The Health Care Reform Act
The Health Care Reform Act was designed to benefit the citizens of the United States. Thanks to the
Affordable Care Act, 3.1 million more young adults have health insurance on their parent s plan, three
million seniors have received a 50 percent discount on their prescription drugs, and millions of
Americans now have access to no cost preventive services to help them stay healthy. Abusive
insurance practices are becoming a thing of the past. Additionally, the Affordable Care Act helps small
businesses with the cost of providing health insurance for their employees and helps doctors and other
health providers care for their patients more effectively.

3590) and the Health Care Education Reconciliation Act 2010 (H.R. 4872). When President Obama
signed these two bills, they became Public Law. The purpose of the ACA is to make health care more
accessible to all residents of the United States by three means: mandating all U.S. residents to select a
health insurance plan, forbidding insurers from denying coverage based on a pre existing condition,
and expanding program. The ACA states that the federal government will pay 100% of the cost of a
newly enrolled Medicaid participants until 2016 for all states that expand their Medicaid program up
to 138% of the federal poverty level and will pay90% by 2020 (Kincaid, 2013). Other concerns
include whether the federal government will give state enough flexibility to manage Medicaid
program, whether hospitals will receive adequate compensation to care for more patients and whether
the physician workforce can accommodate the increased demand for care (Kincaid, 2013). The ACA is
affected by two things, one is payments of hospitals and providers. The ACA does not provide fee for
service towards a bundled payment. This type of payment, a set amout is paid for all services rendered
and treatment related sickness. The ACA emphasizes pay per performance, meaning that the providers
will not receive payment based on the patient outcome. For example, if the patient has shown no
improvement there will be penalties. Also, there will be penalties if the patient has to be hospitalized

The Paperhanger
deserted their mansion. One night, the girl s mother decided to return to the mansion and look for her
daughter. It is here where she encounters the paperhanger once more. During this scene, the mother
offers to pay him to drive her into the woods and look for her daughter. He replied, I wouldn t charge
anybody anything to search for a child s body. But she s not in the woods. Nothing could have stayed
hidden, the way these woods were searched (165). By offering to help the child s mother the
paperhanger gains the mother s trust. To the reader, he appears to be helping the mother during a time
of need, making him a decent friend. The paperhanger manipulated the situation, to get the girl s
mother to trust him and consequently leave with him. He knew the child would not be found, not
because the woods were extensively searched, but because he remains. The paperhanger was supposed
to drive the child s mother to the woods, but instead drives her to a cemetery. After noticing that some
of the graves had been dismantled and robbed, she tells the paperhanger. He responded by saying, You
can t rob the dead. They have nothing left to steal (167). The woman was shocked by his response and
then asked him if he had robbed the graves. He responded by saying, The line between grave robbing
and archeology has always looked a little blurry to me. I was studying their culture trying to get a fix
on what their lives were like (168). This is the turning place in the story, where the

What it s made of: Mercury has a large core, estimated to be up to 75% of the planet s size. The core is
made up of liquid metal, predominantly iron, surrounded by a mantle of silica and a solid outer crust.
What group it s belong to: Terrestrial
When was it discovered/named: Timocharis made the first recorded observation of Mercury 265 BC.
Some other observations of Mercury include Zupus in 1639, who studied the planet s orbit.
Origin of the name: As Mercury is the closest planet to the sun, thus the fastest planet to orbit it,
Mercury was named after the Roman messenger god, Mercury. According to mythology, along with

What group it s belong to: Terrestrial
When was it discovered/named: The Babylonians have the earliest recording of the observation of
Venus, dating back to around 1581 BC.
Origin of the name: Venus was named after the roman goddess of love and beauty. This is most likely
because it is the brightest planet in the night sky. In ancient Babylonia, Venus was known as Ishtar, the
goddess of womanhood and love.
Atmosphere: Venus has a thick layer of Carbon Dioxide as it s atmosphere, much hotter and denser
than Earth s. Venus s atmosphere supports clouds made of sulphuric acid, making it impossible to
optically observe the planet s surface.
Interesting facts:
Venus has no moons.
Venus and Uranus rotate clockwise, the opposing direction of the other planets.
The surface of Venus is an estimated 3 4x older than earths, being around 300 400 million years old.
Venus is the closest planet to Earth.

John Scopes Trial Analysis
The Scopes Trial, a Dayton, Tennessee legal case involving the teaching of evolution within the public
school system, induced a pivotal point in American history. This world famous trial represents the
ongoing conflict between science and theology, faith and reason, individual freedom of speech, and
overruling opinion of the majority. The preeminent purpose of the case was to decide not only the fate
of an evolution theory teacher by the name of John Scopes, but also to decide if fundamentalists or
modernists would rule American culture and education. An object of profound publicity, the trial was
identified as a battle between urban modernism and rural fundamentalism.

Bryan had disregarded them and explained that he would answer questions only under the
circumstance that he could ask questions as well. Bryan had a lengthy list of inquisitions for Darrow
and supporting evolutionists; essential among these questions, he would demand explanation about the
missing evidence in fossil documentation. According to Bryan, genuine science cannot be proven true
until it is classified by legitimate knowledge, thus supporting his claim that the theory of evolution
cannot be veritable science since it is merely a string of theories and assumptions. Bryan intended to
express this point in his final argument in the trial. More precariously, he accentuated the missing
relations between humans and their supposed arthropod ancestors, because there are no tangible links
between them. Henry Fairfield, President of the American Museum of Natural History, came to Bryan
with so called evidence of horse and human evolution in 1922. In this confrontation with Bryan,
Fairfield explained that evidence for humanistic development as abundant as that of horse evolution
had not yet been discovered, but the very recent discovery of Tertiary man...constitutes the most
convincing answer to Mr. Bryan s call for more evidence. (Larson). Experienced witnesses requested
by Darrow brought this evidence with them to Dayton.
In the week leading up to the trial, hundreds of people and peddlers lined the streets, selling Bibles,
stuffed monkeys, and pins that read Your Old Man s a Monkey . There were even circus performers
with live chimpanzees to entertain children. Many people thought incorrectly that the theory of
evolution claimed that human beings were descended from monkeys; for this reason, the newspapers
and reporters dubbed the Scopes Trial the Monkey

Burglary Of Robbery And Robbery Essay
Burglary and robbery are different in many ways, but are the same. Burglary is when a person
unlawful entry to a person home or business building to commit the act of theft or a felony. When the
action of a burglary is committed by someone, the victim does not have to be present at the time of the
incident. (DeMille, 2016). When dealing with building types it can be numerous kind of business
offices. Burglary must take place when a person only unlawfully entered your home or building
without permission. Depending on the state s the status of the laws for the offense of burglary can be
considered a felony. Robbery is when a person has taken or trying to take something from another
person that has value unlawfully by force, intimidation or even threatening that person. Robbery is
different from burglary because in order for a person to commit the offense of robbery, a victim must
be present at the time of the incident for the crime to occur. Depending on the states and the values of
the item that was taken from the victim at the time of the incident the states statues of the laws for the
offense of robbery can be considered a felony. (DeMille, 2016). Burglary and robbery are the same in
only one category; both are considered to be property crimes. Search warrant requirement is the most

Single Mothers Conflict In Somalia
Mr. Ali [His real name withheld] married a single mom with two kids. He did a lot of work in two
shifts for about over a year. When the tax return time came along, he claimed dependents on his tax
return. As soon as he received the money, he sneaked out of the country to visit his wife in Africa.
Mr. Ali told his wife that he once married a woman, but then they got divorced. As usual, thousands of
such cases do happen every day. Therefore, single moms out there always fall victim to men such like
Mr. Ali who lie and cheat. But why do single mothers often face such problem more than unmarried
women? Do men have a fling probably done out of boredom? Thousands of single mothers get lied to
almost every day. In order to know why the single moms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why would anyone want to use them or try to get them in a secret marriage? Are they easy to get
fooled? I don t agree with the notion that single mothers are simply easy to get fooled. No, they are
not that naive. They don t have much time to over analyze everything around the man they are dating.
Unlike unmarried women who have much time on their hands.
Another reason that supports men to target divorced women is that they believe they are easy to get
married if compared to unmarried girls. When a man makes sure he is not going to throw a big
wedding party, then it is easy for him to lie to the woman and hide anything from her. I am not saying
all men who are in the process of marrying divorced women are liars. The point I am making here is it
is important for people to get to know each other well before they get hitched.
Another clear reason is that some men may prefer marrying single mothers with subsidized housing
than marrying those who live in a rented apartment. In Europe and North America, governments and
housing agencies offer several housing solutions for single moms. For single moms with a lower
income, this means having a clean and affordable place to bring up your kids. Today we see divorced
women raise husbands like kids in their affordable housing. When you allow a grown up man just to
crawl into your house, he does not pay a dime about your wedding and house furniture, and then you
are bringing up

The Ashley Treatment
The Ashley Treatment has been, and still remains, controversial. A statement written by Ashley s mom
and dad stated that Ashley had a normal birth, but her mental and motor faculties did not develop.
Over the years, neurologists, geneticists, and other specialists conducted every known traditional and
experimental test, but still could not determine a diagnosis or a cause. Doctor s call her condition static
encephalopathy of unknown etiology , which means an insult to the brain of unknown origin or cause,
and one that will not improve.
The The Ashley Treatment is now a generic phrase coined in the health profession that refers to
growth stunting procedures for children with severe disabilities. This name was given in reference to a

It is not clear whether or not the court would have stopped Ashley s parents from modifying her body
in the way they did. It seems likely that, at a minimum, the mastectomy would have been delayed until
it was clear that Ashley had in fact developed large uncomfortable breasts, something that was merely
speculative at the time of her surgery. It is certain, however, that imposition of limitations and process
in her case would have gone a long way toward reducing the risk that the procedures caused Ashley
more harm than any benefits they achieved. Obviously, time cannot be turned back for Ashley, but
future cases can and should be regulated more carefully (Ouellette, 2009). It has been more than five
years since the Ashley Treatment but the topic is still very much alive for a few reasons. One being,
that the treatment is still being given (at least 12 given so far in the U.S.), secondly because of the
legal issues raised and thirdly due to the moral issues it raises. In my opinion, the moral issues it raises
are enough to oppose the treatment in itself.
The justification behind the parents giving their daughter The Ashley Treatment were to improve her
the quality of life by keeping Ashley from suffering from menstrual pain, and enabling her to become
more mobile due to her lack of weight and height. This argument also states that the lives of the
parents will be made easier in caring for their terminally disabled

The Most Enjoyable Activity For Children
Taylor Putnam
Mr. Fiorelli
Honors Creative Writing
25 November 2014
For centuries, the most enjoyable activity for children to partake in is playing outside. Playing outside
develops fundamental social skills, engages all five senses, stimulates creativity and imagination, and
encourages cooperative play with others. Throughout the years, outside play has become increasingly
competitive. Now, every child is encouraged to sign up for competitive sports teams as soon as they
start going to school. Parents encourage these teams now instead of sending their child into the
backyard to explore on their own. In the aspect of staying healthy, this can be good but can be
dangerous farther down the road in terms of injuries. Today, injuries are ... Show more content on

Another type of therapist is an industrial therapist, who can execute rehabilitation care to patients at

Laguna Art Museum
On Thursday March 22nd, I visited the Laguna Art Museum with my boyfriend. I was very excited for
this assignment because I am a member at the Laguna art museum, but didn t yet see the new exhibit
for this season. The Laguna Art Museum is small and therefore, usually runs exhibits on one artist at
the time. I knew I would more than likely only be able to pick art pieces from one artist. At this time,
they were displaying a local artist, Tony DeLap, and work from his collection titled, Retrospective .
My expectation was that I probably wouldn t enjoy his work too much. I knew DeLap was a
minimalist, op artist , and that style of work isn t my favorite, typically I enjoy realist paintings.

Hammurabi And Gilgamesh
Resplendent Royalty Noble and just, kings from Before the Common Era, Hammurabi and Gilgamesh
vanquished evildoers from their lands, with influence forever shaping their respective society while
being revered by friends and feared by foes. With legacy inscribed in cuneiform, their legacy lives on
to prosper, the impact of which is insurmountable. However, unlike The Code of Hammurabi, The
Epic of Gilgamesh ...was not written by one specific author but evolved gradually... (95).
Nevertheless, Gilgamesh s core traits were not lost to the test of time, remaining a ...powerful kind and
an awe inspiring warrior (95). These two texts speak to the testaments of what great men are made of
and the how great societies are represented by equally great leaders. Even though Hammurabi and
Gilgamesh appear harsh in nature, they are virtuous and capable kings serving the greater purpose of
the people they represent. Consequently, the mighty rule of these kings brought about the perception
of brutality. In The Code of Hammurabi for example, the penalty ... [if a] merchant is then proved to
be a thief ... is that they ...shall be put to death (The Code of Hammurabi 6). Furthermore, thievery as
a common man would require the value be returned many times over again; if one was unable to do
so, ...he shall be put to death. (6). Capital punishment was not only applied to thievery, ...if a sister of
god open a tavern, or enter a tavern to drink, then shall this woman be burned to death (15).

Salmonella Outbreak
Introduction.
Background
This essay follows on to the findings from the report into the outbreak of a gastro intestinal illness
among attendants of the Street Spice Festival that took place between 28 February and 2 March 2013
in Newcastle. Due to the nature and scale of the outbreak, a multi agency coordination team swung in

epidemic. The mechanics of the food preparations and the additives were called into question that led

For an individual to succumb to salmonella, an infectious does 500,000 organisms is enough to cause
illness. Salmonella if found in the gastrointestinal tracts of animals and birds., with the typhoid one
only residing in the in human gut.
Prevalence:
The organism was responsible for 30% of food borne outbreaks in UK in 2009.
Salmonella is known to survive well in foods and on surfaces and survives well under a minimum of
7⁰C. Salmonella is capable of survival under refrigeration for long periods. Poultry and its products
has traditionally been the route of salmonella infection in humans in the UK. Outbreaks of salmonella
of 60% to 80% are usually termed as sporadic cases; this could be down to the fact that domestic
animals widely carry salmonella bacteria.
Food animal such as poultry, pigs, cattle but also pets like cats and dogs carry salmonella. The entire
food chain can be infected through animal feed and up to final food outlets (WHO). However,
outbreaks are very often caused by contaminated food. Ready to eat products are increasingly
becoming sources of salmonella infection just as we witnessed at the Street Spice Carnival. Heating

Why Is Schindler s List Considered Historically Accurate
The historical movie I chose to write about was Schindler s List , directed by Steven Spielberg. This
movie is set during World War II and is a true story about Oskar Schindler, a Nazi businessman who
makes money off of Jews forced labourers and how he saved the lives of hundreds of Jews by
employing them in his factories where they would be safe from death. The movie shows a horrific
inside perspective of The Holocaust, and how cruel the Nazis truly were to the Jews, Polish, and all
who were affected by the Third Reich. It shows inside the forced labour camps, the Auschwitz
concentration camp, and the interaction the Nazis had with each other and everyone around them. It
displays the disgusting behavior and norms Nazi Germany had during that time, and how simple and
faultless it was to humiliate and slaughter the Jews whom had done nothing wrong. I thoroughly
enjoyed this movie because it truly pulled audience into the story it was telling, and captured the tone
of The Holocaust quite well. The story is true and the main characters, including Oskar Schindler,
Amon Göth, and Itzhak Stern are all actual people who had impacts during the Second World War,

be sent to concentration camps or labour camps. He also did well at the selection process, showing

Contributions Of The Italian Renaissance
The Renaissance was a time of rebirth and a transition from the medieval time to the Early Modern
World. It emphasized human beings, their achievements, interests, and capabilities. This time period
was a gateway to the modern world and was essential for the improvement of human life. At the time
there were two main Renaissances, the Northern, and the Italian. The Italian Renaissance took place
from the 1400s to the 1700s, just after the plague spread through. One of the major reasons why the
Renaissance started in Italy was because of how fast the plague got through and spread throughout the
rest of Europe. The Northern Renaissance took place from the 1400s to the 1600s, because the ideas
from Italy spread to and then throughout Europe. Location was a key factor in where the rebirth would
take place. The Italian Renaissance took place in Florence, Italy. Florence had been the center of the
Roman Empire, which encouraged the rebirth to happen in a rapid pace. Another reason why the
Italian Renaissance took place in Florence was because of it s location along the Mediterranean Sea,
which aided trade and cultural diffusion. The Northern Renaissance took place in Flanders. Flanders
had sufficient amount of trade, but also an immense economic growth that caused the North to start a
renaissance of their own.
The Renaissance encouraged many advances in science, technology, art, literature, mathematics and
much more. In Italy the art was enhanced to look more realistic and

LITERATURE From the time Momofuku Ando developed the first instant noodles, they have

amounts of plasticizers in instant noodles in China. The process of making the noodles is what affects
the water absorbency of the noodles. In fact according to Beijing time progress technology

noodles, cooked, then deep fried in oil. They are then put through air knives, which does not however,

Apple Inc. s Ongoing Conversation With Consumers
On September 9th, 2014 Apple announced the upcoming release of its newest personal device, the
Apple Watch. The first advertisement released for television was a one minute advertisement that
featured only music and video of the watch in use with a simple written statement at the end of THE
WATCH IS COMING followed by the release date, 4.24.2015, and then the Apple Watch logo. This
essay will examine why this advertisement can be so simple and yet communicate so much by looking
at how this Apple Watch advertisement fits into the larger context of Apple Inc. s ongoing
conversation with consumers.
The first reason this advertisement is so effective is that, since the very successful release of the iPod
in 2001, Apple has been remarkably consistent in its branding and advertisements of personal devices.
So consistent that if you review the initial commercials of the iPod, iPhone, iPad, and now Apple
Watch there is an identifiable parallel structure to them all that has become increasingly simple and
clear over time. The first commercial for the iPod was the silhouette of a person dancing with an iPod
against a single colored background follow by iPod + iTunes , then the Apple logo. The first iPhone
commercial was a string of movie clips of people answering a phone followed by an image of the first
iPhone then Hello , Coming in June , and ending with the Apple logo again. The first iPad add is the
most similar to the Apple Watch add in that is simply has music while

Cressey s Theory
Differential association is a theory that was created by Edwin Sutherland. His theory was developed
between the years 1934 1947. It is actually considered, according to Donald R. Cressey in the
Criminal Law Commons Journal, as the best formulation to date of a general theory of criminality by
most sociologists. This theory states that criminals who are not exposed to non criminal behaviors
further develop criminal mindsets and motives. Cressey sums up the theory by stating it as ...
criminality is learned from observations of definitions favorable to law violation, the learning
including both the techniques of committing crime and the specific direction of motives, drives,
rationalizations and attitudes. The ratio between such definitions ... Show more content on

His theory has a nine proposition outline. 1) Criminal behavior is learned. 2) Criminal behavior is
learned through communication and social interactions, not necessarily because they have only or at
all, witnessed it. 3) Newspapers, film, television, or other forms of impersonal types of
communicating are less influencing to deviance than being involved in personal groups such as
inmates or rough friends. 4) Not only are techniques used to commit crimes learned behaviors, but so
are the motivations, rationalization, and individual s attitude. 5) The way a culture views concepts as
deviant or not deviant is how individuals learn pro criminal and anti criminal understandings of the
law. 6) Just being around criminal behavior does not necessarily mean one will become a criminal. It
depends upon the ration of criminal and non criminal influences in one s life. 7) Duration and priority
of being influenced by the criminal acts largely plays a role in learning the behaviors. 8) Learning not
only teaches people to imitate behavior, criminal or not, but on a deeper level grows to understand and
develop these behaviors, whatever they may be. 9) What motivates a crime, or non criminal, law
abiding behavior cannot and will not be the same for

Examples Of Recap Main Ideas
Recap Main Ideas: The first main idea of this video is, he could do whatever he wanted, whenever he
wanted, however he wanted it. He moved his entire government just because he wanted to. The second
main idea is, he could just imprison anyone he wanted to without a trial. For example, a huge party
thrown my Nicholas Foucquet was perceived as threatening his own magnificence so he just threw
Foucquet in jail. The third main idea is that, everything was perfect for him, he could get whatever he
wanted because apparently, he was just superior to all other human beings. For example, he insisted on
having his garden have perfectly symmetrical lines. The Fourth main idea is that everything that
happened went through him first. For example, anyone

Narrative Essay About Titanic
Titanic, the HMHS Britannic, RMS Lusitania; what do these names all have in common? That s right,
they all were boats that sunk. Relating to my story, I was in a tropical paradise that looked as if it was
the kind you see on calendars and default backgrounds on computers, the kind you thought never
really existed. Never had I seen such beauty before. My family and I walked the soft sanded beaches
for hours on end every day, soaking in all of the burning sun s rays and exploring everything the island
had to offer. I fell in love with the warm, clear, turquoise waters and the smell of salt water in the air
wherever you go. As soon as I stepped off the plane, I knew that Turks and Caicos was a once in a
lifetime opportunity, one to be cherished forever. But no trip would be memorable if there wasn t a
moment of action and adventure. So in order to make this the greatest trip of all time, my family and I
decided to go against the wishes of the resort and go where no tourist dared to go. This could ve been
the vacation getaway talking, but we rented mini boats from off resort merchants, unsure of the
dangers that were to come.
My family of six loaded into 3 mini boats fit for two kids. With all of us being over the age of 12, it
was bound to be a tight squeeze. I started off driving one of three mini boats across the choppy waters
with my sister right by my side. Gone in a flash, my brothers went whizzing by with the sound of their
engine roaring a high pitched roar. The resort

Innocent Man
A book Review of The Innocent Man
By, Oscar Thomas
Novelist, former attorney, and Mississippi legislator, John Grisham, wrote the book entitled Innocent
Man. As a small town lawyer in the South, he experienced many events that provided him with a clear
view of families and communities. For this particular book, however, he gathered research that would
provide insight to the justice system of Oklahoma and he found injustice that took the best years of a
man s life.
While reading several selections Grisham book, I conclude that he is definitely pro anti capital
punishment. He really focuses on the lack of justice in the criminal justice system in states
predominately in the South and Midwest area. In these states spending any ... Show more content on

In an era where everyone is so concerned about the money, denying a defendant a reasonable amount
of funding (to his public defender) for expert consultants and their testimonies could save thousands
upon millions of dollars in wrongful prosecution lawsuits later. With the advent of DNA, many
previously convicted men and women are being let out. Interestingly enough, DNA evidence isn t the
ONLY thing that would have exonerated them, but no one would listen. One issue I think Grisham
was trying to help people see is the fact that we should not believe what we THINK, it has to be what
we KNOW. What is the harm in humane treatment? Yes, criminals should be kept from the public, but
since the justice system is not perfect and will make mistakes they shouldn t be so self righteous about
their treatment of those they deem unworthy.
Ron s example was just one of many who, because they are not the smartest, most capable souls, they
make stupid mistakes, their odd behaviors offend many and they are the first ones put under a
microscope when something goes wrong.
In light of recent events, the shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school, multiple bomb and shooting
threats since then, as well as other crimes (NYC subway system) people tend to react in a negative
way toward people they feel are a threat. IF they are odd or quirky, for example, I recently read that in
New York, right after Sandy Hook, a local politician made the

A Brief Biography Of Susan B. Anthony
Susan B. Anthony lived in a time where there were very few rights for women and African Americans.
A strong woman, Anthony was a famous suffragist, often credited with gaining the right to vote for
women, an abolitionist as well as a writer. Her life was devoted to finding equality for all Americans
and she had a significant impact upon the history of America.
Susan Brownell Anthony was born to a Quaker family on the day of February 15, 1820. Even in her
early childhood she spent much of her time with community service. She had a large family, being the
second oldest of eight children, with her mother and father. Her father was a cotton mill owner. At the
age of six, Susan s father moved the family to Battenville, New York and she began attending a
Quaker school. Unfortunately, it was around this time that the business of her father failed and
Anthony had to move back home to help make money for her family as a teacher. The Anthony s ...

She went on to contribute another book called The Life and WOrk of Susan B. Anthony: A Story of
the Evolution of the Status of Women.
Susan B. Anthony continued to pursue rights for women up until her late years. The zenith of her
journey was in 1905 when she received the chance to talk to Theodore Roosevelt during his
presidency to persuade him to give women the right to vote. Unfortunately, her death shortly followed,
in 1906 on March 13 at the age of 86. It was a cruel end for her. She had given up the greater majority
of her life pursuing liberty and the right to vote for women yet she was not able to see it in her
lifetime.
It took fourteen long years after her death that the 19th amendment was passed which gave women the
right to vote in the year 1920. 73 years after her death she was given the ultimate honor for her
devotion and her commitment to her cause. Her picture was placed on the dollar

Anger Between Anger And Anger
Anger can be defined in a multitude of ways, as well as seen in a variety of different perspectives.
Anger can most commonly be defined as a feeling of tension and hostility that may have been caused
by anxiety due to unwanted actions from someone or something that is perceived to be offensive,
threatening, or against one s beliefs. (1) Witnessing this emotion typically leads to an emotional
reaction that can be seen as extreme rage, displeasure, and hostility. This is caused because when one
is angry, you instantly feel the urge to retaliate back. It is very commonly believed that anger emerges
from people that we do not commonly associate ourselves with on a personal level. This could be your
boss, an acquaintance you may have, or even a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allows for the person to be put out of the danger because you took the action to keep them safe.
Another way that expressing anger can be seen as a positive feeling is that it can be used as a
reinforcer. After doing further studying, it was able to be inferred that reinforcement is more beneficial
than punishment. This can be shown through the action of expressing anger. When your child does not
do their chores, it is expected that a parent becomes angry when their child to do what they are told.
When the parent expresses their anger towards their child, it overcomes the child and helps to
reinforce the rule of doing their chores. By displaying anger to the child, it will allow them to learn
that they need to follow the rules because they do not want to see their parent with that tone anymore.
(Becourtney, 2006 2011) Anger can also be seen as a positive feeling because it allows people to
overcome a state of hurt. All anger does not consist of throwing things, being physically violent, and
speaking loudly. Expressing anger can also be expressed by isolating oneself from someone because
they are hurt. Furthermore, when someone passes away many people go through the dwelling stage.
You can experience something similar when dealing with anger. In the positive aspect anger allows
one to express feelings that they may have been holding in from a person. This allows for solutions to
the problem to be solved. (American

Criminal Investigation And The Crime Scene
I am sure I am not the only one that thinks of the hit television show CSI when I hear of criminal
investigations. What people probably don t know is that the people who work as investigators are not
particularly pretty people with pencil skirts, expensive suits, and a full hair and makeup team; they are
law enforcers that specialize in the science aspect of solving crimes.
In 2009, Hekim stated that: Investigative police work is mostly about the recovery, analysis and
interpretation of information about criminal offenses. The investigative process of a crime consists of
taking victim and witness statements, examining the crime scene, collecting physical evidence,
analyzing collected material to identify the offender(s) and then ... Show more content on

1). Americans obtained their first investigators in 1789 and they were known as revenue agents (O
Connor, 2006, para. 3). Americans in the late 1700s were recruited from civilian life and it wasn t until
the 1950s that a college education was preferred in the investigations department (O Connor, 2006,
para. 3). The first major private detective agency of the nineteenth century was formed by Allan
Pinkerton in 1819 1884 (Swanson et al., 2002, para 1). In my opinion, the biggest milestone for
investigative work was the discovery of DNA. It has made the task of apprehending criminals
exponentially easier and is virtually error free.
How to become a Criminal Investigator There are different ways to become a criminal investigator:
you can go to school and major in criminology or criminal science and get hired as a criminal
investigator perhaps in a small town where prior experience is not required or you can take the most
common avenue and become a police officer first. After becoming a sworn police officer, you can
receive on the job training and attend specialized classes to become an investigator. Speaking with a
current Myrtle Beach Police Crime Scene Investigator, David Bailey, I learned that if you want to go
into investigations you don t necessarily need a certain under graduate major; you just need to get your
foot in the door by becoming a police officer and then be willing to

How Did Jim Jones Influence On Communism
Jim Jones, a nobody to some and a crazy religious cult leader to others. Jim Jones was born on May
13th, 1931 and passed away on Novemeber 18th, 1978. Jones was an american cult and religious
leader, who was responsible for a mass murder/suicide of himself and his followers in Jonestown,
Guyana.
Jones belived deeply in communism. He belived that communism was the only correct way for social
order, in compliance with god s will. Communism exists when a society has all their property owned
publicly and every person is paid according to their abilities and things they need. Which even though
somewhat of a good though, communism is never and will never be a good political thought to act
upon. As a young kid jones heavily read on political figures such as Karl Marx and Joseph Stalin,
which is lead to believe where his thoughts on communism started out. Jim didnt make alot of friends
when he was younger, very much an outsider, which is where he went to books and religion. He was
described as a weird kid that was obsessed with religion and death . Jones had also stoof up for race
equality all his life. Pursuing acts of defiance towards social norms that placed whites higher than
blacks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

finally he would relocate nearly one thousand of his followers to a remote jungle island in Guyana. In

A Hunting Scene By Piere Di Cosimo
Often times, the artifacts of a society can tell us much about the values and beliefs of the people that
lived in it. The art and artifacts of a society must have been produced for having a significant role in
its culture and it s important that they demonstrate important characteristics of a society s culture to
the audience. By examining and comparing physical objects from different societies that depict similar
things or have similar function, we can often be able to reveal important features of each culture. Two
such pieces of art are the relief fragments from the wall of a tomb that belonged to an Egyptian official
named Khety, and a painting entitled A Hunting Scene by Italian Renaissance artist, Piere di Cosimo.
The most significant feature of these objects is that they both portray hunting scenes. The Egyptian
relief fragments also depict images of fishing and fowling. Many points of comparison exist between
these two pieces of art such as the perspectives they use to represent the ... Show more content on

The visual appearance of the people and animals in Cosimo s hunting scene shows close attention
detail to elements such as anatomy and shows an effort to represent the scene in the most lifelike way
possible. In Italian Renaissance culture, there was a push in the arts towards realism which was an
attempt to represent the subject as realistically and as truthfully as possible. Cosimo represents hunting
with the accuracy that was sought after in Renaissance art. Representation in ancient Egyptian art
reflected a different set of practices. While the Egyptians also attempted to capture their subjects as
realistically as possible, their view of reality was different than the reality accepted by Renaissance
artists. Khety s tomb fragments demonstrated how the Egyptians commonly used stoic and idealistic
postures when illustrating

Culture
Any consideration of Spanish culture must stress the tremendous importance of religion in the history
of the country and in the life of the individual. An index of the influence of Roman Catholicism is
provided by the fervent mystical element in the art and literature of Spain, the impressive list of its
saints, and the large number of religious congregations and orders. The Catholic marriage is the basis
of the family, which in turn is the foundation of Spanish society. Economy
Spain has traditionally been an agricultural country and is still one of the largest producers of farm
commodities in Western Europe, but since the mid 1950s industrial growth has been rapid. A series of
development plans, initiated in
1964, helped the economy to expand, but in the later 1970s an economic slowdown was brought on by
rising oil costs and increased imports. Subsequently, the government emphasized the development of
the steel, shipbuilding, textile, and mining industries. Spain derives much income from tourism. The
annual budget in the early 1990s included revenues of about $97.7 billion and expenditures of about
$128 billion. On January 1, 1986, Spain became a full member of the
European Community (now the European Union, or EU).
Agriculture
Agriculture is a mainstay of the Spanish economy, employing, with forestry and fishing, about 10
percent of the labor force.

  • 2. The Health Care Reform Act The Health Care Reform Act was designed to benefit the citizens of the United States. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, 3.1 million more young adults have health insurance on their parent s plan, three million seniors have received a 50 percent discount on their prescription drugs, and millions of Americans now have access to no cost preventive services to help them stay healthy. Abusive insurance practices are becoming a thing of the past. Additionally, the Affordable Care Act helps small businesses with the cost of providing health insurance for their employees and helps doctors and other health providers care for their patients more effectively. The purpose of the ACA is to make health care more accessible to all residents of the United States by three means: mandating all U.S. residents to select a health insurance plan, forbidding insurers from denying coverage based on a pre existing condition, and expanding program. The ACA states that the federal government will pay 100% of the cost of a newly enrolled Medicaid participants until 2016 for all states that expand their Medicaid program up to 138% of the federal poverty level and will pay90% by 2020 (Kincaid, 2013). Other concerns include whether the federal government will give state enough flexibility to manage Medicaid program, whether hospitals will receive adequate compensation to care for more patients and whether the physician workforce can accommodate the increased demand for care (Kincaid, 2013). The ACA is affected by two things, one is payments of hospitals and providers. The ACA does not provide fee for service towards a bundled payment. This type of payment, a set amout is paid for all services rendered and treatment related sickness. The ACA emphasizes pay per performance, meaning that the providers will not receive payment based on the patient outcome. For example, if the patient has shown no improvement there will be penalties. Also, there will be penalties if the patient has to be hospitalized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Paperhanger deserted their mansion. One night, the girl s mother decided to return to the mansion and look for her daughter. It is here where she encounters the paperhanger once more. During this scene, the mother offers to pay him to drive her into the woods and look for her daughter. He replied, I wouldn t charge anybody anything to search for a child s body. But she s not in the woods. Nothing could have stayed hidden, the way these woods were searched (165). By offering to help the child s mother the paperhanger gains the mother s trust. To the reader, he appears to be helping the mother during a time of need, making him a decent friend. The paperhanger manipulated the situation, to get the girl s mother to trust him and consequently leave with him. He knew the child would not be found, not because the woods were extensively searched, but because he remains. The paperhanger was supposed to drive the child s mother to the woods, but instead drives her to a cemetery. After noticing that some of the graves had been dismantled and robbed, she tells the paperhanger. He responded by saying, You can t rob the dead. They have nothing left to steal (167). The woman was shocked by his response and then asked him if he had robbed the graves. He responded by saying, The line between grave robbing and archeology has always looked a little blurry to me. I was studying their culture trying to get a fix on what their lives were like (168). This is the turning place in the story, where the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. John Scopes Trial Analysis The Scopes Trial, a Dayton, Tennessee legal case involving the teaching of evolution within the public school system, induced a pivotal point in American history. This world famous trial represents the ongoing conflict between science and theology, faith and reason, individual freedom of speech, and overruling opinion of the majority. The preeminent purpose of the case was to decide not only the fate of an evolution theory teacher by the name of John Scopes, but also to decide if fundamentalists or modernists would rule American culture and education. An object of profound publicity, the trial was identified as a battle between urban modernism and rural fundamentalism. On January 20, 1925, a Tennessee state senator, John A. Shelton, proposed ... Bryan had a lengthy list of inquisitions for Darrow and supporting evolutionists; essential among these questions, he would demand explanation about the missing evidence in fossil documentation. According to Bryan, genuine science cannot be proven true until it is classified by legitimate knowledge, thus supporting his claim that the theory of evolution cannot be veritable science since it is merely a string of theories and assumptions. Bryan intended to express this point in his final argument in the trial. More precariously, he accentuated the missing relations between humans and their supposed arthropod ancestors, because there are no tangible links between them. Henry Fairfield, President of the American Museum of Natural History, came to Bryan with so called evidence of horse and human evolution in 1922. In this confrontation with Bryan, Fairfield explained that evidence for humanistic development as abundant as that of horse evolution had not yet been discovered, but the very recent discovery of Tertiary man...constitutes the most convincing answer to Mr. Bryan s call for more evidence. (Larson). Experienced witnesses requested by Darrow brought this evidence with them to Dayton. In the week leading up to the trial, hundreds of people and peddlers lined the streets, selling Bibles, stuffed monkeys, and pins that read Your Old Man s a Monkey . There were even circus performers with live chimpanzees to entertain children. Many people thought incorrectly that the theory of evolution claimed that human beings were descended from monkeys; for this reason, the newspapers and reporters dubbed the Scopes Trial the Monkey ... • 7. Single Mothers Conflict In Somalia Mr. Ali [His real name withheld] married a single mom with two kids. He did a lot of work in two shifts for about over a year. When the tax return time came along, he claimed dependents on his tax return. As soon as he received the money, he sneaked out of the country to visit his wife in Africa. Mr. Ali told his wife that he once married a woman, but then they got divorced. As usual, thousands of such cases do happen every day. Therefore, single moms out there always fall victim to men such like Mr. Ali who lie and cheat. But why do single mothers often face such problem more than unmarried women? Why would anyone want to use them or try to get them in a secret marriage? Are they easy to get fooled? I don t agree with the notion that single mothers are simply easy to get fooled. No, they are not that naive. They don t have much time to over analyze everything around the man they are dating. Unlike unmarried women who have much time on their hands. Another reason that supports men to target divorced women is that they believe they are easy to get married if compared to unmarried girls. When a man makes sure he is not going to throw a big wedding party, then it is easy for him to lie to the woman and hide anything from her. I am not saying all men who are in the process of marrying divorced women are liars. The point I am making here is it is important for people to get to know each other well before they get hitched. Another clear reason is that some men may prefer marrying single mothers with subsidized housing than marrying those who live in a rented apartment. In Europe and North America, governments and housing agencies offer several housing solutions for single moms. For single moms with a lower income, this means having a clean and affordable place to bring up your kids. Today we see divorced women raise husbands like kids in their affordable housing. When you allow a grown up man just to crawl into your house, he does not pay a dime about your wedding and house furniture, and then you are bringing up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Ashley Treatment The Ashley Treatment has been, and still remains, controversial. A statement written by Ashley s mom and dad stated that Ashley had a normal birth, but her mental and motor faculties did not develop. Over the years, neurologists, geneticists, and other specialists conducted every known traditional and experimental test, but still could not determine a diagnosis or a cause. Doctor s call her condition static encephalopathy of unknown etiology , which means an insult to the brain of unknown origin or cause, and one that will not improve. This name was given in reference to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is not clear whether or not the court would have stopped Ashley s parents from modifying her body in the way they did. It seems likely that, at a minimum, the mastectomy would have been delayed until it was clear that Ashley had in fact developed large uncomfortable breasts, something that was merely speculative at the time of her surgery. It is certain, however, that imposition of limitations and process in her case would have gone a long way toward reducing the risk that the procedures caused Ashley more harm than any benefits they achieved. Obviously, time cannot be turned back for Ashley, but future cases can and should be regulated more carefully (Ouellette, 2009). It has been more than five years since the Ashley Treatment but the topic is still very much alive for a few reasons. One being, that the treatment is still being given (at least 12 given so far in the U.S.), secondly because of the legal issues raised and thirdly due to the moral issues it raises. In my opinion, the moral issues it raises are enough to oppose the treatment in itself. The justification behind the parents giving their daughter The Ashley Treatment were to improve her the quality of life by keeping Ashley from suffering from menstrual pain, and enabling her to become more mobile due to her lack of weight and height. This argument also states that the lives of the parents will be made easier in caring for their terminally disabled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Most Enjoyable Activity For Children Taylor Putnam Mr. Fiorelli Honors Creative Writing 25 November 2014 For centuries, the most enjoyable activity for children to partake in is playing outside. Playing outside develops fundamental social skills, engages all five senses, stimulates creativity and imagination, and encourages cooperative play with others. Throughout the years, outside play has become increasingly competitive. Now, every child is encouraged to sign up for competitive sports teams as soon as they start going to school. I was very excited for this assignment because I am a member at the Laguna art museum, but didn t yet see the new exhibit for this season. At this time, they were displaying a local artist, Tony DeLap, and work from his collection titled, Retrospective . My expectation was that I probably wouldn t enjoy his work too much. These two texts speak to the testaments of what great men are made of and the how great societies are represented by equally great leaders. • 12. Salmonella Outbreak Introduction. Background This essay follows on to the findings from the report into the outbreak of a gastro intestinal illness among attendants of the Street Spice Festival that took place between 28 February and 2 March 2013 in Newcastle. Due to the nature and scale of the outbreak, a multi agency coordination team swung in place to oversee the entire operation. Like any food poising on a large scale, public health agencies take control of such incidences as public health is paramount and as well to limit the spread of the epidemic. Salmonella is capable of survival under refrigeration for long periods. Poultry and its products has traditionally been the route of salmonella infection in humans in the UK. Outbreaks of salmonella of 60% to 80% are usually termed as sporadic cases; this could be down to the fact that domestic animals widely carry salmonella bacteria. Food animal such as poultry, pigs, cattle but also pets like cats and dogs carry salmonella. The entire food chain can be infected through animal feed and up to final food outlets (WHO). However, outbreaks are very often caused by contaminated food. Ready to eat products are increasingly becoming sources of salmonella infection just as we witnessed at the Street Spice Carnival. • 13. Why Is Schindler s List Considered Historically Accurate The historical movie I chose to write about was Schindler s List , directed by Steven Spielberg. This movie is set during World War II and is a true story about Oskar Schindler, a Nazi businessman who makes money off of Jews forced labourers and how he saved the lives of hundreds of Jews by employing them in his factories where they would be safe from death. The movie shows a horrific inside perspective of The Holocaust, and how cruel the Nazis truly were to the Jews, Polish, and all who were affected by the Third Reich. It shows inside the forced labour camps, the Auschwitz concentration camp, and the interaction the Nazis had with each other and everyone around them. It displays the disgusting behavior and norms Nazi Germany had during that time, and how simple and faultless it was to humiliate and slaughter the Jews whom had done nothing wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie because it truly pulled audience into the story it was telling, and captured the tone of The Holocaust quite well. • 15. Contributions Of The Italian Renaissance The Renaissance was a time of rebirth and a transition from the medieval time to the Early Modern World. It emphasized human beings, their achievements, interests, and capabilities. This time period was a gateway to the modern world and was essential for the improvement of human life. At the time there were two main Renaissances, the Northern, and the Italian. The Italian Renaissance took place from the 1400s to the 1700s, just after the plague spread through. One of the major reasons why the Renaissance started in Italy was because of how fast the plague got through and spread throughout the rest of Europe. The Northern Renaissance took place from the 1400s to the 1600s, because the ideas from Italy spread to and then throughout Europe. Location was a key factor in where the rebirth would take place. The Italian Renaissance took place in Florence, Italy. Florence had been the center of the Roman Empire, which encouraged the rebirth to happen in a rapid pace. Another reason why the Italian Renaissance took place in Florence was because of it s location along the Mediterranean Sea, which aided trade and cultural diffusion. The Northern Renaissance took place in Flanders. Flanders had sufficient amount of trade, but also an immense economic growth that caused the North to start a renaissance of their own. This essay will examine why this advertisement can be so simple and yet communicate so much by looking at how this Apple Watch advertisement fits into the larger context of Apple Inc. s ongoing conversation with consumers. The first reason this advertisement is so effective is that, since the very successful release of the iPod in 2001, Apple has been remarkably consistent in its branding and advertisements of personal devices. Yes, criminals should be kept from the public, but since the justice system is not perfect and will make mistakes they shouldn t be so self righteous about their treatment of those they deem unworthy. Anger can most commonly be defined as a feeling of tension and hostility that may have been caused by anxiety due to unwanted actions from someone or something that is perceived to be offensive, threatening, or against one s beliefs. (1) Witnessing this emotion typically leads to an emotional reaction that can be seen as extreme rage, displeasure, and hostility. Another way that expressing anger can be seen as a positive feeling is that it can be used as a reinforcer. After doing further studying, it was able to be inferred that reinforcement is more beneficial than punishment. This can be shown through the action of expressing anger. When your child does not do their chores, it is expected that a parent becomes angry when their child to do what they are told. When the parent expresses their anger towards their child, it overcomes the child and helps to reinforce the rule of doing their chores. By displaying anger to the child, it will allow them to learn that they need to follow the rules because they do not want to see their parent with that tone anymore. (Becourtney, 2006 2011) Anger can also be seen as a positive feeling because it allows people to overcome a state of hurt. All anger does not consist of throwing things, being physically violent, and speaking loudly. Expressing anger can also be expressed by isolating oneself from someone because they are hurt. Furthermore, when someone passes away many people go through the dwelling stage. You can experience something similar when dealing with anger.
