Research Paper About Quebec
Have you ever visited the city Quebec? It s a old city located in Canada, just barely north of the
border.
Quebec is an old, city built a long time ago. It has many features, both geographical, and for
recreational purposes. Some of the geographical features include big hills, lots of greenery, and a
castle that doubles as a hotel too!
imageimage
In the pictures above, you can see that many of the buildings in Quebec are old timey like. This is
likely because Quebec was founded long ago, and no one wanted to get rid of the beautiful structures
built long ago. Many other building are like this too.
As you can see in the picture above, there is a lot of cool attractions, including this building, which
doubles as a historical attraction and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My family and I go there every year! It is similar to ACL in Austin, except fancier with more hands on
activities. Most of the locals go here, along with some people who travel to Quebec exclusively for
this purpose. There are a bunch of bands, and usually couches and carpets that the audience can sit on
while watching the bands. Some of the performances are outside, while some of them are in tents to
protect the audience from the wind and cold. There are also other booths, like shops and such. My dad
and I went in one where they use a green screen to make it look like you re at a concert!
There are many things that students can enjoy there. There s many kinds of foods, like escargot,
chocolate croissants, and french onion soup. As mentioned earlier, there is also a fancy castle hotel
which people can stay in. You can visit stores there which sell all different kinds of products.
In Quebec, there are many family attractions, which include fancy family friendly restaurants. There
are lots of historical spots and museums, which the family can drop by to receive a quick history
lesson. There s also hotels all over, so you won t have a hard time finding a place to stay.
I say that Quebec is a great place to visit, both historically and recreationally. See you there

Morality In Plato s Euthyphro
Morality in Euthyphro
To reach an understanding whether acts are immoral or moral we must ask ourselves what we consider
to be immoral or moral. According to Protagoras first claim on moral relativism, he states Man is the
measure of all things, of the things that are, that they are, and of the things that are not, that they are
not. The way something appears to me, is true to me and the way something appears to you, is true to
you. Consequently, meaning there is no absolute truth. Aristotle and Plato, both argue holding that the
view on moral objectivism is that there is a reality or realm of object and facts existing independent of
the mind. What actions are right to some, might be wrong to others. Essentially, morality is arbitrary.
It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Morality intakes are relative to an individual s beliefs. If Euthyphro thinks punishing his father for
unmoral acts is moral than that is right for him. Both Plato and Aristotle would think that Protagoras s
claims are contradicting because if he says that relativism is truth for him than it would be false for
those who don t believe in relativism. Aristotle and Plato believe that there must be an objective truth,
something that is true for everyone at any given place or time. Taking an objective approach may not
always be relevant, particularly in cases where it is impossible to be objective because of the relevant
facts and viewpoints. In this case, how can someone know for sure that there is universal truth? Not
everyone is going to believe in the same principles as others, regardless of time, culture, place, etc.
Therefore, I believe there is no objective truth to

The Pueblo Revolt
Native Americans are the first inhabitants of North America by centuries; however, many believe that
American history started when Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492 and discovered a
new world . Although the English, French, and Spanish arrived around the same time, they all
interacted with the Natives in different ways to achieve what they were seeking, such as land, riches,
etc. However, once the European pursuit of riches and land became brutal and malicious, the Natives
attempted several revolts, such as the Pueblo Revolt or King Phillip s War, that unfortunately, has
some dire consequences, such as death and slavery. Although English were the last party to cross the
Atlantic, they were proactive in their attempt to get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Strengths Strong brand reputation: Home Depot operates in nearly 2,250 locations in the United States

commerce; Home Depot can overcome the rising competition from the online firms through
expanding in e commerce. When the firm goes online, more customers will access its products and

This reading has introduced me to various factors in architecture regarding what it represents and
should be in society through Louis Sullivan s words.
A Terminal Station: The Masculine Implies forceful, direct, clear and straightforward,
The Feminine Implies intuitive sympathy, suavity, grace, and qualities of soothe, elevate, and refined.
Should be easy to get in and out (efficiency)
Outward aspect of the style takes on the ambulance of architecture.
I agree, a terminal station should be able to tell us what it is and from the outside, where are the
entrances, exists, etc... This is a public figure and needs to be clear.
The Key:
Each building s external aspect represents character and it s up to us to ... Show more content on

However, the value of the building is based on subjective value and Dollar value. Sullivan
recommends that both come into play. Human nature determines the subjective value, which is more
permanent, but money value is inseparable from the affairs of life.
Roman temple:
Sullivan talked about how roman temples are place in great modern cities, at the same time having a
strenuous sight, sound, that remind the people of their god. Such a holy precinct shall be doubly
sacred to us in our reverence for this union of old and new.
An example of how a building can be highly subjective, take for example a bank. Just as we discussed
in class, a Bank wants their building to seem powerful with strong values.
Sullivan disagrees that banks in America should not resemble a Roman Temple. He believes that it
should belong to ancient romans and that banks can make as much money in any kind of bank. Thus
no need for imitations.
It was a part of Roman life and their culture, and that goes along with the Roman glory, thus building
temples all over resemble a roman death.
Taste:
It expresses a familiarity with current persons of the culture, or trends.
When an architect loses trust from the people at large, this is called weak taste.
I always consider taste as what the market demands, for example having garages in suburban houses
because of the demand for car and storage area.

Amanda Tragic Hero
A tragic hero can be described as a person of honorable or heroic qualities who has a flaw in character
that is eventually the persons demise in a play. In the play, The Glass Menagerie , the mother of Tom
and Laura, Amanda, is the modern tragic hero of this play. Published in 1944, The playwright, The
Glass Menagerie was written by Tennessee Williams and was first performed in 1945. The play takes
place in St. Louis, Missouri, during the Great Depression, which is important to understand why the
characters are who they are. The play is all from Tom s prospective who is an inspiring poet that
works at a warehouse in order to support his loving but controlling mother Amanda, and his younger,
shy sister, Laura. Out of all the characters in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amanda is always living in the past. She wants to escape her reality with her daughter, that s not
married, and a son that s always coming home late and drunk. Also mentioned in the play, the author
explains how in her past, Amanda was a young and popular southern belle. In the play, she brags about
how she once had 17 gentlemen callers (Williams 680) one night in her past. Amanda also keeps a
larger than life size photograph over the mantel (Williams 679) of Tom and Laura s father who gave
up his job with the telephone company and skipped the light fantastic out of town... (Williams 679).
To keep a huge, framed photographed of an ex husband can only mean that she is either still hung up
on him after he left, or she wants her children to know what their father looked like. Either way, this is
still an excellent example as to how Amanda is living in the past. Another way Amanda is always
living in the past is how she reacts when she finds how there is a gentlemen caller for her daughter
Laura. She wants to make a good first impression on Laura s first gentlemen caller, as she sees it as a
ticket for Laura to be successful, so she puts on an old dress that she has and mentions how she had it
on the day (she) met her father (Williams 699). She basically saves that out of date dress for special
occasions. But it is very old considering she wore it when she first met her ex husband. If she was not

Equal Rights for Same-Sex Couples Essays
Imagine being in love with someone, but never having the ability to make the relationship official. For
many same sex couples across the United States of America this is a reality. Even though great strides
have been made in the advancement of gay rights, homosexual couples still face opposition from the
Federal Government by being denied the right to a marriage. Same sex marriages should be
constitutionalized. While the Federal Government denies gay and lesbian couples the right to marry,
there are some state governments which allow same sex couples the right to domestic partnerships,
civil unions, and marriages. Comparing marriage to civil unions and domestic partnerships is a bit like
comparing diamonds to rhinestones (Human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These states which grant domestic partnerships and the states mentioned above which allow civil
unions are in the beginning stages of trying to rectify the Federal Government s Defense of Marriage
Act. Currently six states and one territory issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples. These
states are Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont plus the
District of Columbia (Human Rights Campaign). Though these states and Washington, D.C. allow gay
marriage, these couples still do not have the same rights and benefits as heterosexual couples. There
are many financial benefits received from a marriage which make it appealing to same sex couples.
These rights and federal tax benefits are given to married heterosexual couples, but homosexual
couples do not receive them. Such benefits include the couple filing for joint tax returns and inheriting
money or property from his or her spouse without paying tax (Zajac, Koova, and Rocks 29). Due to
the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which states marriage as being a legal coming together of
husband and wife (Zajac, Koova, and Rocks 29), marriages for same sex couples are deemed
unconstitutional. This means that even though a state may approve and allow a gay couple to be
married , the Federal Government prohibits it. Gay and Lesbian couples along with many gay rights
activists strongly oppose the Defense Of Marriage Act. Even the Obama administration,

Blood transfusion is the process of transferring blood from one person, which is the donor, to another
person, which is the recipient. The earliest research of blood transfusion started in the 17th century, a
British physician named William Harvey discovered the circulation and properties of blood, which
then inspired others to operate blood transfusions. This led to the first successful blood transfusion in

Management education is mainly aimed at developing managerial skills in students. Amongst the

opportunities to both the teacher and the taught to promote managerial I understanding and

The case study method of learning helps in developing skills on alternatives and decision making.
Case studies develop creative problem solving techniques.
According to Geofftaston the following six major skills areas are developed through case studies: 1.
Analytical skills· One learns to classify, organize, and evaluate the information handled. Using this
information one attempts to understand the situation described. This is, however, fraught with the
danger of not thinking logically when the information is taxing. 2. Application skills This is useful at a
lower level where concepts and principles, are applied, e.g., discounted cash flow. 3. Creative skills:
When cases cannot be solved by logical process alone creativity is a vital quality for a manager and is
more useful in decision making. 4. Communicative skills: By writing well constructed reports,
analysis and by discussions, both written and„ oral communicative skills are developed. Page No. 3..
5. Social skills: Case discussions are essentially a social process. One learns to communicate, listen,
support, argue, control oneself, etc. In fact, there is a belief that case courses are more a study of
human behaviour than problem solving. 6. Self analysis skills: A case is always useful in application
of the situation to oneself and one can analyse the situation with reference to oneself. Thus, it helps in

for more homes and factories to be built in order to support the growing population. With the
constructing of more factories to support the rise in population came the growth of industry and
manufacturing. The growth of the city, along with these factories, brought about several issues other
than the manufacturing of valuable goods. The overcrowding from the population growth and the
smog, smoke, and other toxic waste from the factories brought about the issue of pollution and bad
living conditions. Pollution and the horrible quality of living was ... Show more content on

Wheelan and Co., a preface to a business directory, says, It is to the population that Manchester is
mainly indebted to its elevation as a seat of commerce and manufacture...for which it is distinguished
beyond any other town in the world (Document 9). This also shows how the growth of the city and its
population resulted in this issue of manufacturing and commercial growth. Wheelan and Co. reacts to
this elevation of the city saying, Perhaps no part of England, not even London, presents such
remarkable and attractive features as Manchester, the Workshop of the World (Document 9). This
reaction is positive toward the manufacturing growth of the city, describing it as remarkable and
attractive. Another positive opinion on the growth of manufacturing is seen when Thomas B.
Macaulay, a liberal Member of Parliament, says that improvements are owing to the increase in
national wealth which the manufacturing system has produced (Document 3). This reaction shows
how he thinks that the growth of manufacturing in Manchester is the basis for the improvement and
the wealth of the whole country of England. Because he is a member of English Parliament, he may
have a positive bias towards Manchester because it is an English city. Alexis de Tocqueville, a French
visitor to Manchester, reacts in a similar way to the issue of the growth of manufacturing that resulted
from the growth of the city saying, from this [city] the greatest

Coffee Is A For Antioxidants Effect Essay
Coffee is known for antioxidants effect. The smell, the taste, the caffeine lift and the shared experience
of coffee made people around the world want to start their day with a steaming cup of coffee. There
are healthy benefits of coffee that is why it has become part of people s modern life and culture. Green
coffee bean, green tea, and grape seed extract are the top widely used products worldwide. They are
known for its antioxidant power. People use this product depending on their own preference. It is
advantage to choose green coffee bean extract than roasted coffee bean. Ordinary coffee from roasted
coffee bean has negative effects. There are proven studies that green coffee bean extract contains
stronger antioxidant compared to grape seed and green tea extract. Chlorogenic acid (CGA), an active
component found in coffee, helps neutralize free radicals and regulates metabolism. Normally, our
body can handle free radicals but if the production of free radicals becomes excessive, damage can
occur. Studies conducted by the Biological Science Laboratories show that green coffee bean reduces
blood pressure. Absorption of oxygen free radicals by green coffee bean is more effective than green
tea and grape seed extract. There are other health benefits of green coffee bean extract. It can be an
effective pain killer for migraine. It assists the body in burning fats which is helpful for athletes and
bodybuilders with their muscle fatigue. The risk of developing liver diseases

The Death Of A Baby
The first cries of a baby echoed through the air. The cries were eager and joyous, as if the baby was
welcoming the world. The mother held the newborn baby and looked at her with pride that contrasted
her perspiring skin and shadowed eyes. Steady clicks were heard as a nurse came in. She was holding
a sleek glass tablet and briskly walked up to the side of the mother. The nurse projected a hologram of
numbers, graphs and tables with a triple tap on the glass.
The baby is in good condition: healthy heart rate, height at the seventy fifth percentile, head
circumference of 12 inches, Type O blood. There is one issue to contend with, but will only be an

and the couple digested the news.
We ll let her decide when she s old enough, the woman said. Making the decision for her would be
selfish and detrimental. She took a deep ragged breath, turning to her husband.
It would be. We could hope it may work out over time. Subjecting her to extensive tests for a cure
would only take away her childhood. Let s enjoy her while we can. the man said, gently rocking the
baby in his arms. What shall we name her? he asked, glancing back at his wife.
The woman laid back and closed her eyes, thinking hard. She did so for so long that the man thought
she had fallen asleep. As he began to pull up the hospital covers for her, she opened her eyes and said
Nova. For the cycle of destruction and creation within her. The woman smiled with satisfaction as she
looked at her husband and the sleeping baby.
Beautiful. I couldn t have thought of that. And her middle name? Must I decide that? the man said.

Culture Transplant-Nummi Case
A Great Experiment Of Culture Transplant Cross culture management, Prof. Alfred Kieser XiaoJun
Ma Culture is a set of basic assumptions, which shared solutions to universal problems of external
adaptations and internal integration which have evolved over time and are handed from one generation
to the next. This is a general definition of culture. Actually there are many definitions exist, some
concentrated on values, others on shared patterns of behaviors and meaning. And what we are going to

But usually, this failure is credited to lack of understanding about the strong role of culture and the
role it plays in organizations, not because the culture does not play an important role in corporations.
Actually this is one of the reasons why that many strategic planners now place as much emphasis on
identifying strategic values as they affect strategy mission and vision. The facts of logic of
industrialization, technology, striving for efficiency have risen the argument that whether
organizations should be culture free or not. Too much consideration of culture in an organization could
reduce efficiency of the organizations. And it seems like the industrialization and technology
development have put the culture problems aside, the conflicts caused by culture different could be
ignored in this case. But is this the real situation? First of all, culture affects the beliefs and values of
people, and also, it decides the behavior of people, the information gathering method and
communication type, decision making and so on, which are all critical in running business. So
organizations are actually culture bound in spite of pressures for convergence of the facts of
industrialization, globalization and so on. Practices that are transferred to another culture will take on
characteristics of the new environment. The environment will select a part of the new culture which is

Influenza, commonly called the flu, is caused by viruses that infect the respiratory tract.
Compared with most other viral respiratory infections, such as the common cold, influenza
infection often causes a more severe illness. Typical clinical features of influenza include fever,
cough, sore throat and respiratory symptoms.
Influenza viruses are categorized into 3 different viruses, A, B, and C. The A and B influenza
viruses are responsible for the epidemic form of respiratory illness that occurs almost every
winter. These 2 forms are often associated with increased rates for hospitalization and death.

Business models of economic growth offer conflicting predictions of whether the influenza
epidemic, and the accompanying negative shock to population and the labor force, did increase
or decrease the rate of growth over the medium and long run. The first difficulty was accurately
modeling the nature of such a shock. There was certainly a large negative shock to the
population and the labor force in 1918 and 1919, but there is strong reason to believe that this
shock affected population and labor force growth rates substantially beyond these two years.
Since a large proportion of the deaths occurred among those aged 15 to 44, the epidemic
undoubtedly adversely affected family formation and fertility for years after the epidemic.
However, data limitations make it difficult to precisely estimate this effect.
The conventional view of the effect of the influenza is that it sharply reduced the size of the
working population, leading to a rapid increase in real wages for the laboring classes that could
still perform the required duties. The impact on per capita income was less clear, however,

Religious Conflict Of Dante s Inferno
Jessica Gay World Literature Dr. Schott 9 November 2014 Religious Conflict in Dante s Inferno
Critics Daniel Tompsett and Donald Winchester and literary scholar Nicole Rudick have argued that
Dante s Inferno is a dark and hopeless telling of how we are all relegated to sin and lack the will or
righteousness to turn from sin and temptation. Tompsett and Winchester state that, The placement of
living figures in each section was a judgment and a condemnation, albeit subjective, on both history
and the people he knew (Tompsett). They both agree that Dante is painting a picture of the dredges of
society and the torture that they must endure as a result of their inability to turn from sin. They also
quote scholar David H. Higgins to say that Dante arguably believed he was writing a gospel to convert
his recalcitrant age (Tompsett). Scholar and critic Nicole Rudick confirms this portrayal of dismal
hopelessness with her comment, Dante created a rigid view of good and evil, showing no mercy for
those who did not repent during their lifetimes and sparing no one in his accounting of misdeeds, vice,
immorality, and generally inappropriate comportment (Rudick 29). It is my opinion that the
aforementioned scholars and critics are missing Dante s point. When I read the poem I am overcome
with quite the opposite view. I believe that a better way to interpret Dante s poem is to consider that he
was asking each of us to reflect on our waywardness and sin and to come to the

Bruno Is Not Dead
ONE
Bruno is not dead. His voice still rings in my head, his scent of cacao and dirt still linger in my nose. I
wish I could touch him and wrap my arms around torso, and tell him how sorry I am. But I cannot, I
am a coward. I am afraid of looking at my son. I know that he is still around, I can feel him following
me. I can feel his cold stare lurking behind me, I can feel the guilt he put upon me.
Whenever you lose something, a necklace, your keys or whatever. Everyone tells you to look in the
last place you saw it. You search everywhere, but without luck it is nowhere. The last place I was able
to talk to Bruno was in my office, where I now spend the last of my crippling days.

Swallowing the giant lump in my throat, I invited him into the house. When we did arrive Bruno went

patted the spot next to his inviting me to sit down.
We lied down there for hours until it grew dark, Bruno refused to speak the whole time we were there

Kwame Anthony Appiah Persepolis Rhetorical Analysis
According to Kwame Anthony Appiah s text, Moral Disagreement and Majane Satrapi s cartoon,
From Persepolis, morals and values are something that everyone grows up with and cannot always be
easily understood. One may be referred to as ethnocentric if he or she devalues or disrespects other
morals and values. This is the belief that one culture is better or superior to others. One major problem
that rises with this argument is that all cultures have done both positive and negative things in their
histories, which may influence how others evaluate them. Kimmel and Satrapi show that it is essential
to be open minded about one another s morals and values. The article Moral Disagreement by Kwame

Many women agree that wearing a veil is as insult towards their rights. We didn t really like to wear
the veil, especially because we didn t understand why we had to, says one of the girls at school

them. Some used their veil to jump rope or throw them away. Everywhere in the streets there were
demonstrations for and against the veil (Satrapi 683). Satrapi is unsure about how she feels when
wearing the veil. She states how she was born with religion and believes that she would be the last

grandmother is the only person who knows about her holy book, which she has. The rules say that all

Causes Of The Industrial Revolution
By 1750, there was not much doubt that if any country was going to triumph in being the first
industrial power it would be England (Hobsbawm 29). However, several factors were responsible for
England s emergence as an industrial power. Some of the contributing factors for the Industrial
Revolution were: the increasing importance of imperial goods such as cotton, cultural traditions that
stemmed from the Renaissance and the Reformation, population change, and a government willing to
subordinate all foreign policy to its economic ends. Socially, the Industrial Revolution in England
changed exponentially with the growing drift between the class hierarchy. Instead of reverting to
social revolution as occurred in France, England experienced political reform during the Industrial
Revolution that would become a symbol of hope for thriving countries. There has been much
speculation on the exact reason the Industrial Revolution began in England in the late 18th Century,
but certain components are undisputed for the Revolution s occurrence there. Initially, Britain already
had a large, developed supply of coal and iron which gave the British a start in mass metallurgy (Perry
286). There also was a surplus of capital available for investments to be made in new industries;
however, these funds came from wealthy landowners and merchants who had grown rich in commerce
through the slave trade (Perry 287). With the start of their own capitalist industrialization, England

Lucky Dragon finally died after the six months. After the nuclear weapon exploded, the Godzilla was
waked by the nuclear weapon and started to attack Japan. Like the William Tsutsui said in his book
that the original Godzilla film (Gojira) was more than just a guy in a rubber suit smashing a model of
Tokyo. Some people argue the movie Godzilla does not have a deep meaning because it copied the
idea of other movies and they just want to make money. In my opinion, I have a different opinion
which agrees with what William Tsutsui said in his book because the film Godzilla shows the anti
nuclear, anti war and also tell people that science s both sides for humans which also reflect the
influence of nuclear.
First of all, the movie has a deep meaning of the anti nuclear which is The time honored story of
Godzilla s genesis begins in the spring of 1954 with Tanaka Tomoyuki. (p14). In 1954, Japan was
attacked by America s nuclear and they were afraid of the nuclear weapon because the Godzilla was
waked by nuclear weapon at that time. Then the Godzilla started to attack Japan for several times and
most of them died from the attack. For example, in the movie that Godzilla waked up in the sea by the
nuclear weapon and started to go to the cities hurt Japanese by using fire and trampling on the
buildings. I still remember that one train drove nearby and then the Godzilla just stepped on the train
and also throws some parts of the train away, many people dead from his attack and restless people
just ran away and show the faces that they are scared. Especially at the end of movie, the person said
If we keep on conducting nuclear tests. It s possible that another Godzilla might appear...Somewhere

Bullying Is The Intentional Harm Doing Or Harrasement
What is bullying? It is the intentional harm doing or harrasement directed to vulnerable people and is
repeated quite often. Bullying can be done in multiple ways. Some examples are: physical violence,
verbal talk and/or threats and rumors being spread either verbally or online. Bullying can happen to
anyone, but mostly involves kids. There are ways to try and stop it and everyone should help in
getting that rate down. ( Bullying. Britannica ) This isn t something that is to be taken lightly but many
people do, and it stays an issue in many places, especially at schools. A U.S. national study done at the
beginning of the 21st century stated 30 percent of kids, middle to high school, experienced bullying
during their school years. Research shows that it tends to start during early teen years and decreases in
their later teen years, and it is showed to be done mostly by boys. It can start from reactions to
struggles and from power within a group. (Bullying Britannica) It can also be done by kids who feel
like having the power or from those who come from homes where the adults fight or hurt each other.
When girl s bully, they tend to do it in emotional ways, such as excluding a certain girl or gossiping
about her (Bullying Topic overview). Bullying doesn t just apply to high school kids, but adults are
also experiencing it at work and by definition it is worse at work than in school. In the workplace,

A monopolist can also perform price discrimination. When different prices are charged by a seller for
essentially the same product it is known as price discrimination. The monopolist often wants to
segment the market according to the price elasticity of demand (e) and charge higher prices for those
consumers with lower elasticity of demand, according to the mark up formula. Therefore Futures
Unlimited Corporation can also discriminate its price. Direct price discrimination can again be sub
divided into three categories first degree price discrimination, second degree price discrimination, and
third degree price discrimination. With first degree price discrimination, every firm would like to
charge a different price to each of its customers. If possible, the firm would charge each consumer the
maximum price that consumer is willing to pay for each unit bought. The maximum price the
consumers are willing to pay is known as the customer s reservation price. The act of charging each
customer his or her reservation price is called first degree price discrimination or perfect price
discrimination. In second degree price discrimination, price varies in according to quantity demanded.
Within some markets, each consumer purchases many units of the good over any given period, and the
consumer s demand declines with the number of units purchased. In this situation, a firm can

Behavioral Patterns Of The Family System
Every family has a unique system with a set of rules, mostly unspoken, that govern their behavior and
interactions. In dysfunctional families, the symptom of their dysfunction is typically sourced within
their family system. The symptom also has a function it protects family members from uncomfortable
conflict. Dysfunctional families and couples often maintain negative patterns of interacting, and are
unable to transition into new behavioral patterns without therapeutic intervention. In order to help
families develop out of their systematic ways of behaving, it is important to understand the specific
family system that is presented. With a keen understanding of the family s culture, beliefs, etc., the
therapist can develop therapeutic rituals, which are prescribed actions aimed at altering behavioral
patterns that are responsible for maintaining the symptom. The ritual is not a verbal explanation or
criticism of the family system, rather it is a specific set of actions designed to help families create new
patterns of interaction and meaning in their relationships. (p, 5).
Symbols, time and place, and open and closed aspects are fundamental elements that are used to
construct rituals. Symbols are actions or objects utilized in the ritual that represent a new belief within
the family system, which must specifically relate to the particular family culture. The explicit
language of the family sometimes determines to symbol used. by Imber Black 1986nFor example,

Red Wolves have no natural predators. The Red Wolves have been endangered since the 1960s, which
has affected history and the environment ( Red Wolves History Red Wolves Conservation Center). The
red wolf s main threat is breeding with the eastern coyotes, but can helped by having specialists set up

world s most endangered canid (Red Wolf Habitat). The length of a red wolf is four to five feet, weigh
from fifty to eighty pounds, and a height of about twenty six inches. Their fur is black and brown on
the top of their body and yam (brown, orange, red) on the stomach area. These beautiful creatures live
in swamps, forests, and coastal prairies from Southeastern Texas to Central Pennsylvania. Canis Rufus

The Paleo diet is a concept that has had an increase in popularity within the last decade. Otherwise

Particular elements would either thrive or diminish in the different climates therefore making the

Therefore, the exact diet could either come as no benefit or a breakthrough in subsiding or at least
promoting ways to encourage good health behaviours. The theory behind this ultimately aims at
decreasing the percentage of overweight people and other affiliated health issues. Even after
evolutionary biologists analysed the remains of the Tyrolean Iceman (Keller et al., 2012) found in
Tisenjoch Pass in the Italian part of the Ötztal Alps , evidence of calcification in his major

Comprehensive Sex Education And Comprehensive Sex Education
Around the country views on sex education differ strongly, typically more religiously affiliated
states promote abstinence while liberal states are in favor of comprehensive sex education.
While both abstinence only sex education and comprehensive sex education aim to shield teens
from the possible dangers of sex, they strongly disagree on what information should be taught
and the outcome said information will have on teens.
Many parents have a strong opinion on how much information their children should be taught,
ranging from nothing at all to everything from human anatomy, STD s, gender studies, and sex
education for queer teens. According to an article titled Comprehensive Sex Education is
Inappropriate and Harmful some parents believe that their authority is being undermined by
comprehensive programs. Comprehensive programs to encourage the use of contraceptives,
even acknowledging the fact that they can be accessed without parental consent. This has been
heavily debated, some parents believe it is encouraging promiscuity and deceitful behavior
while others believe it is promoting their kids to make safe choices if they are too embarrassed
to ask for their parents permission to get contraceptives. According to an article titled

To Kill A Mockingbird Prejudice Quotes
Prejudice in the 1930 s destroyed many African Americans chances at a normal life, how does Harper
Lee show that in To Kill a Mockingbird ? Harper Lee s To Kill A Mockingbird is a story depicting a
family (Atticus, Scout, and Jem) living in the fictional town of Maycomb county, and a world of
racism. Harper Lee shows in To Kill A Mockingbird how biases of skin color won over jurys and
policemen, the hard living conditions that the African Americans had to go through, and the outcomes
of whites who were against the prejudice.
First of all, the living conditions after African Americans were freed weren t the best, houses were
often shacks with walls made out of scrap. The First purchase, a local church the African Americans
had bought with their first wages, hence the name. Harper Lee showed the poverty by writing this, A
few graves in the cemetery were marked with crumbling tombstones ; newer ones were outlined with
brightly colored glass and broken coca cola bottles. (119) This quote from the book shows how poor
the African Americans really were, couldn t pay for new graves, or even flowers. ... Show more

The Maze Runner Series Of Books
I ve been an avid reader since an early age. From grades three to about eight, I read almost every night
and I read so much that I got in trouble quite a lot for reading. I haven t read a whole lot in the past
few years because there haven t really been any series that interested me. The Maze Runner series was
really good and I read that last year. The last good series before that was the Gone series. In addition
to books, I spent, and still do spend, a lot of time on the internet reading about topics that interest me. I
m constantly looking for new books to read. I also really liked the Harry Potter series of books, I read
them all in the eighth grade.
I remember when I was young I read a lot of books. I kind of hit my peak with reading at age ten
through eleven. I read every night, sometimes I would read up until midnight. I read so much that I
actually got in trouble at school multiple times for reading while class was going on. I remember a
moment when the teacher was so frustrated with me for reading while he was talking, he berated me in
front of the class. That wasn t a good experience, and I remember being really embarrassed. I had a lot
of bullying problems at the time and a few of them were in that class, so that gave them more ammo.
But that was just one time, and normally I was just told to put the book away.
In the seventh grade, I found the Gone series of books. It was about a event in a small town in
California that sealed a opaque dome around a

Football Abuse Research Paper
It was without a doubt that every American is familiar with the fanatic insanity that follows the game
of football. Moreover, for those who are unfamiliar with American culture, most would be amazed
how much football influences American society; specifically the nation s adolescence. As a matter of
fact, it has been estimated by the National Federation of State High School Association that there are
approximately 1.1 million high school players in the country (Petraglia et al 4). However, despite
football s popularity among youth, it is irresponsible for a parent to allow their son to play football
without knowing the significant abuse a child will endure on the field. In reality, Football is a cruel
barbaric sport that exploits the safety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Either way, no sport is worth risking one s life for, so why should parents set themselves up for such
tragedy. As testimony, in the article This is your Brain on Football by Paul Solotaroff, Joan Pelly a
mother of a son who played football gives readers insight at how football took away her son
Eric(Solotaroff 1). As a matter of fact, Eric was an athletic, all A s student at his high school, who had
only suffered a couple concussions by the time he reached 17; however as the insidious effects of
multiple concussions started to catch up a year later his friends began to notice(Solotaroff 2). One
friend states, we ate lunch together and he wasn t all there, [he] said his head was hurting bad (as qtd.
in Solotaroff 2) also I met him in the hall and saw the same thing: he couldn t focus or really follow
the conversations (as qtd. in Solotaroff 2). In other words this was essentially Eric s body crying for
medical attention that he never got because he continued to play and fight through it (Solotaroff 2).
Unfortunately, it was too late and Eric seized up during a typical family dinner which resulted in his
brain to swell up so much that it crushed his brainstem and shorted out his heart and lungs (as qtd. in
Solotaroff 2). No parent should ever have to bury their own son at the age of 18, no one will ever

Ethical Virtue Is A State Of The Soul
The definition of ethical virtue is one of the difficult themes that are often discussed by many
philosophers. In Nicomachean EthicsⅡ.6, Aristotle defines ethical virtue as (a) a state that decides,(b)
in a mean, (c) the mean relative to us, (d) which is defined by reference to reason, (e) i.e. to the reason
by reference to which the intelligent person would define it. (NEⅡ.6) But, this definition itself is
complex. Then, in this paper, I will explain what he means by this and evaluate this definition. First,
Aristotle claims virtue should be a state that makes a human good and makes him function well. In
Nicomachean EthicsⅡ.5, he concluded that ethical virtue is a state of the soul. On the basis of this
conclusion, he starts to discuss what kind of state is ethical virtue. Then, as a premise, he defines
every virtue should make its possessors be in a good state and perform their functions well. The virtue
of a horse, for example, makes the horse excellent because it is good at galloping, at running, and at
carrying its rider. In the case of human being, therefore, the virtue is the state that makes a human
being good and perform his or her function well. Next, he claims mean states should be ethical virtue.
A mean is a middle or intermediate between excess and deficiency. He claims those extreme states are
vices because they make human being perform worse. Bravery, for example, is a virtue that makes
people deal with a difficult situation with confidence. If, however,

Claude Monet Research Paper
The Water lily s Claude Monet Has been a big interest of mine after last summer. Last summer I
traveled to Pairs and was super exited to see the Monet s garden on my journey. This was one of the
best days in my travel to see this Monet s garden and house. After touring the garden I was astonished
by the view. When I toured Claude Monet s house I was interested in him as an artist and wanted to
know more about him. His paintings and garden were beautiful, breathtaking, and I enjoyed every
minute that I spent there. Claude oscar Monet was born in Laffitte in Pairs on November 14th 1840.
His parents were Adolphe and Louise Justine Aubrée Monet, His mother was a singer and father was a
grocery store owner. On April 18 Claude was accepted in to the secondary art school of Le Havre. He
became known for his charcoal drawings that he sold for money and took a class for drawing. Though
is time working with drawing he meet artist Eugène Boudin, which became his mentor. Monet was
mentored by Eugène Boudin in how to use oil paint, thus started Claude s love ... Show more content

there as gorgeous, wonderful, and breathe taking as the description makes it seem. I have also seen a
number of Claude paintings in his house, not only did he paint landscape and seascapes he also
painted his wife, and so much other important paintings to him. Claude was a very brilliant painter
that loved flowers and nature. Researching and reading about the different paintings takes me back to
the garden and his house looking at all the magnificent art works. His work is extraordinaire to me and
I believe that anyone that is interested in art, loves art, or just loves flowers should go to his house and
garden in Pairs if they ever got the chance. It was one of my favorite places on my trip in Pairs and I
would gladly go back if I ever got the

Leadership Competencies: Are we all saying the same thing?
Jeffrey D. Horey Caliber Associates 49 Yawl Dr. Cocoa Beach, FL 32931 horeyj@calib.com Jon J.
Fallesen, Ph.D. Army Research Institute Ft. Leavenworth, KS jon.fallesen@leavenworth.army.mil
In the course of developing an Army leadership competency framework focused on the Future Force
(up to year 2025), the authors examined several existing U.S. military and civilian leadership
competency frameworks. We attempt to link the core constructs across the frameworks and identify
similarities and differences in terms of their content and structures. We conclude that leadership
competency modeling is an inexact science and that many frameworks present competencies that mix
functions and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Employees want information about what they are required to do (or confirmation of what they think
they are supposed to do) in their jobs or positions. The operative word here is do . They typically do
not want to know what they are supposed to be . This simple representation of leadership requirements
helps us establish a context for evaluating leadership competencies and frameworks/models. Those
that are stated only as traits, characteristics, or in attribute terms are, in our estimation, less valuable
than those that are stated in task, function, and behavioral terms. However, models that address both
aspects of leadership may prove to be more valuable to more individuals.
The purpose in establishing competencies for leaders should be to better define what functions
leaders must perform to make themselves and others in their organizations effective. Many
competency definitions include reference to clusters of knowledges, skills, abilities, and traits that lead
to successful performance (Newsome, Catano, Day, 2003). Yet competency labels are typically
expressed in either process or functional terms. This can lead to confusion as to what competencies
actually represent for leadership and organizations. Competency frameworks or models should serve
as the roadmap to individual and organizational leader success. The value of competencies

Stereotypes In King Kong
The character of Kong, according to the race reading, independently acts as a semiotic representation
of the white man s perception of black men. The film s narrative takes us to Africa, asks the audience
to embark on an adventure to a land so lost to the modern world that its inhabitants exist side by side
with dinosaurs, which Brian McKay argues to be the most obvious symbol for the perceived primitive
nature of Africa and Blacks (McKay, 2005) The gorilla that they bring back from that island may now
be an icon of popular culture in himself, but before King Kong was released there was another image
of popular social consciousness that he was associated with, which were the disturbingly
dehumanizing cartoons of black people as monkeys popularized ... Show more content on

O Rourke comments that this is one of the primary challenges of the remake of King Kong stating that
the film must offer up a more plausible sexual politics an update to Cooper s archetypal damsel in
distress menaced by a powerful, chest beating simian. (O Rourke, 2005) The initial way in which this
is done is by modernizing the gender role of the Ann Darrow character. While Fay Wray s portrayal
may have been the archetypal damsel in distress in early 20th century cinema, Watts Darrow is more
faithful to the image the post World War II, post Women s Liberation woman. Edelstein applauds this
change, stating that the filmmakers astutely [...] de bimboify Ann Darrow, who s now a vaudeville
performer with a tender regard for an old duffer on the edge of losing what livelihood she has. She s
tempted, but she won t debase herself by doing striptease. She s inspired by the work of Jack Driscoll,
a social dramatist in the Clifford Odets mode. (Edelstein, 2005) When she comes face to face with
Kong she is obviously initially terrified, but in a later scene where he entertains himself by pushing
her to the ground she angrily tells him to stop, which he reluctantly obeys. Watts Ann is a strong,
independent, and intelligent character far more likely to generate empathy amongst a modern female
audience than

Essay about Understanding Individual Resistance in...
Due to economic environment that is increasingly volatile, change is necessary and inevitable within
any organisation with resistance to change as a key concept (Hayes 2010). It s been suggested that one
of the main reasons organisation face resistance is due to Parochial self interest , whereby some
individuals are more concerned with their individual vested interest and how it will be compromised
when the change takes place (Agocs 1997). It s been suggest that the most important aspect of an
organisational change is to understand an individual resistance groups don t change, teams don t

the organisation determines the outcome (Hayes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also Agocs (1997) suggested that change need to be understood and managed in a way that people can
cope effectively with it. One ways individual may resist organisational change, is when an Individual
within a group selects information which reinforces their subjective belief, values and the status quo
or the change represents uncertainty, they fear the unknown or they are concerned about their own
personal failure (Kotze 2006). Hultman (1995 cited in Kotze 2006) argued that resistance consists of
two dimensions, active and passive. Passive resistance is displayed by behaviours such as public
support, but failure to implement the change, delaying, and withholding information or support. Active
resistance includes behaviours such as being critical, selective use of facts, sabotaging, and starting
rumours. Personal factors are potential source of resistance to change, habits play a crucial role in
determines whether the individual increases their resistant, in particular if they are deeply held habits
serves their self interest (Dennis and Garman 2010). Also, individual resistant can be stated through
false census, whereby an individual expresses their self interest visibly. Therefore, what is needed is to
question the basic underlying assumption that could be play a role in a supporting the individual and
group resistance (Kotze 2006). Also related to personal factors as sources of resistance to change, it is

  • 3. Morality In Plato s Euthyphro Morality in Euthyphro To reach an understanding whether acts are immoral or moral we must ask ourselves what we consider to be immoral or moral. According to Protagoras first claim on moral relativism, he states Man is the measure of all things, of the things that are, that they are, and of the things that are not, that they are not. The way something appears to me, is true to me and the way something appears to you, is true to you. Consequently, meaning there is no absolute truth. If Euthyphro thinks punishing his father for unmoral acts is moral than that is right for him. Both Plato and Aristotle would think that Protagoras s claims are contradicting because if he says that relativism is truth for him than it would be false for those who don t believe in relativism. Aristotle and Plato believe that there must be an objective truth, something that is true for everyone at any given place or time. Taking an objective approach may not always be relevant, particularly in cases where it is impossible to be objective because of the relevant facts and viewpoints. In this case, how can someone know for sure that there is universal truth? Not everyone is going to believe in the same principles as others, regardless of time, culture, place, etc. Therefore, I believe there is no objective truth to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the value of the building is based on subjective value and Dollar value. Sullivan recommends that both come into play. Human nature determines the subjective value, which is more permanent, but money value is inseparable from the affairs of life. Roman temple: Sullivan talked about how roman temples are place in great modern cities, at the same time having a strenuous sight, sound, that remind the people of their god. Such a holy precinct shall be doubly sacred to us in our reverence for this union of old and new. An example of how a building can be highly subjective, take for example a bank. Just as we discussed in class, a Bank wants their building to seem powerful with strong values. Sullivan disagrees that banks in America should not resemble a Roman Temple. He believes that it should belong to ancient romans and that banks can make as much money in any kind of bank. Thus no need for imitations. It was a part of Roman life and their culture, and that goes along with the Roman glory, thus building temples all over resemble a roman death. Taste: It expresses a familiarity with current persons of the culture, or trends. When an architect loses trust from the people at large, this is called weak taste. I always consider taste as what the market demands, for example having garages in suburban houses because of the demand for car and storage area. A Department Store:

In the play, she brags about how she once had 17 gentlemen callers (Williams 680) one night in her past. Amanda also keeps a larger than life size photograph over the mantel (Williams 679) of Tom and Laura s father who gave up his job with the telephone company and skipped the light fantastic out of town... To keep a huge, framed photographed of an ex husband can only mean that she is either still hung up on him after he left, or she wants her children to know what their father looked like. Either way, this is still an excellent example as to how Amanda is living in the past. Another way Amanda is always living in the past is how she reacts when she finds how there is a gentlemen caller for her daughter Laura. She wants to make a good first impression on Laura s first gentlemen caller, as she sees it as a ticket for Laura to be successful, so she puts on an old dress that she has and mentions how she had it on the day (she) met her father (Williams 699). For many same sex couples across the United States of America this is a reality. Even though great strides have been made in the advancement of gay rights, homosexual couples still face opposition from the Federal Government by being denied the right to a marriage. Same sex marriages should be constitutionalized. Currently six states and one territory issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples. These states are Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont plus the District of Columbia (Human Rights Campaign). Though these states and Washington, D.C. allow gay marriage, these couples still do not have the same rights and benefits as heterosexual couples. There are many financial benefits received from a marriage which make it appealing to same sex couples. These rights and federal tax benefits are given to married heterosexual couples, but homosexual couples do not receive them. Such benefits include the couple filing for joint tax returns and inheriting money or property from his or her spouse without paying tax (Zajac, Koova, and Rocks 29). Due to the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which states marriage as being a legal coming together of husband and wife (Zajac, Koova, and Rocks 29), marriages for same sex couples are deemed unconstitutional. This means that even though a state may approve and allow a gay couple to be married , the Federal Government prohibits it. The earliest research of blood transfusion started in the 17th century, a British physician named William Harvey discovered the circulation and properties of blood, which then inspired others to operate blood transfusions. This led to the first successful blood transfusion in 1665, which was performed by Richard Lower in England. The population grew from 18,000 in 1750 to over 300,000 by the census of 1851. This growth called for more homes and factories to be built in order to support the growing population. The first difficulty was accurately modeling the nature of such a shock. There was certainly a large negative shock to the population and the labor force in 1918 and 1919, but there is strong reason to believe that this shock affected population and labor force growth rates substantially beyond these two years. Since a large proportion of the deaths occurred among those aged 15 to 44, the epidemic undoubtedly adversely affected family formation and fertility for years after the epidemic. However, data limitations make it difficult to precisely estimate this effect. • 27. Religious Conflict Of Dante s Inferno Jessica Gay World Literature Dr. Schott 9 November 2014 Religious Conflict in Dante s Inferno Critics Daniel Tompsett and Donald Winchester and literary scholar Nicole Rudick have argued that Dante s Inferno is a dark and hopeless telling of how we are all relegated to sin and lack the will or righteousness to turn from sin and temptation. Tompsett and Winchester state that, The placement of living figures in each section was a judgment and a condemnation, albeit subjective, on both history and the people he knew (Tompsett). They both agree that Dante is painting a picture of the dredges of society and the torture that they must endure as a result of their inability to turn from sin. They also quote scholar David H. Higgins to say that Dante arguably believed he was writing a gospel to convert his recalcitrant age (Tompsett). Scholar and critic Nicole Rudick confirms this portrayal of dismal hopelessness with her comment, Dante created a rigid view of good and evil, showing no mercy for those who did not repent during their lifetimes and sparing no one in his accounting of misdeeds, vice, immorality, and generally inappropriate comportment (Rudick 29). It is my opinion that the aforementioned scholars and critics are missing Dante s point. When I read the poem I am overcome with quite the opposite view. • 31. Causes Of The Industrial Revolution By 1750, there was not much doubt that if any country was going to triumph in being the first industrial power it would be England (Hobsbawm 29). However, several factors were responsible for England s emergence as an industrial power. Some of the contributing factors for the Industrial Revolution were: the increasing importance of imperial goods such as cotton, cultural traditions that stemmed from the Renaissance and the Reformation, population change, and a government willing to subordinate all foreign policy to its economic ends. Socially, the Industrial Revolution in England changed exponentially with the growing drift between the class hierarchy. Instead of reverting to social revolution as occurred in France, England experienced political reform during the Industrial Revolution that would become a symbol of hope for thriving countries. There has been much speculation on the exact reason the Industrial Revolution began in England in the late 18th Century, but certain components are undisputed for the Revolution s occurrence there. Initially, Britain already had a large, developed supply of coal and iron which gave the British a start in mass metallurgy (Perry 286). There also was a surplus of capital available for investments to be made in new industries; however, these funds came from wealthy landowners and merchants who had grown rich in commerce through the slave trade (Perry 287). Joseph M.Balikuddembe a senior advisor to the King and a Catholic convert condemned Mwanga for ordering the Bishop s death especially with out giving him a chance to defend him self as was customary. Mwanga in retaliation ordered the arrest and execution of Balikuddembe on November 15, 1885 as the first Catholic martyr. Mwanga II precipitated the show down in May 1886 by ordering the converts to choose between their new faith, and complete obedience to his orders. Those unwilling to renounce their new faith would be subjected to death. Courageously, the neophytes chose their faith. The execution of twenty six Christians at Namugongo on June 3, 1886; was the climax of the campaign against the converts. To date, 3 June is a public holiday in Uganda for commemorating the Uganda Martyrs. • 37. Behavioral Patterns Of The Family System Every family has a unique system with a set of rules, mostly unspoken, that govern their behavior and interactions. In dysfunctional families, the symptom of their dysfunction is typically sourced within their family system. The symptom also has a function it protects family members from uncomfortable conflict. Dysfunctional families and couples often maintain negative patterns of interacting, and are unable to transition into new behavioral patterns without therapeutic intervention. In order to help families develop out of their systematic ways of behaving, it is important to understand the specific family system that is presented. With a keen understanding of the family s culture, beliefs, etc., the therapist can develop therapeutic rituals, which are prescribed actions aimed at altering behavioral patterns that are responsible for maintaining the symptom. The ritual is not a verbal explanation or criticism of the family system, rather it is a specific set of actions designed to help families create new patterns of interaction and meaning in their relationships. (p, 5). Symbols, time and place, and open and closed aspects are fundamental elements that are used to construct rituals. Accompanying this, the sources of protein available now, would not be sufficient in terms of the leanness of the meat available in the Stone Age. Therefore, the exact diet could either come as no benefit or a breakthrough in subsiding or at least promoting ways to encourage good health behaviours. The theory behind this ultimately aims at decreasing the percentage of overweight people and other affiliated health issues. Even after evolutionary biologists analysed the remains of the Tyrolean Iceman (Keller et al., 2012) found in Tisenjoch Pass in the Italian part of the Ötztal Alps , evidence of calcification in his major cardiovascular arteries was found. This is an interesting development as the man was also seen to have been lactose intolerant. This shows that the Paleo diet that he was consuming did not restrict the intake of calcium, despite not consuming it in the way modern society does today in the form of dairy products (Keller et al., 2012). The Paleo diet has recently come into the media with the publication of the book The Paleo Solution by Cordain , an affiliation to the previous released work targeted at athletes. • 45. Ethical Virtue Is A State Of The Soul The definition of ethical virtue is one of the difficult themes that are often discussed by many philosophers. In Nicomachean EthicsⅡ.6, Aristotle defines ethical virtue as (a) a state that decides,(b) in a mean, (c) the mean relative to us, (d) which is defined by reference to reason, (e) i.e. to the reason by reference to which the intelligent person would define it. (NEⅡ.6) But, this definition itself is complex. Then, in this paper, I will explain what he means by this and evaluate this definition. First, Aristotle claims virtue should be a state that makes a human good and makes him function well. In Nicomachean EthicsⅡ.5, he concluded that ethical virtue is a state of the soul. On the basis of this conclusion, he starts to discuss what kind of state is ethical virtue. Then, as a premise, he defines every virtue should make its possessors be in a good state and perform their functions well. The virtue of a horse, for example, makes the horse excellent because it is good at galloping, at running, and at carrying its rider. In the case of human being, therefore, the virtue is the state that makes a human being good and perform his or her function well. Next, he claims mean states should be ethical virtue. A mean is a middle or intermediate between excess and deficiency. He claims those extreme states are vices because they make human being perform worse. Bravery, for example, is a virtue that makes people deal with a difficult situation with confidence. If, however, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They typically do not want to know what they are supposed to be . This simple representation of leadership requirements helps us establish a context for evaluating leadership competencies and frameworks/models. Those that are stated only as traits, characteristics, or in attribute terms are, in our estimation, less valuable than those that are stated in task, function, and behavioral terms. However, models that address both aspects of leadership may prove to be more valuable to more individuals. The purpose in establishing competencies for leaders should be to better define what functions leaders must perform to make themselves and others in their organizations effective. Many competency definitions include reference to clusters of knowledges, skills, abilities, and traits that lead to successful performance (Newsome, Catano, Day, 2003). Yet competency labels are typically expressed in either process or functional terms. This can lead to confusion as to what competencies actually represent for leadership and organizations. Competency frameworks or models should serve as the roadmap to individual and organizational leader success. The value of competencies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Passive resistance is displayed by behaviours such as public support, but failure to implement the change, delaying, and withholding information or support.
