A brief introduction of Data communication and its components. In these slides you will learn about data communication, its components, and little bit of working of a network & decoding and encoding.
3. Definition of DC
“Data Communication is a process of
transferring data electronically form one place to
another through the different medium”.
4. Basic component of DC
Sender
•Sends Messages
Message
•Can be Audio, file or Video or a text file.
Encoder and Decoder
•Encodes and Decodes Messages
Transmission Medium
•Can be a cable or wireless medium
Encoder and Decoder
•Encodes and Decodes Messages
Receiver
•Receives the message sent by Sender
6. Message
The message is the data or information to
be communicated. It may consist of
followings:
Text
Number
Picture
Sound
Video
Or combination of All
7. Sender
Sender is the device that sends the
message. It is also called source and
transmitter.
The sender can be a computer, fax
machine or mobile phone etc.
8. Receiver
Receiver is the device that receives the
message.
It is also called Sinker and Destination. The
receiver must be capable to accept the
message form the sender.
The receiver can be a computer, fax machine
or mobile phone etc.
9. Transmission Medium
Transmission medium is the path trough
which the messages are transferred. It is used
to carry messages form one place to another.
It is also called communication channel.
10. Encode and Decode
• Encode is a device that converts “Digital signal
into Analog signal”.
• Decoder is a device that converts the “Analog
signal into Digital signal”.
