To What Extent Can quot;waverley quot; Be Called an...
When asked whether Waverley is an anti Romantic novel, one must first fully understand the term
Romantic and then discuss whether the characteristics of this expression are at all reflected within
Waverley.
One must take into consideration the historical and political conditions within society at the time and
their influence on this great writer and his works.
The Romantic period occurred some time from 1789 to 1832. It was a dramatic turning point in
literary history as it was considered a movement away from classical traditions and provincial
languages within the field of literature which had been safe yet restricting for the authors of the time.
Through the portrayals within poetry of nature and controversial subjects such ... Show more content

Scott used this to pose questions about historical focus, evolution in literature, public thinking and
social opinions at the time. This is why one must understand the historical events taking place and the
consequent changes of opinion and approaches to society. It is suggested that the novel Waverley
revisits past pieces of Scottish literature, therefore maintaining an awareness of historical relevance.
By doing this Scott is able to use the past as a setting for his writings and while doing so, he is able to
reflect upon the time that Waverley was written and the proceeding eras. He was therefore able to
explore history and develop an understanding of the ideology and social expectations of the time.
This influential Novel was set in the Jacobite revolution in 1745, in which class clashes had begun to
form between those who wished the Stewards and their society to remain and those who wanted
change. This affected the message of the novel greatly. The early chapters of the novel show how,
despite family allegiance Edward maintains the Tory identity and reflects steward loyalist. These
political events within the novel reveal the ideological and historical importance s within the rebellion,
which would shape the nation and therefore future literature. Scott used complex ideological dynamics
to create a tension within this novel, comparing issues within these eras, national interests and the

External Stability
External Stability
External stability is the government objective that seeks to achieve current account sustainability, a
continued capacity to service foreign liabilities, and a foreign exchange rate; all of which are
necessary to facilitate and encourage economic transactions between Australia and the rest of the
world.
External stability is the aim of government policy that seeks to promote stability and sustainability in
Australia s external sector so that Australia can service its foreign liabilities in the medium to long run
and avoid currency volatility. There are three main components to external stability: 1. A sustainable
current account deficit (CAD) 2. A serviceable level of foreign liabilities 3. A stable ... Show more

The primary measure of the sustainability of a country s foreign debt is the debt servicing ratio, while
the primary measure of foreign equity sustainability is the equity servicing ratio. These ratios indicate
the proportion of export revenue that must be spent on interest payments for foreign debt (or dividend
payment on foreign equities).
In the long term, extensive growth of Australia s foreign debt can lead to a sustainability problem, as
the costs of servicing current debt can create difficulty when servicing future debts. If foreign debt
rises faster than GDP, interest repayments and other servicing costs on this debt will begin to take a
proportionately larger part of GDP, constraining economic growth and jeopardising living standards. If
prolonged, this may lead to a debt trap scenario.
Australia s Exchange Rate
Because Australia has a floating exchange rate, the currency s value is left to be determined by the
market forces of international demand and supply. There is no specific measure of exchange rate
volatility. Economists instead refer to movements in Australia s bilateral exchange rate or movements
in Australia s TWI to demonstrate exchange rate volatility. Since floating in 1983, Australia s
exchange rate has been remarkably volatile. This has been seen especially in the past six to seven
years, where the Australian dollar has appreciated substantially against the US dollar, from record
lows in August 2001 of US48 cents

Return Of Martin Guerre Analysis
Throughout the book of The Return of Martin Guerre, Davis makes several claims and accusation
against Bertrande that she clearly cannot back up with history facts. Her assumption that Bertrande
knew that Arnaud du Tilh was not her husband the entire time and that either by explicit or trait
agreement, she helped him become her husband (Davis, 44) cannot be proved with historical content.
Davis hypotheses is based off of her invention, which is a product of her assertions and reasoning of
her perception based off of her research. Although her perception is plausible, there is no hard
evidence to back up her claim. Finlay s response to Davis book clearly addresses several concerns he
finds with Davis invention. Finlay signifies his perception of Davis s book by claiming that she ...

Davis does not connect her assumptions to accurate history data and opposes Coras s perspective of
the trial. Therefore, Finlay s argument against Davis perspective is more convincing, because he does
not speculate or back up his points with non historical context, unlike Davis who uses convoluted
reasoning and unsubstantiated assertions to support her thesis. The absence of the trial records makes
Davis depend on Coras s account, which remains the best source for the story of Martin Guerre
(Finlay, 556) primarily, because Coras witnessed the scandal making him a primary source. Davis

It seems that no one really understands us. By us I mean the people who live every day in fear of
starving or freezing to death. People walk past us on the streets and comment on how sick we look,
but they do nothing to help! They think that if they give us money we will just spend it on alcohol,
cigarettes, or drugs. They don t understand that we are scared, scared of dying, and scared of having
nothing to live for.
I only have one thing to live for, my younger brother. I am responsible for taking care of him because i
was the one who convinced him to run away from the orphanage with me. The way we have been
living is hard, but we manage. I leave him every day at 8 o clock in the morning to go steal some of
the sweet juicy oranges that the shopkeeper sells. He caught me one time, but let me go, promising

Essay On Stormbreaker
First of all, in the novel Stormbreaker, 14 year old Alex Rider experiences things that a normal
schoolboy would never experience. Having his uncle, Ian, assassinated because of his involvement in
MI6, a secret intelligence agency for the British Government. The details told to Alex about his uncle
s death were soon to be discovered as lies when he saw Ian s car in the junkyard with windows
completely shattered as if it was shot at. He was told that Ian died in a car accident because he wasn t
wearing a seat belt, however this was now confirmed as a lie. The picture I chose to represent this
event is from the movie, a few seconds prior to Ian s assassination by the hands of Yassen
Gregorovich. Second, once Alex finds out about the mission Ian took that led to his assassination, MI6
asked for his help. A 14 year old boy s help in the same mission that got his uncle, a professional spy,

Analysis Of J. Cole s The Album 2014 Forest Hill Drive...
J. Cole released his album 2014 Forest Hill Drive on December 9, 2014 without any features, media
marketing, or promotions (Berry). This album became significant within the music industry because of
how far it strays from the lyrical composition of popular rap artists of today. Majority of rap artists in
the 2000 s rely heavily on commercial producers and multiple artist features to promote the popularity
of their album. Rappers often do not stray far from crude, sexual and misogynistic lyrics just to gain
fame and cash flow for their label. As a hip hop artist, J. Cole manages to gain more success than any
rap album with no features. J. Cole writes an honest, and nostalgic album that speaks further into his
thoughts on current social issues and his personal life story. He shines a light on his insecurities and
gets his audience to feel a special connection with him as an artist. J. Cole managed to create the only
album in rap and hip hop history to go platinum without any features while transcending development
of pop culture within the rap industry. Hip Hop developed as an urban underground movement during
the 1970 s in South Bronx, New York and when this subculture first surfaced, the terms hip hop and
rap music were used interchangeably (Ralph). Since the beginning of the genres, majority of music
enthusiasts felt more connected to rap, and it gained commercial popularity more rapidly. Hip hop
remained underground, and artists like J. Cole were hardly recognized by

Assessment in Music Education has been a hot topic for...
Assessment in Music Education has been a hot topic for some time now. Questions have arisen about
what to assess, how to assess and even questioning whether to assess at all. Pinpointing the issues at
hand is the first task in answering these questions but of course, there are different opinions on where
the issues start in Music education. Since the early 2000 s, the education system has adopted standards
on the federal, state and local levels in an effort to help ensure a standard proficiency. From No Child
Left Behind to most recently the CCS (Common Core Standards) has been introduced to states to
ensure every student in the USA gets the same education and assessment from Washington to Florida.

Analysis Of As You Like It
As You Like It , is a Shakespearean comedy that is believed to have been written around the 1600 s.
This play holds onto many strong motifs throughout the entire play. One of the most obvious motifs
would have to be the concept of exile. Many of the characters in the play have been intimidated away
from their homes, while others left voluntarily to live in the forest of Arden. This separation from their
homes in the court aids in helping Shakespeare s major themes come alive. The major themes evident
in Act 4 Scene 3 is the malleability of humans through experience, the effects of love, and a
comparison of city life to country life. It is important to note the malleability of human nature through
an individual s life experience. According to some psychologists, what is built in [to humans] is this
capacity to learn and change according to the world [they] find [themselves] in (Dweck, par. 3). This
is supported in Shakespeare s play through the character of Oliver. At his home in the court, Oliver
finds himself blessed with the riches and power that his father handed down to him. This inheritance is
known as the right of primogeniture. The system in which a father s riches and title is handed down to
the eldest son, leaving the rest of the siblings with nothing. Oliver is a petty and jealous individual
who treats his younger brother Orlando as if he were just another servant. The root of this hatred is
made clear in Oliver s monologue at the end of act one scene one, in

Chicago River Research Paper
The Chicago River was settled by Native American tribes and they were the first to discover the
portage between the Chicago River and Des Plaines River. The portage of the river is a valuable to
Europeans since it is linked to the Great Lakes with the Mississippi that is a good way to export and
import goods and the shipbuilding industry. The river has been reversed in 1889 by the Chicago
Sanitary and Ship Canal to keep the sewage clean and flushing filthy water into Lake Michigan due to
the waterborne diseases that people were dying of to cholera or. Later again in 1922 the Cal Sag

Toxins in the water contribute to problems of the river because of the many times back in the day
when businesses dumped their waste into the river and till today isn t not yet cleared. Another problem
of the Chicago River is that the public has to interest and don t take any access towards the river
because the river is fenced and some people still remember the awful stinky smell and the black color.
The purpose of this field trip was to go test the different chemicals that are in the water and the health

Fahrenheit 451, By Ray Bradbury
Clarisse s allusion is important because it reflects her purpose and also reflects her own
characteristics. Clarisse s name comes from the Latin word, Clarus, meaning clearly , this reflects her
characteristics because Clarisse s complexion is pale, and bright which can be referred to as clear . In
the novel, Bradbury writes in the novel, Her face was slender and milk white, and in it was a kind of
gentle hunger that touched over everything with tireless curiosity. It was a look, almost, of pale
surprise; the dark eyes were so fixed to the world that no move escaped them. Her dress was white and

the other. The quote shows how after taking a barrage of questions from Clarisse, Guy starts to realize
his conflicting feelings, Bradbury emphasizes this conflict with a variety of comparisons. In another
instance, after talking with Clarisse, Montag reflects on wether he is happy. This can be seen when
Ray writes, The music was almost loud enough so he could follow the tune. He felt his smile slide
away, melt, fold over, and down on itself like a tallow skin, like the stuff of a fantastic candle burning

Benefit Of Ocean Exploration
Astonishingly, Did you know that we have better maps of the moon than we do of the ocean? It s true!
Scientists are working to make drones to explore the deep sea. Ocean Exploration is a developing
science that incorporates the use of marine biology and drone technology. Ocean Exploration
technology will be an overall benefit to society because 1. exploring the ocean is easier than before
and 2. ocean exploration can help with monitoring the deep sea.
First of all, ocean exploration technology has advanced much more than before in the past decade. In
the past, people had to bring everything needed for scuba diving which included hundreds of pounds
of gear and photographing technology. Now, all you need is the drone and an ocean. There are many
things needed for scuba diving. Such as, oxygen tanks and diving gear that also cost lots of money.
With drones, ocean exploration will be much cheaper and faster than scuba divers ever have been. (#2)
According to a journalist, Kimberly Pierceall, from Military Times, from her article Researchers Want
To Use Drones For Ocean Floor Exploration She said that, ..They (Scientists) hope (12 research

My Dream In Life
It was just another typical, and boring day in Hopedale, Massachusetts. Working on a farm meant
blood, sweat, and sometimes even tears. I walked up to the barn to milk the cows, and fed freshly
picked vegetables to the pigs, afterward I made my way two miles to the flea market to sell my milk
and wool. By the time I got back, it had reached dusk, the sky was filled with gorgeous, bright stars
that filled every crack of the dark night sky. I was exhausted and filthy, I smelt like dirty socks that
hadn t been washed in years. As soon as I got home, I hopped into the shower, the warm water
dripping from my hair to my toes. I ran my fingers through the rough tangles in my curly brown hair.
As I grabbed the shampoo bottle I could feel my feet burning from the blisters on my the bottom of
my feet. I turned knob on the left side of the shower to turn off the water and reached for a dry towel
and wrapped it around my waist. Water trickled down my legs as I attempted to dry myself off. I
slipped into my favorite warm pajama pants and put on a large teal sweatshirt, then i got into bed and
pulled the covers up to my face and immediately dozed off into a deep sleep. I dreamt of the future a
life filled of adventure with a young boy that I could call my own. Suddenly, there was a loud, blaring

Q1. Describe Dennis s health as an adult living in London. Use an example to support your answer.
The physical aspect of Dennis s health is extremely poor, his cardiovascular health capability is shown
to be very weak and this can be seen in numerous scenes but, particularly the scene where he is a
chasing a shoplifter, he is extremely tired and cannot run for more than 30 seconds without having
trouble breathing and sweating profusely. Dennis has some major issues interfering with his physical
health e.g his smoking habit, alcohol abuse and bad diet. All these bad habits has lead him to have
poor physical health, this can also be seen by his weight in the movie
Mentally, Dennis is not in health either. He struggles with anxiety and sadness, maybe even
depression. Dennis does not have very good coping skills, he falls back into bad habits when things
get hard and he does not know how to deal with stressful or bad situations. An example of this is when

Nearly 4.6 million ER visits in the United States were related in some way to drugs in 2009. Drug

Reasons To Stop Animal Testing In The United States
In the United States over 100 million animals are use for animal testing they treat them in a cruel way.
However, these creatures suffer many damages and the problem is that they cannot defend themselves
and if we still consuming products that includes animal testing this plague is never going to end. Some
of the main reasons why we should stop buying products that they use animals for testing are because
of the physical pain they cause to the animal, animals rights are violated when they use them for
research and, the mental damage you cause to the animal if they survive.
In the first place, the physical pain you cause to the animal goes above than a hundred. Most of these
animals die because of the several damages they suffered when they are tested. According to The
International Association for the Study of Painan pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional
experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage
that means that every time you feel something bothering your body and it gives you an unpleasant
time is caused by pain. In other words, these poor animals suffer pain every time they are going to be

stairwells, up to cramped apartments. A place to get away from the display case of city life. A place to
get away from the clouds, those clouds that filled the sky. And so what? I told myself. So what if this
isn t the promised land? So what if you didn t know what you liked about that place until you lost it? It
s still different, and It s still not a final destination, right? The next morning I awoke to find two men
standing in the driveway. Their bloated stomachs hanging down over their belts. Torn, Beat, and
ragged baseball were caps cocked back upon their not so closely shaved heads. The older one of the
pair seemed to be letting himself in the front door, while the younger man examined the Toyota
suspiciously. Mom. I called into the kitchen, where my mother was vigorously stirring a pot of milk
on the stove for coffee, partly to relieve frustration, and partly to replicate the perfect fluff of big city
cappuccinos. What is

Imagery In The Great Gatsby Analysis
Imagery is used in writing when a writer trying to emphasis a specific key element, or portray a clear
picture for the reader to understand. Throughout the book, The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald uses
imagery to paint a vivid picture for the reader. Imagery is used to describe specific key elements of a
story which is shown in The Great Gatsby. Imagery was portrayed for the reader especially when it
comes to the setting and characters. In the movie however, imagery was shown both similar and
differently. The movie focuses a lot on the setting and charters but also shows imagery of other small
factors. Imagery was both present in both the book and the movie, both the movie and book had
similar routes of incorporating the imageries. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his blue garden men and girls came and went like moths among the whisperings and the champagne
and the stars. (Fitzgerald 39) This imagery compared the people and guests invited to the party to
moths because clusters of people would walk in and out of the house and the house was stuffed and
packed with guests. This imagery was also shown in the movie, in one scene the movie portrays the
blue garden with tons of couples and guest dancing along the blue garden. Imagery also played a big
part in describing the Valley of the Ashes illustrated in chapter two of the book. Nick, the narrator
describes The Valley of Ashes as the land that lies in between the Eggs and New York. The name
Valley of the Ashes was given to this specify area is given due to its horrible conditions. This area was
very unpleasant and is considered the dead land or the waste land. This is a valley of ashes, a fantastic
farm where ashes grow like wheat into ridges and hills and grotesque gardens; where ashes take the
forms of houses and chimneys and rising smoke and, finally, with a transcendent effort, of men who
move dimly and already crumbling through the powdery air. (Fitzgerald 23) This imagery portrays
lower social class at the time period. The Valley of Ashes is very symbolic to the book as it symbolizes
the plight of the poor, and characters such as George Wilson, who lives in the

Multiple Sclerosis And The Central Nervous System
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a degenerative and potentially debilitating disorder that affects the spinal
cord and brain, collectively known as the central nervous system. Multiple sclerosis evolves gradually
throughout time and is considered to be auto immune, which means the immune system mistakenly
attacks healthy cells and tissues that are supposed to be within the body. According to Medscape,
symptoms consist of, but are not limited to, sexual problems, ataxia (the inability to control certain
muscle movements as defined by Tortora and Derrickson), fatigue, and optic neuritis. Multiple
sclerosis is characterized into four different types: relapsing remitting MS, secondary progressive MS,
primary progressive MS, and progressive relapsing MS. There is currently no cure for multiple
sclerosis, but there are many forms of treatments to help suppress the symptoms and hinder the
progression. The Patient Education Institute lists of treatments include prescription medication and
healthy lifestyle habits, such as exercising. Steroids are also administered to delay the severity of the
attacks. The aforementioned details about the treatments, types, and symptoms of multiple sclerosis
are merely a superficial analysis. To fully understand this disease, a more in depth and detailed focus
of its impact within the body is needed. As previously stated, multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune
disease that affects the brain and nerve cells known as neurons and neuroglia. Neurons transmit

Technology Changes In Law Enforcement Essay
Technology has been changing for years. It has been improving and it has been improving very fast.
Technology place a big role in law enforcement. Before all the improvements in technology it was
usually the officer s words against the subjects. That has change dramatically. Law enforcement

This helps with the safety of the officers and also the people they are dealing with. Technology has

There have been many incidents where subjects have stolen a police cruiser or been able to retrieve a
weapon from a police cruiser. They have upgraded the security in most police cruisers by adding a
switch or a special way to put the police cruiser in gear that only the officers should know about, so
when someone tries to drive off they will be confused about why the vehicle won t go in gear and that
will stop a lot of trouble from happing. Now with the safety of having weapons in the cruiser they
have added more secure gun locks and special switches or buttons to quickly un lock the weapon. This
simple upgrade in gun safety technology can make a big difference in certain situations. One
technology improvement that isn t in the vehicle but on the outside of the cruisers is the lights. The
light bars that are on top of a cruiser have been made smaller and brighter. There have also been little
led lights added around the vehicle to be more noticeable. The newer light bars on the top of the
cruiser can also be used as take down lights which are used to light up alleys or places that you d light
to be more visible instead of just using a sot light. With that being said the spot lights are still being
used but instead of it just being one old bulb they have been replaced with multiple led lights which
have improved the brightness by a lot. With the technology changes the equipment that an officer
carries while on duty has changed. Most officers don t

Energy Systems In Football
The fitness components mentioned previously use different energy systems throughout the game.
Energy whilst playing football can be derived from two metabolic processes: aerobic and anaerobic.
Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is necessary for all muscle contraction however this store will only last
for a limited period of time, as such other systems must be used during football to compensate for this.
Footballers use these energy systems in varying degrees relative to their position.
Bloomfield, et al calculated that a footballer s energy expenditure can be determined by the purposeful
movement (PM) of the player; relative to the position this PM may be a series of movements. A table
detailing the Bloomfield Movement Classification can be seen ... Show more content on

These sprints are fuelled by the ATP PC system and the anaerobic glycolysis system which use up the
creatine phosphate (CP). It allows for up to approximately ±12 seconds of maximum effort ring these
sprints the supply of ATP is quickly used up, as such CP donates phosphate for the synthesis of ATP
through the creatine kinase reaction (Bangsbo 1994). Footballers will also use glycogen in the form of
carbohydrates when the intensity is high an is prolonged. Glycogen is stored in the muscle and is
broken down anaerobically, however this is a finite store also and Bangsbo (2007) found that the
muscle glycogen store is depleted by half time.
Energy expenditure also depends on the formation and tactical strategies, depending on whether the
team are playing a defensive or attacking style.
Serie A teams, for example, are notoriously defensive minded and perform more short passes during
the match than the opposing team of lesser calibre, according to Rampinini et al. Hence, a better team
will have more possession and thus will perform more less intensity running than the opposing team.
Rampinini et al also showed that the number of short passes decreased in the second half with respect
to the first, which is probably due to

Behavioral Therapy And Cognitive Therapy
In this paper, I will compare and contrast Group Therapy and Cognitive therapy, more specifically,
dialectical behavioral therapy, and the differences between assessment types that clinicians use to
determine a diagnosis and therapy that would best benefit their client. In the second part of my paper, I
will discuss and address different considerations in which a therapist should make in order to provide
a safe and effectively therapeutic environment. Though therapy is a largely utilized form of mental
health treatment, the different theories, types, and approaches are not commonly known. Therapy
itself holds a stigma, rendering its components widely unknown and avoided by a vast population.
Throughout history and many different cultures, there have been many forms of psychological
treatment, some more humane than others. The ancient view was generally found to be that
abnormality usually had something to do with evil spirits and cursed individuals; they viewed the
human body as a battleground between external forces of good and evil . . . abnormal behavior was
typically interpreted as a victory by evil spirits, and the cure was to force the demon from a victim s
body. (pg. 8 of book) Later, in Greek and Roman times, it was widely believed that abnormal behavior
was formed and caused by dysfunction of the human body itself. It is clear that therapy, and
knowledge of psychology in general, has come a long way; from asylums to reformation and moral
treatment, today s

According to Reddy, R., and Keshavan, M. S. in Understanding schizophrenia (2015), there is not a

disease. Health professional have to rely only on the signs and symptoms that the individual is

I. Attention Step:
a. Attention getter: About 85% of breast cancers occur in women who have NO (make sure to

it.
b. Why should we care? According to (Bender, 2012) 40,000 women and approximately 390 men will
die this year from breast cancer. Cancer does not discriminate; it could be someone you know. It could
be you.
c.
d. According to breastcancer.org, Breast Cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide
and the second most common cancer overall. In 2016, an estimated 247,000 cases of invasive breast
cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S. alone. So no matter who you are or where you live, understanding
breast cancer is very important. But the most important thing to know is that a diagnosis is NOT a
death sentence, it can be treated.
Transition Statement
II. Need/Problem Step:
a. According to genetics and social science research there are striking differences between White and
minority populations affected with breast cancer in the U.S. These disparities are likely due to a
combination of cultural, environmental and genetic factors that differ between the groups. Historically,
scientists have separately explored either the genetic or the social/behavioral contributions to cancer.

Rocking Horse Winner and The Destructors
There are many differences and similarities between Graham Greene s The Destructors and D.H.
Lawrence s Rocking Horse Winner. One general difference is that in The Destructors the setting is in
Great Britain, after the bombing had happened during World War 1, when the buildings were
destroyed. The setting of Rocking Horse Winner is a suburban community located on the outskirts of
Baltimore, Maryland. This one distinct difference affects the entire background of each story. The

The children in the story do not seem to be affected by this very much, since they have all pretty much
lived there entire lives like this, except T who comes from an upper class family but is forced into
poverty by the war. To him and the other boys in the story money seems to be of no great significance.
The awkward thing about the family in Rocking Horse Winner is that they all maintain an upper class
status even though they are short on money. This is hard on the family especially the mother who can
feel no love because of the stress that has been forced upon her heart. The family still maintains there
lifestyle as members of the upper class even though the line of money continues to get shorter and
shorter.
Money in each story is scarce, but how the characters in each story cope with this shortage is very
different. In Graham Greene s The Destructors the children know that they are not part of the upper
class but it has minimal affect to there ego or there self esteem. The need for money is not there. In
D.H. Lawrence s Rocking Horse Winner the affect is completely opposite. The family in Rocking
Horse Winner is part of the upper class but the money is not there to uphold this status for much
longer. This is known by the children but there is little or nothing they can do to help. The children

Lollapalooza and The Alternative Music Culture Essay
There have been many events in the course of music history that has shaped how what becomes
popular and what is deemed proper in terms of music we should be consuming. In 1991, Lollapalooza,
a multi city touring festival in the United States, highlighting alternative culture changed how music
was consumed from there on forward. With the popularity of the festival and the highlighting of the
alternative culture it represented the music industry took note, not long after the festival and explosion
of alternative music hit mainstream music culture. New bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in

For the purposes of this paper, alternative music culture while has a wide definition will be focused on
the music culture that was evident in Los Angeles between about 1985 until it became more
mainstream in 1991. This centre of the culture in LA is important because most of the important
record companies were and still are, based out of LA, since there was this centre of culture decision
makers it s not surprising that the city became a hot spot for musicians who wanted to become
recognized. Also important is the sheer size of LA itself, any time you get a city as large as it is you
get a wide variety of people living in a smaller area, communities come together and form various
subgroups. One subgroup evident in LA at this time was those who fell outside the dominate music
groups of the time, mainly, new wave, hip hop and hair metal (Mullen 2005). This subgroup was as
varied as those who did not fall under the alternative heading, musically they could prescribe to
anything from the funk roots of the Red Hot Chili Peppers to the 70 s influenced rock of Jane s
Addiction.
More importantly the people who fell under the alternative culture felt like their voices were not being
heard in the music that dominated the air waves at the time. It can be hypothesized that the alternative
music culture in LA grew out of a rejection of the hyper masculine, misogynistic values of the hair
metal scene that dominated LA and popular music culture for much of the 80 s. A

SAD is one of the most commonly diagnosed anxiety disorders among children. It is completely
normal for adolescents, especially in very young adolescents, to experience some degree of separation
anxiety. In comparison, separation anxiety disorder is excessive worry or anxiety that goes beyond the
expected amount for the child s developmental level. SAD is characterized by excessive anxiety
concerning separation from home or from those to whom a child is attached. While some tend to
believe that this anxiety disorder is more common among females than males, it has been determined
that SAD occurs at approximately the same rate in males and females (Eisen Schaefer, 2005).
Separation Anxiety Disorder is not permanent. It can be cured; however children with SAD are at
higher risk for the development of other anxiety disorders and depression not only in adolescence, but
in adulthood as well. Studies have shown that children who are diagnosed with SAD are much more
likely to have are much more likely to develop panic disorder, bipolar disorder, attention deficit
hyperactivity disorder and several others later in life. Studies have also shown that children diagnosed
with SAD have similar symptoms that occur among them. Primary symptoms include excessive worry
about potential harm to self or major attachment figures, frequent nightmares about separation,

  • 2. To What Extent Can quot;waverley quot; Be Called an... When asked whether Waverley is an anti Romantic novel, one must first fully understand the term Romantic and then discuss whether the characteristics of this expression are at all reflected within Waverley. One must take into consideration the historical and political conditions within society at the time and their influence on this great writer and his works. The Romantic period occurred some time from 1789 to 1832. It was a dramatic turning point in literary history as it was considered a movement away from classical traditions and provincial languages within the field of literature which had been safe yet restricting for the authors of the time. Through the portrayals within poetry of nature and controversial subjects such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scott used this to pose questions about historical focus, evolution in literature, public thinking and social opinions at the time. This is why one must understand the historical events taking place and the consequent changes of opinion and approaches to society. It is suggested that the novel Waverley revisits past pieces of Scottish literature, therefore maintaining an awareness of historical relevance. By doing this Scott is able to use the past as a setting for his writings and while doing so, he is able to reflect upon the time that Waverley was written and the proceeding eras. He was therefore able to explore history and develop an understanding of the ideology and social expectations of the time. This influential Novel was set in the Jacobite revolution in 1745, in which class clashes had begun to form between those who wished the Stewards and their society to remain and those who wanted change. This affected the message of the novel greatly. The early chapters of the novel show how, despite family allegiance Edward maintains the Tory identity and reflects steward loyalist. These political events within the novel reveal the ideological and historical importance s within the rebellion, which would shape the nation and therefore future literature. Scott used complex ideological dynamics to create a tension within this novel, comparing issues within these eras, national interests and the characters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. External Stability External Stability External stability is the government objective that seeks to achieve current account sustainability, a continued capacity to service foreign liabilities, and a foreign exchange rate; all of which are necessary to facilitate and encourage economic transactions between Australia and the rest of the world. External stability is the aim of government policy that seeks to promote stability and sustainability in Australia s external sector so that Australia can service its foreign liabilities in the medium to long run and avoid currency volatility. There are three main components to external stability: 1. A sustainable current account deficit (CAD) 2. A serviceable level of foreign liabilities 3. A stable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The primary measure of the sustainability of a country s foreign debt is the debt servicing ratio, while the primary measure of foreign equity sustainability is the equity servicing ratio. These ratios indicate the proportion of export revenue that must be spent on interest payments for foreign debt (or dividend payment on foreign equities). In the long term, extensive growth of Australia s foreign debt can lead to a sustainability problem, as the costs of servicing current debt can create difficulty when servicing future debts. If foreign debt rises faster than GDP, interest repayments and other servicing costs on this debt will begin to take a proportionately larger part of GDP, constraining economic growth and jeopardising living standards. If prolonged, this may lead to a debt trap scenario. Australia s Exchange Rate Because Australia has a floating exchange rate, the currency s value is left to be determined by the market forces of international demand and supply. There is no specific measure of exchange rate volatility. Economists instead refer to movements in Australia s bilateral exchange rate or movements in Australia s TWI to demonstrate exchange rate volatility. Since floating in 1983, Australia s exchange rate has been remarkably volatile. This has been seen especially in the past six to seven years, where the Australian dollar has appreciated substantially against the US dollar, from record lows in August 2001 of US48 cents ... • 4. Return Of Martin Guerre Analysis Throughout the book of The Return of Martin Guerre, Davis makes several claims and accusation against Bertrande that she clearly cannot back up with history facts. Her assumption that Bertrande knew that Arnaud du Tilh was not her husband the entire time and that either by explicit or trait agreement, she helped him become her husband (Davis, 44) cannot be proved with historical content. Davis hypotheses is based off of her invention, which is a product of her assertions and reasoning of her perception based off of her research. Although her perception is plausible, there is no hard evidence to back up her claim. Finlay s response to Davis book clearly addresses several concerns he finds with Davis invention. Finlay signifies his perception of Davis s book by claiming that she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Davis does not connect her assumptions to accurate history data and opposes Coras s perspective of the trial. Therefore, Finlay s argument against Davis perspective is more convincing, because he does not speculate or back up his points with non historical context, unlike Davis who uses convoluted reasoning and unsubstantiated assertions to support her thesis. The absence of the trial records makes Davis depend on Coras s account, which remains the best source for the story of Martin Guerre (Finlay, 556) primarily, because Coras witnessed the scandal making him a primary source. East Lincoln Middle School Speech Kendall Getten 12 2370 Nautical Ct Denver NC 704 657 4600 Prose 68 kendallgetten@gmail.com East Lincoln Middle School It seems that no one really understands us. By us I mean the people who live every day in fear of starving or freezing to death. People walk past us on the streets and comment on how sick we look, but they do nothing to help! They think that if they give us money we will just spend it on alcohol, cigarettes, or drugs. They don t understand that we are scared, scared of dying, and scared of having nothing to live for. I only have one thing to live for, my younger brother. I am responsible for taking care of him because i was the one who convinced him to run away from the orphanage with me. The way we have been living is hard, but we manage. I leave him every day at 8 o clock in the morning to go steal some of the sweet juicy oranges that the shopkeeper sells. I waited for the man to leave to run over and take the money. It would have worked if the man had not walked back the second i closed the register. Having his uncle, Ian, assassinated because of his involvement in MI6, a secret intelligence agency for the British Government. The details told to Alex about his uncle s death were soon to be discovered as lies when he saw Ian s car in the junkyard with windows completely shattered as if it was shot at. He was told that Ian died in a car accident because he wasn t wearing a seat belt, however this was now confirmed as a lie. The picture I chose to represent this event is from the movie, a few seconds prior to Ian s assassination by the hands of Yassen Gregorovich. Second, once Alex finds out about the mission Ian took that led to his assassination, MI6 asked for his help. • 9. Analysis Of J. Cole s The Album 2014 Forest Hill Drive... J. Cole released his album 2014 Forest Hill Drive on December 9, 2014 without any features, media marketing, or promotions (Berry). This album became significant within the music industry because of how far it strays from the lyrical composition of popular rap artists of today. Majority of rap artists in the 2000 s rely heavily on commercial producers and multiple artist features to promote the popularity of their album. Rappers often do not stray far from crude, sexual and misogynistic lyrics just to gain fame and cash flow for their label. As a hip hop artist, J. Cole manages to gain more success than any rap album with no features. J. Cole writes an honest, and nostalgic album that speaks further into his thoughts on current social issues and his personal life story. He shines a light on his insecurities and gets his audience to feel a special connection with him as an artist. J. Cole managed to create the only album in rap and hip hop history to go platinum without any features while transcending development of pop culture within the rap industry. Hip Hop developed as an urban underground movement during the 1970 s in South Bronx, New York and when this subculture first surfaced, the terms hip hop and rap music were used interchangeably (Ralph). Since the beginning of the genres, majority of music enthusiasts felt more connected to rap, and it gained commercial popularity more rapidly. Hip hop remained underground, and artists like J. • 11. Analysis Of As You Like It As You Like It , is a Shakespearean comedy that is believed to have been written around the 1600 s. This play holds onto many strong motifs throughout the entire play. One of the most obvious motifs would have to be the concept of exile. Many of the characters in the play have been intimidated away from their homes, while others left voluntarily to live in the forest of Arden. This separation from their homes in the court aids in helping Shakespeare s major themes come alive. The major themes evident in Act 4 Scene 3 is the malleability of humans through experience, the effects of love, and a comparison of city life to country life. It is important to note the malleability of human nature through an individual s life experience. According to some psychologists, what is built in [to humans] is this capacity to learn and change according to the world [they] find [themselves] in (Dweck, par. 3). This is supported in Shakespeare s play through the character of Oliver. At his home in the court, Oliver finds himself blessed with the riches and power that his father handed down to him. This inheritance is known as the right of primogeniture. The system in which a father s riches and title is handed down to the eldest son, leaving the rest of the siblings with nothing. It was a look, almost, of pale surprise; the dark eyes were so fixed to the world that no move escaped them. Her dress was white and it whispered. Footballers use these energy systems in varying degrees relative to their position. This is hard on the family especially the mother who can feel no love because of the stress that has been forced upon her heart. The family still maintains there lifestyle as members of the upper class even though the line of money continues to get shorter and shorter. Money in each story is scarce, but how the characters in each story cope with this shortage is very different. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the purposes of this paper, alternative music culture while has a wide definition will be focused on the music culture that was evident in Los Angeles between about 1985 until it became more mainstream in 1991. This centre of the culture in LA is important because most of the important record companies were and still are, based out of LA, since there was this centre of culture decision makers it s not surprising that the city became a hot spot for musicians who wanted to become recognized. Also important is the sheer size of LA itself, any time you get a city as large as it is you get a wide variety of people living in a smaller area, communities come together and form various subgroups. One subgroup evident in LA at this time was those who fell outside the dominate music groups of the time, mainly, new wave, hip hop and hair metal (Mullen 2005). This subgroup was as varied as those who did not fall under the alternative heading, musically they could prescribe to anything from the funk roots of the Red Hot Chili Peppers to the 70 s influenced rock of Jane s Addiction. More importantly the people who fell under the alternative culture felt like their voices were not being heard in the music that dominated the air waves at the time. It can be hypothesized that the alternative music culture in LA grew out of a rejection of the hyper masculine, misogynistic values of the hair metal scene that dominated LA and popular music culture for much of the 80 s.
