U.s. Troops From Afghanistan
Exiting Afghanistan
Austin Schmidt
American Government
Mr. Pankow
November 18, 2014
Over the years there s been a lot of controversy over the fact that U.S. troops are currently residing in
Afghanistan and have been there since 2001. Many are wondering why we re still there and why
haven t we left yet. Others want to know the positive outcomes of the roughly thirteen years that our
troops have been there. Are we doing the right thing by being there? Background information about
the War in Afghanistan is absolutely necessary in order to discuss the withdrawal of United States
troops from Afghanistan. The history intertwining the United States and Afghanistan is a long and
complex chronology. For full transparency I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shortly after the Republic of Afghanistan was set up by Mohammed Daoud Khan, the Afghanistan s
presidential palace was attacked by a section of the communist People s Democratic Party of
Afghanistan called the Khalq faction. Mohammed Daoud Khan was killed and his government
overthrown in the process of this revolution called the Saur Revolution. A man named Nur
Muhammad Taraki takes control of the new government that came into power after the Saur
Revolution, and he set up a Marxist Government. His government s goal was to industrialize
Afghanistan and provide full equality for women. This enraged fundamentalists deeply, but Taraki
carried on with his plans. On December 5th of 1978, Taraki signed the 20 Year Treaty of Friendship
with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics(USSR). This treaty was developed for a few reasons.
One, to strengthen the internal strength of Taraki s party, and Afghanistan s international security and
presence. Two, the Soviets agreed to undertake helping Taraki improve Afghanistan s social and
economic achievement. Third, to increase the defensive capabilities of both nations. Finally, to declare
a twenty year unshakable friendship between the two parties. On January 1st, 1979, Taraki began
internal land reforms in Afghanistan that upset many long holding Afghani families. This reform
limited them to the amount of land they could own, which was dependent on the quality of the land .

Machiavelli And Socrates
Although both are considered some of the greatest political and philosophical thinkers of their
respective times, Socrates and Niccoló Machiavelli had very different methods and beliefs of how a
political system should be run. The mindset of Socrates can be seen in the works Apology and Crito
by Plato. Socrates, who values wisdom and justice over power and prestige, would view Machiavelli s
concept of a Prince very contradicting to how he believes a good life should be lived. In his work, The
Prince, Machiavelli details how a prince should rule and maintain power. Socrates would not be
supportive of Machiavelli and his Prince s political system because it is rooted in unethical behaviors.
Machiavelli views these actions as virtues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To Machiavelli, the true virtues of a prince should be stinginess, cruelty, and manipulation. He takes
traditional Christian virtues, which most see as good, and criticizes them, saying they are vices and
hurtful to a prince.
Socrates ideal Prince is much different than that of Machiavelli. Socrates found great power in his
analysis of Athens, rather than direct involvement. Through questioning, reason, and critical analysis
he attempts to instill wisdom, truth and virtue in Athens, specifically in the youth. He was charged
with corrupting the youth because his idea of how life should be lived was much different than that of
the states. Socrates corrupted the youth of Athens because he degenerated or undeveloped them from
becoming strong political, economic, and military leaders. The people of Athens, in particular the
wealthy and powerful, wanted their children to be educated in ideals that Machiavelli would support.
It was the job for these privileged youth to learn how to be strong leaders so the city could run
smoothly in the future and Socrates was undermining this structure. If the youth Socrates was teaching
were treated as a counterpart to Machiavelli s Prince, a difference in ideals and teachings can be
found. Machiavelli teaches his Prince how to maintain power at all costs, while Socrates teaches his
students to put aside the concept of materialistic power such as wealth and

Benefits of Implementing Company Health Fitness Programs...
Workplace Benefits of Health and Fitness Programs
Furthermore, fitness programs can benefit companies far beyond a spending stand point. There are
many benefits of incorporating fitness into your daily routine, and some people are unaware of the
impact it can have on every aspect of their life. Making health and fitness a priority in your life can
result in dramatic change. Creating a healthy lifestyle through fitness and nutrition programs and then
following through on those programs with self assessment practices and goal setting techniques can
significantly decrease self defeating behaviors not only in the workplace, but in day to day life as well.
There are many different ways to get involved in fitness, and the benefits are well worth ... Show more

In addition, Memphis is among one of the most overweight cities in America, making it crucial that
we emphasize health and fitness in our businesses locally (Men s Fitness, 2014). Being overweight
causes a number of health issues such as high cholesterol, heart disease, and diabetes. This can cause
employees to miss work, drive up health care costs, and not be as productive when they are at work. In
addition, health and fitness programs can help employees who already have health problems return to
work sooner. For example, employees who have been diagnosed with heart disease and who
participate in an exercise program have returned to work much quicker, and in addition, the death rate
has also been cut down twenty to twenty five percent when employees engage in fitness routines
(Meyers, 2003). Therefore, beginning a fitness program can not only significantly decrease the
chances of someone obtaining one of these diseases, but can also decrease the amount of work they
may miss due to these illnesses; henceforth, increasing the overall health of the workplace,
productivity, and employee efficiency (Meyers, 2003).
Making a fitness program also has a great impact on team environments. Fitness programs will lead to
better morale, a more positive workplace, and an environment that will be more productive for all
employees and team members. Fitness programs present employees with team building activities such
as marathons, sprint

The Circle by Dave Eggers Essay
Cristal Zeas Professor Rogoff FYE 1320 April 1, 2014 Sharing is Caring In present day society,
individuals dedicate their time to social media on the internet and electronics, towards updating
statuses, rebloging pictures, favoriting videos, reading up on current events, and staying connected in
general. It s only been 25 years since Tim Burners Lee invented the world wide web and it s no secret
that it is one of the most progressive and influential invention of our time. Dave Eggers, in his current

The creator of SeaChanges, Eamon Bailey, tries to sugarcoat the necessity of having such gear when
he says, There needs to be accountability. Tyrants can no longer hide. There needs to be, and will be,
documentation and accountability, and we need to bear witness...All that happens must be known
(Eggers 67). With this device, any one is capable of hooking up a gadget anywhere they want, at any
moment, and anyone can become transparent (as the book calls it) without even knowing it.
Everything sounds idealistic so far. The common people will be able to view their possessions, make
sure everything is safe, take a vacation without actually leaving their household, and even check up on
family members on occasion. Even a politician can wear it on their shirt and have the whole world
keep tabs on how the politician negotiates and make deals. But agreeing with Margret Atwood with
her review of the book, this can lead to a very dystopian world, questioning How involved can
corporations and government be involved with the personal lives of individuals? (Atwood). How
much involvement government/politics and businesses has on privacy towards themselves and people
outside of their work has been an issue for many years, but it has recently became a big issue in the
world today because of Edward Snowden, former U.S. contractor of the National Security Agency,

Literary Magnum Opus of Toni Cade Bambara Essay
For this final essay I selected three literary masterpieces namely the story titled The Lesson by Toni
Cade Bambara, and two Emily Dickinson s Poems: I heard a fly buzz and The heart asks for pleasure
first. The following essay will explore these works in a greater detail focusing on the elements of
literature, such as the theme, the character, settings and conflicts. It will find ways to connect, relate or
compare one literary work to two others as well as it will analyze the specific element in the selections
with some depth. The paper will support points with appropriate examples from the selections and
explain how the examples support those points. The main work in the consideration is a literary

the blacks. Throughout the play Miss Moore was the role model for the black children encouraging
them to never give up and to move on. In one episode Miss Moore took the children to the upper class

Namely they went to see a handcrafted sailboat made of fiberglass that cost 1195 dollars! (44). The
children could not really understand such high price. The only thing that they learnt was their

Miss Moore obtained. The children learn to never give up and to rather strive to get the best in life and

Heathers Essay
The movie that I have chosen is a classic film from 1988 called Heathers. Heathers is an American
cult black comedy film written by Daniel Waters and directed by Michael Lehmann. The film portrays
four teenage girls three of whom are named Heather in a clique and a teen named Veronica Sawyer
who desperately wants to fit in, as well as a crazy and unstable boy named J.D that plans to ruin it all.
The focus of this essay will be on three characters. Analyzing their internal and external battles, as
well as their social interactions with loved ones and other members of their fictional society. To begin,
I will focus on Veronica Sawyer. Out of the entire movie Veronica has the most stable family. Born as
an only child, her mom and dad were active and involved parents. Veronica attended an Ohio high
school where she met the heathers . The heathers were three extremely popular teens that ran the
school and Veronica wanted nothing more than to be like them. The looking glass self has a very
prominent role in regards to Veronica. She viewed herself as less because she was not as popular or
liked as the Heathers. One night after being harassed by the Heathers at a party, Veronica and J.D (a
boy she began seeing) went to Heather Chandler s house with hopes to be accepted by her. After
Heather had embarrassed Veronica in front of J.D Heather asks for a drink. While Veronica was not
looking J.D poured laundry detergent into the cup thus killing Heather Chandler. As she died

ASIC V Citigroup Case
INTRODUCTION
ASIC v Citigroup case was one of the biggest investment banking case of the year where the federal
court dismissed ASIC s allegation of breach of insider trading and the takeover of an advising party.
Citi group received applause from commentators for their current practices, and the case fiduciary
duties were affirmed upon the legal bases the investment banks and the effectiveness of the Chinese
walls as a mean of dealing with potential conflicts (Ritchie 2008, p.1). Chinese walls are barriers
which were formed mainly to avoid conflicts which results in ethical practices rather than separation
within an organization, in this case of investment banking the Chinese walls may separate a person
who possess information to make investment decision to those who make investment decisions which
could influence those decisions (Tesarsch 2007, p.632).
Upon further analysis the case was deemed premature due to unqualified win for the investment bank.
Most of ASIC s claims collapsed which saved Citigroup, where the court s found out that there was no
fiduciary relationship between both parties. Citigroup is a large firm which has various divisions such
as equities trading and investment banking, the private side of the business is where the employees of
investment banking sector are exposed to market sensitive and confidential information and the
employees who work in other sectors such an equities trading is called the public side of the business.

The Role Of Cousins In Professional Sports
With the NFL off season fast approaching, there are a lot of storylines to keep an eye on that could
make this off season really interesting. One story to keep an eye on is the drama between the
Washington Redskins and their franchise quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Ever since the last off season, Cousins has been asking to get a new contract the problem with that is
the team and Cousins can not agree on a deal. Over the past few weeks, people have been speculating
if the team would trade him. The question now is should the team trade Cousins?
Drafted in the 4th round of the 2012 draft, Cousins was drafted to be the long term backup for Robert

The only thing that is standing in his way of getting a new deal is how much does he want? It all
depends on his asking price, he is heading to his 30 s soon so he should want to get the most money he
can get right now and not wait.
On the Redskins side of things, the team is playing the waiting game with Cousins when it comes to a
new contract which could at the end of the day be a really bad thing. Multiple reports that are out there
are saying that the team does not think he is worth the money he is asking for.
The Redskins should do the smart thing and just lock him up right now as long as he does not want
over 100 million dollars a fair asking price is between 50 million dollars and 70 million dollars. There
are not a lot of franchise quarterbacks out there right now, and the team can not afford to lose him
right now.
At the end of the day, the Redskins should not trade Cousins he is too valuable to the franchise right
now and he means a lot to the locker room. If the team does trade him, there are not going to be a lot
of options to replace him with the quarterbacks in the draft do not have the potential that Cousins has

Hamilton s Letter Atkinson Analysis
Manitoba; we are doing better here than we could do in Ontario, despite the ravages made by the
grasshoppers. Two of us cleared one hundred and sixty dollars per month all summer while the other
two are employed in other trades in the province, equally successful. Regardless of the letter Hamilton
uses as evidence, the grasshopper invasions had dramatic effects of the residents of Manitoba.
Mennonites, who recently immigrated to the province, had major crop failures due to grasshoppers
and frosts which caused them to rely on governmental loans. As historian Sarah Carter puts it,
grasshoppers were a reoccurring problem in Manitoba and returned with a vengeance in 1873 75,

The War Against Terrorism Essay
The War Against Terrorism
On August 2nd 1990, Iraq invaded the small oil rich country of Kuwait on its southeastern border. Iraq
claimed that Kuwait was a long time province from the 1800 s and early 1900s , whose lands belonged
under control of Iraq, a so called province. Saddam Hussein also argued that Kuwait was pumping oil
from an oil field that was on the border of the two countries and belonged to Iraq. Upon gaining
control of Kuwait, Hussein was able to eliminate his previous debt to Kuwait and gain it s substantial
oil wealth, roughly 10% of the worlds oil supply. Regardless of the motives behind Iraq s invasion,
under international law, none of Iraq s claims against Kuwait justified its invasion of that country.

In the aftermath of the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11th, the world has had a
sobering look at world terrorism. Led mainly by the United States, and supported by the United
Nations, a new war on terrorism has begun. Overwhelming support worldwide has surfaced as
President Bush has vowed to punish those who decide to commit terrorist acts, as well as those who
harbor or condone these activities. So far Bush has followed through on his promise with the war in
Afghanistan against the Taliban regime. Others are also displaying their understanding of the situation
and are treading a great deal lighter in search of their causes to avoid being labeled as terrorists, as
shown by the latest disarmament and return to the negotiating table by the Irish Republican Army. As
the world watches, President Bush is now faced with enormous pressure to gain control of the Arab
Israeli conflict.
However, this situation is a difficult one. With Israeli s continual attempt to occupy more land in the
disputed settlements, Palestinian anger only grows. With Yasir Arafat s inability to control, or
unwillingness to control, such militant groups as Hamas and Islamic Jihad, chances of the two sides
reaching a piece agreement dwindle.

The Nutritional Code Of Food Label
Food Label
There are many things that are confusing and overwhelming when it comes to making nutritious
choices. One product will have a high content of something good and another will have low content in
something bad. When it is time to consider what we put in our bodies we have ample opportunity to
weight the pros and cons of various products. According to the Nielsen Global Survey in 2011 sixty
percent of the population doesn t not understand the mandatory nutritional code in order to properly
identify the ingredients they are considering ingesting. Alarmingly, this statistic is that the nutrition
label and the ingredients list are the only true allies a consumer has when determining what we should
be eating. Only they tell the full story of what the food we are consuming is comprised of. For this
assignment I was asked to first select two pairs of similar food products from the supermarket and
then secondly compare them, while critically evaluating both their food labels and ingredients. I chose
to compare coconut milk against 2% dairy milk and rolled oats versus steel cut oats. I am going to
address the following comparisons in the body of my essay: the nutrition facts table, serving sizes,
price, ingredients, product claims, percentage of daily value (%DV), whether they are part of a healthy
eating plan, and lastly whether their labeling is clear and concise. On the war against obesity and
disease caused by diet, food labels and ingredient lists are the consumers

Grandma Kuhn Definition Of A Mentor
Definition of mentor; An experienced and trusted advisor. We as catholics have some of the strongest
faith in our Lord, but who do we have as mentors? We all have different people we see as mentors.
Whether in sports, education, life, and in this case faith. For my faith mentor I look up to my grandma
Kuhn. I see her as the exact definition of mentor.
The family she has raised and started is very big with many, many grandkids and great grandkids. She
and my grandpa are the roots to the very large Kuhn family. She has been through hard times and
good. Through all she has kept her faith. This is why I chose her. Through thick and thin she has
remained a devoted catholic and always kept true to her ways.
My grandma has always showed faith by her actions. She has helped our church up until a couple
years ago when she finally showed her age at 96. She has made kettle corn at the Oconee Fall Festival
for years and years. For many years grandma would take truck loads of donations to the appalachian
mountains. Clothes, toys, supplies, whatever she and my grandpa could round up they made the trek to
the appalachians to help the people up there out. When my grandma was able she went to every mass

My Field Experiences At The International Newcomer Academy...
As I entered the doors of International Newcomers Academy (INA) for the first time, I can remember

One aspect of INA is the ingenious teaching approaches. Effective teaching requires a multifaceted
approach, this includes utilizing Jensen s seven critical factors. These factors include engagement,
repetition. input quantity, coherence, timing, error correction and emotional states. Each factor is
distinct in its function and implantation. There are numerous benefits to incorporating these seven
critical factors into lessons such as engagement will induce focus and gain the student s attention,
repetition will enable the students to preview, review, and revise the information, input quantity limits
the amount of information resulting in a deeper understanding, coherence builds off the student s
personal experiences and prior knowledge, timing provides for activity shifts and best suitable

Lord Brahm The Father Of Hindu Gods And God
Brahma, the father of Hindu gods and men, is depicted as the creator of the universe. He is the first
member of the Hindu Trinity and ruler of all. Brahma is acknowledged as the creator as he
periodically creates everything in the universe, periodically due to the Hindu cyclical belief of
everything being created for a certain period of time and destroyed only to be renewed in a new form
once again. Of the three greatest Hindu deities, Lord Brahma dominates the first position, that of the
creator. As creator of all things, Brahma must have people of his own flesh; the most significant one,
Goddess Saraswathy, consort and daughter of Brahma. Besides Saraswathy, there are four sages that
roam the universe as Brahma s first mind born creations and sons; Sanaka, Sanatana, Sananadana and
Sanatkumara. The four Kumaras were the only sons born out of Brahma s mind rather than his body
and were the only ones who refused his order to procreate, therefore devoted themselves to Vishnu
and celibacy. Brahma then went on to creating ten sons (Prajapatis) from his mind, who are
acknowledged as the fathers of the human race.
Lord Brahma s birth story is unique in its setting. He is said to have been born from Vishnu s navel

earth in the shape of a lotus escalating from his navel. It is believed that Brahma developed from this
lotus, therefore having the lotus symbolize his birth. Brahma then

The Evolving Automobile
The day in which cars can drive themselves has arrived and Brett Berk believes Californians should
embrace it. More specifically, he believes autonomous cars are vital for the senior population. In his
editorial entitled Self driving cars could keep seniors in the driver s seat, Berk discusses the
advantages of this new and emerging technology. Autonomous cars have been introduced only within
the last decade but their development has continuously advanced. The most current models are near
perfection and will soon be on the roads. Berk is a strong supporter of the driver less car, claiming that
the new technology will greatly benefit older Americans. Through the use of several rhetorical devices
Berk is able to successfully persuade the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His audience believes in independence and self reliance. He thus, suggests, that giving seniors the
opportunity to drive, even if incapacitated, would strengthen their pride and heighten their sense of
individualism. He describes a friend of his grandmother as having to give up her car and having to
move into an assisted living facility. This is meant to tug at the hearts of Californians. Not only does
such a place sound cold and heartless, it insinuates that residents cannot provide from themselves.
Having to depend on others is often seen as weak; Californians want to be self reliant they want to
strive and succeed on their own. Berk is hence able to instill both sorrow and fear into his readers. If
not sympathizing for the elderly who must now depend on others, the reader surely fears of being in
that same position in the future. Hence, he convinces the reader that the elderly need access to these
cars now, but also that the reader will need them in the future. Berk also uses a great amount of factual
evidence to persuade the reader that driver less cars would greatly benefit the elderly. He states,
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the collision rate for older drivers is among
the highest of any age group. Seniors, thus, pose a threat not only to themselves, but to others as well.
Therefore, it would benefit the elderly, as well as the rest of the population, to give seniors access to

Essay on Mise-en-scene in Citizen Kane and Persona
Mise en scene in Citizen Kane and Persona
Mise en scene is the principle by which a piece of film will derive its meaning wholly from what
happens in the single shot and not from the relationship between two shots. For example the director
might include shots with various composition, angle, depth, movement, and lighting.
Citizen Kane has many good examples to show Mise on scene usage. The scene that I believe is the
most significant and powerful mise en scene that I have this seen this semester exists in this movie.
This occurs when the parents of the young boy are speaking with a gentleman in the house. As the
people are speaking we see the boy playing in the snow as we look into the background through the
window. This scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The camera is moving many times as the three people who seem to be the focus of the scene are
moving. However, the real point of the shot lies with the boy in the background which is never not in
the shot. Another movie that had a great impact on me was Persona. There were many important
scenes in this film, but there was one example of mise en scene that sticks out in my mind. This is the
scene when the nurse is chasing the actress along the seashore. The actress is walking swiftly away
from her along rocks, while the nurse is trying her hardest to catch up to her. This scene comes
directly after the nurse yells at the mute actress and slaps her across the face. It seems the whole
movie she is trying to be nice to this woman and the one time that she stands up to her, she runs away.
The nurse is begging for forgiveness. This scene really proves how weak the nurse is emotionally and
mentally. She is sobbing and in a state of hysteria and the actress still will not forgive her. This reveals
a lot of the actress s persona too. It shows that she does not really care much for the nurse, even
though she is just trying to help her. The scene ends with the actress walking off and the nurse running
in the opposite direction towards the water. She stumbles and cries and then the scene is over. This
scene tells us, the audience a lot about the personality of both women not just in this scene but in their
lives. The nurse is a caring woman

Life Of Pi By Martel
HISTORY AND ORIGIN In Life of Pi by Martel, Martel uses the faith of Pi to show that initiation,
innocence resolutions and chaos are the core keys to having a true journey of a hero. Life of pi is set
during Indian history tumultuous period which is referred to as the Emergency. In 1975, Indira
Gandhi, prime minister was found charged and found guilty because of her election campaign of 1971
and was forced to resign (Anderson 20). Instead and in reaction to an increased protests and strikes

The African American Culture
Introduction
War, poverty, global tension and abuse has happen since the dawn of mankind, why does this trend
happen and still alive even to this day? The reason is because as people tend to be selfish, arrogant,
and try to be over others at any cost. This world is divided in sections due to believes and color, what
if the world no longer was like that? Could this be the solution to everything if humanity would look
beyond skin and location and more on how to help out? If so the first step towards this goal would be
educating the youth to look beyond color and to always aspire for greatness no matter their roots.

Even though Hispanics were viewed more highly than Blacks they were still treated poorly. They
worked for barely any pay for hours and their kids went to separate schools. After many court cases
such as the Delgado case Hispanic children were allowed to go to white schools, Cesar Chaves in the
other hand was able to increase wages for many field workers. Just like the African Americans,
Hispanics are bran new to the idea of education, thus many families still have their children working
at such an early age. The Hispanic culture is a rich culture, Hispanic families are close Knit and the
most important social unit (Hispanic culture). For this very reason Hispanics have a sense of
obligation to provide material and emotional support to members of nuclear and external family
(Hispanic Culture). How does this affect GPA you might wonder? Well because of this feeling of
obligation most younglings tend to work or else they are considered lazy or unproductive. Working
during school results in difficulty for getting school assignments done which make a student look bad,
in some cases students are forced to drop out to help the family out economically. This might seem
harmless to many, but the reality is this happens quite often, and sadly these young men/women will
have a family of their own and due to low education levels most will not have a stable fanatical life,
thus resulting in a constant cycle of low education levels between the Hispanic cultures. This is almost
becoming a norm to where students don t even try because they know that they will be forced to do
what their family does for a living to support fanatically stability. Even though this is not true for
every Hispanic, the reality is that this is a very real life event that happens so

Observing A Right Hip Fracture Repair
Operating Room Observation Experience This past week, I was able to observe a right hip fracture
repair. The patient had broken his hip and was undergoing surgery to place screws and plates into his
hip. I was able to see the whole process through the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative
stages. The preoperative stage is when the patient comes to the OR and is being prepped for the
surgery. The patient is verified by the nurse, who needs to check patient identification, patient records
and make sure is calm for the surgery. Before this particular surgery, the anesthesiologist came down
before the surgery to administer a block to the patient. The block is to dull the nerve ending so when
the patients comes out of surgery he will be in less pain. The consent form is signed by two people, the
patient and the doctor performing the surgery. The consent form is the responsibility of the doctor, the
nurse just verifies that both the doctor and the patient signed the form. It is very common for a patient
to be anxious right before a major surgery. My patient didn t seem anxious but just wanted it to be
over and done with. One of the most important part of a nurse s job is to keep the patient calm and
relaxed. That can be accomplished just by talking to them and reassuring them. Keeping the patient
company will also ease their nerves. The nurse makes sure the patient is calm and relaxed right before
surgery. It is also important for the holding area nurse to make sure

Argument On Poverty
The topic of poverty is America has been both a huge focus and a sore subject for many. There are
differing opinions on how to handle our growing population of people below the poverty line, with
some saying the solution is the good old pull yourself up by your bootstraps rhetoric to others saying
impoverished people have children and refuse to work just to get bigger checks from their states.
There is another argument, on that renders the bootstrap theory obsolete. A person s choices,
education, and circumstances may each, or in combination, explain why they are impoverished. This
alternative view proposes that the context of poverty alone, whether born into it or not, creates a
psychological trap. The argument states that if you are poor, you are always trying to juggle time and
money (Poverty and Inequality, 2014). Financial strain can lead to a mental tightrope. Constantly
having the instability that comes with no steady stream of income, as well as the worries of bills and
how to care for yourself and possibly your family can lead to a never ending cycle of never enough
time and never enough money. Homelessness is also on the rise, and with many states responses being
laws against sitting for long periods of time and aggressive panhandling. In addition to homelessness,
socioeconomic status is a major social determinant of health with poorer health outcomes for those of
low socioeconomic status (Poverty and Inequality, 2014). The community where people live is

The Importance of Non-Verbal Communication
Introduction
Non verbal communication has been a major factor contributing towards our day to day lives. In terms
of design and workplace as well as cultural variations non verbal communication plays an important
role in these places. It includes the usage of the human s subconscious mind to construct a series of
facial expressions, hand gestures as well as the usage of the human s vocal tones which indeed causes
a form of effective communication if used in the right manner. For example, when parents use non
verbal communication to infant children who are not yet familiar with verbal communication itself
when effective this might create a form of assurance to those infants who may in turn respond to the
message in a much positive manner. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meanwhile, Interpersonal communication deals with an exchange of communication between two or
more individuals. Non verbal communication is classified into three languages sign, action, and object
languages. (Wang,2009) And these languages can cause a greater effect on interpersonal if utilized in
both ways. The zoning of individuals also do affect the form of interpersonal communication used for
example intimate, personal, social and public zones. These form of distance based can be of much
significance. According to Wang s research the nearer the person the more open the person is in terms
of communication such as his ability to transfer secret messages are much improved if he s close to
another individual or a group of people than of he s on a much longer distance. Interpersonal
communication plays a great deal in our lives especially when it comes to workforce planning
therefore it is important for us to assume that if humans are more expert in the field of non verbal
communication we would actually get better results especially with interpersonal communication.
Conclusion
Communication has been a major player in our lives that it somehow became a globalized
phenomenon. An effective communication leads to better results when talking with people colleagues
and therefore this change of communication is leading the world to change their way of thinking. In
my opinion, I

My Letter About My Dear Mi Hur
My dear Mi hur, It is wonderful beyond words to hear from you after this hiatus, though I wish it had

essentially rhetorical; that you do not expect replies. As a matter of fact, though, I do know what has

Differences Between Osmosis And Corn Syrup
Did the egg permeate the corn syrup (hypertonic solution) or the water (hypotonic solution)? First,
using the triple beam balance we measured the mass of our egg which was 65 grams. Then, we put the
egg in a 200ml of vinegar to completely take the outer shell off. The next day, after rinsing the egg,
using a beaker we poured 200 ml of corn syrup into the beaker. Then put our egg into the beaker and
let it sit for 24 hours. After the 24 hours, the egg has shriveled and has gone down to 48 grams. On day
3, we poured 200 ML of water into the beaker then placed the egg into the water. the next day, the
mass of the egg went above the original mass of the egg at 96 grams. The egg permeated the water
because of osmosis and it s density.

The third strategy, focus is when a firm chooses a narrow segment within its industry and tailors its
offerings (strategy) to that segment (Porter, 1980). Focus strategies involve achieving cost leadership
or differentiation within niche markets in ways that are not available to more broadly focused players.
Finally, Porter labels firms that follow each generic strategy, but do not achieve any of them as stuck
in the middle . Porter asserted that the three strategies were distinct mutually exclusive alternatives.
He argued that firms may be able to successfully pursue more than one of these strategies
simultaneously, but this is rarely possible. (Porter, 1980: 35). A firm which failed to follow one of the
strategies was stuck in the middle, which guaranteed the firm low profitability. This objective of this
paper is to thoroughly explain the three generic competitive strategies as presented by porter. The
paper further analyses the competitive strategy of apple Inc and the application of porter s generic
competitive strategy before drawing vital conclusions on the subject. 2.0 Porter s three Generic

Dubliners By James Joyce s Dubliners
In James Joyce s Dubliners, the reader experiences the different lives of Dublin s inhabitants. Each
Dubliner has different problems, fears, hopes, and dreams, which allows culminates into many
different perspectives. Joyce masterfully writes the daily lives of these people without any
romanticism. The Dubliners stories are a small snippet into their full lives, while the reader does not
get the full story, he does not need to. Not much may seem to happen in the stories, but profound
themes and messages are hidden beneath the words. In the story An Encounter, a group of boys
imagine they are in the Wild West, while staging mock battles of cowboys vs. Indians. The story
includes many encounters that present themselves as ordinary; however this is far from true. In fact,
the story is largely commentating on often mocking Irish religious life and escapism. In the beginning
of the story one of the boys, Leo Dillon, is scolded by Father Butler for reading The Half Penny
Marvel. Father Butler considers the comic as nonsense and tells Leo that his Roman History is far
more cultured and important (Joyce 12). A religious figure like Father Butler is common among Joyce
s works, as he has always shown contempt for religion. In a sense, Father Butler creates structure for
the boys, but it is monotonous and rigid. Clearly Father Butler does not approve of Leo s fascinations
for the Wild West so he condemns him. The lack of support for imagination or freedom is snuffed out

Buddhist religion. Some of the idealistic beliefs they hold and the actions they do in order achieve
those beliefs. I never thought I would go because I did not know much about approaching. This

I grew up with two different religious views but they both had similar views. I wanted to see how

nirvana. A state where they find peace. Although, the religion is also in Vietnamese language. There
could be a different view. I chose this community because religion has been a complicate thing to me.

The Time Of Butterflies By Julia Alvarez
We cannot be sure of having something to live for unless we are willing to die for it. This quote by
Revolutionary Che Guevara is quintessential of the mindset of the Mirabal sisters, as well as the
Dominican people. The year is 1930 and Trujillo has been declared president of the Dominican
Republic, after running a secret campaign of torture and political maneuvering to rig the election the
dictatorship has now begun. Throughout the following years, a shadow of fear and distrust would
overtake the fatherland, as corruption and torture by government officials became a norm in
Dominican society. It was because of this that the Mariposas otherwise known as the Mirabal sisters
rose to the occasion to fight for the rights of their people. The Mirabal sisters were four real life
women who carried out clandestine activities against the Trujillo regime; whose lives are chronicled in
Julia Alvarez s novel. In the novel In the Time of Butterflies, the Mirabal sisters symbolize the
courage of the Dominican people in overcoming barriers and prejudice while being subjected to the
political despotism of Rafael Trujillo s tyrannical regime. From 1930 to 1961, Rafael Trujillo ruled the
Dominican Republic by way of fear. The Dominican people feared for their lives, as well as the lives
of their family and friends. To speak out against Trujillo meant either torture or immediate death.
Trujillo s presence is felt from afar, as an overwhelming shadow controlling and

3. Characteristics of Maghazi literature: 3.1 Presentation: The three compilers used the isnad as a
presentational mechanism to introduce their accounts just as it is used in the Sirah literature. Musa b.
Uqba used the collective isnad in his writings, where he mentioned a couple of the latest authorities
and hid the full isnad of the account; he also introduced some accounts by the phrase Musa b. Uqba
said, from al Zuhari..., as Kritzeck (1975) affirms. Ibn Ishaq, in his writings about maghazi, rarely
completed his isnad, and in many times he just chose to neglect to refer to any authority; for instance,
he introduced some of the accounts by saying: One whom I do not trust related to me.... This
technique of using the collective isnad in the case of Musa b. Uqba or hiding some of it or sometimes
all of it in the case of Ibn Ishaq raises many questions concerning the authenticity of the Maghazi
literature. On the other hand, Kritzeck (1975) states that al Waqidi used the methodology of collective
isnad as well but in a more systematic way. He used to introduce the account with a list of the
authorities then follow it with the statement: each of them related to me a portion of this, some being
more detailed in their accounts, and others have related to me also. I wrote down all that they related

It is also possible that a nonprofit hospital, especially in a large city, may be busier at any given time
than a for profit hospital. To get an idea of what a large city s nonprofit hospital is like, you can recall
the television show ER, which was set in a nonprofit hospital. By treating everyone regardless of
ability to pay, nonprofits provide a needed service (Writing, 2012). The IRS interprets this reasoning
in their rulings.
Another term often used with both not for profit and for profit hospitals is uncompensated hospital
care. With not for profit and for profit, revenues come from daily operations. What happens if a person
cannot afford the care in a not for profit hospital? Regardless of the type operation, hospitals must
stabilize the patient and transport to a public hospital, even though they are not required to treat these
patients. This uncompensated care is classified as uncompensated care, bad debt, or charity care. For
profit hospitals write off this bad debt and use these figures to offset their profits and to assist in
developing their costs to Medicare and Medicaid programs.
Public not for profit hospitals are dependent upon tax based support for their government sponsors and
from patient revenues. Capital budgeting can be financed through government bonds that must be
voted upon during elections. Under these circumstances, it is difficult to maintain current equipment

A Comparison Of Plato, Dover, And Plato

Plato, Dover, and Plato The response I ve chosen to expand and challenge is number four, partly
because its the only one I ve completed and in another part due to the incredibly complex subject
matter. Response four asks us to pick apart the characteristics K.Dover attributes to homosexuality in
classical Athens in comparison to Plato s definitions in Symposium. I discovered that both articles
weren t defining the same things; while Dover was speaking about the literal act, Plato touches on the
more philosophical aspects of the acts the moral implications. I m going to focus and expand on the
specific aspect of domination in sexual relationships by bringing in the complicated, and flippant,
context of The Republic s Book 5 also by Plato. I believe that this text can add a competing idea, the
ideal city containing equality, complicating the hierarchy and bringing in a more wholistic view of the
ideals. In his text Greek Homosexuality, Dover describes the roles of the active and passive lover,
defined by the age of the men. The older erastes, who is considered the dominant lover, and the
younger eromenos, as the passive beloved. This demonstrates the hierarchy that is established between
homosexual lovers (Dover 16). After the eromenos reaches a stage in his life where he becomes a
man, his role is then switched to the erastes, giving him the ability to look for his own eromenos. If a

Tang Dynasty Research Paper
The Tang Dynasty was the most successful Chinese dynasty because of its incredible government,
enjoyable daily life, and amazing inventions and accomplishments. The Tang Dynasty was the most
successful dynasty because it had amazing emperors and government. The dynasty started in 618 CE
The second emperor, Taizong, reformed the military and expanded the empire to stretch over Tibet,
Eastern Turkey, and Inner Mongolia. He used forced labor and taxes less, and allowed people to
practice many different religions such as Christianity and Buddhism. However, towards his decline, he
became power hungry and ignored his duties. Taizong then ordered many extravagant things to be
built, such as a palace that took two million days to be built, which he took down because the climate
around it was too hot and the palace was too grand. When he finally passed on, he gave the duty of
being the emperor to his ninth son, Gaozong. Gaozong then became the third emperor of the dynasty.
Gaozong soon married Lady Wang. He soon saw Wu Zetian in a temple and made her his concubine.
Wu Zetian then rose to power after allegedly murdering her daughter and accusing Lady Wang of
doing so, which caused Gaozong to divorce her. Even now, nobody truly knows who killed her
daughter. Then, she connected Lady Xiao, who was Gaozong s former first concubine, to the crime
and got her exiled, which was how Wu rose to power as empress. Later in 660 CE, she unofficially

Father Vs. Son Rivalry In Finding Nemo
One of the bigger conflicts in the play is the battle rivalry between the king and the prince. Which is
similar to struggle of Uranus vs. Saturn or Saturn vs. Jupiter in ancient mythology. This struggle is a
prime example of the rivalry of the values of a father figure and the values of a son. Father versus son
conflict are evident in many different people s lives and many families in today s world. Think about
every teenage guy with their dad s, they constantly butt heads and have conflicting ideas. The teenager

Their is the one of the older son where he does not want to move away from his childhood home to a

to him moving away, so the oldest son blames his father for this and eventually runs away to try to
reconcile with his ex girlfriend. The father and son reconcile though, and never argue again. Unlike in
the play where the King and the Prince reconcile, then they eventually end up in conflict and
opposition again. Another example of father versus son conflict is one of the other boys as he strives
for his dad s attention, yet his dad constantly ignores him and he finally thinks its enough and runs
away from his family. This is alot different than the play because in the play his the Prince s family
does not try to save the Prince where as in the movie the whole family searches for the younger
brother of the family. These two forms of entertainments are very different and yet have certain
similarities for example the key father versus son conflict, while the difference between the two is that
one the conflict is resolved, while in the other the conflict is resolved for a brief part of the plot, but is
soon reignited by the Prince s fulfillment of the prophecy which

i.e. directions around the airport, prices of products or check in times, that would tell us that our staff
are unequipped to help our customers.
From this, we will then need to realise and work our a way to get more information into our staff in
order to meet the needs of our customers more efficiently.
This can be done in many ways, however the most ideal one for this situation would be to hold regular
morning/afternoon meetings to keep staff updated with information.
When we exceed customer expectations, we like to go that extra mile by giving out customers more in
depth information. An example of this would be when a customer asks simply the time of their flight,
we like to make sure that our staff will fully inform our customers of their flight time, boarding time,
gate number and if there will be any delays.
At the Martime Museum (NMM) they meet and exceed

Analysis Of The Poem Giant Dreams, Midget Abilities By...
Expository Essay Analysis: Giant Dreams, Midget Abilities
David Sedaris is a popular comedic autobiographer who delivers intelligent and slightly embellished
satirical content inspired from his memoirs and personal experiences. Sedaris s short story Giant
Dreams, Midget Abilities , is a magnificent mastery of his humorous writing style. The story is about
David s experience of him and his sisters being forced to take music lessons because of their father s
maniacal obsession to start a family jazz band. David eventually finds himself taking guitar lessons
with the unique individual, Mr. Mancini, a midget. David and his teacher have a unique dialogue and
references towards his guitar, which makes David feel like an outsider and uncomfortable, keeping
secret screwball thoughts to himself. His guitar teacher s disdain for him coupled with lack passion
and interest ended his brief uninterested flings with the guitar regardless of how his father felt. People
will honor an individual s interest if the person means that much to them, however, there is always an
end to the humor if the interest is not reciprocated. Sometimes an obliged imposition can create
situations that make the imposed feel like an outsider in their own way. Personal interest and identity
may not be the standard or acceptable in the positions they were forced into therefore, as a response, a
superficial persona is created to camouflage true feelings. If the passion for a subject is nonexistent to
someone,

The history of Japanese painting is a long history of synthesis and competition between native
Japanese aesthetics and adaptation of imported ideas. Korean painting, as an independent form, began
around 108 B.C., around the fall of Gojoseon, making it one of the oldest in the world. The artwork of
that time period evolved into the various styles that characterized the Three Kingdoms of Korea
period, most notably the paintings and frescoes that adorn the tombs of Goguryeo s royalty. During the
Three Kingdoms period and through the Goryeo dynasty, Korean painting was characterized primarily
by a combination of Korean style landscapes, facial features, Buddhist centered themes,

Further information: History of Chinese art, Tang dynasty art and Ming Dynasty painting
Spring Morning in the Han Palace, by Ming era artist Qiu Ying (1494 1552 AD)
The earliest surviving examples of Chinese painted artwork date to the Warring States Period (481 221
BC), with paintings on silk or tomb murals on rock, brick, or stone. They were often in simplistic
stylized format and in more or less rudimentary geometric patterns. They often depicted mythological
creatures, domestic scenes, labor scenes, or palatial scenes filled with officials at court. Artwork
during this period and the subsequent Qin Dynasty (221 207 BC) and Han Dynasty (202 BC 220 AD)
was made not as a means in and of itself or for higher personal expression; rather artwork was

Since the implementation of the CYWRT in 2008, there have been notable improvements in relation to
the FRC achieving schooling obligations of 100% school attendance and increased boarding school

school is a campus of the Cape York Aboriginal Australian Academy (CYAAA), which has only been

Sequoia National Park Conservation
Will most special places in America constantly be beautiful and sacred? There is one thing positive
that the nature cannot be frozen in time, it will continue to innovate and develop. The national parks
protect the best of our natural heritage: stunning landscapes, extraordinary wildlife, and majestic
forests. However, a climate change forces us to accept that those national parks are endangered and
need to be protected. Warming temperature has become the nation s superior issue that impacted the
balance of the animals and their habitats in the national parks. Over centuries, without the cooperation
of the community, it will not be possible to achieve the preservation of the national park system.
The parks have attained international conservation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Understanding of adaptive capacity and regional vulnerability to climate change on forests is not well
developed and requires more focused research efforts. They acknowledged the reality of human
caused climate change was a political act, and the Park Service doesn t discuss politics with its
visitors. Mankind activities have damaged dreadfully to the resources and polluted the environment.
Therefore, it becomes a threat to the nature and effects the climate in the parks. Increasing drought and
disturbance risks will cause adverse effects on the nature itself. These negative impacts are very likely
to outweigh positive trends in these national parks. Park managers began setting controlled fires in
forests where natural wildfires had long been suppressed; they reintroduced species that had vanished,
such as wolves and bighorn sheep. The ecologist and park manager have tried many ways to get the
nature under control and change it the scientific way. They want to avoid the significant impact of
natural disaster that caused damages on animal and habitats. They ignored the fact that nature itself,
left to its own devices, does not tend toward a steady, state landscapes and ecosystems are always
being changed by storms or

Whale Rider Character Analysis
Throughout Whale Rider Paikea is expected to listen to what her grandpa tells her to do and say.
Personally, Paikea feels conflicted and under pressure to stick to her grandpas rules, as she wants to go
her own way. Her grandpa finds it hard to see Paikea as her own person and can t accept modernity,
which he is not used to. He also stops her from learning the ways of a Maori chief, which is something
she still tries to do in secret with the help of the rest of her family. Koro sometimes fails to see what
Paikea can do, as he feels very strongly about old traditions, but other times he sees what she can do
and fails to appreciate it. Paikea just wants to be loved and accepted by her grandfather and her strong
sense of leadership and determination to get that from him leaves her as a role model to others to be
brave and to never stop until they get what they want.
Koro feels the need to stick to old traditions and rules but is not willing to try new things and to
change. Change is something that is new for Koro, as he has been so used to doing the same thing all
his life, but Paikea and what she does challenges Koro to get outside his comfort zone. Koro has been
used to and believes in a traditional and patriarchal society with everyone in their particular place.
This is why when Paikea starts to show the true qualities of a chief, and in his words Doesn t obtain to
her role, he is blinded and ignores them as he is so focused on what he is used to. While Paikea is
asking Koro about her ancestors, Koro says Each one of those threads, is one of your ancestors, all
joined together and strong. But then the rope breaks, which symbolises either a wave of change
coming through or old traditions being broken and new ones being started, either way, Paikea will be
the one to put the rope back together again, as in that scene she fixes the rope to get the engine started.
Paikea is trying to learn the ways of a leader and a chief but Koro keeps shutting her off and getting
mad whenever she does. He would always say, She is no good to me. Even when Paikea is learning to
spar with the fighting sticks, Koro immediately yells at her and scolds her. All of these put downs and
constant public humiliations by her

Bexar County Emergency Management
In today s world, emergencies of all types occur frequently. They include floods, hurricanes,
earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis, infectious diseases, wildfires, anthrax threats, riots and civil
disturbance, and terrorism, to name a few. There must be plans already in place to deal with the
potential hazards and detriments of these emergencies. Preparedness in the field of emergency
management is defined as a state of readiness to respond to a disaster, crisis, or any other type of
emergency situation (FEMA, 2016). There are five phases of emergency management: prevention,
preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation (Bexar County Emergency Management, n.d.).
Prevention is the first phase of emergency management. While not all disasters can be prevented,
preventive measures are designed to provide more permanent protection from disasters. Well
organization evacuation plans, environmental planning, and design standards can all help lessen the
loss of life and injuries (Bexar County, n.d.). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is vital for officials from all levels of emergency management to collaborate and communicate
effectively as they strive to deliver timely response services and effective disaster relief efforts.
Otherwise, delays can occur from any number of agencies when responding to disasters. In addition, it
is vital to maintain updated contact information for each organization that will be part of the
emergency management planning and hold regular meetings with the representatives of each
organization (Margaris,

The New Colossus Immigration
Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, are a few of Emma
Lazarus words that are forever inscribed on one of the nation s most beloved monuments in New York
City, the Statue of Liberty (The New Colossus by Emma Lazarus). This poem defines the nation for its
longstanding relationship with refugees, yet, the issue has created controversy throughout the years,
specifically during the recent presidential election. Many believe immigrants and refugees have no
right to live in the United States, while others yield completely different, polarized opinions.
Personally, I believe that the United States should not enforce extreme restrictions on immigrants who
desire freedom in the form of fleeing to this country. Those who oppose this claim believe immigrants
will debilitate the economy, enter the country illegally, and potentially harm Americans. However,
these individuals do not take into account how America was built in the first place, how to effectively
strengthen the nation s borders, and the factual data that proves the majority of immigrants do not
threaten the safety of Americans.
First and foremost, the foundation of America was undoubtedly built by the hands of refugees when
the Puritans fled England in an attempt to escape religious persecution by Queen Mary I. Ever ...

Troops From Afghanistan Exiting Afghanistan Austin Schmidt American Government Mr. Pankow November 18, 2014 Over the years there s been a lot of controversy over the fact that U.S. troops are currently residing in Afghanistan and have been there since 2001. Many are wondering why we re still there and why haven t we left yet. Others want to know the positive outcomes of the roughly thirteen years that our troops have been there. Are we doing the right thing by being there? Background information about the War in Afghanistan is absolutely necessary in order to discuss the withdrawal of United States troops from Afghanistan. Shortly after the Republic of Afghanistan was set up by Mohammed Daoud Khan, the Afghanistan s presidential palace was attacked by a section of the communist People s Democratic Party of Afghanistan called the Khalq faction. Mohammed Daoud Khan was killed and his government overthrown in the process of this revolution called the Saur Revolution. A man named Nur Muhammad Taraki takes control of the new government that came into power after the Saur Revolution, and he set up a Marxist Government. His government s goal was to industrialize Afghanistan and provide full equality for women. This enraged fundamentalists deeply, but Taraki carried on with his plans. On December 5th of 1978, Taraki signed the 20 Year Treaty of Friendship with the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics(USSR). This treaty was developed for a few reasons. One, to strengthen the internal strength of Taraki s party, and Afghanistan s international security and presence. Two, the Soviets agreed to undertake helping Taraki improve Afghanistan s social and economic achievement. Third, to increase the defensive capabilities of both nations. Finally, to declare a twenty year unshakable friendship between the two parties. On January 1st, 1979, Taraki began internal land reforms in Afghanistan that upset many long holding Afghani families. This reform limited them to the amount of land they could own, which was dependent on the quality of the land . Any ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Machiavelli And Socrates Although both are considered some of the greatest political and philosophical thinkers of their respective times, Socrates and Niccoló Machiavelli had very different methods and beliefs of how a political system should be run. The mindset of Socrates can be seen in the works Apology and Crito by Plato. Socrates, who values wisdom and justice over power and prestige, would view Machiavelli s concept of a Prince very contradicting to how he believes a good life should be lived. In his work, The Prince, Machiavelli details how a prince should rule and maintain power. Socrates would not be supportive of Machiavelli and his Prince s political system because it is rooted in unethical behaviors. Machiavelli views these actions as virtues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To Machiavelli, the true virtues of a prince should be stinginess, cruelty, and manipulation. He takes traditional Christian virtues, which most see as good, and criticizes them, saying they are vices and hurtful to a prince. Socrates ideal Prince is much different than that of Machiavelli. Socrates found great power in his analysis of Athens, rather than direct involvement. Through questioning, reason, and critical analysis he attempts to instill wisdom, truth and virtue in Athens, specifically in the youth. He was charged with corrupting the youth because his idea of how life should be lived was much different than that of the states. Socrates corrupted the youth of Athens because he degenerated or undeveloped them from becoming strong political, economic, and military leaders. The people of Athens, in particular the wealthy and powerful, wanted their children to be educated in ideals that Machiavelli would support. It was the job for these privileged youth to learn how to be strong leaders so the city could run smoothly in the future and Socrates was undermining this structure. If the youth Socrates was teaching were treated as a counterpart to Machiavelli s Prince, a difference in ideals and teachings can be found. Machiavelli teaches his Prince how to maintain power at all costs, while Socrates teaches his students to put aside the concept of materialistic power such as wealth and ... Workplace Benefits of Health and Fitness Programs Furthermore, fitness programs can benefit companies far beyond a spending stand point. There are many benefits of incorporating fitness into your daily routine, and some people are unaware of the impact it can have on every aspect of their life. Making health and fitness a priority in your life can result in dramatic change. Creating a healthy lifestyle through fitness and nutrition programs and then following through on those programs with self assessment practices and goal setting techniques can significantly decrease self defeating behaviors not only in the workplace, but in day to day life as well. In addition, Memphis is among one of the most overweight cities in America, making it crucial that we emphasize health and fitness in our businesses locally (Men s Fitness, 2014). Being overweight causes a number of health issues such as high cholesterol, heart disease, and diabetes. This can cause employees to miss work, drive up health care costs, and not be as productive when they are at work. In addition, health and fitness programs can help employees who already have health problems return to work sooner. For example, employees who have been diagnosed with heart disease and who participate in an exercise program have returned to work much quicker, and in addition, the death rate has also been cut down twenty to twenty five percent when employees engage in fitness routines (Meyers, 2003). Therefore, beginning a fitness program can not only significantly decrease the chances of someone obtaining one of these diseases, but can also decrease the amount of work they may miss due to these illnesses; henceforth, increasing the overall health of the workplace, productivity, and employee efficiency (Meyers, 2003). Making a fitness program also has a great impact on team environments. Fitness programs will lead to better morale, a more positive workplace, and an environment that will be more productive for all employees and team members. Heathers is an American cult black comedy film written by Daniel Waters and directed by Michael Lehmann. The film portrays four teenage girls three of whom are named Heather in a clique and a teen named Veronica Sawyer who desperately wants to fit in, as well as a crazy and unstable boy named J.D that plans to ruin it all. The focus of this essay will be on three characters. Analyzing their internal and external battles, as well as their social interactions with loved ones and other members of their fictional society. To begin, I will focus on Veronica Sawyer. Out of the entire movie Veronica has the most stable family. Born as an only child, her mom and dad were active and involved parents. Veronica attended an Ohio high school where she met the heathers . The heathers were three extremely popular teens that ran the school and Veronica wanted nothing more than to be like them. Regardless of the letter Hamilton uses as evidence, the grasshopper invasions had dramatic effects of the residents of Manitoba. Mennonites, who recently immigrated to the province, had major crop failures due to grasshoppers and frosts which caused them to rely on governmental loans. Iraq claimed that Kuwait was a long time province from the 1800 s and early 1900s , whose lands belonged under control of Iraq, a so called province. Saddam Hussein also argued that Kuwait was pumping oil from an oil field that was on the border of the two countries and belonged to Iraq. Upon gaining control of Kuwait, Hussein was able to eliminate his previous debt to Kuwait and gain it s substantial oil wealth, roughly 10% of the worlds oil supply. So far Bush has followed through on his promise with the war in Afghanistan against the Taliban regime. Others are also displaying their understanding of the situation and are treading a great deal lighter in search of their causes to avoid being labeled as terrorists, as shown by the latest disarmament and return to the negotiating table by the Irish Republican Army. One product will have a high content of something good and another will have low content in something bad. When it is time to consider what we put in our bodies we have ample opportunity to weight the pros and cons of various products. According to the Nielsen Global Survey in 2011 sixty percent of the population doesn t not understand the mandatory nutritional code in order to properly identify the ingredients they are considering ingesting. Alarmingly, this statistic is that the nutrition label and the ingredients list are the only true allies a consumer has when determining what we should be eating. Only they tell the full story of what the food we are consuming is comprised of. For this assignment I was asked to first select two pairs of similar food products from the supermarket and then secondly compare them, while critically evaluating both their food labels and ingredients. I chose to compare coconut milk against 2% dairy milk and rolled oats versus steel cut oats. I am going to address the following comparisons in the body of my essay: the nutrition facts table, serving sizes, price, ingredients, product claims, percentage of daily value (%DV), whether they are part of a healthy eating plan, and lastly whether their labeling is clear and concise. We all have different people we see as mentors. Whether in sports, education, life, and in this case faith. For my faith mentor I look up to my grandma Kuhn. I see her as the exact definition of mentor. The family she has raised and started is very big with many, many grandkids and great grandkids. She and my grandpa are the roots to the very large Kuhn family. She has been through hard times and good. Through all she has kept her faith. This is why I chose her. Through thick and thin she has remained a devoted catholic and always kept true to her ways. My grandma has always showed faith by her actions. However as quickly as my field experiences began I could feel my perceptions changing. The experiences I had at INA have left their mark on me and I am truly grateful for having the opportunity to complete my field experiences at the International Newcomer Academy. These factors include engagement, repetition. input quantity, coherence, timing, error correction and emotional states. Each factor is distinct in its function and implantation. There are numerous benefits to incorporating these seven critical factors into lessons such as engagement will induce focus and gain the student s attention, repetition will enable the students to preview, review, and revise the information, input quantity limits the amount of information resulting in a deeper understanding, coherence builds off the student s personal experiences and prior knowledge, timing provides for activity shifts and best suitable scheduling, error correction reinforces the lesson through quality feedback, and emotional states evokes fundamental emotions to initiate self reliance and ... • 21. Lord Brahm The Father Of Hindu Gods And God Brahma, the father of Hindu gods and men, is depicted as the creator of the universe. He is the first member of the Hindu Trinity and ruler of all. Brahma is acknowledged as the creator as he periodically creates everything in the universe, periodically due to the Hindu cyclical belief of everything being created for a certain period of time and destroyed only to be renewed in a new form once again. Of the three greatest Hindu deities, Lord Brahma dominates the first position, that of the creator. As creator of all things, Brahma must have people of his own flesh; the most significant one, Goddess Saraswathy, consort and daughter of Brahma. Besides Saraswathy, there are four sages that roam the universe as Brahma s first mind born creations and sons; Sanaka, Sanatana, Sananadana and Sanatkumara. The four Kumaras were the only sons born out of Brahma s mind rather than his body and were the only ones who refused his order to procreate, therefore devoted themselves to Vishnu and celibacy. Brahma then went on to creating ten sons (Prajapatis) from his mind, who are acknowledged as the fathers of the human race. Lord Brahma s birth story is unique in its setting. He is said to have been born from Vishnu s navel through the lotus flower. After the great flood, Vishnu summoned his creative powers and formed earth in the shape of a lotus escalating from his navel. Not only does such a place sound cold and heartless, it insinuates that residents cannot provide from themselves. Essay on Mise-en-scene in Citizen Kane and Persona Mise en scene in Citizen Kane and Persona Mise en scene is the principle by which a piece of film will derive its meaning wholly from what happens in the single shot and not from the relationship between two shots. For example the director might include shots with various composition, angle, depth, movement, and lighting. Citizen Kane has many good examples to show Mise on scene usage. The scene that I believe is the most significant and powerful mise en scene that I have this seen this semester exists in this movie. There were many important scenes in this film, but there was one example of mise en scene that sticks out in my mind. This is the scene when the nurse is chasing the actress along the seashore. The actress is walking swiftly away from her along rocks, while the nurse is trying her hardest to catch up to her. This scene comes directly after the nurse yells at the mute actress and slaps her across the face. It seems the whole movie she is trying to be nice to this woman and the one time that she stands up to her, she runs away. The nurse is begging for forgiveness. This scene really proves how weak the nurse is emotionally and mentally. She is sobbing and in a state of hysteria and the actress still will not forgive her. This reveals a lot of the actress s persona too. It shows that she does not really care much for the nurse, even though she is just trying to help her. The scene ends with the actress walking off and the nurse running in the opposite direction towards the water. She stumbles and cries and then the scene is over. This scene tells us, the audience a lot about the personality of both women not just in this scene but in their lives. The nurse is a caring woman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Just like the African Americans, Hispanics are bran new to the idea of education, thus many families still have their children working at such an early age. The Hispanic culture is a rich culture, Hispanic families are close Knit and the most important social unit (Hispanic culture). For this very reason Hispanics have a sense of obligation to provide material and emotional support to members of nuclear and external family (Hispanic Culture). This might seem harmless to many, but the reality is this happens quite often, and sadly these young men/women will have a family of their own and due to low education levels most will not have a stable fanatical life, thus resulting in a constant cycle of low education levels between the Hispanic cultures. The patient had broken his hip and was undergoing surgery to place screws and plates into his hip. I was able to see the whole process through the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative stages. The preoperative stage is when the patient comes to the OR and is being prepped for the surgery. The patient is verified by the nurse, who needs to check patient identification, patient records and make sure is calm for the surgery. Before this particular surgery, the anesthesiologist came down before the surgery to administer a block to the patient. The block is to dull the nerve ending so when the patients comes out of surgery he will be in less pain. The consent form is signed by two people, the patient and the doctor performing the surgery. The consent form is the responsibility of the doctor, the nurse just verifies that both the doctor and the patient signed the form. One of the most important part of a nurse s job is to keep the patient calm and relaxed. That can be accomplished just by talking to them and reassuring them. There are differing opinions on how to handle our growing population of people below the poverty line, with some saying the solution is the good old pull yourself up by your bootstraps rhetoric to others saying impoverished people have children and refuse to work just to get bigger checks from their states. There is another argument, on that renders the bootstrap theory obsolete. A person s choices, education, and circumstances may each, or in combination, explain why they are impoverished. This alternative view proposes that the context of poverty alone, whether born into it or not, creates a psychological trap. The argument states that if you are poor, you are always trying to juggle time and money (Poverty and Inequality, 2014). Financial strain can lead to a mental tightrope. Constantly having the instability that comes with no steady stream of income, as well as the worries of bills and how to care for yourself and possibly your family can lead to a never ending cycle of never enough time and never enough money. The Dubliners stories are a small snippet into their full lives, while the reader does not get the full story, he does not need to. Not much may seem to happen in the stories, but profound themes and messages are hidden beneath the words. In the beginning of the story one of the boys, Leo Dillon, is scolded by Father Butler for reading The Half Penny Marvel. Father Butler considers the comic as nonsense and tells Leo that his Roman History is far more cultured and important (Joyce 12). I m going to focus and expand on the specific aspect of domination in sexual relationships by bringing in the complicated, and flippant, context of The Republic s Book 5 also by Plato. I believe that this text can add a competing idea, the ideal city containing equality, complicating the hierarchy and bringing in a more wholistic view of the ideals. In his text Greek Homosexuality, Dover describes the roles of the active and passive lover, defined by the age of the men. The older erastes, who is considered the dominant lover, and the younger eromenos, as the passive beloved. This demonstrates the hierarchy that is established between homosexual lovers (Dover 16). After the eromenos reaches a stage in his life where he becomes a man, his role is then switched to the erastes, giving him the ability to look for his own eromenos. If a boy ... • 40. Tang Dynasty Research Paper The Tang Dynasty was the most successful Chinese dynasty because of its incredible government, enjoyable daily life, and amazing inventions and accomplishments. The Tang Dynasty was the most successful dynasty because it had amazing emperors and government. The dynasty started in 618 CE The second emperor, Taizong, reformed the military and expanded the empire to stretch over Tibet, Eastern Turkey, and Inner Mongolia. He used forced labor and taxes less, and allowed people to practice many different religions such as Christianity and Buddhism. However, towards his decline, he became power hungry and ignored his duties. Taizong then ordered many extravagant things to be built, such as a palace that took two million days to be built, which he took down because the climate around it was too hot and the palace was too grand. When he finally passed on, he gave the duty of being the emperor to his ninth son, Gaozong. Gaozong then became the third emperor of the dynasty. Gaozong soon married Lady Wang. He soon saw Wu Zetian in a temple and made her his concubine. Wu Zetian then rose to power after allegedly murdering her daughter and accusing Lady Wang of doing so, which caused Gaozong to divorce her. Even now, nobody truly knows who killed her daughter. Then, she connected Lady Xiao, who was Gaozong s former first concubine, to the crime and got her exiled, which was how Wu rose to power as empress. Later in 660 CE, she unofficially became emperor of China. Although she did not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Which is similar to struggle of Uranus vs. Saturn or Saturn vs. Jupiter in ancient mythology. This struggle is a prime example of the rivalry of the values of a father figure and the values of a son. Father versus son conflict are evident in many different people s lives and many families in today s world. Think about every teenage guy with their dad s, they constantly butt heads and have conflicting ideas. The teenager in their own minds think they are always right, while the Father who has life experience has his own ideas and is trying to develop their child into a successful adult and human being. Their is the one of the older son where he does not want to move away from his childhood home to a home in a suburb in closer to the city where his dad got a job at. His girlfriend breaks up with him due to him moving away, so the oldest son blames his father for this and eventually runs away to try to reconcile with his ex girlfriend. The father and son reconcile though, and never argue again. Unlike in the play where the King and the Prince reconcile, then they eventually end up in conflict and opposition again. Another example of father versus son conflict is one of the other boys as he strives for his dad s attention, yet his dad constantly ignores him and he finally thinks its enough and runs away from his family. This is alot different than the play because in the play his the Prince s family does not try to save the Prince where as in the movie the whole family searches for the younger brother of the family. These two forms of entertainments are very different and yet have certain similarities for example the key father versus son conflict, while the difference between the two is that one the conflict is resolved, while in the other the conflict is resolved for a brief part of the plot, but is soon reignited by the Prince s fulfillment of the prophecy which ... Here at Virgin Atlantic, we identify and meet customer needs through customer survey questionnaires/ comment cards and customer forums/focus groups. When the survey questionnaires or comment cards have been read by a member for our staff, usually the customer service manager, they then analyse all of the comments to find areas of improvement in order to meet customer needs. For example, if a number of customers have complained about staff not knowing obvious information i.e. directions around the airport, prices of products or check in times, that would tell us that our staff are unequipped to help our customers. From this, we will then need to realise and work our a way to get more information into our staff in order to meet the needs of our customers more efficiently. This can be done in many ways, however the most ideal one for this situation would be to hold regular morning/afternoon meetings to keep staff updated with information. When we exceed customer expectations, we like to go that extra mile by giving out customers more in depth information. An example of this would be when a customer asks simply the time of their flight, we like to make sure that our staff will fully inform our customers of their flight time, boarding time, gate number and if there will be any delays. • 44. Analysis Of The Poem Giant Dreams, Midget Abilities By... Expository Essay Analysis: Giant Dreams, Midget Abilities David Sedaris is a popular comedic autobiographer who delivers intelligent and slightly embellished satirical content inspired from his memoirs and personal experiences. Sedaris s short story Giant Dreams, Midget Abilities , is a magnificent mastery of his humorous writing style. The story is about David s experience of him and his sisters being forced to take music lessons because of their father s maniacal obsession to start a family jazz band. David eventually finds himself taking guitar lessons with the unique individual, Mr. Mancini, a midget. David and his teacher have a unique dialogue and references towards his guitar, which makes David feel like an outsider and uncomfortable, keeping secret screwball thoughts to himself. His guitar teacher s disdain for him coupled with lack passion and interest ended his brief uninterested flings with the guitar regardless of how his father felt. People will honor an individual s interest if the person means that much to them, however, there is always an end to the humor if the interest is not reciprocated. Sometimes an obliged imposition can create situations that make the imposed feel like an outsider in their own way. Personal interest and identity may not be the standard or acceptable in the positions they were forced into therefore, as a response, a superficial persona is created to camouflage true feelings. If the passion for a subject is nonexistent to someone, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Whale Rider Character Analysis Throughout Whale Rider Paikea is expected to listen to what her grandpa tells her to do and say. Personally, Paikea feels conflicted and under pressure to stick to her grandpas rules, as she wants to go her own way. Her grandpa finds it hard to see Paikea as her own person and can t accept modernity, which he is not used to. He also stops her from learning the ways of a Maori chief, which is something she still tries to do in secret with the help of the rest of her family. Koro sometimes fails to see what Paikea can do, as he feels very strongly about old traditions, but other times he sees what she can do and fails to appreciate it. Paikea just wants to be loved and accepted by her grandfather and her strong sense of leadership and determination to get that from him leaves her as a role model to others to be brave and to never stop until they get what they want. Koro feels the need to stick to old traditions and rules but is not willing to try new things and to change. Change is something that is new for Koro, as he has been so used to doing the same thing all his life, but Paikea and what she does challenges Koro to get outside his comfort zone. Koro has been used to and believes in a traditional and patriarchal society with everyone in their particular place. This is why when Paikea starts to show the true qualities of a chief, and in his words Doesn t obtain to her role, he is blinded and ignores them as he is so focused on what he is used to. While Paikea is asking Koro about her ancestors, Koro says Each one of those threads, is one of your ancestors, all joined together and strong. But then the rope breaks, which symbolises either a wave of change coming through or old traditions being broken and new ones being started, either way, Paikea will be the one to put the rope back together again, as in that scene she fixes the rope to get the engine started. Paikea is trying to learn the ways of a leader and a chief but Koro keeps shutting her off and getting mad whenever she does. He would always say, She is no good to me. The New Colossus Immigration Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, are a few of Emma Lazarus words that are forever inscribed on one of the nation s most beloved monuments in New York City, the Statue of Liberty (The New Colossus by Emma Lazarus). This poem defines the nation for its longstanding relationship with refugees, yet, the issue has created controversy throughout the years, specifically during the recent presidential election. Many believe immigrants and refugees have no right to live in the United States, while others yield completely different, polarized opinions. Personally, I believe that the United States should not enforce extreme restrictions on immigrants who desire freedom in the form of fleeing to this country. Those who oppose this claim believe immigrants will debilitate the economy, enter the country illegally, and potentially harm Americans. However, these individuals do not take into account how America was built in the first place, how to effectively strengthen the nation s borders, and the factual data that proves the majority of immigrants do not threaten the safety of Americans.
