• Aero Peek lets you preview the desktop in an X-Ray
vision mode. Using this feature, you can peer past all your
open windows straight to the Windows 7 desktop.
4. Aero Shake
You can use Aero Shake to quickly minimize all open windows except
the one you’re shaking. This feature can save you time if you want to
focus on a single window without minimizing all your other open
windows one by one. You can then restore all of those windows by
shaking the open window again.
5. Jump Lists
Jump lists give you the option of viewing a list of recently accessed files
by application, even when the application is not open, by right-clicking on
the program’s icon in the taskbar. You can also quickly access a
favorite playlist without opening your
media player. Jump lists have also been
integrated into the Start Menu.
6. Snapping
Snapping is a new way of
resizing open windows. All you
need to do is drag a window to
the top, left, or right edge of the
screen. You can resize the
window in several ways
depending on which side you
drag.
7. Gadgets
Gadgets are mini-programs that come with Windows. In
Windows Vista, gadgets were placed in the sidebar located
along the right edge of the screen. Windows 7 sets gadgets
free, and now you can place gadgets anywhere you want
on the screen.
8. Desktop Slideshow
The Desktop Slideshow feature allows the user to change the
wallpaper at specified intervals, ranging from 10 seconds to 1
day. Each Windows 7 theme has its own slideshow, which
contains several wallpapers. You can also create your own
desktop slideshow using your own pictures.
9. Cortana
Cortana is a virtual assistant
created by Microsoft. Cortana can
set reminders, recognize natural
voice without the requirement for
keyboard input, and answer
questions using information from
the Bing search engine.
10. Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Edge is a web browser developed by Microsoft
and included in Windows 10 replacing Internet Explorer as
the default web browser on all device classes. It has new
features, including integration with Cortana, annotation
tools, and a reading mode.
11. Multiple Desktops
With Multiple Desktops, Windows 10 lets you create multiple,
separate desktops that each can display different open windows
and apps. A simple use for this might be keeping work separate
from personal stuff. You could also put all the items that relate to
a specific task on one desktop, so that you can better focus on
that task.
