My Political Philosophy
My Political Philosophy Political Philosophy is typically a study of a wide range of topics such as,
justice, liberty, equality, rights, law, politics and the application of a codified law. Depending on what
the philosophy is, it usually tends to be a very sensitive and a personal ideology that an individual
holds within the reality of their existence. Several of the fundamental topics of political philosophy
shape up the society that we live in as these specific topics and their implementation by the state
ensures a legitimate government. In Political Philosophy, the aforesaid concepts or topics are
evaluated and analyzed with tremendous depth in context to their history and intent. Furthermore, in a
rather colloquial sense, political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is important because inequality causes unrest and brings about interminable turmoil which can
eventually lead to a collapse of a regime or a state. If every human being is given equal opportunities
then the outcome after those opportunities were presented, whether it was success of failure, fully rests
upon the individual s shoulders. In case of failure, the government or any other individual would not
be held accountable. Freedom is another core value that should be given precedence over all other
values and beliefs because it is a mode or a state where an individual is free to speak, act and seek
contentment without the restraint of an outside force. It gives one the notion that anything and
everything is possible. It also encourages free and authentic thought which is fundamental for the
progression of a society. People should be given the freedom to make their own choices and follow
them through without any reluctance or fear that they will be penalized. Of course, the freedom of
thought and expression also comes with a condition, which is, that those thoughts and expressions
should not become a nuisance for others. In other words, those thoughts and expressions should not
have adverse affect for others.

Thesis Statement Of Sweatshops
The Benefits Behind Sweatshops
Thesis statement: Sweatshops, when left to operate without government intervention, are the most
efficient way of out poverty.
Introductory rationale: When it comes to social justice issues, most people believe the government
needs to solve the problem. Social justice in sweatshops is no exception. In my research, I have found
that what people see as the cause of injustice in developing countries, sweatshops, are actually what is
responsible for lifting people up out of poverty. As a result, any sort of government regulation will fail
to solve the problem. The audience I am writing for is a diverse group of peers who are concerned
with social justice though they may have different solutions and beliefs about the topic. My goal in
this draft is to expand their knowledge and show them the benefits of not interfering with the free
market.
I. Claim 1: Sweatshops increase the standards of living for the workers and their communities

Gender Beliefs Of Gender Bias In The Workplace
Gender Bias in the Workplace
Brittney A. Bray
College of Central Florida
Stereotypes
Women have long fought for the right to be viewed as equal within the work place. Over the past
decades the percentage of women in management has risen from a mere 13.8% in 1950 to 50.6% in
2007 (Latu, 2000). However, gender stereotype bias and discrimination are still present in the modern
workforce. Gender stereotypes are beliefs of how men and women should be and act. When evaluators
don t have clear criteria, ambiguity causes gender stereotypes to fill the voids. Leading to differences
in the way men and women are evaluated. This happens, in most cases, on an unconscious level,
though it does still occur consciously. It has been shown by psychologists that we routinely categorize
individuals within milliseconds of meeting them, we classify them by their gender. In doing this we
assume they will possess certain gender role traits, either feminine or masculine. Men are expected to
have strong leadership traits, while women are known to have nurturing, submissive qualities. The
cause of gender discrimination is based on cultural beliefs and organizational policies. Women are
most vulnerable to gender discrimination and sexual harassment when they are in a male dominated
environment, they may also be perceived as a threat.
How gender stereotypes put women at a disadvantage.
When woman don t conform to their gender roles they are often criticized. For example; when Hilary

The Importance Of Energy
Energy is a crucial necessity in life for humans and wildlife. Quality of life is dependent on our
accessibility of energy. The environmental crisis has been felt by everyone in some way. The need for
energy continues to increase as the population grows. Relying on past resources for energy will
continue to torment the environment and negatively impact the level of supply. Energy is a resource
that can be depleted if the abuse continues. Pollution from energy sources has caused the environment
to deteriorate. The negative influences from energy sources has caused health problems, loss of
wildlife and abuse of other resources. In order to protect public health and the future of the
environment, preventable measures must be taken.
Energy is used for everything we do in life. The two types of energy sources are renewable and
nonrenewable. Nonrenewable energy is a source that cannot be used again because it does not renew
itself. Renewable energy is a source that can be used again because it can be replenished. There are
different sources available for each type of energy. Each resource has its own advantages and
disadvantages. Each source has economic and ecological impacts that need to be evaluated.
More than 80% of energy in the US comes from fossil fuels (Eia). Fossil fuel is the world s primary
energy source (Eia). Fossil fuels are used for transportation, heating and electricity. Natural gas is used
for electricity and heating homes and buildings. Coal is used to generate

The Role of African Americans in the Revolutionary War Essay
The Role of African Americans in the Revolutionary War
An estimated 100,000 African Americans escaped, died or were killed during the American
Revolution(Mount). Roughly 95% of African Americans in the United States were slaves, and because
of their status, the use of them during the revolution was inevitable(Mount). This led many Americans,
especially those from the North, to believe that the South s economy would collapse without slavery
due to the use of slaves on the front lines. However, only a small percentage of the slave population
enlisted in either army.
The concept of using slaves as soldiers was hardly revolutionary. Blacks had served our country with
honor and bravery since the country s earliest days. Not only did the ... Show more content on

The British saw Washington s original actions and promised emancipation for all slaves who fought
for England. Washington s position towards blacks had made it clear that the individuals running the
revolution were not interested in black freedom, so the British offer literally produced a flood of
African American volunteers to the British Army. The escaped slaves were not merely good soldiers;
they were passionate and saw the British cause as a way to rebel against their American masters.
Despite being on the losing end of the war, slaves who fought for the British in the American
Revolution mark the beginning of an emancipation movement.
The center of the Southern economy was the slaves and their contribution to the plantation owners.
Southern agriculture was founded on the cultivation of tobacco, wheat, and corn in Virginia,
Maryland, and North Carolina, and of rice and indigo in South Carolina and Georgia. These crops
were cultivated with the help of black slaves, those that were not fighting in the war effort. Slaves
were the only reason there was enough money to pay for the war and political events. As a matter of
fact, most of America s political leaders were slaveholders themselves, including Thomas Jefferson,
James Madison, and Alexander Hamilton(Davis 116).

The Doctor Of Nursing Practice ( Dnp ) Program
Since the capstone project started early on beginning of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
program, I was able to discuss and work personally with Dr. Spicer as my practice mentor in selecting
the appropriate topic for my project. Dr. Spicer was very involved in choosing my second option for
new capstone project # 1 related to simulation lab and faculty teaching and learning. The patient
simulation laboratory (SIM lab) uses state of the art equipment that provides students and faculty with
the opportunity to tackle real life scenarios in a safe and supported environment. Further, I learned that
active learning involves the faculty through participation and investment in exploring content
knowledge in all phases of the learning process. It requires educational activities that provide faculty
with the opportunity to engage actively in courses and respond to the learning situation.
My initial problem was my capstone project # 3 on how can a charge nurse help patient s family cope
and avoid the effects of ICU decisions that could lead to post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)? I was
informed by Dr. Spicer that the initial approval of capstone #3 may have legal consequences per legal
department for Kaiser Permanente because of contract issue that would cause further delay in my
advancement in the DNP program. He further advised me to contact my academic mentor Dr. Carrion
to inquire about changing the approved capstone project. Telephone conference was initiated with Dr.

History Of National History Day District Competition
Oh, have I caught your attention? Obviously, I did, with such an eye catching blog post title like that.
Apparently Marc Gamayo beat me to a blog post of National History Day District competition (I
should have done it early, aaaaa) that took place at Ewa Makai Middle School where participants
would be interviewed for their projects and to know who are going to state competition. Warning!
Super long schedule of what I did on Saturday for NHD district competition. Skip to end for a recap of
what I did and thoughts from the experience. For my group s interview, Quincee and me (yes, sadly
there was no Jacob), to my surprise, went well. I say this because I can say that I was prepared and
there was little to no hesitation in answering or responding to my interview, making a good
impression; however, my partner only spoke once and that was due to not being able to hear our
speaker and the eye contact confused him (Quincee). After the interview, there wasn t much to do
since our interview finished at about 9:07 or so and there were no available activities, so we (Quincee
and me) explored the campus a bit more, and I have to say I m impressed; the campus was more
complex, the campus displayed wise students, and had air conditioning that was spread to pretty much
every area (except the bathroom), so sorry, (I m gonna get hate from this) I think our school is inferior
to this school. After exploring, it was about 9:35 and we headed back to the cafeteria for some reason I

Problems Faced By The And Corporate Culture
4.The problems of the mergers in technology industry During the integration process after merging,
the clash of the human resources and the corporate culture will arise. Merger always takes risk on
some extent, so some employees will feel unsafe about their job, which will cause the lost of the
human resources. What s more, to optimize the new employee structure and reduce labor cost, amount
of employees will face to be laid off. Such a large personnel change will cut down the investors trust,
because the investor will suspect the stability of the new combined company. Even two similar
technology companies still have different corporate culture which can represent the companies brand
images and affect the customers loyalty. They may produce the similar products, but they may differ
in the business ideas and background. Hence, how to integrate two companies corporate culture in
order to exert the joint corporate value is difficult for the new combined company. If the new
combined company abandoned one of the company s corporate culture, they will lose part of
customers who already lose the faith to the company. How to integrate the two technology companies
technology is important for the development of the new combined company in the future after
merging. If two companies have lots of overlapping business and their technologies level are different,
then the new company must consider integrating the technology to complement and balance the
technology level so that can

Africa By Mckay
Claude McKay s Africa is an English sonnet also known as a traditional literary poem. It starts with an
opening The sun sought thy dim bed and brought forth light . Referring to historical and scientific
debate on of the African origins of the nation. This can also be related to biblical terminology, dim
being Africa s unlighted knowledge prior to God s intervention and it also can be inferred that he is
referring to the rich melanin of descendants from Africa.
The next line, The sciences were sucklings at thy breasts, plays on theory of Africa being the Mother
Land or The Mecca .This is where essentially civilization begins, just like a mother having a child.
The mother is a natural nurturer and essentially Mckay tied in the correlation in the second line.
Mother Africa, a nurturer, raises and encourages the sciences, actions that foreshadow another
brightening of the world to come in the Enlightenment. Lines three and four are also portraying a

The reputation is now condemned, however, it is possible for Africa to be saved, by taking a deeper
look at Mckay s simple word play. If the lines read Of all the mighty nations of the sun, / Thou art the
harlot, now thy time is done, Africa would be made out to be a wayward woman worthy of scorn
because of her blatant disregard to moral restraints. Instead, the lines state, Thou art the harlot, now
thy time is done, Of all the mighty nations of the sun. The couplet suggests in a twisted way that
Africa was pimped by the new peoples as they admire Africa s beauty and wanted the same by any
means necessary. In a Mckay s very particular placement of words, Africa does not simply lose its
honor , glory, and power; like a thief in the night and within a blink of an eye it was all

Comic Books Are Important For The World
Comic books are important to the world for the fact that they represent a portion of the population that
like to fantasize that they can escape the hardships of everyday life. In comic books people can be a
hero, a villain, or a bystander that learns an important lesson from observing the two (Bendis 2).
Grant Morrison discusses his views on the difference of the ages and their views on comics:
Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of
everyday life. Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can
possibly run a multibillion dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the
answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The busy lifestyle, the children s needs, all those requirements play a role in time constraints. Comic
books offer a solution to the everyday, active person (Bendis 1). The reader is usually short on time so
he or she must be intrigued immediately for the comic to gain full attention. As soon as the reader
commits himself or herself, the situation changes. He or she is thrown into an unknown situation that
demands total attention (1). The plot is pulled together and the hero is cast in circumstances that
demand a resolve. A confrontation follows and against seemingly impossible odds, the hero finds an
answer within an unlikely source that the reader would believe they could also find if put in the same
situation. Once the comic book is finished being read, the readers recognize that very little time has
gone by and they can continue on with their normal lives.
The understanding of the comic book doesn t end there. The reader now has time to think on what
they just read, what could have been done, what should have been done and other possible outcomes
to the plot. This can be done while daydreaming at school or bored to death at work. The importance
of contemplating the different endings of a comic book is the fact that it makes the reader truly think (
Bendis 2). The reader must have a sort of interactive imagination that allows them to comprehend to
underlying lesson within every comic.
Comic books are almost a necessity in life because people

Benito Cereno
In her article entitled Black Masks: Melville s Benito Cereno , Jean Fagan Yellin says that when
Benito Cereno, Herman Melville s tale of slave revolt, appeared in 1855, it made use of Negro
stereotypes already standard in American fiction (Yellin 678). Captain Amasa Delano is characterized
as the typical Yankee man. Yellin elaborates on this by analyzing his self important, authoritarian
persona, observing that he is investigating the strange ship, self righteously expounding the doctrine of
work, officiously planning to manage affairs on the San Dominick, proudly resentful of any implied
social slight, and in no way averse, after helping the distressed Spaniard, to totting up the price he
expects to be paired for his trouble. He smugly believes himself the peculiarly favored child of
Providence (Yellin 682). When we view him in contrast with Cereno, an aristocratic European, Delano
can now be assessed as representation of the idealistic New World Man or the typical American white
man, meaning he is seen as democratic, compassionate, generous, capable of decisive action, although
blind to evil and unable to learn from his experience (Yellin 682). This is best exemplified in his views
of the black slaves on the San Dominick. His assumptive thinking is prevalent in the story because
throughout his initial exploration of the San Dominick, he buys into the illusion that what is happening
upon the ship is not deviating from reality. The presentation of black slaves as

As a Designer
I must say that I was a little less than enthralled about receiving a project, which required me to hunt
down and interrogate an established designer to the point of annoyance. After reading the circulated
example and seeing that, the author Chris Metcalf, started with the same viewpoint. I began to be
swayed to the same train of thought, which had enlightened Chris. A sudden and drastic change in my
thoughts leads me to see that this is, hopefully, my final year as a student designer. The final year, in
which I can ask the questions, delve into, what is commonly believed to be, general knowledge within
the design field.

Or possibly it was the following sentence ( ...As designers we influence the way people interact with

product is my thoughts and aspirations for the product. These followed through from my thoughts
through my pencil into the final prototype and finally embedded in every one of product units
manufactured. The product may not be a direct extension of me but perhaps more closely a child of
personal progressions and growing pains as a designer. My thoughts on this topic lead me down a very
long and winding path where I eventually end up realising. Designers have a lot of power in how a

it some more I realise I would like to ask how far into the grey one can go with the bending of the

War Poems
War is a time of violence, protest, death and pain for many people around the world. With this conflict,
a lot of poetry is written because poetry is one of the most common ways for people to put across their
feelings about situations. War is one of these situations for which many people have very strong
feelings.
A common theme in war poetry is the transformation that war brings about in a person. Many poems
reveal boys going into war and becoming young men after the experience. Another dominant theme in
war poems is about the forgotten soldiers who lost their lives and weren t remembered.

However Gibson uses his words well and there are some smart lines throughout the poem. The
rhyming is very simple and the final word in each line rhymes with the other final word in each two

appropriate for the subject matter.
The poet s ability to use basic words, structure and rhythm appropriately enables him to create a smart
and crisp poem. The simplicity of the poem allows the readers to recognize the serious subject matter
of the poem, which is war.
This next poem was written by me. I got the inspiration for this poem after reading a number of other
war poems and remembering all the people who lost their lives at war. It is called Young lives lost
The eerie night was torn
By the blistering light of dawn
Many soldiers, many very young,
Their first time holding a gun.
Some no more than 16 years
Bravely holding back the burning tears
Youth s ignorance had been lost
The line of no return was crossed
War had turned these boys to men
Many would never see home again
And unless the senseless killing is ceased
The departed souls will never rest in peace.
My poem is written in a similar style to Gibsons poem. I followed the same rhyming patterns, and
used a simple structure, however my poem uses some slightly more complicated words. The general
theme is the same, but

So, in 2007, NVIDIA released CUDA, which provided the parallel architecture, to support the usage
of the GPUs. It was designed to work with programming languages such as C/C++ or Fortran and this
really helped specialists in parallel programming to use CUDA, rather than to learn other advanced
skills in GPU programming[10] . The model for GPU computing is to use a CPU and GPU together in
a heterogeneous co processing computing model[3]. The framework is designed such that the
sequential part of the application runs on the CPU and the computationally intensive part is
accelerated by the GPU. From the user s point of view, the application is faster because it is using the

Lets Put Pornography Back In The Closet Analysis
What is pornography? According to the dictionary pornography means Obscene writings, drawings,

An example is In many repressive countries whether in Central America, Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe,
or the Middle East, there is practically no pornography, but there is a great deal of sexism and violence
against women and men. (Dority). Dority explains that pornography is not the problem of violence in
a society where there isn t any pornography. Another example is Sexism and violence toward women,
and men, was a reality long before pornography as we know it today existed and long before there
were facilities for the mass distribution of words and images. Sexist and violent materials are
symptoms of a sexist and violent society not the causes. (Dority). Dority states that pornography isn t
the problem because sexism and violence where there first before pornography. People are the ones
who created an environment that was use to violent and sexism so they try to put the blame on porno
because it is the easy way out. If we see that in other countries pornography isn t the problem from

This chapter focuses on race and ethnicity. Race is a socially constructed definition based on some real

lineage (p. 178). Ethnicity is socially defined like race. Socially defining race and ethnicity is formed
by the concepts of race and ethnicity, majority minority relations, racism, and race and entity in global
context. The concepts of race and ethnicity are defined by the historically thinking about race, racial
categories, and racial and ethnic identities. Throughout time people are explained race through

Expulsion is removing a group of people from a territory, either directly being removed or voluntarily

Vulnerability And Risk Of Poor Health
INTRODUCTION Everyone is potentially vulnerable at some point over the extent of one s lifetime.
More specifically, everyone is potentially at risk of poor physical, psychological, or social health. The
word vulnerable is defined by the Merrian Webster s Dictionary as capable of being physically
wounded or open to attack or damage . Commonly, the word vulnerability indicates one s
susceptibility to health problems, harm or neglect. Some however, maybe more or less susceptible or
at risk of poor health at different times in their lives, while certain individuals and communities are
more likely to be at risk than others at any given point in time (Aday, 1994). Thus, vulnerable
populations may be defined as social groups with an increased susceptibility to adverse health
outcomes (Flaskerud Winslow, 1998). A fundamental component to the definition of vulnerability is
the concept of risk, or the relative probability that an individual may become ill within a given period
of time (Aday, 1994). Community and individual characteristics are risk factors predictive of the
incidence of vulnerability. Risk factors, for example smoking or lead exposure, are attributes that are
related to increases in the probability of occurrence of health related outcomes (Aday, 1998). Evidence
of differences in vulnerability or increased risk, which lead to negative health outcomes include:
premature mortality, comparative morbidity, decreased functional and mental status, decreased ability

Conscription In Canada Research Paper
It is a well known fact that through Canadian history, English and French Canadians did not get along
very well. French and English Canadians had many differences throughout history, and as time got
closer to the 21st century, situations between these two groups of people got worse and worse. Their
main differences, as seen in the visual component of my CPT, were usually around times of war, when
conscription was a very big topic. However, we cannot forget the post World War II situations that

Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau decided to implement a solution to finally stop the French
Canadians and English Canadians from constantly fighting with each other. Therefore, he developed
and passed the Official Languages Act, which was an act that would finally recognize the equal status
of English and French throughout the federal administration, and ensure that all federal institutions
provide their services in English or French at the customer s choice. This act allowed for French
Canadians to no longer be seen as a minority in Canada and to finally be recognized for who they are.
Having Prime Minister Trudeau work very hard to pass this act showed French Canadians that the
Federal Government had finally recognized all the injustices directed towards them, and that there was
no longer any need for fighting between French and English Canadians. The importance of this event
is that finally, French Canadians were seen and identified as actual Canadians , and this act is an
apology from the Federal government towards the French Canadians for all the injustice that had
happened to them in the past. The Official Languages Act was a way to show French Canadians that
the culture of the French was in no danger of disappearing (Patriquin, Canada s language wars are

An Investigation On Apples Tax Practices
Therefore, after immense speculation the EU opened an investigation on Apples tax practices in
Ireland. After an extensive investigation the EU issued a ruling that Apple must pay the Irish
government up to 13 million Euros in back corporate taxes. Apple is appealing the EU ruling indicting
that they did not violate any laws and should not be forced to pay back taxes. However the most
startling aspect of the case is that Ireland is actually siding with Apple and going against the EU. On
the flip side when you look at the intricacies of the situation Irish government is showing solidarity
with Apple because it is well aware of the benefits of having Apple conducting business in Ireland.
The Irish government knows that if Apple is forced to pay back taxes that they will conduct
significantly less business in Ireland which would hurt the Irish economy in the long run.

Leif Erikson s Discovery Of Vinland
After spending the winter in Vinland, Leif sailed back to Greenland, and never returned to North

America, 500 years before Christopher Columbus.Leif Erikson (also spelled Ericsson, or Eiriksson)
was the second of three sons of Erik the Red, who established a settlement in Greenland after he was
exiled from Iceland. Leif Erikson s story was recorded in several different sagas, but the accounts they
give are so different it is impossible to be certain of the details of his life.
He is thought to have visited Norway in around 1000 where he was converted to Christianity by Olaf
I, who sent him back to Greenland to convert the settlers there. In one story, on his voyage to
Greenland he sailed off course and arrived in a place he called Vinland , because of the abundant
grapes growing there, and the general fertility of the land. In another the Groenlandia saga he heard of
a land in the west from an Icelandic trader, and went to find it.The precise identity of Vinland remains
uncertain, with various locations on the North American coast identified. In 1963, archaeologists
found ruins of a Viking type settlement at L Anse aux Meadows, in northern Newfoundland, which

Human Ecology And Its Effects On Society
The world we live in is a complex place full of networks and connections that are often veiled from
our immediate perspectives. The natural resources and, material culture stemming from that, made
available to humans directly affect the ways in which we are able to organize and conduct our lives.
The ways in which we organize the space around us is a clear indication of wealth, race, or ethnicity.
The minorities are often kept in isolation from the wealthier areas of society (be that economic wealth
or natural resource wealth) which directly affects the jobs the minorities are able to obtain and further
inhibits a lessening of racism by preventing a mixed association of races and different groups of
people. Without the understanding of other people, racism is allowed to continue through the simple
lack of social interaction.
It is things such as these that interests ecologists. Human ecology is a study that focuses on
relationships between different social lives and the implications of the connections between those and
the physical world around them. A vivid example of the altered relations through a shifting physical
environment is found within the creation of central heating. Before each room was able to be heated,
families would often gather together in a central room where there was warmth around a fireplace.
This setting promoted people to interact on a regular basis and thus encourage the familial
relationship. After the creation of central heating, those

variety of clinical infections, ranging from septicemia to meningitis. The reported lethality of severe S.
agalactiae infections is ranging from 4 to 6% in the United States. Of note, it has been suggested that
the incidence of neonatal disease is considerably greater than reported, because the requirement for
positive cultures from blood or cerebrospinal fluid may underestimates the true burden of disease.
Therefore, in this review I focused on virulence factors of S. agalactiae in order to elucidate aspects of
the infection.
S. agalactiae is frequently colonizes rectovaginal tract. S. agalactiae is found in 15 40% of adult
women, and there is a 1% chance to be transmitted vertically from mother to infants before or during

is one of the most common infection among neonates with a mortality rates of 4 to 6% in the United
States. This type of infection is characterized with shock and breathing difficulties and occurs at birth
or within the first 6 days of life. This infant probably had become infected by ascending spread of the

Effects Of Advertising In Advertising
The Brain on Ads
We see advertisements every day. They are everywhere. Advertisements like to tell consumers what to
get and which is the best, saying that with this product it you will be happy and satisfied. Consumers
probably believe that they have their own preferences, but, what they believe is them choosing what to
buy and have, advertisements are subconsciously swaying them one way or another. Big advertising
companies makes people believe that one drink differs from the other or that one burger is better than
the competitor. According to The Brain: Marketing to your mind by Alice park. Alice brings up very
good claims on how advertising effects our brains; claiming that advertisements tap into our emotions
to sell and claims that these advertisements even trick many into that a brand image correlates to
satisfaction eventually creating brand loyalty just from seeing commercials. Alice Park shows us in
her article that big advertisement companies pull in many people with their appeal of the item from the
colors on the screen to the display of how the product is placed all to make their brand the best and
persuade us into buying it. Advertisements put all these effects in motion to get to the one main thing,
your perceptions. Perceptions play a large roll in these advertisements. An advertisement with
someone sipping on a coke and seems satisfied or when watching an Old Spice commercial that
someone who smells good also looks good, this all triggers something in us

The Theory Of The Firm Essay
Knowledge Resources in the Theory of the Firm
Proponents of the knowledge based theory of the firm point out that this one sided concentration on
incentive conflicts in the economics of organizational literature overlooks the production side of the
firm. Langlois and Foss, for example, argue that the literature has unreflectively relied on a dichotomy
between productive aspects and exchange aspects of the firm, that is, on a dichotomy between
production costs and exchange costs. In analyzing exchange costs the literature recognizes that
exchange itself is not costless, but involves transaction costs from imperfect knowledge and
opportunism. But in analyzing production costs, there has been an embedded agreement that price
theory tells us all we need to know about production. As Langlois and Foss point out, however, it is
very likely that knowledge about how to produce is imperfect and that knowledge about how to link
together one person s (or organization s) productive knowledge with that of another is imperfect.
These twin issues of capabilities and coordination are discrete from the hazards of astringent that other
traditional beliefs have focused on. Both knowledge resources and (imperfect) production costs can be
said to vary depending on the attributes of a production process, in the same way that transaction costs
differ depending on the asset attributes of investment projects. Thus, instead of holding technology
constant across alternative modes of organization as a

The Reasons Of Louis XVI, A Reign Of Terror
In the years from 1789 to 1799, many agree that they French revolution was a reign of terror. During
this time, the monarchy in France had undergone major change and finally was overthrown by the
unhappy French citizens. There were many reasons for this action of overthrowing the government,
some of which being high taxes, which only the third estate had to pay, the lack of participation that
king Louis and Marie Antoinette had shown whilst in power towards ruling the country. Louis XV
may have left France in a bad economic and social state and therefore the problems may have started

Is Punishment Justified
When punishment is only justified as a response to moral fault, obstinate questions may arise as to the
justification of punishment. This is what this piece seek to critically assess as it takes the stand that
punishment is justifiable when it is a response to moral fault. There are many definitions of
punishment as there are many philosophers and how they view punishment. However a few
definitions are accepted and well known worldwide. Punishment is some pain or penalty warranted by
law, inflicted on a person, for the commission of a crime or misdemeanor, or for the omission of the
performance of an act required by law, by the judgment and command of some lawful court . The
body of this piece is divided into three parts in which the first part will discuss the theories and
philosophies of retributivism. The second part will discuss my view on the topic, The Justification of
Punishment as a Response to Moral Fault . The last part however will discuss and contrast
retributivism to consequentialism. The philosophy behind Justification of Punishment pursues to
explain why punishment should exist and why it has to be justified. Hence Justification of punishment
usually takes two camps, the Retributivism camp and Consequentialism camps. ... Show more content

consequentialist undermines the dignity of man and rather end up changing individual to suit what

punishment is not justified. For this reason I stand to the notion that unless punishment is a response to
moral fault it is

There are a few reasons for having golden rules in the setting the first to help manage the behaviour of
the children which is a requirement from the EYFS (2017), as this will ensure the safety of others.
Secondly, to help the children to respect one another with is one of the characteristics of the British
Values (Citizen Foundation, 2017). Lastly, and most importantly is help provide a safer environment
for all the children. To see how the practitioner is aiming to implement the golden rules please see
appendix two.
The practitioner decided implement golden rules with the support of the children as this will make it
more meaning full for the children. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child
(UNCRC), is a legally binding international agreement which states in article 12 state that children
should be given the right to voice their views and their views should be listened to (Unicef, 2017).
Taking article 12 into consideration the practitioner plans to involve the children by asking them what
rules they would like to set for their room, allowing the children to express their views and feelings.
By allowing children to make decisions in what their golden rules should be the practitioner will be
incorporating the characteristic of democracy from the British Values , (Citizen Foundation, 2017).

The reason the scientific managers are said to have opposed the demand for shorter hours was because
worktime reform tends to unite workers: Taylor s ideal of a high priced man , set apart from his
fellows by the desire for premium pay, translated easily into managerial practice regarding wages.
Cuts in hours, in contrast, would have had to influence whole departments, producing the kind of
group feeling that was anathema to Taylor[3, pp. 136 7]. Journal of Management History Vol. 1 No. 2,
1995, pp. 8 25. MCB University Press, 1355 252X Finally, Roediger asserts that Taylor had little
concern with worker physiology and that the scientific managers denied that the psychology of
individual workers played a complex part in the determination of how hard they laboured. Rather, it is
claimed, Taylorism relied on mechanics, deskilling, isolation and wage incentives to induce workers to
labour at the prescribed pace: Thus Taylorism undercut the older rationales for securing cooperation
from a healthy workforce through reduction in hours. The standard guidebook of the Taylorists,
published in 1911, featured a daily time clock, calibrated to the hundredth of an hour. It was a ten
hour clock[3, p. 137]. Indicative of the ease with which many analysts accept that they can vilify the

Abstract Many multiprocessor chips and computer systems today have hardware that supports shared
memory. This is because shared memory multicore chips are considered a cost effective way of
providing increased and improved computing speed and power since they utilize economically
interconnected low cost microprocessors. Shared memory multiprocessors utilize cache to reduce
memory access latency and significantly reduce bandwidth needs for the global interconnect and local
memory module. However, a problem still exists in these systems: cache coherence problem
introduced by local caching of data, which leads to reduced processor execution speeds. The problem
of cache coherence in hardware is reduced in today s microprocessors through the implementation of
various cache coherence protocols. This article reviews literature on cache coherence with particular
attention to cache coherence problem, and the protocols both hardware and software that have been
proposed to solve it. Most importantly, it identifies a specific problem associated with cache
coherence and proposes a novel solution.

most delicate types of dance is ballet, a form that evokes great emotion. For Martha Graham, ballet
was not only a dance: it was a way to express a fear or happiness with gestures created by the body.
Scholars have recognized Graham as having made revolutionary changes in dance: in form, subject

Analysis Of Michael Patrick King s The City Franchise
Second edition of Sex in the City franchise by director Michael Patrick King, the girls are settling into

Samantha s PR firm will endorse it. The bulk of the movie follows the ladies on their awkward
vacation in the rigid Middle East and the life lessons learned there. Sex in the City 2 misses the mark
in its latest attempt at the box office by choosing the location of Abu Dhabi of the United Arab
Emirates, scripting a lazy floundering plot line and a movie length that could have been trimmed by
more than a few minutes. The first and greatest downfall of this movie is simply the location. Sending
the fully liberated girls to Abu Dhabi is just a stupid mistake for two reasons. First, it s 2010 and
America is at war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and so why the writers chose another Muslim country to
send their main characters to on a vacation is beyond me. In a time when we have so many of our
brothers and sisters fighting in wars in the Middle East, to glorify Abu Dhabi as a vacation location
can be considered by many as offensive. Second, if the creators were looking for exotic locations,

other competitors. The ―store as brand‖ and retail branding is emerging as one of the most important
strategic initiatives in the modern retail industry specially in United States and Europe (Carpenter et
al, 2005, pp.43 53). Better customers experience has become center of attention for the retailers,
which have made retailers to focus on the store design and improving the retail environment.

Retailers should spend a great deal of time and money on store environments to create images that
offer them a competitive advantage in a crowded marketplace (Joyce Lambert, 1996 , pp.24 33). Thus,
store needs to improve in this area so that it can give better environment and experience to the
customers in order to differentiate from the competitors. As per Kerfoot et al (2003, pp.14352) as
furniture being a part of visual merchandising, an attractive furniture has positive affect on customer s
psychology or behavior, which ultimately leads to purchase. By evaluating the Retail Branding and

sustainable options, an innovative store design is developed by designing display shelves, fixtures and
the store interior made up of stainless steel, glass and using sustainably grown solid wood or plywood
covered all surfaces and edges with laminates or seal them with low emitting paint or varnish to
reduce emissions of VOC, which are more attractive and sustainable then present wooden furniture.
To give an idea how store interior will look a picture is placed in the appendix A/VI (Pg.16).
Sustainability features are given in appendix A/II (Pg.12). 2.1.3 Experience Zone The proposed store

Animal Farm, By George Orwell
These rebellious animals think no man means freedom and happiness, but they need to think again.
The animals of Manor Farm rebel against the farm owner, Mr. Jones, and name it Animal Farm. The
animals create Animalism, with seven commandments. As everything seems going well, two of the
animals get into a rivalry, and things start changing. Food starts disappearing and commandments are
changed, and the power begins to shift. Father of dystopian genre, George Orwell writes an interesting
allegory, Animal Farm, including common themes and symbols relating to modern day political
events.
Eric Arthur Blair, with a pen name of George Orwell, was born on June 25, 1903 ( George Orwell. ).
Blair described his young life as boring and dull, and his dad was never around ( George Orwell
Biography. ). He was taught in England and then joined the Indian Imperial Police in Burma, one of
the British colonies ( George Orwell. ). Orwell then moved to France and worked many jobs due to his
lack of success of an author ( George Orwell Biography. ). Orwell s first major work was published
under the name of George Orwell to not disappoint his family ( George Orwell Biography. ). His
beliefs had now changed from anarchy to socialism ( George Orwell. ). When he had encountered
some Soviet Communists, he had become an anti Stalinist ( George Orwell. ). In 1945, His Animal
Farm was published, and four years later, Eric Arthur Blair published 1984 ( George Orwell. ). Then,
in 1950, tuberculosis took

Regarding The Topic Of Theism, One Must Take Into...
Regarding the topic of theism, one must take into consideration several factors when justifying or
repudiating its reasonableness due to its subjective and therefore controversial nature, it is quite
difficult to say precisely whether theism is justified or otherwise. Personally, I am not convinced of
either position yet, and as a recently converted Christian (in other words, I am still relatively new to
the ideals surrounding western theology) both arguments seem plausible and require further thought.
On one hand, theistic belief has existed for centuries upon centuries for so long, theism has ingrained
itself into the cultures and lifestyles of those who believe in a higher power, with Sunday becoming a
holy day and holidays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humanity has a clear desire to understand and have answers, and perhaps they turn to theism in order
to justify these ideas in which case, theism is perfectly justified. It yields its purpose to explaining the
wonders of the world. Today, individuals use theistic beliefs to explain phenomenons such as miracles,
personal revelations, and supernatural concepts rather than using it to justify science and laws of
nature as their ancient ancestors may have done. However, in any case, both modern and ancient
believers seek to know, and to live, beneath the surfaces of life, and to be aware of the realities
beneath the superficialities (Robertson Davies, The Lyre of Orpheus). Indulging in theistic belief gives
more meaning to life for these particular individuals, and perhaps the common consensus of a widely
accepted faith an organized religion and place of worship further solidifies these beliefs. Additionally,
several arguments exist in order to justify theism, including the argument from design and the
ontological, cosmological, moral arguments. Taking logical, empirical, and moral considerations into
thought, the philosophical justification of theism holds; yet there are corresponding rebuttals that raise
skepticism within my scientific self. For example, in The Analogy of the Watch by William Paley, a
hypothetical situation arises in which one finds a pocket watch in the middle of the woods upon its
discovery, one would figure that the laws

The Structure Of The Skeletal Muscle Essay
In mammals, there are an abundant amount of varying systems and components that all work together
in order for the body to function properly and sustain life; one of those components that have a great
portion of responsibility is the skeletal muscle. Skeletal muscle is responsible for a great portion of
movements of the body, such as transportation, obtaining food, and fight or flight responses. Muscles
are composed myofibrils, which when grouped together forms muscle fibers and when those are
grouped together they form muscles fascicles; multiple muscle fascicles are formed together to form
skeletal muscles. All skeletal muscles are motor neuron dependent and composed of muscle fibers that
are innervated by a motor axon and together form what is known as the motor unit. The muscle fibers
all work together to form a muscle contraction, which is initiated by a neuronal action potential. The
action potential can be activated one of two ways, it can be either voluntary by the person or it can be
in voluntary, which would include electrical stimulation to the peripheral nerve. After the action
potential is initiated, a neurotransmitter is released in the neuromuscular junction, which results in the
depolarization of the muscle or a contraction (Schiaffino, Blaauw, Dyar, 2016). There are several
different ways to measure the overall activity of skeletal muscles; one way deals with the electrical
activity. During a contraction of skeletal muscles a significant amount of

Local Revenue Sharing and Competitive Balance
Local Revenue Sharing and Competitive Balance Problem Statement Your textbook shows the
conditions that lead to increased competitive balance with an increase in local revenue sharing. Data
exist on competitive balance and local revenue sharing so you can examine this for yourself. New
local revenue sharing plans were put in place in MLB for the 1995 season and another increase in
revenue sharing was in place for the 2001 season. These changes create a natural experiment for
analyzing the impact of changes in local revenue sharing on competitive balance. Procedure (Data

Explain fully. [Present the relevant chart and refer to it directly in your answer.] The scatter chart
looks like this: Look first at 1995. In the NL, the SD had been falling since before the new sharing
arrangement. In the AL, the SD fell for a couple of years only. So, maybe sharing made the difference
in the AL, but not for long. Now look at 2000. Again, in the NL, the SD had been falling since before
the new sharing arrangement. The same is true in the AL. But the SD jumped dramatically from there
on in the AL. Most recently, it is true that the SD in both leagues has fallen. So, there is a bit of
evidence that sharing enhanced balance, but it isn t an unmitigated success. 4. Do the averages you
calculated in Part B add anything to your conclusions about the impact of increased local revenue
sharing on competitive balance. [Present the relevant table of averages and percentage changes and
refer to it directly in your answer.] The averages help us to see a bit easier: | | Averages | | | | League |
1990 94 | 1995 2000 | %Change | 2001 05 | %Change | AL | 0.061 | 0.071 | 17.0% | 0.092 | 30.1% | NL |
0.070 | 0.068 | 1.8% | 0.071 | 4.1% | It looks like the only real evidence of enhanced balance is in the
NL and then it really is just a flattening out for the first period of local sharing (1995 2000). Balance
worsened dramatically in the AL for this first revenue sharing experiment. For the altered arrangment

Neck Elongating Culture
From the beginning of time, woman have done many things to change or modify their bodies. From
getting a simple henna tattoo, to getting a major plastic surgery, woman have gone about many ways
to change themselves. Neck elongating is one of the many ways that people adjust there bodies.
Although some of these practices are very minor and the effects on them are reversible, neck
elongating is not. The practice of neck elongating in Asia has a negative impact on the community
because it leads to permanent damage, results in starting at a young age, and causes the rings to bring
self confidence. Most importantly, the practice of neck elongating has a negative impact on the
community because it leads to health issues. According to one source, ... Show more content on

This means they also do not get to chose how many things they get and at what age they want to start
(Du Toit). One source states that The neck rings are a form of branding ( Neck Elongating ). For
example, if men from another tribe were to try to capture any women from any tribes they would not
pick the women with the rings because it was easy to see which tribe they were from. Lastly, the rings
really start to affect the body at the age of twelve ( Neck Ring ). This is the age that the rings start to
shift the bones in their body. Finally, The neck rings are not suitable for women because they bring
false self confidence. One source said, These women wear the rings to look better for other people (
Neck Ring ). This means they are harming themselves for men. Also, the rings are started when they
are young ( Paudang Ring ). Clearly, they could hate them when they re older, but can not do anything
about it. Lastly, some of them are only confident because of the rings ( Neck Elongating ). If they

  • 2. My Political Philosophy My Political Philosophy Political Philosophy is typically a study of a wide range of topics such as, justice, liberty, equality, rights, law, politics and the application of a codified law. Depending on what the philosophy is, it usually tends to be a very sensitive and a personal ideology that an individual holds within the reality of their existence. Several of the fundamental topics of political philosophy shape up the society that we live in as these specific topics and their implementation by the state ensures a legitimate government. In Political Philosophy, the aforesaid concepts or topics are evaluated and analyzed with tremendous depth in context to their history and intent. Furthermore, in a rather colloquial sense, political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is important because inequality causes unrest and brings about interminable turmoil which can eventually lead to a collapse of a regime or a state. If every human being is given equal opportunities then the outcome after those opportunities were presented, whether it was success of failure, fully rests upon the individual s shoulders. In case of failure, the government or any other individual would not be held accountable. Freedom is another core value that should be given precedence over all other values and beliefs because it is a mode or a state where an individual is free to speak, act and seek contentment without the restraint of an outside force. It gives one the notion that anything and everything is possible. It also encourages free and authentic thought which is fundamental for the progression of a society. People should be given the freedom to make their own choices and follow them through without any reluctance or fear that they will be penalized. Of course, the freedom of thought and expression also comes with a condition, which is, that those thoughts and expressions should not become a nuisance for others. In other words, those thoughts and expressions should not have adverse affect for others. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Thesis Statement Of Sweatshops The Benefits Behind Sweatshops Thesis statement: Sweatshops, when left to operate without government intervention, are the most efficient way of out poverty. Introductory rationale: When it comes to social justice issues, most people believe the government needs to solve the problem. Social justice in sweatshops is no exception. In my research, I have found that what people see as the cause of injustice in developing countries, sweatshops, are actually what is responsible for lifting people up out of poverty. As a result, any sort of government regulation will fail to solve the problem. The audience I am writing for is a diverse group of peers who are concerned with social justice though they may have different solutions and beliefs about the topic. My goal in this draft is to expand their knowledge and show them the benefits of not interfering with the free market. I. • 4. Gender Beliefs Of Gender Bias In The Workplace Gender Bias in the Workplace Brittney A. Bray College of Central Florida Stereotypes Women have long fought for the right to be viewed as equal within the work place. Over the past decades the percentage of women in management has risen from a mere 13.8% in 1950 to 50.6% in 2007 (Latu, 2000). However, gender stereotype bias and discrimination are still present in the modern workforce. Gender stereotypes are beliefs of how men and women should be and act. When evaluators don t have clear criteria, ambiguity causes gender stereotypes to fill the voids. Leading to differences in the way men and women are evaluated. This happens, in most cases, on an unconscious level, though it does still occur consciously. It has been shown by psychologists that we routinely categorize individuals within milliseconds of meeting them, we classify them by their gender. In doing this we assume they will possess certain gender role traits, either feminine or masculine. Men are expected to have strong leadership traits, while women are known to have nurturing, submissive qualities. The cause of gender discrimination is based on cultural beliefs and organizational policies. Women are most vulnerable to gender discrimination and sexual harassment when they are in a male dominated environment, they may also be perceived as a threat. How gender stereotypes put women at a disadvantage. When woman don t conform to their gender roles they are often criticized. For example; when Hilary Clinton was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of Energy Energy is a crucial necessity in life for humans and wildlife. Quality of life is dependent on our accessibility of energy. The environmental crisis has been felt by everyone in some way. The need for energy continues to increase as the population grows. Relying on past resources for energy will continue to torment the environment and negatively impact the level of supply. Energy is a resource that can be depleted if the abuse continues. Pollution from energy sources has caused the environment to deteriorate. The negative influences from energy sources has caused health problems, loss of wildlife and abuse of other resources. In order to protect public health and the future of the environment, preventable measures must be taken. Energy is used for everything we do in life. The two types of energy sources are renewable and nonrenewable. Nonrenewable energy is a source that cannot be used again because it does not renew itself. Renewable energy is a source that can be used again because it can be replenished. There are different sources available for each type of energy. Each resource has its own advantages and disadvantages. Each source has economic and ecological impacts that need to be evaluated. More than 80% of energy in the US comes from fossil fuels (Eia). Fossil fuel is the world s primary energy source (Eia). Fossil fuels are used for transportation, heating and electricity. Natural gas is used for electricity and heating homes and buildings. The Role of African Americans in the Revolutionary War Essay The Role of African Americans in the Revolutionary War An estimated 100,000 African Americans escaped, died or were killed during the American Revolution(Mount). Roughly 95% of African Americans in the United States were slaves, and because of their status, the use of them during the revolution was inevitable(Mount). This led many Americans, especially those from the North, to believe that the South s economy would collapse without slavery due to the use of slaves on the front lines. However, only a small percentage of the slave population enlisted in either army. The concept of using slaves as soldiers was hardly revolutionary. The British saw Washington s original actions and promised emancipation for all slaves who fought for England. Washington s position towards blacks had made it clear that the individuals running the revolution were not interested in black freedom, so the British offer literally produced a flood of African American volunteers to the British Army. The escaped slaves were not merely good soldiers; they were passionate and saw the British cause as a way to rebel against their American masters. Despite being on the losing end of the war, slaves who fought for the British in the American Revolution mark the beginning of an emancipation movement. The center of the Southern economy was the slaves and their contribution to the plantation owners. Southern agriculture was founded on the cultivation of tobacco, wheat, and corn in Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina, and of rice and indigo in South Carolina and Georgia. These crops were cultivated with the help of black slaves, those that were not fighting in the war effort. Slaves were the only reason there was enough money to pay for the war and political events. As a matter of fact, most of America s political leaders were slaveholders themselves, including Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Alexander Hamilton(Davis 116). The chance of America winning ... The Doctor Of Nursing Practice ( Dnp ) Program Since the capstone project started early on beginning of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, I was able to discuss and work personally with Dr. Spicer as my practice mentor in selecting the appropriate topic for my project. Dr. Spicer was very involved in choosing my second option for new capstone project # 1 related to simulation lab and faculty teaching and learning. The patient simulation laboratory (SIM lab) uses state of the art equipment that provides students and faculty with the opportunity to tackle real life scenarios in a safe and supported environment. Further, I learned that active learning involves the faculty through participation and investment in exploring content knowledge in all phases of the learning process. It requires educational activities that provide faculty with the opportunity to engage actively in courses and respond to the learning situation. My initial problem was my capstone project # 3 on how can a charge nurse help patient s family cope and avoid the effects of ICU decisions that could lead to post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)? I was informed by Dr. Spicer that the initial approval of capstone #3 may have legal consequences per legal department for Kaiser Permanente because of contract issue that would cause further delay in my advancement in the DNP program. • 8. History Of National History Day District Competition Oh, have I caught your attention? Obviously, I did, with such an eye catching blog post title like that. Apparently Marc Gamayo beat me to a blog post of National History Day District competition (I should have done it early, aaaaa) that took place at Ewa Makai Middle School where participants would be interviewed for their projects and to know who are going to state competition. Warning! Super long schedule of what I did on Saturday for NHD district competition. Skip to end for a recap of what I did and thoughts from the experience. For my group s interview, Quincee and me (yes, sadly there was no Jacob), to my surprise, went well. I say this because I can say that I was prepared and there was little to no hesitation in answering or responding to my interview, making a good impression; however, my partner only spoke once and that was due to not being able to hear our speaker and the eye contact confused him (Quincee). After the interview, there wasn t much to do since our interview finished at about 9:07 or so and there were no available activities, so we (Quincee and me) explored the campus a bit more, and I have to say I m impressed; the campus was more complex, the campus displayed wise students, and had air conditioning that was spread to pretty much every area (except the bathroom), so sorry, (I m gonna get hate from this) I think our school is inferior to this school. Problems Faced By The And Corporate Culture 4.The problems of the mergers in technology industry During the integration process after merging, the clash of the human resources and the corporate culture will arise. Merger always takes risk on some extent, so some employees will feel unsafe about their job, which will cause the lost of the human resources. What s more, to optimize the new employee structure and reduce labor cost, amount of employees will face to be laid off. Such a large personnel change will cut down the investors trust, because the investor will suspect the stability of the new combined company. Even two similar technology companies still have different corporate culture which can represent the companies brand images and affect the customers loyalty. They may produce the similar products, but they may differ in the business ideas and background. Hence, how to integrate two companies corporate culture in order to exert the joint corporate value is difficult for the new combined company. If the new combined company abandoned one of the company s corporate culture, they will lose part of customers who already lose the faith to the company. • 10. Africa By Mckay Claude McKay s Africa is an English sonnet also known as a traditional literary poem. It starts with an opening The sun sought thy dim bed and brought forth light . Referring to historical and scientific debate on of the African origins of the nation. This can also be related to biblical terminology, dim being Africa s unlighted knowledge prior to God s intervention and it also can be inferred that he is referring to the rich melanin of descendants from Africa. The next line, The sciences were sucklings at thy breasts, plays on theory of Africa being the Mother Land or The Mecca .This is where essentially civilization begins, just like a mother having a child. The mother is a natural nurturer and essentially Mckay tied in the correlation in the second line. Instead, the lines state, Thou art the harlot, now thy time is done, Of all the mighty nations of the sun. The couplet suggests in a twisted way that Africa was pimped by the new peoples as they admire Africa s beauty and wanted the same by any means necessary. Comic Books Are Important For The World Comic books are important to the world for the fact that they represent a portion of the population that like to fantasize that they can escape the hardships of everyday life. In comic books people can be a hero, a villain, or a bystander that learns an important lesson from observing the two (Bendis 2). Grant Morrison discusses his views on the difference of the ages and their views on comics: Adults...struggle desperately with fiction, demanding constantly that it conform to the rules of everyday life. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The busy lifestyle, the children s needs, all those requirements play a role in time constraints. Comic books offer a solution to the everyday, active person (Bendis 1). The reader is usually short on time so he or she must be intrigued immediately for the comic to gain full attention. As soon as the reader commits himself or herself, the situation changes. He or she is thrown into an unknown situation that demands total attention (1). The plot is pulled together and the hero is cast in circumstances that demand a resolve. A confrontation follows and against seemingly impossible odds, the hero finds an answer within an unlikely source that the reader would believe they could also find if put in the same situation. Once the comic book is finished being read, the readers recognize that very little time has gone by and they can continue on with their normal lives. The understanding of the comic book doesn t end there. The reader now has time to think on what they just read, what could have been done, what should have been done and other possible outcomes to the plot. This can be done while daydreaming at school or bored to death at work. The importance of contemplating the different endings of a comic book is the fact that it makes the reader truly think ( Bendis 2). • 13. Benito Cereno In her article entitled Black Masks: Melville s Benito Cereno , Jean Fagan Yellin says that when Benito Cereno, Herman Melville s tale of slave revolt, appeared in 1855, it made use of Negro stereotypes already standard in American fiction (Yellin 678). Captain Amasa Delano is characterized as the typical Yankee man. Yellin elaborates on this by analyzing his self important, authoritarian persona, observing that he is investigating the strange ship, self righteously expounding the doctrine of work, officiously planning to manage affairs on the San Dominick, proudly resentful of any implied social slight, and in no way averse, after helping the distressed Spaniard, to totting up the price he expects to be paired for his trouble. He smugly believes himself the peculiarly favored child of Providence (Yellin 682). When we view him in contrast with Cereno, an aristocratic European, Delano can now be assessed as representation of the idealistic New World Man or the typical American white man, meaning he is seen as democratic, compassionate, generous, capable of decisive action, although blind to evil and unable to learn from his experience (Yellin 682). This is best exemplified in his views of the black slaves on the San Dominick. His assumptive thinking is prevalent in the story because throughout his initial exploration of the San Dominick, he buys into the illusion that what is happening upon the ship is not deviating from reality. It was designed to work with programming languages such as C/C++ or Fortran and this really helped specialists in parallel programming to use CUDA, rather than to learn other advanced skills in GPU programming[10] . The model for GPU computing is to use a CPU and GPU together in a heterogeneous co processing computing model[3]. The framework is designed such that the sequential part of the application runs on the CPU and the computationally intensive part is accelerated by the GPU. • 21. Vulnerability And Risk Of Poor Health INTRODUCTION Everyone is potentially vulnerable at some point over the extent of one s lifetime. More specifically, everyone is potentially at risk of poor physical, psychological, or social health. The word vulnerable is defined by the Merrian Webster s Dictionary as capable of being physically wounded or open to attack or damage . Commonly, the word vulnerability indicates one s susceptibility to health problems, harm or neglect. Some however, maybe more or less susceptible or at risk of poor health at different times in their lives, while certain individuals and communities are more likely to be at risk than others at any given point in time (Aday, 1994). Thus, vulnerable populations may be defined as social groups with an increased susceptibility to adverse health outcomes (Flaskerud Winslow, 1998). A fundamental component to the definition of vulnerability is the concept of risk, or the relative probability that an individual may become ill within a given period of time (Aday, 1994). Community and individual characteristics are risk factors predictive of the incidence of vulnerability. Risk factors, for example smoking or lead exposure, are attributes that are related to increases in the probability of occurrence of health related outcomes (Aday, 1998). Evidence of differences in vulnerability or increased risk, which lead to negative health outcomes include: premature mortality, comparative morbidity, decreased functional and mental status, decreased ability to ... Their main differences, as seen in the visual component of my CPT, were usually around times of war, when conscription was a very big topic. However, we cannot forget the post World War II situations that caused Canada to change forever. Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau decided to implement a solution to finally stop the French Canadians and English Canadians from constantly fighting with each other. Therefore, he developed and passed the Official Languages Act, which was an act that would finally recognize the equal status of English and French throughout the federal administration, and ensure that all federal institutions provide their services in English or French at the customer s choice. This act allowed for French Canadians to no longer be seen as a minority in Canada and to finally be recognized for who they are. Having Prime Minister Trudeau work very hard to pass this act showed French Canadians that the Federal Government had finally recognized all the injustices directed towards them, and that there was no longer any need for fighting between French and English Canadians. The importance of this event is that finally, French Canadians were seen and identified as actual Canadians , and this act is an apology from the Federal government towards the French Canadians for all the injustice that had happened to them in the past. Apple is appealing the EU ruling indicting that they did not violate any laws and should not be forced to pay back taxes. However the most startling aspect of the case is that Ireland is actually siding with Apple and going against the EU. On the flip side when you look at the intricacies of the situation Irish government is showing solidarity with Apple because it is well aware of the benefits of having Apple conducting business in Ireland. • 28. Human Ecology And Its Effects On Society The world we live in is a complex place full of networks and connections that are often veiled from our immediate perspectives. The natural resources and, material culture stemming from that, made available to humans directly affect the ways in which we are able to organize and conduct our lives. The ways in which we organize the space around us is a clear indication of wealth, race, or ethnicity. The minorities are often kept in isolation from the wealthier areas of society (be that economic wealth or natural resource wealth) which directly affects the jobs the minorities are able to obtain and further inhibits a lessening of racism by preventing a mixed association of races and different groups of people. Without the understanding of other people, racism is allowed to continue through the simple lack of social interaction. It is things such as these that interests ecologists. Human ecology is a study that focuses on relationships between different social lives and the implications of the connections between those and the physical world around them. A vivid example of the altered relations through a shifting physical environment is found within the creation of central heating. • 32. The Theory Of The Firm Essay Knowledge Resources in the Theory of the Firm Proponents of the knowledge based theory of the firm point out that this one sided concentration on incentive conflicts in the economics of organizational literature overlooks the production side of the firm. Langlois and Foss, for example, argue that the literature has unreflectively relied on a dichotomy between productive aspects and exchange aspects of the firm, that is, on a dichotomy between production costs and exchange costs. In analyzing exchange costs the literature recognizes that exchange itself is not costless, but involves transaction costs from imperfect knowledge and opportunism. But in analyzing production costs, there has been an embedded agreement that price theory tells us all we need to know about production. As Langlois and Foss point out, however, it is very likely that knowledge about how to produce is imperfect and that knowledge about how to link together one person s (or organization s) productive knowledge with that of another is imperfect. These twin issues of capabilities and coordination are discrete from the hazards of astringent that other traditional beliefs have focused on. Both knowledge resources and (imperfect) production costs can be said to vary depending on the attributes of a production process, in the same way that transaction costs differ depending on the asset attributes of investment projects. (Martha Graham) It is said that Martha worked on her falls for fifty years, and they grew more beautiful and complex each time she performed them. This technique is not the only one she worked to perfection. However, it provides a quality example to her devotion to the art of dance. Graham is considered one of the major and most influential dancers in America. Graham s craving for dance gave her the strength and determination she needed to become one of the best. Her incredible emotions changed the dancing world, not only in her style as a dancer, but in her innovative style of choreography (182). Graham was born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, on May 11, 1894 (Pratt 8). She was the daughter of Jane Beers and George Graham and the oldest of three daughters. She also had a brother named William Henry Graham, but he died of scarlet fever at eighteen months. This devastated the family, especially Martha s father. • 43. Analysis Of Michael Patrick King s The City Franchise Second edition of Sex in the City franchise by director Michael Patrick King, the girls are settling into their 40 s or in Samantha s case her 50 s. Each gal is still looking fabulous but needing a break from the doldrums of daily life, they are invited to Abu Dhabi to experience the newest hotel in hopes that Samantha s PR firm will endorse it. The bulk of the movie follows the ladies on their awkward vacation in the rigid Middle East and the life lessons learned there. Sex in the City 2 misses the mark in its latest attempt at the box office by choosing the location of Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates, scripting a lazy floundering plot line and a movie length that could have been trimmed by more than a few minutes. The first and greatest downfall of this movie is simply the location. Sending the fully liberated girls to Abu Dhabi is just a stupid mistake for two reasons. First, it s 2010 and America is at war in Afghanistan and Iraq, and so why the writers chose another Muslim country to send their main characters to on a vacation is beyond me. In a time when we have so many of our brothers and sisters fighting in wars in the Middle East, to glorify Abu Dhabi as a vacation location can be considered by many as offensive. Second, if the creators were looking for exotic locations, there are many other places to be found? Paris may not be exotic but it is fashionable and far enough away to be exotic to Holly Housewife who is shelling out the eight dollars to see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction In today s dynamic and competitive world many retailers have initiated to develop their stores as a brand, therefore creativity and sustainability can be important organizational resource and a desirable approach to differentiate from other competitors. The ―store as brand‖ and retail branding is emerging as one of the most important strategic initiatives in the modern retail industry specially in United States and Europe (Carpenter et al, 2005, pp.43 53). Consumers perceptions of store image and shopping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Retailers should spend a great deal of time and money on store environments to create images that offer them a competitive advantage in a crowded marketplace (Joyce Lambert, 1996 , pp.24 33). Thus, store needs to improve in this area so that it can give better environment and experience to the customers in order to differentiate from the competitors. As per Kerfoot et al (2003, pp.14352) as furniture being a part of visual merchandising, an attractive furniture has positive affect on customer s psychology or behavior, which ultimately leads to purchase. By evaluating the Retail Branding and Innovation Page 2 Innovative Sustainable Store Design Proposal present situation and the possible sustainable options, an innovative store design is developed by designing display shelves, fixtures and the store interior made up of stainless steel, glass and using sustainably grown solid wood or plywood covered all surfaces and edges with laminates or seal them with low emitting paint or varnish to reduce emissions of VOC, which are more attractive and sustainable then present wooden furniture. To give an idea how store interior will look a picture is placed in the appendix A/VI (Pg.16). Sustainability features are given in appendix A/II (Pg.12). 2.1.3 Experience Zone The proposed store design plan includes ―experience zones,‖ which are models of rooms (family room, home ... • 45. Animal Farm, By George Orwell These rebellious animals think no man means freedom and happiness, but they need to think again. The animals of Manor Farm rebel against the farm owner, Mr. Jones, and name it Animal Farm. The animals create Animalism, with seven commandments. As everything seems going well, two of the animals get into a rivalry, and things start changing. Food starts disappearing and commandments are changed, and the power begins to shift. Father of dystopian genre, George Orwell writes an interesting allegory, Animal Farm, including common themes and symbols relating to modern day political events. Eric Arthur Blair, with a pen name of George Orwell, was born on June 25, 1903 ( George Orwell. ). Blair described his young life as boring and dull, and his dad was never around ( George Orwell Biography. ). He was taught in England and then joined the Indian Imperial Police in Burma, one of the British colonies ( George Orwell. ). Orwell then moved to France and worked many jobs due to his lack of success of an author ( George Orwell Biography. ). • 46. Regarding The Topic Of Theism, One Must Take Into... Regarding the topic of theism, one must take into consideration several factors when justifying or repudiating its reasonableness due to its subjective and therefore controversial nature, it is quite difficult to say precisely whether theism is justified or otherwise. Personally, I am not convinced of either position yet, and as a recently converted Christian (in other words, I am still relatively new to the ideals surrounding western theology) both arguments seem plausible and require further thought. On one hand, theistic belief has existed for centuries upon centuries for so long, theism has ingrained itself into the cultures and lifestyles of those who believe in a higher power, with Sunday becoming a holy day and holidays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Humanity has a clear desire to understand and have answers, and perhaps they turn to theism in order to justify these ideas in which case, theism is perfectly justified. It yields its purpose to explaining the wonders of the world. Today, individuals use theistic beliefs to explain phenomenons such as miracles, personal revelations, and supernatural concepts rather than using it to justify science and laws of nature as their ancient ancestors may have done. However, in any case, both modern and ancient believers seek to know, and to live, beneath the surfaces of life, and to be aware of the realities beneath the superficialities (Robertson Davies, The Lyre of Orpheus). Indulging in theistic belief gives more meaning to life for these particular individuals, and perhaps the common consensus of a widely accepted faith an organized religion and place of worship further solidifies these beliefs. Additionally, several arguments exist in order to justify theism, including the argument from design and the ontological, cosmological, moral arguments. Taking logical, empirical, and moral considerations into thought, the philosophical justification of theism holds; yet there are corresponding rebuttals that raise skepticism within my scientific self. For example, in The Analogy of the Watch by William Paley, a hypothetical situation arises in which one finds a pocket watch in the middle of the woods upon its discovery, one would figure that the laws ... • 47. The Structure Of The Skeletal Muscle Essay In mammals, there are an abundant amount of varying systems and components that all work together in order for the body to function properly and sustain life; one of those components that have a great portion of responsibility is the skeletal muscle. Skeletal muscle is responsible for a great portion of movements of the body, such as transportation, obtaining food, and fight or flight responses. Muscles are composed myofibrils, which when grouped together forms muscle fibers and when those are grouped together they form muscles fascicles; multiple muscle fascicles are formed together to form skeletal muscles. All skeletal muscles are motor neuron dependent and composed of muscle fibers that are innervated by a motor axon and together form what is known as the motor unit. The muscle fibers all work together to form a muscle contraction, which is initiated by a neuronal action potential. The action potential can be activated one of two ways, it can be either voluntary by the person or it can be in voluntary, which would include electrical stimulation to the peripheral nerve. After the action potential is initiated, a neurotransmitter is released in the neuromuscular junction, which results in the depolarization of the muscle or a contraction (Schiaffino, Blaauw, Dyar, 2016). There are several different ways to measure the overall activity of skeletal muscles; one way deals with the electrical activity. During a contraction of skeletal muscles a significant amount of ... Local Revenue Sharing and Competitive Balance Local Revenue Sharing and Competitive Balance Problem Statement Your textbook shows the conditions that lead to increased competitive balance with an increase in local revenue sharing. Data exist on competitive balance and local revenue sharing so you can examine this for yourself. New local revenue sharing plans were put in place in MLB for the 1995 season and another increase in revenue sharing was in place for the 2001 season. These changes create a natural experiment for analyzing the impact of changes in local revenue sharing on competitive balance. Procedure (Data File: Blackboard, Local Revenue Sharing_Competitive Balance_Project3Data.xslx) A. The prepared sheet shows winning percent data for MLB, from 1990 to date. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Explain fully. [Present the relevant chart and refer to it directly in your answer.] The scatter chart looks like this: Look first at 1995. In the NL, the SD had been falling since before the new sharing arrangement. In the AL, the SD fell for a couple of years only. So, maybe sharing made the difference in the AL, but not for long. Now look at 2000. Again, in the NL, the SD had been falling since before the new sharing arrangement. The same is true in the AL. But the SD jumped dramatically from there on in the AL. Most recently, it is true that the SD in both leagues has fallen. So, there is a bit of evidence that sharing enhanced balance, but it isn t an unmitigated success. 4. Do the averages you calculated in Part B add anything to your conclusions about the impact of increased local revenue sharing on competitive balance. [Present the relevant table of averages and percentage changes and refer to it directly in your answer.] The averages help us to see a bit easier: | | Averages | | | | League | 1990 94 | 1995 2000 | %Change | 2001 05 | %Change | AL | 0.061 | 0.071 | 17.0% | 0.092 | 30.1% | NL | 0.070 | 0.068 | 1.8% | 0.071 | 4.1% | It looks like the only real evidence of enhanced balance is in the NL and then it really is just a flattening out for the first period of local sharing (1995 2000). Balance worsened dramatically in the AL for this first revenue sharing experiment. For the altered arrangment in 2000, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
