Father And Son Relationship In Crossing By Mark Slouka
It s normal for fathers and sons that they go out for hunting, fishing or to fight against the nature to
show the mothers that they can do anything. It s even normal that fathers and sons show their
skills to prove something. In this essay Crossing , by Mark Slouka we hear about a father and son
relationship and a trip in the nature to bring the father and soncloser to each other.
The text is about a man who is divorced. The man is going through a hard time. The man is
going out with his son to get a better relationship with him and also to come closer to his son. The
father takes his to a place where the man when he was a kid was with his father. The man had
good experiences there with his father when he was a little boy. The father and ... Show more

The narrator knows what the father is thinking about and what he feels, the narrator also have
access to the fathers emotions. Where had it come from this slide into weakness, this vision of
death... (p. 3. L. 68 69). In the text we don t have access to the boy s thoughts and emotions. The
text is not chronological. The text is based in the past when the father was with his father, and
when the father picked up his son at his mother. The father s thought is really dominating here. An
example on that is. He d been at the house by dawn, as he d promised (p. 2. L. 13) and He could
see him, standing in the river hacking his lungs out, laying out an eighty foot line (p. 2.

When we arrived in the city, we would run to catch the stoplights. At 10:00 we came in the actual
venue which was the Botanical Garden. He introduced his name, Terry. He told us to place our
bags inside so it would be safe and hidden from the Sun. He taught us how to say goodbye and
hello in his language, it was I think Yamaguru. After that, we saw a sandbox which contained
various footprints of native animals such as Kangaroo, Echidna, Snake and Emu and there was
a symbol near a footprint which apparently meant like a meeting place for Aboriginals back then.

Review Of The Of Jesus Christ
Nam: Jonathan Musozo
Writing Style: APA
Course and Section number: THEO 201 B11
Short essay 2 on Christology
For as long as 2000 years millions have asserted Jesus as their rescuer and staked their lives and
their endlessness on His promises. In the story of Jesus Christ is a falsehood then it is
impressively the best and most preposterous scam to ever deify itself and pressure humankind.
However, in the event that it is true, we must choose the option to consider Him important,
neglecting to do as such could cost you everything. Eventually in each of our lives we must face
the subject of Jesus Christ. [1]
It appears that the contentions against Jesus deity are far more noteworthy; nonetheless, there are
some who might argue against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A more dubious and fervently argument is over Jesus deity. Many commentators will inside and out
deny Jesus as God; also, some Christians will deny His divinity too. Some will go similarly as
saying that He was an extraordinary instructor or an ethical man, yet not God. C.S. Lewis addresses
this issue by expressing: A man who was merely a man and said the things Jesus said would not be
a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic on the level with a man who says he is a
poached egg or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man
was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool;
you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God
[2]
The Old Testament anticipated the coming of Jesus in more than 100 particular predictions, which
Jesus satisfied, having no human control to do as such with such accuracy whether
circumstantially or purposefully. In the New Testament, Jesus claimed to be God. These cases
were unmistakably comprehended by His crowd. Along these lines affecting charges of obscenity,
irate responses, endeavors at stoning Him, and eventually His crucifixion. The most strong and
direct claim of holiness can be found in John 8:58 , before Abraham was born, I am! This verse
has been paralleled with the Exodus 3:14 utilization of I AM when God uncovered Himself to
Moses, the correlation confronts the phonetic

Morality In The Road
The Road is an interesting novel that has added to my perspective of morality and how it is
explored in literature. Many books talk about morality, some are specifically about this topic but
most tend to integrate moral questions into their plot. The Road differs in many ways from other
books that explore moral questions. The Road s plot has less action than many books, lending
more of its pages to deeper discussions of moralityafter each event. When exploring the topic of the
frailty of morality many books came at the topic in different ways. The stories that explored this
topic the most were not apocalypse stories, but rather dystopian ones. One common thread to many
of these stories is the journey to a goal, where that journey strains the... Show more content on

Having smaller characters may seem to take away from a story but it actually adds to the
narrative. The man and boy s goal isn t to save the world, they are just focused on survival. In
Invisible Man, the main character is fighting for equality and to change an entire system. In V
for Vendetta, V manages to collapse the government while accepting the inevitable deaths that
will result. By making The Road smaller in scale, the decisions the characters make and the
effects are more detailed, personal and thought provoking. The characters are not on a journey
that must succeed for the greater good. They must face the morality of their actions without
being able to hide behind how important their quest is. At one point in The Road the man kills a
scavenger to save his son s life. This is justified and most stories would pass over this as a
necessary action. Later, after traveling many miles away from where the incident happened, the
boy asks the father if they are still the good guys (p. 77). By making the characters no more
important than anyone else, actions become harder to defend and need to be addressed in more
detail. In many stories spending so much time on the morality of something that is done and can t
be changed would seem out of place. The Road does not give excuses for the characters actions
and always has the

How Did Hernan Cortes Conquer The Aztec Empire
How was Hernan Cortes able to conquer the Aztec empire? How was Hernan Cortes able to

him to travel to the Americas and triumph of the Aztecempire. Such as a prophecy, weaponry,

The Yellow River And The Chinese Nation
The Yellow River is located in Qinghai, China. In the present day it is not very dense in
population. It is a very high altitude called the Tibetan Plateau. It is place of strong Tibetan and
Mongol cultural traditions in present day China. The Yellow River is known by all Chinese
people as the mother river (Wu). It is also agreed upon by almost all Chinese people that it is the
cradle of Chinese civilization and the spiritual home of the Chinese people (Zhou). The Yellow
Riveris the symbol of the Chinese nation, the spirt of the Chinese people, but most importantly
civilization itself. The Yellow River gets its name from the yellowish color of the water. The
water is yellow because each year over 1.6 billion tons of soil flows into the river, which causes
the rise and shifting of the river bed (Wu). Before the damming of the river it was extremely
prone to flooding which in turn caused millions of deaths. The Yellow River flooding is
responsible for the deadliest disaster in human history. It is said the river had changed course
twenty six times between 608 BC and 1938 AD and flooded of fifteen hundred times (Wu). The
Yellow River is not what is used be unfortunately. With the decrease in rainfall in the Yellow
River Basin and also increasing water demands for irrigation purposes the river has dried up
annually since 1972. The longest it ever ran dry was in 1997 for 226 days (Wu). These annual
droughts have brought many challenges to the regions agriculture

Effects Of Global Warming On Human Activity
Statement of the problem:
Nowadays the climate of the Earth is changing rapidly due to the increase of greenhouse gases.
90% of this gases released in environment is due to the human activity by burning of fossil fuels.
Due to the climate change the health sector is affected mainly children, adults and whole
population. The climate change is danger to the health system, the increase in temperature is
causing in heat waves that leads to less rainfall, rise in sea level and flood. Due to this the health
of population is affecting by various diseases like respiratory problems, heart diseases, cancer and
many more. The world health Organization states that the increase in global warming is due to

During the last two decades the respiratory problem has increased in United States due to the
climate factors. The irritants comes from the deserts that travel through by ocean waves which are
increased by the warmer temperatures. Plant pollen has increased which are involved in air that
comes in the form of irritants. Due to this it has resulted in respiratory problems.
It has shown in 2003 the Europe the rise in temperature has killed 40,000 people in six countries.
In India it was around 4000 people who die due to heat waves. In Chicago it was 700 people who
suffered with respiratory problems. It is estimated that if the warming is increased by two degree in
Atlanta results in heat related deaths.
Some researchers stated that blaming activities of human being for destruction is not at all true.
They explained that life has evolved 400 million ago and the amount of co2 was more than 10 times
than now and it had decreased time to time. By this they stated that the human activity is not merely
the main cause. Some researchers argued that human activities and natural process has increased the
greenhouse gases.
Increase in carbon in air and climate change both have an effect in health sector. The consumption
of food which is contaminated with carbons and inhaling the air has increased the body mass. The
changes in climate has shown the stress to the mankind like the disasters which is facing today by
the environment. Increase in weather

A Hose For Mrs Biswas Analysis
of the house indicates a fragment from the self defeating land cringe fort the past and a truthful
recognition and dedication to the present.
With the exception of the spiritual hybridization experienced by the Tulsi, there is the agreement
made by Shekhar in the matter of his marriage. He opposes to having a wife selected for him in
the customary way and intimidates to execute suicide. Likewise W.C.Tuttle drives an agreement
amidst the Hindu Spiritualism creole communities. Above all, the Tulsi considers the shabby
European property at short hills into a n amended form of Hanuman House in a hilarious way.
Mrs Tutsi s house, the Hanuman House represents the orthodoxy and racial betterment of an
individual. On the other hand, the Barrack and Houses represent the captivity of life where Mr.

Hanuman House is the home of the Tutsi group which symbolises the hybrid culture as a result of
colonization. Even though the house enfolds one of the ancient Hindu cultures, their culture is
hybridized by the colonizers through their western lifestyle, faith, language and education. The
western aligned culture of Trinidad destroys the Hindu traditional norms and beliefs. This clash
between the Hindu traditional custom and the western ideology heads to a hybridized culture.
The main character consequently advances from house to house as a victim of hybridization, in
search of his true identity, his own self. This demonstrates not only his agitation and without a
home, his discontent and alienation with surroundings, his feeling of being disconnected and
being ditched off the universe. A House for Mr. Biswas deals with the everlasting search for a
house as home as a place of belonging or his

Analysis Of The Movie Hundred Dollar Baby
Men generally have the gender role to be the care takers, the fighters, and ultimately the manliest
man possible, while women have been thought to be weak and helpless at the sight of danger. In
the 2006 episode Hundred Dollar Baby of the TV show It s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the
male stereotype promotes males as fighters, but also disproves the general stereotype when some
men run away from a fight. Also, the femalestereotype is challenged when a woman wants to fight
her own battles instead of a mandoing it for her. Stereotypically, males typically assume they are
better fighters than women and while fighting, males seem drunk and tend to show off their bodies
by having their shirts off. Right off of the bat, the male... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This goes against the stereotypical male because males generally stay and fight, especially when
saving a woman is involved.
The next day, Mac and Dennis learn of an underground fighting ring and convince Charlie that he
is the strongest man they know and he would be a great fighter. Once again, the show goes
against the male stereotype by having Dennis and Mac make Charlie fight in their place so they
can make money betting. The guys begin to practice fighting as long as they are explicitly
drunk, suggesting that sober males would lose in a fight or would not fight at all. This proposes
that they do not believe they could win a fight or be in one if they were sober, so all three of
them need to be drunk to make it a great fight. Mac, Dennis, and Charlie all agree that the best
way to be a high quality fighter and trainer is to be intoxicated while in action. The male
characters also emphasize that a male must have his shirt off to show off his muscular body
while fighting, just like Rocky and Terminator because they never wore a shirt when they were
training. Charlotte Jiourosek had said that as the athletic body type grew larger, so did the build
of stars like Rocky and Terminator. Just like Rocky and Terminator, today s men look as if they are
from another planet and would have been distasteful before today s age (233 4). In order for men to

In today s society, family has become a very relevant issue amongst Black Canadians. Ideally,
Blacks would enjoy having a nuclear family as most would however, in many cases immigrants
often have transnational families which sometimes results in children having single parents. Not
only does this put them at an economic disadvantage, this also leaves children without a true
sense of security and family, which according to Maslow s hierarchy of needs, prohibits them
progressing towards meeting all of their needs. Moreover, in the educational realm, Black students
are adversely impacted by the scarcity of identifiable Black role models within their own schools.
This in part impacts their future as Most Black youth have a great deal of trouble

The NSF makes it clear that in the past older people and their carers were not always treated with
respect or with dignity. It than goes on to suggest that delivering good care for older people in
hospital requires that staff have the appropriate skills and experience. This care should be
underpinned by fundamental principles that promote dignity (Webster
2004).
Within the UK the nursing code of professional conduct states that
registered nurses must respect they patients and promote and protect the
interests and dignity of patients at all times this emphasises the
importance of respecting the patient as an individual, (Nursing and
Midwifery Council (NMC) 2008).
The care of the older patient involves special expertise for many reasons such as physiological
ageing and the effects of medication may alter the disease presentation; pre existing conditions
may make self care more difficult and the incidence of depression and dementia more common;
and arranging social support for successful discharge requires complex skills. While a patient may

Reaction Paper On Happiness And Happiness
INCOME AND HAPPINESS
The idea of happiness and what makes one happier, is drawing a great deal of scholarly attentions.
Happiness can also be determined by how satisfied one feels in his/her life. Graham, Zhou, and
Zhang (2017), observed that, using data from the Chinese Livelihood survey, mental health hugely
affects happiness, whereas physical health significantly impacts mental health (p.242). Demir
(2010) found that the quality of mother and best friend relationships were the predictors of
happiness among emerging adults without romantic partners, while the quality of romantic
relationship and mother appeared to be the predictors of happiness among those involved in
romantic relationship (p.310). Happiness is also associated with faith and religion, however,
Edling, Rydgren, and Bohman (2014) found no positive affect of religion on happiness, instead,
membership in non religious, social organization, and clubs emerged to be the factors that drive
happiness in a country like Sweden with low aggregate level of religiosity (p.621). Similarly,
decent number of researchers associated happiness with wealth and income. Easterlin (2001) argues
that there is positive relationship between happiness and income over the short run, however, the
level of happiness remains constant among cohorts over the long run due to the equivalent increase
in their material aspiration (p.465 681). In this paper, I will be reviewing Easterlin s

The Day the Music Died
The day the music died was February 3, 1959. On that day three great Rock and Roll artist,
Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. Richardson, died in a tragic plane accident near Clear Lake,
Iowa. This day would mark the end of an era, because those men were the last of a revolution in
music that changed the world. After their death there would not be another true Rock and Roll
phenomenon until the British invasion with the Beatles in 1964. Buddy Holly was only twenty two

The Consequences Of Child Poverty
Child poverty is not only referring to the phenomenon of children living in poverty, but also
experiencing deprivation of the material, spiritual and emotional resources needed to survive,
develop and thrive, leaving them unable to enjoy their rights, achieve their full potential or
participate as full and equal members of society (United Nations, 2007). It seems to be the situation
happening in the developing countries. However, children from developed countries as New Zealand
are also suffering from poverty. Based on the data provided by Child Poverty Monitor, 295,000
Kiwi kids live in households with low income (2016). It is a urgent problem for our future
generations as living in poverty may have strong influence on their future. This... Show more

However, families living in poverty do not have a clean environment to provide for their sick
children, so this very common disease may cause death.
Secondly, discrimination also has strong influences on child poverty. Based on the data provided
by Stats NZ, 2.3% of New Zealanders experience racial discrimination in employment. Pacific,
MДЃori and Asian peoples are more likely to experience racial discrimination in the workplace
than the rest of New Zealanders (2012). This situation can be referred with child poverty as over
almost 50% children in New Zealand living in poverty are Maori. The hardship rates of them are
twice or three times higher than other groups, so they are more likely to live in overpopulated
community and are more likely to be admitted to hospital due to attempt, disregard or ill treatment
(Dyer, 2012). Thus, discrimination is also a strong factor of child poverty. Furthermore, the
consequence of discrimination cannot be ignored; the marginalized minority group may be denied
basic rights to citizenship, such as access to employment, access to education and access to
fundamental living in general. In addition, government forces also play a significant role in the
group s limited access to resource, partly because of unfairness, violent and sometimes abusive
treatments of the group solely based on religion and ethnicity (Sewidan, 2015). The discrimination
observed in NZ has pushed the marginalized

Importance Of Shakespeare In Schools
Shakespeare in Schools
Shakespeare s writing has been taught to most everyone in the modern world. He was a very
influential writer who changed our style of writings today in many ways. His tragedies and
poems have been read and performed for nearly five hundred years. Shakespeare created an
abundance of common words we use everyday such as blanket, and dawn. Who would ve
known? He also created his own type of writing called Shakespearean sonnets. At most schools,
you read several works of his before you graduate, like Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth. High
Schools in America should invariably include William Shakespearein their curriculum at least once
a year. For many reasons Shakespeare is beneficial to teach to everyone at some point in their
life. Most teens do not particularly like reading Shakespeare, but if they choose to comprehend
it, they might like it. In the article Why Read Shakespeare it says, The better you understand
literature, the better you understand life . Michael Mack is making a general statement that
when you understand literature, you will like it more and you will comprehend life better as
well. With this said, you can apply it to reading Shakespeare. Even if it takes a couple of times
reading it to understand, you will enjoy and learn from his works if you just give it time. Also,
most of the themes and emotions revealed in Shakespeare s writings are still relevant today.

Driving And Drinking And Driving
There are already laws in effect that are not being utilized as well as they could be. Sobriety
checkpoints are effective, but only when they are used. There are also interlock systems that can
be installed in a vehicle when a person has been drinking and driving. However, not every person
that is caught drinking and drivingis required to have this system installed in their vehicle. There
is also an idea that if you are involved in an accident the policeman on the scene can ask to see
your phone and if there is proof that you were on your phone at the time of the accident you will
be at fault. Ralph Hingson, director of the Division of Epidemiology and Prevention Research at
the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse states, Meanwhile, some valuable tools are not being used.
Sobriety checkpoints and effective in reducing drinking and driving if they are publicized, so they
can serve as a deterrent, says Hingson (Kinnerly par 19).
If the legal driving age was raised, seatbelt laws were made the priority, speed limits were
lowered, safety features were mandatory in all vehicles, and laws were enforced there would be
fewer accidents. If these ideas were put into action, imagine what the fatality rates would look
like if the leading causes of fatal accidents were fixed or changed. We could fix what self driving
cars claim they will fix without the self driving car its self, making the need for these cars
unnecessary.

being a samurai. Bullied by a couple of ronins one day, Taro ran away and told his master s father,
who sent him to Iida castle with a message for his son (Lord Akiyama). After delivering the
message about the disloyal ronins who had harassed him, Taro became Akiyama s messenger
and befriended Yoshitoki, a young samurai. At age 15, he was sent with Yoshitoki to carry a
message to Tsutsujigasaki Castle. On the way, they escaped from two bandits disguised as
monks. A strange old man invited them into his hut and predicted that neither Lord Oda
Nobunaga nor Lord Takeda Shingen would rule Japan. On their return from the castle, Yoshitoki
and Taro found the hut of the strange man empty and decided that the man had been a ghost.
Lord Akiyama gave Taro back his family name Murakami and presented him with a sword.
Everyone anticipated a huge battle from which either Lord Takeda Shingen or Oda Nobunaga
would emerge as ruler of Japan. When Murakami was 18, Lord Takeda decided to go to war and
Murakami was disappointed to find himself appointed aide to the officer in charge of food
supplies. When a thief tried to steal some rice, Murakami showed both firmness and compassion by
beating him, but not killing him. Murakami won a sword fight with a ronin bandit loyal to Lord

Comparing Daoism And Confucianism
While Daoism and Confucianism are of two different strains of thought they often flow in the same
way like two parallel rivers in governance in aspects of life, in practice the two systems are often
flow be each other to some degree but never interconnect at any points. Confucianism deals with
social matters, while Taoism concerns itself with the search for meaning. They share common
beliefs about man, society, and the universe, although these notions were around long before either
philosophy. Confucianismand Daoism are the two most influential philosophies in China both
having their roots during the Zhou Dynasty The political and social environment that inspired these
schools of thought was the breakdown of the Zhou monarchy and the rise of... Show more content

According to Confucius, each person should act with virtue in all social matters; family,
community, state, and kingdom, to ensure order and unity. Man s virtue in all its forms is called
ren which would make sense but Daoism does not make much sense the ideology in which the
ideal ruler and government do not interfere in the lives of the people and lead them to prosperity of
primitive simplicity by nonaction and focuses on intuitive spontaneity. It is civilization that has
corrupted humanity from its early state of innocence but realistically as a person or society lives
and ages there is no such thing as innocence as one must grow and learn. The sage practices
nonaction, gives up worldly ambitions, and lives a simple life in accord with nature though that one
does. The dedication to right relationships and a solid social order contrast directly with the inner
direct intuition of Taoism. While both philosophies of Confucianism and Taoism may end up with
the same result in having a healthy society, one is taught and can culminate in results while the
other is impeded by environmental variables and through inaction and exclusiveness may cause

Goldust Personality
5 weirdest moments of Goldust s career
Every time a list of bizarre characters who have stepped inside a wrestling ring for any
promotion is made Goldust will feature on top of each and every one of those lists. In September
1995, Goldust debuted as a heel character that played mind games with his adversaries using his
sexually suggestive antics. He used to make coquette and indecent advances towards his
opponents during the matches. Goldust portrayed a character that was a drag queen. He always
wore a golden jump suit and face paint with little splashes of other colours on the jumpsuit and a
golden wig. In those days WWF was pushing the envelope with a risquГ© product and the Goldust

Goldust was a character that was known for his quirky attires throughout his career. In the late
1997, Goldust was paired with an equally crazy valet, Luna Vachon. Though this pairing did not
last for a very long time, it will be known for a lascivious gimmick.
During this short period, Luna brought Goldust to the ring with a chain around his neck and gag
ball in his mouth. Goldust had ditched his golden outfit for a green one. The new outfit even had
silver spikes covering his nipples.
This was a ludicrous act and was not even entertaining. Thank God that the angle was not continued
and is not mentioned on TV as it was the freakiest moment of the Bizarre One s career.
Goldust is one of those characters who had thrived in the Pre PG era. You can still trust him with
sneaking up on people at the most unsuspecting places. He will surely be a WWE Hall of Famer

Geology of Yellowstone Essay
Introduction
It is believed that Native Americans inhabited the lands of what is now Yellowstone National
Park for more than 11,000 years, until approximately 200 years ago, when European settlers
began to drive many of them from their homelands. In 1872 Yellowstone was declared the world s
first national park as a way to preserve and protect the land for the benefit and enjoyment of future
generations. (National Park Service) Yellowstone National Park covers a vast area in the
Northwestern United States. Its landscape is very complex and ever changing thanks to the many
geological forces that are found there. In fact, the unique geological features such as the geysers,
hot springs, steam vents, among many others, are what lead to ... Show more content on

The third eruption happened about 640,000 years ago, and spewed 240 cubic miles of material.
This third eruption created the third and largest of Yellowstone s calderas, Yellowstone Caldera
,
which is 30 by 45 miles in size. The pyroclastic lava flows from this eruption formed the north
wall of the caldera and are visible from the south facing cliffs east of Madison. (Solcomhouse)
This third eruption is said to have vaporized an entire mountain range. Smaller eruptions have also
helped to shape Today s Yellowstone, such as one that occurred 174,000 years ago and created
what is now the West Thumb of Yellowstone Lake. (National Park Service) Many sources say that a
catastrophic eruption, such as those that have formed the three calderas at Yellowstone, is unlikely
during the next several hundred years, but if one such eruption did occur it would devastate much
of the United States and would have the potential to alter the global climate.
Lava flows of rhyolite and basalt have flowed through parts of Yellowstone as recently as 70,000
years ago. These lava flows destroyed everything in their paths while moving slowly at a rate of
a few hundred feet per day, flowing months, or sometimes even several years. They are thick and
cover as much as 130 square miles. They have nearly filled the Yellowstone Caldera, and spilled
beyond the caldera s border. These lava flows are responsible for forming four of the nine named

The Origins of Voodoo Essay
The Origins of Voodoo Voodoo is a religion rich in heritage and founded in faith and community.
The religion has been villainized by western culture and has been wrongly portrayed as
malignant and dangerous. The religion is not founded in any of the (known) black magics or fear
popularized by Hollywood films, but rather it is based on balance and tradition. The religion is
not something that should be encountered with inhibition or fear induced from childhood horror
stories, but embraced for its strength and history. Voodoo originated as an amalgam of African
religions during the slave trade. As slaves were shipped from Africa to the Caribbean, groups of
slaves sharing a similar heritage were broken apart to prevent any sense of... Show more content on

In the three centuries of religious oppression, voodoo became a symbol of pride and
independence for the slaves. Any pride in a slave is, of course, regarded as a threat to the slave
owner. Rumors of human sacrifice and devil worship became prevalent in the social circles of
plantation owners and slave traders. These statements had no validity, but traveled quickly
throughout the Caribbean and America. The practitioners of voodoo embraced this fear as
means to frighten their former masters and gain some respect in a world where they were
deprived of everything. Former slave owners quickly found themselves duped into the beliefs of
voodoo dolls and hexes. Of course, many slave owners simply killed their slaves rather than be
frightened by the voodoo. The practice itself is not actually frightening or powerful in any way,
but that doesn?t matter to superstitious folks like those in Salem. No historical evidence of
human sacrifice or affiliation with Satan has been discovered (Voodoo), or likely ever will be.
Primary religions involved in the African aspect of voodoo are Macumba and Candomble of the
Yoruba people of Nigeria, and several now extinct tribes from the Congos and Cameroon. These
religions lay the groundwork for the course of religious ceremonies and contain the origins for the
deities worshipped in modern voodoo. Voodoo?s principle deity, Olorun is the voodoo equivalent to
God. Though the name can be traced to the Yoruba tribe, it is unknown if

The World s Largest Island
Housing in Greenland Imagine living on or even visiting the world s largest island. When you
hear the word island, you may get a vision of a tropical oasis where you can vacation and sink
your toes into the soft, tan sand and taking a plunge into the clear, blue, warm ocean water. You
may think of palm trees with oceanic views all while having a pina colada in your hand. With
that image in your head, what if I shocked you by saying that the world s largest island is actually
an island that is of climactic extremes, lying mostly within the Arctic Circle, which is covered by
ice and glaciers in the 80% of its self governed land (Caulfield)? Although the climate can vary
greatly in Greenland, the climate is generally subarctic with short, cool summers and extremely
bitter cold winters. Throughout this paper, I will introduce topics such as: the climate of Greenland,
the geography, the history of the country, the different aspects of Greenland s economy, the
different culture that Greenland has, the type of family life located within the country and how all
of these variables impact the actual housing in Greenland. I will then share the actual construction
of houses in Greenland as well as the different architectural and design elements. To begin, it is
important to know the climate of Greenland to understand how it affects what type of materials that
can be used while building and how it affects the overall design elements of homes in Greenland.

Fear And Fear In Stephen Mallatratt s The Woman In Black
Stephen Mallatratt s horror, The Woman in Black is a play within a play depicting two actors,
Arthur Kipps and another young actor, performing a script Kipps had written. The play concerns
Kipps stay at Crythin Gifford and the haunting from a ghostly entity named the Woman in Black.
Through this play s adaptation by Robin Herford, the stagecraft design illustrates emotions of fear,
revenge and mourning to the point of mania through the character of the Woman in Black.
Through Herford s set design in Act I, the audience may observe a mysterious nursery which Kipps
cannot, instilling a heightened fear of events possibly originating from the Woman in Black, even

After Kipps leaves Crythin Gifford to return to London, his wife Stella and young son Joseph
ride a pony and trap at a county fair. The Woman in Black appears before the carriage and scares
the pony, causing it to crash into a tree, killing Stella and Joseph. In this scene in Act II, Herford
opts for a blackout the absence of light foreshadowing the loss of Kipps hope. The only sensory
stimulation for the audience is the sound of Arthur Kipps narrating the tale with sound effects (such
as the startled pony). In otherwise complete darkness and silence, the story s poignancy remains

Anne Bradstreet Essay
Of the three poems to Anne Bradstreet s deceased grandchildren, In Memory of My Dear
Grandchild Anne Bradstreet is the longest. It s interesting that the longest is also written in
memory of the grandchild who shared her name. One would presumably be especially close to
their namesake. The first line of the poem sets the tone: With troubled heart and trembling hand I
write. The younger Anne s death has obviously affected Bradstreet in a deep way and it is easy
to picture her writing these words with a shaking hand and tears in her eyes. Perhaps seeing a
child with her name die reminds Bradstreet of her own mortality, as she is nearing the age of sixty.

As is often evident in Bradstreet s poetry, she is caught between her Puritan belief that she should
not become attached to earthly things, including people, and her natural human desire to love. The
word price is synonymous with the word cost, and it sounds like she is saying that she should
value things according to what they will cost her emotionally. The line also reminds me of the
phrase pay the price, which means to suffer the consequences for risking something. In this case,
the risk is becoming attached to a child who could easily

The Man Jeremiah and his Mission: The Prophet Jeremiah, son of Hilkiah, was of the priesthood
race, and a native of Anathoth, a village in the tribe of Benjamin, within a few miles of
Jerusalem, which had been appointed for the use of the priests, the descendants of Aaron. He was
called to the prophetic office when very young; probably when he was fourteen years of age, and
in the thirteenth of the reign of Josiah, 629 BC. He continued to prophesy till after the destruction
of Jerusalem by the Chaldeans, and about two years afterwards till he died in Egypt. The name

Jeremiah s Ministry: The ministry of Jeremiah really belonged to the last 18 years of Josiah s
reign. Judah s probation was then going on, her salvation still possible; though each year Judah s
guilt became heavier, her condemnation became more certain. However, to the eye of man, her
punishment seemed more remote than ever. Jehoiakim was the willing vassal of Egypt, the
supreme power. No wonder that, being an irreligious man, he scorned all of Jeremiah s
predictions of utter and early ruin. It is no wonder that he destroyed Jeremiah s scroll, as merely
the record of the outpourings of mere fanaticism. It was his last chance, his last offer of mercy:
and as he threw the torn fragments of the scroll onto the fire, he symbolically threw there his
royal house, his doomed city, the Temple, and all the people of the land. It was in this fourth year
of Jehoiakim that Jeremiah boldly foretold the greatness of Nebuchadnezzar s empire, and the
wide limits over which it would extend. This prophecy Jer. 25 placed his life in danger, so that the
Lord hid him and Baruch. When Jeremiah appears again, Nebuchadnezzar was advancing upon
Jerusalem to execute the prophecy contained in. In addition, with the death of Jehoiakim, the first
period of Judah s history was brought to a close. Though Jeremiah remained with Zedekiah, and
tried to influence him for good, yet Jeremiah s mission was over. Jeremiah himself testifies that the

Cardiovascular Disease In Men
Although men had ruled the earth for years together, the male gender is highly susceptible so far
heart disease is concerned . More men are living with and dying of Coronary Heart Disesse
(CHD) than women and have more hospital discharges for Cardiovascular disease ( CVD ) and
CHD. The prevalence of CHD is higher in men within each age stratum until after 75 years of age,
which may contribute to the perception that heartdisease is a man s disease.
The classic risk factors for CVD are the same in women and men, but there are gender differences
in the prevalence of risk factors. Dr Bernadine Healy first introduced the concept of the Yentl

Non Systemic Testimonial Injustice By Miranda Fricker
Non systemic Testimonial Injustice In Testimonial Injustice by Miranda Fricker, she identifies that
there are systemic testimonial injustices and they relate to a common prejudice towards the
speaker. Fricker uses the term testimonial injustice, which is an injustice to someone whom is
unjustly perceived by others to have less knowledge than he/she actually has. An example of a
systemic testimonial injustice would be the accent of a speaker, causing the speaker to receive a
credibility deficit. The speaker is wronged in his/her knowledge as a result of the prejudice
employed against him/her. However, Fricker did not include an exhaustive enough list of
testimonial injustices. More specifically, I argue that Fricker overlooked a... Show more content on

An example of a credibility deficit would be a professor at a university receiving less credibility
and respect of his knowledge due to his accent. His accent could lead the students to believe he
isn t capable to be someone who holds much knowledge. The students doing so wrongs the
professor, and he is receiving testimonial injustice. This type of testimonial injustice is systemic
and not justified as the professor is assumed to have this job because he is properly qualified for
the position. This example is systemic because it contains a connection with a common
prejudice that occurs often in society. People with accents often face prejudice and receive a
credibility deficit as a result. According to Fricker, testimonial injustices occur when identity
power is in play. Identity power is whenever there is an operation of power with shared concepts of
social identities. An example Fricker uses of active identity power is a man silencing a woman
with a joke about her in The Talented Mr. Ripley. There are two types of operations of power
discussed by Fricker. An example of passive identity power is a woman being silenced simply
because she is a woman and feeling like she shouldn t speak out. Identity power can work in a
positive manner or a negative manner. An example of identity power working positively would
be a group of people voting because it s a common practice in their social group. Identity power

Students were supposed to sort traditions as past, present, or both past and present. This was also

Fourth grader students would point to details on our KWL chart, iPad, and picture cards. I

Ethno terrorist groups
How is ethno nationalist terrorism distinguished from other forms of terrorism? Does an ethno
nationalist terrorist threat require a different response to other forms? Answer these questions with
appeal to a) theories and concepts of terrorism, and b) a case study of one terrorist group that has
ethno nationalist characteristics.

Father And Son Relationship In Crossing By Mark Slouka It s normal for fathers and sons that they go out for hunting, fishing or to fight against the nature to show the mothers that they can do anything. It s even normal that fathers and sons show their skills to prove something. In this essay Crossing , by Mark Slouka we hear about a father and son relationship and a trip in the nature to bring the father and soncloser to each other. The text is about a man who is divorced. The man is going through a hard time. The man is going out with his son to get a better relationship with him and also to come closer to his son. The father takes his to a place where the man when he was a kid was with his father. The man had good experiences there with his father when he was a little boy. The father and ... After that, we saw a sandbox which contained various footprints of native animals such as Kangaroo, Echidna, Snake and Emu and there was a symbol near a footprint which apparently meant like a meeting place for Aboriginals back then. Review Of The Of Jesus Christ Nam: Jonathan Musozo Writing Style: APA Course and Section number: THEO 201 B11 Short essay 2 on Christology For as long as 2000 years millions have asserted Jesus as their rescuer and staked their lives and their endlessness on His promises. In the story of Jesus Christ is a falsehood then it is impressively the best and most preposterous scam to ever deify itself and pressure humankind. However, in the event that it is true, we must choose the option to consider Him important, neglecting to do as such could cost you everything. Eventually in each of our lives we must face the subject of Jesus Christ. [1] It appears that the contentions against Jesus deity are far more noteworthy; nonetheless, there are some who might argue against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A more dubious and fervently argument is over Jesus deity. Many commentators will inside and out deny Jesus as God; also, some Christians will deny His divinity too. Some will go similarly as saying that He was an extraordinary instructor or an ethical man, yet not God. C.S. Lewis addresses this issue by expressing: A man who was merely a man and said the things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool; you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God [2] The Old Testament anticipated the coming of Jesus in more than 100 particular predictions, which Jesus satisfied, having no human control to do as such with such accuracy whether circumstantially or purposefully. In the New Testament, Jesus claimed to be God. These cases were unmistakably comprehended by His crowd. Along these lines affecting charges of obscenity, irate responses, endeavors at stoning Him, and eventually His crucifixion. The most strong and direct claim of holiness can be found in John 8:58 , before Abraham was born, I am! • 5. Morality In The Road The Road is an interesting novel that has added to my perspective of morality and how it is explored in literature. Many books talk about morality, some are specifically about this topic but most tend to integrate moral questions into their plot. The Road differs in many ways from other books that explore moral questions. The Road s plot has less action than many books, lending more of its pages to deeper discussions of moralityafter each event. When exploring the topic of the frailty of morality many books came at the topic in different ways. The stories that explored this topic the most were not apocalypse stories, but rather dystopian ones. One common thread to many of these stories is the journey to a goal, where that journey strains the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having smaller characters may seem to take away from a story but it actually adds to the narrative. The man and boy s goal isn t to save the world, they are just focused on survival. In Invisible Man, the main character is fighting for equality and to change an entire system. In V for Vendetta, V manages to collapse the government while accepting the inevitable deaths that will result. By making The Road smaller in scale, the decisions the characters make and the effects are more detailed, personal and thought provoking. The characters are not on a journey that must succeed for the greater good. They must face the morality of their actions without being able to hide behind how important their quest is. At one point in The Road the man kills a scavenger to save his son s life. This is justified and most stories would pass over this as a necessary action. Later, after traveling many miles away from where the incident happened, the boy asks the father if they are still the good guys (p. 77). By making the characters no more important than anyone else, actions become harder to defend and need to be addressed in more detail. In many stories spending so much time on the morality of something that is done and can t be changed would seem out of place. The guys begin to practice fighting as long as they are explicitly drunk, suggesting that sober males would lose in a fight or would not fight at all. This proposes that they do not believe they could win a fight or be in one if they were sober, so all three of them need to be drunk to make it a great fight. Happiness can also be determined by how satisfied one feels in his/her life. Graham, Zhou, and Zhang (2017), observed that, using data from the Chinese Livelihood survey, mental health hugely affects happiness, whereas physical health significantly impacts mental health (p.242). Demir (2010) found that the quality of mother and best friend relationships were the predictors of happiness among emerging adults without romantic partners, while the quality of romantic relationship and mother appeared to be the predictors of happiness among those involved in romantic relationship (p.310). Happiness is also associated with faith and religion, however, Edling, Rydgren, and Bohman (2014) found no positive affect of religion on happiness, instead, membership in non religious, social organization, and clubs emerged to be the factors that drive happiness in a country like Sweden with low aggregate level of religiosity (p.621). Similarly, decent number of researchers associated happiness with wealth and income. Easterlin (2001) argues that there is positive relationship between happiness and income over the short run, however, the level of happiness remains constant among cohorts over the long run due to the equivalent increase in their material aspiration (p.465 681). Pacific, MДЃori and Asian peoples are more likely to experience racial discrimination in the workplace than the rest of New Zealanders (2012). This situation can be referred with child poverty as over almost 50% children in New Zealand living in poverty are Maori. The hardship rates of them are twice or three times higher than other groups, so they are more likely to live in overpopulated community and are more likely to be admitted to hospital due to attempt, disregard or ill treatment (Dyer, 2012). Thus, discrimination is also a strong factor of child poverty. Furthermore, the consequence of discrimination cannot be ignored; the marginalized minority group may be denied basic rights to citizenship, such as access to employment, access to education and access to fundamental living in general. In the three centuries of religious oppression, voodoo became a symbol of pride and independence for the slaves. Any pride in a slave is, of course, regarded as a threat to the slave owner. Rumors of human sacrifice and devil worship became prevalent in the social circles of plantation owners and slave traders. These statements had no validity, but traveled quickly throughout the Caribbean and America. The practitioners of voodoo embraced this fear as means to frighten their former masters and gain some respect in a world where they were deprived of everything. Former slave owners quickly found themselves duped into the beliefs of voodoo dolls and hexes. Of course, many slave owners simply killed their slaves rather than be frightened by the voodoo. With that image in your head, what if I shocked you by saying that the world s largest island is actually an island that is of climactic extremes, lying mostly within the Arctic Circle, which is covered by ice and glaciers in the 80% of its self governed land (Caulfield)? Although the climate can vary greatly in Greenland, the climate is generally subarctic with short, cool summers and extremely bitter cold winters. Throughout this paper, I will introduce topics such as: the climate of Greenland, the geography, the history of the country, the different aspects of Greenland s economy, the different culture that Greenland has, the type of family life located within the country and how all of these variables impact the actual housing in Greenland. I will then share the actual construction of houses in Greenland as well as the different architectural and design elements. To begin, it is important to know the climate of Greenland to understand how it affects what type of materials that can be used while building and how it affects the overall design elements of homes in Greenland. • 29. Fear And Fear In Stephen Mallatratt s The Woman In Black Stephen Mallatratt s horror, The Woman in Black is a play within a play depicting two actors, Arthur Kipps and another young actor, performing a script Kipps had written. The play concerns Kipps stay at Crythin Gifford and the haunting from a ghostly entity named the Woman in Black. Through this play s adaptation by Robin Herford, the stagecraft design illustrates emotions of fear, revenge and mourning to the point of mania through the character of the Woman in Black. Through Herford s set design in Act I, the audience may observe a mysterious nursery which Kipps cannot, instilling a heightened fear of events possibly originating from the Woman in Black, even without her absolute presence. After Kipps leaves Crythin Gifford to return to London, his wife Stella and young son Joseph ride a pony and trap at a county fair. The Woman in Black appears before the carriage and scares the pony, causing it to crash into a tree, killing Stella and Joseph. In this scene in Act II, Herford opts for a blackout the absence of light foreshadowing the loss of Kipps hope. The only sensory stimulation for the audience is the sound of Arthur Kipps narrating the tale with sound effects (such as the startled pony). In otherwise complete darkness and silence, the story s poignancy remains with the audience as they understand they should not watch the brutal event. Through the Woman in Black s actions, Mallatratt identifies her as vengeful to kill another with the reason of grief for her own son instils the idea of manic revenge with the audience. Herford extends the emotions contained in the script, such as grief, to the design of the play the audience clearly understands Kipps spoken message of the extent to which the Woman in Black ventures, frightening the audience further. It s interesting that the longest is also written in memory of the grandchild who shared her name. One would presumably be especially close to their namesake. The first line of the poem sets the tone: With troubled heart and trembling hand I write. The younger Anne s death has obviously affected Bradstreet in a deep way and it is easy to picture her writing these words with a shaking hand and tears in her eyes. Perhaps seeing a child with her name die reminds Bradstreet of her own mortality, as she is nearing the age of sixty. As is often evident in Bradstreet s poetry, she is caught between her Puritan belief that she should not become attached to earthly things, including people, and her natural human desire to love. The word price is synonymous with the word cost, and it sounds like she is saying that she should value things according to what they will cost her emotionally. The line also reminds me of the phrase pay the price, which means to suffer the consequences for risking something. In this case, the risk is becoming attached to a child who could easily ... He was called to the prophetic office when very young; probably when he was fourteen years of age, and in the thirteenth of the reign of Josiah, 629 BC. He continued to prophesy till after the destruction of Jerusalem by the Chaldeans, and about two years afterwards till he died in Egypt. Jeremiah s Ministry: The ministry of Jeremiah really belonged to the last 18 years of Josiah s reign. Judah s probation was then going on, her salvation still possible; though each year Judah s guilt became heavier, her condemnation became more certain. However, to the eye of man, her punishment seemed more remote than ever. Jehoiakim was the willing vassal of Egypt, the supreme power. No wonder that, being an irreligious man, he scorned all of Jeremiah s predictions of utter and early ruin. It is no wonder that he destroyed Jeremiah s scroll, as merely the record of the outpourings of mere fanaticism. It was his last chance, his last offer of mercy: and as he threw the torn fragments of the scroll onto the fire, he symbolically threw there his royal house, his doomed city, the Temple, and all the people of the land. It was in this fourth year of Jehoiakim that Jeremiah boldly foretold the greatness of Nebuchadnezzar s empire, and the wide limits over which it would extend. This prophecy Jer. 25 placed his life in danger, so that the Lord hid him and Baruch. When Jeremiah appears again, Nebuchadnezzar was advancing upon Jerusalem to execute the prophecy contained in. In addition, with the death of Jehoiakim, the first period of Judah s history was brought to a close. Non Systemic Testimonial Injustice By Miranda Fricker Non systemic Testimonial Injustice In Testimonial Injustice by Miranda Fricker, she identifies that there are systemic testimonial injustices and they relate to a common prejudice towards the speaker. Fricker uses the term testimonial injustice, which is an injustice to someone whom is unjustly perceived by others to have less knowledge than he/she actually has. An example of a systemic testimonial injustice would be the accent of a speaker, causing the speaker to receive a credibility deficit. The speaker is wronged in his/her knowledge as a result of the prejudice employed against him/her. However, Fricker did not include an exhaustive enough list of testimonial injustices. An example of a credibility deficit would be a professor at a university receiving less credibility and respect of his knowledge due to his accent. His accent could lead the students to believe he isn t capable to be someone who holds much knowledge. The students doing so wrongs the professor, and he is receiving testimonial injustice. This type of testimonial injustice is systemic and not justified as the professor is assumed to have this job because he is properly qualified for the position. This example is systemic because it contains a connection with a common prejudice that occurs often in society. People with accents often face prejudice and receive a credibility deficit as a result. According to Fricker, testimonial injustices occur when identity power is in play. Identity power is whenever there is an operation of power with shared concepts of social identities. An example Fricker uses of active identity power is a man silencing a woman with a joke about her in The Talented Mr. Ripley. There are two types of operations of power discussed by Fricker. An example of passive identity power is a woman being silenced simply because she is a woman and feeling like she shouldn t speak out.
