General anesthesia – This type of sedation is commonly used in hospitals for surgeries. In many
cases, we will use this type of sedation if you are undergoing an oral surgery procedure and are
nervous or fearful. When under general anesthesia, you will be completely asleep throughout
treatment and will not remember anything when you wake up.

Articulators Restoration of missing teeth, and fabrication of partial or complete dentures is the main
objective of prosthodontics. However, in order to accomplish the task, the occlusion of the patient is
necessary to be able to fabricate a successful prosthesis that suits him/her best. Since keeping
him/her attached to the dental chair is not possible every time a record is needed, a device that could
represent the patient was crucial. That's how in the 19th century the concept of the articulator was
given birth, and the first articulator was fabricated. Definition: An articulator is a mechanical device
that mimics and represents the TMJ and jaw members where maxillary and mandibular casts will be
attached to reproduce mandibular position and motions. An articulator can simulate mandibular
movements, but it cannot duplicate all the possible movements. It can only be adjusted to simulate
border movements, within which our chewing occurs. Purpose behind the use of an articulator: –
The main function of an articulator is to "act as the patient in the absence of the patient". It will
simulate the patient's TMJ,masticatory muscles, mandibular ligaments, mandible and maxilla, and
the complex neuromuscular mechanism of mandibular movements. – It will hold maxillary and
mandibular casts in a predetermined fixed relationship. –
