President Trump Lifting The Sanctions Case Study
The big news last week was when President Trump lifted the sanctions on a Chinese business
enterprise, ZTE. The story begins with, Trump s own Commerce Department banning shipments of
American technology to ZTE for seven years. Why? Because ZTE violated American s sanction s
against countries banned by the United States, included Iran and North Korea. President Trumps own
administration has said, ZTE was threatening national security by doing so. Another irony President
Trump has long claimed that China is raping us through unfair trade practices, stealing trade secrets
and stealing American jobs. So why did he lift the sanctions? President Trump said that he will help
save ZTE, a Chinese electronics maker, by lifting the sanctions

Ethical Issues In The Goodfellas
The Goodfellas movie is a movie about the life of a gangster growing up in the New York Mafia. A
young man name Henry, ever since he was a young boy always wanted to be in the Mafia. Henry grew

The people around and in the Mafia are part of a subculture where there are certain people who are
considered criminals and can protect anyone that can t or is not allowed to go to the cops to snitch.
The Mafia is based on grounds that any member suffering injustice was forced to take personal
vengeance while having no contact with the police. And now a days the American Mafia gangs had its
own territory to run and any people from other gangs or anyone outside of the territory would be
killed if they messed with the family. Many of the mores or norms of the Mafia were seen throughout

Analysis Of Romantic Music By Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
What is the Romantic music period? The Romantic music is the period of Western Classical music
that began in the late 18th to early 19th century. It is related to Romanticism, the European literary and
artistic movement that came to be in the second half of the 18th century. The Romantic music in

Composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was born May 7, 1840, in Vyatka, Russia, he died November 6,
1893, Saint Petersburg, Russia. Tchaikovsky is considered one of the most popular Russian composer
even to this day. His collective body of works consisted of 169 pieces, including symphonies, ballets,
concertos, operas, cantatas and various songs. Among his most famed works are the well know ballets
The Sleeping Beauty (1890) and The Nutcracker (1892). Struggling with social pressures to hide his
homosexuality, in 1877, Tchaikovsky married a young music student mashed Antonina Milyukova.
The marriage was a catastrophe disaster. Tchaikovsky abandoned his new wife within weeks of the
wedding. During a nervous breakdown, he unsuccessfully attempted to commit suicide, and eventually

Essay about The Rocking Horse vs Lottery
Professor
ENGL 102 B54 LUO
3 February 2014 The Lottery vs. The Rocking Horse Winner
In The Rocking Horse Winner, by D. H. Lawrence, and The Lottery, by Shirley Jackson, the two
authors illustrate symbols and themes throughout their stories in which one common idea is present:
perhaps winning is not always positive. The Rocking Horse Winner, by D.H. Lawrence is a fictional
story about a woman s obsession for money and the lack of love and affection she shows to her family.
Her son Paul hopes to change his mother s mind set in order to gain her love by becoming lucky. Paul
discovers a way to become lucky from a rocking horse that he receives as a Christmas present. He
perceives that this horse has magical powers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hester tells Paul that luck is what causes you to have money. If you re lucky you have money. That s
why it s better to be born lucky than rich. If you re rich you may lose money. But if you re lucky, you
will always have money. (236) This pushes Paul to desperately seek out luck so that his mother will be
grateful for her life and provide her family with the love and affection that they so rightfully deserve.
Paul believes his rocking horse is full of magical powers, which will help him achieve the luck he
needs to gain his mother s love. While Paul rides his rocking horse, the horse predicts the winning
horse and ends up making Paul an appalling amount of money. Paul gives his winnings to his mother
who squanders it on unnecessary materialistic things. He realizes that he must win more money to win
his mother s affections. He becomes mad and frantically searches for the next winner of the horse
races. On Paul s last ride to find the last winner of the horse race, he falls of the horse and eventually
dies.
Lawrence shows many points by applying these obvious symbols: the rocking horse and the
whispering house. The wooden rocking horse symbolizes the fantasy quest that Paul takes to attain
luck. This magical mysterious wooden horse also tells Paul who will win the horse races. The
whispering house symbolizes his mother s lust for money. The house constantly haunts Paul and his
siblings with the

Essay On Persepolis
The graphic novel Persepolis, written by Marjane Satrapi, explores the Islamic life and cultures during
the Islamic Revolution in Iran. In this novel, Satrapi narrates her life as a young girl when this
revolution took place. By narrating her life, Marjane Satrapi allows the reader to get an idea of what
she went through. This story includes people fighting for freedom, for themselves individually and for
their country. While some people do experience a small bit of freedom, there are people who do not
have any freedom at all. This novel explores many forms of captivity and freedom that help enhance
the theme and culture of the story. First, Persepolis includes many forms of freedom. For example, the
Shah has more freedom than anyone else in this novel. He makes the rules and he can break them if he
wants to without any consequences. His freedom ranges from being able to say what he wants, do
what he wants, to controlling thousands of people whether they like it or not. Marjane s family also ...

Some people did not agree with the amount of freedom they received so they decided to act upon it.
While some people got away with their actions, most people got arrested or even executed. One form
of captivity that the people in the novel encompass is the act of getting physically held captive in
prison or similar. Also, the Islamic people also experience religious captivity. They do not have a
freedom of religion like most other countries do. If these people go against the country s religion they
get arrested or even executed. They do not have the freedom they deserve when it comes to their
religious choices. The people of Iran are captivated by fear. They live in fear because of the Islamic
Revolution that takes place. They fear that if they do one thing wrong, even if it is small, then they
will be killed. Many innocent people got murdered during the revolution that resulted in the fear of

The Effect Of Salmon Kills On The Klamath
1. Salmon is everything was written about the 2002 fish kill on the Klamath river. There were several
factors that lead to the writing of salmon is everything. The most important of which was that there
was a lack of awareness in the community. The play was written so that people outside of the native
communities could better understand how the fish kill had effected those communities. The second
objective was to help and bring together the different viewpoints on the Klamath. I think that this play
was necessary because it helped to educate the local communities as well as bring the various
viewpoint together on to one stage.

Differences Between American Colonies And New England...
The American colonies were a diverse and interesting people. The colonies are typically split between
the New England colonies and the Southern colonies. While both sets of colonies would eventually
make up what is now the original thirteen colonies of the United States, they both had their similarities
and differences. What led to the differences of the two sets of colonies and how were they similar?
This question was relevant then and it is relevant in today s world. The southern colonies were mainly
controlled by an elite class of planters that owned the most land and had the most slaves. Below them
were the small farmers that had a few slaves and much smaller plots of land and at the bottom were
the landless white people. This social ladder made up the economic and political worlds in the south.
The planters were the most powerful politically and the most wealthy. This is in sharp contrast to the
New England colonies that were more focused on preserving a familial line and focused on their
families rather than on the next crop growth. The south had very fertile land and this led to the planters
taking over the social landscape. In New England the land wasn t as good and the population wasn t
made up of mostly farm and crop owners. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Charleston was the only major city in the south and because of this the people in the south didn t

had more options than just owning land and growing crops. The viewpoints on women and their rights
were also very different. In the south women who were widowed would be able to own the land their

Research Methods And Methodology Of A Systematic And...
Research Methods and Methodology
A methodological framework was necessary to organise the project in a systematic and rigorous way
however this methodological framework must be underpinned by a conceptual framework
(Denscombe, 2010), which represents my preferred approach to this inquiry. This framework supposes
that firstly, metacognition holds lifelong value for the pupils and will improve their enjoyment and
achievement. And secondly, that my teaching can be improved by more inclusion of metacognitive
strategies and provide a more enjoyable experience within the lab when compared to the traditional
scheme of work used at the school.
I considered using a case study approach to the research, which would provide deep understanding to
perceptions. It allows one aspect to be studied in depth (Bell, 2010) however this option was
dismissed as it did not allow for changes in practice and their evaluation. If I were to examine the
reasons for the decline in enjoyment of lessons from year 7 to year 8, a case study would be the
preferred mode of enquiry. I feel that action research is the most appropriate research methodology as
it allows changes in practice based on evidence gathered. It enhances the operation and processes on a
department or school backed by the collection of data (Denscombe, 2010). McNiff and Whitehead
(2011) state that it allows practitioners to investigate and evaluate their work. Action research allows
researchers to improve their practice, and their

Heavy Metals
Heavy metals such as arsenic (metalloid), mercury, lead, and cadmium have a rich history throughout
the world. From Ancient Rome to the Vietnamese War, heavy metals have been used in many different
ways, sometimes leading people to death or illness. This research essay will go through the history of
the above mentioned metals, how they were used, and how they can affect people. Arsenic Among the
first uses of arsenic in in 19th century was in taxidermy and painting (Cooksey 2012). Soon after, it
was determined that arsenic was poisonous leading to the passing of the Arsenic Act in 1854 which
required a signature for buying arsenic (Cooksey 2012). Despite this people continued to use arsenic

The mercury that was ingested in Japan came in the form of methyl mercury. Methyl mercury can
cross the blood brain barrier and cause ataxia, sensory disturbances, and changes in mental state
(Cooksey 2012). Lead In the past, lead was used in smelting, and it was known that the vapors can be
deadly (Cooksey 2012). In ancient Rome, lead containers were used to hold food and drink and was a
constant source of chronic toxicity for many years (Cooksey 2012). Although people were recognizing
the effects of lead, it wasn t until after 1950 that legislation banned lead in food and drink cans
(Cooksey 2012). Today, lead poisoning is a huge concern in China as the country becomes more
industrialized and the production and use of lead increases (Hou et al. 2013). According to Hou et. al,
lead can affect many organs and destroy functions of the nervous system (2013). A person can
accumulate lead in their body from the environment, and it tends to stay there. This means that
younger children are more vulnerable the longer they are exposed to lead. Children s blood brain
barriers are also not fully developed yet, making them more susceptible to lead poisoning (Hou et al.
2013). It has been observed that lead can impair growth, memory, intelligence, and behavior in these
children (Hou et al. 2013). Hou et al, conducted a study to observe the trend between blood lead levels
and cognitive development of children (2013). They found that blood lead levels had an obvious

The Framingham Heart Study
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the most common cause of mortality worldwide, especially in
developed countries. But they are also largely preventable, and many studies have tried to clarify the
related risk factors, and what could be done to avoid them.
The Framingham Heart Study was the first longitudinal cohort study to try to elucidate the etiology
and determinants of CVDs, and it s currently the longest running medical study in the world,
celebrating it s 68 years in 2016. It is in it s third generation now (grandchildren of the original
cohort), and although it s population is mainly of white European descent, the results were
fundamental in understanding the risk factors of CVDs. We recognize the need to know if the results
of this study, and its risk estimation module, could be applied to the Lebanese population, since no
major comparison study was done before in our country. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Summer Reading Influenced My Life
A typical summer day in the life of a six year old girl would consist of many common fun activities
such as coloring, watching the latest television shows on Disney Channel, and playing with Barbies.
However, when I was six years old my summer did not include any of those activities. Rather, my day
included summer reading lists, books, and even more books. It wasn t that I didn t enjoy any of the fun
activities most six year old girls did at my age, but I was much more fascinated with learning.

Improving service quality to meet customers standards is an ongoing part of doing business. In this
way, customers drive the market and the organization. At the same time that organizations act to
attract and satisfy customers, the customers themselves exercise ultimate influence. Their satisfaction
depends on both their expectations and their treatment. Through their choices, customers decide which
organizations survive and thrive, determine what goods and services are available, and shape how they
are provided. In addition to using their purchasing power, informed consumers can shape the
marketplace by communicating their preferences and standards to organizations that are poised to
listen and respond.
Contents of This Paper
For both service providers and consumers, making customer satisfaction a priority involves a
fundamental shift in thinking, organizing and acting. The customer satisfaction framework proposed in
this paper explores the potential of a customer satisfaction orientation as a means for improving the
goods and services, including those provided by the public sector, available to residents of tough
neighborhoods. This paper describes the ideas and research underlying the framework and potential
strategies for moving from concepts to action.

Tragic Heroism in Shakespeare s Antony And Cleopatra Essay
In the tragedy Antony and Cleopatra , Shakespeare presents our protagonist Mark Antony as a tragic
hero. He does this by using a number of dramatically effective methods, including language, staging
techniques and structure. Aristotle defines a tragic hero as a character of noble stature who has a tragic
flaw (usually hubris which is over confidence/arrogance) and suffers a downfall that is partially their
fault but also due to factors beyond their control. The downfall they suffer exceeds the crime but the
tragic hero gains some sort of self awareness.
Before the audience meets Antony, Shakespeare presents us with two soldiers discussing Antony s
current debauched life. This is dramatically effective staging because they are acting ... Show more

Another soldier calls him the god of Jupiter which elevates Antony s status to that of a great leader,
because Jupiter was the leader amongst all the other gods. Philo compares him to Mars, the god of
war, which shows elevates his stature to be one of equal rank with a god. Caesar recalls Antony s
excellent soldiership and virtus qualities. Virtus was the Roman ideal of male force and energy:
military prowess coupled with devotion to one s honour and fame. Antony had to drink/the stale of
horses and eat strange flesh and the bark of trees in order to stay alive and he was borne so like a
soldier that thy cheek...lanked not. These striking images paint an unfathomable scene of heroic
endurance which the audience respects and admires.
The audience is privy to a private conversation in Caesar s home between Caesar and Lepidus, who
were the other two thirds of the triple pillar of the world the triumvirate. The triumvirate were a
powerful political and military force; they ruled the Roman Empire after the murder of Julius Caesar.
During this conversation, they discuss Antony s debauched life and his former greatness in Caesar s
home where Caesar feels free to express his opinions honestly and he declares that Antony is a man
who is abstract of all faults and someone who would give a kingdom for mirth. This shows us how far
he has fallen in Caesar s eyes as his tone would be scathing and I imagine he would be pacing as he
ranted about Antony

RE: Old Mule Farms The Old Mule Farms is a cow calf operation that provides calves for feedlots to
fatten up before being sent to packing houses and eventually sold as meet for consumers. The current
owners have been experiencing a problem with losses in revenue. The expenses that Old Mule Farms

forage is primarily grazed grasses but is supplemented with hay.

Taking into consideration that the weight of the cows is a key driver of calf weight, which in turn is
the key driver of revenue.
An Old Mule Farms average cow weight ranges between 1000 lbs. and 1400 lbs. My recommendation
is that if they were to eliminate the lighter and heavier 40% of cows respectively, Old Mill Farms
would have heavier calves to sell, resulting in higher revenues. This would also reduce expenses each
of the heavier cows has been causing. This recommended approach will substantially reduce the
expenses incurred by heavier cows, and increase the calf sell weight produced by the lighter cows. The
best approach to measuring the proper size of a cow is to use the primary key driver of cow weight
and compare the value of a calf to the cost of maintaining a cow. The principle of diminishing
marginal productivity states that as one input in the production process is increased, there will be a
point in which the addition of an input will result in smaller and smaller benefit. We can relate this
principle with the weight of cows. As more nutrients, minerals, and forage is added to a cow the more
a cow weighs. This in turn results in heavier calves. However, when a cow begins to weigh over 1200
lbs. the weight of calves diminishes. When taking in to account the principle of diminishing marginal
utility, Old Mill Farms would be able to eliminate their losses by restricting their cow weight to 1200

The Fifth Amendment And The Rights During Arrest, Trial,...
No matter what the crime is, the Constitution is supposed to help protect the accused s rights during
arrest, trial, and sentencing. The Sixth Amendment clearly states that In all criminal prosecutions, the
accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district
wherein the crime shall have been committed... and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense .
If the accused is found to be guilty, the Eighth Amendment is there to protect us from the possibility of
cruel and unusual punishment. This is something as an American we all expect and we all assume is
what happens, but what if you re a minority, or have a mental impairment and you re facing the death
penalty, can you expect the same rights? Recent studies have shown that while the use of the death
penalty have gone down over the years since it was reinstated in 1976, there is still a staggering
number of statics showing inequality in the application of its use. A law professor from the University
of Iowa, David C. Baldus and two colleagues published a study not long after the reinstatement of the
death penalty in 1976 (Dow, 2011). In this study it looked at over 2,000 homicide cases just within
Georgia alone beginning in 1972, what they found was startling (Dow, 2011). Baldus found that black
defendants were 1.7 times more likely to be given the death penalty than white defendants and those

reduce our expectation of privacy. It was argued that before GPS and similar electronic technology,
month long surveillance of an individual s every move would have been costly exceptionally
demanding, requiring a tremendous amount of resources and people. As a result, society s expectations
were, and still are, that such complete and long term surveillance would not be undertaken, and that an
individual would not think it could occur to him or her. The advent of social media where the number

The USA Patriot Act and Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Acts are examples of actions that may be
deemed necessary in a time of war. During the period immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks
on the United States, the country was dubbed a Nation at War . This allowed laws that infringed on
expectations of privacy to be passed in order to deal with the security of the nation. It is important to
mention that such laws should have a term limit on when to expect a return to the constitutional
protections of individual rights. In concurrence with the third amendment provides that No Soldier
shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war,
but in a manner to be prescribed by law . Although the government in not permitted to house its
Soldiers in the private houses of citizens without their consent in either peace or war time, it can

Water Conservation Essay
Every month about 3.9 trillion gallons of water is consumed by the United States alone stated The
Water Information Program. Water conservation is when you use water efficiently and avoid waste.
Our water supply is restricted which means we don t have an endless supply. The Earth only has 3% of
fresh water and we only have access to about 1% of it. We currently have an increasing population
which makes it more important than ever to conserve our water supply. Most of the water we have
access to is either wasted or polluted. We need to take action to help conserve the water we use today!
Water is the most important substance to sustain human life. Water makes up to 60 percent of the
human body. We can survive roughly up to 7 8 days without water. It is important to conserve water
because it minimizes the effects of water shortages during droughts, water sustains human life, it helps
preserve our environment, and it saves money. Conserving water helps minimize the effects of water
shortages during droughts. Even though water eventually returns back to the Earth, it doesn t always
return to the same spot. When an area doesn t get the water it needs, a drought occurs. A drought
occurs when there is a prolonged period of abnormally low rainfall; resulting in water shortages.
Droughts also cause food shortages because when a drought takes place crops can t grow due to the
lack of water. Droughts can cause major damages and some areas can t recover. Conserving water can

Letter To The Colossians
Colossians Introduction: In the passage, The Bible instructs the population that Christ passed away for
the sins of mankind. It provides instruction for all of mankind and allows human beings to accept their
gifts and their faults as well. The reader of the passage is asked to impart these lessons and apply them
into their everyday lives. The letter to the Colossians is intent to both explain Christ s position in the
world and to assert unequivocally that he was indeed the son of God and was the leader of men and
also above all men. Besides being instructive on the philosophical basis of Christianity, it also serves
as a lecture about the dangers of false prophecy and obedience to people besides the lord God himself.
Historical Cultural Background: Following the death of Jesus Christ there was a desire in his followers
to spread his messages and to build the church which would teach his word to as many as would listen
and embrace his ideas. At this time, there was as yet, no unified instruction about how to teach and
spread Christianity. Consequentially, there were many different variations and interpretations of the
words of Christ being cultivated and taught as the very word of the Lord. This was obviously before
the writing of The Bible as a completed work and so those who wanted to participate in the Christian
religion only had access to the stories and instructions through the oral repetition (Lewis 2010). When
information is passed down orally as opposed to the

The Industry
The grocery industry in the United States is currently an attractive industry (a.k.a. profitable).
This attractiveness derives from the relative low threat of new entrants, low supplier and buyer
powers, and low threat of substitutes. The main factors driving these results are the low concentration
of suppliers and buyers, the significant barriers to entry due to high up front investment costs (for
infrastructure and distribution channels) and scale economies, low availability of substitutes 1, and the
threat of retaliation from incumbents (by lowering price, for example). However, it is ... Show more

In addition, customers complaints with parking could ultimately lead them to choose bigger stores or

Given the situation described in the previous paragraphs and on the exhibits, Trader Joe s should
consider the following two recommendations for its future growth: Start a social media campaign and
emphasize on the organic food movement by branding organic products with the Trader
Joe s name.
For the social media campaign to match TJ s culture, the company should emphasize on artsy online
platforms such as Instagram, to integrate photos and hashtags, Twitter, to tweet about new products or
recipes, and Vimeo, to upload videos of their recipes, instead of Facebook and
YouTube which go beyond the TJ s target market of educated individuals. Also, in order to take
advantage of smart devices, TJ should develop an app for iOS and Android that could integrate both
platforms, the online website, and the online fan base that currently exists.
Trader Joe s should also engage in branding its own line of organic products (including meats).
Since competition is rapidly moving into TJ s strategic group (given the low mobility barriers), the
company should make use of its established brand (associated with quality and uniqueness) and strong
supplier relations in order to further enhance its participation on

Un People, Un But, Une Foi
Un People, Un But, Une Foi
After going through a rut during the Middle Ages, culture, exploration, and power boomed all over the
world during the Renaissance. European explorers traveled down the coast of Africa, and in one of the
least explored areas, which became known as Mali, they found a culture not replicated in the rest of
the world. Mali never wanted to be oppressed, and this led to a lot of conflict throughout its history
from ancient times to as recently as today. Though Mali has had a tumultuous past, buried underneath
the rubble of many wars and conflicts is a culture unlike any other in the world, a foundation not
based on government but on traditions dating back almost two thousand years.
Archaeologists know from ruins that Mali has been populated for about 50,000 years. During ancient
times, part of the Sahara was a fertile grassland, and farming was introduced to this land in 5000 BCE.
The earliest traceable civilization in Mali is the Ghana Empire, which began in 300 BCE (Baxter 1).
Lasting until the thirteenth century A.D., the Ghana Empire ruled most of northwestern Africa. Ghana,
defined as leading or first, controlled from the Niger basin to the Atlantic until its collapse and the
establishment of the Mali Empire in the thirteenth century (African History: An Illustrated Handbook
1).
The Mali Empire, one of the most powerful empires in the country s history, ruled until 1591 and
gained their success by trading gold, salt, and slaves to the Europeans. The

Postmodernist View Aesthetic Beauty
Beauty transcends the eye of the beholder because whatever is, objectively true and noble and right
(Groothuis 256) embodies beauty according to God s standard. Although postmodernist view aesthetic
beauty through the lens of subjectivity God expects Christians to discern beauty through objectivity. In
other words, we attribute beauty (moral and aesthetic) to expressions and characters that reflect God s
glory according to his values identified in scripture. Postmodernist views argue, the meaning of an
artwork need not be fixed or even discernible (246) so the nature of expressions is aimless. While
Christian, objective standards for aesthetics, ...esteem art as a medium for truth and beauty... . In fact,

Impact Of Tourism On The International Tourism
People are travelling further and more frequently for a various causes like holidays, business, and
education. Tourism plays a vital role in Australian economy. Foreign household incomes, the cost of
travel and the comparative price of tourism in Australia with other places, are the important factors
which influences demand for international tourism.(Pc.gov.au, 2016)
Demand for the international tourism in Australia has grown strongly over the past two decades. The
number of international visitors has increased from 2.5 million in 1992 to almost 6.7 million in 2014,
which is more than doubled. (Pc.gov.au, 2016)
Tourism industry is set to be a major focus for economic growth, as the country is facing the continued
economic downturn in the mining industry. (Young and Winter, 2014). It contributes higher than the
agricultural sector in Australian GDP. Tourism spending contributed almost 3 per cent of Australia s
GDP, one third of which was by international visitors, in 2014.
In 2013/14, tourism denoted 2.7%, or 43.4 billion of Australian GDP. It also employed 4.6% of all
employed Australians around 500,000 people. (Scutt, 2015). In 2013, tourist spending in the tourism
industry exceeded $98.5 billion. (Young and Winter, 2014).
Tourists from Asia, specifically from China and India are the main growth area for Australian tourists
exports. In 2014/15, the number of temporary arrivals from China to Australia increased to 935k from
770k in 2013/14. (Scutt, 2015)

Examples Of Sustainable Development In Animal Farm
Animal Farm s Sustainable Development
Throughout the novella Animal Farm by George Orwell, Orwell mimics the reality of the Russian
Revolution in 1917 as an allegory that shows Animals on a Farm. Their goal is to create a sovereign/
independent community apart from the humans by initiating a rebellion. In the novella, this
community shows indicators of sustainable development or lack there of. Despite this, the animal farm
society has witnessed changes to their development. At first they seem to reflect the aims of a
sustainably developed society and then certain aspects prevented them from reaching sustainability.
Those changes include economic wealth such as how they sustained their resources and trade between
different partners, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The animal farm s political system and government first stood on dictatorship grounds by the one and
only dictator Mr. Jones. The animals were left treated with the poorest of care, until they carried out a
rebellion against Mr. Jones and all the humans at the farm that altered their government system. The
Rebellion had been successfully carried through; Jones was expelled and the Manor Farm was theirs
(Animal Farm, 14) where they followed the new system, a Democratic system with their new leaders
Snowball and Napoleon that obeyed the principles of Animalism to seven commandments. (Animal
Farm, 14). Up until this point, the animal farm is focusing on their newly built society to reach
sustainable development by stabilizing their government and applying rules and order. These
unalterable commandments of the principle of Animalism that all animals should have followed, later
on were amended to counterpart the animals action or in particularly the pigs that had the most power.

The Extent to Which the Principle of Sustainability Guides Land Use Policy Development
The idea of developing in such a way that the present can meet their needs without future generations
needs being compromised is not a new one. It has been practiced and continues to be practiced by
many groups of people across the world. For example, this principle is embedded in Aboriginal beliefs
that they come from the land, and must return to the land and so must be custodians to the land. The
Brundtland Commission, chaired by the Norwegian prime minister, brought the concept to the
foreground where the famous definition of sustainability was given. This essay will discuss the idea of

Limits to Growth [2] is a book that tried to explain how economic expansion must soon come to an
end , because of environmental limits. Our Common Future , the sequel to this book, starts from
essentially similar understandings of the nature of the economy environment interconnections, but
draws the conclusion that growth can and should continue, however, this growth would take a
different form from past growth, and should be sustainable.
By the start of the 1990s about three quarters of councils in England, Scotland and Wales already had
a green plan of some kind in effect or in preparation, some explicitly recognising the need to extend to
global issues such as global warming as well as local matters. What was new in the 1990s was the
degree to which central government began to give formal support to sustainable development, and to
land use planning as a means of achieving it, in some cases producing the relevant policies and
legislation in response to international commitments. Sustainability is now one of the UK
governments key objectives. A commitment to national sustainability plans was a key component of
the UNCED agreements in 1992,

Rhetorical Analysis Of Hockey Immoral By Edward Mcclelland
There are many images that the word hockey conjures up. Gen X ers might remember Game on! from
Wayne s World, while San Antonians might think of hockey as the other sport played in the AT T
center. Edward McClelland s article Blame Canada! Fighting Has Turned Hockey Immoral attempts to
explore the differences between National Hockey League (NHL) and international styles of play and
call for reforms to the current practices in the NHL. In order to evaluate McClelland s article
thoroughly, it is important to consider the use of rhetorical strategies and structure.
One of the claims McClelland puts forth in the article concerns the role of the enforcer, also referred
to as goon throughout the article. The author does not define the term, ... Show more content on

percent of readers are well educated and sixty percent of its readers are male. This information seems

readers interest in sports. In contrast to another online magazine such as The Daily Beast, no section
of the site is dedicated exclusively to sports, indicating that Salon might not be the go to place for
sports news and analysis. A quick web search of the author also reveals that McClelland does not
usually cover sports; his usual topics do not even seem to be tangentially sports related. While this
information does not necessarily mean that readers should discount everything he says, it does call
into question his authority on the subject and shed some light on his over reliance on first person

Fans Are Not Like In Sports Stadiums
Each year thousands of people leave events because stadiums do not do much to encourage them to
come back. Without incentives, stadiums will lose many people at events and that results in a major
loss of income. In order for a stadium to be successful, owners must intimately know what fans
dislike, have a clear understanding of what they like, and figure out what fans want in sports stadiums
in order for them to come back. A big amount of money is made in stadiums when the owners find out
what the fans like seeing in the stadiums and even trying to make what they like even better, like The
unique roof that redirects the noise onto the visitor s team sideline. This definitely must be true since
the Vikings are undefeated still, somehow (The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Disadvantages Of Municipal Fragmentation
Across the globe, governments struggle to sufficiently represent their citizens. The breaking down of
government responsibilities varies between countries, but one aspect that no country can agree on is
what constitutes a municipality and how much responsibility a municipality should have. Should a city
region be split into competing small municipalities, or should there be one municipal government for
the entire region? Across Europe following World War II fragmentation due to land reform was
favoured (Jurgenson, 2016, p. 34) whereas now in present day, consolidation seems to be more
desirable by governments seeking to be more cost efficient (Carmichael Midwinter, 1999, p. 163). As
a means to compromise, city regions should be governed by a system that incorporates both aspects of
fragmentation and consolidation. Through the analysis of economic effects, government issues, and
cultural factors I will explore the benefits of municipal fragmentation and consolidation. A central
occupation of a municipality is the distribution of funds to various services. Municipalities can face
several difficulties in regard to their economy because of their lack of power and responsibilities.
Fragmentation could aid municipalities according to Grassmueck and Shields (2009) in their study
Does government fragmentation enhance or hinder metropolitan economic growth? that suggests that
regions with relatively fragmented governments had stronger relative economic performance over the

  • 2. President Trump Lifting The Sanctions Case Study The big news last week was when President Trump lifted the sanctions on a Chinese business enterprise, ZTE. The story begins with, Trump s own Commerce Department banning shipments of American technology to ZTE for seven years. Why? Because ZTE violated American s sanction s against countries banned by the United States, included Iran and North Korea. President Trumps own administration has said, ZTE was threatening national security by doing so. Another irony President Trump has long claimed that China is raping us through unfair trade practices, stealing trade secrets and stealing American jobs. So why did he lift the sanctions? Lawrence, and The Lottery, by Shirley Jackson, the two authors illustrate symbols and themes throughout their stories in which one common idea is present: perhaps winning is not always positive. The Rocking Horse Winner, by D.H. Lawrence is a fictional story about a woman s obsession for money and the lack of love and affection she shows to her family. Her son Paul hopes to change his mother s mind set in order to gain her love by becoming lucky. Paul discovers a way to become lucky from a rocking horse that he receives as a Christmas present. That s why it s better to be born lucky than rich. If you re rich you may lose money. But if you re lucky, you will always have money. (236) This pushes Paul to desperately seek out luck so that his mother will be grateful for her life and provide her family with the love and affection that they so rightfully deserve. Paul believes his rocking horse is full of magical powers, which will help him achieve the luck he needs to gain his mother s love. While Paul rides his rocking horse, the horse predicts the winning horse and ends up making Paul an appalling amount of money. Paul gives his winnings to his mother who squanders it on unnecessary materialistic things. He realizes that he must win more money to win his mother s affections. He becomes mad and frantically searches for the next winner of the horse races. On Paul s last ride to find the last winner of the horse race, he falls of the horse and eventually dies. Lawrence shows many points by applying these obvious symbols: the rocking horse and the whispering house. The wooden rocking horse symbolizes the fantasy quest that Paul takes to attain luck. This magical mysterious wooden horse also tells Paul who will win the horse races. The whispering house symbolizes his mother s lust for money. In this novel, Satrapi narrates her life as a young girl when this revolution took place. By narrating her life, Marjane Satrapi allows the reader to get an idea of what she went through. This story includes people fighting for freedom, for themselves individually and for their country. While some people do experience a small bit of freedom, there are people who do not have any freedom at all. The play was written so that people outside of the native communities could better understand how the fish kill had effected those communities. • 8. Differences Between American Colonies And New England... The American colonies were a diverse and interesting people. The colonies are typically split between the New England colonies and the Southern colonies. While both sets of colonies would eventually make up what is now the original thirteen colonies of the United States, they both had their similarities and differences. What led to the differences of the two sets of colonies and how were they similar? This question was relevant then and it is relevant in today s world. The southern colonies were mainly controlled by an elite class of planters that owned the most land and had the most slaves. Below them were the small farmers that had a few slaves and much smaller plots of land and at the bottom were the landless white people. This social ladder made up the economic and political worlds in the south. The planters were the most powerful politically and the most wealthy. This is in sharp contrast to the New England colonies that were more focused on preserving a familial line and focused on their families rather than on the next crop growth. • 9. Research Methods And Methodology Of A Systematic And... Research Methods and Methodology A methodological framework was necessary to organise the project in a systematic and rigorous way however this methodological framework must be underpinned by a conceptual framework (Denscombe, 2010), which represents my preferred approach to this inquiry. This framework supposes that firstly, metacognition holds lifelong value for the pupils and will improve their enjoyment and achievement. And secondly, that my teaching can be improved by more inclusion of metacognitive strategies and provide a more enjoyable experience within the lab when compared to the traditional scheme of work used at the school. I considered using a case study approach to the research, which would provide deep understanding to perceptions. It allows one aspect to be studied in depth (Bell, 2010) however this option was dismissed as it did not allow for changes in practice and their evaluation. If I were to examine the reasons for the decline in enjoyment of lessons from year 7 to year 8, a case study would be the preferred mode of enquiry. I feel that action research is the most appropriate research methodology as it allows changes in practice based on evidence gathered. It enhances the operation and processes on a department or school backed by the collection of data (Denscombe, 2010). McNiff and Whitehead (2011) state that it allows practitioners to investigate and evaluate their work. Action research allows researchers to improve their practice, and their ... Lead In the past, lead was used in smelting, and it was known that the vapors can be deadly (Cooksey 2012). In ancient Rome, lead containers were used to hold food and drink and was a constant source of chronic toxicity for many years (Cooksey 2012). Although people were recognizing the effects of lead, it wasn t until after 1950 that legislation banned lead in food and drink cans (Cooksey 2012). Today, lead poisoning is a huge concern in China as the country becomes more industrialized and the production and use of lead increases (Hou et al. 2013). According to Hou et. al, lead can affect many organs and destroy functions of the nervous system (2013). A person can accumulate lead in their body from the environment, and it tends to stay there. This means that younger children are more vulnerable the longer they are exposed to lead. Children s blood brain barriers are also not fully developed yet, making them more susceptible to lead poisoning (Hou et al. 2013). It has been observed that lead can impair growth, memory, intelligence, and behavior in these children (Hou et al. 2013). Virtus was the Roman ideal of male force and energy: military prowess coupled with devotion to one s honour and fame. Antony had to drink/the stale of horses and eat strange flesh and the bark of trees in order to stay alive and he was borne so like a soldier that thy cheek...lanked not. These striking images paint an unfathomable scene of heroic endurance which the audience respects and admires. The audience is privy to a private conversation in Caesar s home between Caesar and Lepidus, who were the other two thirds of the triple pillar of the world the triumvirate. The triumvirate were a powerful political and military force; they ruled the Roman Empire after the murder of Julius Caesar. During this conversation, they discuss Antony s debauched life and his former greatness in Caesar s home where Caesar feels free to express his opinions honestly and he declares that Antony is a man who is abstract of all faults and someone who would give a kingdom for mirth. This shows us how far he has fallen in Caesar s eyes as his tone would be scathing and I imagine he would be pacing as he ranted about Antony ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Old Mule Farms Case Study Essay Case Study Memorandum TO: Dr. Kathleen Sheehan, BECO 4310 003 FROM: Brian J. Walsh DATE: 3/2/2015 RE: Old Mule Farms The Old Mule Farms is a cow calf operation that provides calves for feedlots to fatten up before being sent to packing houses and eventually sold as meet for consumers. The current owners have been experiencing a problem with losses in revenue. The expenses that Old Mule Farms incurred are veterinary bills, labor, nutritional supplements and minerals, and a variety of forage. The forage is primarily grazed grasses but is supplemented with hay. The owners of the farm have found a correlation between the weight of a cow, and the cost of feeding it, in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Taking into consideration that the weight of the cows is a key driver of calf weight, which in turn is the key driver of revenue. An Old Mule Farms average cow weight ranges between 1000 lbs. and 1400 lbs. My recommendation is that if they were to eliminate the lighter and heavier 40% of cows respectively, Old Mill Farms would have heavier calves to sell, resulting in higher revenues. This would also reduce expenses each of the heavier cows has been causing. This recommended approach will substantially reduce the expenses incurred by heavier cows, and increase the calf sell weight produced by the lighter cows. The best approach to measuring the proper size of a cow is to use the primary key driver of cow weight and compare the value of a calf to the cost of maintaining a cow. The principle of diminishing marginal productivity states that as one input in the production process is increased, there will be a point in which the addition of an input will result in smaller and smaller benefit. We can relate this principle with the weight of cows. As more nutrients, minerals, and forage is added to a cow the more a cow weighs. This in turn results in heavier calves. However, when a cow begins to weigh over 1200 lbs. the weight of calves diminishes. When taking in to account the principle of diminishing marginal utility, Old Mill Farms would be able to eliminate their losses by restricting their cow weight to 1200 ... No matter what the crime is, the Constitution is supposed to help protect the accused s rights during arrest, trial, and sentencing. The Sixth Amendment clearly states that In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed... and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense . If the accused is found to be guilty, the Eighth Amendment is there to protect us from the possibility of cruel and unusual punishment. This is something as an American we all expect and we all assume is what happens, but what if you re a minority, or have a mental impairment and you re facing the death penalty, can you expect the same rights? Recent studies have shown that while the use of the death penalty have gone down over the years since it was reinstated in 1976, there is still a staggering number of statics showing inequality in the application of its use. A law professor from the University of Iowa, David C. Baldus and two colleagues published a study not long after the reinstatement of the death penalty in 1976 (Dow, 2011). In this study it looked at over 2,000 homicide cases just within Georgia alone beginning in 1972, what they found was startling (Dow, 2011). It provides instruction for all of mankind and allows human beings to accept their gifts and their faults as well. The reader of the passage is asked to impart these lessons and apply them into their everyday lives. The letter to the Colossians is intent to both explain Christ s position in the world and to assert unequivocally that he was indeed the son of God and was the leader of men and also above all men. Besides being instructive on the philosophical basis of Christianity, it also serves as a lecture about the dangers of false prophecy and obedience to people besides the lord God himself. Historical Cultural Background: Following the death of Jesus Christ there was a desire in his followers to spread his messages and to build the church which would teach his word to as many as would listen and embrace his ideas. At this time, there was as yet, no unified instruction about how to teach and spread Christianity. Consequentially, there were many different variations and interpretations of the words of Christ being cultivated and taught as the very word of the Lord. This was obviously before the writing of The Bible as a completed work and so those who wanted to participate in the Christian religion only had access to the stories and instructions through the oral repetition (Lewis 2010). The breaking down of government responsibilities varies between countries, but one aspect that no country can agree on is what constitutes a municipality and how much responsibility a municipality should have. Should a city region be split into competing small municipalities, or should there be one municipal government for the entire region? Across Europe following World War II fragmentation due to land reform was favoured (Jurgenson, 2016, p. 34) whereas now in present day, consolidation seems to be more desirable by governments seeking to be more cost efficient (Carmichael Midwinter, 1999, p. 163).
