5. Just Femme, an e-zine for women, in collaboration with Bangalore Film Society and National
Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) announces the inaugural edition of the event 'pEtE maatu'. The three-
day festival will comprise a film festival of short films and documentaries, photo exhibition, panel
discussion and blogathon on the theme Women and the City. It will be held from Dec 17-19 at the
NGMA Bangalore.

1. The 2011 International Conference on Future Environment and Energy(ICFEE
2011) will be held from 25 to 27 March 2011 in Sanya, China. Papers are due by

2. The Department of Middle East, South Asia, and African Studies at Columbia is
offering an University Graduate Student Conference on "Imaginary Geographies"

Opportunities
1. The EAERE-FEEM-VIU European Summer School in Resource and
Environmental Economics will be held from July 3rd-9th, 2011 in Venice, Italy. It is
only open to doctoral and postdoctoral students.
2. Applications are invited for the Kinship conservation fellowship, which is a month-
long in-residence program at Western Washington University (June 28-July 29,
2011). Eighteen Fellows are selected each year and become part of a global Fellows
community now numbering 154 Fellows in 40 countries. The Fellowship includes a
$6,000 stipend award; lodging is also provided. Online applications must be
submitted by 24 January 2011.
3. State Bank of India is accepting applications for their Youth for India Program, a
fellowship for students who want to work for social change through rural outreach
and finance. Details are on their website.
4. Samvada announces a *Youth Activists Fellowship Programme* for individuals
who are working with disadvantaged and excluded youth in India.Details

Events
1. The Bangalore Queer Habba will be on, all of this month, with plays, and music
and discussions. For a schedule, go here.
2. The Kabir Project will be presenting a two-day festival on Sindhi Sufi poetry, on
the 20-21 November, 2010. They will focus on the work of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai,
performed by folk singers. Details will be released later, but they can be contacted

Talks
As part of the Goethe Institute's CoLab-Goethe Lecture Series on Practices in
Contemporary Art & Architecture, Mysore-based artist N.S. Harsha will deliver a

Volunteering, Fellowships and Other Opportunities
1. Visions Global Empowerment is a non-profit NGO serving youth and communities through
education. They began work with war orphans in Sri Lanka in 2003 and later expanded to schools and
communities in South India. They are currently looking for volunteers.

2.Dhaaran Productions Bangalore (www.dhaaran.com) is looking for actors for its upcoming play and
activities.To register for the audition , with a brief introduction, please write
to:dhaaran.productions@yahoo.com . The requirements are for four Male actors (Age group: 20
-35 yrs), Two Female actors (Age group: 20-35yrs), Actors required to come prepared with a 3-5 min
monologue/act. and actors should be very versatile and have the capability to play various age
groups in the same act. Auditions will be held on 9th and 10th October.

3. The Asia Pacific Leadership Program is a nine-month program (August to mid-May) with a
minimum five-month residency requirement. The APLP empowers future leaders with the knowledge,
skills, experiences and supportive community needed to successfully navigate personal and regional
change in the 21st century. Applications for the Fall Session are invited.

4. The World Forestry Institute is offering a six to twelve month fellowship program. The deadline for
applications is December 1 for the program starting Feb 1st.

5. The 10th NCCR Climate Summer School will be held from 4-9 September 2011 in Geneva. The

1. The Centre for Women's Global Leadership has made its 2010 Take Action kit available online, for free. The
kit has been developed to encourage all campaign participants to plan a peace vigil or peace march for Monday,
November 29th in a show of visible, global solidarity against militarism & violence against women. It can be

Volunteering
1. A group of parents of differently-abled children are meeting to discuss the new proposed disability law and
put together recommendations for the drafting committee. They need volunteers to play with the kids and keep
