending less on seeds, fertilizers and pesticides, which in turn hurts the sales of these large companies. Companies like Monsanto, look at the mergers as a way to staunch the bleeding from their lost profits, boost their market shares/growth, and try to smother any new competition (Plumer). This merger will allow the wealth inequality to grow because the richest 20% are receiving 25 30 times as much income as the bottom 20% (Sackery, 175). Monsanto and Bayer will keep the profits that they make from what the farmers buy, not inventing it back into the economy to help reduce this cyclic process of growing wealth inequality. This trend of a growing wealth gap is leading to the end of the American dream; people are unable to move up the economic ladder. The richest one percent now controls more than half of the world s wealth and this is ultimately undermining global economic growth. • 37. 2-Methylbutane Lab Report For this experiment, nucleophilic substitution was first observed. The 2 methyl 2 butanol was converted into 2 chloro 2 methylbutane by using an SN1 reaction. The alcohol on the 2 methyl 2 butanol was a tertiary alcohol. To form a good leaving group since the hydroxide ion is a bad leaving group, the tertiary alcohol was protonated with HCl, but since it consists of a fully substituted carbon atom from the carbon oxygen bond, an SN2 displacement cannot occur. Therefore, water is the leaving group that disassociates and leaves a relatively stable tertiary carbocation behind. From HCl, the chloride anion is a good nucleophile, and this adds to the available carbocation forming a carbon chlorine bond and thus 2 chloro 2 methylbutane is the resulting ... Then 2 methyl 2 butanol was added to the funnel along with concentrated HCl. These two chemicals were swirled together to combine them. A glass stopper was placed on the top of the separatory funnel. It was then inverted and vented immediately. Then the stopcock was closed, and the separatory funnel was vigorously shaken for twenty seconds and then vented. This process was repeated. The separatory funnel was vented frequently due to hydrochloric acid having a high vapor pressure which causes there to be a pressurized system. This is dangerous because the buildup of pressure can cause the glass to break and HCl to get everywhere. HCl is a very strong acid which is extremely dangerous upon contact. After this, the separatory funnel was placed back into the ring stand, the glass stopper was removed, and the bottom aqueous layer that separated was drained into an Erlenmeyer flask. The separatory funnel was placed such that the bottom was resting on the top of the receiving flask to avoid spills. Then sodium bicarbonate was slowly added, and some gas was produced. The funnel was swirled until the bubbling ceased and the glass stopper was put on. The same process from before with inverting and venting was repeated. After this, the separatory funnel was placed back into the ring stand, the glass stopper was removed, and the bottom aqueous layer was drained into the same Erlenmeyer flask as before. Some bubbling occurred when combining, so it was drained slowly. These extracts were waste. A second wash was performed with sodium chloride solution and the third was performed with distilled water. The organic layer was drained into a clean Erlenmeyer flask and four spatulas of anhydrous sodium sulfate were added to the solution. The solution was swirled for about fifteen seconds. ... A republic is a type of government that expects an active role from every citizen, not just the politicians in power. The status of a citizen evolved dramatically throughout the Roman Republic. All males over 15 that were true descendants of the original tribe became citizens ( Ancient Civilizations , 2014). Full citizens of Rome had many privileges such as voting, practicing commerce, holding public office, and marrying freeborn citizens to name a few. Some citizens that were not considered full citizens maintained some rights, but could not vote or hold office. More acutely, however, the Court has failed to respect the Tenth Amendment time and time again. Ratified in December of 1791, the Amendment says, The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. The Court proved its lack of respect and recognition to Amendment X when it ruled South Dakota v. Dole in 1987. In 1984, Congress amended the Federal Aid Highway Act, adding a conditional clause that would require Secretary of Transportation, then Elizabeth Dole, to withhold 10% of a state s federal highway funds if the state refused to increase the minim legal drinking age to 21. Because Congress had provided clear procedural notifications to states and states had a choice between accepting the condition and getting full federal funding or rejecting Congress request and receiving decreased funding, the condition put forth by Congress is permissible. The third facet was that the conditions must be related to a federal interest, in particular national projects or programs.
