may seem contradictory, but there is evidence that music is and has been a part of many deaf people s
lives. Music is and has been a part of the Deaf culture, including, but not limited to, Deaf musicians,
utilising music to teach speech. The primary purpose of this thesis was to explore the relation between
Deaf culture and music and examine the role of music in the deaf culture and to relate the findings to
current practices in music education programs for hearing impaired students historically and presently.
We also look at the introduction of sign language interpreters in live vocal music performances as well
pre recorded shows and music videos and also how it is being adopted in the music industry.
Secondary purposes of the study were to accumulate data of ways in which the music industry has
provided for the Deaf Communities by organising concerts and raves for them.

unknown bacteria through different biochemical tests and identified the many metabolic capabilities of
the bacteria. Studying and discovering unknown bacteria is very important in the health field as it may
lead to new medicines and innovations for current, existing diseases as well as any upcoming diseases.
The discovery of unknown bacteria is very useful in the pharmaceutical industry, as most of the
products prepared are made based on these unknown organisms.
The biochemical tests used to identify the unknown bacteria included: phenol red broth test (glucose,
lactose, and sucrose), methyl red and Voges Proskauer test, citrate test, indole test, H2S production
test, urea test and motility test. The PR broths are used to differentiate members of Enterobacteriaceae
and to distinguish these members from other gram negative rods. The PR broths are useful in
determining a bacterium s fermentation abilities. If the bacterium is able to utilize the carbohydrate,
then the acid production from fermentation lowers pH, which in turn turns the broth yellow. However,
if the bacterium is unable to utilize the carbohydrate, but does utilize the peptone, which produces the
by product ammonia, the medium will have a rise in pH turning the broth pink.

Supreme Court Case
The United States attention was captivated on the Supreme Court Case of Powell vs Alabama during
the 1930s. During the time period, this case revealed the brutal treatment towards African Americans
more than any other event. The case began on March 25, 1931, when a group of young white and
African American youths were traveling on a train to find a job. A physical encounter broke out
between them and the white youths were thrown out of the train. Then they reported the incident to a
stationmaster, who stopped the train. The police arrived to gather the nine African Americans and
brought them to jail. Nine young African Americans were recognized as the Scottsboro boys . They
were accused of rape of two white women on that train. The white jury convicted eight of them, all
except one, the youngest at 12 years old, and were sentenced to death. These youths were falsely
charged with raping two white women in Alabama. Although there was no evidence that linked the
African Americans to the white women, they were still charged with sexual assault. The two women
fearing prosecution for their sexual relationship with the white men agreed to testify against the black
youths. The Supreme Court Case of Powell vs Alabama is crucial in both Civil Rights history and in
the evolution of the Constitution.

Puerto Rico is a Spanish speaking region made up of one big island and a few smaller islands in the

automatically born in Puerto Rico, you are automatically a U.S citizen. They use U.S passports to

Ricans to the United States is more complex, as well as one of a kind. Similarities do exist between

When Puerto Ricans migrated to the United States they did it in two major waves. The first wave of
emigration occurred in the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century. The second wave
occurred from the 1940s to the present. The workings of Bernando Vega and Jose Cruz deal with the
different generations of Puerto Ricans that these two waves brought to the United States. While Vega
discusses the early emigration of Puerto Ricans to New York City, Cruz discusses the later emigration

After the gulf wars, a ceasefire was negotiated between the United Nations coalition and Iraq. During
the ceasefire, the United Nations became aware that Iraq had started a biological warfare program in
