Silt Loam the official state soil because its significance and importance it brings to the state. Francis
D. Hole was a soil science professor at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and he stressed the

I discussed early in the essay about the productiveness of the soil and its contribution to many crops
in Wisconsin. I strongly feel Antigo Silt Loam is a big contributor to the successfulness of

Native American Themes In Louise Erdrich's 'Antelope Wife'
Louise Erdrich is a Native American author from Little Falls, Minnesota. Her mother is a Chippewa
Indian and her father is German American. Through her writing, she demonstrates native ideas and
culture. Native American themes are often present in her works. She shines a light on both
perspectives of her background. Some of her works mention reservations in Minnesota and North
Dakota which connects to her birthplace and where she grew up. Erdrich did not really look into her
native heritage until she went to Dartmouth and they had just opened the Native American
department. She delved more into the subject and started to use it in her writing. Erdrich gives
readers, whether or not they are Native American or not, a look at Native American culture from the
eyes of both natives and others in society. This theme is present in many of her works including:
Antelope Wife and Future Home of a Living God. Antelope Wife is a short story by Louise Erdrich.
Antelope Wife is about a Native American man belonging to the Chippewa tribe in Minnesota who
is a teacher. One day he laid his eyes on four women: three daughters and their mother. He was
determined to have the mother and he ends up kidnapping her. He gets her (the antelope) to fall in
love with her, but he was warned by Jimmy Badger that these women are generally curse the men
who go after them. Towards the end of the story, she becomes overweight and ugly and the man did
not expect this to happen to him. There is already a connection to native culture in the title of this
short story, 'Antelope'. Antelope is a spirit animal in the native heritage. Antelope symbolizes being

Anishinabe Culture Observation Report
I had the opportunity to visit the Ziibiwing Center of Anishinabe Culture and Lifeways on Saturday,
April 15, 2017.It is located on the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Reservation in Mount Pleasant,
Michigan. I live in Shepherd, which is only about fifteen minutes away from Mount Pleasant, so I
went to the Ziibiwing Center over Easter break. My parents, my sister, and a friend who was staying
with us for the holiday also decided to go to the museum. The Ziibiwing Center is a museum that
aims to inform the surrounding community about the beliefs, traditions, and history of the

Often, we focus on analyzing the values of our current (Western) culture and the cultures preceding
it, in order to better understand why we believe and do certain things. However, all cultures are
based off of human nature – not just Western culture. Analyzing and studying other cultures as well
as one's own, will give a person a greater understanding human nature. It will give a better picture of
human nature in a universal context. What do all peoples across history, and across in the world,
believe in? What geological factors seem to influence the formation of certain beliefs and traditions?
An example of similarities between cultures of varying regions is how, in the Anishinabek culture,
teachings and stories are traditionally passed on through oral tradition. The same is true of ancient
Greek culture, as seen with Homer's The Odyssey, and of medieval European culture, as embodied

So far in the year of 2017 there have been 62.2 million volunteers, together they have served a total
of 7.8 billion hours worth of community service. Whenever a day came up where we would
volunteer for school I would always hear about people skipping that day. I never understood why
they wanted to skip. I have always enjoyed taking time to help others whether it was just helping
them clean or going to an organization to help pack food. It was always better to do something than
do nothing.

Since the year 2011 there has a been an ongoing decrease in volunteers throughout the United
States. The United States is also at the lowest volunteer rate that it has ever been.
It's been proven that teenagers (ages 13–20 years old) actually benefit from doing community
service. The service benefits them personally, when applying to jobs and more importantly college. I
did notice that having multiple accounts of community service did in fact help me when it came to
applications. It has shown that I have developed a sense of responsibility and social connections
throughout my community. By volunteering it has also helped me condense my search for a career,
by showing me what they do day to day.

This is a powerful image that clearly shows the crushed Jerry and his increasing feeling of solitude.
Another use of the setting comes in the form of the characterization. A big contributor to the story
and feel of the film is the characterization of the characters in the film. Again, this Midwestern
setting becomes obvious when the viewer hears the strong upper Midwest accents used by all the
residents of rural Minnesota. Midwesterners have a reputation for being exceedingly friendly and
moral, and that becomes prominent in this film where a number of less than moral actions are
portrayed.
Fargo therefore portrays two main types of characters: moral and amoral. Morality is personified by
Marge Gunderson, the pregnant police chief on the trail of the criminals. She portrays the
stereotypical "nice" attitude in nearly all of her encounters and it takes quite a lot for her to break
this demeanor. Even though she may be investigating the murder scene or interviewing suspects in
the case, she maintains this even–tempered friendly attitude.
This optimistic and positive outlook hides her very sharp mind for crime, and contrasts greatly with
the sinister things that are taking place around her. This emphasizes the nature of the events that

Before registering for this class I had little to no knowledge of indigenous people. Growing up with
the limited teachings and history of indigenous people I believed they were very primitive, outdated
and dying race. I didn't really know about their culture, their language or their way of life, so

Conjoined twins from Uganda were successfully separated after a 16–hour surgery last week in
Columbus, Ohio, the hospital said in a statement on Tuesday.
The 11–month–old twin girls Acen and Apio were connected at the hip and pelvic region. They are
expected to make a full recovery, according to the Nationwide Children's Hospital.
Two separate individuals
Three–dimensional modeling as well as intra–operative neurophysiological monitoring was used to
help the neurosurgeons divide their intertwined spines, muscles and tissues, said Dr. Gail Besner,
chief of pediatric surgery at the hospital. Plastic surgery covered the areas where they were
conjoined.

check the effect of heredity and environment on intelligence. This study was conducted on
monozygotic and dizygotic twins separated from each other in infancy and reared apart.
Approximately 50 hours of interviews and testing was done on each twin. For measuring
intelligence, the WAIS test and the Raven test was used. The correlated IQ rates of the monozygotic

Also the study was cross cultural and included people from all over the world and was relatively
large so the results were more generalisable. One question about the reliability of the study is that
the twins have a common prenatal environment and if this time period is the most vital in deciding
how the childs brain is wired then it is the environment having an effect on them. This explains
similar iqs in fraternal twins as compared to siblings. Also the twins usually spent the first few
months together in the same environment before being separated this may be the reason for similar
traits and so it would be the environment influencing intelligence. Many of the twins in the study
spent a few years together after being reunited before the study was conducted and this too could
