Corruption Of Corruption
Introduction In a democratic system like India, the role played by the judiciary is of paramount
prominence. The judiciary, through its immaculate reasoning ability helps to keep a democracy
proficiently running, and this is perhaps one of the causes why the Independence of the judiciary is the
cornerstone of India s democracy. Transparency and accountability these are two fundamental words
which help in instituting a system of good governance in any country. Statistics and studies have
shown that where there exists a veil of secrecy, there exists corruption. And as depressing as it is, the
one body which adjudicates on corruption and lays down guidelines to prevent such corrupt activities
has been affected by corruption itself. The reason why the collegium system was criticized and the
government wanted to remove it was this very reason; it was injected and filled with corruption. The
collegium system had no room for transparency, thus it eventually led to activities of corruption and
nepotism taking place. Such acts of corruption, nepotism etc. would in the long run affect the judiciary
and the stability of the government. The NJAC Act was introduced in the light of these events to
overcome these issues and to provide a more dependable and stable mechanism to the appointment of
judges to the High Court and the Supreme Court of India. After the National Judicial Commission Bill
was introduced in the Lok Sabha on August 11, 2014 by the Hon ble Law minister Mr. Ravi

The Evil King in Shakespeare s Richard III Essay
The Evil King in Shakespeare s Richard III
Richard is an actor, a fully evil actor, who through his mastery of the stage has come to appreciate his
skill. Richard Moulton, in his Shakespeare as a Dramatic Thinker, proclaims Richard s wonder at his
own command of the stage: Richard has become an artist in evil: the natural emotions attending crime
whether of passionate longing, or horror and remorse have given place to artistic appreciation of
masterpieces (40). And Robert Weimann, comparing Richard Gloucester to a character in Shakespeare
s King John states: Both characters exemplify a strenuous need to perform, toiling desperately to play
a role, to find out, and, for better or worse, to take up arms against a thorny world ... Show more

Whether actual or a creation of Shakespeare, his deformity pushes him at least to some degree to
prove a villain. And Richard wastes no time jumping into his evil character, beginning his scheming as
soon as the curtain rises: Plots have I laid, inductions dangerous, / By drunken prophecies, libels and
dreams / To set my brother Clarence and the King / In deadly hate the one against the other (1.1.32 5).
The manipulation of the other characters of the play begins here in earnest. The initial role that
Richard plays is that of loving brother to Clarence, whom he must eliminate from the scene in order to
attain the throne for himself. When the king, out of fear of revolt, sends Clarence to the Tower,
Richard convinces him to go quietly and to patiently await rescue. Thus, the treacherous role playing
of Richard Gloucester begins: Your imprisonment shall not be long. / I will deliver you or lie for you. /
Meantime, have patience (1.1.115 7). This declaration of love and support is nothing but a show. As
soon as Clarence marches off to prison, Richard proclaims his true character: Go tread the path that
thou shalt ne er return. / Simple, plain Clarence, I do love thee so / That I will shortly send thy soul to
heaven, / If heaven will take the present at our hands (1.1.118 21). Righter eloquently speaks of
Richard s marvelous acting in this scene:

Predicting Performance Of Post Graduate Education From...
Predicting performance in post graduate education from admissions information comparisons of health
professions with pharmacy
Richard E Wilcox, PhD* and Kenneth A Lawson, PhD ABSTRACT
Objectives. The goal of the present review was to assess the state of performance prediction in health
care programs generally, versus performance in pharmacy schools, using didactic and non didactic
admissions measures. This is important because clinical success represents a combination of skills that
are not fully predicted by either type of measure alone.
Methods. PubMed searches were conducted focusing on work published from 2000 onwards, since it
is during this period that non didactic admissions measures have come to be incorporated into the
applicant evaluation process. Relevant papers that were available as free full text were used. When
these papers were not available by direct import into EndNote, we went directly to the journal to try to
retrieve the paper.
Results. Published literature clearly showed that prediction of performance in the didactic portions of
health care programs is straightforward when based on pre health care GPA and achievement test
scores. The best predictions are achieved when both measures are combined. While significant
statistical prediction is achieved in virtually every study, the percent of total performance variance
accounted for is also consistent and uniformly small in the order of 25%. Similarly, there is now an
emerging consensus that

Administering Inhaled High Concentration Oxygen to...
The practice of administering inhaled high concentration oxygen to patients suffering chest pain is
widespread, has been followed for about a century, and is advised in major textbooks of emergency
care, general medicine, and cardiology. There remains an expectation amongst the general public and
medical practitioners that oxygen simply forms part of the standard treatment of a sick patient
(Nicholson, 2004). A review of the evolution of supplemental oxygen therapy reveals that it is not
evidence based, and there is uncertainty about the benefits and safety. This paper will discuss the
different approaches of the use of high concentration oxygen therapy for the client with acute chest
pain, including previously conducted trials. The physiological benefits and harms, the variation in
international guidelines and the need for future research will also be analysed.
Chest pain is a common and often non specific symptom that can be caused by a number of
underlying conditions , one of the most serious being Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI), commonly
known as a heart attack (Chapman, Leslie, Sage, 2012, p. 12). High concentration oxygen therapy,
levels greater than 60%, has been advocated for the treatment of AMI and chest pain for nearly three
quarters of a century (Ranchord, Perrin, Weatherall, Beasley, Simmonds, 2012). As early as 1922,
Barach noted the beneficial effects of high concentration oxygen therapy, at levels of 80 100%, in
patients suffering from angina

Essay on Boethius and Plato s God
Plato was born in Athens, Greece around 427 B.C. He was always interested in politics, until he
witnessed his mentor and teacher, Socrates, death. After learning of the callousness of politics, Plato
changed his mind and eventually opened up The Academy, which is considered if not the first, one of
the first Universities. Students at the Academy studied many different fields of science, including
biological and astronomical. The students also studied many other fields, such as math. Plato
developed many views that were mathematical in nature. He expressed these views through his
writings. According to Dr. Calkins of Andrew University, Timaeus is probably the most renowned of
Plato s thirty five dialogues. [In it] Plato expresses that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Boethius was involved in a consulship for most of his life, and is probably most admired for the
translations he completed in his lifetime, which include, Porphyry s Introduction to the Categories of
Aristotle and probably Aristotle s Metaphysics, Physics, De Generatione et Corruptione, De Anima,
and Poetics (Watts 16). Boethius was imprisoned and then executed in 524 AD, while imprisoned and
before his execution he wrote his best known work, The Consolation of Philosophy. In relation to
Plato s Demiurge, Boethius, being a Christian worships God. Watts, in summarizing in part the The
Consolation of Philosophy, says, Philosophy descends to Boethius form on high (I, 3) and leads him
back through various paths to God Himself... and the realization that God is the supreme good...
(Watts 25).
In order to compare or contrast the two entities, the characteristics must be explained. In a 2005 Bryn
Mawr Classical Review of T.K. Johansen s Plato s Natural Philosophy: A Study of the Timaeus
Critias, they explicate the Demiurges existence by saying, . ..the existence of the demiurge as an
inference to the best explanation of the order and beauty of the cosmos. (Bryn Mawr 1).The Demiurge
is also classified as an external cause of order. This is connected with the orders of being and
becoming expressed in Plato s Timaeus.

As mention before, it is difficult for the players to achieved complete randomization on the moves.
Players will follow some sort of pattern, unconsciously, that the opponents might observe. Therefore,
they can observe the opponents strategy or action history or own payoff history. As a player, we can
observe the pattern being used by our opponents and develop a strategy to counteract the moves. Of
course, this could lead to another learning process for our opponents, for we ourselves, in the end, will
develop the pattern to beat the opponents pattern. Opponents may realize this and change their pattern.
Through this learning process, players will update (increase or decrease) their probability for each
move. Most likely because the win or loss experience described previously. The update also might be
led aversion of risk form the players. Memory of recent events and sluggishness in changing opinion
also can contribute in the change of probability of the throws. * Previous research Len Fischer try to
develop such a way to make sure that he will win at least half of the game and to find a truly
unpredictable randomizing strategy. He was doing a simulation game versus the computer program

Cardiovascular System Essays
The cardiovascular system, which consists of the heart and blood vessels, is the circulatory systems in
our body. The major function of the system is transportation; the heart is the system pump and the
blood vessels are the delivery routes. The heart transport respiratory gases, nutrients, wastes, and other
substances vital to the body s homeostasis to and from the cells by using the blood as a medium.
The heart is a cone shaped organ approximately the size of a fist with an apex and a base. It is located
within the mediastinum or medial cavity of the thorax. The heart is enclosed within a double walled
pericardium, a fibroserous sac. The pericardium has a superficial fibrous pericardium and deep two

Left ventricle pumps the blood into the aorta, where the blood is supplied to the body tissues by the
systemic arteries.
Heart valves ensure one way blood flow through heart. The atrioventricular (AV) valves lie between
the atria and the ventricles prevents the back flow of blood in to the atria while the ventricles contract.
Chordae tendinae anchor AV values to papillary muscles. The left AV valve, the mitral or bicuspid
valve consists of two cusps of endocardium. The right atrioventricular valve, the tricuspid valve, has
three cusps. The second sets of valve are the semilunar valves. The pulmonary semilunar valves lie
between the right ventricle and pulmonary trunk. Aortic semilunar valves lie between ventricle and the
aorta. Semilunar valves prevent the backflow of blood into the ventricle.
The hearts function as a double pump that serves two circulations. The pulmonary pump in the right
side of heart is provided for the gas exchange in the body, and the systemic circulation in the left side
provides the functional blood supply to all body tissues. The functional blood to the heart is provided
by the coronary arteries. Right coronary artery supplies the heart through the posterior interventricular
and marginal artery branches; and the left coronary artery supplies the heart via anterior
interventricular artery and the circumflex artery. The myocardium is drained by great, small, and
middle cardiac veins which

Fredendall s Failure In Relating To The Realities Of War
(8) leadership.
MG Fredendall rarely left the Command Post and was removed from the front lines, being hidden in
underground bunkers. His verbal orders were vague and he continually bypassed the 1st Armored
Division commander, MG Ward, so as to deal directly with the combat commanders. His orders were
based solely (Nidorest) on directive and not from the information on hand. He regularly ignored the
advice of his subordinates.
d. State the mission and describe initial disposition of the opposing forces.
As per the Corps commander, the 1st Armored Division was to defend the passes and provide support

It was a complete disaster for the Allied Forces and large victory for the Axis powers. It set a tone for
further engagements along the western front of the Tunisian invasion. Only the lack of clear unity of
command between the Italians and Germany allowed the offensive to stall.
4. ASSESS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ACTION:
a. Relate causes to effects.
The US doctrine relating to the use of tanks and tank destroyers was flawed, furthermore unit
commanders failed to both properly exercise the doctrine and adapt to the realities of war. This lead to
a total failure in our ability to properly engage and defeat the German forces.
A lack of good intelligence and the inability to properly utilize the intelligence we had made it
impossible to properly position our forces prior to the battle starting. Furthermore it greatly reduced
our ability to reinforce our front lines and counter the German attacks.
b. Establish military lessons learned.
Doctrine should be fluid, it must be allowed to adapt and change as the situation dictates. You cannot
allow yourself to get stuck in a singular mindset about how war is fought. Our enemy s technology
and tactics are always evolving and we must always strive to evolve both to adapt to and overcome

Qualitative Solubility Test Lab Report
Discussion of Results:
In week one we performed a qualitative solubility test of our fats and oils, synthesized our soaps and
detergents, and performed a solubility test and lathering test for the soaps and detergents. We wanted
to test the solubility of our starting materials of the soap making process to understand the properties
of the materials. In our initial solubility test of the starting materials, we found that most of the
materials were insoluble. As you can see in Table 2.0, olive oil and vegetable oil were only soluble in
toluene and the shortening and lard were only partially soluble in acetone. In order to understand the
solubility of the soaps and detergents, after our synthesis and filtration, we performed a qualitative
solubility test with each of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As shown in Table 3.0, it was difficult to stir and combine the shortening and the lard with the sodium
hydroxide and glycerol. Though the oil based soaps were easy to make, they did not yield as much
compared to the fat based soaps. Table 6.0 shows that Soap 3 which was shortening based and Soap 4
which was lard based produced 11.18 g and 11.22 g, respectively. This was a much greater yield than
the oil based soaps. Soap 1 which used olive oil yielded 3.154 grams and soap 2 using vegetable oil
yielded 1.319 grams. This was something to consider when choosing which starting material to use
and depends on whether ease of synthesis or greater yield is more important. The detergent synthesis
methods were very similar but method 2 took less steps and was a bit easier than method 1. Table 6.0
shows that detergent 2 had a greater yield, 5.143 grams whereas detergent 1 had a yield of about 4
grams. The lathering test showed that though soaps 3 and 4 produced the most product of the soaps,
they did not create many bubbles or a good lather according to Table 7.0. The soaps/detergents that
produced the most bubbles were soap 1 which used olive oil followed by detergent 1 and then soap 2

VoIPAdoption at Butler University Essay
Case Study
The VoIP Adoption at Butler University
What were the primary reasons for changing the current system at Butler?
The primary reason that Butler University decided to change their current system was due to the fact
that their original provider was not fulfilling the university s needs. Butler had originally used Centrex
as their service provider. Centrex, being an older system, could not provide Butler University with the
modern, more up to date features that they needed. The Centrex system was based on features that
were over a decade old, and customizing this system was done easily by any means. Butler began to
expand and certain departments began to expand. This caused issues with the current Centrex system
because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main objectives of the pilot program were to test the new features and to gain feedback from
people using the new system. Six weeks before the new system went live, Butler set up 40 phones
with department coordinators and high level staff to test the new system. Over three weeks they tested
the system and gathered information to help improve the system if need by. The overall goal of the
pilot program was to gain buy in from the user community . Obviously when establishing a new
program, there is bound to be some problems and bugs. For instance, Butler encountered a software
bug that caused immense stress to the staff and the system developers. Some of the issues caused by
the software bug were random server reboots, lost phone numbers, voicemail malfunctions, and a
problem with all of the multiline phones.
Do you think Butler made the right decision to utilize this new technology? What implications does
this decision hold for Butler s IT department in the long run?
Yes I believe that Butler made the right decision to utilize this new technology. The system that they
were using before was outdated and was not performing to the standards that Butler needed. The VoIP
system that Butler decided to implement was a great decision to help improve the features that the
Centrex system before lacked in. Although the VoIP system they established was a great idea, it was
rather expensive compared to the Centrex system they were running before.

Brain-Computer and Brain-Machine Interfaces Applied to the...
Over the years, brain computer interfaces (BCIs), or brain machine interfaces (BMIs), have advanced
into a technology that can be regularly be applied to the medical field. BCIs have been used for
rehabilitative purposes, such as patients suffering from loss of speech and motor functions. Every year,
approximately 795,000 people suffer a stroke. Out of these people, 600,000 of these are first attacks
and 185,000 are recurrent attacks [9]. Stroke patients often suffer from paralysis and loss of speech.
The use of BCIs can be highly beneficial to these patients, as well as to patients suffering from other
diseases and traumatic injuries that result in loss of speech and motor function. Besides this, BCIs can
also be useful in other areas of the medical field besides rehabilitative purposes. This technology,
which was once only seen science fiction books and movies, is now becoming a realistic approach to
treating patients. A BCI allows control of computers with the regulation of the patient s brain activity
alone. There are invasive BCIs that are primarily used in animal models where electrodes are
implanted into the brain tissue, and noninvasive BCIs that use EEG recordings in humans. Much
research has been done on using BCIs for stroke patients who suffer from paralysis and loss of motor
function. The goal is to use BCIs to help these patients recover communication and motor function
again. Over the years, much research has been conducted on patients who cannot communicate

General Electric Case Analysis
Introduction
General Electric (GE) is one of the most successful companies in the world and a large diversified
multinational conglomerate. GE is broken into 9 business sectors, Global and Growth Operations, GE
Capital, Healthcare, Oil Gas, Power Water, Energy Management, Appliances Lighting, Aviation and
Transportation. Once regarded as the most valuable company in the world in terms of market
capitalization, GE s performance has recently started to decline.
We recommend that GE divest underperforming units and focus on its core competencies and
restructure the management team.
Background
GE is recognized as one of the oldest and most successful companies in history. The key to its success
had been to combine massive size with constant adaptation. Over the decades, GE had adapted both its
business portfolio and its management systems to the demands and opportunities of a changing world
(Grant, 2016). GE was not only a big successful company but, for many other diversified companies,
it was also a model of management from its inception and through the 20th century. At the end of the
20th Century, GE had a legendary CEO, Jack Welch, who transformed the company s portfolio from a
manufacturing business to financial services. At the time of his retirement, GE Capital accounted for
nearly half of GE s revenue and the bulk of its assets (Grant, 2016).
Welch had been the heart of the most widespread and strategic disruption and transformation in GE s
history. He

The Human Gene Therapy
Gene therapy is a technique that uses new genes to treat or prevent disease by replacing or adding new
effective genes. This technique is aimed to allow doctors to treat genetic disorders without the
prescribing drugs or scheduling surgery to correct the disorder. Gene therapy isn t a fully effective
method as of today. It is still undergoing tests. Several of the most common tests include introducing a
new gene into the body to fight against a disease or disorder, replacing a mutated gene with a healthy
gene, and removing a mutated gene in the body that is not functioning as it should be. Gene therapy is
seen to be a fair treatment to diseases or disorders that have no other form of cure. It is sometimes
used for inherited disorders, certain viral infections, and certain cancers. But Gene Therapy is not a
certain option for treatment as of today. It is still under study as success rates are low. Genetic
disorders affect one out ten people. Symptoms vary with each disease or disorder as some can appear
early in a person s life, while others appear at an older age. Genetic disorders cannot be prevented as
they are passed on through a family s genes and is within the DNA unlike a regular disease is caused
by bacteria or a virus. There are two possible ways a genetic disorder can be passed on to the
offspring, or child. One way is caused by dominant genes in which only one gene is altered resulting
in the disorder or disease. The second way is caused by recessive genes in

Myosin And Myosin Function And Its Effect On A Huge Number...
Abstract:
The actin myosin interaction is most commonly known for its role in sliding filament theory, where
myosin II bundles interact with actin filaments to shorten muscle sarcomeres and ultimately contract
the muscle. However the myosin superfamily is huge, numbering 17 different proteins to date, and
encompassing many different roles. The interaction of myosin and actin in non muscle cells is thus a
huge topic, but in understanding the structure, function and regulation of this part of the cytoskeleton,
it is possible to find new drug targets and design new treatments to a huge number of diseases. One
such target is the Rho associated protein kinases (ROCKs), which are responsible for the regulation of
the actin myosin cytoskeleton. This report aims to briefly cover the basic role of the actin myosin
cytoskeleton in non muscle cells, how it is regulated by the ROCK family of serine/threonine kinases,
and how ROCK inhibitors have could have huge therapeutic potential.
Introduction:

Alkyl Bromide Lab Report
Aim The purpose of this lab was to convert a primary alcohol to an alkyl bromide through SN2
reaction.
Introduction
A nucleophilic substitution reaction is when one group is substituted for another group and this
reaction proceeds via nucleophile. The SN2 reaction is one of the nucleophilic substitution reaction
where a nucleophile (electron rich) attacks a substrate that has a partial positive charge which expels
the leaving group out. The nucleophile attacks the carbon bonded to the leaving group from the back,
which leads to an inversion of stereochemistry. This reaction has only one step such that the
nucleophilic attack and the leaving group leaving happens in one concerted step. Some factors which
are essential for a SN2 reaction are that the carbon must be a methyl or primary carbon, sometimes the
reaction works with secondary carbons, but tertiary carbons are not reactive. This is due to steric
hindrance expressed by secondary and tertiary carbons. The nucleophile will not be able to attack on

The moles of 1 butanol that was used in this reaction were 5.00g/(74.1 g/mol)= 0.0674 moles. The
percent theoretical yield should be 100% and since 1 mol of 1 butanol should result also result in 1

So, the moles of the product are 3.390g/(137.0g/mol)= 0.0247 moles. Hence, the yield of this reaction

Diction and Imagery
Literary Techniques
The meaning of a poem (i.e its focus, mood and the speaker s attitude) is enhanced by four main types
of literary techniques: Diction
Imagery
Sound devices
Rhythm, Rhyme and Repetition
Diction
Diction is the choice of words a poet uses to bring meaning across.
In working through a poem, it is useful to question why a certain word is used, and what kind of effect
is achieved with the choice and placement of the word.
Analyze a word by its literal meaning first, then state whether there is an implied meaning based on
its context:

Female Characters In Othello Essay
. Examine the female characters in the play. Do they share a common role in Othello? Every woman in
Othello are very important to the plot and drama. Even the premise of Othello is about one man
wanting to destroy another for a Woman. The Woman that Cassio and Roderigo want in the story is
Desdemona, even though she is with Othello. While Desdemona may seem a two dimensional
character, she is takes the initiate several times and is the moral center to the story. She also comes
across as open minded considering that she loved Othello despite him being a different race which was
often a big deal breaker for the time. The other female characters are also important to the story.

According to Dictionary.com, A revolution is an overthrow or repudiation and the thorough

a corrupt government due to the poor leadership of Czar Nicholas II.The people of Russia were greatly

Happiness In Gatsby
In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald explores the definitions of happiness. Throughout the novel,
Fitzgerald reveals multitudes of scenarios that describe and define happiness in its purest form.
Happiness is revealed as something temporary and difficult to maintain. Furthermore the reader sees
the conflicts that arise between Tom and Gatsby and their love and happiness towards life and Daisy.
Because of this, Tom and Gatsby play the largest role in describing what happiness is in the novel.
Even further, as their characters evolve, the reader is able to understand how happiness evolves as
well. Through the tragedy in Tom s affair, Tom s craving for drama, and Gatsby s strong desire for
Daisy, it is clear that Fitzgerald wishes to reveal the temporary ... Show more content on

Gatsby represents the clash of love and happiness. Moreover, his persistence and confusion led him to
a false idea of himself. More importantly, Gatsby s trouble with love reveals something significant
about happiness temporary nature. Following Gatsby s dance with Daisy, Gatsby expresses his
distance from her. Nick then proclaims, You can t repeat the past (110). What Nick is alluding too is
Gatsby s prolonging for the same happiness he experienced back when he first met Daisy. Nick does
not believe that happiness exists anymore in the present. This idea is similarly expressed when Nick
says, He talked a lot about the past, and I gathered that he wanted to recover something, some idea of
himself perhaps, that had gone into loving Daisy. His life had been confused and disordered since
then, but if he could return to a certain starting place and go over it all slowly, he could find out what
that thing was (110). Nick describes the idea of happiness that Gatsby formed with Daisy. Ever since
he lost Daisy to the war, Gatsby never recovered that idea. Because of this, Gatsby finds himself lost
and confused. Fitzgerald is explaining that happiness has the tendency to be temporary and
unrecoverable. Fitzgerald s take on happiness reveals it as momentary. Using the hardships of Tom
and Gatsby, Fitzgerald was able to describe happiness in a more cutthroat fashion that takes on the
reality of life into account.

Draft And Outline Of David Suzuki s The Pain Of Animals
The Pain of Animals Draft and Outline
The Pain of Animals is an article written by David Suzuki and published in 1989. The writer discusses
that humans are using other species for their benefits and causing them pain by scientific experiments
as well as by pleasure purposes. This results in the extinction of many species and disrupts the
ecosystem. Moreover, David Suzuki s main point throughout this article is to explain and convince
readers that animals have body systems similar to humans and they also feel fear and pain. In addition,
he discusses that it is unethical to cause pain in animals for humans own benefits.
Suzuki s main thesis of this article is a discussion about the similarities between human rights and
animal rights. He also focuses on animals used for research due to their similarities such as their
bodies, responses, and nervous system with humans. In addition, humans use them for pleasure which
cause them fear and pain that is unethical. Suzuki has persuaded readers by connecting his childhood
experience of hunting and fishing as well as moments he realized that it is painful for the animals.
Specifically, the description about the holes in the fish s mouth and the pain and fear from it in the fish
is very touching to the readers.
Moreover, Suzuki made an effective discussion by talking about animal s life after being tested if they
survive. He made readers to think and feel about the pain of animals by his emotional questions, What
gives us the right to exploit other living organisms as we see fit? How do we know that these other
creatures don t feel pain or anguish just as we do? Perhaps there s no problem with fruit flies, but
where do we draw the line? (Suzuki, 1989, p.681). Suzuki s main purpose is to convince the audience
that animals feel pain and it is unethical to make animals suffer from pain for our benefits. Suzuki
suggests that it is not wise to use animals for research as well as for our pleasure to the extent that
results in extinction.
Suzuki mentioned in his article about medical research and experiments of Jane Goodall using
chimpanzees greatly affect the population of chimpanzees. Furthermore, human moves animals from
their homes and lands to zoos for education and

Florence Nightingale Contributions
Florence Nightingale was born May 12th, 1820 named after Florence, Italy, where she was born. At
just one year old Florence moved to England because her father owned Lea Hurst, a country house, in
Derbyshire and was extremely wealthy. When Florence was five years old, her mother Fanny
convinced her husband to move to Emely Park where the Nightingales would have more
entertainment. Although this made Fanny happy, Florence was miserable with the consistent guests
and chatter. She preferred to be alone with her thoughts. Growing up she was only taught the things a
good wife and mother would need to know, including; music, dance, needlework and art lessons. In
the 1800s women weren t expected to receive an education based on the core subjects, they learned
things that would help them become the best care taker they could be. Since Florence was considered
upper class, it was highly unlikely for her to ever have a job. But as Florence grew older she became
very neat and organized. She enjoyed numbers and placing data into tables. At the age of eight she
taught herself French and always did the right thing because she believed that s what god wanted.
Once Florence turned twelve her father, William Nightingale insisted on her and Parthenope, her older
sister, to be well educated. William taught his two daughters the following languages; Latin, Greek,
French, Italian, and German. Then he had them learn all about history, philosophy, ethics,
composition, the bible, and mathematics.

an officer is only allowed to use a weapon if his life was in danger or if he had weapon but in this case

religion the constitution does foucs on that too whereas where we a free right to practice and not be

nationality, and orgin. They should be detained because of a logical and ethical reason if not then their

Similarly to Khafre sculpture, the girl is in frontal pose. The girl has one hand clenched into a fist

meaning to the painting, with her clenched fist representing the strength of the album and the relaxed
palm showing the steadiness or fluidity of the album. Additionally, just like the sculpture, the girl has

Synthesis Of Pnitroaniline From Aniline Essay
This experiment takes a longer time then other experiments, taking approximately three weeks to
complete. It involves a three step synthesis to make pnitroaniline from aniline and then we will be
characterizing our product using the new and useful technique of thin layer chromatography (TLC).
We will not be doing the first part of this experiment only parts two and three.
Electrophiles are reagents which are attracted to other electrons and in order to bond to nucleophiles,
they accept electron pairs. Electrophiles attack benzene and this results in hydrogen substitution.
Nonetheless, this isn t thermodynamically favoured due to a sp3 hybridized carbon being generated.
This disrupts the cyclic conjugation. In order for the aromatic ring to be regenerated, a proton will be
lost at the sp3 hybridized carbon. This means pnitroaniline can be prepared by electrophilic aromatic
substitution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Acetyl groups are electron withdrawing. This reduces the activity of the lone pair on the nitrogen

In the second part of the experiment, we will be performing the nitration of Acetanilide. We will first

this experiment is sulphuric acid. The nitronium ion is an extremely strong and powerful electrophile

The Musical Theatre Of America
Musical Theatre in America
Before the 20th century, people used music and dancing to tell stories, but it had nothing to do with
developing musical theater. Musical theatre is a type of play that tells a story through songs, spoken
dialogue, and dancing. During the 20th century, there was a lot of change going on in Musical Theatre.
Musicals are different from other types of stage works such as opera because a musical would not be a
musical without the music, story line, or dancing. European operetta was becoming more popular than
American Musical Theatre. The two main types of opera that were being made were called ballad
operas and comic operas which had romantic plots. American composers sought to come up with
something new, since Musical Theatre was not very popular with the general public. There were a lot
of components that helped shape musical theatre in America , but most think that it was mainly
developed because of the different tastes developing, likeable styles, spirit and energy by composers in
America, it was not. Although musical theaters origins are not certain, Musical theatre gradually
developed using influences of ballad opera, comic opera, operetta, vaudeville, and burlesque.
Musical theatre had not been called musicals , although there were previous stage entertainments.
Before the 20th century there was a reported first musical written entitled The Disappointment was a

Negative Effects Of Driverless Cars
As the idea of technology is increasing exponentially, a new concept of self driving cars has arisen in
today s society. Rather than people driving the car, this new car will be driven by a computer or
technology. This car could be beneficial to society because of its ability to safely and quickly navigate
itself without any distractions. But because this car is based fully on technology, the probability the
car could malfunction and lead to more deaths is larger than the average non autonomous car. One
time, I was stopped at an intersection and a car ran the red light and t boned an oncoming vehicle. The
man claimed he had a failure in his automatic braking system, and he was unable to brake at the red
light. This represented the harsh reality technology is not always reliable. Driverless cars are not
beneficial to society because the cars have a negative effect on the safety and the economy in the
community.
Autonomous cars are not profitable to society because not only do they put the driver at risk, but they
also put pedestrians at risk. Although non autonomous cars have a chance of being hacked, driverless
cars will have less of opportunity for a passenger to correct any errors (Haines). With the inability to
correct a hacked car, the roads become a very dangerous place for pedestrians and other drivers
because this car will be travelling at rapid speeds with no one at the wheel. These cars, when hacked,
can easily fly through neighborhoods and put children playing

wheels, which make it easier for them to move from one place to another. Some of their examples
include single wheel robots, two wheel, and military robots and so on.
C. Legged robots
These robots are considered the most complex and sophisticated when it comes to locomotion. They
are also known as mobile robots as they can move from place to place on a very quick speed. They are
often characterized by having legs and arms which support their movement or allow them to get up
when they fall down. The most common legged robots in this category are the popular humanoid
robots, military robots, and domestic or household robots [34].
D. Vehicle Robots
This category of robot is considered as one of the largest of all, they include those robots which cover
far distance. They have such locomotive components that could endure any kind of environment, be it
rocky areas, deserts, water or even space. Example of these robots include
Space robots ones used in the space by NASA

Child Labor In The British Industrial Revolution
In the late Eighteenth century, Great Britain s shift from an agricultural based economy to one based
on industry began the period known as The British Industrial Revolution. With the increase in the
population exceeding four million, the small, rural industries were not able to meet the market s
growing demands for the production of textiles and manufactured goods. In an attempt to create more
efficient means of production, technologically advanced machines and new energy sources, such as
James Hargreaves Spinning Jenny and James Watt s steam engine, were created and placed in urban
factories. As these machines required no skill level to operate, countless members of the poorer class,
referred to as the working class, moved to urban ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Identity of Women in Shelley s Frankenstein, Bronte s...
Identity of Women in Shelley s Frankenstein, Bronte s Jane Eyre, and Eliot s The Mill on the Floss
George Eliot is quoted as stating: A woman s hopes are woven of sunbeams; a shadow annihilates
them (Miner 473). To extend this notion, Jean Giraudoux in Tiger at the Gates, states I have been a
woman for fifty years, and I ve never been able to discover precisely what it is I am (474). These two
statements are related to each other because they express, in large part, the dilemma facing Mary
Shelley, Charlotte Brontë, and George Eliot as they set out to write fictional manuscripts. Giraudoux
may not be able to define female even though she herself is a woman, because a shadow has
annihilated the hopes she might have had in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is created by Shelley to bear the weight of her personal feelings of loss in a male world and of
being defined by men; thus the monster is defined as a male. His despondency is the result of Shelley
realizing the molding of a male culture on her female uniqueness, and in result sees herself not as a
unique female individual, but a formed, boxed in creature; she realizes the monster that I am.
Jane, speaking for Charlotte, looks at herself in a mirror, rather than through a screen of definitions
men have created in regard to her. She ignores the limiting stories, and sees how cold and dark it is to
be true to the female qualities within her body. Being true to the qualities means coldness and
darkness ; words reminiscent of aloneness, and these are harsher than dealing with viewing herself
within the portrait of reality: in a male dominated society, containing males who create the role she
must live.
Lastly, Maggie looks at an inverted mirror, described as a square looking glass [emphasis my own].
The shape of the mirror is important because boxes are also square, and Maggie, like George, feels
that she is in a box created for her, with only the dark back of the mirror to view. In the scene, Maggie
considers turning the mirror around, but then quickly reconsiders. Perhaps she feels the act will do no
good, for light must be present for a mirror

Essay Cyber Security Departments
As the use of technology has increased drastically over the last two decades, so has our need for
technology. Technology has become a part about our everyday life and we can find technology being
used nearly everywhere. Most systems in today s countries and societies rely on technological
infrastructure; these systems include transport systems, factory systems, power plant systems and
water sanitation systems. This brings on the question of to what extent have governments developed
their cyber security departments, what evidence is there of governmental involvement in malware
attacks and why should governments be concerned about cyber security. Since these systems rely
heavily on technology, governments have to consider them as high risk ... Show more content on

Cyber treats of the 21st century
Computer Viruses are increasingly becoming more common, currently 148,000 computers are infected
every day and the World Economic Forum predicts that there is a 10% chance for critical
infrastructure being damaged in the next 5 years . As mentioned earlier most of the critical
infrastructure like power plants and water treatment facilities rely on computer systems, but more
specifically PLC s (Programmable Logic Controllers) 2 and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data
Acquisitions System) . These control systems have a major drawback, which is that they are
susceptible to attacks by hackers if they are not configured in the correct way. There have been several
examples of systems being compromised. The ICS CERT (Industrial Control Systems Cyber
Emergency Response Team) responded to 198 cyber incidents reported by power plants, water
treatment plants and other critical infrastructure during 2012 . An experiment was conducted at the
Department of Energy s Lab in Ohio in 2007. The aim of the experiment was to prove that it is
possible to hack into the US power grid and shut down diesel generators. The experiment was called
Aurora, the group of computer experts managed to hack into the diesel generator and

  • 2. Corruption Of Corruption Introduction In a democratic system like India, the role played by the judiciary is of paramount prominence. The judiciary, through its immaculate reasoning ability helps to keep a democracy proficiently running, and this is perhaps one of the causes why the Independence of the judiciary is the cornerstone of India s democracy. Transparency and accountability these are two fundamental words which help in instituting a system of good governance in any country. Statistics and studies have shown that where there exists a veil of secrecy, there exists corruption. And as depressing as it is, the one body which adjudicates on corruption and lays down guidelines to prevent such corrupt activities has been affected by corruption itself. The reason why the collegium system was criticized and the government wanted to remove it was this very reason; it was injected and filled with corruption. The collegium system had no room for transparency, thus it eventually led to activities of corruption and nepotism taking place. Such acts of corruption, nepotism etc. would in the long run affect the judiciary and the stability of the government. The NJAC Act was introduced in the light of these events to overcome these issues and to provide a more dependable and stable mechanism to the appointment of judges to the High Court and the Supreme Court of India. After the National Judicial Commission Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on August 11, 2014 by the Hon ble Law minister Mr. Ravi ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Evil King in Shakespeare s Richard III Essay The Evil King in Shakespeare s Richard III Richard is an actor, a fully evil actor, who through his mastery of the stage has come to appreciate his skill. Richard Moulton, in his Shakespeare as a Dramatic Thinker, proclaims Richard s wonder at his own command of the stage: Richard has become an artist in evil: the natural emotions attending crime whether of passionate longing, or horror and remorse have given place to artistic appreciation of masterpieces (40). And Robert Weimann, comparing Richard Gloucester to a character in Shakespeare s King John states: Both characters exemplify a strenuous need to perform, toiling desperately to play a role, to find out, and, for better or worse, to take up arms against a thorny world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether actual or a creation of Shakespeare, his deformity pushes him at least to some degree to prove a villain. And Richard wastes no time jumping into his evil character, beginning his scheming as soon as the curtain rises: Plots have I laid, inductions dangerous, / By drunken prophecies, libels and dreams / To set my brother Clarence and the King / In deadly hate the one against the other (1.1.32 5). The manipulation of the other characters of the play begins here in earnest. The initial role that Richard plays is that of loving brother to Clarence, whom he must eliminate from the scene in order to attain the throne for himself. When the king, out of fear of revolt, sends Clarence to the Tower, Richard convinces him to go quietly and to patiently await rescue. Thus, the treacherous role playing of Richard Gloucester begins: Your imprisonment shall not be long. / I will deliver you or lie for you. / Meantime, have patience (1.1.115 7). This declaration of love and support is nothing but a show. As soon as Clarence marches off to prison, Richard proclaims his true character: Go tread the path that thou shalt ne er return. / Simple, plain Clarence, I do love thee so / That I will shortly send thy soul to heaven, / If heaven will take the present at our hands (1.1.118 21). Righter eloquently speaks of Richard s marvelous acting in this scene: [Richard] is acting the part of loving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Predicting Performance Of Post Graduate Education From... Predicting performance in post graduate education from admissions information comparisons of health professions with pharmacy Richard E Wilcox, PhD* and Kenneth A Lawson, PhD ABSTRACT Objectives. The goal of the present review was to assess the state of performance prediction in health care programs generally, versus performance in pharmacy schools, using didactic and non didactic admissions measures. This is important because clinical success represents a combination of skills that are not fully predicted by either type of measure alone. Methods. PubMed searches were conducted focusing on work published from 2000 onwards, since it is during this period that non didactic admissions measures have come to be incorporated into the applicant evaluation process. Relevant papers that were available as free full text were used. When these papers were not available by direct import into EndNote, we went directly to the journal to try to retrieve the paper. Results. Published literature clearly showed that prediction of performance in the didactic portions of health care programs is straightforward when based on pre health care GPA and achievement test scores. The best predictions are achieved when both measures are combined. While significant statistical prediction is achieved in virtually every study, the percent of total performance variance accounted for is also consistent and uniformly small in the order of 25%. Similarly, there is now an emerging consensus that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Administering Inhaled High Concentration Oxygen to... The practice of administering inhaled high concentration oxygen to patients suffering chest pain is widespread, has been followed for about a century, and is advised in major textbooks of emergency care, general medicine, and cardiology. There remains an expectation amongst the general public and medical practitioners that oxygen simply forms part of the standard treatment of a sick patient (Nicholson, 2004). A review of the evolution of supplemental oxygen therapy reveals that it is not evidence based, and there is uncertainty about the benefits and safety. This paper will discuss the different approaches of the use of high concentration oxygen therapy for the client with acute chest pain, including previously conducted trials. The physiological benefits and harms, the variation in international guidelines and the need for future research will also be analysed. Chest pain is a common and often non specific symptom that can be caused by a number of underlying conditions , one of the most serious being Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI), commonly known as a heart attack (Chapman, Leslie, Sage, 2012, p. 12). High concentration oxygen therapy, levels greater than 60%, has been advocated for the treatment of AMI and chest pain for nearly three quarters of a century (Ranchord, Perrin, Weatherall, Beasley, Simmonds, 2012). As early as 1922, Barach noted the beneficial effects of high concentration oxygen therapy, at levels of 80 100%, in patients suffering from angina ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Students at the Academy studied many different fields of science, including biological and astronomical. The students also studied many other fields, such as math. Boethius was imprisoned and then executed in 524 AD, while imprisoned and before his execution he wrote his best known work, The Consolation of Philosophy. Players will follow some sort of pattern, unconsciously, that the opponents might observe. Therefore, they can observe the opponents strategy or action history or own payoff history. Of course, this could lead to another learning process for our opponents, for we ourselves, in the end, will develop the pattern to beat the opponents pattern. The major function of the system is transportation; the heart is the system pump and the blood vessels are the delivery routes. The heart transport respiratory gases, nutrients, wastes, and other substances vital to the body s homeostasis to and from the cells by using the blood as a medium. The heart is a cone shaped organ approximately the size of a fist with an apex and a base. It is located within the mediastinum or medial cavity of the thorax. It was a complete disaster for the Allied Forces and large victory for the Axis powers. It set a tone for further engagements along the western front of the Tunisian invasion. Only the lack of clear unity of command between the Italians and Germany allowed the offensive to stall. 4. ASSESS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ACTION: a. Relate causes to effects. The US doctrine relating to the use of tanks and tank destroyers was flawed, furthermore unit commanders failed to both properly exercise the doctrine and adapt to the realities of war. This lead to a total failure in our ability to properly engage and defeat the German forces. A lack of good intelligence and the inability to properly utilize the intelligence we had made it impossible to properly position our forces prior to the battle starting. Furthermore it greatly reduced our ability to reinforce our front lines and counter the German attacks. b. Establish military lessons learned. In our initial solubility test of the starting materials, we found that most of the materials were insoluble. As you can see in Table 2.0, olive oil and vegetable oil were only soluble in toluene and the shortening and lard were only partially soluble in acetone. In order to understand the solubility of the soaps and detergents, after our synthesis and filtration, we performed a qualitative solubility test with each of ... Though the oil based soaps were easy to make, they did not yield as much compared to the fat based soaps. Table 6.0 shows that Soap 3 which was shortening based and Soap 4 which was lard based produced 11.18 g and 11.22 g, respectively. This was a much greater yield than the oil based soaps. Soap 1 which used olive oil yielded 3.154 grams and soap 2 using vegetable oil yielded 1.319 grams. This was something to consider when choosing which starting material to use and depends on whether ease of synthesis or greater yield is more important. The detergent synthesis methods were very similar but method 2 took less steps and was a bit easier than method 1. Table 6.0 shows that detergent 2 had a greater yield, 5.143 grams whereas detergent 1 had a yield of about 4 grams. The lathering test showed that though soaps 3 and 4 produced the most product of the soaps, they did not create many bubbles or a good lather according to Table 7.0. The soaps/detergents that produced the most bubbles were soap 1 which used olive oil followed by detergent 1 and then soap 2 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. VoIPAdoption at Butler University Essay Case Study The VoIP Adoption at Butler University What were the primary reasons for changing the current system at Butler? The primary reason that Butler University decided to change their current system was due to the fact that their original provider was not fulfilling the university s needs. Butler had originally used Centrex as their service provider. Centrex, being an older system, could not provide Butler University with the modern, more up to date features that they needed. The Centrex system was based on features that were over a decade old, and customizing this system was done easily by any means. Butler began to expand and certain departments began to expand. This caused issues with the current Centrex system because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main objectives of the pilot program were to test the new features and to gain feedback from people using the new system. Six weeks before the new system went live, Butler set up 40 phones with department coordinators and high level staff to test the new system. Over three weeks they tested the system and gathered information to help improve the system if need by. The overall goal of the pilot program was to gain buy in from the user community . Obviously when establishing a new program, there is bound to be some problems and bugs. For instance, Butler encountered a software bug that caused immense stress to the staff and the system developers. Some of the issues caused by the software bug were random server reboots, lost phone numbers, voicemail malfunctions, and a problem with all of the multiline phones. Do you think Butler made the right decision to utilize this new technology? What implications does this decision hold for Butler s IT department in the long run? Yes I believe that Butler made the right decision to utilize this new technology. The system that they were using before was outdated and was not performing to the standards that Butler needed. The VoIP system that Butler decided to implement was a great decision to help improve the features that the Centrex system before lacked in. Although the VoIP system they established was a great idea, it was rather expensive compared to the Centrex system they were running before. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Over the years, brain computer interfaces (BCIs), or brain machine interfaces (BMIs), have advanced into a technology that can be regularly be applied to the medical field. BCIs have been used for rehabilitative purposes, such as patients suffering from loss of speech and motor functions. Every year, approximately 795,000 people suffer a stroke. Out of these people, 600,000 of these are first attacks and 185,000 are recurrent attacks [9]. Stroke patients often suffer from paralysis and loss of speech. The use of BCIs can be highly beneficial to these patients, as well as to patients suffering from other diseases and traumatic injuries that result in loss of speech and motor function. Besides this, BCIs can also be useful in other areas of the medical field besides rehabilitative purposes. This technology, which was once only seen science fiction books and movies, is now becoming a realistic approach to treating patients. A BCI allows control of computers with the regulation of the patient s brain activity alone. There are invasive BCIs that are primarily used in animal models where electrodes are implanted into the brain tissue, and noninvasive BCIs that use EEG recordings in humans. Much research has been done on using BCIs for stroke patients who suffer from paralysis and loss of motor function. The goal is to use BCIs to help these patients recover communication and motor function again. Over the years, much research has been conducted on patients who cannot communicate ... GE is broken into 9 business sectors, Global and Growth Operations, GE Capital, Healthcare, Oil Gas, Power Water, Energy Management, Appliances Lighting, Aviation and Transportation. Once regarded as the most valuable company in the world in terms of market capitalization, GE s performance has recently started to decline. We recommend that GE divest underperforming units and focus on its core competencies and restructure the management team. Background GE is recognized as one of the oldest and most successful companies in history. The key to its success had been to combine massive size with constant adaptation. Over the decades, GE had adapted both its business portfolio and its management systems to the demands and opportunities of a changing world (Grant, 2016). GE was not only a big successful company but, for many other diversified companies, it was also a model of management from its inception and through the 20th century. At the end of the 20th Century, GE had a legendary CEO, Jack Welch, who transformed the company s portfolio from a manufacturing business to financial services. This technique is aimed to allow doctors to treat genetic disorders without the prescribing drugs or scheduling surgery to correct the disorder. Gene therapy isn t a fully effective method as of today. It is still undergoing tests. Several of the most common tests include introducing a new gene into the body to fight against a disease or disorder, replacing a mutated gene with a healthy gene, and removing a mutated gene in the body that is not functioning as it should be. Gene therapy is seen to be a fair treatment to diseases or disorders that have no other form of cure. It is sometimes used for inherited disorders, certain viral infections, and certain cancers. But Gene Therapy is not a certain option for treatment as of today. It is still under study as success rates are low. Genetic disorders affect one out ten people. Symptoms vary with each disease or disorder as some can appear early in a person s life, while others appear at an older age. Genetic disorders cannot be prevented as they are passed on through a family s genes and is within the DNA unlike a regular disease is caused by bacteria or a virus. Abstract: The actin myosin interaction is most commonly known for its role in sliding filament theory, where myosin II bundles interact with actin filaments to shorten muscle sarcomeres and ultimately contract the muscle. However the myosin superfamily is huge, numbering 17 different proteins to date, and encompassing many different roles. The interaction of myosin and actin in non muscle cells is thus a huge topic, but in understanding the structure, function and regulation of this part of the cytoskeleton, it is possible to find new drug targets and design new treatments to a huge number of diseases. One such target is the Rho associated protein kinases (ROCKs), which are responsible for the regulation of the actin myosin cytoskeleton. This report aims to briefly cover the basic role of the actin myosin cytoskeleton in non muscle cells, how it is regulated by the ROCK family of serine/threonine kinases, and how ROCK inhibitors have could have huge therapeutic potential. Introduction: The cell cytoskeleton in an immensely complex system of protein filaments and motors, which is responsible for maintaining the rigidity and architecture of the eukaryotic cell, while transporting vesicles and organelles throughout the cell and assisting in cell movement. • 21. Alkyl Bromide Lab Report Aim The purpose of this lab was to convert a primary alcohol to an alkyl bromide through SN2 reaction. Introduction A nucleophilic substitution reaction is when one group is substituted for another group and this reaction proceeds via nucleophile. The SN2 reaction is one of the nucleophilic substitution reaction where a nucleophile (electron rich) attacks a substrate that has a partial positive charge which expels the leaving group out. The nucleophile attacks the carbon bonded to the leaving group from the back, which leads to an inversion of stereochemistry. This reaction has only one step such that the nucleophilic attack and the leaving group leaving happens in one concerted step. Some factors which are essential for a SN2 reaction are that the carbon must be a methyl or primary carbon, sometimes the reaction works with secondary carbons, but tertiary carbons are not reactive. This is due to steric hindrance expressed by secondary and tertiary carbons. The nucleophile will not be able to attack on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 27. Draft And Outline Of David Suzuki s The Pain Of Animals The Pain of Animals Draft and Outline The Pain of Animals is an article written by David Suzuki and published in 1989. The writer discusses that humans are using other species for their benefits and causing them pain by scientific experiments as well as by pleasure purposes. This results in the extinction of many species and disrupts the ecosystem. Moreover, David Suzuki s main point throughout this article is to explain and convince readers that animals have body systems similar to humans and they also feel fear and pain. In addition, he discusses that it is unethical to cause pain in animals for humans own benefits. Suzuki s main thesis of this article is a discussion about the similarities between human rights and animal rights. He also focuses on animals used for research due to their similarities such as their bodies, responses, and nervous system with humans. In addition, humans use them for pleasure which cause them fear and pain that is unethical. Suzuki has persuaded readers by connecting his childhood experience of hunting and fishing as well as moments he realized that it is painful for the animals. Specifically, the description about the holes in the fish s mouth and the pain and fear from it in the fish is very touching to the readers. Moreover, Suzuki made an effective discussion by talking about animal s life after being tested if they survive. He made readers to think and feel about the pain of animals by his emotional questions, What gives us the right to exploit other living organisms as we see fit? How do we know that these other creatures don t feel pain or anguish just as we do? Perhaps there s no problem with fruit flies, but where do we draw the line? (Suzuki, 1989, p.681). Suzuki s main purpose is to convince the audience that animals feel pain and it is unethical to make animals suffer from pain for our benefits. Suzuki suggests that it is not wise to use animals for research as well as for our pleasure to the extent that results in extinction. Suzuki mentioned in his article about medical research and experiments of Jane Goodall using chimpanzees greatly affect the population of chimpanzees. I specifically think about the Seated Scribe, where a man has his top half of his body naked and has a white piece of fabric wrapped around his waist. It also reminds me of the blank face, clenched fist and open palm of the Khafre sculpture. Similarly to Khafre sculpture, the girl is in frontal pose. The girl has one hand clenched into a fist holding the balloon and the other relaxed and open. The sculpture could possibly have the same meaning to the painting, with her clenched fist representing the strength of the album and the relaxed palm showing the steadiness or fluidity of the album. Additionally, just like the sculpture, the girl has an emotionless face, which could suggest there is no weakness or flaw in the album. All in all, I believe modern art has traces/resemblance to past art in them, and there are no exceptions in this artwork for an album ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consequences Of The Civil Rights Act Of 1964 And 1965 Consequences of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and 1965 The passage of the civil rights acts of 1964 and 1965 had immense impacts, especially on the unification of the American society. The passage of the acts led to the beginning of a reconstruction period in America founded on equality. While they did not result in the ending of the systemic injustices that had existed in the periods before the civil rights movement, it created an avenue where future challenges could be dialogued and logical sacrifices made to make the country a better place for all races. First, the acts resulted in the barring of the unequal application practices in voter registration. For the first time, the blacks were allowed to register as voters and choose their leaders. ... Effects of Regulation There are two predominant views in contemporary economic thought explaining the driving force behind the rule of industries. The first is the public interest theory of rule, assumes that rule is recognized primarily for the benefit of society or some large subclass of society at the outlay of regulated firms. In this case, the government is the mechanism by which individuals in the economy express their demands to cure market failures such as public goods, monopolies, and spillover problems. One could claim that the airline industry was regulated for reasons such as national defense or limitation of monopoly powers. Therefore, the public benefited from regulation. • 39. Synthesis Of Pnitroaniline From Aniline Essay This experiment takes a longer time then other experiments, taking approximately three weeks to complete. It involves a three step synthesis to make pnitroaniline from aniline and then we will be characterizing our product using the new and useful technique of thin layer chromatography (TLC). We will not be doing the first part of this experiment only parts two and three. Electrophiles are reagents which are attracted to other electrons and in order to bond to nucleophiles, they accept electron pairs. Electrophiles attack benzene and this results in hydrogen substitution. Nonetheless, this isn t thermodynamically favoured due to a sp3 hybridized carbon being generated. This disrupts the cyclic conjugation. In order for the aromatic ring to be regenerated, a proton will be lost at the sp3 hybridized carbon. This means pnitroaniline can be prepared by electrophilic aromatic substitution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Acetyl groups are electron withdrawing. This reduces the activity of the lone pair on the nitrogen either in a protonation reaction or an oxidation reaction. The conditions required for nitration are extremely acidic. We will first need to form the nitronium ion in situ by the dehydration of the nitric acid. The dehydrating agent for this experiment is sulphuric acid. • 40. The Musical Theatre Of America Musical Theatre in America Before the 20th century, people used music and dancing to tell stories, but it had nothing to do with developing musical theater. Musical theatre is a type of play that tells a story through songs, spoken dialogue, and dancing. During the 20th century, there was a lot of change going on in Musical Theatre. Musicals are different from other types of stage works such as opera because a musical would not be a musical without the music, story line, or dancing. European operetta was becoming more popular than American Musical Theatre. The two main types of opera that were being made were called ballad operas and comic operas which had romantic plots. American composers sought to come up with something new, since Musical Theatre was not very popular with the general public. There were a lot of components that helped shape musical theatre in America , but most think that it was mainly developed because of the different tastes developing, likeable styles, spirit and energy by composers in America, it was not. Although musical theaters origins are not certain, Musical theatre gradually developed using influences of ballad opera, comic opera, operetta, vaudeville, and burlesque. Musical theatre had not been called musicals , although there were previous stage entertainments. Before the 20th century there was a reported first musical written entitled The Disappointment was a ballad opera that was taken from rehearsal because it contained ... Rather than people driving the car, this new car will be driven by a computer or technology. This car could be beneficial to society because of its ability to safely and quickly navigate itself without any distractions. But because this car is based fully on technology, the probability the car could malfunction and lead to more deaths is larger than the average non autonomous car. One time, I was stopped at an intersection and a car ran the red light and t boned an oncoming vehicle. The man claimed he had a failure in his automatic braking system, and he was unable to brake at the red light. This represented the harsh reality technology is not always reliable. Driverless cars are not beneficial to society because the cars have a negative effect on the safety and the economy in the community. Autonomous cars are not profitable to society because not only do they put the driver at risk, but they also put pedestrians at risk. Although non autonomous cars have a chance of being hacked, driverless cars will have less of opportunity for a passenger to correct any errors (Haines). With the inability to correct a hacked car, the roads become a very dangerous place for pedestrians and other drivers because this car will be travelling at rapid speeds with no one at the wheel. These cars, when hacked, can easily fly through neighborhoods and put children playing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Types Of Robots Robotics is a very wide and broad area, as it comprises of different fields and has been adapted by many professional bodies including defense, medicine, agriculture, automobile, aeronautics, etc. This is why there are no specific types of robots. Hence, we cannot categorically say these are the types of robots because types of robots are measured in terms of their use, functions, environment and location system they possess [14, 17, 34]. Thus, here are the basic types of robots viz: Stationary robots, wheeled robots, legged robots, Vehicle robots, Cloud robots, and Nano robots. A. Legged robots These robots are considered the most complex and sophisticated when it comes to locomotion. They are also known as mobile robots as they can move from place to place on a very quick speed. They are often characterized by having legs and arms which support their movement or allow them to get up when they fall down. The most common legged robots in this category are the popular humanoid robots, military robots, and domestic or household robots [34]. D. Identity of Women in Shelley s Frankenstein, Bronte s Jane Eyre, and Eliot s The Mill on the Floss George Eliot is quoted as stating: A woman s hopes are woven of sunbeams; a shadow annihilates them (Miner 473). To extend this notion, Jean Giraudoux in Tiger at the Gates, states I have been a woman for fifty years, and I ve never been able to discover precisely what it is I am (474). These two statements are related to each other because they express, in large part, the dilemma facing Mary Shelley, Charlotte Brontë, and George Eliot as they set out to write fictional manuscripts. He is created by Shelley to bear the weight of her personal feelings of loss in a male world and of being defined by men; thus the monster is defined as a male. Jane, speaking for Charlotte, looks at herself in a mirror, rather than through a screen of definitions men have created in regard to her. She ignores the limiting stories, and sees how cold and dark it is to be true to the female qualities within her body. Being true to the qualities means coldness and darkness ; words reminiscent of aloneness, and these are harsher than dealing with viewing herself within the portrait of reality: in a male dominated society, containing males who create the role she must live. Lastly, Maggie looks at an inverted mirror, described as a square looking glass [emphasis my own]. The shape of the mirror is important because boxes are also square, and Maggie, like George, feels that she is in a box created for her, with only the dark back of the mirror to view.
