Should Ionizing Radiation Be Used In Medical Diagnosis
INTRODUCTION
Radiation procedures used to diagnose medical conditions over the past century have grown from a
scientific curiosity to a pervasive, essential part of modern health care. Radiology originated with
ionizing radiation to diagnose human disease, however since discovering the physiological risks
associated with ionizing radiation, such as mutation/cancer, an ongoing controversy arises as to
whether ionizing radiation should be used in medical diagnosis. This investigation will analyze each
end of the argument continuum to determine if ionizing radiation should continue to be used in
medical diagnosis.
BACKGROUND PHYSICS
Ionizing radiation is any type of particle (neutrons, betas or alphas) or electromagnetic wave (gamma
rays, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are different types of ionizing radiation, including gamma rays and x rays, which have been
known to cause cancer. Additionally, because x rays can kill living cells, when improperly used they
can cause severe burns, cancer, leukemia, and cataracts. They can speed aging, reduce immunity to
disease, and bring about disastrous changes in the reproductive cells.
Having few procedures employing ionizing radiation throughout your life may seem harmless, but as
the levels of doses increase, your risk of developing cancer rises at the same rate, according to the
LNT model. Figure 4 below exhibits potential medical consequences of certain periods of exposure to
ionizing radiation:
CONCLUSION
Given the evidence, it can be concluded that while there are risks that arise with ionizing radiation in
medical diagnosis, overall the benefits outweigh the risks, as doctors are able to diagnose various
health concerns that would go undetected otherwise. That being said, ionizing radiation should
continue to be used in medical diagnosis as they provide valuable medical procedures that can
ultimately save

Banana Trade War Between The European Union And The United...
Introduction
In this paper, I will summarize the banana trade war between the European Union and the United
States. I will examine the information, explain the argument, and explain the affects this banana war
has had on economies and laborers. I will also investigate Chiquita s role, the US s retaliation,
examine the rules and regulations of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and explain their role in the
dispute. Lastly, I will provide my assessment of the dispute and how I would resolve it acting as a
representative of the WTO. This paper is outlined to answer each task to ensure evidence is provided
to support my findings regarding the banana trade war.
Should the European Union be forced to end this connection with its old colonies, as the United States
have requested, and buy its bananas from other countries as well?
Yes, just as prominent and successful as the European Union s (EU s) stance has been on this industry,
it can all be dismantled and have greater and more far reaching consequences if they do not have to
buy bananas from other countries as well.
The financial stability of the EU, US, multinational companies, and its laborers can be drastically
impacted. The livelihood, jobs and industries, can impact economies. If these other smaller countries
are not taken care of their economies could collapse or they could resort to illegal drug industries,
illegal immigration, and even drug trafficking which causes more harm than good.

New-Hire Onboarding and Information Security Essay
New employees, full time or non employee contractors, present a number of risks in regards to
information security. These risks can be mitigated with well designed and thorough interview and
onboarding processes. An organization s human resources department must have guidelines in place
for interviewers and hiring managers to follow to allow for high risk potential candidates to be filtered
out prior to hiring. The importance of information security as part of the hiring process is so
important; the PCI Security Council has implemented a section in hits reference guide to maintain PCI
compliance. PCI DSS Section 12.7 states, Screen employees prior to hire to minimize the risk of
attacks from internal sources (PCI Quick Reference Guide, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Employees and non employee contract workers must all be vetted to ensure they do not pose threats to
the organization s physical and information assets. It is up to the organization to determine what levels
of access or levels of restriction should be in place on employees and contractors post hire. These
levels should be identified prior to the hiring process to drive how thorough the candidate screening
should be. The amount of background checks and reference checks for a waiter at a restaurant may not
be as thorough as those of a candidate for a network engineering role in the restaurant s corporate
headquarters IT department. Once a position s scope of work and access has been determined, the job
must be posted to receive responses from interested candidates. It is important for the posting to avoid
revealing access privileges to prospective employees when it advertises open positions (Whitman
Mattord, 2011, p494). The job description must contain specifics about the job and its duties while not
divulging too much detail that may open a part of the organization to risk by providing sensitive
details. Interviews are used as a tool to identify a candidate to hire, usually based on a field of
potential candidates resumes. The interview is a good resource for the hiring manager and human
resources to talk with candidates one on one to verify if the candidate actually matches some of the

Headstone V. Collins Analysis
In observing Headstone´s more genuine and honest attitude towards marriage, it is clear that his
proposal is more convincing than Collins´. In Collins proposal, he speaks of his patroness, Lady
Catherine de Bourgh, whom he relies on very heavily for advice. She says that marriage is for [her]
sake; and for [Collins], showing the selfish intentions behind Collins proposal. His self interested
goals of marrying Bennet are insincere and not as persuasive, making her less likely to empathize with
Collins and accept his proposal. He is merely proposing to Bennet for the purpose of pleasing his
patroness, unlike the romance fueled marriage perspective clearly shown in Headstone s proposal.
Contrary to Collins, Headstone appeals to an honest and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his proposal, Headstone makes no assumption that Hexam will accept his offer at all, in fact, after
he makes his argument, he states that he does not know that [he] could say more if [he] tried. He
knows that he has said all that he can to persuade her, and it is up to Hexam now to decide. By giving
Hexam freedom to choose her response, she will most likely appreciate this and be more inclined to
accept. However, Collins makes several assumptions about Bennet s response. He goes on to state
several different aspects of his to be marriage to her, even including that she will find [his patroness ]
manners beyond anything [he] can describe. By using the word will , there is an inference that Collins
has made, an inference with a tone of finality that more or less makes it seem like Bennet has already
accepted his proposal. This eager assumption may be off putting to Bennet and may negatively affect
her actual response to the proposal. However, in Headstone s phrases like if you would return a
favorable answer to my offer, he uses conditional words like if and would to show that he does not
expect Hexam to accept his proposal, and that his thoughts are simply hypothetical, adding to the
effective freedom of Hexam in choosing her

Corporate Mission and Goals
Taco Bell was founded in 1951 by American Entrepreneur Glen Bell. Bell was the very first person to

Wanting to grow, Bell sold the restaurants, forming a new partnership that opened four El Tacos (2).

Theme Of Rage In The Thousand And One Nights
The Thousand and One Nights, is a frame tale, where there are stories within stories, in which all the
tales included have a connection. The overall frame of the tale is the transformation of a good king to
a tyrant, which was caused the deception of his wife that invoked the King s anger by her infidelity. As
the overall tale continues, stories come into perspective and back up the main topic of the story by
using its own issues as examples. When reading the recurring theme in the overall frame and the
stories within the story is rage. There is a frequency in the tales, in where an issue occurs then it
enrages the subject, which causes a consequence that affects the one at fault. Therefore, a lesson can
be taken out of the the tale as a form of knowledge and progression. Analyzation of the theme of rage
can be done throughout the frame tales of The Thousand and One Nights. The Thousand and One
Nights, is the story of King Shahrayar, where King Shahrayar sees before his own eyes his wife
cheating on him with a black slave and also his ten slave girls sleeping with other men. After the
deception of his wife, he then declares that he will have a new wife everyday and then put her to death
in the morning. King Shahrayar is angered by the fact that he has been betrayed by his wife in his own
palace. Leading King Shahrayar to go to the extent of extinction of girls in the Kingdom, making the

Spanish As A Spanish Language
Spanish is one of the most common languages in the world. Many people can read and write in
Spanish, but some people aren t able to speak in Spanish such as me. Even though I struggled with
Spanish, I overcame it by practicing every day and getting help to speak it correctly. Back in high
school, I did well in all my classes including Spanish. I understand the meaning and grammar of some
Spanish words, but I struggled to speak it. My teacher wanted us to present in Spanish. I heard that I
was worried because I m not the best at presenting and especially speaking in Spanish (of course). In a
matter of seconds, I decided that I need to practice if I want to get a good grade and boost up my
G.P.A.
On the next day, I downloaded an app called Duolingo that helps you learn and speak a new language.
To me, it s helpful because I can practice ten to 20 minutes per day and go over some materials. On
google reviews, most people loved Duolingo s lessons being so shorter, quicker, and easier than
Rosetta Stone. It can let me go back to lessons for a recap what I did. Better yet it uses audio to let me
hear how it sounds and speaking slowly to pronounce. Over a week, I had improved my speaking
skills from speechless to mumbling quietly. This app is great in learning a new language, but not at
speaking to people (which is my problem).
When I came back to school, I decided to ask one of my friends Kenzie to help me gain confidence for
my presentation. By the way, she is better than me

Lianyungang China Book Report
Life and times working in Lianyungang China
Many Americans are currently working in China, about 70,000 in mainland China alone. Most are in
the medical or education field and are in the larger, more Westernized cities such as Beijing or
Shanghai. My story is a little different. Mine is one of a FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics)
inspector for FSE (Fiberglass Structural Engineering). The simplest way to explain to most people not
in the industry is to refer to it simply as Fiberglass Inspector (and NO not the pick stuff in your attic). I
was working at a facility located in Lianyungang which is located in the Jiangsu province of Eastern
China. Located about halfway between Beijing and Shanghai. Lianyungang is mostly an industrial
city. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I started researching what the local attractions were. I read about a famous story that was written by
Mr. Wu Cheng en in Ming Dynasty, Journey to the West, which is originated in Lianyungang. Part of
this story takes place on Huanguo mountain. Huanguo mountain was located not very far from where I
was staying. As it appears in the book it is a mountain inhabited by demons and monkeys. And while
there are a few monkeys to be found along the way, demons were (thankfully) notable in their
absence. In my journey to the top of the mountain I found many interesting things to see. There were
temples, homes, and wonderful scenery. Once I reached the top of the mountain there was a statue.
The best interpretation I got was that it was equal to what we would refer to as an angel. It had many
ribbons tied to it. The ribbons are tied to the symbol by a person asking for good fortune. There was
also a centralized monument that many young people were stilling under playing some sort of card
game. Off to the side there was a marker that marked the very top of the mountain. As I was admiring
the marker I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was a young girl, probably around 18 or 19. She was with a
couple friends. She asked, in broken English if she and her friends may take a picture with me. I said
of course you can. It was then that I realized that not only was I admiring all the attractions, I became
one. Once I was done with the picture session I found an older gentleman that had a monkey. As I
approached him he pointed at my cell phone and was giving me a take a picture gesture. He proceeded
to place the monkey on my hand a take a picture. I tipped him went on my way. This was one of the
most amazing days that I was in

A Revolution of the Distressed Essay
A Revolution of the Distressed
The world today is faced with many obstacles concerning all the peoples of the world. The issues
range from globalization to the state of the environment with every political, economic, and human
interest lying in between. It is these human interests that will be brought to light by examining the
revolutions of the Incan indigenous beginning in the early part of the twentieth century. Running
parallel to their North American neighbors, the native peoples of Peru have lived in seriously
impecunious conditions as the result of ethno racial discrimination handed them by their colonial
occupiers; Spanish speakers. These revolutions, namely Shining Path, would eventually define the gap
between the rich ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ever since the time of Spanish colonial rule, Incans were being treated completely unfairly. And in the
late 18th century, Peru began to see the first of its native revolutions under Jose Gabriel Tupac Amaru
II in 1780. These uprisings were headed by Indian nobility who showed antipathy towards the Spanish
administration as a result of being forced to subject their own people to taxes, unfair market prices,
and slave labor. The Incans throughout the time of Spanish colonial rule had hopes for the renewal of
their age old empire. However despite at least 100 revolts against colonialism the empire was never
revived. (Strong 41)
It was not until the 1920 s that the Incan rebellion would make any significant progression excluding
the pride they may have taken in brutal revenge and retaliation murders and massacres against
Spaniards. In this decade Peru witnesses the first shift from predominantly unorganized revolution to
serious political development. Although the movement known as Alianza Popular Revolucionaria
Americana (APRA) was crushed under the Leguia regime, the faction was the first political party to
legally call for reform in regard to the condition of the highland populations or peasantry. Strong

Essay on European Music History
Questions to Consider: Europe
1. How is the history of European and Arabic cultural contact reveal through musical characteristics in
places such as Spain and Bulgaria?
In Spain, the authentic flamenco had just a singer. It had a strained type of timbre and melisma was
used a lot. It shows that there was Arabic influence because they also had that type of style. And
because they also used a guitar as accompaniment, it showed there was European influence because
they liked harmony. Bulgarian music also had harmonies but with voices. This was a European
characteristic. Their music is very colorful and lively and I think that was Arabic influence.

An easy to play folk instrument is the hurdy gurdy. In the text it even says it s foolproof . To play it,
you just have to turn a crank and press some keys.
A folk instrument needing more advanced techniques is the uilleann. It s from Ireland and it is the
more complex type of bagpipes in the world. It is complicating because it requires a lot of
coordination. A player has to use both of his arms and hands at the same time.
5. How are music and musical instruments used to express national identity in Europe?
I think the music and musical instruments expresses national identity in Europe because there are
different styles of music according to where they are from in Europe. And different countries have
different types of instruments. For example the bagpipes in Scotland. Many people recognize music
with pipes to be from Scotland or Ireland. Spain has flamenco and Russia has their balalaika. They all
express their nationality and where they are from. The countries in Europe have different types of
musical styles that are distinct to their own country and culture.
6. Is language a reliable demarcation of musical style in Europe? Why or why not?
I don t think language is a reliable separation of musical style in Europe because even if people from
different countries speak the same languages, they might have different types of styles. For example,
Ireland and Scotland are grouped together but their music is a bit different. They both play

QUESTION 2
Compare the market structures of perfect competition and monopolistic competition.
What are the main differences?
Monopolistic competition differs from perfect competition in the fact that production does not take
place at the lowest possible cost. Because of this, firms are left with excess production capacity.
Monopolistic competition is a type of competition within an industry where all firms produce similar
substitutable products, all firms are able to enter the industry, all firms are profit maximizers and
finally where all firms have some market power, which means none of them are price takers. Whereas
perfect competition is a market structure where all the firms have to follow those five criteria: sell
identical products, be price takers, have small market share, buyers have full knowledge, freedom of
entry and exit.

A Form of Expression in Tattooing
Evidently through out time, human civilizations have found unique ways of expressing themselves,
through cave drawings, wood carving and even through body modifications. Ancient cultures were
able to express their emotions through a particular form of body art, known as tattooing. This form of
body art symbolizes self expression of individuality, status, and culture. The purpose of a tattoo and its
meaning varies from each culture and the time at which an individual gets a tattoo also varies within
each culture. Some tattoos are perceived as a sign of beauty while others can be perceived as a
distinction between statuses. The importance and meaning of the tattoo is relevant to the culture itself.
Tattooing is defined as the process of making permanent designs to an individual s body. The word
tattoo is believed to have two etymological origins. The first derivation is from the Polynesian word
ta, which is used for the sound when something strikes another thing (PBS). The second derivative is
from the word tatau, which originated in Tahiti and it means marking something on the body (RUSH).
The process of tattooing has been around for many years and there is contingent evidence of tools
marking the beginning of tattooing in the Upper Paleolithic (RUSH). However the first human to be
found with evidence of tattoos was a frozen corpse of a man, whom they call Otzi. According to
Professor Rush, Otzi dates between the 5th and 4th millennium, and he was found to have small lines

Deductive Reasoning
Deductive Reasoning In order to fully understand deductive reasoning, there are certain points to be
noted. First, what is the nature of deductive reasoning? Logical strength is defined as the property of
an argument whose premises, if true provide support for its conclusion. Deductive and inductive
arguments are also distinguished based on the point that logical strength is a matter of degree. This
distinction makes it necessary to understand the nature of deductive reasoning. Therefore, deductive
arguments are those whose premises guarantee the truth of the conclusion, and inductive arguments
are those whose premises make it reasonable to accept the conclusion though do not absolutely
guarantee its truth. Deductive reasoning is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
• The logical operators also play crucial part in telling precisely how the truth of the statement as a
whole is determined by the truth values of its component statements. They also define the different
kinds of truth functional statement as explained above. Four kinds of truth functions: 1. It is false that
Keanu Reeves is gay. Negation the statement p is false is true when the component statement is false
and false when the component statement is true 2. Manny Pacquiao is the world s featherweight
champion and he has not been defeated so far. Conjunction – true if and only if both statements are
true and false it both is false or either one is false 3. Either he stole it or somebody else stole it.
Disjunction – true when either one of the components is true or if both are true, it is false when both
are false • It is to note that disjunction is to be considered among complex statements. Consider the
example, either Mac did it or Bud it. This statement will still be grammatically correct if written as
either Mac or Bud did it but this perhaps is merely a simple statement containing compound subjects.
• It is also important to note that in a disjunctive truth function the two disjuncts are exhaustive but
not exclusive. This means that the disjuncts cannot be both false (exhaustive) but both may be true
(not exclusive). 4. If one commits homicide then he must be imprisoned. Implication – if p then q; the

My Resolution For New Year
Every year my family and I count down to the new year, this year I am came up with a resolution that
I can keep with myself for a long time and use it until I am out of school all the way up to collage.
New Year has always seemed to be a fresh start of a new cycle, this year I hope my resolution shall be
one of the best one! My new year s resolution for 2018 is to do better in school and to think outside
the box when it comes to schoolwork. This has been something that I have been trying to reach since
Middle school and I am still trying even harder to do my very best in school now. There is also still
some improvements that I need to make in school, like if I do bad on a test I know for next time to
study real good for that subject. However, I am going to start off this year the right way by not only
setting my goal, but also making sure I achieve each and every one of them.
This year I aim to focus on getting remarkable grades and staying focused in school no matter how
boring and long it is. I plan to do better in school than I did in 2017. Just some things I have to stay on
top of is studying and doing well on my homework no matter how long it takes. When I take tests I
have to be careful and pick the best possible answer, again that s where the studying should pay off. If
I am able to do everything I said then I should be sure to achieve my New Year s goal! This resolution
will make me more focused and be ready for tests and homework that my teachers throw at me. If I
make this change now then I will not have to worry about it in the future and I will be more on track
and in good shape.
Change is 100% needed in this area because I should be performing at my highest capability.
Homework so far this year in most of my subjects is difficult and sometimes confusing. I am trying to
get good grades in my subjects and so far I am not doing too bad but I need to do work beyond my
ability. If I am having trouble my first instinct is to wait and go ask the teacher the next day, but I fell
like now I should at least try my best and or ask family members for help. School is a #1 priority in
my family and it can pretty much decide where you go. You could go to a great collage and have an
amazing high paying job or

Essay On The Purpose Of Siddhartha
The Purpose, The Passion, and The Peace In Herman Hesse s novel, Siddhartha, he reveals One must
find the source within one s own self, one must possess it ( Hesse 5 ) . On his journey to achieve self
enlightenment, Siddhartha struggles to acquire his essential focal point. In several small towns,
gardens, forests, and along a river in India is where Siddhartha goes on a treacherous course and
encounters multiple teachers to whom he learns and obtains knowledge from. In addition to leaving
his parents, he joined a group called The Samanas, where he masters to think, wait, and fast.
Throughout Siddhartha s lifetime, The Samanas, Gotama, and the river were colossal influences that
paved the way for his achieving of self enlightenment. To begin Siddhartha s journey, he unites
himself among the group known as the Samanas where he had to sacrifice what he was for what he
will become. During his three years with the Samanas, his goal was to become empty of thirst, desire,
dreams, pleasure, and sorrow to let Self die ( 11 ). As Siddhartha practiced self denial and meditation,
he soon became various beings of nature, such as a dead jackal on a sandy shore. To become sole with

Adam Frank Monologue
Face pale with terror, Adam s shaky hand moved to switch on the bedside lamp. Images of Fire and
Brimstone, and writhing figures, men, women and children all screaming in pain as flames consumed
their bodies, flowed through his mind. Eyeballs exploded, and liquefied flesh oozed into fiery lava
pits, leaving nothing but a collapsed pile of charred bones on the ground before moments later the
victim s human form was resurrected in its entirety, and subjected to the same agonising fate again.
Over and over, ad infinitum.

Rowdy
Rowdy First impressions can be everything, especially in books. First impressions can determine
whether or not you like someone. Of course over time people and opinions can change, but for the
most part first impressions tell you a lot about a person. My first impression of Rowdy was a tough,
mean, hopeless boy, who in his own weird way loves and cares about Junior. He may not show it
much, but Rowdy can definitely be a nice happy kid who has big dreams about playing in the NBA,
even though those dreams are buried down deep inside of him. The first time that Rowdy was
mentioned in the book was just as Junior s best friend, other than Junior s dog Oscar. Rowdy is more

A lot of the time people waste time and energy making a super long speech about something, when it
is easier to just draw a picture and that will get the same idea across. In The Absolutely True Diary of
a Part Time Indian the pictures are a very important part of the book for many reasons including that,
the main character uses them as much as he uses words and the mean a lot to him, and that drawings
help tell the story and gives the reader a deeper understanding of what s going on. One of the pictures
that I drew was based off of a picture of Junior at the beginning of his time at Reardan, one half of the
picture was Junior as a poor Indian boy and the other half was a hopeful white boy. This drawing
especially stood out to me because other than the physical difference of clothing and accessories, the
white boy looked much happier and more hopeful. Also around the picture there were boxes with
words describing each side such as for the white boy a bright future , and hope and for the Indian boy
a vanishing past and bone crushing reality . The picture that I drew was similar to that picture, it was a
drawing of Junior before and after Reardan, but instead of being a self portrait it was drawn from
Rowdy s perspective. In my drawing I tried to express the anger that Rowdy felt at the fact that his
best friend had ditched him, but also the sadness that he was experiencing that he now had nobody to
stay with when his father beat him up. And no one to share his secrets and dreams with, Junior was the
only person who believed in Rowdy and now they both stayed away from each other. At the beginning
of the book, it was mentioned that Rowdy deals with pain by getting angry and trying to hurt people.
So in my drawing I tried to express how angry Rowdy was at Junior, and how much Rowdy hated
Junior for ditching him and thinking he was better than him, though inside rowdy knew that one day
Junior would leave and

The Power Of Large Media Corporations
We should have options such as having the option to choose where we get our news and information.
Understanding the world around us is significant because it gives us the power of knowledge. The
media provides us updates about events within our community and around the world. However, we are
presented with the same biased points of view from various sources. Our options are limited because
large media corporations have control over what we read, listen, and watch. These large media
corporations have taken over the media industry, control how and what information is brought to one,
and have a great political influence; therefore, one must do his or her own research and demand laws

Even though there several different corporations, they speak as one and form a monopoly. Large
media corporations influence how information provided to us is covered. They do whatever it takes to
get people to consider their form of media. Of all the cartel s dangerous consequences for American
society and culture, the worst is its corrosive influence on journalism (Miller 2001). In journalism, one
used to be able to ask questions and have both sides of the story; now, journalism has transitioned to
creating drama and making up fact. Once channels, radio stations, and newspapers get dominated,
they no longer cover the whole story, instead, they only cover a portion of it and emphasize certain
parts more than others. Their goal is to try to sell their form of media and get views. The cartels do not
care whether the information provided is factual or not. Lots of people liked what Fox s owner
Murdoch did, it was attracting lots of viewers because of the shouting and the scandals that would go
on Fox News; and at that time CNN went to the capital to seek advice from rightist polls to get more
viewers (Miller 2001). CNN wanted to get more views like Fox, so they also went to look for advice
on how to attract more viewers. While making the decision on how things get covered, the large media
corporations also take the time to slip in messages that will benefit

Basket making was normally done by the elders of the tribe. The elders would sit around large fires
weaving baskets and singing ancient songs or prayers. Phillip Martin said, The baskets were made out
of any materials found in the area. The most common material used was tall grass (Martin 1). The
baskets can be found in various sizes and different configurations. While in the Hall of the Tribes we
found a basket that was taller than a fully grown man. The basket was made out of tall grass and
weighed well over one hundred pounds. In order to color a basket tall grass would have to be cut and
dried on drying racks. After the grass was dried baskets would be decorated with dye. In order to dye a
basket a particular color different herbs, fruit berries, flowers, grasses of color, and certain species of
trees were selected to make the different dye colors. The materials used for dye were then crushed or
pulverized into powder and made into paste or liquid paint. After the dye paint was made the tall grass
was soaked in the desired color and again placed on drying racks. Weavers then selected the desired

The North American market is very price sensitive, and some components, like OE and spares which

Traditional cost system is judged in that it is suitable to manufacture the required product at minimum
cost and efficiency.
However, as a new member with a new product, electronic product in North American market, the
reputation is also an important attribute. Especially, quick delivery time is a key attribute for this

Homelessness Among The United States
Homelessness has always been growing across communities in the United States, and many struggle
from it as they are people who are lacking in funds, causing them to be without a home. Today,
homelessness among individuals is becoming more common and is unfortunately spreading all over
the world. Most home owning people are unaware of the actuality of the conditions that the homeless
people reside in and many cannot comprehend the troubles and hardships they face just to keep
themselves alive. Most homeless people are known to reside in abandoned buildings, buses, cars,
street corners and in many community parks. Most homeless people can barely afford to eat every day
and to survive many live on the scraps and leftovers from others. Homelessness is defined as someone
who cannot afford to pay for housing without depriving themselves of the essentials needed in life.
People who become homeless do not all necessarily live on streets, but many homeless people in our
modern society stay with friends, relatives and even in shelters as they cannot afford to live on their
own (Espejo 28).
The three kinds of homelessness that exist are, temporary homelessness, episodical/cynical
homelessness and chronic homelessness. A person who falls under the category of temporary
homelessness is typically a person or family that becomes homeless for a short period of time. Most
people are forced into temporary homelessness because of an unexpected and minor occurrence such

In today s world people use many words to describe different situations; some words are lovely, and

describe each situation and we are fully aware of the definitions behind them. In the Community
people use their words with great precision, making sure not to confuse anyone or cause any feelings

The Goal Of A Lifetime Goal
Lifetime Goals
Establishing lifetime goals is inherently a challenging exercise, yet an essential one for any person to
strive for prosperity in society. Goals are the very essence of what makes humans unique, we have the
ability to visualize a yet unseen world, we have to ability to hope. Even though logic may tell us
something is impossible, hope is the gift that gives us that spark in our mind, the spark that says Even
though there is a small chance, there is a chance nonetheless. Hopes and dreams are what drives us to
be better, to achieve more than anyone else, it is hope that encourages us to evolve. This being said,
my lifetime goal is very simple, I just wish to be happy. The goal of happiness seems to be very short
and sweet, however, it is deceptively elusive in our changing times. Being successful and making
money are commonly confused with happiness when in fact, they are merely avenues that may or may
not lead you towards your goal, but not a substitute for it; id est, they are a means to an end, not the
end itself.
The things that I have done, and plan to do are in accordance with what I believe will help me achieve
my end goal, happiness. To start, I have always been a very good student, but most people would say
that on a college essay, so the question is, What evidence do I have to substantiate such a claim? I
would like to submit this essay as my first form of evidence. I hope, by my insights illustrated in this

Compare And Contrast Massachusetts Bay And Jamestown
Jamestown V.S. Massachusetts Bay Jamestown and Massachusetts Bay were the first English colonies
formed in North America in the early 1600 s. While the Jamestown settlers searched for gold, the
Massachusetts Bay colonist came to escape persecution in England and obtain religious freedoms.
Although Jamestown and Massachusetts Bay were both English colonies, they both share many
similarities as well as differences socially, economically, and politically. Social similarities include the
dealings with Native Americans. (examples of each) During the time of these colonies settlement, they
both had accounts with Native Americans in the area. In the early times of settling each colony had
friendly relations with the natives. Jamestown formed alliances with the Powhatan people, while
Massachusetts Bay fell into relations with the Pequot tribe. Each settlement relied on Native
Americans to survive in the New World. The Powhatan people taught colonist John Rolfe how to grow

Language Between Language And Language
Language arose out of a need to communicate ideas and commands. Initially it was very basic, but in
its current form language is very complex. It a adapted to the changing need of speakers. In this sense,
language is a living entity which evolves in response to the changing cultural context in which it
exists. Because language evolves in response to culture, the full quality of its meaning is derived from
understanding the context in which it takes place. Educators must be aware of the sociocultural nature
of language, understanding that language cannot be viewed as stagnant or removed from its context.
This has implications for the ways that educators think about, understand and teach language, so that

Although language today can be seen as far more complex than in the past, due to the growing number
of cultural factors influencing it, language has been a social and cultural phenomenon since its
inception.
The development of language overtime illustrates the relationship between language and culture. To
have a holistic appreciation for language and meaning, this relationship must be understood. It is
likely that all human languages developed from one single language (Gee Hayes, 2011). As human
moved, language developed in relation to the different cultures as they inherited and this led to the
creation of the 6,500 languages that exist today, which does not include those which no longer exist
(Gee Hayes, 2011). Cultural influence has not only been responsible for the creation of different
languages, but has also created differences among the same language within different places. English
for example exits in many different forms around the world. The variances in Englishes began to
emerge as a result of colonisation. The colonization of America for example, led to the creation of
American English, a transformation which took only weeks, as American settlers had to evolve the
language to adapt to their new experiences, which British English could not accommodate as the
culture in England did not include these American specific experiences and ideas (Crystal, 2013).
Variations in language are specific to certain contexts. Understanding language requires

The representation of tragedy today has adapted itself to more humanistic, base and symbolic

Although O Neill insists that his play The Hairy Ape is not a tragedy, but rather a dark comedy, the
play follows the definition of a tragedy. The basic points that make up a tragedy still remain the same,
even if they have to be slightly modified to be relevant to today s audience. Despite this, The Hairy

concept of law and weighs decisions inside the context of such. Long sees his life as more important
than Mildred and her actions are. Yank however, does not merely want revenge on Mildred. For Yank,
the only important thing is his sense of self respect. He isn t going to let her put somep n over me.
Ironically, Long s declaration that Yank would be anged or lectrocuted is only half true. Yank does
indeed die at the end of his search to reclaim his dignity and identity, but in accordance with his final
realization that he is merely a brute, animalistic being, he is killed by and as such.
Oedipus may literally be of noble stature, but Yank is noble in a psychological sense. Yank sees
himself in a lofty and admirable position this is his sense of self. This self pride is Yank s equivalent of
Oedipus noble status. There are few nobles in modern day, and in response, modern tragedies have
reverted back to the core theme of a tragedy the transition of man into a higher level of

Princess Victoria And Prince Albert With Five Of Their...
The detailed and beautiful painting, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert with Five of Their Children was
painted by a German painter named Franz Xaver Winterhal. He was widely known for his beautiful
portraits of royal women. One of his portraits Queen Victoria and Prince Albert with Five of their
Children featured the queen, the prince, and their children. In the artwork, the queen and the prince are
centered with their children surrounding them. Both fully dressed in beautiful and elaborate formal
garments decorated with ornaments. Dressed in a red garment, next to Queen Victoria, is her son who
is staring at Prince Albert. On the right side of Prince Albert are two of their daughters dressed in
white dresses who are peering over an infant that is staring at something. While in front of the queen
and prince is another girl that is trying to walk. In the background of the painting, it shows an open
backdrop revealing a cloudy, blue sky with an ocean that stretches out in the distance. Nevertheless,
all paintings or artworks holds its very all importance depending on the eye of the beholder looking at
the artwork, as it will be interpret by what knowledge they have obtained.
Even though, it is merely a family portrait, this artwork reveals a hidden meaning about the royal
family and their interaction with each other. The artwork reveals a closeness between the queen and
prince and their children like an ordinary family in the world. However, it also displays a bit of

How Do Ocean Currents Affect The Climate System
The Way of the Ocean
Ry Cox
11/17/15
Ocean currents are a very big part of the world s oceans. Ocean currents move water, circulating
around the globe pushing warm and cold water all around. These ocean currents are driven by the rise
and fall of tides, wind, the sun, energy, surface currents, and subsurface currents. But how does the
temperature of the ocean currents affect the ocean? All of these make up ocean currents and help it
affect the climate system. Ocean currents also affect the climate system by circulating around the
world and using what it is driven by. Without ocean currents there would not be enough moisture or
energy in the world.
Two of the many big parts in ocean currents are surface currents and subsurface currents. ... Show

(Ocean Currents) Right now oceans are being affected by global warming, and not in a good way.
Global warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth s atmosphere generally
attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons,
and other pollutants. (Google Dictionary) Some of the many things are being affected in the ocean.
Like the sea levels, coastlines, ocean acidification, sea water, sea temperatures, tides, the sea floor, the
weather, and ocean currents. (Wikipedia) Over the past century it has been seen that sea levels have
risen by a lot because of global warming and that has contributed to the temperature increases of the
ocean. The ocean has started to get warmer and warmer. Studies have shown that global warming
might be changing the direction of the Atlantic Ocean currents and that can disturb sea life and land.
As warmer water is coming onto cold water places in the ocean, the warm water is pushing the cold
water way. Tides and waves are made by surface currents and subsurface currents and help the ocean
currents move. (Currents) The temperature of the ocean currents is a big part because it helps make the
circulation pattern as the currents move around. (Pidwirny) What makes the ocean currents spin in a
circular formation and move to different parts of the ocean is called a gyre. Gyres are what

Assessing Language Development
Language is a key factor in the communication between humans, playing an important part in the
interaction between individuals. The human language is a symbolic ruled governed system that is both
abstract and productive characteristics, enabling its speakers to produce and comprehend a wide range
of utterances (Kuczaj Hill, 2003). Many individuals from birth through infancy childhood and
adulthood have no issues when it comes to language development, but for many others the
development of language can be somewhat difficult. Several individuals struggle due to suffering from
a variety of impaired language disorders, making the development of new skills an extremely difficult
process. This essay is going to discuss how the research from studies ... Show more content on

This disorder is a rare developmental genetic condition present at birth, which affects numerous parts
of the human body. WS affects 1 in 10,000 people worldwide (Williams Syndrome association, 2014),
occurring through the deletion of several genes on chromosome 7. There are many characteristics of
this condition including a distinctive cheerful facial appearance, unique behavioural and cognitive
traits, mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, and cardiovascular problems. Children who suffer
frequently have delays in walking and speaking however this improves with age, but motor difficulties

Differences Between Philip II And Elizabeth I
Philip II and Elizabeth I are two of the most important figures during the 16th century. Philip had an
easier path to his reign because of his father and this gave him the power to enforce his will among his
subjects and resistance came along. Elizabeth s upbringing to the throne was more difficult than
Philips and it led her to develop stronger ambitions and values with her subjects. Both figures were
similar as they had passive aggressive attitudes towards their military strategies because different
implications of the times leading up to the Armada forced Philip and Elizabeth to make tough
decisions. Primary sources of Philip and Elizabeth will be presented in this paper to show the prior
similarities and differences of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was because Elizabeth tried to shift the responsibility onto the signatories of the Bond of
Association, presumably on the grounds that they had declared their own right to carry out the death
sentence against any person found guilty. Elizabeth wanted to push aside her responsibility for the
death of Mary to someone else, so Spain would understand and maybe not invade England. This
showed that Elizabeth s strategies during her reign were passive, although, she still proved to be a
leader who would protect her country from the Spanish by assembling a powerful naval fleet.
Elizabeth showed leadership qualities to her people and they looked up to her and that is why she was
a wiser leader to her subjects than Philip. Philip showed passive aggressiveness during the Spanish
Armada preparation because he was indecisive with his strategies. He would do his business at the San
Lorenzo de Escorial in a secret office. Philip did not want to pursue the war, but he felt that it was
inevitable. He was not sure what strategies would work. He would follow advice from fellow leaders,
but he was indecisive on what land or naval strategies to use. He knew that the English had a powerful
naval base, so this made his decision

The Pros And Cons Of Poverty Trap
What drives poverty? First, how does one country consider itself living in extremely poor conditions?
This can be answered by using tools like PPP or GDP per capita to distinguish between poor and rich
countries. However, the purpose of this paper is not to discuss which country has the highest GDP, but
rather to discuss the ability the poor obtain to boost their way out of poverty. Are there certain
limitations that poor people face that refrain them from growing or is it just that the poor will always
be poor? This paper will summarize main arguments of mechanisms that give rise to poverty traps
from the article, Do Poverty Traps Exist. Based on these summaries, I will conduct further critical
reviews on some and provide evidence to back my opinion on the specific mechanism at hand.
To begin, one of the arguments first presented in the article give light to saving based poverty traps. If
one does not have enough money to save, they cannot achieve sufficient capital so in turn, their
incomes become stagnant. However, the study in the article argues that the saving rates do increase
from low levels of development. So in some cases, this poverty trap does not exist.
Secondly, the article also argues that a big push to the manufacturing sector can result in high returns
and high income levels in both the modern sector and traditional sector. While, only investing in the
traditional sector, which consists of agriculture, will only provide equalized wages at a low level

The Importance Of The Hollywood Star System
There is no doubt that Hollywood is an industry based on selling movies and what sells movies better
than the marketing of a Hollywood star. An actor or actress can not only make movies successful, but
in addition their images are also profitable. The Hollywood Star System has been very profitable for
Hollywood and contributed to saving Hollywood in the late 1920s and 1930s when studios found it
financially hard to survive. Once Hollywood realized their star s had financial power there was no
stopping the lengths they would go to in order to sell their star s persona.
The Hollywood Star System originated during the Studio System in which actors and actress were
signed to long term contracts with the studios. Moreover, studios understood that the actor s public
persona was profitable. Studios invested heavily in the actor s public image or persona that they
wanted the public to perceive. Studios had contractual morality clauses that outlined an actor s
behavior so as to not tarnish the image that the studio was promoting. Therefore, the star system was
an economic boon to the studios and this style of contract system lasted from the 1920s to the early
1960s (Star, 2017). However, this left the actors feeling more like a commodity, than actual people or
employees, which created a contentious relationship between the studios and the stars that represented
them. This atmosphere often led to public power struggles , when actors challenged the studios in an
attempt to have

  • 2. Should Ionizing Radiation Be Used In Medical Diagnosis INTRODUCTION Radiation procedures used to diagnose medical conditions over the past century have grown from a scientific curiosity to a pervasive, essential part of modern health care. Radiology originated with ionizing radiation to diagnose human disease, however since discovering the physiological risks associated with ionizing radiation, such as mutation/cancer, an ongoing controversy arises as to whether ionizing radiation should be used in medical diagnosis. This investigation will analyze each end of the argument continuum to determine if ionizing radiation should continue to be used in medical diagnosis. BACKGROUND PHYSICS Ionizing radiation is any type of particle (neutrons, betas or alphas) or electromagnetic wave (gamma rays, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are different types of ionizing radiation, including gamma rays and x rays, which have been known to cause cancer. Additionally, because x rays can kill living cells, when improperly used they can cause severe burns, cancer, leukemia, and cataracts. They can speed aging, reduce immunity to disease, and bring about disastrous changes in the reproductive cells. Having few procedures employing ionizing radiation throughout your life may seem harmless, but as the levels of doses increase, your risk of developing cancer rises at the same rate, according to the LNT model. Figure 4 below exhibits potential medical consequences of certain periods of exposure to ionizing radiation: CONCLUSION Given the evidence, it can be concluded that while there are risks that arise with ionizing radiation in medical diagnosis, overall the benefits outweigh the risks, as doctors are able to diagnose various health concerns that would go undetected otherwise. That being said, ionizing radiation should continue to be used in medical diagnosis as they provide valuable medical procedures that can ultimately save ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Banana Trade War Between The European Union And The United... Introduction In this paper, I will summarize the banana trade war between the European Union and the United States. I will examine the information, explain the argument, and explain the affects this banana war has had on economies and laborers. I will also investigate Chiquita s role, the US s retaliation, examine the rules and regulations of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and explain their role in the dispute. Lastly, I will provide my assessment of the dispute and how I would resolve it acting as a representative of the WTO. This paper is outlined to answer each task to ensure evidence is provided to support my findings regarding the banana trade war. Should the European Union be forced to end this connection with its old colonies, as the United States have requested, and buy its bananas from other countries as well? Yes, just as prominent and successful as the European Union s (EU s) stance has been on this industry, it can all be dismantled and have greater and more far reaching consequences if they do not have to buy bananas from other countries as well. The financial stability of the EU, US, multinational companies, and its laborers can be drastically impacted. The livelihood, jobs and industries, can impact economies. If these other smaller countries are not taken care of their economies could collapse or they could resort to illegal drug industries, illegal immigration, and even drug trafficking which causes more harm than good. • 4. New-Hire Onboarding and Information Security Essay New employees, full time or non employee contractors, present a number of risks in regards to information security. These risks can be mitigated with well designed and thorough interview and onboarding processes. An organization s human resources department must have guidelines in place for interviewers and hiring managers to follow to allow for high risk potential candidates to be filtered out prior to hiring. The importance of information security as part of the hiring process is so important; the PCI Security Council has implemented a section in hits reference guide to maintain PCI compliance. Employees and non employee contract workers must all be vetted to ensure they do not pose threats to the organization s physical and information assets. It is up to the organization to determine what levels of access or levels of restriction should be in place on employees and contractors post hire. These levels should be identified prior to the hiring process to drive how thorough the candidate screening should be. The amount of background checks and reference checks for a waiter at a restaurant may not be as thorough as those of a candidate for a network engineering role in the restaurant s corporate headquarters IT department. Once a position s scope of work and access has been determined, the job must be posted to receive responses from interested candidates. It is important for the posting to avoid revealing access privileges to prospective employees when it advertises open positions (Whitman Mattord, 2011, p494). The job description must contain specifics about the job and its duties while not divulging too much detail that may open a part of the organization to risk by providing sensitive details. Interviews are used as a tool to identify a candidate to hire, usually based on a field of potential candidates resumes. The interview is a good resource for the hiring manager and human resources to talk with candidates one on one to verify if the candidate actually matches some of the ... • 6. Headstone V. Collins Analysis In observing Headstone´s more genuine and honest attitude towards marriage, it is clear that his proposal is more convincing than Collins´. In Collins proposal, he speaks of his patroness, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, whom he relies on very heavily for advice. She says that marriage is for [her] sake; and for [Collins], showing the selfish intentions behind Collins proposal. His self interested goals of marrying Bennet are insincere and not as persuasive, making her less likely to empathize with Collins and accept his proposal. He is merely proposing to Bennet for the purpose of pleasing his patroness, unlike the romance fueled marriage perspective clearly shown in Headstone s proposal. By giving Hexam freedom to choose her response, she will most likely appreciate this and be more inclined to accept. However, Collins makes several assumptions about Bennet s response. He goes on to state several different aspects of his to be marriage to her, even including that she will find [his patroness ] manners beyond anything [he] can describe. By using the word will , there is an inference that Collins has made, an inference with a tone of finality that more or less makes it seem like Bennet has already accepted his proposal. This eager assumption may be off putting to Bennet and may negatively affect her actual response to the proposal. • 10. Spanish As A Spanish Language Spanish is one of the most common languages in the world. Many people can read and write in Spanish, but some people aren t able to speak in Spanish such as me. Even though I struggled with Spanish, I overcame it by practicing every day and getting help to speak it correctly. Back in high school, I did well in all my classes including Spanish. I understand the meaning and grammar of some Spanish words, but I struggled to speak it. My teacher wanted us to present in Spanish. I heard that I was worried because I m not the best at presenting and especially speaking in Spanish (of course). In a matter of seconds, I decided that I need to practice if I want to get a good grade and boost up my G.P.A. On the next day, I downloaded an app called Duolingo that helps you learn and speak a new language. To me, it s helpful because I can practice ten to 20 minutes per day and go over some materials. On google reviews, most people loved Duolingo s lessons being so shorter, quicker, and easier than Rosetta Stone. It can let me go back to lessons for a recap what I did. Better yet it uses audio to let me hear how it sounds and speaking slowly to pronounce. Over a week, I had improved my speaking skills from speechless to mumbling quietly. This app is great in learning a new language, but not at speaking to people (which is my problem). Huanguo mountain was located not very far from where I was staying. As it appears in the book it is a mountain inhabited by demons and monkeys. And while there are a few monkeys to be found along the way, demons were (thankfully) notable in their absence. In my journey to the top of the mountain I found many interesting things to see. There were temples, homes, and wonderful scenery. Once I reached the top of the mountain there was a statue. The best interpretation I got was that it was equal to what we would refer to as an angel. It had many ribbons tied to it. The ribbons are tied to the symbol by a person asking for good fortune. There was also a centralized monument that many young people were stilling under playing some sort of card game. Off to the side there was a marker that marked the very top of the mountain. As I was admiring the marker I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was a young girl, probably around 18 or 19. She was with a couple friends. She asked, in broken English if she and her friends may take a picture with me. I said of course you can. It was then that I realized that not only was I admiring all the attractions, I became one. Once I was done with the picture session I found an older gentleman that had a monkey. As I approached him he pointed at my cell phone and was giving me a take a picture gesture. Ever since the time of Spanish colonial rule, Incans were being treated completely unfairly. And in the late 18th century, Peru began to see the first of its native revolutions under Jose Gabriel Tupac Amaru II in 1780. These uprisings were headed by Indian nobility who showed antipathy towards the Spanish administration as a result of being forced to subject their own people to taxes, unfair market prices, and slave labor. The Incans throughout the time of Spanish colonial rule had hopes for the renewal of their age old empire. However despite at least 100 revolts against colonialism the empire was never revived. (Strong 41) It was not until the 1920 s that the Incan rebellion would make any significant progression excluding the pride they may have taken in brutal revenge and retaliation murders and massacres against Spaniards. In this decade Peru witnesses the first shift from predominantly unorganized revolution to serious political development. A Form of Expression in Tattooing Evidently through out time, human civilizations have found unique ways of expressing themselves, through cave drawings, wood carving and even through body modifications. Ancient cultures were able to express their emotions through a particular form of body art, known as tattooing. This form of body art symbolizes self expression of individuality, status, and culture. The purpose of a tattoo and its meaning varies from each culture and the time at which an individual gets a tattoo also varies within each culture. Some tattoos are perceived as a sign of beauty while others can be perceived as a distinction between statuses. The importance and meaning of the tattoo is relevant to the culture itself. Tattooing is defined as the process of making permanent designs to an individual s body. The word tattoo is believed to have two etymological origins. The first derivation is from the Polynesian word ta, which is used for the sound when something strikes another thing (PBS). The second derivative is from the word tatau, which originated in Tahiti and it means marking something on the body (RUSH). The process of tattooing has been around for many years and there is contingent evidence of tools marking the beginning of tattooing in the Upper Paleolithic (RUSH). • 21. My Resolution For New Year Every year my family and I count down to the new year, this year I am came up with a resolution that I can keep with myself for a long time and use it until I am out of school all the way up to collage. New Year has always seemed to be a fresh start of a new cycle, this year I hope my resolution shall be one of the best one! My new year s resolution for 2018 is to do better in school and to think outside the box when it comes to schoolwork. This has been something that I have been trying to reach since Middle school and I am still trying even harder to do my very best in school now. There is also still some improvements that I need to make in school, like if I do bad on a test I know for next time to study real good for that subject. However, I am going to start off this year the right way by not only setting my goal, but also making sure I achieve each and every one of them. This year I aim to focus on getting remarkable grades and staying focused in school no matter how boring and long it is. I plan to do better in school than I did in 2017. Just some things I have to stay on top of is studying and doing well on my homework no matter how long it takes. When I take tests I have to be careful and pick the best possible answer, again that s where the studying should pay off. If I am able to do everything I said then I should be sure to achieve my New Year s goal! This resolution will make me more focused and be ready for tests and homework that my teachers throw at me. If I make this change now then I will not have to worry about it in the future and I will be more on track and in good shape. Change is 100% needed in this area because I should be performing at my highest capability. Homework so far this year in most of my subjects is difficult and sometimes confusing. I am trying to get good grades in my subjects and so far I am not doing too bad but I need to do work beyond my ability. If I am having trouble my first instinct is to wait and go ask the teacher the next day, but I fell like now I should at least try my best and or ask family members for help. School is a #1 priority in my family and it can pretty much decide where you go. You could go to a great collage and have an amazing high paying job or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian the pictures are a very important part of the book for many reasons including that, the main character uses them as much as he uses words and the mean a lot to him, and that drawings help tell the story and gives the reader a deeper understanding of what s going on. One of the pictures that I drew was based off of a picture of Junior at the beginning of his time at Reardan, one half of the picture was Junior as a poor Indian boy and the other half was a hopeful white boy. This drawing especially stood out to me because other than the physical difference of clothing and accessories, the white boy looked much happier and more hopeful. Also around the picture there were boxes with words describing each side such as for the white boy a bright future , and hope and for the Indian boy a vanishing past and bone crushing reality . The picture that I drew was similar to that picture, it was a drawing of Junior before and after Reardan, but instead of being a self portrait it was drawn from Rowdy s perspective. In my drawing I tried to express the anger that Rowdy felt at the fact that his best friend had ditched him, but also the sadness that he was experiencing that he now had nobody to stay with when his father beat him up. And no one to share his secrets and dreams with, Junior was the only person who believed in Rowdy and now they both stayed away from each other. At the beginning of the book, it was mentioned that Rowdy deals with pain by getting angry and trying to hurt people. Despite this, The Hairy Ape bears a striking resemblance to the quintessential Greek tragedy, Oedipus Rex. The only direct challenge to the Aristotelian definition of tragedy is the portrayal of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... YANK : ...I wished it d banged her! Tink I wanter let her put somep n over on me? Tink I m gonna let her git away wit that stuff? This is one of the most telling sections of the play. Long is the voice of reason. He recognizes the concept of law and weighs decisions inside the context of such. Long sees his life as more important than Mildred and her actions are. Yank however, does not merely want revenge on Mildred. For Yank, the only important thing is his sense of self respect. He isn t going to let her put somep n over me. Ironically, Long s declaration that Yank would be anged or lectrocuted is only half true. Yank does indeed die at the end of his search to reclaim his dignity and identity, but in accordance with his final realization that he is merely a brute, animalistic being, he is killed by and as such. Oedipus may literally be of noble stature, but Yank is noble in a psychological sense. Yank sees himself in a lofty and admirable position this is his sense of self. Ocean currents move water, circulating around the globe pushing warm and cold water all around. These ocean currents are driven by the rise and fall of tides, wind, the sun, energy, surface currents, and subsurface currents. But how does the temperature of the ocean currents affect the ocean? All of these make up ocean currents and help it affect the climate system. Ocean currents also affect the climate system by circulating around the world and using what it is driven by. Global warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants. The ocean has started to get warmer and warmer. Studies have shown that global warming might be changing the direction of the Atlantic Ocean currents and that can disturb sea life and land. As warmer water is coming onto cold water places in the ocean, the warm water is pushing the cold water way. Tides and waves are made by surface currents and subsurface currents and help the ocean currents move. • 42. Differences Between Philip II And Elizabeth I Philip II and Elizabeth I are two of the most important figures during the 16th century. Philip had an easier path to his reign because of his father and this gave him the power to enforce his will among his subjects and resistance came along. Elizabeth s upbringing to the throne was more difficult than Philips and it led her to develop stronger ambitions and values with her subjects. Both figures were similar as they had passive aggressive attitudes towards their military strategies because different implications of the times leading up to the Armada forced Philip and Elizabeth to make tough decisions. Primary sources of Philip and Elizabeth will be presented in this paper to show the prior similarities and differences of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was because Elizabeth tried to shift the responsibility onto the signatories of the Bond of Association, presumably on the grounds that they had declared their own right to carry out the death sentence against any person found guilty. Elizabeth wanted to push aside her responsibility for the death of Mary to someone else, so Spain would understand and maybe not invade England. This showed that Elizabeth s strategies during her reign were passive, although, she still proved to be a leader who would protect her country from the Spanish by assembling a powerful naval fleet. Elizabeth showed leadership qualities to her people and they looked up to her and that is why she was a wiser leader to her subjects than Philip. Philip showed passive aggressiveness during the Spanish Armada preparation because he was indecisive with his strategies. He would do his business at the San Lorenzo de Escorial in a secret office. Philip did not want to pursue the war, but he felt that it was inevitable. He was not sure what strategies would work. He would follow advice from fellow leaders, but he was indecisive on what land or naval strategies to use. He knew that the English had a powerful naval base, so this made his decision ... • 43. The Pros And Cons Of Poverty Trap What drives poverty? First, how does one country consider itself living in extremely poor conditions? This can be answered by using tools like PPP or GDP per capita to distinguish between poor and rich countries. However, the purpose of this paper is not to discuss which country has the highest GDP, but rather to discuss the ability the poor obtain to boost their way out of poverty. Are there certain limitations that poor people face that refrain them from growing or is it just that the poor will always be poor? This paper will summarize main arguments of mechanisms that give rise to poverty traps from the article, Do Poverty Traps Exist. Based on these summaries, I will conduct further critical reviews on some and provide evidence to back my opinion on the specific mechanism at hand. To begin, one of the arguments first presented in the article give light to saving based poverty traps. If one does not have enough money to save, they cannot achieve sufficient capital so in turn, their incomes become stagnant. However, the study in the article argues that the saving rates do increase from low levels of development. So in some cases, this poverty trap does not exist. Secondly, the article also argues that a big push to the manufacturing sector can result in high returns and high income levels in both the modern sector and traditional sector. While, only investing in the traditional sector, which consists of agriculture, will only provide equalized wages at a low level ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Importance Of The Hollywood Star System There is no doubt that Hollywood is an industry based on selling movies and what sells movies better than the marketing of a Hollywood star. An actor or actress can not only make movies successful, but in addition their images are also profitable. The Hollywood Star System has been very profitable for Hollywood and contributed to saving Hollywood in the late 1920s and 1930s when studios found it financially hard to survive. Once Hollywood realized their star s had financial power there was no stopping the lengths they would go to in order to sell their star s persona. The Hollywood Star System originated during the Studio System in which actors and actress were signed to long term contracts with the studios. Moreover, studios understood that the actor s public persona was profitable. Studios invested heavily in the actor s public image or persona that they wanted the public to perceive. Studios had contractual morality clauses that outlined an actor s behavior so as to not tarnish the image that the studio was promoting. Therefore, the star system was an economic boon to the studios and this style of contract system lasted from the 1920s to the early 1960s (Star, 2017). However, this left the actors feeling more like a commodity, than actual people or employees, which created a contentious relationship between the studios and the stars that represented them. This atmosphere often led to public power struggles , when actors challenged the studios in an attempt to have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
