The Prospect Of Human Genetic Engineering
Rafi Ebne Rafi Dr. McKinnis ENG 201 April 8th, 2015 On the Prospect of Human Genetic
Engineering In the year of 2013 roughly 7.6 million people died of cancer, 1.5 million people died of
AIDS, and another 70,000 of Cystic Fibrosis ( World Cancer Day ; CF Foundation ). What do all these
diseases have in common? Modern medicine has no guaranteed way of curing them. The fact of the
matter is that we as a society don t know much about these, and some other life threatening diseases.
As a result, more years of research need to be undergone in order develop unique drugs that may cure
these, and other complex diseases . How long do you suppose it will take for a drug to come forth?
Five, ten, thirty years? What if it doesn t even exist? How many people do you suppose will die in the
meantime? Now my point is not to make one think that there is no method to curing diseases similar to
those previously mentioned. As a matter of fact, my point is to shine light upon a promising method
that has been showing results: genetic engineering. With the advancements of science, genetic
engineering is becoming a more and more developed procedure that has already saved the lives of
those terminally ill. But where one problem is solved, another arises. With the ever growing social
prominence of genetic engineering, ethical concerns are reaching a frenzied state. Many are weary of
playing God, and the idea of changing one s genetic makeup seems morally unjust. They see genetic

Behavioral Intervention Program Models in Autism
Application Exercise 5: Summary of an Applied Behavior Analytic Journal Article
I) Introduction
a) What are the main reasons why the authors decided to conduct this study? How did they justify
what they did?
Parent training is an important part of behavioral interventions for children with developmental
disabilities and challenging behaviors. It is also important that all individuals in the child s daily life
implements the behavioral treatment plan correctly and consistently in order to benefit the most. With
the greatest outcome in mind, what is a cost effective way making sure the desired outcome is
accomplished?
How do we enable the training to cover more than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter how hard we work with the child in the clinic, if there is going to be real and lasting
improvement it needs to be generalized into the child s other settings. We try to involve parents in
process and offer training through parent workshops that take place every few months and one on one
parent trainings at the clinic. If the pyramidal train the trainer procedure is an effective method for
training the child s caregivers it could play a large role in our parent training process. If we can
effectively train all the primary caregivers in the life of the child, then it is more likely that the
treatment plan will be generalized to the child s other settings.
II) Methods
a) Describe the participants and setting (location, physical arrangements)
The study consisted of three children and their caregivers. The participants were Sam a 4 year old boy,
Myron an 11 year old boy, and Robin a 7 year old girl. For each child a primary caregiver was
selected, and then they selected two additional secondary caregivers. Each of these caregivers would
participate in training sessions, which were conducted in the children s homes. The training sessions
with Sam s caregivers were conducted in his bedroom, training sessions with Myron s caregivers were
conducted in the living room, and training sessions with Robin s caregivers were conducted in the
kitchen, all of which contained a table and chairs.

My Views On Educational Psychology
Educational Psychology has really opened my eyes and encouraged me to think about who I am and
what kind of teacher I would like to be. In this class we have delved deep into ourselves with different
self assessments, which have lead to a better understanding of our strengths and weaknesses. Getting
to know myself so thoroughly allowed me to realize how dynamic each one of my students will be and
how my teaching style will need to be just as dynamic. Then, learning about the different philosophies
of education helped me grasp how to formulate my own teaching philosophy. Last but not least,
participating in the Junior Achievement program allowed me to get a taste of actually being in the
classroom and gave me the opportunity to test out my own philosophy temporarily. Overall,
understanding my personalities, learning about different educational philosophies and seeing how they
work in the classroom has showed me how to be a teacher that makes a difference in the lives of my
students. Throughout this semester, I really enjoyed taking multiple self assessments to understand my
own personality, but I think the Types of Intelligence Assessment and the Educational Philosophies
Assessment were the most helpful. First, the Intelligence Assessment allowed me to connect my way
of thinking and the subjects I do well in with a type of intelligence. In my case, I scored higher in
Logical and Mathematical Thinking and in Insightful Skills for Analyzing Others, which makes sense
because I

Exploratory Research
Methods and Designs
Many of the research methods for which the research we have reviewed is classified as either
exploratory or constructive. Rape culture, victim blaming, and rape myths encompass more gray areas
(uncertainties) than mere black (wrong) and white (right) understandings. As few of the studies
specifically sought to gain insight in what is considered consent, therefore they exploratory research
wanting to purely define and identify the miscommunication and mixed opinions of interpretations of
consent, as they consider this to be a root to the problem of rape (16p.907)(8p.470)(19p.518). A couple
other studies we found went a different route and chose to test theories they had relating to rape and

A fair share of qualitative and quantitative research was conducted in an attempt to adequately address
the specific questions that were being asked. All of the research we reviewed used primary data and
chose not to utilize secondary data to conduct their experiments, however, several of the studies
references secondary data sources when speaking of historical backgrounds of rape and in their
discussions. The methods our group has chosen to pay particular interest to are those that were used to
gather data from participants at college campuses, as this is the population we wish to further explore.
Due to women of college age being at an increased risk for sexual violence, several of the studies we
found pursued out this population as well. A study conducted at James Madison University gathered
their findings from a participant pool at their university using the Illinois Rape Myth Acceptance
Scale, the Modern and Old Fashion Sexism Scale, and rape scenarios and questions in which they
evaluating participants identification with either the victim or the assailant (12p.242) This study was
not alone in using the Illinois Rape Myth Acceptance Scale as measure. In fact, of the research
reviewed seven other studies utilized the scale in addition to the research done at

Analysis Of Vincent Van Gogh And The Oxbow
I have chosen Romanticism/ Post Impressionism, Olive Trees with yellow sky and sun, by Vincent
Van Gogh; The Oxbow, by Thomas Cole, comparing it to the Spirit Rising, by Christophe Vacher .
In my research / readings of my chosen Artist, I found a lot of information about them that I will
descibe individually. Based on the biography, It has been stated that Vincent was a most well known
post impressionism Artist, for whom color was the chief symbol of expression, he was highly
emotional, lacked self confidence and struggled with his identity and with direction. (Templeton Reid)
In the late 1800 s is when Vincent basically made the decision to become an Artist, in which he
wanted to provide some type of Happiness because he was able to create beauty (Templeton Reid). As
you review the art chosen above by Vincent Van Gogh, you will notice the colors used were dark i.e.
Greens, Oranges, Blues, with splashes of yellow to create the sun, which led me to believe that maybe
this was when he was in the dark place of his life. In the Van Gogh painting, I see big trees with the
nice bright sun shining over the blue water, while looking at the trees it makes me feel safe because of
the openness of the surrounding space, also the brightness of the sun and the coolness of the water
makes me calm and relaxed, it s just something about being in nature that gives me a sense of peace
and direction, nothing to distract or disturb me.

Acetaminophen Chromatography
Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to analyze the following analgesics: acetaminophen,
aspirin, caffeine, and ibuprofen. This analyzes is to be done using thin layer chromatography (TLC).
Also, in this experiment we isolate β carotene from spinach using column chromatography (CC).
Chromatography is a separation technique. It separates a mixture in one state of matter by moving it
through another substance in another state of matter (Woodford, 2016). Chromatography consists of a
compound that does not move in the entire experiment (stationary phase) and another compound that
runs through the stationary phase (mobile phase).
Thin layer chromatography uses a thin sheet of silica gel as the stationary phase. The chromatography
plate is then to be placed vertically inside a chromatography chamber (Thin layer chromatography,
NA). Column chromatography works very similar to TLC, but instead of using a thin layer of silica
gel, in this case we fill a column with this gel (University of Toronto, NA). Finally, we are looking to
calculate the value of Rf for every substance. Rf is defined as the distance travelled by the compound
divided by the distance travelled by the solvent in the TLC experiment (Weldegirma, 2016). ... Show

Criminal Profiling Essay
For many years criminal profiling has been used in crime shows such as CSI, Law Order, and
Criminal Minds. The audience is always on edge and thrilled as to how they accurately and briskly
catch the perpetrator; and get a detailed and heart felt confession at the end of the hour long episode.
However, as we have focused on in this Psychology class, that is not an accurate portrayal of the real
thing. Criminal profiling and forensic science is useful, but can we really say exactly how useful they
are in the real world? In this article review, it focuses on the crime solving tools used in history, the
evolvement of forensic science and the explanation of criminal profiling and its actual use in real life
cases, it is titled The Utilization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

seems as though forensic science, such as fingerprinting or DNA widen the field, but does little to

already in custody. As for criminal profiling, it cannot be treated as an investigative tool according to
this study. It has to be used as an extra that can be utilized to somewhat narrow the scope for
investigators, but not identify the killer. According to this study, the utilization of the public is the

The Butterflies In The Things They Carried
The symbol the butterflies in The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien is significant because it
represents hope and Elysian even though the main idea is to show the emotional and physical burdens
of war. To emphasize the butterflies are mentioned six times throughout the whole book. The first time
they are mentioned even though they were in war it was actually a beautiful place, ravines and gorges
and fast moving rivers and waterfalls and exotic butterflies and steep cliffs. I believe he was saying
even in all this warfare it is still a beautiful place. The second time it was mentioned is the the chapter

Stamps By Maya Angelou Essay
Maya starts explaining how after their parents decided to sent them away after putting and end to their
calamitous marriage (Angelou 5) they arrived to Stamps after travelling alone from California; Maya
realized later that this event was done also by other frightened Black children to their newly affluent
parents in Northern cities or back to grandmothers in Southern towns (6). In Stamps, they met
Momma and Uncle Willie, and they lived in the Store. The process of adaptation took Maya and
Bailey a little bit of time, but finally Stamps, and particularly the Store, was her favorite place to be .
However, the South then becomes a forceful determinant in the locus of Angelou s text. Southern life,
as Angelou demonstrates, is one of harshness and brutality. It is exemplified by the conditions under
which the workers of Stamps lived, the fear engendered by the Ku Klux Klan (whites), the wanton
murder of Black folks, the racial separation of the town, and the innumerable incidents of denigration
which made life in the South an abomination against God and Man. (Afzal 4) In Stamps the
segregation was so complete that most Black children didn t really, absolutely know what whites
looked like. Other than they were different, to be dreaded, and in that dread was included the hostility
of the powerless against the powerful, the poor against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

poor white girls, and where her crippled uncle spends the night in a corn crib to avoid a lynch mob.

Modern Day Society And Creative Industries
Scriptwriters and Their Role in Modern Day Society
What would Hollywood and its producers do without scriptwriters? A person with a camera can only
do so much on their own; without a script there is no story to build a movie up from. Essentially, an
excellent script is the foundation for a brilliant movie. Furthermore, scriptwriting has been an interest
of mine since my seventh grade year in middle school, which was when I was first exposed to drama. I
was not a huge fan of getting up on a stage; however, I greatly enjoyed the writing aspect of the class.
I connected with the idea of telling somebody a story without having to look them directly in the eyes,
and I still feel this way today. Due to this feeling, I sense that I would make a decent scriptwriter.
Carrying on, this paper further examines the substantial role of the scriptwriter in modern day society
and creative industries. According to the National Careers Service, a career search website based in
the United Kingdom, scriptwriters are writers who create screenplays (2015). Constructing characters,
shaping dialogue, and writing an engaging plot are all part of a scriptwriter s profession
(AllAboutCareers Ltd, 2015). As a screenwriter, one might expect to develop their own original ideas
through writing and words to sell to producers. Some producers may even commission a scriptwriter
to create a screenplay based on an idea or true story. Additionally, scriptwriters are often asked to
adapt an existing

The First Letter of Apostle Paul’s to the Corinthians Essay
The first letter of Apostle Paul s to the Corinthians that we have access to is normally known as the
book of love, or the book that gets read at weddings (Powell, 273). But when you get down to the nitty
gritty of this epistle to the Corinthians, Paul is addressing many problems that congregation had and
that churches today face.
Before we get into the actual letter and the occasion and purpose of this letter, I want to review a little
of what we know of Corinth and its culture and history. Corinth was the capital of Achaia (Powell,
275) and it has been estimated that in Paul s day the population of Corinth was about 250,000 free
persons, plus as many as 400,000 slaves (Barker, 1732). There are four things I want to touch on about

The temple dedicated to Aphrodite, the goddess of love, whose worshipers practiced what is known as
religious prostitution, is one of the more infamously known. About a quarter of a mile north of the
theater stood the temple of Asclepius, the god of healing and, in the sixth century BCE, the temple of
Apollo stood in the center of the city. In addition to all of these Grecian temples, the Jews had
established a synagogue; the inscribed lintel of it has been found and is in the museum at old Corinth
today (Barker, 1732). Its immorality: Corinth, like any large commercial city, was a center for much
immorality. The worship of Aphrodite fostered prostitution in the name of religion. At one time there
were 1,000 sacred prostitutes serving her temple (Barker, 1732). So widely did the immorality of
Corinth become known that the Romans would use the expression to act like a Corinthian referring to
engaging in sexual promiscuity (Powell, 278).
With all this in mind, no wonder Paul s first recorded letter to the Corinthians dealt with numerous
problems.
The Intended Audience: In the salutation of 1 Corinthians (1:2), Paul addresses the letter to the church
of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those
everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ their Lord and ours . The converts at

Sex, Sexual, And Sexual Sexuality Essay
Secrets Desires
Our society has socially excepted explicit language as well as sexual undertones as a way of
introducing sex and pornography to our young people and mature adults alike. There are hidden secret
sexual desires simply because we are taught that if our sexual thoughts or desires are different from
others we are strange. Women were taught that they are damaged if they are to engage in watching
pornography or engage in altered sexual desires that are outside of the vanilla spectrum. According to
Concepcion, C. M. (1999) To deny any women any form of sexual expression, including the
enjoyment and production of pornography can stunt sexual development and thereby, stunt the
development of our sexuality, forces women to question our intuition and police our desires .
Men and Women are being sexually inhabitied by the expression of engaging in sexual content such as
pornography by not being able to explore their needs under those circumstances they aren t able to
explore their needs, desires, and sexual needs. The issue might form when women began to think of
sexual freedom as a choice to please partners just to grab satisfaction of something missing from their
lives, allowing them to long for a touch within a conscious and unconscious state of mind. Some
would argue that the behavior would be the result of a missing father or a mother who didn t respond
with proper maternal instinct a child might have needed. There are so many avenues that expand

Personal Narrative-Goose Hunting
H is for Hunting I remember the time my brothers and Sean and I went goose hunting. It was one of
the best times of my life. We woke up early and went out to the field. My brothers and Sean and I got
settled in the blind and loaded our guns. We sat there for awhile and finally we had a group of four
come in. My brother Jake and Sean started to call them in closer. Finally they were close enough for
us to shoot. We shot one out of that group of four. Then we had another group of three come in on the
right side of the blind. We all shot and missed but my brother Tanner had one more shot left and he
shot one. I got out of the blind and got the goose and brought it back to the blind and Sean took the
goose and held it up and said that s probably the biggest goose I ve ever saw before. Then we had a
goose about a hundred yards away and Jake and Sean started calling and it finally started to make its
way to our blind. That goose came right in front of our blind and Tanner and I pulled up out of the
blind and shot it. At the end of that day we shot six geese. The next morning we all woke up and got
dressed and went out to the blind but this morning we went to the bean field because that night it
snowed so there was some snow on the field and Sean told us that geese can eat easier in the bean

Components Of Building A Gaming Pc
My topic of interest this week is learning about a few components involved in building a gaming PC. I
believe this is a great topic for me as my intended professional goal is to become a video game
developer. Where would a professional game developer, like myself, be without a proper gaming PC.
Plus, I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to share my passion. I have owned many
gaming consoles, PC s, and Mac s over the years. If you are a true gamer, you will already know
which platform is the best for you. Gaming consoles like the PS4 or XBOX ONE, while a great source
for gaming entertainment are, cheaper because they do not have a graphics card, instead they have an
APU which is the GPU and CPU combined. (The Geeky Kids ... Show more content on

They also have the lowest number of developed games between all the platforms. So now I m thinking
why can t I have both a iMac and gaming PC? Well, after doing some research, I think having both
might actually be a strong possibility for me. Now getting into the main portion of my topic why PC is
the best for gaming. First off, PC s use only a GPU, allowing this item to be upgraded while
advancements in technology take place. This, in turn, allows a PC to have full access to incredible
graphics, giving the gamer a higher level gaming experience. There are three primary components that
are the foundations to building a great PC, they are the central processing unit (CPU), also called a
processor, the video card and memory (RAM). (Bellerophon08, 2013) You will find many different
brands and styles, such as an AMD FX 8350 AM3+ 4.0Ghz (CPU) or a Kingston HyperX blu
1600mhz 2x4GB (RAM). They all depend on what suits your individual needs and budget. One of the
most exiting components I get to talk about, is the motherboard. Just like its title this is what brings all
the components together in harmony. One interesting fact I didn t know, but was crucial to the proper
function of a PC, is a motherboard socket type. Seeing as they are not interchangeable, you need to
make sure you know what CPU you are investing in, as you are unable to mix and match a
motherboard and CPU brand. For example, if you

Ombudsman s Contribution to the Task of Ensuring that Government Decision Making is Conducted
in a Defensible Way
The Parliamentary Commissioner for Adminstration (PCA) was set up under the Parliamentary
Commissioner Act 1967 as a result of the Crichel Down affair in 1954. It was thought that pre existing
judicial and parliamentary remedies did not provide adequate redress for members of the public who
suffered as a result of maladministration in central government. No action was being taken towards
defective administrative workings, either because it fell outside the jurisdiction of the courts or
because MPs did not have sufficient powers to investigate it satisfactorily.
The Ombudsman stands as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These include extradition and fugitive offenders, the investigation of crime by or on behalf of the
Home Office, security of the States, action in matters relating to contractual or commercial activities,
court proceedings and personnal matters of armed forces, teachers, the Civil Service or police. The
government has always resisted the extension of the Ombudsman system into these areas.
Furthermore, Schedule 2 does not include public corporations, tribunals, the Criminal Injuries
Compensation Board or, crucially, the police.
A further important limitation, the system of making the complaint through a Member of Parliament,
has been much criticised: it is thought that this screening of complaints does not serve the best
interests of complainant. This is where direct access to the ombudsman is denied and the MP is made
to be the middleman. The involvement of MPs in the process may mean an inadequate working
system since MPs do not possess the power to investigate in great detail as to scrutinise the matter at
hand to its depths.
Another problem that is seen within the role of PCA is also due to the lack of power to award remedy.
However, the fact that the PCA operates informally and privately has been thought to enhance his
powers of persuasion. A good example is that of the Ostler case (1977), where the Department of

The Importance Of Sovereignty In Canada
How is the arctic important to Canada and what does this entail? The north contains multiple
resources that are only continuing to grow with the melting of the northwest passage. With this
opening can this be used as an economic adventure in Canada, like the Suez Canal. Or, does the
opening of the passage turn this into a dispute of sovereignty between states? Canadians are known
around the world for being polite, apologetic and of course they re known as, We The North. Canada
has the second largest land mass in the world, at almost ten million kilometers squared, where three
and a half million kilometers, are that of the north(1). There is a wide variety of resources that any of

For that, what must be done by Canada to keep their sovereignty over their land, and not have other
states intrude and take the north as their own. If sovereignty is up for grabs, it needs to be discussed,
what is sovereignty, and how does a state have complete sovereignty over itself. Sovereignty is
defined as the supremacy of authority exercised by a state over its population and its territory. (4)
However, this can be done in many ways, and Canada is dealing with this in three different teirs
within the north. Canada will continue to have the north inhabited and have employment for those
living there. Secondly, it will endorse the north as a tourist area, for those of other countries to visit
and enjoy the natural beauties that are held there. Lastly, it will deploy its military in multiple ways.
The military will be used to hold operations within the northern territories, employ rangers
throughout, conduct fly past using the Air Force, and maintain bases at its most northern point on a
continual basis.

Tenor Sax Analysis
The tenor sax features 24 keys.
Having to learn all of the fingerings on the tenor sax may seem to be an insurmountable task;
however, with the proper practice technique and the right fingering chart, you can learn the fingerings
and improve your skill. There are five ranges the saxophonist must memorize to become competent.
Learn each of these ranges by practicing major and minor scales each day along with a fingering chart.
First Octave
The first octave tenor sax fingerings are most often used in music. They range from the written A
below middle C to the C sharp an octave above middle C. To play the lowest note, hold down the first
three main keys of the left hand and the first three main keys of the right hand in addition to the low C

Using scientific pitch notation, middle C appears as C4. Each C above or below that gains or loses a
number. In this case, the second octave begins on D5 and extends to F6. To play the notes in this
range, you will need to use the left thumb or octave key. It is located at the top of the instrument on
the side. The first note uses the left thumb key, the first three main left keys and the first three main
right keys.
Lower Altissimo
The first note above the second octave is F sharp 6. This note may be played most easily use the
octave key along with the first and third left main keys and the first main right key. You may find that
you have to depress the lower Eb key as well if it is out of tune on your saxophone. The range of the
lower altissimo is a minor third and stretches from F sharp 6 to A6. Using the tenor saxophone
fingering chart, you should experiment to see what key combinations sound best.
Middle Altissimo
The middle altissimo range starts with A sharp 6 and ends on C sharp 7. The fingering for A sharp 6 is
less straightforward than the other fingerings. It requires the use of the octave key, the third key of the
left hand and the right hand C side key. The C side key is located in the middle of the set of three
smaller keys. Practice scales that extend into the altissimo register to learn your fingerings; scales help
to memorize the pattern of

Mexico American Conquest
The conquest of Mexico is nonetheless one of the most significant turning points in history. It
discovery was dominated with riches, expansion of ideas and new proclaimed land. Although not
initially intending to sail sea in search of new land, conquest, rapidly became a focus, when the
Americas was discovered. With an extreme difference in language, culture, etc., conquering the
Americas would not have been successful without three factors being present; superior technology,
immunity of carried diseases, and help form the Native People. To begin with, disease carried by the

Native allies contributed by unifying with the Spaniards during battles and some serving as
messengers/translators. Notably, it was Natives who had been subdued by overlords, who joined as
Spanish allies. During the last battles, Cortes himself noted... 75,000 indigenous allies supporting the
Spanish units, and Bernal Diaz mentioned 100,000 indigenous allies in engagements (Schwartz 2000,

addition, Natives also served as translators. understanding the importance of communication during
encounters, Diaz used messengers/ translators to communicate with the Indians (Schwartz 2000, 41).
These translators helped communicate knowledge held by the Indians about land features and possible
riches. Dona Mariana in particular was a valuable source during the conquest. She accompanied Diaz

well respected among Indians, she was an influential asset. Without her help, they would not be able

positions and occupations will gradually disappear. For example, craftsmen in the traditional
manufacturing industry were replaced by line workers, or computer literate personal assistants

The Neo-Assyrian Empire
The Assyrians were very successful as empire builders. Although the Sea People destroyed their
domain a couple of times, the Assyrians still managed to revive creating the Neo Assyrian Empire, in
which their realm expanded especially in the Middle East and took control over Egypt. During the
Neo Assyrian Empire, the Assyrians were able to master the skill at using chariots and the proficiency
of iron smelting. They developed iron weapons and the first true cavalry force that gave them a huge
advantage over their neighbors who still used copper and tin weapons. Consequently, the Assyrians
became an unrivaled power over the ancient Near East and began exploring artworks and ways they
could adorn their cities. The Assyrians were also famous for building great roads that allowed them to
move quickly from place to place. Likewise, they built amazing cities with fortified walls, canals, ...

Persian ruler had allowed the Jews to build the Second Temple in Jerusalem and worship as they

Persians were able to counterattack and defeat Croesus forces. Yet, Cyrus kept Croesus as an advisor

Vivaldi, Monteverdi, Pachelbel, And Handel
There are three big periods of music. Theses periods are Baroque, Classical, and Romantic. In these
periods there where several different composers who helped shape that period. Here are but a few in
each of the period. In the Baroque period some composers are Vivaldi, Monteverdi, Pachelbel, and
Handel. There of course are many more as these are just four composers. First, Vivaldi his full name is
Antonio Lucio Vivaldi. Vivaldi was born in 1678 and grew to be an Italian violinist and a composer.
He was born with angina pectoris or chest pain due heart disease of his heart not gaining enough
oxygen, he was also born with asthma. Due to these conditions he was known for running out of
church, but he was also known to run out due to a composition idea he would have. Once Vivaldi
started to work he worked in a place called Ospedal Della Pieta where he would teach women to play
the violin. This place would later be known as an orphanage since noble men would drop off the
female children that they would have with their mistresses and leave them there. The fathers of these
girls helped pay the orphanage as hush money to keep the knowledge silent. Vivaldi was known to
work here for several years on and off before he died in 1741 at the age of sixty three years old. Now
another composer was Pachelbel. He was a German composer fully named Johann Christoph
Pachelbel. His exact birthday is unknown, but he was born in the year 1653. Pachelbel wrote mainly

Comparing The Differences Between The Outsiders, By...
The outsiders The movie The Outsiders was produced in 1983 by director Francis Ford Coppola, the
book came out in 1967 published by S. E. Hinton. It is found under young adult fiction and crime
film/ teen film. This book is about to rival gangs the greasers and the sos. The greasers are a group of
lower class boys who come from bad homes. They rely on only each other for support and friendship.
On the other hand, the sos are a group of upper class kids who get everything they want they don t
really ever hear the word no. They own nice things and come from nice fancy houses with nice cars
and lots of money. The book is very different from the movie because certain scenes are cut out and
some scenes and words exchanged between characters are altered. The first difference between the
movie and the book is in the movie Darry pushed Ponyboy during an argument about why Ponyboy
got home so late. In the book, after Ponyboy returns home late Darry is furious and slaps Ponyboy,
Ponyboy runs and finds Johnny in hopes of running away. But in the movie Darry pushes Ponyboy
instead of slapping him, Ponyboy was already tired of how Darry picks on him all the time. So when
Darry pushes him it sets him over the edge. This was an effective change because in the movie when
the couch fell and it made the audience more mad at Darry. In the book that never happened so it wasn
t as dramatic and entertaining. Therefore the push was much more significant than the slap. The

It was caused by King Louis XVI considering the people wanted Liberty, Sovereignty, and equality.
Since the people wanted those thing King Louis was forced to share his power. The Reign of Terror

Due to the Reign of Terror, France rid itself of Monarchy and traits to France. On February 5, 1794

Cultural Beliefs Of The Afterlife
Every culture has their own set of beliefs when it comes to the afterlife, what happens to our soul,
morality, fate, and also share their own version of punishment and reward. Some cultures believe there
s a life after death while others do not. For instance, the Egyptian culture do believe in an afterlife. In
fact, their culture is so deeply rooted in this that they form their whole lives around and spend their
entire lives preparing for their death and afterlife. Egyptians believe the life you have on Earth will be
the same in your afterlife. Their concept of an afterlife was a mirror world of one s life on earth. Well,
it was specifically one s life in Egypt. Therefore, one was expected to live that life well if one hoped to
enjoy the rest of one s eternal journey. The Egyptians also believed the soul left its physical body to
journey off into the afterlife. However, they believed you needed your entire body to remain intact and
pure in order to have a chance at living in paradise after this realm. So, if your arm was missing at the
time of your burial, according to their beliefs you could not transcend into the next life. You d be left
in limbo. This is why their embalming rituals were created. These rituals were created to make a body
pure to be able to transcend into the next life. Speaking of purity, the ancient Egyptians had a code of
morals and ethics which was known as Ma at. It was the ethical conceptions of truth , order and

presenting an issue in order to spark opinion forming thoughts. The articles all share a common thread

The goals of all these articles seems to be getting the general public interested in the education of our
youth to help them achieve more in life. Each article presents the problem and follows the steps to
develop a solution. These possible solutions serve as the final agenda that The Houston Chronicle
hopes the reader will think about and develop an opinion of.
As the general public reads these articles there are three primary outcomes that they could have:
support, disinterest, or opposition. In Fikac s article covering Davis plan for increased education
spending we see the two extreme points of view. Davis with the support of the Democrat party
supports increased incentives for qualified students to enter the field of education along with increased
pay to teachers who are getting the desired results all while hopefully not increasing the current tax
rate. The Republicans argue that Davis math makes little sense and that it is not possible to spend
more without increasing taxes. (Fikac, 2014) When the public reads this article the media will have
fulfilled their goal of getting the audience to think about the subject. The outcome will be dependent
upon the reader s views and expectations of the government in regards to education. The outcome is
also dependent on the reader s lifestyle. A person with multiple school age children will be more prone

Abortion And Its Effects On The United States Essay
In the United States 1.7% of women aged 15 44 have an abortion ( Induced Abortion in the United
States ). Twenty one percent of all pregnancies end in abortion ( Induced Abortion in the United States
). Women most commonly have abortions before the end of her first trimester, twelve weeks into the
pregnancy, however, abortions may also be performed after the first trimester. Abortions are quite
common, but they also lead to numerous issues for the parents such as regret, depression, drug abuse
and even suicide. The parent s choice of abortion has lasting physical and psychological effects on the
parents of the aborted child, even years after the abortion process.
The abortion process has changed in numerous ways during the last two centuries. Abortion was once
illegal, then it changed to be legal. Throughout the process of legalization, it changed in many ways.
In 1821, the state of Connecticut passed a law that banned the use of a liquid, after the fourth month
that would induce a miscarriage of the child ( Timeline of Abortion Laws and Events ). The liquid had
been used for several years simply to terminate the baby, without causing much pain to the mother.
Later on in the 19th century, supplementary efforts were taken to prevent women from being able to
abort their child. By the year of 1856, groups of pro life supporters gathered together with the leader
Dr. Horatio Storer, a pro life supporter, to establish a national drive to prevent women from abortion (

Bruce And Young Case Study
The author of this essay will describe Bruce and Young s theory on Information Processing (1986) and
Burton, Bruce and Johnston s (1990) Cognitive Science. The author will also apply both models to the
case studies; they all look alike to me and Prosopagnosia and decide which model is most suitable to
explain each case study, as well as provide empirical evidence.
Bruce and Young s (1986) model is used to understand how an individual recognizes familiar faces,
and the relationship between recognition and other elements of face processing. Bruce and Young
(1986) proposed that there are seven types of information that we derive from seen faces; pictorial,
structural, visually derived semantic, identity specific semantic, name, expression and facial speech
codes.
The model suggested entails how structural encoding processes provide descriptions for the analysis
of facial speech, expression and face recognition units. Recognising familiar faces involves matching
the products of structural encoding and previously stored codes ... Show more content on

The model is also used to compare and contrast the recognition of people s faces with the recognition
of other types of visual stimuli, and to explore ways in which mechanisms involved in human facial
recognition relate to other types of face processing such as facial movements.
The process begins with encoding the external features of a person s face; this is known as structural
encoding. This process involves two elements of recognition, familiar and unfamiliar faces. When an
individual s face is familiar, there is sufficient information to match the structurally encoded
information and the Facial Recognition Unit (FRU) to activate the FRU. Thereafter, the FRU activates
the biographical information and in turn, triggers name recall (Bruce Young,

I Chose The Constellation Of Pisces
I chose the constellation of Pisces. This is because it is my Zodiac sign and I wanted to learn more
about it. The Pisces constellation is found in the Northern Hemisphere and was introduced in the 2nd
Century by Ptolemy, a Greek astronomer. It is usually portrayed as two fish, connected at the tails by
string, swimming in opposite directions.
The myth surrounding the Pisces constellation can be found in Greek mythology. According to the
myth, the constellation can be associated to the goddess Aphrodite and her son Eros. One version of
the story said that they themselves transformed while fleeing from Typhon. Another story would say
that two fish, which was placed in the sky, were the ones that carried Aphrodite and Eros away from
harms way.
If I were to create a myth about the constellation, I would do it with different circumstances. Ares has
always been an embodiment of everything male. Physically, he was perfect with a statuesque
physique, a blinding smile that would make your heart melt, sea blue eyes that seemed to have the
ability to pierce into your soul and dig up your very essence. He also had a double charm to him, one
side would reveal him to be a golden boy, very heroic and kind, yet he always had a hidden twinkle in

The Sistine Chapel Essay
Michelangelo s work in the Sistine Chapel is one of the greatest pieces of fresco work in the Italian
Renaissance. Every year millions of people travel to the Vatican to see this impressive work . Not only
is the Sistine Chapel an attraction for art lovers, but for Christians the Sistine Chapel is considered one
of the holiest chapels in our world today . However, the Sistine Chapel like any other works of art was
designed to send a message to its viewers. Like most art commissioned by the Catholic Church, the
Sistine Chapel was intended to elevate the standing of the church and to inspire church goers in their
faith. However, the creation of the Sistine Chapel frescos is not as simplistic as those who

Although his actions were not beneficial to everyone, Pope Sixtus spent a vast amount of money
rebuilding the Vatican. He rebuilt bridges, streets, churches, and he founded the Vatican library. One of
his projects included the expansion of the Palatine Chapel which would be later referred to as the
Sistine Chapel. Pope Sixtus commissioned Florentine architect Bartelomeo Baccio Pontelli to rebuild
the chapel. Pontelli was known for his ability to reconstruct and fortify building structures, which was
pivotal to rebuilding of the dilapidated Palatine Chapel. The building plans for the chapel required it to
be built on a larger scale than most chapels during that time period, and to have fortress on the top
level of the chapel to serve as security for the Vatican. The actual layout of the chapel was a copy of
the Jewish Holy Temple. It is still a mystery how that occurred, but many researchers speculate that
Pope Sixtus requested that the temple build a church similar to the Jewish Holy Temple. The reasoning
behind the layout of the temple has to do with a religious doctrine known as successionism, which is
the belief that one religion can take the place of another. Researchers believe that Pope Sixtus
designed the temple to illustrate to the world that the Catholic Church was the true church and that
Judaism was not. Having a new Holy Temple meant that Rome was now the New Jerusalem, and the
capital of the Christian world. Pope Sixtus arranged

  • 2. The Prospect Of Human Genetic Engineering Rafi Ebne Rafi Dr. McKinnis ENG 201 April 8th, 2015 On the Prospect of Human Genetic Engineering In the year of 2013 roughly 7.6 million people died of cancer, 1.5 million people died of AIDS, and another 70,000 of Cystic Fibrosis ( World Cancer Day ; CF Foundation ). What do all these diseases have in common? Modern medicine has no guaranteed way of curing them. The fact of the matter is that we as a society don t know much about these, and some other life threatening diseases. As a result, more years of research need to be undergone in order develop unique drugs that may cure these, and other complex diseases . How long do you suppose it will take for a drug to come forth? Five, ten, thirty years? What if it doesn t even exist? How many people do you suppose will die in the meantime? Now my point is not to make one think that there is no method to curing diseases similar to those previously mentioned. As a matter of fact, my point is to shine light upon a promising method that has been showing results: genetic engineering. With the advancements of science, genetic engineering is becoming a more and more developed procedure that has already saved the lives of those terminally ill. But where one problem is solved, another arises. With the ever growing social prominence of genetic engineering, ethical concerns are reaching a frenzied state. Many are weary of playing God, and the idea of changing one s genetic makeup seems morally unjust. They see genetic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No matter how hard we work with the child in the clinic, if there is going to be real and lasting improvement it needs to be generalized into the child s other settings. We try to involve parents in process and offer training through parent workshops that take place every few months and one on one parent trainings at the clinic. If the pyramidal train the trainer procedure is an effective method for training the child s caregivers it could play a large role in our parent training process. If we can effectively train all the primary caregivers in the life of the child, then it is more likely that the treatment plan will be generalized to the child s other settings. • 5. My Views On Educational Psychology Educational Psychology has really opened my eyes and encouraged me to think about who I am and what kind of teacher I would like to be. In this class we have delved deep into ourselves with different self assessments, which have lead to a better understanding of our strengths and weaknesses. Getting to know myself so thoroughly allowed me to realize how dynamic each one of my students will be and how my teaching style will need to be just as dynamic. Then, learning about the different philosophies of education helped me grasp how to formulate my own teaching philosophy. Last but not least, participating in the Junior Achievement program allowed me to get a taste of actually being in the classroom and gave me the opportunity to test out my own philosophy temporarily. Overall, understanding my personalities, learning about different educational philosophies and seeing how they work in the classroom has showed me how to be a teacher that makes a difference in the lives of my students. Throughout this semester, I really enjoyed taking multiple self assessments to understand my own personality, but I think the Types of Intelligence Assessment and the Educational Philosophies Assessment were the most helpful. First, the Intelligence Assessment allowed me to connect my way of thinking and the subjects I do well in with a type of intelligence. In my case, I scored higher in Logical and Mathematical Thinking and in Insightful Skills for Analyzing Others, which makes sense because I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Vincent Van Gogh And The Oxbow I have chosen Romanticism/ Post Impressionism, Olive Trees with yellow sky and sun, by Vincent Van Gogh; The Oxbow, by Thomas Cole, comparing it to the Spirit Rising, by Christophe Vacher . In my research / readings of my chosen Artist, I found a lot of information about them that I will descibe individually. Based on the biography, It has been stated that Vincent was a most well known post impressionism Artist, for whom color was the chief symbol of expression, he was highly emotional, lacked self confidence and struggled with his identity and with direction. (Templeton Reid) In the late 1800 s is when Vincent basically made the decision to become an Artist, in which he wanted to provide some type of Happiness because he was able to create beauty (Templeton Reid). As you review the art chosen above by Vincent Van Gogh, you will notice the colors used were dark i.e. Greens, Oranges, Blues, with splashes of yellow to create the sun, which led me to believe that maybe this was when he was in the dark place of his life. In the Van Gogh painting, I see big trees with the nice bright sun shining over the blue water, while looking at the trees it makes me feel safe because of the openness of the surrounding space, also the brightness of the sun and the coolness of the water makes me calm and relaxed, it s just something about being in nature that gives me a sense of peace and direction, nothing to distract or disturb me. • 9. Acetaminophen Chromatography Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to analyze the following analgesics: acetaminophen, aspirin, caffeine, and ibuprofen. This analyzes is to be done using thin layer chromatography (TLC). Also, in this experiment we isolate β carotene from spinach using column chromatography (CC). Chromatography is a separation technique. It separates a mixture in one state of matter by moving it through another substance in another state of matter (Woodford, 2016). Chromatography consists of a compound that does not move in the entire experiment (stationary phase) and another compound that runs through the stationary phase (mobile phase). Thin layer chromatography uses a thin sheet of silica gel as the stationary phase. The chromatography plate is then to be placed vertically inside a chromatography chamber (Thin layer chromatography, NA). Column chromatography works very similar to TLC, but instead of using a thin layer of silica gel, in this case we fill a column with this gel (University of Toronto, NA). Finally, we are looking to calculate the value of Rf for every substance. Rf is defined as the distance travelled by the compound divided by the distance travelled by the solvent in the TLC experiment (Weldegirma, 2016). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stamps By Maya Angelou Essay Maya starts explaining how after their parents decided to sent them away after putting and end to their calamitous marriage (Angelou 5) they arrived to Stamps after travelling alone from California; Maya realized later that this event was done also by other frightened Black children to their newly affluent parents in Northern cities or back to grandmothers in Southern towns (6). In Stamps, they met Momma and Uncle Willie, and they lived in the Store. The process of adaptation took Maya and Bailey a little bit of time, but finally Stamps, and particularly the Store, was her favorite place to be . However, the South then becomes a forceful determinant in the locus of Angelou s text. Southern life, as Angelou demonstrates, is one of harshness and brutality. It is exemplified by the conditions under which the workers of Stamps lived, the fear engendered by the Ku Klux Klan (whites), the wanton murder of Black folks, the racial separation of the town, and the innumerable incidents of denigration which made life in the South an abomination against God and Man. A person with a camera can only do so much on their own; without a script there is no story to build a movie up from. Essentially, an excellent script is the foundation for a brilliant movie. Furthermore, scriptwriting has been an interest of mine since my seventh grade year in middle school, which was when I was first exposed to drama. I was not a huge fan of getting up on a stage; however, I greatly enjoyed the writing aspect of the class. I connected with the idea of telling somebody a story without having to look them directly in the eyes, and I still feel this way today. Due to this feeling, I sense that I would make a decent scriptwriter. Carrying on, this paper further examines the substantial role of the scriptwriter in modern day society and creative industries. According to the National Careers Service, a career search website based in the United Kingdom, scriptwriters are writers who create screenplays (2015). Constructing characters, shaping dialogue, and writing an engaging plot are all part of a scriptwriter s profession (AllAboutCareers Ltd, 2015). The temple dedicated to Aphrodite, the goddess of love, whose worshipers practiced what is known as religious prostitution, is one of the more infamously known. About a quarter of a mile north of the theater stood the temple of Asclepius, the god of healing and, in the sixth century BCE, the temple of Apollo stood in the center of the city. In addition to all of these Grecian temples, the Jews had established a synagogue; the inscribed lintel of it has been found and is in the museum at old Corinth today (Barker, 1732). Its immorality: Corinth, like any large commercial city, was a center for much immorality. The worship of Aphrodite fostered prostitution in the name of religion. At one time there were 1,000 sacred prostitutes serving her temple (Barker, 1732). So widely did the immorality of Corinth become known that the Romans would use the expression to act like a Corinthian referring to engaging in sexual promiscuity (Powell, 278). With all this in mind, no wonder Paul s first recorded letter to the Corinthians dealt with numerous problems. Women were taught that they are damaged if they are to engage in watching pornography or engage in altered sexual desires that are outside of the vanilla spectrum. According to Concepcion, C. M. (1999) To deny any women any form of sexual expression, including the enjoyment and production of pornography can stunt sexual development and thereby, stunt the development of our sexuality, forces women to question our intuition and police our desires . Men and Women are being sexually inhabitied by the expression of engaging in sexual content such as pornography by not being able to explore their needs under those circumstances they aren t able to explore their needs, desires, and sexual needs. The issue might form when women began to think of sexual freedom as a choice to please partners just to grab satisfaction of something missing from their lives, allowing them to long for a touch within a conscious and unconscious state of mind. I believe this is a great topic for me as my intended professional goal is to become a video game developer. Where would a professional game developer, like myself, be without a proper gaming PC. Plus, I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to share my passion. I have owned many gaming consoles, PC s, and Mac s over the years. If you are a true gamer, you will already know which platform is the best for you. Now getting into the main portion of my topic why PC is the best for gaming. First off, PC s use only a GPU, allowing this item to be upgraded while advancements in technology take place. This, in turn, allows a PC to have full access to incredible graphics, giving the gamer a higher level gaming experience. There are three primary components that are the foundations to building a great PC, they are the central processing unit (CPU), also called a processor, the video card and memory (RAM). (Bellerophon08, 2013) You will find many different brands and styles, such as an AMD FX 8350 AM3+ 4.0Ghz (CPU) or a Kingston HyperX blu 1600mhz 2x4GB (RAM). They all depend on what suits your individual needs and budget. One of the most exiting components I get to talk about, is the motherboard. Just like its title this is what brings all the components together in harmony. One interesting fact I didn t know, but was crucial to the proper function of a PC, is a motherboard socket type. Seeing as they are not interchangeable, you need to make sure you know what CPU you are investing in, as you are unable to mix and match a motherboard and CPU brand. For example, if you ... Ombudsman s Contribution to the Task of Ensuring that Government Decision Making is Conducted in a Defensible Way The Parliamentary Commissioner for Adminstration (PCA) was set up under the Parliamentary Commissioner Act 1967 as a result of the Crichel Down affair in 1954. It was thought that pre existing judicial and parliamentary remedies did not provide adequate redress for members of the public who suffered as a result of maladministration in central government. Furthermore, Schedule 2 does not include public corporations, tribunals, the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board or, crucially, the police. A further important limitation, the system of making the complaint through a Member of Parliament, has been much criticised: it is thought that this screening of complaints does not serve the best interests of complainant. This is where direct access to the ombudsman is denied and the MP is made to be the middleman. The involvement of MPs in the process may mean an inadequate working system since MPs do not possess the power to investigate in great detail as to scrutinise the matter at hand to its depths. Another problem that is seen within the role of PCA is also due to the lack of power to award remedy. Like Darwin s theory of survival of the fittest, work is changing with social needs (Mayr, 1994). Many positions and occupations will gradually disappear. For example, craftsmen in the traditional manufacturing industry were replaced by line workers, or computer literate personal assistants replaced secretaries who only used paper and typewriters. According to the research data: since World War II, after Industrial Development, the rate of labor participation has been declining in the United States and other industrialized countries (Hughes, 2014). Snyder (2013) reckons that in the next 20 years, half of the work will now be replaced by robots. In the near future, artificial intelligence technology will learn to control such as unmanned vehicles and robots of this kind of semi independent and independent hardware facilities, gradually replace the factory workers, construction workers, drivers, express and many other occupations. However, at the same time, education, health care, tourism and other services will generate huge demand for services. Those positions can absorb the labor force replaced by AI (Levy Murnane, 2012). In other words, the wider use of AI will stimulate the development of new careers. Artificial intelligence will bring a massive change in the type and proportion of existing jobs and employment. Although the Sea People destroyed their domain a couple of times, the Assyrians still managed to revive creating the Neo Assyrian Empire, in which their realm expanded especially in the Middle East and took control over Egypt. During the Neo Assyrian Empire, the Assyrians were able to master the skill at using chariots and the proficiency of iron smelting. They developed iron weapons and the first true cavalry force that gave them a huge advantage over their neighbors who still used copper and tin weapons. Consequently, the Assyrians became an unrivaled power over the ancient Near East and began exploring artworks and ways they could adorn their cities. He was born with angina pectoris or chest pain due heart disease of his heart not gaining enough oxygen, he was also born with asthma. Due to these conditions he was known for running out of church, but he was also known to run out due to a composition idea he would have. Once Vivaldi started to work he worked in a place called Ospedal Della Pieta where he would teach women to play the violin. This place would later be known as an orphanage since noble men would drop off the female children that they would have with their mistresses and leave them there. The fathers of these girls helped pay the orphanage as hush money to keep the knowledge silent. Vivaldi was known to work here for several years on and off before he died in 1741 at the age of sixty three years old. Now another composer was Pachelbel. He was a German composer fully named Johann Christoph Pachelbel. His exact birthday is unknown, but he was born in the year 1653. Pachelbel wrote mainly for church and for his ... E. Hinton. It is found under young adult fiction and crime film/ teen film. This book is about to rival gangs the greasers and the sos. The greasers are a group of lower class boys who come from bad homes. They rely on only each other for support and friendship. On the other hand, the sos are a group of upper class kids who get everything they want they don t really ever hear the word no. They own nice things and come from nice fancy houses with nice cars and lots of money. The book is very different from the movie because certain scenes are cut out and some scenes and words exchanged between characters are altered. The first difference between the movie and the book is in the movie Darry pushed Ponyboy during an argument about why Ponyboy got home so late. In the book, after Ponyboy returns home late Darry is furious and slaps Ponyboy, Ponyboy runs and finds Johnny in hopes of running away. But in the movie Darry pushes Ponyboy instead of slapping him, Ponyboy was already tired of how Darry picks on him all the time. So when Darry pushes him it sets him over the edge. This was an effective change because in the movie when the couch fell and it made the audience more mad at Darry. In the book that never happened so it wasn t as dramatic and entertaining. Some cultures believe there s a life after death while others do not. For instance, the Egyptian culture do believe in an afterlife. In fact, their culture is so deeply rooted in this that they form their whole lives around and spend their entire lives preparing for their death and afterlife. Egyptians believe the life you have on Earth will be the same in your afterlife. Their concept of an afterlife was a mirror world of one s life on earth. The Egyptians also believed the soul left its physical body to journey off into the afterlife. However, they believed you needed your entire body to remain intact and pure in order to have a chance at living in paradise after this realm. So, if your arm was missing at the time of your burial, according to their beliefs you could not transcend into the next life. You d be left in limbo. Women most commonly have abortions before the end of her first trimester, twelve weeks into the pregnancy, however, abortions may also be performed after the first trimester. Abortions are quite common, but they also lead to numerous issues for the parents such as regret, depression, drug abuse and even suicide. The parent s choice of abortion has lasting physical and psychological effects on the parents of the aborted child, even years after the abortion process. The abortion process has changed in numerous ways during the last two centuries. Abortion was once illegal, then it changed to be legal. The author will also apply both models to the case studies; they all look alike to me and Prosopagnosia and decide which model is most suitable to explain each case study, as well as provide empirical evidence. Bruce and Young s (1986) model is used to understand how an individual recognizes familiar faces, and the relationship between recognition and other elements of face processing. Bruce and Young (1986) proposed that there are seven types of information that we derive from seen faces; pictorial, structural, visually derived semantic, identity specific semantic, name, expression and facial speech codes. The model suggested entails how structural encoding processes provide descriptions for the analysis of facial speech, expression and face recognition units. The Pisces constellation is found in the Northern Hemisphere and was introduced in the 2nd Century by Ptolemy, a Greek astronomer. It is usually portrayed as two fish, connected at the tails by string, swimming in opposite directions. The myth surrounding the Pisces constellation can be found in Greek mythology. According to the myth, the constellation can be associated to the goddess Aphrodite and her son Eros. One version of the story said that they themselves transformed while fleeing from Typhon. Although his actions were not beneficial to everyone, Pope Sixtus spent a vast amount of money rebuilding the Vatican. He rebuilt bridges, streets, churches, and he founded the Vatican library. One of his projects included the expansion of the Palatine Chapel which would be later referred to as the Sistine Chapel. Pope Sixtus commissioned Florentine architect Bartelomeo Baccio Pontelli to rebuild the chapel. Pontelli was known for his ability to reconstruct and fortify building structures, which was pivotal to rebuilding of the dilapidated Palatine Chapel. The building plans for the chapel required it to be built on a larger scale than most chapels during that time period, and to have fortress on the top level of the chapel to serve as security for the Vatican. The actual layout of the chapel was a copy of the Jewish Holy Temple. It is still a mystery how that occurred, but many researchers speculate that Pope Sixtus requested that the temple build a church similar to the Jewish Holy Temple. The reasoning behind the layout of the temple has to do with a religious doctrine known as successionism, which is the belief that one religion can take the place of another. Researchers believe that Pope Sixtus designed the temple to illustrate to the world that the Catholic Church was the true church and that Judaism was not.
