Essay on Media Analysis of Coverage of One Event
Media Analysis of Coverage of One Event
In various articles written about Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco s visit to Cuba, the emphases are
placed on different points, as the event is described from various angles. The Cuban newspaper
Granma goes into more depth about Blanco and her entourage s activities during their visit to Cuba, as
well as giving a more detailed background of pertinent information about United States Cuba
relations, in the context of the embargo. La Nueva Cuba approaches the event from a different angle
by providing more specifics about how this particular transaction will take place. There is also a brief
compare and contrast of the ways that the United States and other nations choose to deal with Cuba, ...

The journalist appears to be attempting to create the image that Cuba has the upper hand and is in
control of the situation. A similar depiction of this Cuban dominance is shown by the description of
Governor Blanco having signed an agreement with Alimport, as opposed to Alimport and Governor
Blanco signing the agreement together. Again, this minor difference in phrasing simultaneously
suggests both a vested interest and compliance on the side of the United States. Of course, this image
of the US is one that would hardly come across in US domestic papers. Just as a depiction of a strong
Cuba boosts Cuban nationalism, so too does the representation of the United States as an omnipotent
force. Essentially, especially in conservative domestic sources, it does not pay to weaken one s own
nation being a paper tiger is better than being no tiger at all.
At first glance, Cuba planea esquivar reglas de importación con Estados Unidos, already shows a
marked difference between the articles in Granma and La Nueva Cuba. Instead of the United States
proposing the deal between Louisiana and Cuba, the depiction is that Cuba openly accepts and
appreciates the new plan. The two articles from Cuban sources share the same statistics that Louisiana
will be providing 10,000 tons of rice and 160 tons of powdered milk , neither

Health And Patient Education For Diabetic Foot Care
Population Health and patient education for diabetic foot care
Generally our population sees diabetes as a disease for people that can t eat sugar, but, those with
diabetes know it comes with some life changing events. Diabetes effects an estimated 29.1 million
Americans each day. Diabetes develops in one of two forms, Type one and Type two. Type one is
insulin dependent diabetes, where the body lacks production of insulin (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013).
Type two diabetics are insulin resistant, affecting mostly adults (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013).
Diabetes is a chronic illness that accounts for many comorbidities and complications to those suffering
from the disease. Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death from conditions including,
hypertension, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular disease, heart attacks, stroke, blindness, kidney disease,
and amputations (American Diabetes Association, 2016). Management of these complications can
occur with proper education, health promotion, and prevention from the patient. Foot care and ulcer
prevention can reduce or eliminate complications suffered by diabetics; leading to infections requiring
hospitalization and the most serious amputations. Teaching this population or any population about
their healthcare needs and requirements can be difficult. Establishing the best way to education will be
explored within this paper. Throughout this paper the author will take a look at daily foot care and
prevention of ulcers. The paper will

Newton s Three Laws of Motion
Newton s 3 Laws of Motion
One of the most influential and top contributors to the world of physics to me is Sir Isaac Newton.
Father of modern science, Sir Isaac Newton was born on January 4th, 1643 in Woolsthorpe by
Colsterworth, United Kingdom and died on March 31st 1727, Kensington, London, United Kingdom.
He was an English physicist and mathematician who formulated three laws of motion that help explain
some of the very important principles of physics. Some of Newton s laws could only be proved under
certain conditions; but actual observation and trial experiments assured the validity of his work.
According to Isaac Newton s laws he tells us how objects move by describing the relationship
between force and motion.
The First Law of Isaac Newton s laws of motion states that an object at rest will stay at rest until acted
on by larger force. When the object is at rest it is called inertia. Objects in motion will stay in motion
until stopped by a larger force. What this simply means is that an object will not move if an
unbalanced force does not affect it. It also states that if the object begins to move, that the object will
continue to move in the same direction until a larger force stops the object. Example if you were to put
a dodge ball on a computer chair (roll able chair) and were to roll the chair the dodge ball and the
chair would be moving in the same direction. If you were to stop the chair, the dodge ball would fling

Management Of Information Systems ( Mis )
Management of information systems (MIS) looks at combining technology users, the technology itself
and the processes used in order to complete a certain goal. In order to manage the systems, strategic
direction is critical in tracing the strategic goals of any organization.
Careful crafting of investments in the global IT offers Microsoft an opportune to have increased
control as well enhanced coordination. In addition, this has enabled the organization to have access to
global markets. On the other hand, it presents challenges to the management in engineering the global
systems.
Introduction
Global business impacts in a significant way on management practices because it differs from regions
and businesses. In order to counter these management problems, the management is required to have
an integrated approach. The main implications concern the micro management aspects as well as the
sectoral management.
Clear understanding of a business strategy and definition of its goals helps in shaping the business and
informing its stakeholders of their objectives in the business. Better integration, coordination and
focus are a significant determinant of success and creation of a competitive advantage.
Microsoft
Since its inception in the late 70s, Microsoft has continued to grow tremendously from its innovation
coupled with good management. Over the years, proper business strategy has enabled it in executive

Truman Capote s The Last To See Them Alive
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the term fiction is defined as written stories about
people and events that are not real. Within this genre, there are six main subgenres romance, mystery,
western, historical, horror, and science fiction (Vaughn). These subgenres can help define the author s
purpose of particular pieces of literature. This is true for the first vignette of Truman Capote s famous
book In Cold Blood, titled The Last to See Them Alive . The writing in this section shows how
country living is in Holcomb, Kansas while telling the story of the killers, Dick and Perry, on their
way to murder the lovable Clutters. The title of this book and vignette make it seem as if Capote s
purpose was to write a mystery novel. However, this is proven wrong almost immediately after he
describes the vivid setting of Holcomb. He reveals the identity of the murderers, leaving no guessing
for the reader as to who committed the horrific crime. In other words, his purpose is not to write a
mystery novel, but to describe in detail a cryptic murder in small town Holcomb, Kansas. On top of
that, this novel was far from fiction. Capote immersed himself into this novel, getting all the facts and
details to stay true to the Clutter family while revealing the mindset and motivations of the ... Show

While Capote was writing the book, he befriended the murderers, although favoring Perry over Dick
(Plimpton). Because of this, Perry and Dick are depicted as humans even after committing the
gruesome murders of the Clutter family. Giving murderers humanistic qualities is not done often. This
is exposed almost immediately when Capote asserts, ...four shotgun blasts that, all told, ended six
human lives (5). When describing how many victims there are in a tragic event, the murderers are
usually left out of the death count. However, since Capote had a personal connection with these two
men, he gifts them with humanistic

Lamborghini Huaracan Research Paper
The 2016 Lamborghini Huracan (in Spanish it means Hurricane), designed by Filippo Perini, will
replace the most sold and produced model that the company makes, the Gallardo. This car will have
some pretty big shoes to fill, no doubt.
The 2016 Lamborghini Huracan Roadster will get above 60 in about 3 seconds, and over 120 in ten
seconds. Drivers of this car should be able to exceed two hundred miles per hour easy, but the car will
not get above 20 miles per gallon. The engine is a 5.2 liter V 10 that produces a powerful 602
horsepower and 413 foot pounds of torque; while the transmission is a automatic seven speed, with a
dual clutch. A typical manual transmission will not be available. Drivers will have the option to run all
ten of the car s cylinders at once (this is required at high speeds) or to shut down half of them at lower
speeds, when they do not need all ten. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

it is better to drive with the ability to put the top down. Feel the wind your hair as you drive well over

compartment of the car, and will come in three different colors: red, black, and brown. To put the top
down, there is a button you press to start the seventeen second process of putting the roof down. There
is a catch though, the car must not exceed 31 MPH when the roof is coming down. Additionally, the
driver has the option to take the rear window down if they so choose; it does not matter if the roof is

How Television Programs Can Support And Facilitate Word...
Introduction
For many years, parents have relied on using educational programs to teach and engage their children
with new concepts and materials. Conversely, many children have also used television as an
opportunity for learning and language development. For example, the rise of television programs like
Elmo Street and Teletubbies demonstrates this upward trend of substituting media sources for teaching
and learning. However, despite the increasing support from parents toward television programs, many
researchers have mixed reviews on putting our children into viewing long hours of what they
considered unnecessary learning. Thus in what follows of this paper, I will focus on explaining how
television programs can support and facilitate word development. Moreover, I will also discuss the
mixed literacy support for using television as a learning tool and finally, I will conduct a study that
measures, specifically, the relationship between watching educational TV and learning novel words.
Hopefully, with these measures, I will be able to find supporting evidence that proves educational TV
can be a good predictor for word learning.
Throughout the years, one continuous point of debate has been whether educational TV can facilitate
and improve word learning in children. Many studies on this debate have found distinct and mixed
research outcomes. For example, one study has been Mabel s Rice Word from Sesame Street, in which
he found mixed supporting evidence that television

Universal Themes
The universal theme of The Seven Ages of Man is that women and men live brief lives to play their
part before departing from mortality. The universal theme of Demeter is an obsessive mom trying to
get her child back. The universal theme in The Seven Ages of Man and Demeter have similar
universal themes because both themes are basically saying the choices made in life determines the
future. In The Seven Ages of Man one of the stages is the life of a school boy. The school boy
unwillingly attends school and lack discipline. As he grow, he grows into a more mature person. In the
text it states And then the whining g schoolboy, with his satchel and shining morning face, creeping
like snail unwillingly to school. The text also stated Then a soldier, Full of strange oaths, and bearded
like the pard, Jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel This basic is an example of a boy that
made the choices to attend school and lack discipline, therefore he became a something positive in life
due to his choice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

keep her, you and the happy immortals. Stated the passage. To clarify, in the myth Demeter made the

Billy Gibbons Research Paper
Legendary Beard Fact: In 1984 Gillette offered Billy Gibbons and ZZ Top bandmate Dusty Hill
$1,000,000 to shave their beards in a commercial. He turned them down cold, and wouldn t do it today
for even twice the price. The reason? He dreads the thought of seeing his naked face in a mirror! He
said he was afraid he looked to much like Vincent Price.
Billy Gibbons is perhaps as famous for his chest length beard as he is for his music. As the founding
member of iconic Texas blues rock band ZZ Top, Billy, along with bandmate Dusty Hill have two of
the most famous beards in rock and roll. The third member of the group, ironically, named Frank
Beard, is the only member sporting a naked chin.
Billy started life as William Frederick Gibbons in Houston, TX, in 1949, son of Lorraine and
Frederick Royal Gibbons. He was born into a musical family, as his father was an orchestra leader and
concert pianist. Frederick worked, along with his cousin, legendary set decorator Cedric Gibbons, for
Sam Goldwyn at MGM Studios in Hollywood. The first instrument to pique young Billy s interest was
the drum, and his father sent him off to New York City to study with Tito Puente, the King of Latin
Music. Around his thirteenth birthday, Billy was gifted with his first electric guitar, and it was true
love. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

had used on the tour. Hendrix later went on to refer to Billy Gibbons on multiple occasions as one of

How Does Adam Kraar Create Tension In Love On The B Line

The B Line over Lorimer Street Many relationships in today s present day have small arguments.
Some are over other people, their past life, honesty, or committing to the relationship one hundred
percent. In the play Love on the B Line , by Adam Kraar, the biggest conflict between the two
characters Robbie and Marie is that Marie does not want to go back to Robbie s place with him. What
is the big reason that she does not want to? Marie is not open with Robbie as to why she is deciding to

continually insisting for her to go back to his house with him to stay the night. Robbie immediately
responded to Marie with It s okay (Kraar, 321) Marie also revealed that she was just afraid that Robbie
was using her, the understanding and feelings of these two characters are very compelling to human

experience in working with Phil Spector. LaLa Brooks emotionally speaks in responding to the Agony

This demonstrates and embodies how Phil Spector, the producer and creator of the Wall of Sound,
held power over the Crystals. It is said that in producing the song, Spector chose specific instruments
so that he could layer them in a way that would overshadow the voices...that just stopped short of
being busy. When listening to the track, Uptown, one is able to notice that the Crystals seem to be
trying to sing over the musical instrumentations. After the production of Uptown, a former Crystal
member mentioned that Spector would barely let them take part in the production process. Dee Dee
Kennibrew states, From Uptown on he would bring in tracks, not finished, but enough for you to put
your own part down, so he would do everything in segments, so I could not tell you how or what he
kept of ours (History of Rock). Their success was dimmed by Phil Spector. He expressed that in
producing music, he was focusing on the sound, I was looking for a sound, a sound so strong that if
the material was not the greatest, the sound would carry the record (Wikipedia). His goal was to make
little symphonies for the kids , rather than genuinely caring for the success of his artists. As LaLa
Brooks said, He thought so much of himself that he didn t want any of his artists to be recognized

The Effects Of Forest Degradation
Forests are one of the most important natural resources with diverse economic, socio cultural and
ecological uses. The livelihoods of hundreds of millions of people Worldwide have been engaged on
forest products either directly or indirectly. Forests have a vital safety net role in time of needs
(Anonymous, 2008). Changes in land use and land cover are increasingly rapid, and can have adverse
impacts and implications at local, regional and global scales (Brandon, 1998).
Besides, the vicinity of human settlement, agricultural lands, and the scale of timbering, mining,
quarrying and other land use activities have grown enormously (Richards,1990). In relation to forest
resource cover change and its impacts Williams (1990) and Davidar.et.al (2010) confirmed that the
most important factor that altered the face of the earth in many parts of the world is the clearing of
forests
Forest degradation is a widespread global concern and an important contemporary issue for several
United Nations (UN) organizations and conventions. Forest degradation is broadly defined as a
reduction in the capacity of a forest to produce ecosystem services such as carbon is storage and wood
products as a result of anthropogenic and environmental changes. ( Mosisa Ararso, 2015).
Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO, 2011), states that the degradation of forest resources is an
important society concern that is perceived in many different ways. Forest degradation can be a

As one of the few books with LGBT themes out there, it is really heartwarming to see how much
literature is diversifying. It is especially pleasing that, while the LGBT themes are very frequent

How Digestive System Work Together
The digestive system helps the humans break down food and turn it into nutrients. The digestive
system is made up of a lot of different organs such as salivary glands, pharynx, mouth, esophagus,
stomach, liver, gallbladder, small intestine, large intestine, and pancreas. Salivary glands produce
saliva, which keeps the mouth and other parts of the digestive system moist. The pharynx role in the
digestive system is to connect the nose and mouth to the esophagus. The mouth is used for putting in
food and also eating the food. The esophagus has only one function and it is to carry food, saliva, and

People who support free college believe it will benefit the entire nation. As technology industries
grow, as well as the need for employees with higher education; a college educated workforce would be
able to fill these desperately needed job positions, which in turn will make America s economy grow
stronger. Billions of dollars could be added in the economy if these jobs were filled. People tend to
spend more money when they have little debt and higher wages. It could also mean that the
government would take in a lot of extra tax revenues, which could go a long way toward paying for
free public colleges.
With affordable college, people would have more freedom to expand talents, try new ideas, and pursue
the lives they want. Without worrying about crushing debt, these people would have more freedom to
live their lives to the fullest. That could lead to happier citizens, which would make our nation more
prosperous as a whole. This is known as Happiness Economics, which states that people who are

Terracotta Vase Analysis
The vase Terracotta calyx krater (bowl for mixing wine and water) from 490 BCE Attributed to the
Kleophrades painter reflects Greek societal value of patriotism. This vase used frequently to mix wine
and water presents soldiers showcasing their armor. The necessity for patriotism is reflected through
the emphasis on the strength of the soldiers. Furthermore, it is shown through the idealization of the
military. This vase conveys strength and power by placing warriors, a largely respected group known

The vase presents a male figure with a helmet that is custom to military members. He is shown
carrying an item with two heavy ends drooping and is shown hunched in order to carry a large barrel
of items. The figure is most likely shown carrying military equipment. The figure s body is also
defined with toned and muscular arms highlighting body ideals. Beside the figure there is also another
helmet, identical to the one on the figures head, a headgear with a large hook like shape on the top
with small patterns decorating it. Right beside the figure, there is armor laying on the ground, angled
towards the right causing our eyes to move towards that side. On the far right, another figure is shown,
similar to the other figure. However according to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this vase is in a
fragmentary state, thus much of the paint has peeled off. This is reflected on that figure as only half of
a body is displayed. To add on this lower half of the body is decorated with armor and long toned legs.
This depicts the strength and power of the figures through the state of their bodies. Behind the figure
there is a small feminine figure on the back of an animal, emphasized by the use of the black figure
technique in comparison to the rest being painted through the red figure technique. This may represent
an Amazonian since they were known for fighting and according to Greek Art: Pottery page 7, vase

Dave Deedan has recently gained majority ownership to Shoe Leonard s when previous business
owner passed away. Dave retains Andrew Haynus to draft a will for him. Before Haynus is finished
drafting the will he thinks of a great way to help Shoe Leonard s make even more money. Haynus
decides he is going to present Dave with a deal and offer $50,000.00 and would like some say in the
decision making process of the business. Haynus also remembers while he is there doing the work he
needs a new pair of loafers, so he plans on buying a new pair of shoes also. Haynus practices in a state

The requirements of Prof. Cond. R. 1.8(a) must be met even when the transaction is not closely related
to the subject matter of the representation, as when a lawyer drafting a will for a client learns that the

lawyers engaged in the sale of goods or services related to the practice of law, for example, the sale of
title insurance or investment services to existing clients of the lawyer s legal practice. It also applies to
lawyers purchasing property from estates they represent Prof. Cond. R. 1.8(a) does not apply to

Analysis Of Racism In Ralph Ellison s A Party Down At The...
Racism is one of the world s major issues today. Many people are not aware of how much racism still
exists in our schools, at work, and anywhere else where social lives are happening. In the story, A
Party Down at the Square demonstrates how white folks are rank the highest in their hierarchy and the
way they treat the blacks as if they were less than a human being. Judging someone by the color of
their skin and ethnicity is ignorant. No human race is superior; no religious faith is inferior. All
collective judgments are wrong. Only racists make them . We are all human and we bleed the same
color blood. Race is just a group of people who have differences and similarities which is why we
treat others differently, and that shouldn t let people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those of us who brought India food from home all sat at the same table in the cafeteria. Boys would
wander by our table and sing, shiiit. I smell shiiit. They would lean over our shoulders, look at our
food.... and gag (Sharma, Par.3). This quote shows that people can quickly judge them not only by
color, but by the things they do, like: the food they eat, the way they practice their religions, and
crimes committed by certain racial group, etc. They think Indian s food smells disgusting. When
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom came out: the movie shows Indians eating snakes and monkey
brains. At lunch one day, a black boy asked me what I was eating, and I said snake, Snake! he began
yelling (Sharma, Par.3). The black boy yelled in shocked, making people to start creating stereotypes
about how all Indians eat snakes just because they saw some Indian kids at school eating them. Not
only is racism being received from different people, but also, sometimes your relatives does it. When
they came, they stayed up late, playing cards with other Indians who lived in our neighborhood, and
they teased my mother for her religiosity by burping loudly and crying, Brahma speaks! (Sharma,
Par.4). They were making fun of his mother s religiosity. Every racial groups have different religions
and beliefs and people shouldn t judge you just by religious beliefs

Theoretical Yield Of Aspirin
Data Assessment
The purpose of this experiment was to learn how to synthesize aspirin and accurately determine the
theoretical and percent yield of the aspirin.
The synthesis occurs due to a reaction between salicylic acid and acetic anhydride. Once the aspirin
was prepared, it was isolated from the reaction solution and purified. The aspirin is insoluble in cold
water, and was isolated by filtering the crystallized reaction solution. Purification was necessary to
remove any of the unreacted salicylic acid and acetic anhydride.
During the experiment, a total of two beakers were used: one that contained the hot water bath and one
that held the ice water for the ice bath. Two separate graduated cylinders were used as well: one to

Explain Why It Is Important To Be In Control Of Paperwork
It is important to be in control of our paperwork; we don t always have control over what we receive
in the form of paperwork and most of that tends to come from our mail. What we do have control over
is how we deal with this source of clutter. With that in mind, let s look at a good way to deal with our
mail. Most people receive mail six days a week, this may depend on your specific location. Sometimes
there are days when all that you receive is junk mail mail that serves no purpose other than trying to
sell you something or get you to donate money or some other distracting topic. We are all in the habit
of getting our mail daily since that is the usual delivery schedule but does that mean we have to let it
occupy our space and time

Island Fox Research Paper
Introduction
The island foxes (Urocyon littoralis) are a unique species of small carnivores that only live on the
Channel Islands located off the coast of Southern California. The island fox is about 12 inches high,
weights 2.5 to 6 pounds, and has a grizzled gray hair color along the top of the head and back. Along
the abdomen, neck and legs it has a more cinnamon coloring, and white along the cheeks and throat to
the chest (Friends of the Island Fox, 2012). According to Levy (2010) Island foxes are a keystone
species. They play a powerful role in controlling various prey species in the island ecosystem
including the island spotted skunk, deer mouse, and black rat populations. The California Channel
Islands consist of eight islands and on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Clifford et al., The total population for the species in 1994 was approximately 6,000
adults but current population size is less than half that, and island foxes have declined by over 90% on
four of six islands (p. 442). By 1995 ecological monitoring on San Miguel and Santa Cruz Islands in
the national park had detected rapid and alarming declines in the populations of island foxes there
Faced with the imminent extinction of three island fox subspecies, NPS convened ad hoc recovery
team in 1999 to assess the status on the northern Channel Islands and to recommend emergency
recovery actions. The team, comprising experts in canid conservation, endangered species
management, and raptor research and management, concluded that island foxes were rapidly declining
toward extinction on the northern Channel Islands. National Park began emergency recovery actions
in 1999, with the objectives being to remove the primary mortality factor now affecting island foxes,
and to recover island fox populations to viable levels through captive breeding. On the Channel
Islands, the golden eagle predation had been confirmed as the primary mortality

Pros And Cons Of Graduated Licenses

everyone gets the same education on how to drive a car. You would go to take a class the rest of the
world is taking and only have to take that subject once. People cannot say they did not receive the
same teachings as everyone else. They cannot drive horribly and expect to be okay on the road.

The Difference of Warfare between World War 1 and World War 2
World War Warfare was one of the greatest examples of technological advancement and strategic
challenge, with the introduction of inventions such as the aircraft and the tank the battlefield
transformed from attrition as scene in the early years of the war to decisive by the end of the war.
Naval Warfare
World War 1
While the naval war is usually known for only little attention in histories of World War I, the Royal
Navy s blockade of Germany played a dangerous role in the War. The U.S. Navy linking with the
Royal Navy played a significant role in overcoming the German U boats in the North Atlantic. The
Germany Navy while technically effective disastrously diminished the German war effort. Germany s
building of a High Seas Fleet was one of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Afterwards the Japanese strike on Pearl Harbor, the US joined the clash. With them, they brought
potentially substantial naval resources, along the great Royal Navy. However, the war in the Pacific
relied heavily on US naval attendance which in the aftermath of Pearl Harbor had seen the US fail to
keep a number of battleships. So, naval warfare in WW2 had many innovations. The aircraft carrier
was the most noteworthy and became the most potent naval assets which the Allies gained an
increasing monopoly in. However, submarines were also deadly in Europe and the Pacific against
merchant and supply ships. The human torpedoes of the Italian Malali were possibly the most
innovative, and were also effective enough to influence the Royal Navy to research human torpedoes
themselves.
Air Warfare
World War 1
At the start of World War One bomb aiming was crude in the extreme. The pilot or co pilot if the
aircraft carried two people simply dropped a small bomb over the side of the aircraft in the general
direction of a target. If a bomb dropped anywhere near a target it was through good luck more than
anything else. By the end of the war aircraft that could be recognized as long range bombers had been
developed. Much larger than fighters, and far less maneuverable, their task was very specific to carry
to a target as many bombs as was feasible and to drop them on said target with a degree of accuracy.
The Germans had the

Themes In Scott Westerfeld s Uglies And The Third And...
Imagine if an individual conquering his/her largest challenge presents one with an incredible reward.
Surprisingly, this idea is shared between three uncommon literature works. Within Scott Westerfeld s
Uglies, the main character, Tally Youngblood, triumphed through an exhausting and tough journey to a
place that leads her to learn about self worth. Furthermore, The Third and Final Continent describes
the narrator, Jhumpa Lahiri s, adventure of his life through three continents and poor living conditions
during that time resulting in Jhumpa Lahiri finally finding a value in life. In Rudyard Kipling s poem,
If , the audience witnesses if statements that express if someone conquers the troubles in their life, the
world will be theirs. Incredibly, among three unlike compositions, a common theme, overcoming
obstacles and being honored with a sentimental reward, is conveyed through plot, cause and effect,
and characterization. Between Uglies and The Third and Final Continent, the moral surpassing
struggles and receive an award is displayed through the literary device, plot. For justification, both
storylines included developed characters, an exposition, a descriptive setting, one or multiple
conflicts, necessary rising and falling actions, an intense climax, and a resolution. As evidence, Tally,
from Uglies, defeated her rough trip to her destination and enjoyed her freedom as she fell into the
routines of the Smoke (Westerfeld 218). Generally, following the same daily

Evaluation Of Hedonic Price Model
4. Methodology
4.1. Analytical Framework (Generalized Spatial Two Stage Least Square: GS2SLS)
Hedonic price model has been developed and widely used to identify the factors explaining housing
prices (Malpezzi, 2003). In this study, we deal with additional two statistical issues such as
endogeneity between land use and housing price and spatial autocorrelation between housing prices.
First, endogeneity should be carefully accounted for when measuring the effect of land use on housing
prices because a simultaneous relationship between land use and housing prices exists. For example,
better accessibility or high levels of mixed land use increase housing prices because such land use
features bring about more activities firms are encouraged ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this approach cannot deal with spatial autocorrelation between housing prices. Previous
studies have demonstrated that housing prices can be spatially affected by neighboring housing prices
or unobserved neighboring factors. If we do not control for the spatial autocorrelation, the estimated
values can be biased and inefficient (Anselin, 1988). In order to account for the issue, we use
generalized spatial two stage least square (GS2SLS) model that accounts for the endogeneity and
spatial autocorrelation together, which is expressed as the following equations;
P=λWP+αL ̂+βX+u (5) u=ρWu+ϵ Because the hedonic price model generally uses a log form of
housing prices, our final empirical model used in this study is expressed as the following equations;
ln⁡
(P)=λW[ln(P)]+αL ̂+βX+u (6) u=ρWu+ϵ 4.2. Spatial Weight Matrix
A spatial weight matrix presents the pairwise spatial relationship between two any spatial units. It has
two different types such as contiguity based weight matrix and distance based weight matrix.
Although it can be chosen by researcher s judgement, distance based weight matrix is more
appropriate when the size of spatial units is irregular (e.g., in the case of census tracts). Hence, the
spatial weight matrix used in this analysis is expressed as the follows;
W_ij={■(1 if d_ij≤C @0 if d_ij C or i=j)┤ (7)
where C denotes a distance cutoff

CHANGE, TRANSITION, AND LOSS FILM REVIEW 2
Summary
The Notebook (2004), is a deeply powerful and moving film about the undying love between a man
and woman through the telling of their story of love and loss. Duke, a resident in a nursing home reads
to a fellow resident, an old woman with Alzheimer s, the love story of Allie Hamilton and Noah
Calhoun. Viewers later learn that the woman with Alzheimer s is Allie and that Duke is Noah. Prior to
the advancement of her illness, Allie had written their love story in a notebook and told Noah to read it
to her so that she would keep coming back to him . Through the sharing of their personal experiences
of love and grief along with the experiences of other characters, viewers are able to critically reflect
on their own life experiences of love and loss and the different ways in which these experiences have
allowed change, growth, and transition in one s life.
Losses/Types of Losses Presented
One of the major types of losses presented in the film, The Notebook (2004) is that of ambiguous loss.
According to Harris (2011), ambiguous loss occurs in the circumstance of relationships and the
absence or presence of an aspect of that

Academic Coaching With Austin Is Going Well Essay
Academic coaching with Austin seems to still be going well. Except for the fact that he still forgets to
meet with me... and we meet at the same time and day of the week every week. I don t know how to
approach this topic with him again because I already went over it and expressed that I need him to
communicate with me about his absences. I was talking with one of my supervisors about it and she
believes that he needs to be the one making first contact about missing appointments, instead of just
responding when I reach out. He just always seems to have such good excuses. This week he was at a
review session for his midterm. I just need him to communicate. I really don t care if we reschedule
later in the week but I hate looking like an idiot when he doesn t show up. This semester we have
known that Austin will struggle in one of his classes, and he took a test and did poorly on it.
Unfortunately, he had the pleasure of finding this out for the first time when he logged into asulearn in
my office. I felt bad. Immediately his demeanor changed and I could tell that he was upset.
I tried to use this situation to let him know that sometimes crappy situations happen but that isn t a
reason to stop trying. Working with him for a while now has taught me that he needs to explore
multiple options and talk them through with others. So I had him talk through all of his grades so far,
and what he could do with all of the opportunities he has remaining. For example, in this class he has

Fourth Amendment Pros And Cons
A man in Bentonville, Arkansas, named James Andrew Bates is being accused of the murder of Victor

This is supported by Riley v. United States, as a phone is the same thing as a computer, just with
different ways of operation. Similarly, a device that listens to you and has the capability to reach the

contains personal information and is fully owned and only used by the owner, such as a personal
computer, cell phone, or listening device, has a reasonable expectation of privacy. Victor Collins also
holds the right to privacy within his own home. Payton v. New York has set the precedent for
expecting privacy within your own home. Alexa is a device that is used within your own home, and
therefor cannot be searched without a warrant. If we were to give them the right to search smart house

  • 2. Essay on Media Analysis of Coverage of One Event Media Analysis of Coverage of One Event In various articles written about Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco s visit to Cuba, the emphases are placed on different points, as the event is described from various angles. The Cuban newspaper Granma goes into more depth about Blanco and her entourage s activities during their visit to Cuba, as well as giving a more detailed background of pertinent information about United States Cuba relations, in the context of the embargo. La Nueva Cuba approaches the event from a different angle by providing more specifics about how this particular transaction will take place. There is also a brief compare and contrast of the ways that the United States and other nations choose to deal with Cuba, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The journalist appears to be attempting to create the image that Cuba has the upper hand and is in control of the situation. A similar depiction of this Cuban dominance is shown by the description of Governor Blanco having signed an agreement with Alimport, as opposed to Alimport and Governor Blanco signing the agreement together. Again, this minor difference in phrasing simultaneously suggests both a vested interest and compliance on the side of the United States. Of course, this image of the US is one that would hardly come across in US domestic papers. Just as a depiction of a strong Cuba boosts Cuban nationalism, so too does the representation of the United States as an omnipotent force. Essentially, especially in conservative domestic sources, it does not pay to weaken one s own nation being a paper tiger is better than being no tiger at all. At first glance, Cuba planea esquivar reglas de importación con Estados Unidos, already shows a marked difference between the articles in Granma and La Nueva Cuba. Instead of the United States proposing the deal between Louisiana and Cuba, the depiction is that Cuba openly accepts and appreciates the new plan. The two articles from Cuban sources share the same statistics that Louisiana will be providing 10,000 tons of rice and 160 tons of powdered milk , neither ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Health And Patient Education For Diabetic Foot Care Population Health and patient education for diabetic foot care Generally our population sees diabetes as a disease for people that can t eat sugar, but, those with diabetes know it comes with some life changing events. Diabetes effects an estimated 29.1 million Americans each day. Diabetes develops in one of two forms, Type one and Type two. Type one is insulin dependent diabetes, where the body lacks production of insulin (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013). Type two diabetics are insulin resistant, affecting mostly adults (Ignatavicius Workman, 2013). Diabetes is a chronic illness that accounts for many comorbidities and complications to those suffering from the disease. Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death from conditions including, hypertension, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular disease, heart attacks, stroke, blindness, kidney disease, and amputations (American Diabetes Association, 2016). Management of these complications can occur with proper education, health promotion, and prevention from the patient. Foot care and ulcer prevention can reduce or eliminate complications suffered by diabetics; leading to infections requiring hospitalization and the most serious amputations. Teaching this population or any population about their healthcare needs and requirements can be difficult. Establishing the best way to education will be explored within this paper. Throughout this paper the author will take a look at daily foot care and prevention of ulcers. The paper will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Newton s Three Laws of Motion Newton s 3 Laws of Motion One of the most influential and top contributors to the world of physics to me is Sir Isaac Newton. Father of modern science, Sir Isaac Newton was born on January 4th, 1643 in Woolsthorpe by Colsterworth, United Kingdom and died on March 31st 1727, Kensington, London, United Kingdom. He was an English physicist and mathematician who formulated three laws of motion that help explain some of the very important principles of physics. Some of Newton s laws could only be proved under certain conditions; but actual observation and trial experiments assured the validity of his work. According to Isaac Newton s laws he tells us how objects move by describing the relationship between force and motion. The First Law of Isaac Newton s laws of motion states that an object at rest will stay at rest until acted on by larger force. When the object is at rest it is called inertia. Objects in motion will stay in motion until stopped by a larger force. What this simply means is that an object will not move if an unbalanced force does not affect it. It also states that if the object begins to move, that the object will continue to move in the same direction until a larger force stops the object. Example if you were to put a dodge ball on a computer chair (roll able chair) and were to roll the chair the dodge ball and the chair would be moving in the same direction. If you were to stop the chair, the dodge ball would fling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Truman Capote s The Last To See Them Alive According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the term fiction is defined as written stories about people and events that are not real. Within this genre, there are six main subgenres romance, mystery, western, historical, horror, and science fiction (Vaughn). These subgenres can help define the author s purpose of particular pieces of literature. This is true for the first vignette of Truman Capote s famous book In Cold Blood, titled The Last to See Them Alive . The writing in this section shows how country living is in Holcomb, Kansas while telling the story of the killers, Dick and Perry, on their way to murder the lovable Clutters. The title of this book and vignette make it seem as if Capote s purpose was to write a mystery novel. However, this is proven wrong almost immediately after he describes the vivid setting of Holcomb. He reveals the identity of the murderers, leaving no guessing for the reader as to who committed the horrific crime. In other words, his purpose is not to write a mystery novel, but to describe in detail a cryptic murder in small town Holcomb, Kansas. On top of that, this novel was far from fiction. Capote immersed himself into this novel, getting all the facts and details to stay true to the Clutter family while revealing the mindset and motivations of the ... Because of this, Perry and Dick are depicted as humans even after committing the gruesome murders of the Clutter family. Giving murderers humanistic qualities is not done often. This is exposed almost immediately when Capote asserts, ...four shotgun blasts that, all told, ended six human lives (5). When describing how many victims there are in a tragic event, the murderers are usually left out of the death count. This car will have some pretty big shoes to fill, no doubt. The 2016 Lamborghini Huracan Roadster will get above 60 in about 3 seconds, and over 120 in ten seconds. Drivers of this car should be able to exceed two hundred miles per hour easy, but the car will not get above 20 miles per gallon. The engine is a 5.2 liter V 10 that produces a powerful 602 horsepower and 413 foot pounds of torque; while the transmission is a automatic seven speed, with a dual clutch. • 8. How Television Programs Can Support And Facilitate Word... Introduction For many years, parents have relied on using educational programs to teach and engage their children with new concepts and materials. Conversely, many children have also used television as an opportunity for learning and language development. For example, the rise of television programs like Elmo Street and Teletubbies demonstrates this upward trend of substituting media sources for teaching and learning. However, despite the increasing support from parents toward television programs, many researchers have mixed reviews on putting our children into viewing long hours of what they considered unnecessary learning. Thus in what follows of this paper, I will focus on explaining how television programs can support and facilitate word development. Moreover, I will also discuss the mixed literacy support for using television as a learning tool and finally, I will conduct a study that measures, specifically, the relationship between watching educational TV and learning novel words. Hopefully, with these measures, I will be able to find supporting evidence that proves educational TV can be a good predictor for word learning. Throughout the years, one continuous point of debate has been whether educational TV can facilitate and improve word learning in children. Many studies on this debate have found distinct and mixed research outcomes. For example, one study has been Mabel s Rice Word from Sesame Street, in which he found mixed supporting evidence that television ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Billy Gibbons Research Paper Legendary Beard Fact: In 1984 Gillette offered Billy Gibbons and ZZ Top bandmate Dusty Hill $1,000,000 to shave their beards in a commercial. He turned them down cold, and wouldn t do it today for even twice the price. The reason? He dreads the thought of seeing his naked face in a mirror! He said he was afraid he looked to much like Vincent Price. Billy Gibbons is perhaps as famous for his chest length beard as he is for his music. As the founding member of iconic Texas blues rock band ZZ Top, Billy, along with bandmate Dusty Hill have two of the most famous beards in rock and roll. The third member of the group, ironically, named Frank Beard, is the only member sporting a naked chin. Billy started life as William Frederick Gibbons in Houston, TX, in 1949, son of Lorraine and Frederick Royal Gibbons. He was born into a musical family, as his father was an orchestra leader and concert pianist. Frederick worked, along with his cousin, legendary set decorator Cedric Gibbons, for Sam Goldwyn at MGM Studios in Hollywood. The first instrument to pique young Billy s interest was the drum, and his father sent him off to New York City to study with Tito Puente, the King of Latin Music. Around his thirteenth birthday, Billy was gifted with his first electric guitar, and it was true love. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This demonstrates and embodies how Phil Spector, the producer and creator of the Wall of Sound, held power over the Crystals. It is said that in producing the song, Spector chose specific instruments so that he could layer them in a way that would overshadow the voices...that just stopped short of being busy. When listening to the track, Uptown, one is able to notice that the Crystals seem to be trying to sing over the musical instrumentations. After the production of Uptown, a former Crystal member mentioned that Spector would barely let them take part in the production process. So, naval warfare in WW2 had many innovations. The aircraft carrier was the most noteworthy and became the most potent naval assets which the Allies gained an increasing monopoly in. Analytical Framework (Generalized Spatial Two Stage Least Square: GS2SLS) Hedonic price model has been developed and widely used to identify the factors explaining housing prices (Malpezzi, 2003). In this study, we deal with additional two statistical issues such as endogeneity between land use and housing price and spatial autocorrelation between housing prices. First, endogeneity should be carefully accounted for when measuring the effect of land use on housing prices because a simultaneous relationship between land use and housing prices exists. For example, better accessibility or high levels of mixed land use increase housing prices because such land use features bring about more activities firms are encouraged ... Previous studies have demonstrated that housing prices can be spatially affected by neighboring housing prices or unobserved neighboring factors. If we do not control for the spatial autocorrelation, the estimated values can be biased and inefficient (Anselin, 1988). In order to account for the issue, we use generalized spatial two stage least square (GS2SLS) model that accounts for the endogeneity and spatial autocorrelation together, which is expressed as the following equations; P=λWP+αL ̂+βX+u (5) u=ρWu+ϵ Because the hedonic price model generally uses a log form of housing prices, our final empirical model used in this study is expressed as the following equations; ln⁡ (P)=λW[ln(P)]+αL ̂+βX+u (6) u=ρWu+ϵ 4.2. Although it can be chosen by researcher s judgement, distance based weight matrix is more appropriate when the size of spatial units is irregular (e.g., in the case of census tracts). Hence, the spatial weight matrix used in this analysis is expressed as the follows; W_ij={■(1 if d_ij≤C @0 if d_ij C or i=j)┤ (7) where C denotes a distance cutoff ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Academic Coaching With Austin Is Going Well Essay Academic coaching with Austin seems to still be going well. Except for the fact that he still forgets to meet with me... and we meet at the same time and day of the week every week. I don t know how to approach this topic with him again because I already went over it and expressed that I need him to communicate with me about his absences. I was talking with one of my supervisors about it and she believes that he needs to be the one making first contact about missing appointments, instead of just responding when I reach out. He just always seems to have such good excuses. This week he was at a review session for his midterm. I just need him to communicate. I really don t care if we reschedule later in the week but I hate looking like an idiot when he doesn t show up. This semester we have known that Austin will struggle in one of his classes, and he took a test and did poorly on it. Unfortunately, he had the pleasure of finding this out for the first time when he logged into asulearn in my office. I felt bad. Immediately his demeanor changed and I could tell that he was upset. I tried to use this situation to let him know that sometimes crappy situations happen but that isn t a reason to stop trying. Working with him for a while now has taught me that he needs to explore multiple options and talk them through with others. So I had him talk through all of his grades so far, and what he could do with all of the opportunities he has remaining. For example, in this class he has 11 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Alexa is designed to continually listen to words, specifically wake up words that catch her attention. Police are hoping that words were said during the night that could have triggered Alexa to begin recording what it heard. Amazon refused to allow the investigators to have access to the records because they believe it violates their user s privacy and it seems to be overboard or inappropriate in their opinion. ... Similarly, a device that listens to you and has the capability to reach the internet, access information, or communicate should also be considered a computer. Something that contains personal information and is fully owned and only used by the owner, such as a personal computer, cell phone, or listening device, has a reasonable expectation of privacy. Victor Collins also holds the right to privacy within his own home. Payton v. New York has set the precedent for expecting privacy within your own home. Alexa is a device that is used within your own home, and therefor cannot be searched without a warrant.
