postoperative days 1 (p=.03) and 3 (p=.01) when compared to sham mice. Further, EB extravasation
was significantly greater (p=.03) at day 3 than at day 30 in BCAS mice. Positive IgG staining was
seen at post procedure day 3 in the BCAS group. BCAS mice demonstrated a nadir in pericyte

The ups and downs of the premium jeans industry and the constant fluctuating of threats to the
industry made it interesting to see how the denim lines would respond. They were originated in the
1970s by Calvin Klein who created highly priced, skin tight jeans who used celebrities (i.e. Brooke
Shields) to endorse the product. Since they were higher priced compared to your common, regular
blue jeans sold by mainstream brands like Lee and Wrangler, they were meant to serve as fashion
statements as opposed to comfort. They started off well in early on in the 1980s, but then hit a decline

As we discussed in class, a threat of substitute does not necessarily just mean other high end,
premium, higher priced jeans. Substitutes could include any types of jeans. There are skinny jeans that
are mentioned throughout the case, as well as slim cut jeans, straight cut jeans, low/medium/high rise
jeans, etc. Any type of jean poses as a threat to premium denim jeans because consumers fashion
senses are constantly changing. As of late, more people have shifted towards the casual, relaxed fit
jean type of lifestyle, as opposed to before the down economy started in 2008 where many were
trending more towards the fashion forward or the aspirational shopper as the case described. The
aspirational shopper consists of a middle class person ($75,000 150,000 income per year) who is
willing to buy luxurious, high end jeans. So the overall point here is that all jean types are a threat of
substitutes. Another layer of substitutes could really be any type of pants in general. People love
wearing sweat pants around the house, females tend to wear a lot of dresses and skirts nowadays,
leather pants are somewhat of a trend, and everybody wears shorts at some point in the year. So these
are threats of substitutes as well. Lastly, any other high end products people could choose to spend
money on pose as threats as well. Maybe consumers will choose to spend their money on high end
accessories such as a new watch, or maybe a handbag or scarf if

My Rotation For Obstetrics
My rotation for obstetrics was in Brighton, CO at Platte Valley Medical Center. I was fortunate
enough to experience multiple avenues of this field including labor and delivery and postpartum, but
ultimately enjoyed spending most of my time in there Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). While
providing care to one specific child I was encouraged by my instructor to help provide instruction to
the parents in several different areas, but as I worked with mom and dad to help take care of the baby I
noticed some deficients in the knowledge of care for their child. The most being about bonding with

Ultimately, I noticed that the parents were having a hard time by not being able to hold their baby and
bond. NICU care can interfere with the process of bonding between the family and by not allowing
them to touch or hold there baby creates a rift in the interaction process (Tessier et al., 2009). As time
progressed while I was at clinical the baby was becoming more self sufficient and the suggestion of
kangaroo care came about when mom was trying to breastfeed as well as when they had to supplement
with bottle feedings. When the subject of kangaroo care was brought up neither mom nor dad had
heard of it before. During my time with the family I felt that they were at risk for impaired parenting
related to prolong separation from the parent as evidence by long amounts of time with no physical
contact with the baby. It was clear that both mom and dad were emotionally stressed by not being able
to provide basic needs for their newborn, and physical contact was restricted to small amounts of
touching through the isolette. It was also clear that mom and dad had still not developed any comfort
with independently holding or feeding the baby. I observed that they wanted to become more
comfortable and have more physical interaction with their child. Overall they wanted to become more
integrated into the physical care of their child.

Couch s version of the tale provides perspective on not only what the couple goes through, but also

World War I s impact on people at the time is devastating and Couch knows that her audience is
looking for an escape when reading, whereas Malory is simply telling a story for the fun of it and not
the details. Tristan becomes very distraught from his loneliness and as a result he goes to Brittany to
find Iseult la Blanche Mains, or Iseult of the White Hands in an effort to ease his pain of losing his

The role of the male characters in The Virgin and the Gypsy by D.H. Lawrence can best be summed
up by Yvette s reaction to her sister s philosophy of marriage:

It is interesting that these are the only glimpses of the world through male eyes that we are allowed in
this book. It is also interesting that all three of these glimpses into the male mind are related in terms

To determine the genotype of the members in my group and the class with regards to the TAS2R38
and LCT genes, first, DNA was extracted from epithelial cells to be used for PCR to amplify the DNA
of the targeted loci. Then, restriction enzyme digestion was performed to cut the DNA into fragments
in order to perform Restriction Length Polymorphism Analysis to decipher the different lengths.
Differing lengths of the DNA accounts for different alleles on that specific gene, therefore determining
heterozygosity and homozygosity of the genotype.

be in equilibrium, it is likely the population violates the five conditions required for the Hardy
Weinberg Principle. The five conditions include, no mutation, random mating, infinite population size,
no gene flow, and no selection. Of the five, non random mating and gene flow could affect the
genotype frequencies in the short term, for example, the length of the experiment. The population that
was tested consists of only one generation, therefore the class is just a mixture of genotypes rather
than a mating population that is producing gametes, therefore the non random mating assumption is

ABSTRACT
Corporate social responsibility is a concept whereby companies integrate social and environmental
concerns in their business activities and in interaction with their stakeholders on a voluntary basis. In
this global context, voluntary social and environmental practices of business, going beyond companies
existing legal obligations, can play a major role in filling the governance gap in an innovative way.
The sector is characterized by controls across the entire value chain of sugar production and sale,
which not only hampers its efficiency but also exacerbates the cyclicality in sugar and sugarcane
production. The growth and development in sugar sector in the country in general and in the state of
Uttar Pradesh in particular has multiple linkages with social, economic and environmental issues. The
purpose of this study is to conduct a triple bottom line assessment of sugarcane value chain and
suggest alternatives that could improve the current sustainable practices of CSR across various
stakeholders.
