Group Work
We ve all been there where you were assigned different members to work with that do not cooperate
or work hard enough. People around us believe that group projects are fun and can be exciting to work
with others, but this is not the case. I am strongly against group work, from the different opinions, to
the time management, and the slackers who do not do any of the work but still get credit. The different
personalities and opinions of the group members creates many complications during the process of
getting the work finished. Firstly, there are the different viewpoints in the group that make it hard to
cooperate with one another. In groups, there are different personalities, making it hard to fit everyone s
ideas into the project. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Slackers are the people in the group who lack the effort to do anything in the group. These people will
just run around the room, acting like animals, and will not try to get any work done, thinking that you
will do it for them. These individuals will mess with your plans in anyway possible, whether it be the
construction of the project, or the pieces of the project you assign to each member. These people will
give you lousy excuses for not finishing their part of the project, and make the rest of the group
agitated. They will also ruin your grade on this project. Unless you want to stay up all night to do their
work to salvage you and your teammates grades, you will not be getting a good grade if you are
missing things that the slacker decided they did not need to do. Even if you have people who are
frustrating, there are the people who will work with you and want a good grade as badly as you do.
These people will work with you to try to finish the project and cooperate with you. But even if you
have these especially exceptional people, there are still the people who will fight with you with
everything and will not work at all. Group work is the worst part of school, with the people who do
not cooperate and work, the time management, and the different opinions. I believe that you should
tell your teachers that you do not like nor understand the meaning of group work, so that they may
reconsider this teaching method. All in all, group work is horrible and not a great system to work with

Who Is Shrek An Anti Hero
DreamWorks Oscar winning movie from 2001, Shrek is a computer animated adventure comedy film
that cleverly and humorously corresponds with traditional fairy tales while criticizing the impossible
standards that are negotiated through them. Although children oriented, some of the jokes in the movie
were clearly adult oriented.
The green ogre is an anti hero who want nothing more than being left alone in his swamp, but his life
is turned upside down when other fairy tale characters are banished from Lord Fraquaad s realm and
find refuge on his property. In his quest to become a king, the lord decides he will marry Princess
Fiona, who is locked away in a tower and guarded by a dragon. Farquaad agrees to take back the fairy
tale characters if Shrek delivers Princess Fiona to him, and the ogre along with his new friend donkey
accept the quest. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Separated after a misunderstanding the ogre returns to his cave, but donkey convinces him to stop the
wedding and get his true love. Getting to the wedding just in time and confessing his true love, he
kisses Fiona after the sun sets while in ogre form, which leaves her an ogre forever, but just as
beautiful in Shrek s eyes.
The witty dialogue and the innovative moral of the movie are equally responsible for the huge
popularity it enjoys, and reminding your children that bravery and honesty are more important than
appearance and will be rewarded with true love is easier than ever when you buy them a Shrek

The Role Of Clothes In The Victorian Era
Victorian Dress Alexander Mcqueen once said, It s an era in fashion There are no rules. It s all about
the individual and personal style, wearing high end, low end, classic labels, and up designers together.
In the Victorian Era there was a lot going on especially for the rich. If you were rich you had
glamorous tea parties and nice clothes, shoes, hair, makeup and everything else that rian had to do with
your body. If you were poor you did not have the glamorous lifestyle or clothes.
Women in the Victorian Era women dressed very extravagant. There were all kinds of different clothes
and things that mattered because of your wealth. The rich woman would wear huge dresses. They
sometimes would wear a wooden skirt under there dress to make the round shape. They would also
wear corsets that they would tie super tight. These corsets would make their waist very small; because
men liked the skinny waist in a woman. Over the corsets and hooped skirts they would pull over a
dress. Some dresses may of been made out of lace, silk,or ruffles. Women would wear very humble
clothing. All the dresses were very out there they had very well stitching and hard work paid into it.

occasions. The corset had a lot of issues but women didn t care or may not of known. Also another

The Great Divorce and The Divine Comedy
The cultural impact of Dante s Divine Comedy is widely seen through a sundry of literary works,
television programs, films and even video games. Yet, one of the most prominent works the Divine
Comedy has impacted is C.S. Lewis s The Great Divorce. Lewis s book is greatly indebted to Dante s
work, as both try to teach the reader how to achieve salvation. Furthermore, Lewis and Dante s
protagonists discover the path to salvation through choices, and learning what causes one s refusal of
God. Both authors explore the path to righteousness and enquire about life s most difficult questions.
Therefore, the dialogue between Dante s Divine Comedy and C.S. Lewis s The Great Divorce is
witnessed through the conception of the distortion of love, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Lewis s text however is written in prose, presenting various places ranging from the gray town to the
valley of the shadow of life , which are Lewis s depictions of hell and the foothills of heaven
respectively. Nevertheless, Matthew Swift, citing Alan Lee Brewer s dissertation states that, Despite
radical structural differences, Lewis s afterlife seems to mirror Dante s afterlife as the direct product of
continued choice (Brewer 213 214, 218 219) (Swift 9). Therefore, though the structures are dissimilar
in most regards, including the author s approaches to the process of purging one s self of sin, the texts
are in dialogue with one another, simply due to the fact that Lewis s work was created based on Dante
s epic vision.
Moreover, the vision of Dante s emphasizes how distorted love or excess is punished, because
distorted love is a form of hubris. The hubris or exaggerated pride is punished because it alters the
ascent to love or communion with God. Therefore, Dante s pilgrim travels through Hell, Purgatory,
and Heaven to see the perfection of God s justice and journey towards a higher understanding of love.
In order to understand God s justice, Dante the pilgrim must first understand the degradation of man
and the punishments of sin. However, the torment of sinners causes Dante to question how a loving
God would allow people to suffer, but as Allan H. Gilbert asserts, Dante s answer is that these
sufferings counteract man s tendency

was. I don t know, she replied when asked how much she had to drink. She was barely able to put the
car in park and seemed more concerned about tying her shoelaces than the test or her serious situation.
Questions which often arise when determining if someone is driving under the influence are: Does the
person answer the officer s question or exhibit a stream of consciousness talking that bears no relation
to the question? Does the person appear to be disheveled or unable to stay alert? (Gaensslen, R.E.,

The African American Struggle for Civil Rights in the 1960 s
In what ways, and for what reasons, did the African American struggle for civil rights in the United
States change between the early and late 1960s?
The civil rights movement was an influential movement that has been taking place in America for
many years. Victories during this time helped to raise hope for African Americans during this
influential movement. In the beginning of the movement there was a focus on nonviolence, and the
non violent techniques began to pay off in the early 1960s. As the time progressed the struggle for
African Americans during the civil rights in the United States. Towards the ending of the period hope
was lost when major civil rights activists were assassinated. In the early 1960s non violent techniques
began to pay off with sit ins, marches and other forms of protest. For example, on May 4th, 1961, 13
young activists traveled through the south known as the freedom rides. This was nonviolent, and this
was effective. Also, four African American students in North Carolina started a Sit In in a segregated
Woolworth s lunch counter. The students were not served and workers refused to serves them. The
students stayed at the counter because they were allowed to stay there, but were refused service. Many
others in the south protested in similar ways, and 6 months later they were finally served in the diner.
These non violent sit in were effective during this period. Nonviolence became less effective and
groups like the Black Panther Party came

How The Struggle In Rocket Boys And The Glass Castle
Anne Frank once said, The final forming of a person s character lies in their own hands. While their
childhood and the opinions of others have some impact, a person has just as much power to decide
who they want to be, as proven in the memoirs Rocket Boys by Homer H. Hickam and The Glass
Castle by Jeannette Walls. These protagonists are validation that despite outside pressures, a person
can grow up to be anyone they want to be. Similarly, for Homer Sonny Hickam of Rocket Boys,
working in Coalwood s coal mines seems essentially inevitable, since the town focuses on a small
range of activities. Hickam states that, Only coal mining was more important in Coalwood than high
school football. Sputnik, and anything else, was going to always ... Show more content on

In defiance of his father s wishes, Sonny continues to build rockets and gradually make something of
himself outside of Coalwood, proving that he was in control of his future. In the same fashion,
Jeannette Walls reaches beyond what others expect of her in The Glass Castle. The Walls children
faced many hardships throughout their childhood. Due to their lack of money, their houses were
almost always inadequate. One example of this is their house in Welch, West Virginia. The house is
described as rustic, but in reality, lacked indoor plumbing and heating. In the winter, It got so cold in
the house that icicles hung from the kitchen ceiling, the water in the sink turned into a block of solid
ice, and dirty dishes were stuck there as if they d been cemented in place (Walls 176). In the
meantime, their parents, Rex and Rosemary, were not like most, and refused to conform to any
standards society had for them. They taught self sufficiency , which often meant not working and
wasting the little money they did have. While Rex did attempt to find a job, Rosemary blamed the
children for the inadequate funds. [Jeannette] can earn

magical devices. One of the very first devices used in the series appears in the first book and is one of
the main components to the book and a driving role in the plot even giving the book a title. That
device is the Philosopher s stone, also known as the Sorcerer s stone. An extraordinary alchemist in
the wizarding world and long time friend of Albus Dumbledore, Nicolas Flame, created the stone. The
stone is used to create the Elixir of Life potion. When someone drinks the Elixir of Life their life is

and the troll which attacks Hermione in the bathroom brought in by Professor Quirrell. All seven
creatures or enchantments work to protect the stone from Voldemort. However, throughout the year,
Harry, Hermione, and Ron become suspicious of Snape and think that he is going to try and steal the
treasured stone. Acting on their suspicions the three friends get past the seven complications Harry
ends up having to duel Lord Voldemort and Professor Quirrell, who Voldemort was actually using to
get to the stone. Harry defeats them both, Quirrell s life is lost and Lord Voldemort is diminished from
this world again. After the battle Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel decide to destroy the stone so that
Voldemort could not get ahold of it at a later date. Since the stone is what was keeping Nicolas Flamel
and his wife alive, they both ended up dying with the destruction of the stone. Like many other aspects
of the Potter series, the Philosopher s Stone has many political links. The most evident display of
political styles seen in the stone is perfectionism. The stone s main uses are for

The Talented Mr.Ripley
The Struggle of the Mind The Psychoanalytic Theory is a means of literary critique which provides a
framework for insightful character analysis. Its tenet is based on Sigmund Freud s structural model of
the psyche which identifies the id, the ego and the superego as the three theoretical constructs in terms
of whose activity and interaction mental life is described. According to such model, the irrational,
instinctual trends of the mind are the id; the rational, realistic part of the psyche is the ego; and its
critical and moralizing function is the superego. By applying such Freudian concepts to Tom Ripley,
the protagonist in Patricia Highsmith s The Talented Mr. Ripley, the reader is better able to understand

His common sense tells him that, ...if he only hadn t been in such a hurry and so greedy, if he only
hadn t misjudged the relationship between Dickie and Marge so stupidly, or had simply waited for
them to separate of their own volition, then none of this would have happened, and he could have
lived with Dickie for the rest of his life, travelled and lived and enjoyed living for the rest of his life.
(Highsmith 137)
Tom s ego helps him to understand that he cannot always get what he wants immediately and that if he
had compromised and waited, he might have been happier, and it is this realization that makes him
feel isolated and alone. By the end of the novel, Tom s ego resurfaces and he changes his attitude
toward others. While before he only thought of what he wanted, he now ...was inspired to spend hours
with [Mrs. Cartwright] in the deck chair, talking to her and listening to her talk about her life in
England and Greece... (Highsmith 267) As Tom realizes that the evidence that has been unveiled thus
far in the murders is pointing towards his guilt, he begins to reason that his new life may come to an
end and he recognizes other people s solitude because he too feels the same way. While Tom s id and
ego are at odds with each other, his superego never fully develops for he sometimes experiences guilt
for his wrongdoings but does not accept full responsibility

using irony. Which also shows that he might be bragging to

The Phenomena Of Osmosis, Discovered By Rjh Dutrochet
Background information
The phenomena of osmosis, discovered by RJH Dutrochet in 1826, has been a significant area of
interest in biology since. Osmosis is the process of diffusing water molecules through a selectively
permeable membrane to dilute solutions with high concentrations of solutes until that solution has the
same concentration as the solution on the other side of the membrane (Freeman, n.d., p. 96 99). An
important component of osmosis is diffusion, which is when molecules or ions in the presence of a
concentration gradient move from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration (Borg,
2003, p. 13). The purpose is to have the same concentration of solutes on both sides of the membrane
and this process generally occurs when the solute causing the concentration gradient is unable to
traverse the selectively permeable membrane. Moreover, it is an example of passive transport,
meaning that it doesn t require energy (ATP).
WeThe original aim of this experiment was to observe and understand the effects of osmosis by
placing a slice of potato in both hypertonic and hypotonic solutions. The objectives have since been
expanded to include observing the effects of a sugary hypertonic solution (sucrose solution) in
addition to the previously used salty hypertonic solution (NaCl). It is unsure if the two solutions will
generate similar outcomes or if one of the two will be more effective in conducting osmosis.
Additional variables that will be added in the

The unusual concept of Jeremiah call to be a prophet was that he had to speak. Jeremiah chapters1

Studying the Energy Industry in University
I am interested in the scientific, economical and business aspects of the energy industry, as they not
only have a big impact on our daily lives, but our future. I know that I would like to be part of this
important and growing enterprise in a way that connects science and business. I would l be happy to
study either at University, while developing my skills of the other simultaneously.
Geology is a science that fascinates me as am hugely interested in how and why Earth was formed the
way it was, and the factors involved, from the beginning to the present day. As oil and gas supplies run
out, renewable energy that can provide large amounts of power is becoming sought after, and geology
is a field that contributes hugely to the energy sector and is certainly needed for renewable energy as
well as fossil fuels. Another reason I love geology is the fact that there are so many different types:
glaciology, hydrology, meteorology etc., all of which I am keen to learn about, particularly
geochemistry as it studies at a molecular level. Likewise, the biology involved also fascinates me, as it
includes learning about how geological change affects life on earth.
However, without business management, the energy industry would not be able to operate and make
the money needed for funding valuable research that could help solve our future problems. I feel that
having good business skills gives you the ability to think strategically and make the best decisions.

Estrogen Therapy Essay
The idea of using large doses of estrogen to permanently seal the epiphyseal, or growth plates began in
the 1940 s and 1950 s. It was originally used to treat children with acromegaly, or excessive growth
disorder caused by the pituitary gland producing excessive growth hormone, GH.(6) When the growth
plates are closed at an early age it can reduce a height by several inches. In 2006, the intentions of this
type of treatment drastically changed. Douglas Diekema, who was the director of education at the
Treuman Katz Center for Pediatric Bioethics at the Seattle Children s Hospital, and Daniel Gunther, a
endocrinologist, announced in the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine a new use of
estrogen therapy. This time though, it was for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was argued how the health care system is moving towards fully adopting evidence based medicine,
yet Gunther and Deikema offered no evidence that Ashely or any other child would actually benefit
from the treatment. Estrogen therapy for growth attenuation is considered a new innovative therapy or
off label treatment using an approved drug, but the AAIDD claims there have be no other studies to
date that have tracked these outcomes, including complications, and long term effects of its use. (7)
The National Catholic Partnership on Disability put emphasis on the risks of thrombosis and seizures
associated with high estrogen levels and the lack of rigorous clinical trials testing this treatment. There
is also concern for the additional health risks related to weight gain and short stature and the effects
that will come from it. Lastly, the article touched on the slippery slope of medical decision making.
Once the decision was made to start estrogen therapy and compromise growth, it then became
incredibly easier for doctors and parents to partake in an invasive hysterectomy without considering
the moral and ethical objections.

Warfarin Therapy Research Paper
There has been much debate between physicians about the need for heparin or a low molecular weight
heparin (LMWH) use when initiating warfarin therapy for anticoagulation. The use of heparin or a
LMWH when initiating warfarin therapy has been justified by a theoretical possibility of a transient
hypercoaguable state from the warfarin use. Many physicians believe that the only safe and effective
way to start a patient on warfarin is with the use of one of these heparins, however, the
hypercoaguable state is just a theoretical possibility. Also, heparin bridging must be done in a hospital
where the levels can be monitored, while a LMWH can be done at home, but is usually relatively
expensive and requires the patient to give themselves injections. ... Show more content on

Azoulay, Dell Aniello, Simon, Renoux, and Suissa (2013) performed a post hoc nested control
analysis using the United Kingdom s clinical practice research datalink database of 70,766 patients
aged 18 years and older, who were diagnosed with atrial fibrillation between 1993 and 2008. Patients
with less than one year of medical history in the database, as well as patients with a history of mitral
or aortic valve repair or replacement, or patients with a history of hyperthyroidism were excluded
from the study. By using conditional logistic regression, Azoulay et al. (2013) was able to determine
that there was a 71% increase of stroke during the first 30 days of warfarin treatment, with a decreased
risk after the first 30 days. Azoulay et al. (2013) goes on to conclude that warfarin naïve patients
(patients who have never taken warfarin previously) with atrial fibrillation might have a greater
increased risk for thrombotic events during the first 30 days of warfarin initiation. Therefore, the study
concluded that the increased clotting risk may be due to a warfarin induced hypercoaguable state, or it
may be due to the extended time interval it takes for a therapeutic INR to be achieved by
inexperienced warfarin

Due to the fact that age can make it harder to become fluent in a language, his accent never went
away. I did noticed some lexical borrowing when he tried to say something in Spanish, he pretty much
made up an English word into Spanish, which it was more like Spanglish type of deal. For example,
instead of saying relationship , he would say relachion or money to monero. I thought it was funny
and he was just joking, but he was actually serious. I corrected him and asked if he knew he was
wrong; he said he kind of knew, but that every time he makes up words, it makes his customers laugh,
and that laughter always creates money in his business. As mentioned in Multiple Voices , not all
bilinguals use both skills in all context or even means that the person is able to be proficient on both
languages. Also, he falls into the vertical multilingualism category due to the fact that he lives in an
urban area and has to interact with people who speak different languages. I believe societies are
multilingual because of minorities that live in the United States and speak English, which is the
dominant language group in America. Therefore, Raj was able to shift from his L1 to L2 (English), to
L3 (Spanish) (Myers Scotton, C. (2006). Multiple voices: An introduction to bilingualism. Malden,

Who I Can t Love My Step Family
Who said I can t love my step family? Society has given blended families or (step family) a negative
connotation, they do not believe step parents and children can have quality relationships.
Relationships are important within the family and play a pivotal role in helping children grow
physically, mentally, and cognitively, which is crucial for development (Kostelnik, Whiren, Soderman,
Gregory, 2009, p.184). Urie Bronfenbrenner states, a family consists of systems that interacts with one
another to and with the individuals over time to influence development (Sigelman, Rider, 2015). What

On a national average, 5.1 percent of children under 18 live in a household with at least one step
parent (Kreider, 2003, p. 2). Society, as well as media, has given very little credit to blended families
or the positive impact it could have on a child. Moreover, families start out with a negative influences
that can take destroy their sense of hope. Older children more so than younger children, go into the
new relationship with a negative attitude, behavior issues, and resentment toward their step parent and
sometimes the biological parent (Kostelnik, Whiren, Soderman, Gregory, 2009, p.184). Competition
usually occurs between all parties, (step) parent/child, (biological) parent/child. The biological dyad
usually wins the competition because of their knowledge, history and interaction that they have built
together and attachment that has taken place earlier in life (Dupuis, 2007; Pappernow, 1987).
However, stepfamilies are not given the time to develop attachments with one another. The
reorganization of the family is taking place, a two parent home can bring financial security, less stress,
which allows parents to be happier, more nurturing and able to display proper guidance techniques.
Adults possess the skills to build and maintain positive relationships with multiple individuals at once.
Children do not have that ability, but they do have the ability to love more than one adult at a time,
especially if the adult in questions shows reciprocation

What Happened To Make My Hair Fall Out Research Paper
But I m a woman, what happened to make my hair fall out?
If you are a woman and you have lost your hair or you re in the process of losing it, you may have
already gone through the many stages that are involved. For instance, when you noticed more than
usual hair in your brush, did you convince yourself it was just your imagination?
Upon awakening one morning, did it appear as though someone had given you a haircut while you
were sleeping due to all the hair on your pillow?
Even then, were you still completely in denial and convinced yourself that it s just a temporary
situation or a phase your hair is going through? It won t last long so I ll just wear my hair different

Post pregnancy Hormonal changes sometimes cause hair loss. A woman s body does so much for the
baby during pregnancy and when the pregnancy is over and the baby is no longer there, the body goes
through a multitude of hormonal changes, so this can sometimes lead to excessive hair loss.
Fortunately, it s normally a temporary situation.
Hereditary If one of your parents lost their hair, there s a good chance yours is hereditary. Try not to
give them a hard time about it, they didn t give it to you on purpose.
Stress No surprise here. Stress is the culprit in many of our bodies disruptions. Thinning or loss of hair
can certainly be one of them. It s a Catch 22 situation because stress causes hair loss and losing our
hair gives us stress.
Unhealthy diet A diet low in protein can be one of those reason for hair loss that can definitely be
rectified by eating a healthy diet. It makes sense because about 85% of hair is made from protein. Hair
loss can be caused by low iron as well, which is more prevalent in

Examples Of Identity In Brave New World
Community, Identity, Stability is the motto of Aldous Huxley s Brave New World. the World State s
motto, COMMUNITY, IDENTITY, STABILITY (Huxley, 5). Basically, these words describe the
society of the new world and are the basics in building a perfect world as well as the main goals of
Utopia. Community is the relationship between the classes in the society of the World State that live
together. Even during death, a body is not left alone. Identity refers to the five castes within the

The connection among the societies gets stronger when people have sex with a person of their choice.
Community is achieved by systemizing life so that one is almost never alone. The people of the Brave
New World are controlled by a Controller known as Mustapha Mond in order to achieve Community.
Community is in part a result of identity and stability (Pearce, 1998). Every child lives together
without any parents and is conditioned to feel and think the same way as others and to fear and have
the same likes and dislikes, as well as the similar beliefs as the other residents of the New World.
Community is also achieved through a religion that satirizes Christianity. In relation to this religion,
the elder residents of the New World are urged to participate in the Solidarity Service which includes
community sing that one has to attend about once a week which makes everyone feel connected.
Solitude and loneliness does not exist in Brave New World because everyone often entertains each

Child Labor Laws In 1900
Child Labor Laws In 1900, children as young as nine years old were once expected to work sixteen
hours a day in harsh conditions. They were useful because of their small size and the owners being
able to pay low wages. Child labor laws exist because brave men, women, and children fought for
these rights. The conditions of the children s working environment caused Lewis Hine and the newsies
to act upon it.
In 1900s about 18 percent of all American workers were under the age of sixteen. The educational
reformers of mid nineteenth century were convicted to be native born population that an education

seven Hawaiian islands combined, the Big Island is also the youngest Hawaiian island. With that said,
O ahu is the third oldest and the third largest island of all eight of them. Looks can be deceiving in this

see that in areas of Lumpkin County this not the case. In Union County it appears that food insecurity

The Arch of Constantine is located along the Via Triumphalis in Rome, situated between both the
Colosseum and the Temple of Venus and Roma. Along the width of the arch, there are three arches
with partially engaged Corinthian columns. The arch is about 20 meters high, 25 meters wide, and 7
meters deep. At the central opening, it is almost 12 meters high, with identical inscribed marble panels
above, one on each side, that read:
To the Emperor Caesar Flavius Constantinus, the Greatest, pious, fortunate, the Senate and people of
Rome, by inspiration of divinity and his own great mind with his righteous arms on both the tyrant and
his faction in one instant in rightful battle he avenged the republic, dedicated this arch as a memorial
to his military victory
The most amazing features of the Arch are the relief sculptures. Many of the sculptures are standard
roman art, like the Nike figures above the central archway. Other elements show a multiplicity of
styles. In fact, many of the sculptures of the arch were reused building stone or sculptures taken away
from older monuments dating around the 2nd century C.E. The origins of the sculptures, with their
imperial style, are resembled to those of the reigns of Trajan, Hadrian, and Marcus Aurelius. Most of
the reliefs feature the emperors participating in activities that demonstrate their authority and piety by
addressing troops and defeating enemies.

Deforestation And Its Effects On Deforestation
Rainforests are found typically in tropical areas with a constant heavy rainfall in its biodiversity. When
areas of rainforests are destroyed, it s not just the trees that disappear. It s time for the government to
take action on deforestation. Rainforests are an important location for indigenous people and animals
because that s where their home belongs. Yet the government and organizations ignore those facts and
just demolish their homes in order to gain a new location for productions. It s a topic that s constantly
debated in politics and society should take a recognition on what s happening in deforestation. More
than half of the world s rainforests are destroyed and is in danger by humans, therefore, the
government shouldn t allow deforestation anymore in order to save the remaining rainforests in the
environment because it affects habitats, species, and indigenous people. Loss of habitats is an evident
threat in the rainforest as the facilities continue to form new funds to buildings and resources. In
deforestation, people can profit and revenue on the resources to inhibit for society to use. They profit
on the resources they sell to other countries after they obtain the sources they received from the
rainforests. Rather than the facilities looking at a profit for their own benefits, the destruction of the
land will cause the species to never return back nor will it provide shelter for them in their adapting
habitat. Even if deforestation is to distribute goods

connecting it to the Holocaust. To achieve this goal, I have organized my paper in the chronological

conclusion I tried to understand how modern world responds to Holocaust. The Holocaust is one of
the most tragic pages in the history of mankind and one of the greatest tragedies of the Jewish people
many children of survivors, who experienced their parents silence and avoidance of discussing the
past and their family s fate, felt this as a personal threat (Dalia Ofer10). Holocaust was a cold blooded

Financial Statement Analysis And Ratios
Chapter 17 covers the financial statement analysis and ratios. Financial statement analysis is the
process of examining financial statements that will depict the financial position of the company
allowing them to make better financial decisions. A typical financial statement consist of a balance
sheet, income statement, cash flow statement and notes to account. The most common being the
balance sheet and the income statement. The balance sheet, also referred to as a statement of financial

position of the company. It is a two sided report, assets on one side, and liabilities on the other.
Liabilities typically include accounts payable, accrues expenses, income tax owed, stockholders equity
(net worth), and loans. The income statement, also referred to the earning and loss statement, depicts
the profitability of the company. It shows to total sales revenue for one year. The expenses the
company incurs in producing finished good to sell is subtracted from the sales revenue. Also deducted
is the operating cost expenses and the deprecation. When analyzing the income statement, it is
important to note that the profitability isn t just the total profit. It is important to look at the ratio of
expenses as a percentage of profit. A company with high profits and high expenses could easily be
mismanaged.
However, balance sheets and income statements have little meaning by

Paradox Of Meno And Meno
The Paradox of Inquiry is also known as Meno s Paradox, there are a few interpretations to this
dialogue which can appear to be quite challenging to understand. In the Paradox, Socrates and Meno
are inquiring into the term virtue and what the definition of virtue might be. Socrates postulates three
possible options of acquiring knowledge in the Meno; finding out for yourself, learning from someone
else or by a divine inspiration. My thesis is that .......
Meno questions Scorates about how he will search for virtue and know what it is MENO: How will

Therefore, knowledge does dissolve the paradox and belief doesn t according to Socrates. Pre existing
knowledge dissolves the paradox in two main ways, one being that we can consciously not know
things but recollect our previous knowledge and therefore recognise when we ve found them and the
other being we can know things through pre existing knowledge and still search for them. In the
paradox, Meno insists on Socrates proving that learning is simply recollecting information.
Socrates begins to dissolve the paradox by stating that the soul is in fact immortal. Our souls go
through a process of anamnesis which is simply just recollecting previous information. To prove that
our souls have past experiences from multiple lives, he presents Meno with a scenario involving a
slave boy and a simple geometric inquiry. In short, Socrates tries to prove that even a slave boy who
appears to have no knowledge, can work out a simple geometric problem. The slave boy at first gives
a few wrong answers and Socrates had to ask follow up questions to bring the slave boy to the right
answer, however in no way did Socrates give the slave boy the answer from his recollection of past
experiences, the slave boy managed to correct himself and come to the right answer on his own.
Therefore, we have pre existing information in our souls and it is only a matter of remembering past
information.
It may seem as though Socrates dissolved the paradox of inquiry

Though Hitler s primary goal was the conquering of Europe, hindsight shows that the removal of

Porter s Generic Strategies Framework
Introduction Porter s generic strategies framework constitutes a major contribution to the development
of the strategic management literature. Generic strategies were first presented in two books by
Professor Michael Porter of the Harvard Business School (Porter, 1980, 1985). Porter (1980, 1985)
suggested that some of the most basic choices faced by companies are essentially the scope of the
markets that the company would serve and how the company would compete in the selected markets.
Competitive strategies focus on ways in which a company can achieve the most advantageous position
that it possibly can in its industry (Pearson, 1999). The profit of a company is essentially the
difference between its revenues and costs. Therefore high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Companies employ this strategy by focusing on the areas in a market where there is the least amount
of competition (Pearson, 1999). Organisations can make use of the focus strategy by focusing on a
specific niche in the market and offering specialised products for that niche. This is why the focus
strategy is also sometimes referred to as the niche strategy (Lynch, 2003). Therefore, competitive
advantage can be achieved only in the company s target segments by employing the focus strategy.
The company can make use of the cost leadership or differentiation approach with regard to the focus
strategy. In that, a company using the cost focus approach would aim for a cost advantage in its target
segment only. If a company is using the differentiation focus approach, it would aim for differentiation
in its target segment only, and not the overall market. This strategy provides the company the
possibility to charge a premium price for superior quality (differentiation focus) or by offering a low
price product to a small and specialised group of buyers (cost focus). Ferrari and Rolls Royce are
classic examples of niche players in the automobile industry. Both these companies have a niche of
premium products available at a premium price. Moreover, they have a small percentage of the
worldwide market, which is a trait characteristic of niche players. The downside of the focus strategy,
however, is that the niche characteristically is small and may not be significant or large

  • 2. Group Work We ve all been there where you were assigned different members to work with that do not cooperate or work hard enough. People around us believe that group projects are fun and can be exciting to work with others, but this is not the case. I am strongly against group work, from the different opinions, to the time management, and the slackers who do not do any of the work but still get credit. The different personalities and opinions of the group members creates many complications during the process of getting the work finished. Firstly, there are the different viewpoints in the group that make it hard to cooperate with one another. In groups, there are different personalities, making it hard to fit everyone s ideas into the project. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Slackers are the people in the group who lack the effort to do anything in the group. These people will just run around the room, acting like animals, and will not try to get any work done, thinking that you will do it for them. These individuals will mess with your plans in anyway possible, whether it be the construction of the project, or the pieces of the project you assign to each member. These people will give you lousy excuses for not finishing their part of the project, and make the rest of the group agitated. They will also ruin your grade on this project. Unless you want to stay up all night to do their work to salvage you and your teammates grades, you will not be getting a good grade if you are missing things that the slacker decided they did not need to do. Even if you have people who are frustrating, there are the people who will work with you and want a good grade as badly as you do. These people will work with you to try to finish the project and cooperate with you. But even if you have these especially exceptional people, there are still the people who will fight with you with everything and will not work at all. Group work is the worst part of school, with the people who do not cooperate and work, the time management, and the different opinions. I believe that you should tell your teachers that you do not like nor understand the meaning of group work, so that they may reconsider this teaching method. All in all, group work is horrible and not a great system to work with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Who Is Shrek An Anti Hero DreamWorks Oscar winning movie from 2001, Shrek is a computer animated adventure comedy film that cleverly and humorously corresponds with traditional fairy tales while criticizing the impossible standards that are negotiated through them. Although children oriented, some of the jokes in the movie were clearly adult oriented. The green ogre is an anti hero who want nothing more than being left alone in his swamp, but his life is turned upside down when other fairy tale characters are banished from Lord Fraquaad s realm and find refuge on his property. In his quest to become a king, the lord decides he will marry Princess Fiona, who is locked away in a tower and guarded by a dragon. Farquaad agrees to take back the fairy tale characters if Shrek delivers Princess Fiona to him, and the ogre along with his new friend donkey accept the quest. ... Getting to the wedding just in time and confessing his true love, he kisses Fiona after the sun sets while in ogre form, which leaves her an ogre forever, but just as beautiful in Shrek s eyes. The witty dialogue and the innovative moral of the movie are equally responsible for the huge popularity it enjoys, and reminding your children that bravery and honesty are more important than appearance and will be rewarded with true love is easier than ever when you buy them a Shrek ... • 5. The Great Divorce and The Divine Comedy The cultural impact of Dante s Divine Comedy is widely seen through a sundry of literary works, television programs, films and even video games. Yet, one of the most prominent works the Divine Comedy has impacted is C.S. Lewis s The Great Divorce. Lewis s book is greatly indebted to Dante s work, as both try to teach the reader how to achieve salvation. Furthermore, Lewis and Dante s protagonists discover the path to salvation through choices, and learning what causes one s refusal of God. Both authors explore the path to righteousness and enquire about life s most difficult questions. Therefore, the dialogue between Dante s Divine Comedy and C.S. Lewis s text however is written in prose, presenting various places ranging from the gray town to the valley of the shadow of life , which are Lewis s depictions of hell and the foothills of heaven respectively. Nevertheless, Matthew Swift, citing Alan Lee Brewer s dissertation states that, Despite radical structural differences, Lewis s afterlife seems to mirror Dante s afterlife as the direct product of continued choice (Brewer 213 214, 218 219) (Swift 9). Therefore, though the structures are dissimilar in most regards, including the author s approaches to the process of purging one s self of sin, the texts are in dialogue with one another, simply due to the fact that Lewis s work was created based on Dante s epic vision. Moreover, the vision of Dante s emphasizes how distorted love or excess is punished, because distorted love is a form of hubris. The hubris or exaggerated pride is punished because it alters the ascent to love or communion with God. Therefore, Dante s pilgrim travels through Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven to see the perfection of God s justice and journey towards a higher understanding of love. In order to understand God s justice, Dante the pilgrim must first understand the degradation of man and the punishments of sin. However, the torment of sinners causes Dante to question how a loving God would allow people to suffer, but as Allan H. Gilbert asserts, Dante s answer is that these sufferings counteract man s tendency ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Its tenet is based on Sigmund Freud s structural model of the psyche which identifies the id, the ego and the superego as the three theoretical constructs in terms of whose activity and interaction mental life is described. According to such model, the irrational, instinctual trends of the mind are the id; the rational, realistic part of the psyche is the ego; and its critical and moralizing function is the superego. • 13. The Phenomena Of Osmosis, Discovered By Rjh Dutrochet Background information The phenomena of osmosis, discovered by RJH Dutrochet in 1826, has been a significant area of interest in biology since. Osmosis is the process of diffusing water molecules through a selectively permeable membrane to dilute solutions with high concentrations of solutes until that solution has the same concentration as the solution on the other side of the membrane (Freeman, n.d., p. 96 99). An important component of osmosis is diffusion, which is when molecules or ions in the presence of a concentration gradient move from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration (Borg, 2003, p. 13). The purpose is to have the same concentration of solutes on both sides of the membrane and this process generally occurs when the solute causing the concentration gradient is unable to traverse the selectively permeable membrane. Moreover, it is an example of passive transport, meaning that it doesn t require energy (ATP). WeThe original aim of this experiment was to observe and understand the effects of osmosis by placing a slice of potato in both hypertonic and hypotonic solutions. The objectives have since been expanded to include observing the effects of a sugary hypertonic solution (sucrose solution) in addition to the previously used salty hypertonic solution (NaCl). It is unsure if the two solutions will generate similar outcomes or if one of the two will be more effective in conducting osmosis. Additional variables that will be added in the ... Many physicians believe that the only safe and effective way to start a patient on warfarin is with the use of one of these heparins, however, the hypercoaguable state is just a theoretical possibility. O ahu does not have any active volcanoes, but there is a possibility that they could still erupt in the future. Although the Big Island is larger than the other seven Hawaiian islands combined, the Big Island is also the youngest Hawaiian island. With that said, O ahu is the third oldest and the third largest island of all eight of them. Looks can be deceiving in this case. Lastly, the Big Island also has some of the largest scientific telescopes that sit on Mauna Kea. On the island of O ahu, there are no telescopes that sit on any of the inactive volcanoes. Overall, the distinct differences between O ahu and the Big Island include one island having active volcanoes, their size, and the fact that only one of them has some of the largest telescopes in the world. The Big Island, in fact, does have some of the largest telescopes that sit on Mauna A Wakea. There are many characteristics between these two islands that are indistinguishable and different. While it may be the assumption that larger areas of food insecurity are in the more densely populated areas, you can see that in areas of Lumpkin County this not the case. In Union County it appears that food insecurity is not nearly as prevalent. A deeper look will show that considering more factors is necessary when determining need. Some of the counties GMFB services have large rural areas where transportation can be a barrier as well as limited access to food sources near them. Figure 1 below also indicates the locations of the agencies GMFB supports and gives us a clear picture of how well we are meeting the areas of need as well as any gaps. • 33. Paradox Of Meno And Meno The Paradox of Inquiry is also known as Meno s Paradox, there are a few interpretations to this dialogue which can appear to be quite challenging to understand. In the Paradox, Socrates and Meno are inquiring into the term virtue and what the definition of virtue might be. Socrates postulates three possible options of acquiring knowledge in the Meno; finding out for yourself, learning from someone else or by a divine inspiration. My thesis is that ....... Meno questions Scorates about how he will search for virtue and know what it is MENO: How will you look for it Socrates, when you don t know at all what it is? Therefore, knowledge does dissolve the paradox and belief doesn t according to Socrates. Pre existing knowledge dissolves the paradox in two main ways, one being that we can consciously not know things but recollect our previous knowledge and therefore recognise when we ve found them and the other being we can know things through pre existing knowledge and still search for them. In the paradox, Meno insists on Socrates proving that learning is simply recollecting information. Socrates begins to dissolve the paradox by stating that the soul is in fact immortal. Our souls go through a process of anamnesis which is simply just recollecting previous information. To prove that our souls have past experiences from multiple lives, he presents Meno with a scenario involving a slave boy and a simple geometric inquiry. In short, Socrates tries to prove that even a slave boy who appears to have no knowledge, can work out a simple geometric problem. The slave boy at first gives a few wrong answers and Socrates had to ask follow up questions to bring the slave boy to the right answer, however in no way did Socrates give the slave boy the answer from his recollection of past experiences, the slave boy managed to correct himself and come to the right answer on his own. Therefore, we have pre existing information in our souls and it is only a matter of remembering past information. It may seem as though Socrates dissolved the paradox of inquiry ... • 37. Porter s Generic Strategies Framework Introduction Porter s generic strategies framework constitutes a major contribution to the development of the strategic management literature. Generic strategies were first presented in two books by Professor Michael Porter of the Harvard Business School (Porter, 1980, 1985). Porter (1980, 1985) suggested that some of the most basic choices faced by companies are essentially the scope of the markets that the company would serve and how the company would compete in the selected markets. Competitive strategies focus on ways in which a company can achieve the most advantageous position that it possibly can in its industry (Pearson, 1999). The profit of a company is essentially the difference between its revenues and costs. Therefore high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Companies employ this strategy by focusing on the areas in a market where there is the least amount of competition (Pearson, 1999). Organisations can make use of the focus strategy by focusing on a specific niche in the market and offering specialised products for that niche. This is why the focus strategy is also sometimes referred to as the niche strategy (Lynch, 2003). Therefore, competitive advantage can be achieved only in the company s target segments by employing the focus strategy. The company can make use of the cost leadership or differentiation approach with regard to the focus strategy. In that, a company using the cost focus approach would aim for a cost advantage in its target segment only. If a company is using the differentiation focus approach, it would aim for differentiation in its target segment only, and not the overall market. This strategy provides the company the possibility to charge a premium price for superior quality (differentiation focus) or by offering a low price product to a small and specialised group of buyers (cost focus). Ferrari and Rolls Royce are classic examples of niche players in the automobile industry. Both these companies have a niche of premium products available at a premium price. Moreover, they have a small percentage of the worldwide market, which is a trait characteristic of niche players. The downside of the focus strategy, however, is that the niche characteristically is small and may not be significant or large ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
