Creation Of The Boiled Doves West Analysis
Creation of the Soiled Doves West Chelsie N. Hall History 4250 001 Professor Webb November 25,
2014 The 19th century west was a male society. There is a contrast seen on the frontier; deprivation
and hardship as well as nobility and glamor. The imagery is hard to overlook, a rugged crowded
saloon filled with painted ladies and boisterous clientele. The environment and the women both bawdy
and rollicking complemented each other perfectly. 1 These women were standard fixtures in the image
of the west. Just as one would envision the one dimensional character of a miner or cowboy, there is
the dance hall girl. The emergence of their role of importance in the frontier institutional development.

These types of structures combined with a lot of drunken gamblers and miners led almost inevitably to
many fires. Most of San Francisco burned down six times in six Great Fires between 1849 and 1852.
From San Francisco by late 1849 Paddle steamers were transporting the miners and others 125 miles
to Sacramento, California and the start of the California Gold Rush country. As of late 1853, almost all
of mining area s prostitutes were from south of the border. Some of the first women to show up were
women from southern California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Acapulco, and San Blas. Since Sonoran women
predominated they all were typically all labeled Sonorans or Senoritas by the miners. They were soon
joined by women from Panama, Ecuador, Peru and Chile. Since Chileans predominated all the South
America Latinos were all typically called Chilenos . As word got back to the east coast of the job
opportunities for women and travel arrangements were worked out with paddle wheel steam ship lines
with dependable schedules on the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean many more women started coming to

The Matter Of Dark Matter
Dark Matter Some scientists now believe it is not the matter we see, but the matter that hides in the
dark that holds the true secrets of the universe. There is a mysterious dark matter that binds stars and
galaxies together, and this matter might be made up of WIMPS, MACHOS, and axions. Physicists
continue searching for dark matter, and particles that make up dark matter. Dark matter has strange
characteristics and behaves quite differently from ordinary matter. Understanding dark matter is
essential to understanding how the universe behaves. Scientists assume that dark matter is real.
Gravitational theory requires dark matter to explain why our universe looks the way it does. Without
dark matter in the galaxies, the circular force of the galaxies would push stars out of their orbits and
off into space. Scientists also assume dark matter is plentiful. Scientists theorize that there should be
five or six times more dark matter than the matter we now detect. Scientists also theorize that dark
matter must be made up of particles that obey all or some of the known laws of physics.
Scientists have hypothesized that surrounding most galaxies are huge amounts of matter called dark
matter. Dark matter is matter that is invisible and does not emit light, heat or radio waves. Dark matter
does not interact with ordinary matter, and possibly billions of dark matter particles pass through
ordinary matter every minute (Hawking 186 188). Dark matter holds galaxies, stars, and solar

Data Analysis And Image Based Recommendation Sorted By The...
Abstract Query and Image based recommendation sorted by the method of re ranking provides an
accurate output of images based on the visual semantic signatures of the query image .In query based
recommendation, keyword expansions help provide better results whereas in image recommendation,
re ranking based on priority of images accessed by other users provides more accurate results. This
paper presents an Android application with basic features comprising of an image recommender
system which provides a text as well as image based output on the type of query provided by the user.
The input can also be text based or image based. The results obtained are re ranked and prioritized
according to user intention and also differ with respect to different users. The information of users
search interests are stored offline and a profile based system is maintained for each and every user so
that accurate results are obtained for different users working on the same device.
Keywords Smartphone image recommender, image recommender, profile base image recommender,

History of La mesa Ecopark and How to get there.. The La Mesa Ecopark is located within the La
Mesa Watershed in East Fairview, Quezon City. It is owned by the Metropolitan Waterworks and
Sewerage System (MWSS) and is jointly operated along with the Quezon City government, Bantay
Kalikasan and other private companies.
The La Mesa Ecopark is a 33 hectare park located in the La Mesa Watershed. The park was opened to
the public in 2004 to generate income to help with the reforestation of the area surrounding the
watershed and to create funds for the watershed s maintenance. The Ecopark sits on 2700 hectares,

Today, the park continues to be a popular destination for family outings and picnics; a more healthful
alternative to shopping malls.
The La Mesa Watershed is vital to the 12 million residents of Metro Manila as its source of clean
drinking water as well as clean air from the forest. The Ecopark also provides educational
opportunities for the public to become more environmentally aware. It serves as an outdoor recreation
area while at the same time showcasing different species of flora and fauna.
The rehabilitation of the park and the surrounding forest is a successful example of the joint effort of
both the public and private sector. On one end, the government should have been able to maintain the
park and preserve the forest on its own. However, with the infusion of private funds and proper
management, the park is now revitalized and the surrounding forest is nearly completely reforested.

source of clean air, the park has been tagged the lungs of Manila. Picnic Grove

The Hawthorne s Effect On Human Relations
Summary of Concept
The Hawthorne effect is the tendency when people are monitored, watched, or treated differently
within a setting they tend to work harder. They may change their behavior due to the attention they are
receiving from supervisors rather than manipulation of independent variables. The Hawthorne test
studies began in 1924 1933 in three stages at Western Electric Company in Cicero, Illinois. Under the
supervision of Elton Mayo, who was an industrial research professor at Harvard University conducted
this study. The Hawthorne officials did not anticipate how long these studies would last, however, the
results found within these experiments sets them apart as a significant theory in behavior and human
relations. The Hawthorne studies are considered to be one of the most important studies in human
relations because it was the first study to introduce other factors beyond pay that can contribute to
worker productivity. Also, this study altered the common perception of employees as machines. This
research may be common knowledge in the 21st century, however, the Hawthorne studies began a
legacy of questioning and improving the relationship of attention and productivity. In 1924 the
National Research Council funded a study to see if workers would become more productive with
different levels of lighting in the factory. The researchers hypothesized that increasing factors such as
meal periods would increase productivity and dimming the lights would decrease

Instrumental Relationships And Adolescent Relationships
The variety of films for this class portray youth culture and the array of experiences and influences
that affect adolescents in their transition from childhood to adulthood. One of the central issues found
in the films is the idea of status relations. Status is among the most important and controversial aspects
of adolescence, and youth often interact with each other in unique, specific ways to maintain it. This
paper will explore instrumental versus expressive relationships and status relations in high school in
Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Dazed and Confused. While Heckerling s film portrays a variety of
expressive relationships, Dazed and Confused exhibits many instrumental relationships both of which
affect status relations in high schools in different ways. While expressive relationships discourage
status relations, instrumental relationships encourage them. To begin, status is one of if not the most
prevalent issue among adolescents in the high school setting. It is difficult to break down status into
each of its many components, but the root of it all lies in the relationships formed and held by youth.
The two defining types of adolescent relationships are instrumental and expressive relationships. In
his 2016 book, Freaks, Geeks, and Cool Kids, Milner explains that Instrumental relationships are
formed for some specific purpose or goal; expressive relations are those that have no specific purpose
but focus on companionship (Milner, 2016). It is obvious that

Persuasive Essay On Black Footed Ferrets
Black footed ferrets are finally making a comeback! Almost thirty years, organizations have been
helping the black footed ferrets regain status. You will be learning about the amazing black footed
ferrets, the objectives of the Endangered Species Act, strategies to help the ferrets, threats of the
ferrets, who is helping them, and how they are helping the ferrets.
There are approximately 750 wild ferrets and roughly 350 in captivity around North America. They
have a long tan body with black legs and feet; they also have a black head with a little bit of black on
the back of their bodies. The black footed ferrets rely on prairie dogs and their colonies to provide
shelter and food. These animals live mostly in a grassland habitat. A grassland habitat is basically an
open prairie with minimal rainfall. Black footed ferrets are part of the weasel family. There used to be
tens of thousands of black footed ferrets but by the 1960s they became almost extinct. Most frequent
meals for a ferret are prairie dogs. They will also dine on rodents, different types of squirrels, birds,
and rabbits. They once lived throughout the United States (U.S.), Canada, and Mexico. Now the new
population has been introduced to 8 U.S. states, Canada, and Mexico.
Most of a ferret s life is spent underground. 90% of the time they are underground eating, sleeping, or
raising their young. They are also nocturnal which means that they only go out of their homes at night.

Five Forces Analysis Of Glothing Industry
5 forces analysis of clothing industry
This section analyzed and shown the existing significant strength of competitive forces within the
apparel industry in Europe. The collective strength of the existing forces defines the profitability of the
incumbents and the new player in the industry (Mann Byun 2011).
Entry barriers: High/Low
Often time, new players brings new resources which can force product price down and as well reduce
profitability of the industry (Mann Byun 2011). Therefore, incumbents on the defending side raise the
threat for new players. The existing retailers safeguard their position by aggressively expanding their
production differentiation in the aspect of brand loyalty, brand identification, customer service, quality
and advertisement. By so doing the existing firms can achieved significant economy of scale. Once
achieved, it would be difficult for new players to immediately start benefitting for the economy of
scale. For instance, observation shown that the reason companies like Hermes international, Chloe,
Burberry and Luis Vuitton enjoyed lower cost per unit is because they have large production volume
with efficient technology. In the case Hermes international, its control about 75% of its value chain.

Dichotomies In Life Of Pi
Life of Pi, by Yann Martel, follows a boy named Pi as he floats aboard a lifeboat through the Pacific
Ocean; joining him on this journey is a tiger, affectionately named Richard Parker. Pi, himself, is a
bright boy who is Hindu by birth, but goes on to become devout in both Islam and Christianity,
refusing to acknowledge the antagonist relationship between these beliefs. Pi s family were once
zookeepers, and decided to move from their home in India to Canada following the economic collapse
of their zoo. In the middle of their voyage across the sea, their ship sinks in a treacherous storm,
leaving Pi, a hyena, a zebra with a broken leg, an orangutan, and a tiger aboard a lifeboat.
As the days go by, the hyena grown hungry and attacks the zebra. After the hyena has eaten the zebra,
it turns its appetite towards the orangutang, who puts up a tremendous fight, but ultimately ... Show

As I had not been raised in a religious home, the construct seemed foreign to me. I failed to see its
purpose in the lives of those around me. In the novel, Martel presents two dichotomies: the story of Pi
and the beasts, or the story of man and a struggle to survive (the cook, crewman, and mother). While
the latter seems more acceptable on its face, the former presents a beautiful story filled with meaning.
Through Martel s writing, I see religion less as an identification or a label, but rather as a lens in
which a follower views the world. Where I might see the ordinary, others may see the divine. This
novel inspired me to be more accepting of religion and its purpose for its followers. The book also
helped me consider flaws in human nature flaws that I often found in myself. This complex novel was
written so beautifully that it inspired me to become a better writer, a better thinker, and, more
importantly, increasingly accepting of the others and the lenses through which they understand their

Patrick Henry Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death
Leeanne N. Weeks
October 6, 2017
American Revolution Leader: Patrick Henry
Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death this quote was said by Patrick Henry in March 23, 1775.
When Patrick Henry was only 15 years old, he had a business with his father. The business they had
didn t last that long. Then he married Sarah Shelton in 1754. He also studied to be a lawyer. In 1757
he and his wife lost their farm house to a fire.
Patrick Henry is an American Revolution hero who played an important role during the Revolutionary
War because he was a big leader. He was a Virginia lawyer and a politician.
He was an outspoken opponent in the stamp act and in the Townshend act by authority of England.
Patrick was an amazing public speaker and a big figure of the American Revolution, he was best
known for his words Give me liberty or give me death
Henry was selected in 1774 to assign the continental congress in Philadelphia. There he met Sam
Adams and they together were excited to fire for the revolution war. During the moment henry called
the colonists to come together in their position to overcome the British. The next year, henry gave his
most known famous speech of his entire career. He was one of the people to represent the Virginia
Convention in March 1775. The group was thinking how they are going to get things over with, with
the crisis of Great Britain. He wanted everything to go buy smooth full and end with peace.

Baseball Creator
The Creator and How Baseball Was Created
Abner Doubleday was the inventor of baseball during the Civil War. When he created it he claimed to
have nothing to do with it but he really was the inventor. The game of baseball was based off of old
english games like rounders and cricket. The sport of baseball was turned into an organized sport in
the 1840 s to the 1850 s. Baseball was originated in Cooperstown, New york in the year of 1839.
When baseball started to be an organized sport there were eight major league teams. The teams were
Boston Red Stockings (now the Atlanta Braves), Chicago White Stockings (now the Chicago Cubs),
Cincinnati Red Stockings, Hartford Dark Blues, Louisville Grays, Mutual of New York, Philadelphia

With this new ball the home runs per game averaged up to 0.20 home runs a game. By 1925 the home
runs averaged up to 0.48 home runs per game. The ball was heavier, bigger in size, but the seams were
smooth so pitchers had less control of the ball. This ball was called the rabbit ball because of the
australian wool. In 1920 pitchers were restricted from spitballs and now had intentional walks. The
spitball was when you put saliva or vaseline on the ball which caused the ball to spin in a weird way.
If you get caught with a spitball you either get suspended for the game or from the whole league. In
1931 they changed the cork center with cushioned cork pill which was a mix of ground rubber and
cork. The amount of homeruns went down to 0.43 homeruns a game. The balls in the American league
were different then the balls that the National league had but they decided to standardize the ball that
the American league was using. In WWII when the Japanese seized Malaya and the Dutch East Indies,
the U.S. was cut off from its usual source of supply . About a ton of rubber was used to make tanks
and about half was used for a long ranged bomber, therefore Uncle Sam restricted the use of rubber
materials it was only aloud to be used for the war so people were not aloud to use rubber to make
baseballs anymore. During that time a new baseball was presented and it looked and felt like a real

Analysis Of George Orwell s 1984
Those familiar with George Orwell s 1984 will recall that Newspeak was designed not to extend but to
diminish the range of thought. I recently felt the weight of this Orwellian ethos when many of my
students sent emails to inform me, and perhaps warn me, that my name appears on the Professor
Watchlist, a new website created by a conservative youth group known as Turning Point USA. I could
sense the gravity in those email messages, a sense of relaying what is to come. The Professor
Watchlist s mission, among other things, is to sound an alarm about those of us within academia who
advance leftist propaganda in the classroom. It names and includes photographs of some 200
professors. The Watchlist appears to be consistent with a nostalgic desire to make America great again
and to expose and oppose those voices in academia that are anti Republican or express anti
Republican values. For many black people, making America great again is especially threatening, as it
signals a return to a more explicit and unapologetic racial dystopia. For us, dreaming of yesterday is
not a privilege, not a desire, but a nightmare. The new watchlist is essentially a new species of
McCarthyism, especially in terms of its overtones of disloyalty to the American republic. And it is
reminiscent of Cointelpro, the secret F.B.I. program that spied on, infiltrated and discredited American
political organizations in the 50s and 60s. Its goal of outing professors for their views helps to

The Consequences Of The Blockade Of Qatar
On October 25, 2017, The Guardian reported that Egypt, Bahrain, UAE, and Saudi Arabia s blockade
of Qatar has the potential to create long lasting rifts in the region. In June of this year, the
aforementioned nations all cut off diplomatic ties with the small peninsular nation of Qatar. Saudi
Arabia and UAE said that diplomatic and economic relations would be restored once Qatar has broken
all of its links with the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, and Iran. Qatar emphatically denied that it had
any financial links with those extremist groups. This stalemate has led to a long lasting blockade that
as of writing is still ongoing. With no end in sight, some observers are worried that the blockade will

Fearing uprisings of their own, nations such as the United Arab Emirates backed Saudi Arabia. When
Hamad abdicated the throne in 2013, it appeared that Qatar s international influence would end. Until
this year, that certainly seemed to be the case. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt enacted a
blockade of Qatar, which prompted an international response. President Trump and the United States
appeared to back Saudi Arabia, while Iran and Turkey, two regional powers, backed Qatar.
The blockade of Qatar is throwing the long held status quo of the region into disarray. All of the Arab
Gulf states are allies of the United States and currently Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Bahrain are imposing
the blockade on Qatar, with Kuwait staying neutral. The involvement of the United States, Turkey and
Iran seems to indicate that this conflict was more than just a petty dispute between the gulf states. In
this unipolar world, it would make sense that once a dominant power chooses a side, a conflict such as
this one would soon meet its conclusion. However, even with the United States involvement, the Qatar
blockade has been in effect for five months and has no end in sight. This would seem to indicate that
perhaps the United States is not as powerful as previously thought. This leads me to ask the following
question: How does the blockade of Qatar impact American goals in the Middle East.

Impact Of The United Kingdom On Britain s Current Issues...
With the United Kingdom being the 3rd European country with the highest GDP it is rather difficult to
assume that issues such as negative economic growth, rising unemployment (Mooney and Scott, 2012)
and consequently poverty would have any magnitude in its territory. However poverty does appear to
be an issue in Scotland, even though it contributes as the 2nd largest percentage on UK s GVA (7.7%
ONS, 2012). With the acceptance of the referendum Scotland was aiming for independence and
therefore taking in its own hands decision making regarding sectors such as the economic one by
prioritizing and making the right decisions in order to tackle issues such as that of poverty. After
September 18th 2014 economic changes concerning currency, unemployment and natural resources
would have an impact on Scotland s current issues regarding poverty. An issue that has been in
Scotland s economic agenda afore the economic crisis of 2008/09 is poverty despite the fact that
Scotland s economy was growing steadily until 2007 (McKendrick, J., et al. 2011). By 2013 Scotland
had a greater relative poverty rate than the UK with 16% , which is an increase since 2007 when the
case was in reverse positions. These statistics indicate an adverse development in Scotland s relative
poverty rates over the past eight years to which economic factors come from both macroeconomic as
well as microeconomic spectrums. The four main macroeconomic objectives (high economic growth,

Stephen Hawking. A bright student, a brilliant physicist, a brave man. The life of Hawking is full of
ups and downs, peaks and valleys, enlightened intelligence, and devastating disabilities. (I m still

Frank and Isobel Hawking resided in London, though because World War II was in full swing at this
point, they decided along with many others, that it would be safer to raise a family in Oxford. Both of

Health Service is taking steps to tackle obesity not only with the nation at large but also among the
healthcare workers who have to help the government tackle obesity in the community seeing as they

al (2015) further states that the functionalist perspective also focuses on how society is interconnected
and how each part of society influences and in turn is influenced by the other parts. The doctors and
nurses influence the patients they come in contact with and the rationale for the scheme in regards to
the staff is that they should practice what they preach before they challenge the public s unhealthy

systems there has to be a division of labour therefore there will be individuals from varying

The Three Cabritos is the retelling of The Three Billy Goats Gruff with a Tex Mex background unlike
the contrary which have more of an American culture background. The author clearly states at the end
of her book, The Three Cabritos is my own original retelling of The Three Billy Goats Gruff with a
Texas twist (Kimmel 29). The background and the writing of the tale but told in different cultures. In
The Three Cabritos and The Three Billy Goats Gruff , the main characters appearances are distinct,
but the story follows the same plot line. The main characters appearances being distinct but the same
story also has a couple dissimilarities. One of the main differences between the two stories is that the
monster in The Three Cabritos is a Cupacabra whereas the monster in The Three Billy Goats Gruff is a
goblin. By changing the monster the author incorporates the Tex Mex culture into the story.
Additionally, the cultural backgrounds are extremely different for example, The Three Cabritos the
scene is a ranch located near the Rio Grande filled with cactus. Also in the sketches, the goats are
cartoon farm animals and the cabritos are dressed in overalls while holding their instruments. In The
Three Cabritos the cabritos are given typical Hispanic culture names: Reynaldo, Orlando, and
Augustin. The purpose for the cabritos to cross the bridge is also a difference between the two stories.
In The Three Cabritos the reason they crossed was to attend a fiesta. The story goes One day the three
cabritos heard there was going to be a fiesta just across the border in Mexico. Lets Go! The three
cabritos said (Kimmel 3). They want to go the fiesta to dance and play all night. In The Three Billy
Goats Gruff takes place on a field of trees and flowers that surround a meadow. In The Three Billy
Goats Gruff exact names are not given, just Little Billy Goat Gruff, Middle Billy Goat Gruff, and
Great Big Billy Goat Gruff. The reason for crossing the bridge was, that they were eating all the grass
on their side and they needed more. The story reads, Yes , said his big brother, Great Big Billy Goat
Gruff. All we have to do is cross the wooden bridge, and we can eat to our hearts content (Randall 3).

Analyzing Esoteric Alchemy And The Alchemist
Alchemy began in Hellenistic Egypt particularly in Alexandria. Alexandria was founded in 332 B.C,
and quickly became the heartbeat of Hellenistic cosmopolitanism. The Art itself had both exoteric and
esoteric purposes, which were centered on the transmutation of base metals into silver and gold.
Exoterically speaking it took the form of crafting matter into items of value. However, as a natural
development the material means and ends of the Art were often intermixed with the immaterial world.
Both were interdependent and intermixed with each other in various ways. Historical analyses of
exoteric and esoteric Alchemy suggest that it is impossible to fully separate the two because they are
sympathetic to each other. Simply put, whether or not the Alchemist understands esoteric immaterial
factors of the practice still have an impact. The purpose of this paper is to analyze esoteric Alchemy
and to discuss what the immaterial means and ends of the Work could have meant to the Alchemist,
and concludes that the Art was a work of crafting the soul. The approach used in this paper will first
examine Hellenistic cosmopolitanism through the idea of the supernatural, the soul, and virtue, and
then I will discuss Alchemy as understood by from and close to the Hermetic tradition.
Many Alchemists had an understanding of the natural and supernatural that parallels antique thought
as a whole. Common in the culture was a desire to understand, communicate, and develop virtue.

How Did The Tension That Lead To The Cuban Missile Crisis
The tensions that developed between Cuba and the USA almost led to a nuclear disaster during the
Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. Tensions between these two countries brought about the perfect
conditions for a nuclear confrontation between the USA and Soviet Union; occurring as a result of
poor US Cuban attitudes. This escalated tensions to the point where Cuba became the middle man in a
nuclear stand off between the superpowers during the Cuban Missile crisis in 1962.
The attitudes of Cuba and the United States (towards one another) set the stage for a constant
distasteful battle between the two countries that fuelled the fire of the Cuban Missile Crisis. The
general relationship between Cuba and the USA was negative for the most part, as

The United States interests on refugees entering the nation has become a concern for many, especially
with the increased attacks in Germany after the immigration.10 The Deputy Director of the German

decision on refugees, but now question the absence of management that went into the policy.11
Another problem with refugee immigration is how to integrate over a million refugees into the country

and has chosen the nation s security over humanitarian efforts. It stands by strict immigration laws so
as not to mirror the events in Germany caused by its allowance of refugees under the unfiltered

How Shakespeare And Rossetti Engage With The Sonnet
This essay will address how Shakespeare and Rossetti engage with the sonnet form, through Rossetti s
A Sonnet and Shakespeare s Sonnet 52 . Both poets arguably subvert the traditional Petrarchan sonnet
genre, though in different ways. Rossetti s A Sonnet explores the sonnet as an art form rather than as a
means of currency, as sonnets were seen to be at the time, and how if treated as a commodity, the
value of a sonnet is diminished. Similarly, Shakespeare s Sonnet 52 explores the connection between
frequency and worth. However, Sonnet 52 adheres more closely to traditional sonnet form, as the
prevalent theme is romance, and the idealisation of the fair youth . In contrast to Shakespeare s
adherence to the traditional romantic focus of sonnets, Rossetti subverts the genre by using The
Sonnet as a metatextual device to explore his ideas around the form of a sonnet itself.
Rossetti s The Sonnet is written in traditional iambic pentameter and employs the structure of a
Petrarchan sonnet. However, The Sonnet differs from conventions of the genre, as it is arguably a
commentary on the commodification of poetry in the late 19th century. As a predecessor to the
Aesthetic movement, Rossetti valued sonnets as art for art s sake ; the belief that art must separate
itself from serving a didactic or moral purpose in order to be considered culturally valuable, rather
than as a means of generating profit as sonnets were considered at the time. Challenging the

According to a article by Rich Karlgaard from forbes. During the great recession. U.S economy was
performing better then expected and was growing. From 2008 to 2010, U.S GDP is projected at 14.3

America s top entrepreneurial think tank, the Kauffman Foundation, explain in a interview with the
author:
The single most important contributor to a nation s economic growth is the number of startups that

Why Was The Magna Carta Created
King John ruled England at the beginning of the thirteenth century. Not only did he rule, but he ruled
with full power under the monarchial government. His choices were not fair. They triggered many
problems between foreign countries who were the country s tax payers, causing the people of England
s taxes to rise. Throughout a very long and winded process, the English barons became unhappier with
the decisions King John had been making. This is why the Magna Carta was created. The Magna
Carta is a document that was originally created in the year of 1215. This name is presented in the Latin
Language, meaning The Great Charter. A charter is a written endowment by a country s legislation by
which an institution, or in this case, government, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though this was true, they were directly produced to King John to stop his unfair rule. This
document is considered a landmark document because initially it only applied to the country of
England. It issued many important laws that are used today. It made sure that the cruel and unusual
punishments that were not forbidden became illegal. This is simply because of moral rights. Another
major clause in the Great Charter was that one person cannot be held responsible for a crime without a
trial by jury of his/her friends. Also, a major clause of the document is that justice should not be sold
or unnecessarily overdue. Throughout history, the Magna Carta was modified and sort of recreated .
By the twentieth century, only three major clauses remained in the document. The first clause granted
freedom to the Church of England. These churches are Christian Catholic with strong beliefs in their
religious rights. Furthermore, they guarantee the customs and liberties of the English city of London.
Lastly, they forbid uninformed arrest and the transaction of justice. Unlike most historical documents,
whether declaring freedom from a king or any other form of government, the Magna Carta has no
official copy. Each copy had at least three thousand six hundred words written exclusively. Only four
of the original copies are remaining today. Many different versions of the Magna Carta were
established between the years 1225 and 1297. Matter of fact, one original copy from 1217 recently

Duality In The Scarlet Letter
Paradoxical Neutrality in Humanity Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter introduces adultery
between Hester and Dimmesdale to oppose Puritanism, which believes in absolute goodness or
wickedness. These two sinners mutual crime and yearning for redemption indicate the dualism in
humanity. The conflicted irony between their inner selves and outward characters heightens the
tension in the novel, which dissolves with the unity of private and public selves. Hawthorne s use of
contrast in The Scarlet Letter reveals duality in Hester and Dimmesdale s identities to criticize
Puritanism s inflexible judgment of people and to promote tolerance within humanity, which resolves
with the acceptance of one s unchanging identity at the end.
Hawthorne evokes the ironic darkness behind Dimmesdale s pure, public mask to indicate sin s
existence in all humans, including the elects. Dimmesdale fails to overcome his past honourable

The Importance Of Art In Schools
Bob Bryant the Executive Director of Fine Arts for Katy ISD in 2000, emphasises the importance of
utilizing art in schools curriculums: The arts are what make us most human, most complete as people.
The arts cannot be learned through occasional or random exposure any more than math or science can
(Bryant). Art is a way of expression and leads to acquiring a deeper understanding of the details ,
presented to us, in life. Why is that on the first day of preschool, teachers teach through the help of
art? The foundation of our learning is through art. Creativity is the most exuberant and imaginative as
our early stages of life. Creativity can neither be contained nor limited. Art is an outlet used for people
to show who they are. Not only does art the pivot of one s individualism, but it is also kindred with
intercultural relationships. Traditional pieces of art are passed down from each generation to carry out
a group s heritage. Since art is an essential, integral part in a student s academic learning, schools
should make art classes mandatory. Students should be engaged and willing to learn more about what
they are learning. With art there is no need for you to be good at it. Art is depended only on the artist
himself/herself. If students view art as just another subject then they are missing the academic value
art gives. Students have said that art should be viewed as an extracurricular activity or exploratory
classes. Art goes beyond having artistic value and surpasses the idea of one s own limits. Some people
see art as an elective class, or a hobby class. According to Allyono17, one of the authors of Teen Ink
magazine, explains the importance of the beneficiaries of the present by saying, First, art and music
classes don t seem to be used on an everyday basis. There is no point in learning and spending time on
a class that won t be needed in your future (Allyono17). Every class that a student takes, will benefit
them in some way or the other. When walking into a school, the first thing people will see are artwork
in the halls. When going to church, people see artwork of who and what they believe in. Art is
everywhere, and if students are required to take art classes then they will be able to

Intro to Cinema

December 6, 2016
The Similarities of Films Who does not love a great comedy film. I know that comedy is my favorite
genre. When thinking about comedies or comedians one person comes to mind, Will Ferrell. In some
people s opinion he is the best comedian actor. Will Ferrell just so happen to be in a comedy
partnership with director Adam McKay. McKay is responsible for over 20 films. There are three films
that I am particularly fond of The Other Guys, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and Step
Brothers.
Ā Adam McKay does not single handedly write his movies. Like I said, he and Ferrell are in a
partnership and co write movies together. Adams movies tend to be a mean or not appropriate for
children. When did comedies start saying four letter words every other sentence. The times have
changed that is for sure. I would be lying if I said I was shocked. I would also be lying if I said I had
no taste, or judgment of comic strategy. Because, like I said I am very fond of these movies. Adam s
films have a lot in common including his own partner. Will Ferrell plays the main character in most of
McKay s films. In fact, he is the main character in all three of the films that I have chosen. So it may
that I just like movies with Will Ferrell. Adam McKay has a tendency to starting off his movies with a
quote, and of course he works with Will.
In the movie Stepbrothers, an American buddy slapstick comedy which stars Will Ferrell and

Essay on The Problems With Low Carbohydrate and Low Fat...
The Problems With Low Carbohydrate and Low Fat Diets
The low carbohydrate diets and the low fat diets both claim to be successful methods of losing weight
and staying healthy. Both diet plans also attempt to carry out their goals by restricting what dieters can
and cannot eat in relation to what is recommended by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Through altering what nutritionists suggest for a healthy regime, low carbohydrate and low fat meal
plans potentially put dieters at a higher risk for developing health problems and diseases. Also, diet
plans do not necessarily accomplish their goals when maintained over a long period of time.
Diets set regulations on what should or shouldn t be part of a daily nutritional ... Show more content

The low carbohydrate diets recognize this and suggest that by nearly eliminating carbohydrates from
the diet, it will prevent the human body from accumulating too much fat, and will force the body to
burn already stored fats and proteins for energy instead. Low fat diets, on the other hand, claim that
fatty foods are much easier to convert to body fat compared to carbohydrates. They also contend that
complex carbohydrates are a better source of energy for the body, due to the fact that the body takes a
longer amount of time to digest and thus process the carbohydrates.
Altering the recommended nutritional schedule implies potential health risks and problems. Since the
low carb diets like Atkins largely restricts the amount of carbohydrate intake, it limits along with it
beneficial chemicals found in carbohydrates such as flavonoids, carotenoids, and antioxidants, that
may help prevent heart disease, cancer, and other disorders.1 Also, a decrease of carbohydrates greatly
increases the risk of osteoporosis which can lead to bone fractures, spinal collapse and nerve damage.
The increase in fatty foods that results from the Atkins diet is also potentially harmful, and can
increase the risk of heart disease and raises cholesterol levels. The increase of carbohydrate intake
recommended by the low fat diets, however, can elevate blood sugar and blood fat amounts. This is
also hazardous, particularly for individuals who are diabetic or

Descriptive Essay About Lifeguards
Fifteen minutes. That s the time I spend in each lifeguard stand before rotating to the next. I ascend the
white, grooved ladder rungs of the stand. One, two, three, turn around, sit down. I slip off my shoes,
exposing the embarrassingly obvious tan lines on my feet. With the rescue tube strap tossed over my
head and arm, and the red foam tube resting across the armrests of the chair, I bring the plastic whistle
to my mouth. A shrill, rolling sound is released: a signal to the eager children, stationed at the edge of
the pool and giddy with anticipation, that the day has officially begun. The pool is open. The first
fifteen minutes.
The gruelling sun of two summers of work has faded away the thrilling newness of climbing up that
lifeguard stand. My first day on the job, I relished the climb, soaking in the responsibility and glory.
Fifteen minutes flew by that day. Growing up, the lifeguards at my neighborhood pool were viewed as
celebrities by the younger kids. My friends and I admired how incredibly cool and intimidating they
were. Their stands were, in our young eyes, thrones. But now that I m on the other side of it, I laugh at
the thought of lifeguards being cool or intimidating. I m far from either of those things. And the stand?
It s nothing special. I just do my job: I am paid to sit, perched on a wobbly plastic chair on stilts,
monitoring the happenings of the pool for hours on end.

A router is a network device that routes packets to networks other than its own. Routers are almost like
a bridge between networks. Most home use routers to connect their local network (their LAN) to the
Internet (which is a wide area network) with all in one devices with routers, modems and wireless
access points built in.
Routers decide where the best route to a destination is using a file called the routing table , which has
a list of different ways to get to one direction, quantified by the metric, which determines the distance
of the path to travel so the router can efficiently pick the best path to use.

Expenses / Cost
The set up of a wireless network will generally rely on the cost of wireless routers, wireless network
adapters for every device, wireless access points (WAP) spread across the locations and installation
fees. This works out to be more expensive than a wired network.
Relatively cheaper but can be costly depending on the type of wired connections used and installation
fees. However, Ethernet, copper cables and switches are less expensive as opposed to the features
required for a wireless network. Fibre optic cables can be a lot more expensive, but the price of
installation and cable vary based on needs, area of installation and metre coverage.

Raisin In The Sun Movie Vs Play
Every word in a literary composition adds more sense, if it is presented in a meaningful way. We can
see various differences between the presentation of Hansberry s play in 1961 and 2008 Act 1 Scene 1,
though they are trying to convey the same message. Both of the scenes are trying to show the dream of

the play was to portray about the struggle of African American in the society ruled by white people.
The play was written by African American woman in 1957 and for the first time it was filmed in 1961.

about the discrimination. The newer version of the movie has added more specifics about the racial

convey are similar in both versions but the performance of the artist, cinematography, setting and plot
of the movie adds more difference which can be seen in both the

There are three main parts of Fahrenheit 451 . First the Hearth and the Salamander. Next, The second
section is The Sieve and the Sand. Lastly, the third section is Burning Bright. These three sections are
extremely relevant to their respective content. They explain and sum up the reading extremely well.

There is a contrast seen on the frontier; deprivation and hardship as well as nobility and glamor. The imagery is hard to overlook, a rugged crowded saloon filled with painted ladies and boisterous clientele. The environment and the women both bawdy and rollicking complemented each other perfectly. 1 These women were standard fixtures in the image of the west. Just as one would envision the one dimensional character of a miner or cowboy, there is the dance hall girl. The emergence of their role of importance in the frontier institutional development. There is a mysterious dark matter that binds stars and galaxies together, and this matter might be made up of WIMPS, MACHOS, and axions. Physicists continue searching for dark matter, and particles that make up dark matter. Dark matter has strange characteristics and behaves quite differently from ordinary matter. Understanding dark matter is essential to understanding how the universe behaves. Scientists assume that dark matter is real. Gravitational theory requires dark matter to explain why our universe looks the way it does. Without dark matter in the galaxies, the circular force of the galaxies would push stars out of their orbits and off into space. Scientists also assume dark matter is plentiful. Scientists theorize that there should be five or six times more dark matter than the matter we now detect. Scientists also theorize that dark matter must be made up of particles that obey all or some of the known laws of physics. Scientists have hypothesized that surrounding most galaxies are huge amounts of matter called dark matter. Dark matter is matter that is invisible and does not emit light, heat or radio waves. Dark matter does not interact with ordinary matter, and possibly billions of dark matter particles pass through ordinary matter every minute (Hawking 186 188). The Hawthorne s Effect On Human Relations Summary of Concept The Hawthorne effect is the tendency when people are monitored, watched, or treated differently within a setting they tend to work harder. They may change their behavior due to the attention they are receiving from supervisors rather than manipulation of independent variables. The Hawthorne test studies began in 1924 1933 in three stages at Western Electric Company in Cicero, Illinois. Under the supervision of Elton Mayo, who was an industrial research professor at Harvard University conducted this study. The Hawthorne officials did not anticipate how long these studies would last, however, the results found within these experiments sets them apart as a significant theory in behavior and human relations. The Hawthorne studies are considered to be one of the most important studies in human relations because it was the first study to introduce other factors beyond pay that can contribute to worker productivity. Also, this study altered the common perception of employees as machines. This research may be common knowledge in the 21st century, however, the Hawthorne studies began a legacy of questioning and improving the relationship of attention and productivity. In 1924 the National Research Council funded a study to see if workers would become more productive with different levels of lighting in the factory. Instrumental Relationships And Adolescent Relationships The variety of films for this class portray youth culture and the array of experiences and influences that affect adolescents in their transition from childhood to adulthood. One of the central issues found in the films is the idea of status relations. Status is among the most important and controversial aspects of adolescence, and youth often interact with each other in unique, specific ways to maintain it. This paper will explore instrumental versus expressive relationships and status relations in high school in Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Dazed and Confused. While Heckerling s film portrays a variety of expressive relationships, Dazed and Confused exhibits many instrumental relationships both of which affect status relations in high schools in different ways. While expressive relationships discourage status relations, instrumental relationships encourage them. To begin, status is one of if not the most prevalent issue among adolescents in the high school setting. It is difficult to break down status into each of its many components, but the root of it all lies in the relationships formed and held by youth. The two defining types of adolescent relationships are instrumental and expressive relationships. In his 2016 book, Freaks, Geeks, and Cool Kids, Milner explains that Instrumental relationships are formed for some specific purpose or goal; expressive relations are those that have no specific purpose but focus on companionship (Milner, 2016). While the latter seems more acceptable on its face, the former presents a beautiful story filled with meaning. Through Martel s writing, I see religion less as an identification or a label, but rather as a lens in which a follower views the world. Where I might see the ordinary, others may see the divine. This novel inspired me to be more accepting of religion and its purpose for its followers. The book also helped me consider flaws in human nature flaws that I often found in myself. I recently felt the weight of this Orwellian ethos when many of my students sent emails to inform me, and perhaps warn me, that my name appears on the Professor Watchlist, a new website created by a conservative youth group known as Turning Point USA. I could sense the gravity in those email messages, a sense of relaying what is to come. The Professor Watchlist s mission, among other things, is to sound an alarm about those of us within academia who advance leftist propaganda in the classroom. It names and includes photographs of some 200 professors. The Watchlist appears to be consistent with a nostalgic desire to make America great again and to expose and oppose those voices in academia that are anti Republican or express anti Republican values. For many black people, making America great again is especially threatening, as it signals a return to a more explicit and unapologetic racial dystopia. For us, dreaming of yesterday is not a privilege, not a desire, but a nightmare. The new watchlist is essentially a new species of McCarthyism, especially in terms of its overtones of disloyalty to the American republic. President Trump and the United States appeared to back Saudi Arabia, while Iran and Turkey, two regional powers, backed Qatar. The blockade of Qatar is throwing the long held status quo of the region into disarray. All of the Arab Gulf states are allies of the United States and currently Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Bahrain are imposing the blockade on Qatar, with Kuwait staying neutral. The involvement of the United States, Turkey and Iran seems to indicate that this conflict was more than just a petty dispute between the gulf states. With the United Kingdom being the 3rd European country with the highest GDP it is rather difficult to assume that issues such as negative economic growth, rising unemployment (Mooney and Scott, 2012) and consequently poverty would have any magnitude in its territory. However poverty does appear to be an issue in Scotland, even though it contributes as the 2nd largest percentage on UK s GVA (7.7% ONS, 2012). With the acceptance of the referendum Scotland was aiming for independence and therefore taking in its own hands decision making regarding sectors such as the economic one by prioritizing and making the right decisions in order to tackle issues such as that of poverty. After September 18th 2014 economic changes concerning currency, unemployment and natural resources would have an impact on Scotland s current issues regarding poverty. The background and the writing of the tale but told in different cultures. In The Three Cabritos and The Three Billy Goats Gruff , the main characters appearances are distinct, but the story follows the same plot line. The main characters appearances being distinct but the same story also has a couple dissimilarities. One of the main differences between the two stories is that the monster in The Three Cabritos is a Cupacabra whereas the monster in The Three Billy Goats Gruff is a goblin. By changing the monster the author incorporates the Tex Mex culture into the story. Additionally, the cultural backgrounds are extremely different for example, The Three Cabritos the scene is a ranch located near the Rio Grande filled with cactus. Also in the sketches, the goats are cartoon farm animals and the cabritos are dressed in overalls while holding their instruments. In The Three Cabritos the cabritos are given typical Hispanic culture names: Reynaldo, Orlando, and Augustin. The purpose for the cabritos to cross the bridge is also a difference between the two stories. In The Three Cabritos the reason they crossed was to attend a fiesta. • 23. Analyzing Esoteric Alchemy And The Alchemist Alchemy began in Hellenistic Egypt particularly in Alexandria. Alexandria was founded in 332 B.C, and quickly became the heartbeat of Hellenistic cosmopolitanism. The Art itself had both exoteric and esoteric purposes, which were centered on the transmutation of base metals into silver and gold. Exoterically speaking it took the form of crafting matter into items of value. However, as a natural development the material means and ends of the Art were often intermixed with the immaterial world. Both were interdependent and intermixed with each other in various ways. Historical analyses of exoteric and esoteric Alchemy suggest that it is impossible to fully separate the two because they are sympathetic to each other. Simply put, whether or not the Alchemist understands esoteric immaterial factors of the practice still have an impact. The purpose of this paper is to analyze esoteric Alchemy and to discuss what the immaterial means and ends of the Work could have meant to the Alchemist, and concludes that the Art was a work of crafting the soul. The approach used in this paper will first examine Hellenistic cosmopolitanism through the idea of the supernatural, the soul, and virtue, and then I will discuss Alchemy as understood by from and close to the Hermetic tradition. Many Alchemists had an understanding of the natural and supernatural that parallels antique thought as a whole. Common in the culture was a desire to understand, communicate, and develop virtue. This escalated tensions to the point where Cuba became the middle man in a nuclear stand off between the superpowers during the Cuban Missile crisis in 1962. • 27. How Shakespeare And Rossetti Engage With The Sonnet This essay will address how Shakespeare and Rossetti engage with the sonnet form, through Rossetti s A Sonnet and Shakespeare s Sonnet 52 . Both poets arguably subvert the traditional Petrarchan sonnet genre, though in different ways. Rossetti s A Sonnet explores the sonnet as an art form rather than as a means of currency, as sonnets were seen to be at the time, and how if treated as a commodity, the value of a sonnet is diminished. Similarly, Shakespeare s Sonnet 52 explores the connection between frequency and worth. However, Sonnet 52 adheres more closely to traditional sonnet form, as the prevalent theme is romance, and the idealisation of the fair youth . In contrast to Shakespeare s adherence to the traditional romantic focus of sonnets, Rossetti subverts the genre by using The Sonnet as a metatextual device to explore his ideas around the form of a sonnet itself. Rossetti s The Sonnet is written in traditional iambic pentameter and employs the structure of a Petrarchan sonnet. However, The Sonnet differs from conventions of the genre, as it is arguably a commentary on the commodification of poetry in the late 19th century. As a predecessor to the Aesthetic movement, Rossetti valued sonnets as art for art s sake ; the belief that art must separate itself from serving a didactic or moral purpose in order to be considered culturally valuable, rather than as a means of generating profit as sonnets were considered at the time. His choices were not fair. They triggered many problems between foreign countries who were the country s tax payers, causing the people of England s taxes to rise. Throughout a very long and winded process, the English barons became unhappier with the decisions King John had been making. This is why the Magna Carta was created. Another major clause in the Great Charter was that one person cannot be held responsible for a crime without a trial by jury of his/her friends. Also, a major clause of the document is that justice should not be sold or unnecessarily overdue. Throughout history, the Magna Carta was modified and sort of recreated . The Importance Of Art In Schools Bob Bryant the Executive Director of Fine Arts for Katy ISD in 2000, emphasises the importance of utilizing art in schools curriculums: The arts are what make us most human, most complete as people. The arts cannot be learned through occasional or random exposure any more than math or science can (Bryant). Art is a way of expression and leads to acquiring a deeper understanding of the details , presented to us, in life. Why is that on the first day of preschool, teachers teach through the help of art? The foundation of our learning is through art. Creativity is the most exuberant and imaginative as our early stages of life. Creativity can neither be contained nor limited. Art is an outlet used for people to show who they are. Not only does art the pivot of one s individualism, but it is also kindred with intercultural relationships. Traditional pieces of art are passed down from each generation to carry out a group s heritage. Since art is an essential, integral part in a student s academic learning, schools should make art classes mandatory. Students should be engaged and willing to learn more about what they are learning. With art there is no need for you to be good at it. Art is depended only on the artist himself/herself. If students view art as just another subject then they are missing the academic value art gives. Students have said that art should be viewed as an extracurricular activity or exploratory classes. Art goes beyond having artistic value and surpasses the idea of one s own limits. Some people see art as an elective class, or a hobby class. According to Allyono17, one of the authors of Teen Ink magazine, explains the importance of the beneficiaries of the present by saying, First, art and music classes don t seem to be used on an everyday basis. There is no point in learning and spending time on a class that won t be needed in your future (Allyono17). Every class that a student takes, will benefit them in some way or the other. I know that comedy is my favorite genre. When thinking about comedies or comedians one person comes to mind, Will Ferrell. In some people s opinion he is the best comedian actor. Will Ferrell just so happen to be in a comedy partnership with director Adam McKay. McKay is responsible for over 20 films. There are three films that I am particularly fond of The Other Guys, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and Step Brothers. Ā Adam McKay does not single handedly write his movies. Like I said, he and Ferrell are in a partnership and co write movies together. Adams movies tend to be a mean or not appropriate for children. When did comedies start saying four letter words every other sentence. The times have changed that is for sure. I would be lying if I said I was shocked. I would also be lying if I said I had no taste, or judgment of comic strategy. Because, like I said I am very fond of these movies. Adam s films have a lot in common including his own partner. Will Ferrell plays the main character in most of McKay s films. In fact, he is the main character in all three of the films that I have chosen. So it may that I just like movies with Will Ferrell. Adam McKay has a tendency to starting off his movies with a quote, and of course he works with Will. In the movie Stepbrothers, an American buddy slapstick comedy which stars Will Ferrell and ... Through altering what nutritionists suggest for a healthy regime, low carbohydrate and low fat meal plans potentially put dieters at a higher risk for developing health problems and diseases. The low carbohydrate diets recognize this and suggest that by nearly eliminating carbohydrates from the diet, it will prevent the human body from accumulating too much fat, and will force the body to burn already stored fats and proteins for energy instead. Low fat diets, on the other hand, claim that fatty foods are much easier to convert to body fat compared to carbohydrates. They also contend that complex carbohydrates are a better source of energy for the body, due to the fact that the body takes a longer amount of time to digest and thus process the carbohydrates. Altering the recommended nutritional schedule implies potential health risks and problems. Since the low carb diets like Atkins largely restricts the amount of carbohydrate intake, it limits along with it beneficial chemicals found in carbohydrates such as flavonoids, carotenoids, and antioxidants, that may help prevent heart disease, cancer, and other disorders.1 Also, a decrease of carbohydrates greatly increases the risk of osteoporosis which can lead to bone fractures, spinal collapse and nerve damage. The increase in fatty foods that results from the Atkins diet is also potentially harmful, and can increase the risk of heart disease and raises cholesterol levels.
