The World Trade Center Of The United States
On September 11th, 2001, terrorism reached American soil; attacks were specifically made on Lower
Manhattan, causing the destruction of every World Trade Center associated building. The attack to this
day has still instilled fear of terrorism in our society, and is an event New Yorkers will never forget.
Dating back to July 4th, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed in the United States,
declaring the thirteen colonies free from Great Britain. It is no coincidence that the new 1 WTC,
previously known as the Freedom Tower, reaches its maximum height of 1,776 feet. The name
Freedom Tower was originally used to symbolize America as a nation to rise above the attacks on the
original towers. Architectures strategically planned out its symbolic height to match up with its
specific chosen name of the building. However, the owners decided to change the building name back
to One World Trade Center due to the fact that the building was going to be used as an office building
and not for marketing. Nonetheless, many people still refer to 1 WTC as the Freedom Tower. Fast
forward ten years later from the attack, on September 11th, 2011, the 9/11 Memorial officially opened
for public use. The 9/11 Memorial has not only been one of New York s biggest tourist destinations
that attracts crowds of thousands on a daily basis, but it has also acted as an area that brings back
many memories and emotions for those with any association of that day. With the history of the

Why Mascots Should Change Their Name
The Redskins Should Change Their Name When one typically thinks about a Native American, they
picture this ideological representation of a Native American as depicted by popular culture. Native
Americans are underrepresented on television, in books, in news, and all other forms of media. We, as
a society, have chosen a path of ignorance in which we have chosen not to educate ourselves or our
future generations on the true culture of Native Americans. We have ignored the negative impacts of
using mascots such as Redskins and instead let it serve as a stereotype to fill our heads with unrealistic
views and understandings of Native American culture. The resulting misconceptions leave many
Native American students with a feeling of inferiority and questioning their self worth. The lack of
accurate representation of Native Americans in our everyday lives has left members of society without
more than a stereotype to draw from when thinking about characteristics of Native Americans. Native
Americans have relative invisibility in mainstream media and this lets the few inaccurate portrayals,
such as a sports team s mascot, have an overwhelming amount of power in forming stereotypes
(Fryberg, Markus, Oyserman, Stone, 2008, pg. 208). Many members of society have a very narrow
view of what they understand a Native American to look, dress, and act. These ideas mostly come
from what they see in media through the caricatures used as mascots, childhood cartoons, and similar

Rhetorical Analysis On Gender Bias
Questions for Rhetorical Analysis
1. What historical occasion gives rise to the need for investigation and the creation of this text?
Gender Bias is being taught and occurs unintentionally in our schools. Teachers challenge boys more
than girls. Sexism is so elusive, it is being taught every day and educators are not even aware they are
doing it.
2. Does the author come across as knowledgeable? fair? Does the speaker s reputation convey a
certain authority?
Author(s) have many case studies, two decades of research, grants for programs, hours of classroom
observation and statistical information as evidence.
There seemed to be some bias towards the male gender, there was not enough information disclosed
about the demographics of the schools or the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
9. What is the structure of the article; how is it arranged? What effect does the structure of the article
have, and does this aid or hinder the author s intention?
The structure of the article would be Cause and Effect, the article points out serious issues and blames
gender bias. The writer explains how being gender bias affects girls, especially in education. The
writer could have went more into the cause and effect gender bias has on boys. Teachers might have
reason to specifically pay more attention to boys, maybe to keep them engaged. The teacher might
know the girls are fine when she turns her back. The rotten boy in the back might whip a spitball at
her if she turns her back on the boys, and she knows it. (This was only added for humor)
A teacher with gender bias might unintentionally effect how a class participates, if girls are never
called during a discussion, they will probably quit raising their hands.
10. What type of writing is it? Formal? Informal? Blog? Editorial? Conversational? Scholarly?

Evolution Of The Immune System And Parasite Virulence
The Evolution of the Immune System and Parasite Virulence as a Response to Immunopathology
Ryan Thompson
Introduction
Virulence can be defined as the damage that is cast upon a host by a parasite (Alizon et al., 2009;
Sorci 2013). As virulence increases, a parasite becomes more deadly, as it causes more harm to its host
(Shudo and Iwasa 2003). The Trade Off theory, the idea that a more virulent parasite tends to be
transmitted early on in infection, is often believed to be the main driving force behind the evolution of
virulence in parasites (Alizon et al., 2009, Cooper et al., 2002). The problem with the Trade Off theory
is that it does not accommodate for the impact of the immune system on virulency as a result of
immunopathology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Type 1 cytokines mainly target smaller parasites, like viruses, while Type 2 cytokines target larger
parasites, typically worms (Graham, et al., 2005). Some of the first studies of Type 1 cytopathic
immune responses were with Tumor Necrosis Factor (Tracey and Cerami, 1994). Tumor Necrosis
Factor (TNF), a cytokine produced in response to invasion by a parasite, was found to cause tissue
damage to the host during its response to a viral invasion, causing a reaction very similar to septic
shock (Tracey and Cerami, 1994). For larger infections, Type 2 cytokines are the most common
immune response (Graham et al., 2005). While attempting to repair tissue damage caused by worms,
these cytokines can often overcorrect the problem, causing fibrosis (Graham et al., 2005). In addition
to these cytokine responses, the immune system also implements reactive T cells to help fight off
parasites (Aandahl et al., 2004). These T cells can be immunopathic, but they also possess the ability
to regulate both cytokine responses and other T cell responses (Aandahl et al., 2004). These regulatory
T cells may have evolved as part of the immune system s response to immunopathology. Over time
evolution favored T cells that regulate the cytokine response, which helps avoid septic shock,
increasing the fitness of the host s immune system.
Evolution of the Immune System in Response to Immunopathology Immunopathology has led many
scientists to believe that the

12 Angry Men Essay
12 Angry Men is a film about the dispute among the members of a jury on whether they should
convict a teenager of allegedly killing his own father. The jury argues over and over, creating a very
tense environment; whilst continuously switching positions on the issue. At the end of the movie, the
jury agrees that the boy is not guilty, due to various doubts. However, only one person remained
believing he is guilty all throughout the case. At the end of the movie we find out why this person had
such a strong belief that the boy was guilty, it was because the person had a bad relationship with his
own son and that influenced his beliefs on the case. For this reason, I liked the movie very much. I
liked that the movie started with the jury believing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This scene was one of the first strong pieces of evidence in the boy s side, it was the scene about the
uniqueness of the knife. I remember this scene clearly because of the character s surprise of bringing a
knife that looked exactly like the one used in the murder, and the rest of the jury s dazzled reaction. In
this scene a character (member of the jury) asks to see the knife used in the murder, during a
discussion, in which the other members of the jury claimed that the boy was guilty because the a knife
the boy owned look exactly like the knife in the murder. This agreement was specially relevant to the
case because the knife had very unique designs and there were claims form knife sellers supporting
the unlikeness of there being two knives of the same appearance. However, the character (Henry
Fonda) in this scene does something pretty clever with this information beforehand. As during this
discussion he pulls out an exact looking knife to that one used in the murder and proceeds to stab it in
the table, in an assured manner. This scene is very interesting because of the characters preparedness
for proving his point, since he had bought that knife in the same area that the murder happened.
Additionally, what is more impressive were the emotions of the characters, since most were shocked
that he found that knife while others were outraged; but what s more intense is the character with the
knife confidence in which he drove that knife into the

War Never Changes In Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five
War never changes, which is what gets described in the book Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut.
In the book, readers follow Billy Pilgrim a time traveling war victim who survived Dresden. War is
the worst thing a human can experience because there is nothing intelligent about it, it kills, and it
destroys beautiful things.
Every smart person has made at least one stupid decision in their life. Kurt Vonnegut has seen what
stupid decisions can lead to like the bombing of Dresden which is why he said there is nothing
intelligent to say about a massacre , and he s completely correct because what is there to say that could
be intelligent about a massacre. For example if someone would try to reason here s probably all they
could come up with, number one It was a good use of money no it wasn t no matter how it happened it
s still a lot of money to clean up,rebuild,or pay for the cost of ammunition or bombs, Number two It
allowed us to disrupt their plans and then what? That will only delay their plans till a later date unless
the person who disrupted them went in and took care of them, and three We killed some of the bad
guys , but there still a bunch of innocent people who the person do the bombing/shooting killed. ...

It says so in Slaughterhouse Five, It says so in the news, It says so everywhere war is, It is one the
nasty effects of war because two people couldn t agree over something simple or sometimes it s
complex, But the one thing about war is that it will always happen. Which is why Vonnegut said Do
you know what I say to people when I hear they re writing anti war books? [...] I say, Why don t you
write an anti glacier book instead? . What he s saying in that quote is that no matter what we do to stop
war it will always happen which is why he says why don t you write an anti glacier book instead

Examples Of Non-Therapeutic Communication
Non Therapeutic Communication
Quote: You need to fix yourself up. You remind me of my dogs when they come in out of the rain.
(page 189, Baier)
Background: Sue is in a wheelchair having a hard day and aware of her current greasy and unkept
appearance. Dr. Birmingham approaches her and studies her unhygienic condition and verbally
degrades her.
Technique: Patronizing
Rationale: Dr. Birmingham s comment to the patient is inappropriate and talking down to the patient
stating she looks like a wet dog. If the patient was able to communicate she would have addressed his
unprofessional comment and stated she still depends on the health care staff to tend to her personal
hygiene needs.
Social Communication

Background: Off duty Charles stopped at the hospital to make sure Sue was being tended to. Charles
used his own personal time to come to the hospital to put socks and a blanket on Sue to make sure she
would not get cold during the night.
Effect: Positive
Rationale: Sue was baffled that Charles would leave a personal event to tend to her needs. This over
the top care by Charles makes Sue feel personally connect to Charles. Sue stated, My heart filled with

Ban On Immigration Research Paper
A Modest Proposal to Trump Concerning the Ban on Immigration The most recent news coming from
Washington is the immigration bill that Donald Trump has just signed into effect. This places a ban on
immigration for anyone that is a citizen or naturalized in Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and
Yemen. The problem is that Trump is banning a whole people based upon their country of origin when
truly only a very small majority of the people from there are coming for malicious reasons. Although
Trump s administration has tried to understate the importance of this act by addressing it as a,
temporary pause , citizens of these seven countries have had their lives in America come to a
screeching halt (Kennedy, Merit. NPR.org). The United States was built on the hard work and
desperation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a present disdain for the United States in those countries however this is an even larger reason
why this ban is simply idiotic. This will increase tensions and push these countries to develop
substantial contempt for the American people. Just because someone said they did not like the way
you built your sandcastle does not mean you have to go and destroy theirs just to prove that yours is
better. Educate them. Show them that this way is beneficial. Or ignore them and prove them wrong
through continued success and kindness.
I nominate that we lift the ban and instead make contact with the citizens of those countries to help
ease tensions and create an atmosphere of tolerance. I have been told that I am very good with crafts
so I propose that we make goodie bags. Like really good ones. They will be filled with objects and
miscellaneous gifts that are proven to put people in good moods. To further the value of these gift I
have consulted an expert in chocolate and sweets, my mother Jan. She recites, through her decades of

Bruce Dawe Metaphors
Bruce Dawe s poems Katrina , A Victorian Hangman Tells His Love , Homo Suburbiensis and Enter
Without So Much As Knocking depict life and death through the use of similar poetic techniques such
as metaphors, imagery, onomatopoeia, tone and similes, although, with different circumstances. The
events in these four poems evoke emotions within the reader, the most common being sadness and
frustration. These emotions are explored, in all four poems, through the tone of melancholy. The use
of the melancholic tone in Dawe s poetry enables him to explore life from his poems

It is evident through both poems that Dawe believes the events in these poems are an injustice and he
disagrees with these events; this is heard through the melancholic, sad tone that is apparent in both
poems. He uses this sad tone to persuade the reader to disagree with what has happened. The poem
Katrina uses many metaphors to create imagery, which is also another technique in the poem. One
example of the use of metaphor would be suspended between earth and sky , this line is a metaphor
for life and it signifies the suspense as to whether Katrina will live or die as well as providing imagery
to the reader. Similarly, the poem A Victorian Hangman Tells His Love in

Meaning Of Attitudinal Loyalty
 Attitudinal Loyalty
According to Rauyruen and Miller (2007), Attitudinal loyalty is also viewed as the extent of the
customer s psychological attachments and attitudinal advocacy towards the organization .
The attitudinal definition of loyalty implies that loyalty is a state of mind. By this definition, a
customer is loyal to a brand or a company if they have a positive, preferential attitude toward it. They
like the company, its products or its brands, and they therefore prefer to buy from it, rather than from
the company s competitors. It is all about a consumer having an emotional attachment to a brand,
liking it more than others, and even loving it.
In purely economic terms, the attitudinal definition of customer loyalty would mean that someone who
is willing to pay a premium for Brand A over Brand B, even when the products they represent are
virtually equivalent, is loyal to Brand A. But the emphasis is on willingness, rather than on actual
behavior, per se. In terms of attitudes, then, increasing a customer s loyalty is virtually equivalent to
increasing the customer s preference for the brand. It is closely tied to ... Show more content on

the brand and their overall perception about the brand. Hartline and Jones (1996) found that many

value may help in determining organizational effectiveness. Kollmann (2000) opined that Price plays a
vital role in telecommunication market especially for the mobile telecommunication service providers.

A Young Mother And A Healthy Baby
On August 24, 2016, a young mother went into labor. About five hours later she gave birth to a baby
girl. Well so she thought. The mother ended up going into cardiac rest after five minutes of giving

NICU nurses screaming so they took off. They all look around. From what was a healthy baby had
turned into an 87 year old female. The doctors looked stumbled. There was no father to be found.

Walt Disney Company And Its International Theme Parks
Before discussing the cultural missteps taken by the Walt Disney Company (TWDC) at their
international theme parks, a quick overview of the company and its international theme parks will be
given. The Walt Disney Company is an entertainment conglomerate with business divisions in movies,
television, radio, theater, publishing, and theme parks. Since the focus of this paper is international
theme parks, only a brief history of the American theme parks will be discussed. Walt Disney thought
of the idea of the theme park one day when he took his daughters to a local park and watched them as
they rode the merry go round (Disney, 2009). Disney wanted a place where children and their parents
could have fun and enjoy the rides together (Disney, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tokyo Disneyland
Tokyo Disneyland (TDL) was the Walt Disney Company s first attempt at planning and developing an
international theme park. In the 1970 s after Walt Disney s death, the Walt Disney Company was not
doing well financially when the Oriental Land Company (OLC) approached the company about
opening a theme park in Tokyo. The Oriental Land Company, according to Raz (1999), author of
Riding the Black Ship: Japan and Tokyo Disneyland, is a partnership between two large firms in
Japan, the Mitsui Real Estate Development and Keisei Electric Railway (p.4). The Walt Disney
Company was hesitant to open a new theme park in its current financial state, but the OLC offered
them a deal that was hard to resist. The Oriental Land Company would own and operate the Tokyo
Disneyland while the Walt Disney Company would receive 10 percent of admissions fees and 5
percent of the revenues from food and souvenir sales (Raz, 1999, p. 27). The Walt Disney Company
also received licensing fees up to 20 million dollars for their characters, attractions, and more, as well
as control over the design of the park and control of park operations (Raz, 1999, p. 27; Eisner
Schwartz, 1998, p.263). Although the deal seemed alluring at the time, the Walt Disney Company
would soon come to regret the deal they made with the Oriental Land Company.
Tokyo Disneyland opened on April 15th, 1983 and is described as a carbon copy of its American

Theme Of Mental Illness In Tell Tale Heart
In both reading the main characters both suffer from some kind of mental illness. In Tell Tale Heart;
he seems to be suffering from a severe case of homicidal mental illness. Violence and mental illness
has long been suggested by many writers throughout history. It is evident that the man in Tell Tale
Heart is suffering homicidal mental illness. He may also be suffering from schizophrenia, and a person
with schizophrenia is more likely to commit violent crimes. People who have mental illness have also
been known to try to convince people otherwise. It is apparent that Poe is trying to convince the reader
that the man is sane when he says How, then, am I mad? Hearken! And observe how healthy how

growth opportunities, challenging jobs in which the employees skills and competencies are fully
utilized. The point of the matter is that the managers must identify the need level at which the
employee is existing and then those needs can be utilized as push for motivation. It is essential to note
that not all employees are motivated by the same set of needs. Different individuals may be driven by
different needs at same point of time. And it is as always the most powerful unsatisfied need that

Special Needs In Special Education
One would think that through the achievements within special education that our culture would be
more willing and understanding of students with special needs. Even with great strides and
progressive steps to improve the experience within the education for students with special needs
society still does not fully understand what challenges students with special needs face daily. Culture
wants to be accepting within its comfort level and does not understand that to help students with
special needs or disabilities one must change to the student s level of understanding and comfort.
Within observations of general classrooms, it is still apparent that teachers want to accommodate all
students, but some are still lacking the understanding and knowledge of how to modify their teaching
style to help students with disabilities to reach their maximum potential. Culture is still seeing students
with disabilities as being limited within their education not fully understanding that each student has
different potential and needs specialized instruction (Personal Communication). Within the course and
through field observation the greatest thing that has been observed is that each special education
student is unique, and each has their own academic achievements and struggles. Within the course one
learns that each student has their own challenges and one also learns that there are many different
strategies to teach students with disabilities. Even though students may be limited within

Video Gaming And High Performance Gamming Computers
In the past decade gamming has evolved from the most simplistic of forms to one of the most action
packed entertainment that rivals that of a movie. Along with games the hardware use to run those
games has also evolved to some of the most advanced technology s we know. With this new hardware
there are different type of systems classifications like consoles, and high performance gamming
computers. Among these two classifications I believe the gamming pc s are better than consoles. Here
I am going to go over why I believe this based on price, functions available, control of functionality,
choices of games, and community size. To start off let s look at the background of video games and
how it evolved in to what it is today. Video gaming started becoming popular around the 1970 s when
Atari released their pong arcade machine. (Atari, 99)during this time many first generation consoles
started being released which included the Magnavox Odyssey, TV Tennis Electronics, and Home
pong. Alongside those consoles home computers were starting to emerge like the commodore VIC 20,
and the Amstrad CPC. (Bagnall Melick)Even though video gaming at the time was still in its infancy
it was still a large factor in the market for selling of both of these consoles and computers. Also with
such a big demand for video games the technology for both video games and the hardware to run
video games got better, and cheaper. In a comparison that encyclopedia Britannica did between an

Price Elasticity of Demand (25 Marks)
Evaluate the view that the ability of firms to exploit their customers depends on the price elasticity of

change in demand for a good, following an initial proportionate change in the good s own price. Most
goods are either elastic or inelastic. Elastic demand means that consumers are really sensitive to price

Strong, Independent And Hardworking
Strong, independent and hardworking. All words I would use to describe my Mum. Ever since she was
young she did her best and put effort into everything that she set her mind to. Eleven years younger
than her youngest sibling, the way she grew up was a lot different to the way her older siblings had.
This explains her independence. She may have had four siblings looking after her in her primary years
but by the time she had started intermediate school, it was just her. The others had all gone off and had
their own kids. After her father left and her mother became ill, the only person she could count on was
herself and that idea still sticks with her today. She was like a baby bird that had just learnt to fly and

Around the house she walks around in her classic black Canterbury track pants, holes in the knees and

at home because as she says, What s the point? I m not going anywhere! But as soon as she has to
leave the house it s always out with the skinny jeans and the hair straightener. As most people do, she
has grown emotionally stronger. Married at twenty two for thirteen years to a man who others warned
against. Over the course of those years she was broken down emotionally. Cheated on, stolen from and
lied to constantly. The decision she made to end the marriage and gain full custody of us kids was the
formation of who she is today. If she hadn t made that decision she would still be a lonely, fragile
woman because of who her husband was turning her into. Once that had happened she became strong.
She made the choice to never let anyone push her around as she quite scrupulously points out when
she s pissed off at someone. Anytime I come home I will always see Mum doing the same thing. She ll

else as per usual. Every time I get home she asks how my day was and what I got up to in an

Business and Climate Change

Although research on climate change is quite vague about the exact degree of warming and the
consequences for the natural environment, a wide range of impacts can be expected (Metz, 2011). The
temperature changes and the sea level rise, this has a negative impact on food production, water
availability, human health, biological environment and infrastructure in coastal areas. Vulnerability is
highest in poor countries where the changes will have a devastating effect. Metz (2011) states that

Furthermore, voluntary climate change policy will result in elevating UBS reputation (Hoffman,

investors who consider environmental strategies in making investments will prefer UBS Wealth
Management and Business Banking Switzerland above competitors such as Citigroup and Morgan

Roman Architecture Essay
When one thinks of Roman architecture, many things come to mind, such as arches, columns, statues,
and richly covered surfaces in marbles. One must stop to think that this empire, which gained power
and influence in the first century BC, must have been influenced from the thousands of years of
cultures preceding them in order to create their masterpieces of ingenuity. This phenomenon can be
seen in our borrowing of ideas of ancient Greece and Rome for the construction of our capitol
buildings in the United States. The Romans surely considered design principles of other cultures when
developing their buildings, since daily conquests of new lands opened Roman soldiers eyes to
innovations from the great vastness of their empire. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Doing so, he managed to design the most captivating section of his estate, the Great Canopus and
Serapeum, which have roots in ancient architecture, while also displaying Hadrian s own capability to
produce innovative designs through many different elements of their construction.
Ancient Egypt, which lasted as a powerful empire from 3150 to 30 BC, left a huge legacy on the
world of construction and architecture. Although their architecture revolved around veneration of the
dead, it served as inspiration to many Greek buildings and as a key source for Hadrian s Canopus
design. Through his travels to Alexandria, Egypt, Hadrian was inspired for the overall design of the
estate by attempting to recreate an Alexandrian garden with sacred landscapes, as seen through the
Villa s structures conforming to the terrain. Unfortunately, in the 16th century AD, these example of
an Alexandrian garden, created through the use of statuary and fountains were removed from Hadrian
s villa and re used in order to create a Renaissance garden based upon Roman ideals of gardening. The
large lake in the center of the Canopus is representative of a branch of the Nile River that connects
Alexandria to the Egyptian city of Canopus on the Nile Delta, for which this section of his villa was
named after. The city of Canopus was long revered for its great nocturnal celebrations for which
Hadrian wanted to recreate through

Abolitionist Movement Research Paper
The Abolitionist Movement was a movement that tried to end slavery in 1830 1870 (Abolitionist
Movement). Many Americans, mainly in the north, sought to emancipate slavery. Some tactics and
help to end racism and slavery included ACS, gradualism, colonization, and abolitionists. In previous
years, some religious groups brought up gradually ending slavery, but in the 1830s abolitionists took it
upon themselves to wipe it out immediately. Out of the reform groups in the 1800s, the movement to
end slavery was the most divisive. Because of the North and South disagreement on slavery, the Civil
War was in the works. The Abolitionist Movement was a revolutionary time in a nation that valued
personal freedom. This movement lead to the abolition of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They group established their own constitution which was based greatly on the U.S Constitution. It said
that each state was independent and guaranteed slavery in Confederate areas. It also banned the import
of slaves from outside countries and protective tariffs. The constitution also limited the president s
terms to only six years. Jefferson Davis, a former senator from Mississippi, was elected president of
the confederate States of America (The American Vision 304 307). The Civil War started because of
Lincoln s plan to resupply Fort Sumter. Davis decided he would capture Fort Sumter before the supply
could reach the area. A note was sent to the fort s commander, Major Robert Anderson, to surrender by
the morning of April 12, 1861 (The American Vision 304 307). Eventually, Confederate forces
attacked the fort for thirty three hours, but killed no one. It stopped when Anderson and his men
surrendered. This was the start of the Civil War. After this invasion, President Lincoln called for
75,000 volunteers to serve in the military for 90 days (The American Vision 304 307). This created a
problem in the Upper South. People did not want to secede but felt that was the only option left.
Virginia left first , followed by Arkansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Lincoln was afraid that
Maryland would secede which would cause Washington to be surrounded by Confederate territory. To
prevent this from happening, he imposed martial law in Baltimore. Martial law could allow the
military to take control, replace civilian authorities, and suspend many civil rights (The American
Vision 304 307). The war lasted for four long, tragic filled years. During these years many events

Environmental Regulation and the Competitive Market
Natural Resource Policy
Environmental Regulation and the Competitive Market Competition and environmental regulation are
both compulsory. Both environmental regulation and competitiveness policies are two strong policies
that are taken into great consideration. They both aim to prevent market failures and enhance social
welfare. The purpose of this essay is to find out whether strict environmental regulation can assist
industries to achieve competitiveness, followed with arguments in favor of or against. The main aim
of strict environmental regulation is to correct environmental damages while the aim of competition
policy is to prevent distortions due to the exploitation and misuse of market power. Environmental
regulations can constitute some form of barriers to entry in certain markets. It actually provides a
predatory behavior in certain markets, which is harmful to competition. Strict environmental
regulation usually results in a price rise to consumers by reducing competition in the market. Strict
environmental regulation can however reduce competition in the market through various channels like
mentioned above, by raising the price they make it difficult for other firms to enter the market and
compete and thus such regulation increases concentration on the part of firms. Strict environmental
regulation also leads to innovation by industries trying to find new ways to differentiate them from
other industries and thus increasing its competitiveness. The form of

This type of growth is important as it helps the child grow and provides a purpose for the child.
Another benefit is that this toy will encourage solitary and active play, types of social patterns and
play, which is vital for child s development. This toy supports skill development through maturation as
children will learn how to play with this toy as they mature cognitively. According to Piaget s idea of
schemas which are created by assimilation and accommodation, the schema for the child in the
preoperational stage will be that they will think that two different shapes of the same colour would
both fit into the same cut out hole in the box, when in fact, they will not. The child then goes through
assimilation, where they will adjust their existing schema and understand that an object can be
classified by more than one feature. The state of the schema is then changed from disequilibrium to
equilibrium. Therefore, this toy is developmentally appropriate to children in the preoperational stage
as it will encourage the child to overcome an issue they face in their age period. PART C:
EVALUATION OF DEVELOPMENTAL THEORY Piaget s Stages of Cognitive Development Aim:
To explain the mechanisms and processes by which the infant, and then the child, develops into an

How Students Learn And Effective Classroom Teaching...
SC2 Demonstrate an understanding of how students learn and effective classroom teaching strategies
and the capacity to work with colleagues to continually improve teaching and learning.
At Mill Park Secondary College (Senior Campus), I have the opportunity to work with a group of Year
10 students on their financial mathematics. The class is made up of 14 boys and 11 girls. And here is a
glimpse of their background. This is a low SES co ed school with an ICSEA value of 984 (My School,
2015a), which is below the national average value of 1000 (ACARA, n.d.). Their numeracy score is
conclusively below the national average score of 580.
Teaching mathematics to these can be challenging as they lack a proper foundation in numeracy.
Some, who lack interests in mathematics, tend to be less cooperative and may endeavour to do as little
as possible. However, research have shown that adolescent are most likely be engaged with a learning
session if they can relate to the content; and more importantly, if they can perceive value in what they
learn.
So, as an introduction to financial mathematics, I decide to immerse them in a real world problem
context: comparison shopping at their local supermarkets. I gave each of them a Coles or a
Woolworths shopping brochure. The students are asked to identify and compare price related
information of two products they buy regularly from either Coles or Woolworths, followed by a short
class discussion to bring them to a greater awareness about the

The Weight Restriction For Muscle Mass During Resistance...
Introduction Over the last few years, there has been an increasing weight lifting culture. Adepts of the
weight lifting community have developed all sorts of theories and training regimens in order to
optimise the gains in muscle mass during resistance training. Unfortunately, many methods developed
by these adepts have not yet been proved to be efficient by any scientific studies. Luckily, some
researchers have studied the responses of muscle protein metabolism to nutrition and exercise and
have enlightened us with knowledge regarding the function and importance of certain nutrients in
protein synthesis (K. Tipton Wolfe, 2001)
When performing resistance training over a period of time, muscular mass can increase (hypertrophy)
in response to the specific stimulus induced on the muscle fibers during the exercise. In order for the
skeletal muscle to grow, net protein synthesis must occur (protein synthesis must exceed protein
breakdown). Net protein synthesis is non achievable if resistance training is performed alone without
the intake of certain dietary nutrients (K. Tipton Wolfe, 2001). Recent evidence has shown that an
increase in circulating amino acids induced by the consumption of certain nutrients following exercise
can increase the net protein balance due to stimulation of muscle protein synthesis (Tang et al., 2007).
Amino acids are the basic unit of protein structure and peptide bonds link amino acids in chains that
take on diverse forms and chemical

Potato Catalase Lab Report
The scientific purpose of this experiment was to examine the rate of enzyme activity of a potato
catalase when mixing 2.5 ml of potato catalyst with either 2.5 ml of H2O, 2.5 ml of 5% salt
concentration, 2.5 ml of 15% salt concentration, or 2.5 ml of 30% salt concentration. It was
hypothesized that the higher the concentration of salt each catalysts solution contained, the rate of
enzyme activity would decrease when applied to hydrogen peroxide. This was tested by measuring (up
to 240 seconds) in room temperature of 21 degrees Celsius how long it would take for each filter disk
(dosed with the various salt and potato catalase solutions) to float off of the bottom of the beaker that
contained hydrogen peroxide. The results of the experiment showed that enzyme activity decreased
with higher salt concentrations, that being in tube four (which contained 2.5 ml of potato catalase and

Essay about week 6 case analysis
Week 6 Case Analysis

1. Harris told Houston that he needed a couple of weeks to think about his proposal. How should
Houston handle this?
Harris is using what is called a time objection also known as stalling technique. In this particular case
study Harris already has the need fulfilled by a different supplier and while they have had a few late
deliveries Harris need to determine if it worth going through all of the work to get set up a new
vendor. The time objection is often one of the hardest objections to gauge because it can mean many
different things. In certain cases changing product can be a major process and can be very time
consuming. With such a major change it is understandable that buyers want to take ... Show more

After uncovering any further objections and gaining an understanding of where Harris sits, Houston
could begin to press and push for a sense of urgency. If Harris did not have any doubts there would be
no need for a two week period to think. Pushing can be a sensitive task because if Houston pushes too
hard he could destroy his relationship and his chance of doing business with the buyer. If all else fails
and the buyer insists on taking time to think Houston should establish a firm follow up appointment as
soon as possible.
3. What techniques should Houston have used to overcome the fore stalling tactic?
There are certain times in which it is impossible to prevent forestalling, but there are things a sales
person can do to try and prevent objections. Utilizing the LAARC method gives is a good step in
combating resistance and objections. The LAARC methods uses five steps to avoid objections which
are to listen, acknowledge, assess, respond and confirm. Listening is always the most important part of
sales. Buyer will often tell you exactly what they are looking for if you keep you mouth shut and
listen. Active listening shows respect as well as arms a sales person will exactly what the buyer is
looking for. Part of active listening is acknowledging what a buyer is saying. If you acknowledge that
it proves that not only are you listening but you are understanding. Assessment is carefully

The Things They Carried, And Big Fish And The American Dream
Patrick Rothfuss, an American writer, once said, It s like everyone tells a story about themselves
inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves
out of that story. Rothfuss explains how storytelling is always a part of everyone. Stories are told in
different ways, and those stories shape the person tremendously. Many of the stories told today are
what shape the audience. In The Things they Carried , by Tim O Brien, and the film Big Fish , directed
by Tim Burton, stories are portrayed to be productive because the characters all have an American
Dream and their stories help the characters achieve tasks to get to their American Dream.
According to Why Americans are Obsessed with Telling their Stories , by Ozy Qi Wang, American
parents regard parent child bonding as the No.1 priority of personal storytelling: They encourage
children to share their stories, pay great attention to and are sympathetic with children s thoughts and
feelings, and create opportunities to re experience the past with children. Americans think it is key to
keep their children s dreams alive, they encourage them at a young age to express how they feel and
what they dream of for their future. Kids grow up used to the idea of sharing their stories and create
more meaningful connections with everyone they encounter. In Big Fish, Edward Bloom told his son
stories growing up to show him that anything is possible. Throughout the film, Ed Bloom got his

Citizens Science Project
Science is such a unique and highly captivating subject that so many young students find interesting
and yet it is also a subject that the vast majority of students get discouraged by as well as lose interest
in as they get older. There are so many different areas of science it is easy to be overwhelmed and get
discouraged if you easily do not understand something. For this reason, I had decided I need to
research a Citizens Science Project that I could bring not only bring into my future classroom but
share with my students and their families as well. Before I began my research, I listed the components
I would need from a Citizens Science Project because there are so many active projects around the
world. To begin, I needed something that would not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

why it is important. For the observations, we will take 20 minutes at the beginning of class to go
outside and observe, write what we observe and in the class that will lead us into our unique lesson
plan for the day. At the end of the lesson, students will have 5 minutes to make a prediction for the
next day.
In conclusion, I chose this Citizens Science Project for my future classroom because of the benefits it
will give my students. I believe that each student will be a scientist and will prepare them for
observing higher education labs, without the intimidation that can happen to many students. This
project will help scientists make predictions about natural disasters and weather patterns, while
simultaneously helping boost my students confidence and interest in science and the world going on

The General Translation Method During The Translation Of...
The general translation method followed during the translation process was a balanced method. In
general words, an interpretative and communicative method, where the ST meaning, function, genre
and effect on the reader are kept but it is absolutely comprehensible for the TT reader. But if we
analyze closely, different styles have been used into several situations, with the balanced one as a
result.
On the one hand, it has to be pointed the literal method, mostly used with different verb tenses in
general. As Lathey (2012) comments on her article about the translation of children literature, role of
tense systems in narrative for children may well reveal cultural differences . In the case of Spanish and
English, both use past tense for narration, while German or French have an historic present. In other
words, verb tenses have been translated using a literal method, with the closest Spanish verb
equivalent. However, some verb tenses are not 100% literal translatable from English to Spanish. That
is when I had a problem. For example, the ing form in English is more common than the gerund in
Spanish (Thinking it was she... = Al pensar que era ella/ Pensando que era ella.).This has been
sometimes an issue, because even if in a literal translation that would be the correct form, is not
normative or idiomatic in Spanish. In short, the general base of the tense (present, past and future) are
translated in a literal way, but when the aspect of the verb is involved, it is

  • 2. The World Trade Center Of The United States On September 11th, 2001, terrorism reached American soil; attacks were specifically made on Lower Manhattan, causing the destruction of every World Trade Center associated building. The attack to this day has still instilled fear of terrorism in our society, and is an event New Yorkers will never forget. Dating back to July 4th, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed in the United States, declaring the thirteen colonies free from Great Britain. It is no coincidence that the new 1 WTC, previously known as the Freedom Tower, reaches its maximum height of 1,776 feet. The name Freedom Tower was originally used to symbolize America as a nation to rise above the attacks on the original towers. Architectures strategically planned out its symbolic height to match up with its specific chosen name of the building. However, the owners decided to change the building name back to One World Trade Center due to the fact that the building was going to be used as an office building and not for marketing. Nonetheless, many people still refer to 1 WTC as the Freedom Tower. Fast forward ten years later from the attack, on September 11th, 2011, the 9/11 Memorial officially opened for public use. The 9/11 Memorial has not only been one of New York s biggest tourist destinations that attracts crowds of thousands on a daily basis, but it has also acted as an area that brings back many memories and emotions for those with any association of that day. With the history of the memorial and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Why Mascots Should Change Their Name The Redskins Should Change Their Name When one typically thinks about a Native American, they picture this ideological representation of a Native American as depicted by popular culture. Native Americans are underrepresented on television, in books, in news, and all other forms of media. We, as a society, have chosen a path of ignorance in which we have chosen not to educate ourselves or our future generations on the true culture of Native Americans. We have ignored the negative impacts of using mascots such as Redskins and instead let it serve as a stereotype to fill our heads with unrealistic views and understandings of Native American culture. The resulting misconceptions leave many Native American students with a feeling of inferiority and questioning their self worth. The lack of accurate representation of Native Americans in our everyday lives has left members of society without more than a stereotype to draw from when thinking about characteristics of Native Americans. Native Americans have relative invisibility in mainstream media and this lets the few inaccurate portrayals, such as a sports team s mascot, have an overwhelming amount of power in forming stereotypes (Fryberg, Markus, Oyserman, Stone, 2008, pg. 208). Many members of society have a very narrow view of what they understand a Native American to look, dress, and act. These ideas mostly come from what they see in media through the caricatures used as mascots, childhood cartoons, and similar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Rhetorical Analysis On Gender Bias Questions for Rhetorical Analysis 1. What historical occasion gives rise to the need for investigation and the creation of this text? Gender Bias is being taught and occurs unintentionally in our schools. Teachers challenge boys more than girls. Sexism is so elusive, it is being taught every day and educators are not even aware they are doing it. 2. Does the author come across as knowledgeable? fair? Does the speaker s reputation convey a certain authority? Author(s) have many case studies, two decades of research, grants for programs, hours of classroom observation and statistical information as evidence. There seemed to be some bias towards the male gender, there was not enough information disclosed about the demographics of the schools or the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 9. What is the structure of the article; how is it arranged? What effect does the structure of the article have, and does this aid or hinder the author s intention? The structure of the article would be Cause and Effect, the article points out serious issues and blames gender bias. The writer explains how being gender bias affects girls, especially in education. The writer could have went more into the cause and effect gender bias has on boys. Teachers might have reason to specifically pay more attention to boys, maybe to keep them engaged. The teacher might know the girls are fine when she turns her back. The rotten boy in the back might whip a spitball at her if she turns her back on the boys, and she knows it. (This was only added for humor) A teacher with gender bias might unintentionally effect how a class participates, if girls are never called during a discussion, they will probably quit raising their hands. 10. • 5. Evolution Of The Immune System And Parasite Virulence The Evolution of the Immune System and Parasite Virulence as a Response to Immunopathology Ryan Thompson Introduction Virulence can be defined as the damage that is cast upon a host by a parasite (Alizon et al., 2009; Sorci 2013). As virulence increases, a parasite becomes more deadly, as it causes more harm to its host (Shudo and Iwasa 2003). The Trade Off theory, the idea that a more virulent parasite tends to be transmitted early on in infection, is often believed to be the main driving force behind the evolution of virulence in parasites (Alizon et al., 2009, Cooper et al., 2002). The problem with the Trade Off theory is that it does not accommodate for the impact of the immune system on virulency as a result of immunopathology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Type 1 cytokines mainly target smaller parasites, like viruses, while Type 2 cytokines target larger parasites, typically worms (Graham, et al., 2005). Some of the first studies of Type 1 cytopathic immune responses were with Tumor Necrosis Factor (Tracey and Cerami, 1994). Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF), a cytokine produced in response to invasion by a parasite, was found to cause tissue damage to the host during its response to a viral invasion, causing a reaction very similar to septic shock (Tracey and Cerami, 1994). For larger infections, Type 2 cytokines are the most common immune response (Graham et al., 2005). While attempting to repair tissue damage caused by worms, these cytokines can often overcorrect the problem, causing fibrosis (Graham et al., 2005). In addition to these cytokine responses, the immune system also implements reactive T cells to help fight off parasites (Aandahl et al., 2004). These T cells can be immunopathic, but they also possess the ability to regulate both cytokine responses and other T cell responses (Aandahl et al., 2004). These regulatory T cells may have evolved as part of the immune system s response to immunopathology. Over time evolution favored T cells that regulate the cytokine response, which helps avoid septic shock, increasing the fitness of the host s immune system. Evolution of the Immune System in Response to Immunopathology Immunopathology has led many scientists to believe that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. 12 Angry Men Essay 12 Angry Men is a film about the dispute among the members of a jury on whether they should convict a teenager of allegedly killing his own father. The jury argues over and over, creating a very tense environment; whilst continuously switching positions on the issue. At the end of the movie, the jury agrees that the boy is not guilty, due to various doubts. However, only one person remained believing he is guilty all throughout the case. At the end of the movie we find out why this person had such a strong belief that the boy was guilty, it was because the person had a bad relationship with his own son and that influenced his beliefs on the case. For this reason, I liked the movie very much. I liked that the movie started with the jury believing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This scene was one of the first strong pieces of evidence in the boy s side, it was the scene about the uniqueness of the knife. I remember this scene clearly because of the character s surprise of bringing a knife that looked exactly like the one used in the murder, and the rest of the jury s dazzled reaction. In this scene a character (member of the jury) asks to see the knife used in the murder, during a discussion, in which the other members of the jury claimed that the boy was guilty because the a knife the boy owned look exactly like the knife in the murder. This agreement was specially relevant to the case because the knife had very unique designs and there were claims form knife sellers supporting the unlikeness of there being two knives of the same appearance. However, the character (Henry Fonda) in this scene does something pretty clever with this information beforehand. As during this discussion he pulls out an exact looking knife to that one used in the murder and proceeds to stab it in the table, in an assured manner. This scene is very interesting because of the characters preparedness for proving his point, since he had bought that knife in the same area that the murder happened. Additionally, what is more impressive were the emotions of the characters, since most were shocked that he found that knife while others were outraged; but what s more intense is the character with the knife confidence in which he drove that knife into the ... In the book, readers follow Billy Pilgrim a time traveling war victim who survived Dresden. War is the worst thing a human can experience because there is nothing intelligent about it, it kills, and it destroys beautiful things. Every smart person has made at least one stupid decision in their life. Kurt Vonnegut has seen what stupid decisions can lead to like the bombing of Dresden which is why he said there is nothing intelligent to say about a massacre , and he s completely correct because what is there to say that could be intelligent about a massacre. For example if someone would try to reason here s probably all they could come up with, number one It was a good use of money no it wasn t no matter how it happened it s still a lot of money to clean up,rebuild,or pay for the cost of ammunition or bombs, Number two It allowed us to disrupt their plans and then what? Ban On Immigration Research Paper A Modest Proposal to Trump Concerning the Ban on Immigration The most recent news coming from Washington is the immigration bill that Donald Trump has just signed into effect. This places a ban on immigration for anyone that is a citizen or naturalized in Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. The problem is that Trump is banning a whole people based upon their country of origin when truly only a very small majority of the people from there are coming for malicious reasons. Although Trump s administration has tried to understate the importance of this act by addressing it as a, temporary pause , citizens of these seven countries have had their lives in America come to a screeching halt (Kennedy, Merit. Show them that this way is beneficial. Or ignore them and prove them wrong through continued success and kindness. I nominate that we lift the ban and instead make contact with the citizens of those countries to help ease tensions and create an atmosphere of tolerance. Bruce Dawe Metaphors Bruce Dawe s poems Katrina , A Victorian Hangman Tells His Love , Homo Suburbiensis and Enter Without So Much As Knocking depict life and death through the use of similar poetic techniques such as metaphors, imagery, onomatopoeia, tone and similes, although, with different circumstances. The events in these four poems evoke emotions within the reader, the most common being sadness and frustration. These emotions are explored, in all four poems, through the tone of melancholy. The use of the melancholic tone in Dawe s poetry enables him to explore life from his poems Homosuberbenisis and Enter Without So Much As Knocking and death through his poems Katrina and A Victorian Hangman Tells His Love . • 11. Meaning Of Attitudinal Loyalty  Attitudinal Loyalty According to Rauyruen and Miller (2007), Attitudinal loyalty is also viewed as the extent of the customer s psychological attachments and attitudinal advocacy towards the organization . The attitudinal definition of loyalty implies that loyalty is a state of mind. By this definition, a customer is loyal to a brand or a company if they have a positive, preferential attitude toward it. They like the company, its products or its brands, and they therefore prefer to buy from it, rather than from the company s competitors. It is all about a consumer having an emotional attachment to a brand, liking it more than others, and even loving it. In purely economic terms, the attitudinal definition of customer loyalty would mean that someone who is willing to pay a premium for Brand A over Brand B, even when the products they represent are virtually equivalent, is loyal to Brand A. But the emphasis is on willingness, rather than on actual behavior, per se. In terms of attitudes, then, increasing a customer s loyalty is virtually equivalent to increasing the customer s preference for the brand. It is closely tied to ... Walt Disney Company And Its International Theme Parks Before discussing the cultural missteps taken by the Walt Disney Company (TWDC) at their international theme parks, a quick overview of the company and its international theme parks will be given. Since the focus of this paper is international theme parks, only a brief history of the American theme parks will be discussed. In the 1970 s after Walt Disney s death, the Walt Disney Company was not doing well financially when the Oriental Land Company (OLC) approached the company about opening a theme park in Tokyo. The Oriental Land Company, according to Raz (1999), author of Riding the Black Ship: Japan and Tokyo Disneyland, is a partnership between two large firms in Japan, the Mitsui Real Estate Development and Keisei Electric Railway (p.4). The Walt Disney Company was hesitant to open a new theme park in its current financial state, but the OLC offered them a deal that was hard to resist. The Oriental Land Company would own and operate the Tokyo Disneyland while the Walt Disney Company would receive 10 percent of admissions fees and 5 percent of the revenues from food and souvenir sales (Raz, 1999, p. 27). The Walt Disney Company also received licensing fees up to 20 million dollars for their characters, attractions, and more, as well as control over the design of the park and control of park operations (Raz, 1999, p. 27; Eisner Schwartz, 1998, p.263). Even with great strides and progressive steps to improve the experience within the education for students with special needs society still does not fully understand what challenges students with special needs face daily. Culture wants to be accepting within its comfort level and does not understand that to help students with special needs or disabilities one must change to the student s level of understanding and comfort. Within observations of general classrooms, it is still apparent that teachers want to accommodate all students, but some are still lacking the understanding and knowledge of how to modify their teaching style to help students with disabilities to reach their maximum potential. Culture is still seeing students with disabilities as being limited within their education not fully understanding that each student has different potential and needs specialized instruction (Personal Communication). Along with games the hardware use to run those games has also evolved to some of the most advanced technology s we know. With this new hardware there are different type of systems classifications like consoles, and high performance gamming computers. Among these two classifications I believe the gamming pc s are better than consoles. Here I am going to go over why I believe this based on price, functions available, control of functionality, choices of games, and community size. To start off let s look at the background of video games and how it evolved in to what it is today. Video gaming started becoming popular around the 1970 s when Atari released their pong arcade machine. (Atari, 99)during this time many first generation consoles started being released which included the Magnavox Odyssey, TV Tennis Electronics, and Home pong. Alongside those consoles home computers were starting to emerge like the commodore VIC 20, and the Amstrad CPC. (Bagnall Melick)Even though video gaming at the time was still in its infancy it was still a large factor in the market for selling of both of these consoles and computers. Also with such a big demand for video games the technology for both video games and the hardware to run video games got better, and cheaper. Both environmental regulation and competitiveness policies are two strong policies that are taken into great consideration. They both aim to prevent market failures and enhance social welfare. The purpose of this essay is to find out whether strict environmental regulation can assist industries to achieve competitiveness, followed with arguments in favor of or against. The main aim of strict environmental regulation is to correct environmental damages while the aim of competition policy is to prevent distortions due to the exploitation and misuse of market power. Environmental regulations can constitute some form of barriers to entry in certain markets. It actually provides a predatory behavior in certain markets, which is harmful to competition. Strict environmental regulation usually results in a price rise to consumers by reducing competition in the market. Strict environmental regulation can however reduce competition in the market through various channels like mentioned above, by raising the price they make it difficult for other firms to enter the market and compete and thus such regulation increases concentration on the part of firms. According to Piaget s idea of schemas which are created by assimilation and accommodation, the schema for the child in the preoperational stage will be that they will think that two different shapes of the same colour would both fit into the same cut out hole in the box, when in fact, they will not. Adepts of the weight lifting community have developed all sorts of theories and training regimens in order to optimise the gains in muscle mass during resistance training. Unfortunately, many methods developed by these adepts have not yet been proved to be efficient by any scientific studies. Luckily, some researchers have studied the responses of muscle protein metabolism to nutrition and exercise and have enlightened us with knowledge regarding the function and importance of certain nutrients in protein synthesis (K. Tipton Wolfe, 2001) When performing resistance training over a period of time, muscular mass can increase (hypertrophy) in response to the specific stimulus induced on the muscle fibers during the exercise. In order for the skeletal muscle to grow, net protein synthesis must occur (protein synthesis must exceed protein breakdown). Net protein synthesis is non achievable if resistance training is performed alone without the intake of certain dietary nutrients (K. Tipton Wolfe, 2001). Recent evidence has shown that an increase in circulating amino acids induced by the consumption of certain nutrients following exercise can increase the net protein balance due to stimulation of muscle protein synthesis (Tang et al., 2007). All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story. Rothfuss explains how storytelling is always a part of everyone. Stories are told in different ways, and those stories shape the person tremendously. Many of the stories told today are what shape the audience. In The Things they Carried , by Tim O Brien, and the film Big Fish , directed by Tim Burton, stories are portrayed to be productive because the characters all have an American Dream and their stories help the characters achieve tasks to get to their American Dream. Americans think it is key to keep their children s dreams alive, they encourage them at a young age to express how they feel and what they dream of for their future. In general words, an interpretative and communicative method, where the ST meaning, function, genre and effect on the reader are kept but it is absolutely comprehensible for the TT reader. But if we analyze closely, different styles have been used into several situations, with the balanced one as a result. On the one hand, it has to be pointed the literal method, mostly used with different verb tenses in general. As Lathey (2012) comments on her article about the translation of children literature, role of tense systems in narrative for children may well reveal cultural differences .
