Ian Cray, Diageo plc's Treasurer, looked out of his office window onto the busy streets of London in
October 2000. The London–based consumer goods company Diageo had recently announced its
intention to sell its packaged food subsidiary, Pillsbury, to General Mills. Earlier in the year, Diageo
also announced its intent to sell 20% of its Burger King subsidiary through an initial public offering
during
2001, to be followed by a spin–off of the remainder of Burger King after December 2002. If these
transactions took place, the firm would be focused exclusively on the beverage alcohol industry. As

The firm was organized along four business segments. The largest was the Spirits and Wine
business, which produced and marketed a portfolio of beverage alcohol such as scotch, vodka, gin,
and tequila. Diageo's brands included Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, J&B, Bailey's, Gordon's,
Tanqueray,
Cuervo, and Malibu. This division was not only the biggest (with revenues of £5 billion and the
leading market share in the U.S. and U.K. markets) but also the fastest growing of Diageo's
businesses, with sales growth of 8% for the year. More than 70% of sales and sales growth came
from the Europe and North
America markets. This segment enjoyed the largest profit margins of all of the segments, with 15%
operating margins and growth in total operating profits of 15%. The high levels of operating profits
reflected Diageo's strategy of concentrating on premium brands and pricing. (Exhibits 1 and 2
contain historical financial information for Diageo and its business segments.)
Diageo's second largest division was Guinness Brewing, which produced and sold beer to markets
around the world. This segment, while substantially smaller in sales than the Spirits and Wine
Division, was a close second to it in terms of operating profit growth rate. Due to the similarity in
the products and distribution channels for these two businesses, Diageo was

Cubism or purism is reflected in the Villa Savoye by its relation to a cubist painting. It had scattered,
versatile spaces, sharp edges, smooth–surfaces, geometric volumes are used. In the villa Savoye this
is translated through rectangular blocks of concrete, steel, and glass. Also in the fact that the Villa
Savoye was designed to be viewed in multiple perspectives, like a cubist or purist painting that was
fragmented into various segments to show the multiple views. Cubist painting should be viewed as
several experiences placed together to show a sequence of events. Much like the Villa Savoye, this
was meant to be experienced like a motion picture. Uninterrupted frames of contrasting, flexible
rooms. You were meant to walk through and experience it as a whole, whilst appreciating the
individuality and versatility of each space. The continuation of the transparent materials, applied in
the ribbon windows and sliding doors is a feature also seen in purism or cubism. As well as creating
regularity of geometric shapes. The purity in the sense of colour and ornaments within the Villa
Savoye also represents Cubism. The plane white exterior walls and generally neutral colour scheme
on the interior is typical of purism; Le Corbusier's interpretation of cubism. Clean, subtle, simple
elements make this Cubist villa stand out in Le Corbusier's architecture.

In the first five days after the Jesuit Missionaries came to the Yaqui country, they had converted five
thousand Yaqui natives. The Yaqui's have taken this convergence and now have what is considered
to be a complex syncretism of their native and Catholic beliefs. One does not have a superiority over
the other, there is no confusing one over the other and yet they are the same. Itom Aye (Our mother)
is the Virgin Mary, Itom Achai (Our Father) is Jesus Christ. In Yaqui myths Jesus appears as a
culture hero. In this myth the Pascola (Old man of the ceremony), deer and ... Show more content on

Yet, the animistic religion the natives had formerly practiced was never fully replaced–it was
adapted into Catholic teachings, and this new belief system was allowed to flourish.
(http://www.gotquestions.org/syncretism–religious.html)
By allowing this we see the formation of two religions, which allow the Yaqui to still practice their
now Catholic faith and yet keep the traditional heritage and culture alive. This is best said in the
following: Religious syncretism at its best is not old truths in new guise or just old or new truths
confused; rather, through a creative dialectic, new religious insights have been born. Herbert
Richardson phrases the need for such creative interpenetration very nicely: "Christianity has been a
Western religion too long. While there is strength in the West, there is also a great lack.
Christianity...must be strengthened and renewed by prophets from the East. (Herbert Richardson 's

prenatal stage and it consolidates on the postnatal period. The oral motor functions in early
childhood (OMF) are part of the thin oral adaptive development, heavily depending on the central
nervous system. At birth, oral appliance acts as a complete functional unit and the breastfeeding
practice will favor the OMF coordination (sucking, swallowing), oral motor activity and the
craniofacial growth. From the first six months, a complementary feeding is introduced, jaw
movements, tongue and the lips act like independent structures; and then it starts a chewing process,
also known as mastication and the OMF will depend on the diet type, texture, consistency of food
and feeding techniques. In this way, is formed a group of factors that affect the craniofacial growth
and development, explained by the action of the muscles over functional matrices and skeleton units
during the function (functional matrix) and by the influence of the environment about customs and
breeding habits that also both will have an impact on the OMF. In Colombia, there are not
longitudinal studies that describe the behavior of the OMF variables. Objective: Set the periods of
functional oral motor achievements during the chronological development of children aged 0–3
years old. Sample: 265 Colombian children, Bogota residents (116 girls, 149 boys), children's
eligibility was determined by inclusion and exclusion

El consumidor de la pulpa de frutas desconoce el origen, tratamiento y proceso del producto,

Para garantizar la calidad de un producto es recomendable establecer un sistema de control a través

56. Colombians Studying Abroad Essay
Colombians Studying Abroad
Despite low overall English proficiency, when Colombians opt for overseas study they go in large
numbers to English–speaking countries. UNESCO puts the total number of Colombian tertiary level
students abroad at 23,602 in 2012, with more than 8,800 of them in the US, Australia, New Zealand,
Canada, and the UK. The top ten destination countries for Colombian outbound mobility (again
based on UNESCO data) are as follows:
· United States 6,097;
· Spain 5,855;
· France 2,979;
· Australia 1,245;
· Germany 1,238;
· Italy 995;
· United Kingdom 918;
· Chile 773;
· Canada 510;
· Cuba 454.
While all English–speaking countries are in demand, the prevalence of the Spanish language in the
US is an advantage. Traditionally high, Colombian interest in studying in England has decreased
recently due to work permit changes and the relatively high cost of living in the UK. Interest in
study abroad opportunities in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, meanwhile, are all on the rise.
Possibly due to variances in methodology, the OECD gives a slightly different picture than
UNESCO of Colombian mobility in its 2014 Education at a Glance report. It also leaves out non–

4. The Renaissance and Reformism
The reformation, owing both to the wishes of its academic founders and to the popular tendencies
underlying it, concerned itself largely with popular preaching. It is a widespread error to assume that
there was little popular preaching in the Middle Ages. It is true that there were many bishops and
parish priests who shirked their canonical duties in this respect, but there was much popular
instruction; there was, especially among the friars, much simple, at times even sensational, mission
preaching. But the deepening of religious life that preceded the reformation led men to employ with
greater diligence all means of helping others, and popular preaching was thus more widely used.
Here again, both a conservative and a revolutionary tendency are observable. On the one hand, we
can trace the fuller but continuous history of the older use of sermons. On the other hand, we find
the tendency, seen at its strongest in Zwinglianism, to exalt the sermon above the sacraments, to put
the pulpit in place of the altar. Both tendencies made the literature of sermons more popular, and
more significant. But, in the literature thus revived, the

has what it takes to be considered an approved program, I had to show my parents that this
experience is worth it as well. I am a first generation student which made getting their support
difficult. My parents have spent almost their whole lives in small New Hampshire towns. Leaving

79. Designing A New Software Tool Essay
Abstract
A new software tool, which aims to interactively discover the micro–organization of pyramidal
neurons, has been developed recently. This tool is the PyramidalExplorer which makes possible the
exploration of regional differences in the pyramidal cell morphology by integrating quantitative
morphological information regarding the cell's morphology with applied functional models. This
tool is known for its navigation within the 3D dataset and for its unique filter and content–based
retrieval operations. More than its possible contributions to the advancement of neuroanatomy, this
tool is also expected to solve problems on brain diseases and to initiate improvements in the field of
microanatomy.
Introduction Microtechnology is the utilization of very small, technical objects. It has a wide scope
which includes microelectronics, microsurgery, microcomputer equipment, and space microdevices.
The application of microtechnology poses a lot of benefits for science and medical research. It
makes use of less space, utilizes less construction material, thus it costs less money (The Gale
Encyclopedia of Science, 2004). Furthermore, technologies have developed to create and produce
micromachines and microscale tools. One field that is surely to take advantage of these
developments of new microscale instruments is medicine, especially microsurgery. Through the
developments of these new technologies, surgeons may be able to gain access to the body's
microanatomy, consequently
