Who Is Malala Yousafzai?
Could one girl, just one, change the way the world looks at girls and education? Could someone at
just the age of 15 make an impact so big an entire world knows about it? That girl was born on July
12, 1997 in Swat Valley, Pakistan (Yousafzai, 2013). Malala Yousafzai is known worldwide for
being shot by the Taliban and survived. Malala's family includes two brothers, Atal and Khushal, her
mother, Tor Pekai, and her father Ziauddin (Yousafzai, 2013). Malala will embark on a journey
thousands of miles from home that will teach her just how precious life is and how important
education is for children. To begin with, the Taliban is an Islamic fundamentalist group in
Afghanistan and Pakistan ("Taliban"). The Taliban has a restriction of banning ... Show more

This bravery doesn't come without a price. On October 9, 2012 Malala's life changed forever
(Yousafzai, 2013). Two armed gunman entered Malala's school bus and asked, "Who is Malala?"
(Yousafzai, 2013). Everyone looked at her. One of the men pulled out a gun and shot her in the head
and out through her shoulder. Two other shots were fired, one hit her friend's hand and the other
grazed another student's forearm (Yousafzai, 2013). Malala was rushed to the local hospital in Swat
Valley. (Yousafzai, 2013) From there they determined that the bullet barely missed her brain, but her
condition was unstable (Yousafzai, 2013). Two hours later they flew her to a military hospital in
Peshawar (Yousafzai, 2013). There wasn't much they could do for her there; the machines were
unsanitary and hardly keeping her alive (Yousafzai, 2013). Thankfully two doctors from
Birmingham, Dr. Fiona Reynolds and Dr. Javid Kayani, happened to be around Peshawar
(Yousafzai, 2013). They advised to take her to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham, where
she made a miraculous two month recovery (Yousafzai, 2013). On December 6, 2012 Malala took
her first steps outside the hospital into her new world (Yousafzai, 2013). Malala will always

Persuasive Essay About Makeup
In past times, there were few makeup products to choose from. A majority of these products were
home–made. As time has went on, more products were made as makeup and beauty products
became popular as the advertisement industry began to grow. At this point in time, many places sell
products with prices affordable up to being ridiculous prices but they are sold because of the want
for the products by many people. Advertising is everywhere; from billboards, trucks, magazines,
online apps, and the radio. In the advertisements, they include a description of what the product is
supposedly able to do to make you look "flawless" or "beautiful". The thought that you need a
beauty product to meet society's expectations is not good and can affect your self esteem especially
if the product does not even do what it was supposed to have done. In the 21st century, make up is
used for many things from covering up natural parts of your skin like redness, blemishes, and
freckles to wearing make up for a date, costumes, holidays, going to the store, work, or even school.
Society makes it seem as if you want to be beautiful you have to have a face full of makeup and
perfect skin like the models used in advertisements. The models used for advertising skin products
already have what society's view of perfect skin is without the use of the product. These models are
not chosen due to the use of the product on their skin making them look the way they do but because
they are society's view of

Informative Speech : Special Events
Special Events
Special events are parties with a 4–point purpose. To be most effective and worthwhile events
should optimally achieve four primary goals:
An event should celebrate your school's mission and vision;
An event should help you identify and engage new prospects for your school;
An event should raise money in support of your school's overall mission or for a particular program;
and,
An event should promote your school to the broader community.
Of all the revenue streams in a comprehensive advancement program, special events give your
school the most exposure to the largest possible audience, but they also cost the most per dollar
raised. While special events are considered a revenue stream within a comprehensive ... Show more

Finally, evaluate your event. Did you meet your participation and fundraising goals? Did you have
enough volunteers? What elements of your event were a hit, and which ones weren't as popular?
Were there any snags the night of the event that can be prevented next year? What would you do
differently next year? Consider more than just how much was raised and how many people attended
– factor in how much paid staff time and volunteer time the event required.
Institutional Funders
There are three types of institutional funders: Corporations, Foundations, and the Government.
Government funders include federal, state and local government agencies, and funding may be in
the form of pass–through funds, subaward funds, or contracts and collaborative agreements.
Federal grants are considered economic aid issued by the United States Government provided in
order for the recipient to carry out a public purpose. There are Categorical Grants that include
project grants and formula grants, Block Grants and Earmark Grants.
Corporate Giving
Corporate giving, also known as corporate philanthropy, refers to the act of for–profit companies
donating some of their profits or resources to charity. Donations may come from the company
directly, or through a separate, company–sponsored foundation.
Giving interests often complement the corporation's business interests, and are usually limited to
programs that benefit their employees, their

The Pros And Cons Of The Green Revolution
Introduction: The Green Revolution was a research and development initiative aimed to increase the
number of crop yields from the years between 1930–1960 and the subsequent years following them
which resulted in the adaptation of various technologies leading to the invention of high–yielding
varieties of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and new irrigation methods. It has facilitated socio–
economic changes which have helped in preventing natural calamities due to the ever–increasing
world population and has provided people with an option of self–sustaining and reduced poverty.

These credit institutions mortgaged lands to farmers which in turn proved beneficial for these
institutions as they could acquire these farms if the farmer was unable to the pay the loan (Ponting,
2007). One of the major advantages of the Green Revolution was that it increased the use of
machinery on the farmlands (Bruce Koppel, 1987). Conclusion: Thus, it can be clearly said that the
Green Revolution replaced, "one way of life with another within a short span of two decades." due
to its massive agricultural developments (Parayil, 1992). It was a major achievement when it was
implemented in the developing countries as it gave them a sense of food security after the end of the
World War–2. It got many people out of poverty and hunger and while this was focussed on, it also
dropped down the prices for food, increased migration, generated employment and the increased
economy as well. Agriculture research still needs new research to tackle the upcoming problems
related to increasing yields to feed the ever–growing population and growth of food for the
developing countries. Add to that, globalization and trade will make food prices less liable to local
food produce and agriculture will not be as important for people

Albert C. Barnes : A Man Beyond His Time
Albert C. Barnes was a man beyond his time. While the post–impressionists were being scrutinized
and just starting to become better known, Barnes was collecting their work and amassing a huge
collection of post–impressionist and early modern art. The Barnes Foundation, created by Barnes in
1922 to "promote the advancement of education and the appreciation of the fine arts and
horticulture."1, has one of the greatest collections of post–impressionist and early modern art in
existence. With extensive collections from Renoir, Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, and many more art
masters of the time. These collections were artfully arranged for display in a building Barnes crafted
specifically for the display and study of his collection. Barnes willed his collection to never be sold,
rented, or lent to any extent and to stay where he left it. Since his sudden death in 1951, this
statement has been scrutinized and debated, ultimately leading to turmoil and conflict even in the
courts, and the collection was eventually moved from Barnes' space in Merion County, Pennsylvania
to the center of Philadelphia. This decision to move the Barnes Foundation, while questionable in
process, was ultimately the right decision because the Barnes collection is so fantastic that everyone
should be able to see it, opening to more viewers promotes the education that Barnes was passionate
about, it was the best way to keep the Barnes Foundation open for business financially, and it is best

Persuasive Essay About Makeup
Even six thousand years ago, makeup had a presence in many societies. There were only a few
products to use for your skin, a majority of these products were home–made. As time has
progressed, different types of products have been made as makeup and beauty products became
popular. At the time in which makeup became popular, many places sell products with prices
affordable up to absurd prices, these products still can be sold due to a majority of the make–up
wearing population that wants to have the most modern and fascinating products. Advertising has a
presence everywhere; billboards, trucks, magazines, online apps, and on your radio stations are all
methods of sharing products. In advertisements, an included description of how specific products
are supposed to aid your skin makes a mark. These descriptions often don't coincide with the
products actual wear which can cause one to feel self–conscious or lower one's self–esteem due to
society's harsh judgment on makeup.
At the turn of the 21st century, makeup has a large variety of different uses, from covering up
natural parts of your skin, including redness, blemishes, and freckles to wearing makeup for a date,
costumes, holidays, shopping at the store, or attending work and school. Society makes the idea of
beauty seem as if there is a requirement to have a face full of makeup and perfect skin similar to that

Summary: Finding Funding: Online Grant Proposal
Finding Funding: Online Grant Proposals Submitting a grant proposal is a time consuming and
difficult process that can be made more efficient and effective by completing these proposals online
instead of the time–honored process of submitting proposals on paper. Comparing Foundations that
solicit grant proposals online can be a daunting prospect, however with time and research the online
process can be made simpler for not only the requester but for the grantor. Applying a sound strategy
to the online grant proposal process can help a proposal submission be successful.
Online versus Paper Traditionally the process of obtaining a grant from a funder required not only

Beyond that, requirements are only visible to actual requesters. However, the requirements do
appear to be very similar for the requests. WKKF does advise that their grant requests are for
program or project assistance and they encourage organizations that are requesting operations
support to contact their customer service group directly for assistance, this does portend an effort to
find a niche for all requesters that have a need related to the health and welfare of community and
children (WKKF, 2017). Of all the foundations researched, WKKF has the most user–friendly
process with the most assistance being offered within the process, while the online process for TRF
appears to be the most stringent and difficult to maneuver.
Conclusion
Online grant proposal submission is the trending method to request grant funds from companies and
foundations. There are some additional challenges with the online process, namely user ids,
passwords, character and time limits, as well as submitting pre–proposal intent or application
information. Most of the online proposal processes across the researched funding foundations
appear to have similar requirements and timelines. Even with the additional online steps the process
is more streamlined than the traditional paper

With a full basement, your foundation walls should be high enough so that you have at least seven
feet, four inches of head space in the finished basement. The finished foundation should be
waterproofed from the footing to the finish grade line. The foundation is poured, sleeves are
installed in the forms before pouring for such things as the water supply and the sewage outlet, the
pipe is placed through the hole and the space between the pipe and the wall is patched. This is the
easiest method used to get a tight, waterproof fit. .
7.) Rough–In Plumbing: (2–4 days) Once the foundation is in and backfilled and tamped and
possibly soil treated, the plumber needs to install the sewer line and water pipes that will be under
the concrete.
8.) Flatwork for Basement Floors or Garages: (3 days) The top of the slab should be at least eight
inches above the finish grade. There will be a base for the slab, gravel or crushed stone to form a
layer four to six inches in depth. If poly goes down it is just prior to pouring the concrete.
Sometimes it is recommended and expansion joints of fiber board are installed around the perimeter
Garages are subject to extreme temperature changes and concrete expands and contracts with those
changes. The expansion joint permits this expansion without cracking the concrete.

Theory, Computer Science And Axiomatizations Of Set Theory
Set Theory, Computer Science and axiomatizations of Set Theory

Abstract
This paper contains the brief introduction of Set theory which included the definition, origination,
history and modernization of set theory and mathematical field related to it. The main focus of this
paper will be on the application of set theory in different discipline.
Set Theory, Computer Science and axiomatizations of Set Theory
Mathematics is the study of numbers, and counting, and measuring, but that is only the beginning.
Mathematics involves the study of number patterns and relationships. Set theory is an area of
mathematics that deals with inconceivable numbers, and bottomless concepts such as infinity. The
history of set theory is relatively dissimilar from the history of most other parts of mathematics. Set
Theory was founded by Georg Cantor in 1874 in his paper "On a Characteristics Property of All
Real Algebraic Numbers". Naive set theory is fun, and as we saw with Cantor's diagonalization, it
can produce some incredibly beautiful results. But as we've seen before, in the simple world of
naive set theory, it's easy to run into trouble, in the form of Russell's paradox and a variety of related
problems.
The sake of completeness, Russell's paradox concerns the set R={s | s ∉ s}. Is R∈R? If R∈R, then
by the definition of R∉R. But by definition, if R∉R,

The New Foundation Of The National Government
After the Philadelphia Convention of 1787, it was voted that Constitution would become the new
foundation of the national government, not the Articles of Confederation. At the time, there were
thirteen individual states that had to vote to ratify or reject the Constitution. Within these thirteens
states, there were two groups that consisted of the Federalists and the Antifederalists. The
Federalists supported the Constitution; however, the Antifederalists opposed the Constitution. The
Federalists were led by an individual by the name of Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton was thought of
as an intellectual with a mind that blew many. These Federalists were the first political party of the
United States of America. They wanted a strong national ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Madison claimed that these factions could be stopped by electing representatives. These
representatives would then put forth national interest ahead of factional interest. In the other essays,
the Federalists foresaw the future of the country containing leaders from various competing interests
and groups, for the Antifederalists believed this was to be primarily the farmers. Overall, the
Federalists main points of discussion were a strong national government and commercial growth of
the nation, along with financial policies that revolved around central banks. The Antifederalists were
obviously opposed to the Constitution, and they were in full support of the Articles of
Confederation. The Antifederalists leaders, like Patrick Henry, believed the Constitution challenged
individual's liberty. The Antifederalists acted in factions. As the Federalists believed in a strong
central government, the Antifederalists thought this would get in the way of state sovereignty.
Furthermore, other factions within the Antifederalists believed a strong, central government would
reflect the government of Great Britain, in which they were trying to get away from. Patrick Henry
publicly spoke out against the Constitution claiming it would give the States very limited power.
The Constitution was to contain a president, army, and the power to tax. Henry and others viewed
this as basically Great Britain. They were afraid that the

Mann Act Case
The volume of Mann Act cases began to decline in the 1930s as juries had become less willing to
convict someone for consensual sex unrelated to prostitution. Although, as late as 1959, a federal
judge still determined that a Mann Act conviction was apt simply for having the intent to violate the
law, as long as the man had crossed state line. He stated, "Proof that he accomplished his illicit
purpose is not necessary to conviction." However, the terms of the law have been amended multiple
times since its passage. The Mann Act still exists, but it had become broadly viewed as antiquated
by the 1970s. For example, Jackie Gleason's character, Sheriff Buford T. Justice, planned to charge
Burt Reynolds with the Mann Act for taking Sally Field on a cross–country joy ride during the film

There were valid concerns that this federal agency could abuse its power and those fears were
realized with the Mann Act. Mann Act investigations opened the door for unnecessary snooping into
the personal lives of influential public figures who government officials wanted to subvert. For
instance, the first black heavyweight boxing champion, Jack Johnson, was one of the earliest men to
be convicted under the Mann Act. He had a swagger and lifestyle that was a slap in the face to Jim
Crow standards. In the ring, he taunted his opponents, all of whom were white and one of his
victories even caused a race riot. Furthermore, Johnson also openly dated white women and often

Analysis of Daystar by Rita Dove Essay
While reading the poem "Daystar," written by Rita Dove, its readers most likely do not ask thought–
provoking questions like "Why did Dove write this?" or "What is the true meaning behind this
poem?" but the poem has deeper meaning than what its outside layer portrays. Dove, an African
American woman born in 1952, has not only viewed the racism of the United States society, but she
has also seen how gender can or cannot play a role in the advancement of a person's life (Rita Dove:
The Poetry Foundation). The poem "Daystar" not only takes an outside perspective on the everyday
life of a woman, but it closely relates to Dove's family history. Dove uses the experiences of her life
as a woman, and the knowledge gained from living in countries ... Show more content on

"Daystar" comes from a book of poems written by Dove entitled Thomas and Beulah, which tells
both the real and unreal stories of Dove's maternal grandparents (Stein 64). Unlike Dove, who grew
up during a time of women's rights, her grandmother most likely did not have an admired career as a
housewife. In discussing Thomas and Beulah, Stein explains, "It is almost painful to witness
Thomas and Beulah, two people clearly devoted to each other, continually misinterpret each other's
behavior" (70). Although "Daystar" is not necessarily written from an autobiographical perspective,
Dove is using the research of her family and her own experiences to welcome us into the lives of the
distressed Beulah. Beyond the already mentioned first line about how Beulah "wanted a little room
for thinking (1)," there are many other evidences in the poem that prove this woman desires more
than what she currently has. Even today, women are viewed as the main caretakers of their children
and the ones who are expected to respond to the domestic duties at home, and this is what Beulah
exemplifies. In the next lines of "Daystar," obligations of motherhood are further explained as Dove
writes, "but she saw diapers steaming on the line, /a doll slumped behind the door" (2–3). Both the
diapers and the doll imply that it is Beulah's job to take care of the laundry and clean up the mess
that her children have left behind. Furthermore, the

been launched by the NZBCF since the start of its various programmes for women's health
promotion in New Zealand. The Pink Caravan will be visiting 32 towns of New Zealand as part of
its itinerary with a mission to provide breast health information to the men and women who need
access to free medical breast check–up, breast cancer monitoring, inquiries, and to be able to sign a

This paper aims to evaluate the Pink Caravan breast cancer awareness campaign programme of
NZBCF for 2015. The Pink Caravan is an on–the–road campaign programme to provinces, with no
easy access to breast health services in New Zealand, to be able to invite women and even men to

Proposal For Implementing A Formal Mentoring Program Essay
MEMORANDUM
TO: Donald Lower, Partner; Barry Anderson, Partner; John Huber, Partner; Todd Whitlow, Partner
FROM: Brooke Vondal, Administrative Officer
DATE:
September 18, 2016
SUBJECT: Proposal to Implement a Formal Mentoring Program
Attached is the proposal to implement a mentoring program at Anderson, Lower, Whitlow P.C. In
early summer, ALW hired fifteen recently graduated individuals and 12 have already taken positions
at other firms. There needs to be a system in place to develop and foster relationships for these
individuals within the firm. This firm has a high turnover rate of new hires; currently, the turnover
rate is 85%. Firms that are considered the Big Four are offering mentoring programs that make their
employees invested in the company's future. Unfortunately, if ALW does not start to compete with
this issue, more employees will be lost to the Big Four Firms.
Implementing a strong mentoring program that fosters individual and personal growth within the
company is vital for the future of this firm. This includes setting up and maintaining a mentoring
program. The mentoring program will be set up with individuals from all levels of achievement, that
are willing to devote a portion of their time to the firm's prosperity.
Investing in the future of this firm, through a formal mentoring program is a vital step. I look
forward to working with you throughout this process. I can be reached at bvondal@alwpc.com or

The Impact Of Internet On The Internet
1. Introduction
Internet connectivity is a major problem in developing countries. Broadband penetration is severely
limited, and access to useful information is crippled as a result. Where there do exist means to go
online, such as ADSL connections or mobile internet, the connection generally suffers from unstable
throughput and frequent outages. As a result, instant access to useful information is hampered. In an
increasingly knowledge dependent world, to be disconnected from that knowledge poses a serious
drawback. Students rely on the internet for academics, sportspeople for improvements to their game
and medical professionals are increasingly turning to online portals for reference, and thus the
knowledgebases on the internet contribute to making life better. A significant contributor to this
gradual integration of the internet as a reference guide into everyday life has been Wikipedia.

Ignite Incur Foundations Case Summary
Problem:
All foundations need support in order to be viable philanthropic institutions. This support includes
filing all of the paper work associated with the grants approval process, vetting the IRS standings of
nonprofits before grants can be made, doing preliminary screenings of nonprofits to identify if their
missions match the missions of the foundations they are attempting to solicit ect. Larger foundations
(50 million dollars and over in net assets) are able to hire a fulltime staff to handle these duties.
Smaller foundations (100 thousand dollars to five million dollars) often times give one of the
trustee's lawyers a few extra billable hours for the lawyer to manage the foundation as there is less a
smaller volume of administrative work associated with making fewer grants. Midsized foundations
(5 million dollars – 50million dollars in net assets) struggle because they do not have enough
administrative duties to warrant a full time salaried employee, however they are too big to be
managed effectively and efficiently by a lawyer or accountant. This discrepancy can cause a lot of

A dike is an embankment of a certain type of material. The materials most used in constructing a
dike are soil, rock and sand–bags. Dikes are often used for a short period of time, this is to enable a
cofferdam to be constructed later on.
2. Single Wall Cofferdam
A single wall cofferdam is applied in case the working area and area supposed to be enclosed are
limited and small. This type of dam is only suitable for a maximum depth of 25m. On both sides of
the single walled cofferdam a single row of piles is used.
3. Double Wall Cofferdam
If the area that is supposed to be enclosed by the dam is large, it becomes necessary to use a double
wall cofferdam which is made of two lines of sheet piles tied to each other. There is a space between
the tied sheet piles that is filled in with sand providing stability for the cofferdam. Double wall
cofferdams are used when the area to be enclosed by the dam is very large and the water depth is

Barnes Foundation Controversy
Alfred Barnes, who had a passion for collecting famous artworks for educating and developing
character within individuals, founded The Barnes Foundation in 1922. He housed his collection in
his estate, which was located in the suburbs of Merion, Pennsylvania. Barnes believed that the
everyday man should have the opportunity to visit and appreciate honored artworks as well as to
improve from the estate's educational courses. Education is the priority; in fact, Barnes believed that
the foundation should not be considered an art museum. As stated by Barnes, the purpose of the
foundation was, "to be maintained perpetually for education in the appreciation of the fine arts and
as an educational experiment." The controversy arises decades after Barnes death. Barnes passed

Glanton started to increase admission prices, added a gift shop, and took other commercialized steps
to create a more standard art museum. All of these measures went against Alfred Barnes's original
intent for the educational facility, where he specifically stated the collection should not be used for
commercial display. Glanton argues that the purpose was to raise money for the renovation and care
for the building and collection. Add why his argument is discredited. Another ethical breach Glanton
spearheaded in, was the decision to move the entire Barnes collection to downtown Philadelphia,
rather than following Barnes's instruction to preserve the artworks perpetually in his estate. Again,
Glanton argues that the decision was to create more revenue for the artworks themselves; however
Alfred Barnes's legacy was disrespected beyond belief as there were other ways to fund the
collection while still staying true to Barnes's endowment. It is clear that Glanton went against

Isaac Asimov, Mind of a Child Essay
Throughout history man has always had a vivid imagination. In prehistoric times, old man used to
write stories, tales and such upon their cave dwelling walls. These were performed through the use
of symbols. These symbols, called hieroglyphics, portrayed the thoughts and creativity of their
authors. Boszhardt once said while talking about the cave pictures in Wisconsin, "When I first
visited the cave, I was skeptical about the possible art that Daniel had written to me about, But once
my flashlight came upon some of the drawings, there was no question that this was authentic Native

Example Of Government Manipulation
Government Manipulation The United States government claims that that they are always for the
people of America. And make it sound patriotic and civilized like everything is going the way it
should. When in reality they are hiding the truth from the U.S citizens whether it is education, laws,
or news from the media. The United States government continues to buy/adopt new government
plans through media that we are not always fully aware of. John Maxwell Hamilton/ Kevin Kosar
explain specific ways in which they are doing to control what we choose/pay for. "We have a right
to know which companies receive government contracts, how to collect insurance benefits and
social security payments and what public school educational reform will look like. But too often, the
government uses its information machinery to do more than simply inform us about a policy.
Sometimes, it tries to persuade us to adopt a particular position, regardless of its efficacy." What
Hamilton and Kosar are saying is that the government is very bias about media propaganda and
persuading the people of the United States about plans/regulations that we barely understand or
know about, into using our own money towards what they want. Rather than the other choices that
they did not want us to know. This also relates to large news sources such as, Fox News and CNN,
who tend to have a bias point of view with little background information as possible. People tend to

becoming obese. For children of the 21st century, obesity is one of the most diseases. There are
many causes/factors that lead to obesity but researchers identify genetics, overeating and a lack of
exercise as three of the major causes. As a result of obesity, children suffer from both immediate and
long–term effects on health and well–being. The Center of Disease and Control Prevention identifies

A tool known as BMI (body mass index) is used by medical providers to calculate an individual 's
body mass index. It calculated by measuring a child's weight and height and the found value is then
compared to percentiles relative to other children of the same age and sex. For example, if a child
aged anywhere from 2–19 is "more than 85% and less than 95%" they are considered overweight.
(Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2009). This tool is not a method used to diagnosis
childhood obesity but it 's a valuable way to measure the prevalence of obesity worldwide.
Introduction: In 1998 the World Health Organization announced that obesity had become an
epidemic in both adults and children. This epidemic is a major concern in public health yet many
countries are failing to address the issue. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the causes
contributing to this increasing epidemic of childhood obesity. There are many causes that factor into
childhood obesity but I will focus specifically on genetics, overeating, and the lack of exercise. Of
the many countries struggling to combat obesity Japan came up with their own solution. The article

Soccer Informative Speech Essay
Have you ever heard the saying, "have you ever wanted something so much it hurt"? Well, when I
say it. I'm talking about literally hurting. Your legs are so sore, it feels like you can't take another
stride, your so out of breath from chasing the ball around, and your so exhausted from last nights
practice, your bed seems to be the most attractive thing to you right now. Three hour practices of
straight running, push ups, and sit ups has its pros and cons. Even at times when you feel like you

Understanding that and accepting it is a person with good sportsmanship. Where as if they were
upset at their teammates for not doing their part and getting overly upset at the other team for
playing good soccer is not good sportsmanship. At the end of the game, whether you have lost or
have won you always shake hands with the other team. It is always necessary to let the other team
know that it was a good well–played game whatever the outcome was. A person with good
sportsmanship would clearly accept that fact. People that do have good sportsmanship are more easy
to be around. It's almost like they're carefree and just play soccer for the fun of the game and not just
for the win. Don't get me wrong, it is always better to win, but everyone loses at least once in his or
her lives. Lastly, I think that dedication is another key component to playing yet again, not just
soccer, but any sport. Having a teammate that isn't dedicated is like having an employee not show up
to work every other day. You need that person to be there to get the job done. If you miss days of
practice or even games, those are days that everyone is running an hour more than you and are
gaining more endurance. It almost will seem like you can see the players that aren't as dedicated on
the field because they don't care as much. An article called what motivates athletes by psychology

The New Year And Things I Was A Foundation For My Life
I was sitting and contemplating the last few days while reading my scriptures about the New Year
and things I can work on, things I did really well this last year, as well as goals that I had
accomplished. I was reading in Helaman chapter five and in verse twelve where it says, "Remember
that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your
foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind,
yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to

They say, "If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace,
and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we
will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up."
Those three words but if not shows how much that they trusted in their Savior. It made me wonder
do I trust in the Lord that much? Am I willing to ask for something from Him and have hope but at
the same time accept whatever answer He gives me? Even if that answer is something completely
opposite of what I asked? I really believe that when we can answer yes to those facts that is when
we truly have our foundation built on the Lord because we trust Him and His plan no matter what
may be happening to us.
If you look back at that verse in Helaman it says, "When the devil shall send forth his mighty
winds." Not if he may, or it might happen every now and then. It says WHEN. This means that it is
going to happen and that the fact that you are built upon Christ doesn 't make you impervious to bad
things happening in your life. In fact I would say when you are doing good that 's when satan wants
to attack you even more!

What Aspects Of The Museum Provide The Visitor With An...
"When we say that something is original ... we are referring to the aspect of what can be called
authenticity or genuineness, that which is unique not because it is necessarily different in topic or
technique, but because it embodies one person's experience with deep particularity." This statement,
made by the poet Jane Hirshfield, has provoked a reevaluation of my ideas of an authentic work of
art, especially within the museum. Authenticity has some definite, and some more vague definitions.
In the following paper, I plan to explore what aspects of the museum provide the visitor with an
authentic experience, allowing them to access something authentic. Three institutions will be
examined: Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library (Winterthur), the Barnes Foundation, and
Philadelphia's Magic Gardens (PMG); each institution provides the visitor with a different type of
experience, some more authentic than others. I would first like to start by examining Winterthur
within the context of the article, "The Precession of Simulacra," by Jean Baudrillard. Baudrillard
describes different levels and types of simulacra that exist, which I view as a sort of scale between
simulation and hyperreality, where the real is something entirely separate. Authenticity falls within
this model in the real. Winterthur exists in a state of hyperreality. It is a historic house, which was
once the home of Henry Francis du Pont, a collector of American decorative arts. In the 1950s the
house was converted

Positive Effects Of The Green Revolution
The term Green Revolution was first used in 1968 when people realized that a revolution in
agriculture was taking place. In this revolution many technology transfer initiatives were created
which led to a drastic increase of production worldwide as well as innovative ideas that created large
supplies of food very quickly. Incorporating technological ideas such as mechanization, which led to
the massive increase of production of food at the expense of creating larger but fewer farms, is what
really gave headway to the mass production of food. With the creation of so much food there needed
to be advancements in the way we grew our food such as synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and
GMOs. With these technological changes in the way food was farmed and produced many people
were able to benefit from the outcomes of the Green Revolution. The food was able to be made and
sold so cheaply that the revolution, to some degree, helped alleviate world hunger by providing
people with food that diversified their diet. However, with these changes in agriculture came
changes in the socio economy. Many small farms went into debt and lost their land while the
wealthier farms were able to grow the amount of land they had, thereby giving rise to new ways of
farming, like monoculture farming. Overall, the Green Revolution changed the world in both
positive and negative ways. By using new and old technologies to create a system where food could
be made cheaply and at large quantities, we see many

New Semi Empirical Design Procedures For The Determination...
Karlsrud(2014) proposed new semi empirical design procedures for the determination of ultimate
shaft friction and load–displacement response of axially loaded piles in clay are proposed. A main
basis for developing the new procedures was detailed review and reassessment of results from a
series of pile load–test programs published over the past 30 years on piles well instrumented to
monitor soil and pore pressures as well as load distribution along the pile shafts. Two new
alternative procedures are proposed for predicting the ultimate shaft friction: an a approach, which
uses the normalized un drained strength based on direct simple shear tests as a main correlation
parameter, and a b approach, which uses the over consolidation ratio (OCR). Both approaches
include the effects of the plasticity index of the clay, Ip, which is shown to have an especially large
impact on the correlations when Ip 25%. In practical design, it is recommended that both methods
be used and design values be selected for the ultimate shaft friction that represents an average for
the two methods. Pile diameter, length, or stiffness or whether the pile is open or closed–ended seem
to have little impact on the shaft friction. However, a moderate effect of pile length or flexibility on
the total ultimate pile capacity comes out of the proposed t–z curves, which include some post peak
reduction. The main purpose of the study was to reduce the basic uncertainties involved with
relating ultimate shaft

Gödel's Incompleteness Theorems
Gödel's incompleteness theorems were mathematically proven results but they had broad
philosophical consequences. They were proofs that would show that there are certain true
propositions that are improvable. They were epistemological truths, meaning they dealt with the
nature of knowledge itself by proving an absolute limitation on what we can mathematical prove.
(Goldstein 2013)
To assess the effects of Gödel's results, the theorems themselves will be outlined, as will the three
schools of logicism, formalism and intuitionism, then the effects of the theorems on the schools
shall be considered. To appreciate the consequences of the incompleteness theorems there is a need

(Struik 1987, 203). Logicism disagrees with Intuitionism as it asserts that we do not create
knowledge but simply reveal existing truths (Brown 2008, 125). Since in intuitionism 'abstract
entities are admitted only if they are man made' (Snapper 1979, 209). Brouwer's criticism of
Logicism is that they use the principles of finite sets and their subsets as a form of logic beyond and
prior to mathematics and used it to reason about infinite sets (Kleene 1952, 46–7).
Intuitionism was developed as a reaction to Cantor's set theory and its paradoxes. Intuitionists
sought to rebuild mathematics from the 'bottom–up'. They saw Mathematics as 'an activity';
Mathematicians do not access pre–existing knowledge but construct knowledge (Brown 2008, 121).
Brouwer saw logic as an unreliable basis for mathematics and therefore Brouwer's intuitionism sees
mathematics as having its foundations with 'Ur–Intuition, a basic intuition of the natural numbers'
(Struik 1987, 202, Palmgren 2009). Its fundamental and defining characteristic is its analysis of
what it means for a statement to be true. In Brouwer's original intuitionism he demands 'truth though
constructivity' (Struik 1987, 202). This means that he only allowed entities that had a clear and
definable method of construction. For example, in this way Brouwer would accept the idea of
possible infinitely, as it required a continuous set of constructions and 'remains forever in the

Such efforts are by no means new as neighborhood revitalization through the civic engagement of
residents in low income communities has long been a funding priority of the philanthropic
community. The African American community in particular, hard hit by social and economic
challenges, presents many opportunities for the increased civic engagement on the part of residents
to promote changes in approaches and strategies. Community foundations have the resources and
commitment to community revitalization to make significant inroads into solving the problems in
low income communities.
Tester, Ruel, Anderson, Reitzes, and Oakley (2011) describe issues such as urban renewal as directly
responsible for the decline and destruction of low–income African American communities. They
argue that strategies such as relocating residents of public housing and high crime areas for example
are not solutions to the root cause of the problem – lack of support, inadequate resources, and
isolation. Further, relocating residents of these communities does not result in improved quality of
life. In fact, those moved out of one low income community typically migrate to a similar type of
community that is usually only a few miles from where they originally resided. It is at the
community level in everyday activities that citizens can experience the most measurable and
impactful degree of civic engagement.

The New Curriculum For The Foundation Stage
In 2008 the new curriculum for the foundation stage in wales began its roll out. Its aim was to bring
consistency and continuity to children's education, thus transforming early year's education in
Wales. The principles on which the curriculum is based are that children should be provided with a
good basis for future learning and the ability to apply their learning to everyday situations. Leighton
Andrews, the former education minister, said in an article on the Welsh Government website that the
curriculum was designed "to allow all children to flourish whatever their stage of development or
learning ability" (Andrews, 2010). The Framework for Children's Learning for 3 to 7 Year olds in
Wales (here forth known as 'The Framework') outlines 7 key areas of learning. These are 'Personal
and social development, well–being and cultural diversity', 'Language, literacy and communication
skills', 'Mathematical development', 'Welsh language development', 'Knowledge and understanding
of the world', 'Physical development' and 'Creative development'. The curriculum focuses on holistic
learning, meaning that whilst there are 7 separate areas of learning, they are to be taught in a way
which entwines them together allowing for children to develop skills such as everyday problem
solving by understanding that mathematics is not merely a school subject but a skill which is used in
everyday life.
This essay will explore the ways in which the curriculum should be delivered to foundation stage

Behaviour Modification Assignment
Behaviour being studied and why this behaviour has been chosen:
Behaviour can be defined as the actions taken by an individual to adapt to the surrounding
environment (Campbell, Cumming, Gerrig, Wilkes, & Zimbardo, 2012). Sometimes behaviour is
unfavorable and therefore can be changed using behaviour modification. Weiten (2013) defines
behaviour modification as the changing of behaviour by systematically applying principles of
conditioning.
The target behaviour I have chosen to modify is daily fruit and vegetable intake, as this is an overt
behaviour and not a personal trait. Daily fruit and vegetable intake can be considered as the number
of fruit and vegetable servings consumed per day. As the sizes and forms of fruit and vegetables
vary considerably, I have decided to base my serving size on recommendations by 5+ A Day
Charitable Trust, which is endorsed by both the Ministry of Health and the New Zealand Heart
Foundation. They measure one serving size as a handful i.e. what can fit in the palm in of one's hand
(5+ A Day Charitable Trust, 2013). I have decided to use this measurement because the size of my
palm does not vary and can be used in any situation, regardless of location or time. Additionally, all
forms of fruits and vegetables will be included, for example fresh, frozen, canned, and dried, as
recommended by the Ministry of Health's Food and Nutrition Guidelines (Ministry of Health,
2003a). My intake will be recorded each

The United States foundation started off with the thirteen colonies. The thirteen colonies consists of
Maryland, New Hampshire, Virginia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Delaware, North

The New England colonies consists of Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New

the Geography/climate is known as rocky, forests, hilly, poor soil, long winters, and limited farming.
In New England major towns they built around a commons, Boston, Providence, and newports. The

  • 3. Who Is Malala Yousafzai? Could one girl, just one, change the way the world looks at girls and education? Could someone at just the age of 15 make an impact so big an entire world knows about it? That girl was born on July 12, 1997 in Swat Valley, Pakistan (Yousafzai, 2013). Malala Yousafzai is known worldwide for being shot by the Taliban and survived. Malala's family includes two brothers, Atal and Khushal, her mother, Tor Pekai, and her father Ziauddin (Yousafzai, 2013). Malala will embark on a journey thousands of miles from home that will teach her just how precious life is and how important education is for children. To begin with, the Taliban is an Islamic fundamentalist group in Afghanistan and Pakistan ("Taliban"). The Taliban has a restriction of banning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This bravery doesn't come without a price. On October 9, 2012 Malala's life changed forever (Yousafzai, 2013). Two armed gunman entered Malala's school bus and asked, "Who is Malala?" (Yousafzai, 2013). Everyone looked at her. One of the men pulled out a gun and shot her in the head and out through her shoulder. Two other shots were fired, one hit her friend's hand and the other grazed another student's forearm (Yousafzai, 2013). Malala was rushed to the local hospital in Swat Valley. (Yousafzai, 2013) From there they determined that the bullet barely missed her brain, but her condition was unstable (Yousafzai, 2013). Two hours later they flew her to a military hospital in Peshawar (Yousafzai, 2013). There wasn't much they could do for her there; the machines were unsanitary and hardly keeping her alive (Yousafzai, 2013). Thankfully two doctors from Birmingham, Dr. Fiona Reynolds and Dr. Javid Kayani, happened to be around Peshawar (Yousafzai, 2013). They advised to take her to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham, where she made a miraculous two month recovery (Yousafzai, 2013). On December 6, 2012 Malala took her first steps outside the hospital into her new world (Yousafzai, 2013). • 5. Persuasive Essay About Makeup In past times, there were few makeup products to choose from. A majority of these products were home–made. As time has went on, more products were made as makeup and beauty products became popular as the advertisement industry began to grow. At this point in time, many places sell products with prices affordable up to being ridiculous prices but they are sold because of the want for the products by many people. Advertising is everywhere; from billboards, trucks, magazines, online apps, and the radio. In the advertisements, they include a description of what the product is supposedly able to do to make you look "flawless" or "beautiful". The thought that you need a beauty product to meet society's expectations is not good and can affect your self esteem especially if the product does not even do what it was supposed to have done. In the 21st century, make up is used for many things from covering up natural parts of your skin like redness, blemishes, and freckles to wearing make up for a date, costumes, holidays, going to the store, work, or even school. Society makes it seem as if you want to be beautiful you have to have a face full of makeup and perfect skin like the models used in advertisements. The models used for advertising skin products already have what society's view of perfect skin is without the use of the product. These models are not chosen due to the use of the product on their skin making them look the way they do but because they are society's view of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Of all the revenue streams in a comprehensive advancement program, special events give your school the most exposure to the largest possible audience, but they also cost the most per dollar raised. Did you meet your participation and fundraising goals? Did you have enough volunteers? What elements of your event were a hit, and which ones weren't as popular? Were there any snags the night of the event that can be prevented next year? What would you do differently next year? Consider more than just how much was raised and how many people attended – factor in how much paid staff time and volunteer time the event required. Institutional Funders There are three types of institutional funders: Corporations, Foundations, and the Government. Government funders include federal, state and local government agencies, and funding may be in the form of pass–through funds, subaward funds, or contracts and collaborative agreements. Federal grants are considered economic aid issued by the United States Government provided in order for the recipient to carry out a public purpose. There are Categorical Grants that include project grants and formula grants, Block Grants and Earmark Grants. The Pros And Cons Of The Green Revolution Introduction: The Green Revolution was a research and development initiative aimed to increase the number of crop yields from the years between 1930–1960 and the subsequent years following them which resulted in the adaptation of various technologies leading to the invention of high–yielding varieties of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and new irrigation methods. It has facilitated socio– economic changes which have helped in preventing natural calamities due to the ever–increasing world population and has provided people with an option of self–sustaining and reduced poverty. These credit institutions mortgaged lands to farmers which in turn proved beneficial for these institutions as they could acquire these farms if the farmer was unable to the pay the loan (Ponting, 2007). One of the major advantages of the Green Revolution was that it increased the use of machinery on the farmlands (Bruce Koppel, 1987). Conclusion: Thus, it can be clearly said that the Green Revolution replaced, "one way of life with another within a short span of two decades." due to its massive agricultural developments (Parayil, 1992). It was a major achievement when it was implemented in the developing countries as it gave them a sense of food security after the end of the World War–2. It got many people out of poverty and hunger and while this was focussed on, it also dropped down the prices for food, increased migration, generated employment and the increased economy as well. Agriculture research still needs new research to tackle the upcoming problems related to increasing yields to feed the ever–growing population and growth of food for the developing countries. Add to that, globalization and trade will make food prices less liable to local food produce and agriculture will not be as important for people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Albert C. Barnes : A Man Beyond His Time Albert C. Barnes was a man beyond his time. While the post–impressionists were being scrutinized and just starting to become better known, Barnes was collecting their work and amassing a huge collection of post–impressionist and early modern art. The Barnes Foundation, created by Barnes in 1922 to "promote the advancement of education and the appreciation of the fine arts and horticulture."1, has one of the greatest collections of post–impressionist and early modern art in existence. With extensive collections from Renoir, Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, and many more art masters of the time. These collections were artfully arranged for display in a building Barnes crafted specifically for the display and study of his collection. Barnes willed his collection to never be sold, rented, or lent to any extent and to stay where he left it. Since his sudden death in 1951, this statement has been scrutinized and debated, ultimately leading to turmoil and conflict even in the courts, and the collection was eventually moved from Barnes' space in Merion County, Pennsylvania to the center of Philadelphia. This decision to move the Barnes Foundation, while questionable in process, was ultimately the right decision because the Barnes collection is so fantastic that everyone should be able to see it, opening to more viewers promotes the education that Barnes was passionate about, it was the best way to keep the Barnes Foundation open for business financially, and it is best for the art itself ... Persuasive Essay About Makeup Even six thousand years ago, makeup had a presence in many societies. There were only a few products to use for your skin, a majority of these products were home–made. As time has progressed, different types of products have been made as makeup and beauty products became popular. At the time in which makeup became popular, many places sell products with prices affordable up to absurd prices, these products still can be sold due to a majority of the make–up wearing population that wants to have the most modern and fascinating products. Advertising has a presence everywhere; billboards, trucks, magazines, online apps, and on your radio stations are all methods of sharing products. In advertisements, an included description of how specific products are supposed to aid your skin makes a mark. These descriptions often don't coincide with the products actual wear which can cause one to feel self–conscious or lower one's self–esteem due to society's harsh judgment on makeup. At the turn of the 21st century, makeup has a large variety of different uses, from covering up natural parts of your skin, including redness, blemishes, and freckles to wearing makeup for a date, costumes, holidays, shopping at the store, or attending work and school. • 16. Summary: Finding Funding: Online Grant Proposal Finding Funding: Online Grant Proposals Submitting a grant proposal is a time consuming and difficult process that can be made more efficient and effective by completing these proposals online instead of the time–honored process of submitting proposals on paper. Comparing Foundations that solicit grant proposals online can be a daunting prospect, however with time and research the online process can be made simpler for not only the requester but for the grantor. Applying a sound strategy to the online grant proposal process can help a proposal submission be successful. Online versus Paper Traditionally the process of obtaining a grant from a funder required not only research on the topic, laying out the purpose and goal of the funding request, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beyond that, requirements are only visible to actual requesters. However, the requirements do appear to be very similar for the requests. WKKF does advise that their grant requests are for program or project assistance and they encourage organizations that are requesting operations support to contact their customer service group directly for assistance, this does portend an effort to find a niche for all requesters that have a need related to the health and welfare of community and children (WKKF, 2017). Of all the foundations researched, WKKF has the most user–friendly process with the most assistance being offered within the process, while the online process for TRF appears to be the most stringent and difficult to maneuver. Conclusion Online grant proposal submission is the trending method to request grant funds from companies and foundations. There are some additional challenges with the online process, namely user ids, passwords, character and time limits, as well as submitting pre–proposal intent or application information. Most of the online proposal processes across the researched funding foundations appear to have similar requirements and timelines. This is the easiest method used to get a tight, waterproof fit. . 7.) Rough–In Plumbing: (2–4 days) Once the foundation is in and backfilled and tamped and possibly soil treated, the plumber needs to install the sewer line and water pipes that will be under the concrete. 8.) Flatwork for Basement Floors or Garages: (3 days) The top of the slab should be at least eight inches above the finish grade. There will be a base for the slab, gravel or crushed stone to form a layer four to six inches in depth. If poly goes down it is just prior to pouring the concrete. Sometimes it is recommended and expansion joints of fiber board are installed around the perimeter Garages are subject to extreme temperature changes and concrete expands and contracts with those changes. Theory, Computer Science And Axiomatizations Of Set Theory Set Theory, Computer Science and axiomatizations of Set Theory Prashant Sharma MATH419 D001 Sum 15 American Military University Instructor Mehrdad Mahmoudi Zarandi Abstract This paper contains the brief introduction of Set theory which included the definition, origination, history and modernization of set theory and mathematical field related to it. The main focus of this paper will be on the application of set theory in different discipline. Set Theory, Computer Science and axiomatizations of Set Theory Mathematics is the study of numbers, and counting, and measuring, but that is only the beginning. Mathematics involves the study of number patterns and relationships. Set theory is an area of mathematics that deals with inconceivable numbers, and bottomless concepts such as infinity. The history of set theory is relatively dissimilar from the history of most other parts of mathematics. Set Theory was founded by Georg Cantor in 1874 in his paper "On a Characteristics Property of All Real Algebraic Numbers". Naive set theory is fun, and as we saw with Cantor's diagonalization, it can produce some incredibly beautiful results. But as we've seen before, in the simple world of naive set theory, it's easy to run into trouble, in the form of Russell's paradox and a variety of related problems. The sake of completeness, Russell's paradox concerns the set R={s | s ∉ s}. Is R∈R? If R∈R, then by the definition of R∉R. But by definition, if R∉R, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within these thirteens states, there were two groups that consisted of the Federalists and the Antifederalists. The Federalists supported the Constitution; however, the Antifederalists opposed the Constitution. The Federalists were led by an individual by the name of Alexander Hamilton. Overall, the Federalists main points of discussion were a strong national government and commercial growth of the nation, along with financial policies that revolved around central banks. The Antifederalists were obviously opposed to the Constitution, and they were in full support of the Articles of Confederation. The Antifederalists leaders, like Patrick Henry, believed the Constitution challenged individual's liberty. The Antifederalists acted in factions. As the Federalists believed in a strong central government, the Antifederalists thought this would get in the way of state sovereignty. Furthermore, other factions within the Antifederalists believed a strong, central government would reflect the government of Great Britain, in which they were trying to get away from. Although, as late as 1959, a federal judge still determined that a Mann Act conviction was apt simply for having the intent to violate the law, as long as the man had crossed state line. He stated, "Proof that he accomplished his illicit purpose is not necessary to conviction." However, the terms of the law have been amended multiple times since its passage. The Mann Act still exists, but it had become broadly viewed as antiquated by the 1970s. For example, Jackie Gleason's character, Sheriff Buford T. Analysis of Daystar by Rita Dove Essay While reading the poem "Daystar," written by Rita Dove, its readers most likely do not ask thought– provoking questions like "Why did Dove write this?" or "What is the true meaning behind this poem?" but the poem has deeper meaning than what its outside layer portrays. Dove, an African American woman born in 1952, has not only viewed the racism of the United States society, but she has also seen how gender can or cannot play a role in the advancement of a person's life (Rita Dove: The Poetry Foundation). The poem "Daystar" not only takes an outside perspective on the everyday life of a woman, but it closely relates to Dove's family history. Dove uses the experiences of her life as a woman, and the knowledge gained from living in countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Daystar" comes from a book of poems written by Dove entitled Thomas and Beulah, which tells both the real and unreal stories of Dove's maternal grandparents (Stein 64). Unlike Dove, who grew up during a time of women's rights, her grandmother most likely did not have an admired career as a housewife. In discussing Thomas and Beulah, Stein explains, "It is almost painful to witness Thomas and Beulah, two people clearly devoted to each other, continually misinterpret each other's behavior" (70). Although "Daystar" is not necessarily written from an autobiographical perspective, Dove is using the research of her family and her own experiences to welcome us into the lives of the distressed Beulah. Beyond the already mentioned first line about how Beulah "wanted a little room for thinking (1)," there are many other evidences in the poem that prove this woman desires more than what she currently has. Even today, women are viewed as the main caretakers of their children and the ones who are expected to respond to the domestic duties at home, and this is what Beulah exemplifies. In the next lines of "Daystar," obligations of motherhood are further explained as Dove writes, "but she saw diapers steaming on the line, /a doll slumped behind the door" (2–3). Both the diapers and the doll imply that it is Beulah's job to take care of the laundry and clean up the mess that her children have left behind. Furthermore, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In early summer, ALW hired fifteen recently graduated individuals and 12 have already taken positions at other firms. There needs to be a system in place to develop and foster relationships for these individuals within the firm. This firm has a high turnover rate of new hires; currently, the turnover rate is 85%. Firms that are considered the Big Four are offering mentoring programs that make their employees invested in the company's future. Unfortunately, if ALW does not start to compete with this issue, more employees will be lost to the Big Four Firms. Implementing a strong mentoring program that fosters individual and personal growth within the company is vital for the future of this firm. This includes setting up and maintaining a mentoring program. The mentoring program will be set up with individuals from all levels of achievement, that are willing to devote a portion of their time to the firm's prosperity. Investing in the future of this firm, through a formal mentoring program is a vital step. I look forward to working with you throughout this process. • 37. The Impact Of Internet On The Internet 1. Introduction Internet connectivity is a major problem in developing countries. Broadband penetration is severely limited, and access to useful information is crippled as a result. Where there do exist means to go online, such as ADSL connections or mobile internet, the connection generally suffers from unstable throughput and frequent outages. As a result, instant access to useful information is hampered. In an increasingly knowledge dependent world, to be disconnected from that knowledge poses a serious drawback. Students rely on the internet for academics, sportspeople for improvements to their game and medical professionals are increasingly turning to online portals for reference, and thus the knowledgebases on the internet contribute to making life better. A significant contributor to this gradual integration of the internet as a reference guide into everyday life has been Wikipedia. About Wikipedia: Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia , is a free to use, freely modifiable Online Encyclopedia which is run by the not–for–profit Wikimedia Foundation. It was founded by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger in 2001. It is the most popular and most extensive reference guide on the Internet. When in reality they are hiding the truth from the U.S citizens whether it is education, laws, or news from the media. The United States government continues to buy/adopt new government plans through media that we are not always fully aware of. "We have a right to know which companies receive government contracts, how to collect insurance benefits and social security payments and what public school educational reform will look like. But too often, the government uses its information machinery to do more than simply inform us about a policy. Sometimes, it tries to persuade us to adopt a particular position, regardless of its efficacy." What Hamilton and Kosar are saying is that the government is very bias about media propaganda and persuading the people of the United States about plans/regulations that we barely understand or know about, into using our own money towards what they want. • 60. What Aspects Of The Museum Provide The Visitor With An... "When we say that something is original ... we are referring to the aspect of what can be called authenticity or genuineness, that which is unique not because it is necessarily different in topic or technique, but because it embodies one person's experience with deep particularity." This statement, made by the poet Jane Hirshfield, has provoked a reevaluation of my ideas of an authentic work of art, especially within the museum. Authenticity has some definite, and some more vague definitions. In the following paper, I plan to explore what aspects of the museum provide the visitor with an authentic experience, allowing them to access something authentic. Three institutions will be examined: Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library (Winterthur), the Barnes Foundation, and Philadelphia's Magic Gardens (PMG); each institution provides the visitor with a different type of experience, some more authentic than others. I would first like to start by examining Winterthur within the context of the article, "The Precession of Simulacra," by Jean Baudrillard. Baudrillard describes different levels and types of simulacra that exist, which I view as a sort of scale between simulation and hyperreality, where the real is something entirely separate. Authenticity falls within this model in the real. Winterthur exists in a state of hyperreality. It is a historic house, which was once the home of Henry Francis du Pont, a collector of American decorative arts. In the 1950s the house was converted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 62. Positive Effects Of The Green Revolution The term Green Revolution was first used in 1968 when people realized that a revolution in agriculture was taking place. In this revolution many technology transfer initiatives were created which led to a drastic increase of production worldwide as well as innovative ideas that created large supplies of food very quickly. Incorporating technological ideas such as mechanization, which led to the massive increase of production of food at the expense of creating larger but fewer farms, is what really gave headway to the mass production of food. With the creation of so much food there needed to be advancements in the way we grew our food such as synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and GMOs. With these technological changes in the way food was farmed and produced many people were able to benefit from the outcomes of the Green Revolution. The food was able to be made and sold so cheaply that the revolution, to some degree, helped alleviate world hunger by providing people with food that diversified their diet. However, with these changes in agriculture came changes in the socio economy. Many small farms went into debt and lost their land while the wealthier farms were able to grow the amount of land they had, thereby giving rise to new ways of farming, like monoculture farming. Overall, the Green Revolution changed the world in both positive and negative ways. By using new and old technologies to create a system where food could be made cheaply and at large quantities, we see many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 66. New Semi Empirical Design Procedures For The Determination... Karlsrud(2014) proposed new semi empirical design procedures for the determination of ultimate shaft friction and load–displacement response of axially loaded piles in clay are proposed. A main basis for developing the new procedures was detailed review and reassessment of results from a series of pile load–test programs published over the past 30 years on piles well instrumented to monitor soil and pore pressures as well as load distribution along the pile shafts. Two new alternative procedures are proposed for predicting the ultimate shaft friction: an a approach, which uses the normalized un drained strength based on direct simple shear tests as a main correlation parameter, and a b approach, which uses the over consolidation ratio (OCR). Both approaches include the effects of the plasticity index of the clay, Ip, which is shown to have an especially large impact on the correlations when Ip 25%. In practical design, it is recommended that both methods be used and design values be selected for the ultimate shaft friction that represents an average for the two methods. Pile diameter, length, or stiffness or whether the pile is open or closed–ended seem to have little impact on the shaft friction. However, a moderate effect of pile length or flexibility on the total ultimate pile capacity comes out of the proposed t–z curves, which include some post peak reduction. The main purpose of the study was to reduce the basic uncertainties involved with relating ultimate shaft ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. Gödel's Incompleteness Theorems Gödel's incompleteness theorems were mathematically proven results but they had broad philosophical consequences. They were proofs that would show that there are certain true propositions that are improvable. They were epistemological truths, meaning they dealt with the nature of knowledge itself by proving an absolute limitation on what we can mathematical prove. (Goldstein 2013) To assess the effects of Gödel's results, the theorems themselves will be outlined, as will the three schools of logicism, formalism and intuitionism, then the effects of the theorems on the schools shall be considered. To appreciate the consequences of the incompleteness theorems there is a need to explain the key terms of consistency and completeness and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Struik 1987, 203). Logicism disagrees with Intuitionism as it asserts that we do not create knowledge but simply reveal existing truths (Brown 2008, 125). Since in intuitionism 'abstract entities are admitted only if they are man made' (Snapper 1979, 209). Brouwer's criticism of Logicism is that they use the principles of finite sets and their subsets as a form of logic beyond and prior to mathematics and used it to reason about infinite sets (Kleene 1952, 46–7). Intuitionism was developed as a reaction to Cantor's set theory and its paradoxes. Intuitionists sought to rebuild mathematics from the 'bottom–up'. They saw Mathematics as 'an activity'; Mathematicians do not access pre–existing knowledge but construct knowledge (Brown 2008, 121). Brouwer saw logic as an unreliable basis for mathematics and therefore Brouwer's intuitionism sees mathematics as having its foundations with 'Ur–Intuition, a basic intuition of the natural numbers' (Struik 1987, 202, Palmgren 2009). Its fundamental and defining characteristic is its analysis of what it means for a statement to be true. In Brouwer's original intuitionism he demands 'truth though constructivity' (Struik 1987, 202). This means that he only allowed entities that had a clear and definable method of construction. For example, in this way Brouwer would accept the idea of possible infinitely, as it required a continuous set of constructions and 'remains forever in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. Advancement of Civic Engagement by Community Foundations... The role of civic engagement in neighborhood revitalization, particularly in low income African American communities, has gained increased awareness and in recent years. Community, nonprofit, and government leaders now view civic engagement as a critical component of effective solutions as they seek to address crime, unemployment, low graduation rates and numerous other neighborhood challenges. Several successful initiatives have come to fruition and provide strong evidence of the benefits that increased civic engagement provides. Experts commonly define civic engagement as individual and group actions that collectively address general issues of concern that are public in nature. Civic engagement takes many forms such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such efforts are by no means new as neighborhood revitalization through the civic engagement of residents in low income communities has long been a funding priority of the philanthropic community. The African American community in particular, hard hit by social and economic challenges, presents many opportunities for the increased civic engagement on the part of residents to promote changes in approaches and strategies. Community foundations have the resources and commitment to community revitalization to make significant inroads into solving the problems in low income communities. Tester, Ruel, Anderson, Reitzes, and Oakley (2011) describe issues such as urban renewal as directly responsible for the decline and destruction of low–income African American communities. They argue that strategies such as relocating residents of public housing and high crime areas for example are not solutions to the root cause of the problem – lack of support, inadequate resources, and isolation. Further, relocating residents of these communities does not result in improved quality of life. In fact, those moved out of one low income community typically migrate to a similar type of community that is usually only a few miles from where they originally resided. It is at the community level in everyday activities that citizens can experience the most measurable and impactful degree of civic engagement. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. The New Curriculum For The Foundation Stage In 2008 the new curriculum for the foundation stage in wales began its roll out. Its aim was to bring consistency and continuity to children's education, thus transforming early year's education in Wales. The principles on which the curriculum is based are that children should be provided with a good basis for future learning and the ability to apply their learning to everyday situations. Leighton Andrews, the former education minister, said in an article on the Welsh Government website that the curriculum was designed "to allow all children to flourish whatever their stage of development or learning ability" (Andrews, 2010). The Framework for Children's Learning for 3 to 7 Year olds in Wales (here forth known as 'The Framework') outlines 7 key areas of learning. These are 'Personal and social development, well–being and cultural diversity', 'Language, literacy and communication skills', 'Mathematical development', 'Welsh language development', 'Knowledge and understanding of the world', 'Physical development' and 'Creative development'. The curriculum focuses on holistic learning, meaning that whilst there are 7 separate areas of learning, they are to be taught in a way which entwines them together allowing for children to develop skills such as everyday problem solving by understanding that mathematics is not merely a school subject but a skill which is used in everyday life. This essay will explore the ways in which the curriculum should be delivered to foundation stage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Behavior Modification : An Organization Of Health And The... Behaviour Modification Assignment Behaviour being studied and why this behaviour has been chosen: Behaviour can be defined as the actions taken by an individual to adapt to the surrounding environment (Campbell, Cumming, Gerrig, Wilkes, & Zimbardo, 2012). Sometimes behaviour is unfavorable and therefore can be changed using behaviour modification. Weiten (2013) defines behaviour modification as the changing of behaviour by systematically applying principles of conditioning. The target behaviour I have chosen to modify is daily fruit and vegetable intake, as this is an overt behaviour and not a personal trait. Daily fruit and vegetable intake can be considered as the number of fruit and vegetable servings consumed per day. As the sizes and forms of fruit and vegetables vary considerably, I have decided to base my serving size on recommendations by 5+ A Day Charitable Trust, which is endorsed by both the Ministry of Health and the New Zealand Heart Foundation. They measure one serving size as a handful i.e. what can fit in the palm in of one's hand (5+ A Day Charitable Trust, 2013). I have decided to use this measurement because the size of my palm does not vary and can be used in any situation, regardless of location or time. Additionally, all forms of fruits and vegetables will be included, for example fresh, frozen, canned, and dried, as recommended by the Ministry of Health's Food and Nutrition Guidelines (Ministry of Health, 2003a). My intake will be recorded each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
