Endocrinology Personal Statement
The vagaries of human hormones have interested me since I watched all five of my dad s siblings get
diagnosed with diabetes. Watching adults check their blood sugars and teach each other to use
syringes became routine at family gatherings. I tried to understand how to avoid this seemingly
genetic inheritance was what drew me to pursue medicine in the first place. Now as I look to the next
stage of my education, Endocrinology is the most apt field for me. While reading about a particular
case in the Endocrine clinic, I came across a quote by an Endocrinologist who described the field as, a
discipline that provides continuing intellectual stimulation, pragmatic satisfaction, and great promise
of discovery. This clearly delineated all the attributes of Endocrinology that I look forward to, and my
training thus far has prepared me to take this next step. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am fortunate to have seen interesting cases and even present at the American Society of Nephrology.
While I appreciate each opportunity and learned from the role models I found along the way, I became
most invested in the field of Endocrinology. As a new intern, I quickly realized that the differential for
nearly every patient s chief complaint included a thorough Endocrine evaluation. Seemingly simple
treatment of blood pressure or headache would involve engaging discussions of negative feedback
loops and hormone imbalances. I was convinced that a well rounded medical education required a
thorough understanding of Endocrinology. The comprehensive nature of Endocrinology challenges
physicians to translate basic biochemistry and physiology directly into patient care. The chance to
treat symptoms and pathologies of various organ systems while making on impact on individuals or
even whole communities reminds me daily of why I became a

Same Sex Marriage Defies the Laws of Christianity Essay
Same Sex Marriage Defies the Laws of Christianity
Today in society there are many pressures put upon people by others and their beliefs. One of the
major pressures it puts on people is the pressure of homosexuality and whether it is right or wrong.
Homosexuality is on the rise in the United States as well as many other countries around the world.
Along with the rise of homosexuality is the rise of marriages that are taking place in these socially
incorrect relationships. Throughout the country and in other countries there has been a numerous
increase in the marriages of homosexuals. Same sex marriages defy the laws of Christianity, and it is
immoral in the eyes of society. Homosexuality in all countries has been looked down upon ... Show

Heterosexual marriage has also been known as the best environment for the upbringing of children.
Studies show that most children who are brought up in a household with a mother and a father are
more productive in school and their social life. The environment which offers children the best
opportunity to achieve optimal development is one comprised of their biological mother and father or
a married male and female. It is in the child s best interest that this environment be fostered and
protected. Children do best when they have the personal involvement and material support of a father
and a mother and when both parents fulfill their responsibility to be loving providers. Studies also
show that children brought up in homosexual households have the tendency to have more problems in
school, work, and finding friends who don t look at them differently. Children have a fundamental
liberty interest in receiving the care, companionship and society of both of their natural parents. At
birth, a child has no material possessions and no hope of independent survival. Whether it is
biological, or psychological, the bilateral bond that unites a mother and father to their child is all that
ensures its survival. A child s adolescent years are very influential what type of adult the child turns
out to be in the future. A child s morals are instilled from a young age. Same sex marriages can not

Argumentative Essay About Gay Adoption
Corri Fairfull
Discursive Essay Gay Adoption
Gay adoption is a subject which is widely debated. However over recent years gay adoption has
allowed for most gay couples who want to adopt young children and give them a good quality of life,
which they would have if they lived with their biological parents or a heterosexual couple, to do so.
One positive view of gay adoption is that it gives the gay couple the chance to start their own family
and give a child in care a new start to life in a loving home. This will allow the couple to love and care
for the child just as much as they would if the child was living with their own biological parents. Gay
couples who want to adopt a child will give the same loving family home just like a heterosexual
couple or single parent would. For some children, living with a gay couple may be something they
haven t experienced before. However finding a family who love the child and appreciate them for who
they are, also encouraging them with all aspects of their life and supporting them all the way through
their life is what matters most to children.
Another positive view about gay adoption is that it means a child in care will receive the opportunity
to get the benefit of new parents who are going to give them the best possible life with parents who
are healthy, in a stable relationship and have a good financial support system in place. Since there are
many children up for adoption, gay couples often adopt children who are older as babies

Human Papillomavirus Research Paper
The role of Human papillomavirus (HPV) as a necessary cause of cervical and other genitoanal
cancers has been established based on epidemiological and molecular research (1). HPV vaccines
targeting high risk HPV types 16 and 18, and low risk types 6 and 11 have been demonstrated as
protective against persistent infection, and hence carcinogenesis (2).
Introduction
Sexually transmitted infection with Human papillomavirus (HPV) is very common, with
approximately 50% of sexually active women having at least one HPV infection in the first 5 years
following the initiation of sexual activity (3). HPV infection is considered necessary, though not
sufficient, in order to develop cervical cancer. Evidence shows that almost all cervical cancers contain
HPV DNA, and that the attributable risk of infection for cervical cancer is higher than that of smoking
and lung cancer (6). Despite HPV being most commonly associated with cervical cancer, the virus is
capable of causing a number of cancers and benign lesions of the genitoanal region in both men and
women (4, 5). There are over 100 different genotypes of HPV based on the gene coding for the L1
capsid protein, of which can be further classified into either high risk oncogenic types, or low risk
types (1, 5) . Of those considered high risk, HPV 16 and 18 are the ... Show more content on

able to establish an immune response and effectively clear the infection within 2 years (5, 7). Those
individuals who are unable to clear infection of a high risk HPV genotype are at risk of the
development of pre cursor lesions and if untreated, invasive carcinoma (5,

much is required when working on a body toning regiment. Relax and persevere because a pleasant

Comparing Aristotle s Virtue Ethics And J. S. Mill
The first thing is to talk about what is ethics? Understanding it is the best thing to do. Ethical theories
are grouped into four main groups. Main types are Aristotle s Virtue Ethics, Aquinas s Natural Law

important to us and each has an understanding.

Mexican Social Realists and Harlem Renaissance
Mexican Social Realists and Harlem Renaissance
Poverty has always been an issue throughout centuries. In most areas living conditions were horrible
due to wars, and corruption within cities and states. Most families lost their male sons to the draft of
the war at the ages of 6 years or older. Families struggled and did what they had to, to maintain a
home as well as food for their families. Because of this Social Realism was successful. Social Realism
was an international movement that many artists and composers where a part of. This movement
highlights inequalities of capitalism, and gave the chance to these artists and composers to express
everyday living conditions of the working class and the poor through their work. Diego Rivera is one
of those artists that through his work showed the struggle of the poor, he was one of the most famous
muralists in the Mexican Social Realism. The Harlem Renaissance was known as the New Negro
Movement where African Americans where forced out of Southern states to the urban areas due to the
Great Migration. Jacob Lawrence was one of those that expressed his thought on the Great Migration
describing it as the push and pull factors.
Diego Rivera was known for a muralist of the Mexican Social Realism. This movement was the
brutality of WWI. It attacked capitalist. Rivera was a communist, he believed in the common
ownership in social, political, and economic ideology that strived to maintain social order. One

Increasing the Approval Ratings for President Obama
What Should I do To Increase My Approval Rating?
Introduction
When my iPhone said The White House I thought it was the local restaurant I had made reservations
over the weekend for my parent s anniversary. There was a very stern voice that said President Obama
needs your opinion on the current approval ratings, please hold for the President of the United States
of America ¦and we thank you for your service ¦ Wow! President Obama wanted advice on how to
improve his approval rating. I laid out my three point plan I have long been advocating throughout the
debates (I have had with my family and friends).
Three Point Plan to Increase Approval Ratings The most critical area of President Obama s approval
rating has to do with the economy. To get America back to work as quickly as possible I proposed he
immediately create new venture economic opportunity zones throughout the U.S., concentrating on
those areas hardest hit by the recession. I d focus specifically on Ohio, which has lost hundreds of
thousands of jobs. My plan would be to roll out entrepreneurial assistance to new ventures with a solid
business plan, and also a strong management team. Creating and fostering entrepreneurialism is
critical for the overall successful functioning of a complex economy such as the U.S. (Trimi, Berbegal
Mirabent, 463). I would tell him that he also needs to become known as the Entrepreneurial
Candidate, concentrating on small business and immediately removing the many barriers

Space Rocket Research Paper
As humanity prepares to move from the earth to other planets it must do it safely. A manned mission
to Mars is the next step in the human exploration of space. The major hurdles to accomplish this feat
are vast and varying in type. You must define and insure the architecture for your launch, spacecraft,
travel to and from Mars, and of course astronaut safety. An effective mission architecture must provide
a particular kind of balance between accomplishing the critical parameters and being prepared. This
paper will cover how the architecture is designed for success towards transporting humans through
space, landing them on Mars, and returning them safely home.

This includes providing oxygen, food, and physical substitutes for lack of gravity. Oxygen supplies are
a large problem that, without it, the astronauts will never make it long in space or on Mars. During
transit, the Spacecraft will be pressurized without using an artificial gravity; due to the complexity.
The astronauts will be able to float from section to section without requiring their spacesuit. Although
in the event of pressure loss or a hull breach, they will be able to put on their spacesuits to survive.
The most efficient way to reduce the loss of muscle, from lack of gravity, is to require daily exercise
regiments by the crew. Since, Mars has no oxygen astronauts on Mars would have to walk around in
their space suits and make sure that they have enough oxygen. The only other option is to stay in the
Lander Vehicle; which will have oxygen and not require spacesuits to be

this little information about him. Muna was also told that his father was a Heike warrior, which brings

The novel portrays the feudal system of Japan by giving details of how the feudal structure is formed
during this time and gives a lot of information on people that ruled during that time. The novel goes
into detail about how lords rule Japan and how owning land is how people had power in Japan back
then. The novel also accurately portrays how this conflict over power between the lords of the lands

invasion of the Genji with Yoshitomo as their leader. The Sign Of The Chrysanthemum also manages
to accurately depict the events of this battle between Lord Kiyomori and the Taira against the
Yoshitomoand the Genji. This battle was a bloody one, which put Taria in control of the country, but
actually does not resolve the conflict between the clans. In this novel Paterson writes about a boy that
grows up into a man through his experiences in the city, but still manages to take the time period in
Japan and imply these situations into his life. The use of the feudal structure and military historical

Emotional Intelligence On Human Resources
Emotional Intelligence in Human Resources Emotional Intelligence is a key role for success in the
workplace, and it is vital for Human Resource Managers. Human Resources Managers deal with
people daily, and Emotional Intelligence should be used in all cases. The ability to know your own
emotions and recognize the emotions of others helps in the communication process with other
individuals. Management, as well as employees, must exhibit high emotional intelligence in order for
the company to grow and function at its highest profitability. As with any other component of a
company, emotional intelligence must be the most prevalent in management. Human Resources

As environment changes, as it does quite often in the workplace, the person with high emotional
intelligence can adapt consequently. A person with low emotional intelligence is less equipped to face
dilemmas inside or outside the workplace. A high emotional intelligence gives those employees and
managers the advantage of accepting a negative situation and doing everything possible to create a
positive outcome. In the workplace, situations that are overly stressful are bound to arise and one with
low emotional intelligence will more than likely remain stagnant, not knowing how to handle the
mountain of stress to achieve the goal.
Emotional Intelligence in Recruiting
While searching for new employees, Human Resource Managers must keep an array of necessary
skills in the forefront of their mind. More recently, Human Resource Managers are starting to demand
employees display a relatively high emotional intelligence along with a high IQ, job experience,
stability, and the right personality (Thygesen, 2014). By hiring a person with an already high

The Biggest Slippery Slope-Personal Narrative
I was running down the field against Inter Lakes biggest rival Moultonborough. As the ball floats
through the air heading towards the goalie I know I can reach, but I knew it would be close. As I
approached the now rolling ball, I realize that the goalie would make it just before me. Desperate for a
goal I go to the last resort and decide to slide for the ball. I slide as quickly as possible which resulted
in me getting the slightest of touch on the ball that it slips past the goalie. I now realized that I had a
chance to score the goal I had worked for since the beginning of the game. With the goalie out of
position, I go to propel my body back up with my hand. As my hand hits the frozen fall ground it bent
back and the sound of my bone braking ran through my body.
I have to get back up and score the goal my brain was saying but my body was in shock and I laid

2.1.1 Building the team
Tuckman (1965) suggested that there are 4 stages of development that a team will go through which
are forming, storming, norming and performing. The first stage forming is when people come together
to get to know each other and try to avoid conflict at the same time. During this stage there should be
no obvious issues for the manager because people are just trying to get to know each other and trying
to learn what to do next. On the other hand the situation on the following stages could be more
challenging. During the storming stage employee will start to have conflict with each other. These
conflicts could be caused by differences in culture and working style in previous company where
employee may find hard to adopt. If the problems were not fix properly then it is possible that the
team can stay together any longer. The third stage is when team members had overcome all the
conflicts and members started to bind together where they will be supportive and respect each other.
The general manager should be alerted at all times even at this stage because may be people
compromise only due to the fear of losing their job. They will then reluctant to share ideas that might
improve the performance because it might just create another possible conflict.

Gender Equality And Gender Discrimination Essay
Gender equality? Is it really a time in modern day age when women are considered to be equal to men
or do women still have a long way to go? Throughout history men have been the dominant gender and
women have been thought to be less than the man. Men have held positions of power and authority
while women have hidden in the shadows of men. In the 21st century, women have made great strides
in attempts to be treated equally as men but are still treated differently. This modern day society
believes gender equality exists but in reality, there is clearly an inequality amongst people creating
negative stereotype gender roles, sexually degrading and gender discrimination towards women. The
21st century has seen a dramatic shift in traditional family dynamics and has pulled apart gender role
divisions. During World War II men dutifully joined the military and women went to work in the
factories, taking on occupations that were traditionally held by men. When the war ended, women
returned to their traditional roles as wives and mothers (Winograd, 2016). Women began to realize that
they too, can carry out roles of the men. As the years began to change so did the thoughts and ideas of
women. Women now believe that men and women should be treated as equals, and women have every
right to be in the position of traditional men roles. Winograd (2016) explains that women are refusing
to accept any restrictions based on their gender...on what they might be allowed to do and what

The United States briefly supported the Taliban, hoping it would restore order in the war ravaged
country after Soviet war in Afghanistan. Taliban movement traces its origin to the Pakistani trained

What were the unintended consequences for the United States of Taliban rule in Afghanistan?
The Taliban is known for having provided safe haven to al Qaeda and its leader Osama bin Laden, as
well as for its rigid interpretation of Islamic law, under which it publicly executed criminals and
outlawed the education of women. Though the group has been out of power for several years, it
remains resilient in the region and operates parallel governance structures aimed at undermining the
U.S. backed central government.

The Major Classical Theorists Influenced The Economics Of...
Three major classical theorists have attempted to interpret why societies change. They are Adam
Smith, Max Weber, and Karl Marx (Franks, 35). These three have inspired a lot of people down the
years. Adam Smith is known as the theoretical father of modern economics. In 1776, Smith argued
that the invisible hand of the market would change the economics of a nation and it would make the
nation better. In his invisible hand theory, he states that if one person strived to achieve success, then
the person would simultaneously benefit people around him. The prices and quality will be determined
by relationships between consumers and sellers through supply and demand (Franks, 34). In other
words, the market will not be regulated by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The history of Marxism is controversial, and the ideas have influenced a lot of men and women to
address social issues. Karl Marx stated that the occurrence of capitalism brought humanity a necessary
step closer to socialism and the conquest of human inequality (Frank, 30). This is an inevitable part of
the development of human society.
According to scholar Mario Barrera, traditional Marxists thinks that a class is a group of people who
have a similar relationship in things that they use in their daily lives, such as food, houses, and
appliances (Franks, 30). Also, Marxists address that each society has its own particular class structure.
In addition, Marxists have defined three primary classes that currently exist in a capitalist social
system, and they can be found in the United States. The first group of classes consists of capitalists,
people who own and control an enormous proportion of productive property in the United States.
Having productive property means being able to produce products, such as producing products that
people demand. In this case, capitalists are wealthy because they hold an overwhelming amount of
productive property.
The second group of classes consists of workers, people who have cars, computers. cell phones, and
homes, but they own little of productive property. The reason is that most of their income comes from
their wages, salaries, and tips. They do not own company themselves. The third group of classes
compose by the bourgeoisie, who

Acknowledging History s Mistakes of Blackface Minstrelsy
To consider something to be forgotten, good or bad, history loses its definition and becomes distorted
with fiction. If you can t acknowledge history s mistakes you can t develop and grow as a society. To
forget blackface minstrelsy would mean to forget such a vast part of early American history and a part
of the early development American popular culture. You could say to a more extreme extent it would
be like the western world forgetting slavery of the native Africans or even the Spanish forgetting how
they single handedly caused the demise of the Inca civilization. Even though these parts of history
could be forgotten because of there matter of sensitively. We as a society must acknowledge our
history in all its flaws no matter how sensitive or uncomfortable the subject is to people today. It was
something that helped culturally raise a nation that didn t know better. As tasteless as blackface
appears by todays standard it still does hold a influence on the American entertainment industry and
how black characters are portrayed in mainstream films and other entertainment.
Even through blackface has not been part of American entertainment for some time now there is still a
wide use of certain characters and stereotypes that show links to the early entertainment.
So even thought something like blackface is viewed racist and old fashion its still holds a firm
foundation in American entertainment.

The Characteristics Of Leonardo Da Vinci s The Dwarf
Leonardo da Vinci was a very intellectual man who had a sparking curiosity in the history about
people and life. He contributed so much to the field of physiology. It is believed that almost all of his
paintings are based on the anatomical structure behind it. Da Vinci was interested in studying the
formation of living things. He is fascinated by the human anatomy.
Leonardo learned anatomy initially from the old Greeks and Romans. Leonardo immersed himself in
human post mortem examinations. He critically examined 30 human corpses at a time when nobody
was performing these examinations. He went from fetuses to babyhood to old age. He wanted to

He was so fascinated by what he doing...nothing else was seemed to exist for him except his
nauseating occupation. His face was as delighted as though he were at a festival. This piece of
evidence strongly supports my claim because it directly states the observation and description on Da

is a character in a novel, a more detailed and vivid image is imprinted in the brain of the reader
(Lagerkvist 65, 36, 37, 39).
Anatomy took a large part in the three years it took to create and perfect Mona Lisa s smile. Da Vinci
spent hours in the morgue studying many cadavers and pulling off their skin to revel the muscles
around the mouth. He was intrigued to know how a smile forms, but was more astonished and curious
about the relationship between the brain and the nervous system. He experienced difficulties for the

an angry facial expression. Make the nostrils drawn up, causing furrows in the side of the nose, and
the lips arched to disclose the upper teeth, with the teeth parted in order to shriek lamentations. Mona

Rescuer Persuasive Essay
Every good citizen makes his country s honor his own, and cherishes it not only as precious but as
sacred. He is willing to risk his life in its defense and is conscious that he gains protection while he

people from danger.
Yes, I think rescuers should rescue people even at risk. First, because it s their job, they get paid for
that. Second, because if they don t rescue people in need who will. Lastly, it s their duty, we need
heros and rescuers with brilliant machines to help those in need.
Rescuers are heros alive or dead but the fact they must accept is that people smart or dumb will climb
the mountain and take a risk, and rescuers have to be aware just incase somethings happens.
According to the text Everyone is aware of the risk....But actually, risk is part of the attraction it makes

What Does God Mean To Me Essay
God is everywhere, God watches and cares for you and is something different to everyone. To me,
God is a higher power that is always there to comfort you and forgives you no matter what. God
watches over you, protects you, and cares for you. Whenever I am either confused or in need of some
advice, I know that God is always there to help me. Additionally, the images and ideas that I have
about God are that God is in everything. He is in the plants and nature s beauty, and in dogs and other
living things. I know I see God in things when I need the advice. For example, when I have a hard day
and I come home and my dog is excited to see me, I see that God is watching out for me and wants me
to realize that someone or something is always excited to see me. It helps me see the glass half full
instead of half empty. Lastly, some significant events that have shaped my view of God and who he is
to me are hiking and school. Whenever I go hiking and see the beauty around me that God has created
in this world, I change my view on him and realize the beauty God creates. Additionally, when I go to
school my image of God changes too. In class, whenever other people bring up their perspectives of
God and where they see him, I think back to my image of God and how what someone said affects my
image or changes it. Overall, God is a provider and someone who watches over me through nature and

is so groundbreaking in the fact that it actually has the ability to affect human beings in so many ways.
Music is a huge advantage in a treatment plan as it is calming, strengthening and it can be used for

This component is why it s a smarter choice then pharmaceutical drugs. Humans have a physiological
response to music. The way a person can get chills from music, the way heartbeats are effected, and
breathing are all proof of the physical response music has on human beings. Musical Therapists are
just trained to use this beneficially. They are trained to use music to elicit the desired effect on people.
From birth brains are able to process music, there s been research showing that day old infants have
the ability to notice differences in rhythmic patterns. This is why lullabies have an effect on babies,
and why being rocked rhythmically calms babies, this trick has been used with babies even before
language existed. This readiness to respond to music is why children dance and sing at such young
ages, and it s why music therapy for young children is just as productive as music therapy for adults.
Music is also strongly attached with memories. Often times people relate songs with times in their life.
Music is second to smell in this ability to stimulate memory. This quality of music can be taken
advantage of with patients who are in depressive states due to mental or physical reasoning, to bring
back happier memories or allow them to mentally be somewhere else.
There is proof behind this theory that music helps heal, it s not just a concept people choice to believe.

Industrialization And New Immigration Essay
Industrialization, Workers, and the New Immigration Immigrants coped with the conditions as they
found them in America s brimming cities in two major ways. First, and less importantly, they often
connected to the political machines that dominated cities in those days, around the 1890s. These
machines eased the workload placed upon the immigrants and made the environment more suitable to
thrive in; in return, the immigrants voted for the machinery. Some workers would look at the
machinery and call them wonderful monsters, strong enough to lift mountains. Second, and more
importantly, immigrants organized their own communities. Due to the physical conditions, language
barriers, and psychological strains of moving to a new country, immigrants tended to group together
with people of their home country. Small enclaves formed in many cities where everyone spoke their
language and had similar customs. (QUOTE ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Paraphilia s Theory Of Sexual Deviance
Sexual deviance is considered any sexual activity that is different than the normal, acceptable sexual
activities of a society, but is vital for the person to experience arousal and orgasm (Sadock, 2007). The
activities that are considered deviant can change over time and be different in different societies.
These are also known as paraphilias. A paraphilia involves an extreme and continual sexual interest in
children, objects, animals, materials, etc. or harming oneself or others during sexual activity.

Painting At The Oklahoma City Museum Of Art
On September 4, 2016, I visited the Matisse in His Time exhibit at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.
This exhibit is home to a plethora of pieces by many different European artists from the 19th and 20th
centuries. While it is focused on Matisse and his extensive works, containing more than 50 of his
pieces, there are many portraits and sculptures by other influential artists from that time period
including Renoir, Picasso, and Georges Braque. Three of the most appealing works that I encountered
in this exhibit are Maurice de Vlaminck s Portrait of Père Bouju, Pablo Picasso s Reclining Woman on
a Blue Divan, and Henri Matisse s sculpture series Henriette I, Henriette II, and Henriette III.
One of the most visually intriguing pieces in the exhibit is the Portrait of Père Bouju by Maurice de
Vlaminck. It was painted around the year 1900 by the French artist. It is not particularly beautiful by
normal standards. At first glance, the texture of the paint stands out more than any other feature. It has
very strongly defined brush strokes and thick paint in portions, especially the face of the man and the
background. The lines in the paint are mostly straight, short, and wide with some that are thinner and
wavy, like the smoke. The man is in the center of the canvas, he is the only discernable image, and he
is almost devoid of detail aside from the face and the hat. The colors are almost entirely neutral aside
from the red scarf. In this oil on canvas portrait the man is wearing a

Negative emotions may undermine a negotiator s ability to analyze the situation accurately, which
adversely affects individual s outcomes. (Lewicki, J. R., Barry, B., Saunders, M. D., 2011). Due to
problems between Smith and Schmidt, Peter Smith resigned from the board in December 1991.
Immediately, following his departure the board approved of a $55 million capital project for
construction of MCA s new facility, $37.5 million of which was guaranteed by the board. The Smiths

Interest align vs. opposing the position
When two people take opposite sides on any particular issue in a dispute, they both often refuse to
budge from their divergent viewpoints. Most likely outcome is a stalemate. If a solution is found then
both will win. Negotiation interests largely relate to basic human needs. They are powerful influences
in our decision making processes. Interests not only include those tangible desires which correspond
to the specific problem at hand such as increasing sales or productivity. They also link to our more
basic human emotions that are less obvious to the participants (Negotiations).

not give it justice. There was an abundant amount of trading and bartering that happened between
white slave owners. We were not many days in the merchant s custody before we were sold after their
usual manner. (Page 4) The slaves were thought of and treated

The Serial Podcast, By Sarah Koenig
Adnan Syed is accused of murdering his ex girlfriend, and various factors present him as a very likely
suspect. Information put together by the state don t add up, but instead prove he is innocent. Is Adnan
guilty or innocent for his ex girlfriend s death? In the Serial Podcast, journalist Sarah Koenig discusses
the case, committed almost seventeen years ago, and uncovers new evidence that indicates Adnan s
innocence. Adnan Syed has been viewed as a boyfriend, honor roll student, and a murderer. Many
described him as a smart, flirtatious, and a likable high schooler. On January 13, 1999, his ex
girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, was murdered. Investigators immediately assumed Adnan as the primary
suspect because Hae had broken up with him, a month ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wasn t. I was like he s a p...I m trying to conv explain I m seventeen, like He s a player! He has a
lot of girls! (Episode 2: The Breakup p. 37). Undoubtedly, Koenig asserts an exceptional point, Adnan
is popular among the females in his school and he most likely isn t completely devastated by their
breakup. Although he was a bit emotional, he moved on. Others also advocated a similar statement,
But nearly everyone I ve spoke with, Adnan s friends and teachers say he took the breakup like anyone
would. Adnan s friend Mac Francis said Adnan initially was devastated and jealous about the new
boyfriend. Said he grumbled about it in a typical guy way, nothing strange. Everyone I talked to said
some version of this, that he wasn t rage filled or vindictive. He was just sad (Episode 2: The Breakup
p. 36). Sarah Koenig asked many people and none of them announced anything extreme between
Adnan and Hae after their breakup. After analyzing these pieces of evidence, one can infer the claim
of being upset over Hae isn t verified through anyone. Another component to Adnan s innocence
would be Asia McClain and the library. Thereafter, a witness, Asia McClain, had physically spoken to
Adnan when he allegedly murdered Hae. Asia McClain was a high schooler that attended Adnan s
school and composed a couple letters to him after he was arrested. One of these letters reads, Dear
Adnan I hope I

Attention Deficit Disorder
Attention Deficit Disorder History In 1845, Dr. Hendrick Hoffman first person to describe Attention
Deficit Disorder. Dr. Hoffman was also a poet who wrote stories for his three year old son. Hendrick s
story, The Story of the Fidgety Philip accurately described a little boy who had Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder (What is ADHD). During the early 1900 s, Sir George Still, a British
pediatrician, published lectures to the Royal College of Physicians in England (What is ADHD). He
described the condition as an abnormal defect of moral control in children and stated that it was
caused by a genetic dysfunction (Holland). In 1980, the American Psychological Association revised
the name of the disorder from hyperkinetic impulse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The disorder s name has changed due to scientific advances and field trials that were conducted.
AD/HD (A.D.D or ADHD) is not one specific disorder because it comes with variations. It is now
divided into three subtypes, based off of the main features that are associated with the disorder:
impulsivity, hyperactivity, and inattentiveness (Attention Deficit Disorder). The subtypes of AD/HD
are the Predominantly Combined Type, Predominantly Inattentive Type, and Predominantly
Hyperactive Impulsive Type. The Predominantly Combined type of ADHD is the most common out of
the three. Individuals who have this type have symptoms from Predominantly Inattentive ADHD and
Predominantly Hyperactive Impulsive ADHD (Types of ADHD). Some symptoms include not
listening and being unable to follow or understand instructions, whether simple or easy. Predominantly
Inattentive ADHD has symptoms such not paying attention to detail, being distracted or forgetful, and
avoiding tasks that involve effort (Types of ADHD). In order to be diagnosed with this type of ADHD,
one must have at least six of the nine symptoms as well as a few of the Hyperactive Impulsive Type of
ADHD. The Hyperactive Impulsive type deals with symptoms such as fidgeting, squirming, and
speaking too much (Types of ADHD). Once again, to be diagnosed, one must have six symptoms and
a few of the Inattentive

Ted Talk Essay
When it comes to choice it always seems to be a love hate relationship: we hate making them, but we
can t live without them. Anyone can all look back to a time in our lives where they wish someone
could just pick for us, or times when we wish there were more to choose from. All Americans have
many choices, and it is such a part of our daily lives that we don t even realize it. Barry Schwartz and
Sheena Iyengar s TED talks bring up interesting ideas about choice, how people deal with them and
their affects. They both state that although choice is good, it can also have negative effects. Schwartz
explains what most people believe and experience with choice, while Iyengar shows cultural
differences in choice making. Both Schwartz and Iyengar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second is the more choices the more likely that the best choice can be made, and the third
assumption is that you should never say no to choice. Iyengard evaluates these three assumptions with
various studies where one group is American and the other is another culture. Her studies help
understand why and how Americans make choices in comparison to the rest of the world. Without
doubt, Iyengard s studies and analysis on choice is interesting but Schwartz s was clearer because it
easily communicated the message that was more applicable to the public. Choices are an important
part of everyone s lives and the choices we make can reflex who we are as individuals. Choice and the
ability to choose are excellent and can represent a sense of freedom. Schwartz s and Iyengard s
analysis on choice focused on the effects of choice in people and how people react and deal with it.
Schwartz s Official Dogma and explanation of how Americans act in response to choice making is the
most relatable to individuals and clearly chows the consequences of too much choice. His analysis can
assist to people realize that maybe because we have more choice doesn t necessarily mean we will
make us happier or the best decision will be made. Understanding the consequences of too much
choice can possibly make individuals improve the negative effects it can have and make us happier

  • 2. Endocrinology Personal Statement The vagaries of human hormones have interested me since I watched all five of my dad s siblings get diagnosed with diabetes. Watching adults check their blood sugars and teach each other to use syringes became routine at family gatherings. I tried to understand how to avoid this seemingly genetic inheritance was what drew me to pursue medicine in the first place. Now as I look to the next stage of my education, Endocrinology is the most apt field for me. While reading about a particular case in the Endocrine clinic, I came across a quote by an Endocrinologist who described the field as, a discipline that provides continuing intellectual stimulation, pragmatic satisfaction, and great promise of discovery. This clearly delineated all the attributes of Endocrinology that I look forward to, and my training thus far has prepared me to take this next step. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am fortunate to have seen interesting cases and even present at the American Society of Nephrology. While I appreciate each opportunity and learned from the role models I found along the way, I became most invested in the field of Endocrinology. As a new intern, I quickly realized that the differential for nearly every patient s chief complaint included a thorough Endocrine evaluation. Seemingly simple treatment of blood pressure or headache would involve engaging discussions of negative feedback loops and hormone imbalances. I was convinced that a well rounded medical education required a thorough understanding of Endocrinology. The comprehensive nature of Endocrinology challenges physicians to translate basic biochemistry and physiology directly into patient care. The chance to treat symptoms and pathologies of various organ systems while making on impact on individuals or even whole communities reminds me daily of why I became a ... One of the major pressures it puts on people is the pressure of homosexuality and whether it is right or wrong. Homosexuality is on the rise in the United States as well as many other countries around the world. Along with the rise of homosexuality is the rise of marriages that are taking place in these socially incorrect relationships. Throughout the country and in other countries there has been a numerous increase in the marriages of homosexuals. Same sex marriages defy the laws of Christianity, and it is immoral in the eyes of society. Homosexuality in all countries has been looked down upon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Heterosexual marriage has also been known as the best environment for the upbringing of children. Studies show that most children who are brought up in a household with a mother and a father are more productive in school and their social life. The environment which offers children the best opportunity to achieve optimal development is one comprised of their biological mother and father or a married male and female. It is in the child s best interest that this environment be fostered and protected. Children do best when they have the personal involvement and material support of a father and a mother and when both parents fulfill their responsibility to be loving providers. Studies also show that children brought up in homosexual households have the tendency to have more problems in school, work, and finding friends who don t look at them differently. Children have a fundamental liberty interest in receiving the care, companionship and society of both of their natural parents. At birth, a child has no material possessions and no hope of independent survival. Whether it is biological, or psychological, the bilateral bond that unites a mother and father to their child is all that ensures its survival. A child s adolescent years are very influential what type of adult the child turns out to be in the future. A child s morals are instilled from a young age. Same sex marriages can not instill ... • 4. Argumentative Essay About Gay Adoption Corri Fairfull Discursive Essay Gay Adoption Gay adoption is a subject which is widely debated. However over recent years gay adoption has allowed for most gay couples who want to adopt young children and give them a good quality of life, which they would have if they lived with their biological parents or a heterosexual couple, to do so. One positive view of gay adoption is that it gives the gay couple the chance to start their own family and give a child in care a new start to life in a loving home. This will allow the couple to love and care for the child just as much as they would if the child was living with their own biological parents. Gay couples who want to adopt a child will give the same loving family home just like a heterosexual couple or single parent would. For some children, living with a gay couple may be something they haven t experienced before. However finding a family who love the child and appreciate them for who they are, also encouraging them with all aspects of their life and supporting them all the way through their life is what matters most to children. Another positive view about gay adoption is that it means a child in care will receive the opportunity to get the benefit of new parents who are going to give them the best possible life with parents who are healthy, in a stable relationship and have a good financial support system in place. Since there are many children up for adoption, gay couples often adopt children who are older as babies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Human Papillomavirus Research Paper The role of Human papillomavirus (HPV) as a necessary cause of cervical and other genitoanal cancers has been established based on epidemiological and molecular research (1). HPV vaccines targeting high risk HPV types 16 and 18, and low risk types 6 and 11 have been demonstrated as protective against persistent infection, and hence carcinogenesis (2). Introduction Sexually transmitted infection with Human papillomavirus (HPV) is very common, with approximately 50% of sexually active women having at least one HPV infection in the first 5 years following the initiation of sexual activity (3). HPV infection is considered necessary, though not sufficient, in order to develop cervical cancer. Evidence shows that almost all cervical cancers contain HPV DNA, and that the attributable risk of infection for cervical cancer is higher than that of smoking and lung cancer (6). • 19. Gender Equality And Gender Discrimination Essay Gender equality? Is it really a time in modern day age when women are considered to be equal to men or do women still have a long way to go? Throughout history men have been the dominant gender and women have been thought to be less than the man. Men have held positions of power and authority while women have hidden in the shadows of men. In the 21st century, women have made great strides in attempts to be treated equally as men but are still treated differently. This modern day society believes gender equality exists but in reality, there is clearly an inequality amongst people creating negative stereotype gender roles, sexually degrading and gender discrimination towards women. The 21st century has seen a dramatic shift in traditional family dynamics and has pulled apart gender role divisions. During World War II men dutifully joined the military and women went to work in the factories, taking on occupations that were traditionally held by men. When the war ended, women returned to their traditional roles as wives and mothers (Winograd, 2016). Women began to realize that they too, can carry out roles of the men. As the years began to change so did the thoughts and ideas of women. Karl Marx stated that the occurrence of capitalism brought humanity a necessary step closer to socialism and the conquest of human inequality (Frank, 30). This is an inevitable part of the development of human society. According to scholar Mario Barrera, traditional Marxists thinks that a class is a group of people who have a similar relationship in things that they use in their daily lives, such as food, houses, and appliances (Franks, 30). Also, Marxists address that each society has its own particular class structure. In addition, Marxists have defined three primary classes that currently exist in a capitalist social system, and they can be found in the United States. The first group of classes consists of capitalists, people who own and control an enormous proportion of productive property in the United States. Having productive property means being able to produce products, such as producing products that people demand. He was intrigued to know how a smile forms, but was more astonished and curious about the relationship between the brain and the nervous system. He experienced difficulties for the lips are small and the nerves go deep into the body. He kept a journal with sketches he made of his observations. One drawing included the dissection of two arms and hands; he then placed them next to different face profiles. He is willing to risk his life in its defense and is conscious that he gains protection while he gives it Andrew Jackson. This quote proves that a rescuer is willing to risk his life to save and protect people from danger. Yes, I think rescuers should rescue people even at risk. First, because it s their job, they get paid for that. Second, because if they don t rescue people in need who will. Lastly, it s their duty, we need heros and rescuers with brilliant machines to help those in need. Rescuers are heros alive or dead but the fact they must accept is that people smart or dumb will climb the mountain and take a risk, and rescuers have to be aware just incase somethings happens. According to the text Everyone is aware of the risk....But actually, risk is part of the attraction it makes it more of a test it gives you more to aim for ( Moreau, lines 56 58)This quote means that people will take the risk no matter what and they take the climb as a challenge. To me, God is a higher power that is always there to comfort you and forgives you no matter what. God watches over you, protects you, and cares for you. Whenever I am either confused or in need of some advice, I know that God is always there to help me. Additionally, the images and ideas that I have about God are that God is in everything. He is in the plants and nature s beauty, and in dogs and other living things. I know I see God in things when I need the advice. For example, when I have a hard day and I come home and my dog is excited to see me, I see that God is watching out for me and wants me to realize that someone or something is always excited to see me. It helps me see the glass half full instead of half empty. Lastly, some significant events that have shaped my view of God and who he is to me are hiking and school. Whenever I go hiking and see the beauty around me that God has created in this world, I change my view on him and realize the beauty God creates. Additionally, when I go to school my image of God changes too. In class, whenever other people bring up their perspectives of God and where they see him, I think back to my image of God and how what someone said affects my image or changes it. Overall, God is a provider and someone who watches over me through nature and other living things. Additionally, throughout our world, there are many issues that the Catholic ...
