Psy 305 Final Paper
Part 1: Please respond to each question briefly and concisely, but as completely as you can.
What is (are) the purpose(s) of research? Explain your answer.
Research allows us to better understand what is unknown, how a human thinks, why a dog barks when
they hear a stranger approaching or that the earth is round and not flat. Research allows us to find
answers to the questions we have. Research attempts to both understand and define. There are three
kinds of research; Explanatory; Exploratory and Descriptive research. Explanatory, Exploratory and
Descriptive research define what research is; Research is the attempt to explain, explore and describe
(Neuman, 2006, 24).

Sensitivity: The ability for the scale to measure both the response and stimuli without being affected.
It is possible for a measure to have one and not all of the above criteria s. If it lacks one of the
measurements the chances of the study/research lacking credibility are higher.
What is different about attitude measurement compared to other phenomena we might study? What
does this require us to do differently in defining variables compared to the measurement of other
phenomena? Is there any characteristic of the survey method that makes this problem easier to
overcome?
Attitude measurement is when a research is studying the reaction of participants to a certain
phenomena; while when studying a phenomena you are attempting to explore and describe it. When
measuring a phenomena the variables are clear and known while with attitude measurement they are
not. In order to overcome the lack of control over the variable within attitude measurements you can
create a clear responses that respondents choose from (Ex: unsatisfactory, satisfactory,

The results are consistent with the notion that both groups exhibit different development of brain
networks associated with the control of executive functions.
Dr. Tom Schweizer, a neuroscientist in St. Michael Hospital in Canada studied the effects of
bilingualism in patients with Alzheimer s disease. He chose a sample of patients with similar
background, education, and disease cognitive detriment. Half were monolingual and half were
bilingual. Using CT scans and cognitive evaluation he found that even though bilingual patients
showed twice as much atrophy, they performed as well in the cognitive test as their monolingual
counterparts with less atrophy. This may be explained by the fact that bilingual individuals have
developed enhanced neural networks or pathways, also called neural reserve, when switching from
one language to another or suppressing one language from another. Dr. Schweizer explains that though
bilingualism delays Alzheimer s progression for about five years it does not prevent it.
Alladi, et. Al. in 2013 in an effort to identify the association between bilingualism and age at onset of
dementia and its subtypes ran the largest study with case records of 648 patients with dementia (391 of
them bilingual) The age at onset of first symptoms was

Mississippi History and the Delta Blues Essay
Mississippi history is a sad history of slavery and oppression. It is a history of racism and refusal to let
go of segregationist ideals. Mississippi history is enough to give many the blues. In fact, the Blues
style music originated in Mississippi and gravitated outward from there. .Mississippi history and Blues
history are intertwined. Delta Blues is a blues style that originated in the Mississippi Delta and
influenced many musicians. Another musical art form, Jazz may be considered an offspring from the
Blues and also started in the South. There are many Blues musicians and singers that come from
Mississippi or have become linked to Mississippi for various reasons. Bessie Smith, Charley Patton,

Smith was unlucky in her marriage but found a stable relationship with Richard Morgan with whom
she was traveling when she died in a car accident in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
Charley Patton is known as the father of the delta Blue. His official year of birth is unknown but is
speculated to be between 1887, 1891. He wasn t born in the Mississippi Delta however, his family
moved there and he spent much of his life there. I believe his Blues came from the fact he was of
mixed heritage having black, Cherokee Nation and certainly not in the dominant whit culture. His
family moved to the Dockery Plantation which was renowned for its favorable treatment of it
sharecroppers and lenience on the musical indulgences of its residents. At the Dockery Plantation,
Patton and other gave birth to the Delta Blues. He learned from a man named Henry Sloan who played
what is viewed as an early Blues style. He influenced many other artists at the Dockery plantation
including younger protégé s like Robert Johnson and Howling Wolf. Although Patton as of diminutive
stature, he had a gritty, growly voice of a much bigger man which is said to have influenced the
distinctive raspy voice of Wolf.
The moniker Muddy Waters was given to him by his grandmother who was observed that he loved
playing in the less than clear water of the creek near their home. He was influenced early by Robert
Johnson. As

Muhammad Ali Biography Essay
Muhammad Ali was born on January 17, 1942 In Louisville. One day Ali s bike had been stolen.
Someone had suggested that he should report it to a nearby police. Ali reported it to a traffic cop
named, Joe Martin. Joe ran a boxing gym in the basement of the convention hall. He took Ali to the
basement. Right when Ali got there he was in awe of all that the boxers were doing. The sights and
sounds and smell of the boxing gym excited him so much that he almost forgot about his bike. Right
then at that moment was when Muhammad Ali discovered boxing.
The world s undisputed world champion of boxing, Muhammad Ali, did not let his race stop him from
reaching his goals of becoming the best. One of his big obstacles was Ali getting drafting into the ...

Fortunately, some of the local Louisville aristocracy had noticed Ali s success and taken an interest in
him (Conklin 26 27). One of these people were, Billy Reynolds, who would inherit the Reynolds
aluminum foil future. He became a supporter of sorts to the ambitious young boxer. After High
School, Reynolds saw Ali s talents and was interested. He offered him to let him train with him for no
money and to give him a job so he would earn money as well.
In 1967, after twenty years since Jackie Robinson and Joe Louis. Ali had set the standard for behavior
for the JRstar black athlete (Conklin 14). Ali also got married to Sonji Roi, a beautiful cocktail
waitress and model. She was a year older than Ali and had an eight year old son from a previous
marriage. The marriage only lasted less than a year because, Roi refused to listen to the Muslim strict
dress and dining codes. In 1970, when Ali got his boxing license back, a outspoken segregationist tried
to block it (Conklin 74). That day he declared a statewide day of mourning.
Muhammad Ali is still here today. Unfortunately, in 1984 Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson s
syndrome (Conklin 91). It is a neurological condition similar to Parkinson s disease but without the
disease s degenerative pattern. After that, Ali rarely talked about boxing. His days as a boxer were
behind him. But the sport in general will always be with him

The Diagology Of Proactive Motor Health Monitoring
Abstract Key words: Motor faults, vibration analysis, bearings, sensor fusion, Data acquisition,
condition monitoring Electrical pump is widely used in the oil gas production as an efficient and
reliable tool at high production volumes and greater depths (Breit and Ferrier 2008). Globally, around
95 percent of oil wells required artificial lift systems to pump the underground oil to the surface as the
wellbore pressure is too low (Schultz, Tibbetts et al. 2015). Among these systems, 20 25 percent
deployed electrical pumps to achieve that process (Adesanwo 2016). However, due to the harsh

Dr. Meserow Is A Mentally Competent Woman
On November 23, 1993, Doe was seen by an obstetrician, Dr. James Meserow, at the St. Joseph s
Hospital in Chicago. This was the first time Doe was seen by Dr. Meserow, but she had been receiving
regular prenatal care throughout her pregnancy. Upon giving Doe the usual check up, he determined
from a series of tests that the baby was under duress due to an issue with the placenta. At this point, it
is important to recognize that Doe is a mentally competent woman carrying her first child, and the
fetus is currently around 35 weeks. It also important to recognize that Dr. Meserow is a board certified
obstetrician/gynecologist. Dr. Meserow informs both Doe and her husband of the diagnosis and highly
recommends either an immediate cesarean section or to induce labor in order to prevent any further
potential damage to the fetus due to the lack of oxygen from the compromised placenta. Doe refuses
both of the recommendations based on her religious convictions that God will heal her child and keep
it safe from any harm, and will, therefore, wait to have a natural childbirth.
On December 8, 1993, 14 days after the recommendation of a cesarean section or induced labor, Doe
is examined again by Dr. Meserow, and he is still holding fast to his diagnosis. Doe continues to state
that she refuses on the grounds of religious reasons. However, Doe agrees to be seen by another doctor
the following day. That same day, December 8, 1993, Dr. Meserow and the St. Joseph s Hospital call

University of Phoenix Terry Norris January 20, 2008 Project Plan for Whitbread World Sailboat Race
This paper analyzes the Whitbread World Sailboat Race case scenario presented in chapter 9 in the
Gray and Larson text, Project Management: the Managerial Process. The Whitbread World Sailboat
Race is a nine month round the world race. Bjorn Ericksen has been chosen by his country to head up
the project of getting a boat and a team ready for the race. The objectives of the project are to design,
build and test a new vessel and select and train a crew capable of winning the race. The objectives
must be completed within 45 weeks, the start of the race, and with a planned budget of $3.2 million.
Initial projections show that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Analyzing crash times and costs we see that if each activity were crashed the project could be finished
in 42 weeks, however, the budget would skyrocket to $4.952 million. Therefore, the team will need to
analyze the project network and its critical path to determine which individual activities can be
crashed while maintaining the integrity of the budget and the duration of the project. Plan to Reduce
Project Duration Initial projections show that the current schedule will take 50 weeks to finish with a
final budget estimate of $3.152 million. Although the project estimate comes in under budget, the time
frame for completion extends beyond the acceptable 45 weeks. Before deciding which activities
should be crashed, Bjorn and his team first need to have a clear understanding of the project s
priorities. To do this the team has first defined the project s scope and decided to develop a project
priority matrix. Defining the project scope sets the stage for developing a plan and its primary purpose
is to define as clearly as possible the deliverables and to focus project plans (Gray Larson, 2005). The
team has stated the project s objectives, defined deliverables, established milestones and technical
requirements, which help define the project s scope and establish priorities. With the imposed
deadline, completion of the project on time should be the project s top priority and thus becomes the

The Slingshot Is A Weapon Used By People For Generations

Background Research.
The slingshot is a weapon used by people for generations. It was originally just a strapped sling used
to propel rocks. It usually was used as a lightweight hunting weapon and sometimes for defense
(Yoder.) People had used it by rapidly spinning the string and letting it go, sending the rock flying at
high speeds. It wasn t until the mid 1800 s that the traditional slingshot we all know of today came
into play (Yoder.) It was a y shaped stick with two elastic bands tied between two endpoints at either
of the upper ends of the Y. It is a seemingly simple machine, where all you have to do to be able to use
it was point, pull, and release. This is what made them ideal for children to play with in the late 1800 s
and early 1900 s. However, slingshots are not as simple as people originally thought. Slingshots have
a lot of scientific and mathematical concepts that are the reason it was such a useful weapon back in
the day and a great form of entertainment today.
The history of the slingshot is not what most people expect. As stated earlier, the earliest form of the
slingshot is the strapped sling. One of the earliest accounts of a single sling being used was in The
Bible s David and Goliath, where David slung a rock at Goliath. Sadly, this was highly inefficient due
to its lack of accuracy and even though it is light, you had to spin it around to pick up enough speed to
be able to

How Does Smith Use Satire In A Modest Proposal
Jonathan Smith s A Modest Proposal uses certain literary strategies throughout his essay to portray his
opinions on the condition of the Irish Catholics. At first glance, his arguments and use of language
may seem quite ridiculous and even horrifying. However, his true intention does not seem to be to
convey a straightforward opinion. Instead, Smith employs a more ironic and satirical tone throughout
his writing in order to portray . Jonathan Smith expresses his thoughts in his writing with satirical
technique through his discussions containing exaggerated descriptions, economic reasoning, and
parodies of political messages. Smith s proposal is so distasteful that it would seem offensive;
especially during the time period in which it was written. However, this was done in order to show
how ridiculous and offensive the rich English Protestants seem with their abuses on Irish Catholics.
One such example of the mockery he uses is when he suggests that, this food will be somewhat dear,
and therefore very proper for the landlords, who as they have already devoured most of the parents,
seem to have the best title to the children, (Smith). Smith seems to be fully aware of how offensive he
sounds and wants to have his offensive plan associated with the rich in order to convey that the nature
of the rich is just as distasteful as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His proposal is so absurd that his attempt to support it with practical reasons just increases its
absurdity and irony. He does this very frequently throughout his writing, such as in his discussion of,

manufacture, (Smith). The irony in this is contained in the fact that he is averting from writing about
the more brutal consequences of using infants for food consumption and only focusing on the benefits
when the safety of people should be placed on higher priority than

Determinism In Western Religion
Last quarter I had finished an ethics class and we had a discussion and assignment about God. If he is
all seeing and all knowing, then do we really have free will. In our book, Ethics: Theory and Practice
and on page ninety three there is a paragraph that states, such a being seems to be very strange indeed
especially in view of the emphasis the three major Western religions place upon salvation if it
predetermines that some humans will be good and some will be bad, and then punishes and rewards
them for something over which they have no control! Such a characterization of the supernatural being
s relationship with its creatures certainly does not square with the image of an all merciful, all just
being that the three religions also accept. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no conclusive proof or argument that indicates that this theory is anything but one based upon
very weak assumptions indeed. Now I am not Christian, due to questions like these and various other
reasons. I personally identify as a Buddhist. I personally do not understand how there can be free will
when you are supposed to follow the Bible written all by God himself and only men read it and are
able to interrupt it. I also would like to point out that if there is an all knowing God would it not be
considered the will of God? Instead of free will would you not have to be following the bible and the
will of God blindly? Hard determinism essentially maintains that if all events are caused, then there
can be no such thing as freedom or free will. That is, if you trace causes back far enough in history or
in any person s life, you will find that the basic causes are not within human control. Hard
determinists are not saying exactly the same thing as the fatalists here: They do not maintain that
humans cannot change the

Von Willebrand disease (VWD) is a genetic disorder that will occur when an individual has limiting

be associated with having low plasma levels. It is one of the world s most common bleeding disorders.
It is so common, that it can be found all over the world, it is known to affect 1% of the world s

even know they have it. But, when someone who is suffering from VWD starts bleeding, they will
undergo severe bleeding. Just because an individual might not present with symptoms, doesn t mean
they won t suffer from the severe bleeding consequences. This lack of knowledge is due to the fact
that the symptoms of VMD are so mild. This factor can either be missing or it can just be defective.
VWF is known as a clotting protein (https://www.hemophilia.org/Bleeding Disorders/Types of

Fall Of The Jin Dynasty
Following the fall of the Hans dynasty in 220 C.E., China divided into three separate kingdoms known
as the Three Kingdom Era. Powerful families and warlords who were in a constant battle against each
other led the north, south, and west. In addition to these battles, disease and natural disasters also took
an extensive toll on China. The battles continued for years and then in the year 280 C.E., a general
under the Jin dynasty from the north managed to defeat the south and west for a short time. The Jin
dynasty produced 25 sons who after his death began to battle each other for the power to control the
dynasty. One of the sons made a disastrous mistake when he asked Turkic nomads named Xiongnu to

during the Age of Disunity. The years 220 589 C.E. was known as the Age of Disunity in which
Nomads were constantly invading China. In the midst of all the turmoil, Buddhism spread throughout
China. During the Hans dynasty, Confucianism was the philosophy. After the fall of the Hans dynasty

Majority of the patients with TMD have relatively mild or infrequent symptoms which may improve
on their own within weeks or months with basic home therapy. Following simple remedies like eating
soft foods, applying ice or moist heat, and avoiding extreme jaw movements may aid in easing
symptoms. According to the NIH, because more studies are needed on the safety and effectiveness of
most treatments for jaw joint and muscle disorders, experts strongly recommend using the most
conservative, reversible treatments possible. Although TMJ disorders have become persistent, most
patients still do not need any aggressive types of treatment.

Temporomandibular disorder usually is a dysfunction involving anatomical structures like the
temporomandibular joint, muscles/ligaments/tendons surrounding the joint, structures surrounding the
joint such as the ears, neck, cervical spine, teeth, face, ligaments, nerves, and blood vessels
surrounding the joint, mouth, and teeth. TMJ disorder either impacts the joint itself, or the muscles
responsible for occlusion and jaw mobility. When there is an imbalance within any of the structures in
and around the temporomandibular joint there is a potential risk for a TMJ disorder (1). The best
imaging modality for viewing the TMJ and the disc is an MRI where a normal disc will appear the
same on both T1 and T2 weighted images. In cases of acute disc mobility there will be an increased
signal intensity on T1 images (2). Hard tissue imaging can be used to asses osteoarthritis (3). So when
there is a derangement of the muscles surrounding the joint, the disc itself, the bones forming the
joints or the tendons connecting them, which can be visualized with an MRI or an X ray and when the
condition is accompanied by clinical symptoms like pain, swelling or clicking noises, we can conclude

Shark Finning Is The Removal Of The Shark
Every year there are thousands and millions of sharks dying in the ocean simply, because of a soup?
Not a soup that makes you feel or look any younger, nor does it cure a sickness, but because of a
delicacy. Sharks are at a high demand mainly in East Asia. Shark Finning is the removal of the shark s
fins while they are still alive and throwing the rest of its body back in the ocean where it takes a
painful death. Seeing that sharks are on top of the ecosystem, their population is also decreasing.
Given the way they are being caught, which is clearly a form of animal cruelty, therefore the practice
of shark finning must be banned.
The shark fin soup was said to be created in China during the Sung Dynasty (AD 986), where the
emperor used the dish as a symbol of class and wealth. While catching sharks were difficult
throughout that time, it made the soup even more of a popular delicacy. The soup is a thickened broth
made with either chicken or ham broth. The price of each bowl varies from $100 to $1000 depending
on the form and elegance of shark fin served. However it is served, it is a symbolic way of showing
stature.
Now a days, it is being served during special occasions, like traditional Asian dinner banquets,
weddings, or even at restaurants. It has become almost as easy as buying a turkey for thanksgiving,
but only this seafood dish has no taste and no nutritional value. With the easy access that the
fishermen s have, sharks are being over fished and Poachers are

Public Administration Theory
Abstract
There are two main theories in public administration that apply to Kristin Larnder s case study. They
are the bureaucracy theory and the client responsiveness theory. In this paper these theories will be
discussed in detail as to how they relate to public administration theory. The internal and external
environment relationships of Kristin s case will also be discussed. Public administration affected this
case study greatly and there were many factors that could have been prevented, but instead led to

Rose Ryan was granted a restraining order against Michael Cartier, but it took the police over a month
to pick Cartier up and arrest him. Cartier was in and out of mental hospitals on several occasions and
finally he was sentenced to prison for a year, but only had to serve 6 months. He still stalked Rose
from prison and he had some of the inmates write her obscene letters. Cartier was released from prison
on good behavior, but immediately began violating his probation by injecting a vial of blood into a
ketchup bottle in a restaurant. He should have served 6 months in jail for that incident and a burglary
incident, but the charges were dropped and he only had to serve 49 days in jail (Stillman, 2010).
While dating Kristin, Cartier continued to harass Rose Ryan. Cartier was ordered to appear in the
Boston Municipal court for violating his probation and for contacting Ryan while he was still in jail.
Instead of being sentenced to serve the year in jail that he received for attacking Rose Ryan with
scissors, he was ordered to attend an anger management class called, Alternatives for Violence. It was
a six week class that was strictly educational. It did not involve any type of therapy. It taught people
how to handle stress without using violence. Cartier showed up for the first class, skipped the second
class, and then his probation was revoked for skipping the class. Yet again Cartier had to appear in
court

Mormon Baptism
A fascinating and difficult issue has emerged from a uniquely Mormon practice that stems from a
religious fascination with genealogy. In fact, if a Mormon visits Salt Lake City, they are able to take
advantage of a vast genealogical research facility at no cost.
The practice in question, however, is not genealogical research, but the baptism of the dead. In the
Mormon faith, the dead who were not able to discover the Mormon faith during their lifetimes for
whatever reason such as, for instance, that they lived before the revelation to Joseph Smith are able to
be brought into the faith by the proxy baptism of a living Mormon. The practice must be performed in
a Mormon temple.
People of other faiths sometimes take issue with this practice, considering it to be ... Show more

In fact, many Holocaust victims were appearing on the index, sparking outrage among the Jewish
community.
The Mormon church met with members of the Jewish community, agreeing to cease the baptism of
Jewish Holocaust victims, in 1995. Then, however, it was discovered that names of Holocaust victims
were still appearing on the index of posthumous baptisms into the 2000s.
The main thrust of the article, however, is not Jews but Catholics. The Catholic Church, a well
organized religious body if ever there was one, sent notice to all local parish churches that no
genealogical information about its members was to be shared with the Genealogical Society in Utah,
the informational branch of the LDS church dealing with such matters.
The question of posthumous baptism is not the only such issue, according to the article. Popes have
been married in the afterlife by Mormons, against the celibacy imposed within Catholicism. Other
perceived offenses against other faiths have taken place, as

Islamic Regime Analysis
Because of the oppressiveness of the Islamic Government, the Regime not only wanted to control its
citizens in public, but also in private. Marjane Satrapi faces this oppressive controlling nature of the
regime throughout the novel, along with everyone else in Iran at the time. To control its citizens at all
times, the Regime regulates clothing, takes control of private space, and enforces these rules with
strict punishments. Punishments can include losing limbs, extreme torture, or even death. (Satrapi
109/2) The only way to avoid these punishments if you were caught, was to pay off the officers

The Regime tried to control both public and private space for its citizens, by banning certain products,
banning parties, regulating clothing, and not allowing PDA. All products that resembled western were
banned and they enforced almost all rules with torture, death, and fines. The regime also had to control
its citizens, and it did this by rounding up all of the people who were publically opposed to the
Regime, and executed them all completely. The government was based on scaring the people,
oppressive laws, and torture like enforcement; this is what really pushed its citizens away. However,
the enforcement of rules for the public and private space of citizens was the real catalyst for
demonstrations, the divide between the Regime and its citizens, and the revolution all together.
Without the enforcement and establishment of these rules, the Iranian people would not have
experienced the depressing environment of the Regime. Satrapi compares the peacefulness and

When I studied power electronic circuits such as: ac to dc uncontrolled and controlled rectifiers,
voltage controllers, converters, dc to ac inverters and power supplies, I decided to build my career on
Power Systems and Power Electronics which prompted me to take more core courses and lab works in
electrical and electronics filed such as Control Engineering, Digital Signal Processing, Advanced
Electronics and Communications. I also took several courses on: Electromagnetic (ETE 361),
Semiconductors (ETE 411) and VLSI Design (CSE 435) to achieve a comprehensive knowledge over
my aspired field. Today an electrical engineer needs to be conversant both at software and hardware
levels. So I took programming language courses on C, Java and Database management with projects.
Profuse availability of research works and projects in my desired fields in Michigan Technological

The Cold Side Of The Government And All Their Big Cover Ups
There are many mysteries in this world and one of the big ones is the government and all their big
cover ups. The government has many secrets that many people are absolutely clueless about what the
government is doing with all of our money while doing illegal things that a treaty even said you
cannot do. At this moment, too many people that live in our country think the government is straight
up with everything and they don t lie to us at all. The number one reason of that is many people are
still on their feet because of the government and what they do for the people . The cold hard truth is
they lie and don t tell us anything. They may seem like nice people on the outside and what they say to

So, the government has been hiding and secretly doing many things and has yet to tell us and these
few are little compared to what they have done to us. They have been flying around the world with a
reusable unmanned spacecraft, used for many things other than flying, the nasty CIA and what they
have been working on since the start of the Cold War, and finally the USA s new and definitely
improved rail gun that can take down ships in a snap, and what it actually is.
First, the government is stabbing us in the back because they are going to end the world someday by
the looks of the killing spacecraft. Some people may think that it is just for testing and they are not
sure what they will actually do with the spacecraft. Lots of evidence points out that the USA is making
a deadly weapon that has the power to easily take out underground bunkers and whole cities in fact.
First, we start it off when the USA started making the plane and nobody knew about it. It was just
another one of the government experiments that can be deadly in a heartbeat. Now, many people may
call me crazy but, it is the scary truth. There is a satellite in orbit as we speak and the purpose of it is
truly scary. What the purpose of it and this is the scary and devastating part is video games are truly

Object And Process Modeling, And Stragies For System...
System Analysis and System Requirements Object Modeling, Process Modeling, and Strategies for
System Analysis and Problem Solving April 6, 2005 Object Modeling A class can be described as a
collection of objects of similar type. These objects often share the same attributes, operations,
methods, relationships, and semantics. Additionally, once a class is defined any number of objects can
be created and associated to that class. For example, beagles and boxers represent different breeds (i.e.
instances) of dogs which also can be viewed as a distinct class. Furthermore, defining classes, as part
of the object modeling process is not that different from the traditional system analysis process, which
seeks to achieve a goal (i.e. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, to organizing the flow of data throughout a system, logical models also provide means of
bridging the gap of communicating information to end users in a non technical manner while also
preserving the requirements. Finally, logical models encourage creativity and reduce the risk of
missing requirements, which are normally missed because of pre occupation with technical details.
Like the logical processing model a context data flow diagram defines the scope and boundary for the
system and project. Because the scope of any project is always subject to change; the context diagram
is also subject to constant change. A context diagram is referred to as being another representation an
environmental model. Finally, the initial project scope can be defined using a context diagram. A
project s scope is important in that it defines what aspect of the business a system or application is
supposed to support. An event diagram represents the final area of my discussion of the Process
Modeling method. An event diagram represents a context diagram that focuses on the inputs, outputs,
and data store interactions for a single event. In addition, most event diagrams are also representative
of a single process, which can be referenced back to the event identified for a decomposition diagram.
Event diagrams therefore are valuable for identifying and addressing event driven factors, which when

Alexander Hamilton s Influence On American History
Alexander Hamilton recently rose to prominence again because of the hit Broadway musical
Hamilton, and the book Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. Previously Hamilton s role as
Founding Father has been diminished because he never became president, and he also experienced
political scandals that were detrimental to his career. However, his lack of prominence as a Founding
Father, has not weakened his actual impact on United States history and political system. Alexander
Hamilton had an immense impact on American history, through both obvious and subtle means, that
have resulted in the government and political system we have today. Some obvious contributions that
he made to the current political system, include the position of Secretary of Treasury, which set
precedent, along with his establishment of a national bank. Earlier than that, he was instrumental in
the creation of the Constitution as we know it today, and also helped the Constitution pass in various
states. Some more subtle ways that he has influenced American history include his contributions to the
party system, as well as his role in getting Thomas Jefferson elected as the third president of the
United States. Part of the reason that Hamilton is not remembered as well as other Founding Fathers,
is that he does not fit nicely into any political boxes, or schools of thought. As an immigrant from the
Caribbean, he was a poster boy for the American Dream , and his humble ... Show more content on

Transformation of Hero in Raiders of Lost Ark
Raiders of the Lost Ark is the 1981 film that follows renowned archeologist and professor Indiana
Jones as he races against time and Nazis to uncover one of the greatest treasures believed to be in
existence, the Ark of the Covenant. In this film, Indiana Jones fulfills the role of the hero and as such
must fulfill certain tasks that will prove his heroic qualities. In The Hero s Journey of Self
Transformation: Models of Higher Development from Mythology, David Hartman and Diane
Zimbermoff explore the traits and characteristics that define a hero and demonstrate the
transformation that his or her ego will undergo in order to become a more complete person. In Raiders
of the Lost Ark, Professor Indiana Jones is recruited by the United States government after they
intercept Nazi radio transmissions referencing Jones mentor, Dr. Abner Ravenwood. It is at this time
that it is revealed that Dr. Ravenwood was a renowned Ark of the Covenant scholar and that he spent
his entire life attempting to find this mythological treasure. Despite Jones insistence that he agrees to
find the treasure before the Nazis get to it simply because of its historic value and states that he does
not believe in the supernatural. By the end of the film, Jones initial beliefs are completely transformed
as he witnesses, first hand, the power of the Ark of the Covenant; after witnessing what the Ark does

Heart Of Darkness Irony Essay
1. The Dark Heart of Africa and the Roman Empire both offer examples of irony and foreshadowing
throughout Marlow s journey. While searching for Kurtz, Marlow travels deeper into the jungle
getting darker and darker as he goes. Marlow references the Roman Empire and how it came to
Europe and took over acres of empty land changing immensity of life (Page 3). This foreshadows
what happens to the natives in the Heart of Africa. The European traders come into the natives land
and exploit them to obtain ivory and make a profit. The Europeans go in and change the lives of the
Natives, just like the Romans changed Europe. Talking about how the Romans had no idea what they
were up against foreshadows the fact that Marlow had no idea what was in store for him in Africa
(Page 3). The statement They were man enough to face the darkness foreshadows that Marlow does
indeed know what darkness looks like and the kind of person you have to be to experience it. The
irony between the Roman Empire and the Heart of Africa is that they are one in the same. In this
situation, Marlow is the Romans. He is exploring a new land (the Heart of Africa) with no idea of the
dangers and darkness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conrad s decision to keep people and places unnamed gives the story an ominous feel. By only giving
people a named based on their profession, it leads to a disconnect between the reader and the
character. Conrad wants the reader to think of the character based off of what they are, nothing more.
This adds to the darkness of the novel, because it is easier to see the characters as evil when you know
nothing about them. The places with one name show generality. All of Europe was colonizing Africa
at the time and by keeping Marlow s country a secret it adds to the wonder of the story. Keeping
names general allows the reader to come up with their own ideas about what each person/place is like.
Keeping names ambiguous allows the reader to relate these specific events to their lives and

What Is The True Meaning Of The Wu-Tang Clan s Song Triumph
The atomic bomb of a song Triumph by the Wu Tang Clan is a rap song released back in 1997. While
the song has no chorus, nor any real plot or unified meaning, it consists of nine verses from the Wu
Tang members with an intro from the rapper, Ol Dirty Bastard also featuring Cappadonna. Each of the
nine verses contains many or some figurative devices such as similes and metaphors while
maintaining a good amount of rhymes throughout its lyrics. One of the interesting facts about the song
Triumph was that it was one of the very few 6 minute songs that featured on the radio at the time, even
though the limit was usually three minutes and fifteen seconds when it came to hip hop or any other
genre. The first verse is sung by Inspectah Deck,

During 1941 through 1945 a war had occurred in the Pacific between the Americans and the Japanese
this war was called The Pacific Theater. This war was also being fought during the duration of another
World War against Germany and Japan but on May 8, 1945 Germany surrendered to the allied powers
leaving Japan to still be dealt with. However Japan would not surrender even after the major battles
between the Americans and Japanese in Iwo Jima and Okinawa. The Americans then came to
conclusion to try and get to a new military weapon which then started the ManHattan Project. The
Manhattan Project established a new powerful military weapon known as the Atomic Bomb. This new

Document 5 it talks about how the production of the Atomic Bomb was also being searched for by the

attacked Pearl Harbor without warning, those who treated prisoners of war with little sympathy and
pity, and those who caused international war crimes. The Americans were able to stop the war with the
Atomic Bombing and put an end to the empire which had done unjustly acts upon the war. These acts
that were caused by the Japanese were also prevented from happening even further upon into the war.
The Japanese would also do Island Hopping which they would specifically attack enemy islands and
take over them to create a Pacific Empire. The Americans had also stopped this by using the Atomic
Bomb to make them surrender. If the Americans have not created the Atomic Bomb it would have

Dgs Is More Advantageous Than Pbg Or Ebg Structures
DGS is more advantageous than PBG or EBG structures:
(1) For implementing EBG structures, a very large area is required to implement the periodic pattern
and it is also very difficult to define the unit element of EBG structure whereas DGS structures has
properties similar to EBG and the geometry of DGS can be one or very few etched structures which is
very simpler and also does not require large area for implementation of it.
(2) DGS can be easily designed and implemented. It has higher precision with rectangular shaped
defect structures. Therefore it is very good option to extend its practical applications. In my project, I
have designed and simulated microstrip patch antenna at operating frequency 2.4GHz using HFSS
software .It has Substrate (FR4) having dielectric constants of 4.4.I have designed single patch
antenna without DGS, 2x1 array antenna and 4x1 array antenna without DGS ,4x1 array antenna with
DGS (Dumbbell shaped , Double Circular shaped, E shaped) and analyze the results. I analyze that I

One approach was to study whether exposing a young child to two languages caused delay in language development and language confusion. Studies revealed that the optimal age for dual language development was before age five. Children were not delayed in phonetic contrasts acquisition. The results are consistent with the notion that both groups exhibit different development of brain networks associated with the control of executive functions. Dr. Tom Schweizer, a neuroscientist in St. Michael Hospital in Canada studied the effects of bilingualism in patients with Alzheimer s disease. He chose a sample of patients with similar background, education, and disease cognitive detriment. Half were monolingual and half were bilingual. Using CT scans and cognitive evaluation he found that even though bilingual patients showed twice as much atrophy, they performed as well in the cognitive test as their monolingual counterparts with less atrophy. This may be explained by the fact that bilingual individuals have developed enhanced neural networks or pathways, also called neural reserve, when switching from one language to another or suppressing one language from another. Dr. Schweizer explains that though bilingualism delays Alzheimer s progression for about five years it does not prevent it. Alladi, et. Al. in 2013 in an effort to identify the association between bilingualism and age at onset of dementia and its subtypes ran the largest study with case records of 648 patients with dementia (391 of them bilingual) The age at onset of first symptoms was ... The Diagology Of Proactive Motor Health Monitoring Abstract Key words: Motor faults, vibration analysis, bearings, sensor fusion, Data acquisition, condition monitoring Electrical pump is widely used in the oil gas production as an efficient and reliable tool at high production volumes and greater depths (Breit and Ferrier 2008). Globally, around 95 percent of oil wells required artificial lift systems to pump the underground oil to the surface as the wellbore pressure is too low (Schultz, Tibbetts et al. 2015). Among these systems, 20 25 percent deployed electrical pumps to achieve that process (Adesanwo 2016). This was the first time Doe was seen by Dr. Meserow, but she had been receiving regular prenatal care throughout her pregnancy. Upon giving Doe the usual check up, he determined from a series of tests that the baby was under duress due to an issue with the placenta. At this point, it is important to recognize that Doe is a mentally competent woman carrying her first child, and the fetus is currently around 35 weeks. It also important to recognize that Dr. Meserow is a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist. Dr. Meserow informs both Doe and her husband of the diagnosis and highly recommends either an immediate cesarean section or to induce labor in order to prevent any further potential damage to the fetus due to the lack of oxygen from the compromised placenta. Doe refuses both of the recommendations based on her religious convictions that God will heal her child and keep it safe from any harm, and will, therefore, wait to have a natural childbirth. On December 8, 1993, 14 days after the recommendation of a cesarean section or induced labor, Doe is examined again by Dr. Meserow, and he is still holding fast to his diagnosis. The Whitbread World Sailboat Race is a nine month round the world race. Bjorn Ericksen has been chosen by his country to head up the project of getting a boat and a team ready for the race. Plan to Reduce Project Duration Initial projections show that the current schedule will take 50 weeks to finish with a final budget estimate of $3.152 million. Although the project estimate comes in under budget, the time frame for completion extends beyond the acceptable 45 weeks. Before deciding which activities should be crashed, Bjorn and his team first need to have a clear understanding of the project s priorities. To do this the team has first defined the project s scope and decided to develop a project priority matrix. Defining the project scope sets the stage for developing a plan and its primary purpose is to define as clearly as possible the deliverables and to focus project plans (Gray Larson, 2005). The team has stated the project s objectives, defined deliverables, established milestones and technical requirements, which help define the project s scope and establish priorities. • 11. The Slingshot Is A Weapon Used By People For Generations Chris Walker Martha Kinsler Chemistry Honors 28 November 2015 Background Research. The slingshot is a weapon used by people for generations. It was originally just a strapped sling used to propel rocks. It usually was used as a lightweight hunting weapon and sometimes for defense (Yoder.) People had used it by rapidly spinning the string and letting it go, sending the rock flying at high speeds. It wasn t until the mid 1800 s that the traditional slingshot we all know of today came into play (Yoder.) It was a y shaped stick with two elastic bands tied between two endpoints at either of the upper ends of the Y. It is a seemingly simple machine, where all you have to do to be able to use it was point, pull, and release. This is what made them ideal for children to play with in the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. However, slingshots are not as simple as people originally thought. Slingshots have a lot of scientific and mathematical concepts that are the reason it was such a useful weapon back in the day and a great form of entertainment today. The history of the slingshot is not what most people expect. As stated earlier, the earliest form of the slingshot is the strapped sling. One of the earliest accounts of a single sling being used was in The Bible s David and Goliath, where David slung a rock at Goliath. Sadly, this was highly inefficient due to its lack of accuracy and even though it is light, you had to spin it around to pick up enough speed to be able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Does Smith Use Satire In A Modest Proposal Jonathan Smith s A Modest Proposal uses certain literary strategies throughout his essay to portray his opinions on the condition of the Irish Catholics. At first glance, his arguments and use of language may seem quite ridiculous and even horrifying. However, his true intention does not seem to be to convey a straightforward opinion. Instead, Smith employs a more ironic and satirical tone throughout his writing in order to portray . Jonathan Smith expresses his thoughts in his writing with satirical technique through his discussions containing exaggerated descriptions, economic reasoning, and parodies of political messages. Smith s proposal is so distasteful that it would seem offensive; especially during the time period in which it was written. However, this was done in order to show how ridiculous and offensive the rich English Protestants seem with their abuses on Irish Catholics. One such example of the mockery he uses is when he suggests that, this food will be somewhat dear, and therefore very proper for the landlords, who as they have already devoured most of the parents, seem to have the best title to the children, (Smith). Not a soup that makes you feel or look any younger, nor does it cure a sickness, but because of a delicacy. Sharks are at a high demand mainly in East Asia. Shark Finning is the removal of the shark s fins while they are still alive and throwing the rest of its body back in the ocean where it takes a painful death. Seeing that sharks are on top of the ecosystem, their population is also decreasing. Given the way they are being caught, which is clearly a form of animal cruelty, therefore the practice of shark finning must be banned. The shark fin soup was said to be created in China during the Sung Dynasty (AD 986), where the emperor used the dish as a symbol of class and wealth. While catching sharks were difficult throughout that time, it made the soup even more of a popular delicacy. The soup is a thickened broth made with either chicken or ham broth. Alexander Hamilton s Influence On American History Alexander Hamilton recently rose to prominence again because of the hit Broadway musical Hamilton, and the book Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. Previously Hamilton s role as Founding Father has been diminished because he never became president, and he also experienced political scandals that were detrimental to his career. However, his lack of prominence as a Founding Father, has not weakened his actual impact on United States history and political system. Alexander Hamilton had an immense impact on American history, through both obvious and subtle means, that have resulted in the government and political system we have today. Some obvious contributions that he made to the current political system, include the position of Secretary of Treasury, which set precedent, along with his establishment of a national bank. Earlier than that, he was instrumental in the creation of the Constitution as we know it today, and also helped the Constitution pass in various states. Some more subtle ways that he has influenced American history include his contributions to the party system, as well as his role in getting Thomas Jefferson elected as the third president of the United States. • 26. The Transformation of the Hero in the Film, Raiders of... Transformation of Hero in Raiders of Lost Ark Raiders of the Lost Ark is the 1981 film that follows renowned archeologist and professor Indiana Jones as he races against time and Nazis to uncover one of the greatest treasures believed to be in existence, the Ark of the Covenant. In this film, Indiana Jones fulfills the role of the hero and as such must fulfill certain tasks that will prove his heroic qualities. In The Hero s Journey of Self Transformation: Models of Higher Development from Mythology, David Hartman and Diane Zimbermoff explore the traits and characteristics that define a hero and demonstrate the transformation that his or her ego will undergo in order to become a more complete person. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Professor Indiana Jones is recruited by the United States government after they intercept Nazi radio transmissions referencing Jones mentor, Dr. Abner Ravenwood. It is at this time that it is revealed that Dr. Ravenwood was a renowned Ark of the Covenant scholar and that he spent his entire life attempting to find this mythological treasure. Despite Jones insistence that he agrees to find the treasure before the Nazis get to it simply because of its historic value and states that he does not believe in the supernatural. By the end of the film, Jones initial beliefs are completely transformed as he witnesses, first hand, the power of the Ark of the Covenant; after witnessing what the Ark does to the Nazis that wish to use it for their own evil ... • 27. Heart Of Darkness Irony Essay 1. The Dark Heart of Africa and the Roman Empire both offer examples of irony and foreshadowing throughout Marlow s journey. While searching for Kurtz, Marlow travels deeper into the jungle getting darker and darker as he goes. Marlow references the Roman Empire and how it came to Europe and took over acres of empty land changing immensity of life (Page 3). This foreshadows what happens to the natives in the Heart of Africa. The European traders come into the natives land and exploit them to obtain ivory and make a profit. The Europeans go in and change the lives of the Natives, just like the Romans changed Europe. Talking about how the Romans had no idea what they were up against foreshadows the fact that Marlow had no idea what was in store for him in Africa (Page 3). The statement They were man enough to face the darkness foreshadows that Marlow does indeed know what darkness looks like and the kind of person you have to be to experience it. The irony between the Roman Empire and the Heart of Africa is that they are one in the same. In this situation, Marlow is the Romans. He is exploring a new land (the Heart of Africa) with no idea of the dangers and darkness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conrad s decision to keep people and places unnamed gives the story an ominous feel. By only giving people a named based on their profession, it leads to a disconnect between the reader and the character. Conrad wants the reader to think of the character based off of what they are, nothing more. This adds to the darkness of the novel, because it is easier to see the characters as evil when you know nothing about them. The places with one name show generality. All of Europe was colonizing Africa at the time and by keeping Marlow s country a secret it adds to the wonder of the story. Keeping names general allows the reader to come up with their own ideas about what each person/place is like. Keeping names ambiguous allows the reader to relate these specific events to their lives and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While the song has no chorus, nor any real plot or unified meaning, it consists of nine verses from the Wu Tang members with an intro from the rapper, Ol Dirty Bastard also featuring Cappadonna. One of the interesting facts about the song Triumph was that it was one of the very few 6 minute songs that featured on the radio at the time, even though the limit was usually three minutes and fifteen seconds when it came to hip hop or any other genre. According to Document 5 it talks about how the production of the Atomic Bomb was also being searched for by the enemy and luckily the Americans had gotten to it first. They were able to use it on the people who attacked Pearl Harbor without warning, those who treated prisoners of war with little sympathy and pity, and those who caused international war crimes. The Americans were able to stop the war with the Atomic Bombing and put an end to the empire which had done unjustly acts upon the war. These acts that were caused by the Japanese were also prevented from happening even further upon into the war. The Japanese would also do Island Hopping which they would specifically attack enemy islands and take over them to create a Pacific Empire. Dgs Is More Advantageous Than Pbg Or Ebg Structures DGS is more advantageous than PBG or EBG structures: (1) For implementing EBG structures, a very large area is required to implement the periodic pattern and it is also very difficult to define the unit element of EBG structure whereas DGS structures has properties similar to EBG and the geometry of DGS can be one or very few etched structures which is very simpler and also does not require large area for implementation of it. (2) DGS can be easily designed and implemented. It has higher precision with rectangular shaped defect structures. Therefore it is very good option to extend its practical applications. In my project, I have designed and simulated microstrip patch antenna at operating frequency 2.4GHz using HFSS software .It has Substrate (FR4) having dielectric constants of 4.4.I have designed single patch antenna without DGS, 2x1 array antenna and 4x1 array antenna without DGS ,4x1 array antenna with DGS (Dumbbell shaped , Double Circular shaped, E shaped) and analyze the results. I analyze that I god improved results in 4x1 array antenna configuration with E shaped DGS structure in terms of Voltage Standing Wave Ratio of 1.12, Return loss of 22.12 dB, Bandwidth of 404 MHz, Gain of 7 dB etc. 1.1 Problem Statement : Design Microstrip array antenna with Improved DGS structure for Performance Improvement. 1.2 Objectives 1) Design a single patch antenna at operating frequency 2.4 GHz. 2) Design Array antenna of two by one ... For example, the man featured in the illustration is holding a newspaper with the main headline saying HUNGER GAMES GROSSES $155M OPENING. The subheadings read Inside: War, poverty, and genocide. The man in the comic can also be compared to a skeleton or dead body. He possesses a cadaver like skull and extremely bony limbs. He appears extremely malnourished and you can make the inference that his clothing is loose because of the weight he lost from not consuming the nutrients needed to be healthy. We can infer that this man is living in a refugee camp because of the sign in the background and also because of the tent in the image. He may not be receiving the food he needs because we have an understanding of how poor the living conditions can be in these refugee camps. There also appears to be ...
