Balanced Evaluation Paper
It is important for program managers and decision makers to know if their program is accomplishing
its founding purpose. To provide that insight and aid in decisions about a current or proposed course
of action, a program evaluation can be a very critical tool to determine how well a program is
working and what impact it is having on the problem it is attempting to address. With that said, how
are intended users and beneficiaries of an evaluation supposed to know if the evaluation they have
been given is a good product, with enough substance to guide them in making critical decisions that
will affect the livelihood of program workers, the wellbeing of program participants, and influence
the use of the limited resources available to address ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The effectiveness of the program and the usefulness of the evaluation can only be realized if the
potential users are shown that the costs and benefits of changing a lifestyle or other practices are
preferable to the way things were before the program was offered or new knowledge provided by
the evaluation made available (Saunders, 2012). Evaluators must provide answers to those who
commissioned their study to show the value and impact the program is having or what need remains.
It is important to acknowledge that good programs can fail if program participants or the community
as a whole fail to see the value in services that are provided and reject the operation. Evaluators
have an opportunity to provide information about why the program is important to the wellbeing of
a segment of the population and how that will in turn effect society in

Technical Writing Vs Technical Communication
In today's highly technologically oriented world, people have begun to communicate in innovative
ways, which include, inter alia, telephones, cell–telephones, smartphones, handheld electronic
devices, tablets, email, video conferencing, instant messaging or text messaging. With the advent of
the information revolution at the turn of the century, the concept of professional communication has
been repeatedly redefined to accommodate the contemporary trends, methods and changes that
communication in the corporate world has witnessed. Many of the theories in professional
communication are derived from traditional communication, technical writing, rhetorical theory and
ethics. According to Julia Wood (2004), communication is "a systemic process in which individuals
interact with and through symbols to create and interpret meanings."
A technical communicator is responsible for writing documents, designing and creating graphics,
designing and creating websites, copyediting other documents, examining documents for usability,
illustrations, and much more. Technical writing is now known as technical communications because
a technical writer does so much more than just write. Technical writing is a specialized form of
exposition: that is, written communication done on the job, especially in fields with specialized
vocabularies, such as science, engineering, technology, and the health sciences. The biggest
difference between technical communication and the other kinds of writing you

First off, it was really amazing to see all the different types of errors that can occur while using an
EHR. Quite frankly, I found both articles extremely interesting and educational. In the first article,
Bowman states that one problem that can occur while using an EHR has to do with the software
system itself. She explains how software systems can have flaws that put the patient's information in
jeopardy because these systems can be acquire bugs and viruses which causes the patient's
information to be lost and/or deleted (Bowman, 2013). Other problems derived from EHR's are due
to the lack of user friendly features which make interfaces difficult to use. These type of issues can
mislead the user to enter wrong patient data into the system ... Show more content on

Usability And Technical Communication And Usability
In today's world, designing a website has become a piece of cake. With powerful designing tools
that are available online, anyone can design quality websites in a much shorter amount of time. But
the question to be asked is, "How would a website designer know that his/her website would be user
friendly?" Usability testing is the answer. By definition, usability testing is the evaluation of a
product or service by testing it on the user. Since the product is for the user, it is necessary that users
are involved during the process of creating a product or service. Today, usability testing is not only
limited to the field of information technology, but plays a major role in technical communication. In
this report, I will talk about usability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The central principle of technical communication has always been user focus. Technical
communicators are usually comfortable dealing with users from both technical and non–technical
backgrounds, since they gather information from the technical to communicate with the non–
technical. Technical communicators possess good analytical skills and tend to be familiar with
certain standards that involve interface design principles and style guides (Gaffney 2004).
Therefore, they possess skills that are required by usability professionals.
Today, technical communicators are not only writers of user assistance and related documents, but
they also work as website designers, information architects, content specialists and marketing
communication specialists, to name a few of the sub fields within the field of technical
communication.
USABILITY TECHNIQUES IN TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION
Technical communicators can incorporate certain usability techniques that help them to ensure a
great user experience. These basic usability techniques are as follows:
 Perform usability test on the user documents:
Technical communicators mostly work offshore, and due to the lengthiness of the user guide, testing
the entire document is not feasible most of the time. Therefore, technical communicators can choose
some complicated procedures that are important from a user's perspective, and perform usability test
on these procedures either remotely or one–on–one with the actual users.

Usability Testing
Usability testing is a technique used in user–centered interaction design to evaluate a product by
testing it on users. This can be seen as an irreplaceable usability practice, since it gives direct input
on how real users use the system.[1] This is in contrast with usability inspection methods where
experts use different methods to evaluate a user interface without involving users. Usability testing
focuses on measuring a human–made product's capacity to meet its intended purpose. Examples of
products that commonly benefit from usability testing are foods, consumer products, web sites or
web applications, computer interfaces, documents, and devices. Usability testing measures the
usability, or ease of use, of a specific object or set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
[edit] What usability testing is not Simply gathering opinions on an object or document is market
research or qualitative research rather than usability testing. Usability testing usually involves
systematic observation under controlled conditions to determine how well people can use the
product.[8] However, often both qualitative and usability testing are used in combination, to better
understand users' motivations/perceptions, in addition to their actions. Rather than showing users a
rough draft and asking, "Do you understand this?", usability testing involves watching people trying
to use something for its intended purpose. For example, when testing instructions for assembling a
toy, the test subjects should be given the instructions and a box of parts and, rather than being asked
to comment on the parts and materials, they are asked to put the toy together. Instruction phrasing,
illustration quality, and the toy's design all affect the assembly process. [edit] Methods Setting up a
usability test involves carefully creating a scenario, or realistic situation, wherein the person
performs a list of tasks using the product being tested while observers watch and take notes. Several
other test instruments such as scripted instructions, paper prototypes, and pre– and post–test
questionnaires are also used to gather feedback on the product

Liability In The Workplace: Hands-Work Usability Testing
Hands– Work Usability Testing Hands– Work Usability Testing Introduction Technology today
plays a key role in enhancing economic and social development. The rise of internet services across
different set ups has established a distinct and strong communication network, which is fundamental
is all spheres of life. A website is one of the key aspects that enhance business connections between
consumers and product sellers. The aspect of communication forms the basis of establishing and,
coming up with a user–friendly website (Neilsen, 1999). Such is a key to passing crucial messages
from one person to another. Consequently, applying user–testing techniques, and using checklists is
a way of counter checking the usability and effectively of a website in terms of communicating to
consumers and target audience from various places across the globe (Sullivan, 1996). This paper
presents an analysis of website and the effectively of its usability standard using an average

Digital Technology And Its Impact On The Future Of A...
1.0 INTRODUCTION
As digital technology becomes more prominent in every facet of life, one is required to own more
devices to enjoy all of the different aspects of it. A task analysis of a device that could combine all of
these different devices into one (the home media multitasking interface or HMMI) has been
accepted, and is attached in Appendix A for reference.
The report that follows is about prototyping, the next step in bringing the HMMI into existence. This
will include two design proposals based on the previous research attached in Appendix A. After
describing the proposals, one of them will be deemed viable and be chosen to move ahead to the
prototyping stage. Sketches of the chosen prototype will be attached in Appendix B. Along ... Show

After finding the optimal persona, the constraints of the project were discussed. These constraints
were be framed as Design for X (DfX), in which "X" represented goals for the design. Constraints
are very important to consider while designing because it gives the design team a clear framework to
work under, which will save time and money in the long run. The constraints considered were cost,
manufacturability and quality.
After deciding the persona and considering the constraints, potential users of the HMMI were
surveyed about what features they would expect/like it to have in a user analysis. The user analysis
concentrated on human factors that relate to the potential users of the HMMI, and from the
participants of the questionnaire sent out, an idea of what students are be looking for in this device
was gathered. Some of the answers were expected and already accounted for, yet some of the
feedback was enlightening, and the ideas that were viable were added to the design ideas. Knowing
what features to include, the team then did a task analysis on some of the high–level tasks that will
be included in the HMMI. The team used a hierarchical task analysis (HTA) software called Task
Architect to produce the task analysis. The HTA's were completed to understand what types of
subtasks are necessary for each of the required tasks. Basically, this step helped fill in the smaller
details and logistics of the features that were acquired in the user analysis. After

AIALS Case Study
Designing for Success As early as the 1980s, AIALS were used as tools in the classroom, albeit on a
much smaller scale. An artificially intelligent assessment learning systems that is designed for
success, is "user–centered and addresses user–relevant issues at all stages in whatever form is
appropriate" (Dillon, 1994, p. 19). This phenomena was supported by Hung et al. (2015) who
indicated that a system that is well–designed should allow its users to navigate it easily, use its
features and tools and respond appropriately to features of the systems. Hence, a well–designed
AIALS is intentionally designed according to usability principles and with features and tools to
yield learning gains for users. Generally, AIALS consists of four ... Show more content on

These dimensions are viewed as the fundamental user requirements for defining the functionalities
of a good user interface, hence according to the ISO 9241–210 standard, usability is the
measurement of how a product is used to accomplish specific tasks with effectiveness, efficiency
and satisfaction within a prescribed setting (Kaasinen et al., 2015). According to Chughtai, Zhang,
and Craig (2015) usability takes into account how easy it is to learn and use a system, including easy
navigation for average users. Nielsen (1994) posited that usability is a significant factor of interface
design in order to ensure a user–friendly system that is easy to use. Kodavali and Blessing (2011)
suggested that usability is an important factor when designing intelligent learning systems,
otherwise, the goal/s of the system may be defeated. Additionally, Lin, Wu, and Hsueh (2014)
indicated that recent studies on usability testing of an AIALS revealed that there is a direct positive
relationship between usability and learning effectiveness. The integration of usability principles in
the design and development of AIALS is important. It involves a user–centered focus approach that
is used to increase the overall effectiveness of learning systems (Hung et al., 2015); Sharp & Preece,
2011).

For this report, 3 of the 10 Heuristic principles proposed by Jakob Nielsen were used to briefly
evaluate the website aiming to identify major usability issues with the site. These Heuristic
principles used were;
1. Consistency and Standards
2. Visibility of System Status and
3. Match between Systems and Real World
Some Usability issues found from this evaluation were;

2). This should be properly categorized.

Another usability issue is that users clicking on the "Photos" or "Gallery" link on the site are
expected to see pictures of different meals being served and some interiors of the restaurant. The
"Gallery" link shows abstract pictures not related to the site (see Fig .3) and the "Photos" link shows
video clips of the restaurants rather than pictures. These shows lack of consistency.
Figure 3. Pictures shown in the Gallery menu
2.2 Visibility of System Status
It is assumed the first page that comes up on a website is its "home page" with some design features
to gives potential customers some insight on what the site is all about. The visual design of the site's
"home page" has failed to convey any substantial information that it is indeed a restaurant. Basta
pasta written on the home page meaning "Just Pasta" according to google is not just sufficient
enough to indicate it is a restaurant (see Fig. 4). According to Nielsen (1995), users should always
be informed about what is happening at all time on a system through the right feedbacks. A good
visual design of meals being served should be included at the background of the "home page".

USABILITY ENGINEERING ASSIGNMENT –2
Evaluation of Automated Web Usability Tools
1. Web Site Accessibility Inspection
The world population is aging. Today over 20 percent of the population is over 55 and that
percentage is growing rapidly. With enlarged fonts that the browsers support, the middle–distance
computer screen becomes much easier and less stressful to read. The Web page must be designed for
accessibility for those enlarged fonts to work correctly.
1.1 Information Provided by the Webtool
If the website is accessible that means that people with disabilities can use it. A blind person using a
screen reader or a talking browser can navigate the information and interact with it. A deaf person

All images need an 'alt' attribute. If the 'alt' attribute is not present in an image means that users who
cannot see the image will not understand what the image conveys.
We must make sure that the 'alt' attribute value is a useful, concise, and a clear description of the
image. Since the webtool analysis the entire webpage for issues and points out the reason behind the
issue, it was very helpful and easy to understand.

1.4 Report in terms of Changes/Recommendations for a Website
Manager
The Report that is generated by the Tenon Webtool not only helps the user to understand the
accessibility issues but also helps the developer or manager of the website to make corrections to
improve the accessibility of the webpage. In the below Figure 4, we can see the option of
Recommended Fix which provides solution to the issues faced in the webpage
Figure 4 Recommended Fix
When the developer or the Website Manager clicks the link, it will display the code that must be
changed in the webpage to overcome the accessibility issue.

As per the above Figure 4 if the attribute 'alt' was added to the code it could solve the accessibility
issue and by this way, this tool is very helpful to the website managers and developers who are
creating or working on a webpage.

Health Information Technology From The Length Of Time That...
Many health information technology (health IT) products are not designed for their intended users
and are inefficient and even dangerous. Federal agencies are responding to this challenge by
developing regulations and reports to guide improved usability. Therefore, clinicians and informatics
nurse specialists (INS) require a suite of skills to understand concepts about the user experience and
to conduct usability tests. Reducing medication errors have been a major focus of computerized
physician order entry (CPOE) implementation. Thus, systems that support clinical decision making
and provide early warnings of changes in patient status can be used to avert medical errors. Rojas
and Seckman (2014) suggested that the INS can apply ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transcription errors such as a misplaced decimal point and illegible handwriting were major causes
of error. Incomplete orders were a problem that caused additional steps in the nursing workflow. The
implementation of software systems, like CPOE, helps to eradicate these problems. According to
Yui et al., (2012), CPOE is a component of the larger electronic health record (EHR) system which
enables practitioners to enter orders directly into a computer then transmits orders to the order
management system for processing. CPOE is designed to allow clinicians to enter a variety of
orders, such as medications, dietary services, consults, admission and discharge orders, nursing
orders, lab requisitions, and other diagnostic tests, via computer. The idea behind CPOE was for
prescribers, such as physicians, dentists, osteopathic doctors, anesthesiologists, nurse practitioners,
and physician assistants, to enter orders directly into the computer. During the ordering process,
alerts, such as drug allergy warnings, and other decision support rules should be available to assist
health care providers. Once an order is entered, the CPOE system interfaces or integrated with other
EHR components, such as a laboratory or pharmacy system, to process the order. In fact, the term
"order entry" can be misleading, as CPOE is truly an order management system that allows orders to

Root Cause Analysis
Determining the potential issues that cause poor usability require a systematic and comprehensive
approach. The key to identifying the root cause of a usability problem is to combine multiple testing
methods. By running separate studies to measure the information architecture and the user interface,
the likelihood of correctly identifying the cause of usability issues is increased. There are several
root cause analysis (RCA) tools used for data collection, data display and analysis, idea generation,
problem solving, and risk assessment (Amatayakul, 2017). A good place to start is with workflow
and process mapping. Comparing what the intended process flow was versus what actually
happened may lend itself to some valuable insight. Revelations ... Show more content on

Naturalness – Naturalness also refers to how familiar and easy an application is to use and to what
extent it follows the "natural" workflow of the system (Hollin, Griffin, & Kachnowski, 2012).
Logically structuring interface content based on work flow and highlighting task–critical
information mirrors user work flow in real health care operations. EMR interface design should
make entry processes as natural as possible for users and avoid mismatches between EHR work
flow and actual clinical processes.
2. Consistency – Consistency is an important usability principle that should be considered in
interactive system interface design in order to reduce learnability and increase task efficiency. Basic
colors and unified form layouts allow users to predict experiences once they learn the patterns of the
system. Standards and conventions in product design should be followed.
3. Minimizing cognitive load – By facilitating efficient information navigation, EHR designers can
reduce a user's mental workload and cognitive processing. This can be accomplished in a variety of
ways. Use a design structure matrix that minimizes or eliminates the number of steps to complete a
task. Rank data in terms of importance and presented only highly ranked items on the screen for
clinicians. Delete objects on screen and that may not be relevant to a user's work domain and
increase relevant domain–related content. Combine related information and use fewer screens to
reduce errors and task completion time.

Google Glass: A Poorly Designed and Distracting Augmented Reality Device
According to the New York Times, from the time of it's release in 2012, Google Glass went from
being the hottest new wearable technology item, to one that users complained about and didn't really
see a use for (Bilton, 2015). Google Glass is an augmented reality device, which refers to virtual
representations super imposed on physical objects or locations, that is primarily used by early
adopters, deemed by Google as "Glass Explorers", which allows for access of text messages,
directions, and even the use of a camera (Fox, 2016; Glass Explorers, 2015). According to the
Technology Acceptance Model, adoption of a product can be predicted by two factors. The first
factor is the perceived usefulness of the product, which depends on the person, and the second factor
is the perceived ease of use of the product (Fox, 2016). Google Glass was removed from shelves in
2015, indicating that it was not necessarily perceived as useful or easy to use. Because of it's
complicated, confusing and unattractive design with unnatural mapping, as well as its risk as a
distraction, Google Glass is not a well–designed product.
The first thing we noticed after opening the Google Glass box was the lack of directions that came
along with the product. We were surprised to find just a small piece of cardboard with a few
"simple" steps. When we removed the glasses frame from the box, we

Evaluation Methods For Best Electronics
After evaluating Best Electronics ' website using three different usability evaluation methods which
are observations, questionnaires and heuristics evaluation.
These usability evaluation methods allowed us to recognize the major flaws of the website, also
assisted to identify the key features and aspects of the website which have to be improved.
The first aspect needs to be changed within the website is the colors and the font size used
throughout the entire website. Based on the heuristics evaluation we performed, the font size used in
the website is big, which makes reading the content uncomfortable, also there are many colors used
in the website without any professionalism , which led to make the website unattractive, also the
color ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is one of the biggest flaws of the website, for this reason it is essential to create enough space
between the paragraphs and images so the viewer has space to breathe, minimize the paragraphs size
of the content, divide large blocks of information into more manageable groups where natural and
appropriate, avoid content clutter especially on the homepage, present information in more precise
and ordered way to minimize the scrolling required, and finally, organize the content with respect to
the principles of contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity. All these steps must be taken to
accomplish three of our usability goals (effective home page, Clarity of the interface, Motivating
website), as well as to meet two of the Windows Interface Guidelines, "aesthetics" and "simplicity".
Another aspect is the lack of menu, quick links and search engine, based on our observations, users
were not able to find different kinds of information they were looking for, and the reason for that is
because the website does not offer any menu or quick links to allow users to navigate quickly,
additionally, the website does not have a search engine which allows users to find products quickly,
so one goal when redesigning the website is to build a main menu, and

The Middle Of Moore 's Law
According to Kuniavsky (2010), the "middle of Moore's" law has allowed for new technology to
become much more powerful, while older technology gets cheaper without losing any power.
Gordon Moore, founder of Intel Corporation, developed Moore's Law which states that every two
years processors transistor densities will double. Moore stated in this in his 1965 analysis, that the
pragmatic model of factors affecting profitability in semiconductor manufacturing. He concluded
that by "1975 economics may dictate squeezing as many as 65,000 components on a single silicon
chip" which provided the knowledge and ability to become a contender in the semiconductor
market. His model was accepted by other companies in the industry. This law as soon put into use
by his own co–founded company, Intel, which has continued to prosper based on his law of nature.
This new strategic decision led the way for the beginning of ubiquitous computing. As the power of
processors increased, the price of older technology decreased. As new CPs were developed, their
market value would remain at an unchanging price while the processing power augmented. New
systems are released with much more power at a faster rate as old systems are replaced. Older
technologies become cheaper without losing any of its ability to process information. For example,
in 1989, the Intel i486 averaged a cost of $1500 and was able to process 16 million instructions per
seconds. In comparison, in 2010, the Atmel's ATTiny could do

Top 10 Ways Of Increase Usability On Your Website
Top 10 ways to increase usability on your website
In Usability of a website from enhanced content to page layout and designing, user interface to
navigation, downloading speed to ease of use everything matter at its most.
When your user coming to your site can find what they need and accomplish their goals you seem to
achieve usability goal and now you're stepping ahead to turn them into potential customers.
1. Easy to use and compulsive
Accomplishing users' tasks should be just a few clicks away. Users should feel a great ease in
locating call–to–action with least clicks possible. There's simply no need to ask users to fill in
unwanted, unnecessary and long forms. Important messages may be about new arrivals,
product/services should be eye catching.
If uses face readability issues, it generates high chances to create usability problems, here users are
for sure getting antagonize and will rub it up the wrong way and quit, resulting a great loss of
potential customers. Use typography usability guidelines and such design elements decreasing this
issue.
2. Content
Do you see 80–90% of the content that your users might be looking for when see your web page
with a free mind at first glance? If it's so, then it's a quality useable page. No usability expert would
disagree that when considering usability content becomes the priority and the key for its
effectiveness and usability. It's a foremost requirement.
Same goes for how the content is displayed in your "page layout"

Observation and Requirements Gathering
Introduction
The purpose of the report is to gather beneficial information that is important to the user of a
workout app, such as features, usability, and functionalities.
Method
Five people provided interviews to gather the user observations. All five of these people enjoy
exercising on a daily basis. The group is comprised of three men and two women. All were
interviewed in person with pen and paper for data gathering. The data that was gathered was then
interpreted into needs and from that a survey was developed.
Results
The questions in Appendix A could get the most out of users because they cover all aspects of design
and they are simple. The most common feature in the app was music control. It would be more
convenient for the users to access and control their music directly in the app without having to
access their devices native music app. One particular item of interest is the fact that no one
mentioned anything about social media connectivity. Some of the features discussed were GPS

Personal Health Personal Statement
In November 2015, my world was changed because my daughter was born. As a new mom, I had a
hard time getting through baby blues due to sleep deprivation, breast engorgement, worrying about
insufficient breastmilk and being a good mom. I felt isolated and lack of social support since I was
the first one being a mom among my friends, as a racial minority in the U.S. and an international
student. At the one–month checkup, I did a survey from the pediatrician about postpartum
depression, and I got 7 points out of 10. I decided to go out and looked for new mom groups and
talked to them; I realized that I was not alone. The experience inspired me to find solutions to

I worked as a user experience/ web designer intern for Illumina, a biotech company based in San
Francisco Bay area. My daily work included user interview, finding the right problems, created a
scenario, designed wireframes and flow, and developed prototypes rapidly. As a designer, I have to
make decisions every day, with a reason. The rationale behind each design decision either comes
from the interview data/ field notes while observing or from the design and behavior theories. I also
did usability testing with users and based on the result; I modified the design, and finally, I
developed a new intranet system in 3 months. Last month, I received an email from my supervisor at
Illumina and was glad to know they are still using the website that I designed.
Alongside the growing interest in HCI, I am more concerned about the wellness of people,
particularly after becoming a mother. I care about the health of my family and other families like us,
and the community. I was particularly interested in human/ computer interaction in the context of
personal health, exploring how technology can support the upper–stream of health behaviors,
including self–reflective methods. Also, I was keen on understanding user behavior, and learning

Progress Report on Android Privacy Tools
Introduction
With respect to security and usability, the report included criteria that can be considered relevant
from the perspective of software engineering methodologies and project management side. Some of
them were selected based on their importance held as non–functional requirements. One of the
actual methods of measuring the usability degree of the analyzed tools involves the HCI factor
(Human–Computer Interaction). The deployability refers to how reliable and easy to be designed is
the software from development phase until it arrives into actual production.

Usability – regarded as a measure of easiness in use of the tool from different perspectives. At the
same time, it measures how suitable is the privacy tool for its end users.
How easy is to manipulate the restrictions? In order to apply the restrictions it is needed applications
to be restarted. The entire process is easy and doesn't require advanced using skills from users' end.
Thus from this point of view it can be stated the usability is high. The process can be summarized as
below: at first find the application to restrict in the main application list; then tap on the application
icon; in the end the user must tap the first check box of any category you want to restrict.
Accessibility – it has a high degree as an overall; for instance, the global settings and application
specific settings can be accessed both from the application list 's menu and from the menu of the
application 's
Readability – the detailed view – therefore XPrivacy provides users with possibility of ease in read.
Users' intervention is decreased to minimum – the application of restriction is done in automated
manner.
Compatibility & incompatibility – on one hand, it works with Android

Web Usablity Analysis Essay
Introduction
I have chosen Kiplinger's business website to conduct a web usability analysis. Interactive design is
an evolutionary process, when you take identified problems, visions, needs, and wants reported by
user feedback, then incorporate or fix, and further evaluate to refine and increase the success of a
given product. In this case the product is a website. Sharp, Rogers & Preece, (2007) said this about
iterative design, "When problems are found in user testing, they are fixed and then more test and
observations are carried out to see the effects of the fixes" (P. 425). The company website I have
chosen will be analyzed using a critical eye that delves further into examples of specific factors that

Analysis of Task: Finding tips for teaching kids how to save
From Kiplinger's home page, a user should search for this type of information in the Starting Out
link located at the top to find the Raising Money Smart Kids link. Users will also find success in
using the search option located at the top right and the site map located on the left side of Kiplinger's
website. Kiplinger logically displays information in the middle of the page under past columns,
book excerpt, allowances & rewards, savings tips, kids & credit, jobs & tax matters, Roth IRAs &
investing, and college prep. For this scenario, the savings tips area has information about "how to
teach young kids to save", this is just what a user would be looking for and the information covers
various age levels.
Examples of Navigational Theories
Navigating a website is similar to driving in a busy city for the first time and as we all know this can
be time consuming and you can get lost very easy if you do not have a road map. Like a driver, users
are concerned with knowing how to get from point A to Z and how to get back to where they were
previously. Website designers can prevent this problem by applying design guidelines and arranging
web content information carefully to help users find their way. Shubin, & Meehan (1997), provided
these tips, "Use of clear and consistent navigational aids (page

An Computerised Test Assessed Social Intelligence Using...
ask Analysis
The first computerised test assessed social intelligence using the Social/Emotional cognition task
(SECT). The main purpose of this test is to measure the cognitive domain of social cognition. Social
cognition examines how humans process, store and apply information about social situations. It
focuses on the role that cognitive processes play in social interactions. Social cognition focuses on
the way we think about others and how it plays a major role in how we think feel and act with the
world.
In the computerised test, the pre–test instructions ask you to "tap the odd one out". The test presents
4 pictures on the screen at once where one of them is different in a way and the odd one out, the
subject must pick the odd one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The test's pre–test instructions ask participants "in what location did these pictures belong?"
Visual learning helps people retrieve and remember information more efficiently.
The first task is an immediate recall task, where there are different shapes on the screen and a box in
the middle. One at a time, one of those shapes will appear in the middle of the screen, and
participants have to select the matching shape from the screen. The second task, the shapes around
the screen are hidden in the same spots, and when a shape appears in the middle of the screen
participants have to select the spot where the matching shape is hidden.
The unit of measurement used for this test is total errors. Where the lower the participants' score of
errors, the better their performance is considered. The average time to complete it for "healthy"
participants is five minutes. (Cogstate, 2016).

Bioinformatics involves complex data visualization techniques that are technologically advanced
and therefore prone to cognitive overload. The study conducted to review current human factors
research in interaction, usability and visualization within bioinformatics, concluded that human
factors play a significant role in designing and evaluating information visualization tools. Perception
of bioinformatics tools by users goes a long way in influencing their understanding of the complex
data as well as the perceived usability and accessibility of these systems [3 cite the reference not
number].
According to [10 cite the reference not number] cognitive overload has also been identified as an
EMR usability problem in evaluations conducted as part of some other studies. For example, Rose et
al. (2005) suggested that when the amount of information presented in an interface increases, user
attention is divided, as in multiple–task performances, the probability of errors increases.
Minimization of cognitive load has been highlighted in a literature review of usability and safety in
the electronic medical records interface design. As per [1 cite the reference not number] cognitive
overload was often associated with responses of confusion and uncertainty, especially when
participants had multiple visual cues to focus on in the visual displays.
Additionally [2 cite the reference not number] research has shown that poorly designed technologies

Technology And The Human Computer Interface
There are certain technology programs that are emerging in the software industry that have key uses.
These current technologies are those that surround the human–computer interface. As a software
engineer, I will use this paper to describe the term "Haptic Feedback," its key uses and why it is
needed. In addition, I will compare the various types of human memory mentioning their impact on
the human–computer interface. I will also give a detailed description of the potential outcomes of
not making use of consistency in the human computer interface, summarize and explain the steps of
user–centric design process and the role of human motion in the human computer interface.
Haptic Feedback Haptic can be defined as the science of applying the touch sensation as well as
control to guide human interactions with the computer applications. This is done using the special
devices such as data gloves and joysticks to enable users to receive computer application feedback
in form of a felt body part sensation, especially the hand. In that regard, it can be deemed that Haptic
Feedback is the feedback that users derive from the interaction with computer applications that is
only felt, not heard or seen. The key uses of Haptic Feedback are in the image outlines delineated by
the feel sensation in a way like object simulation in a location near the user. In this way, it can be
used in the training of individuals to perform tasks that require hand and eye coordination, including

The Tranformation of the Smartphone
1. INTRODUCTION
In the history of smartphones, the revolutionary technologies have made a agreat transformation
from the giant brick–structure smartphones in 1995 to slim and stylish form factor nowadays. Over
the past few decades ago, smartphones become more abundant, for instance, 300 million units were
sold world–wide in 2010 [] while one out of two Americans started using smartphones mobile
phones in the year 2011 []. This has caused Smart mobile operating system (OS) to become a
blazing hot issue, after Apple reintroduced the term "Smart" in a phone in the year 2007. An
Android phone manufacturer, Samsung, sold 319.8 million units 32.2 percent, a 15% increase from
2012 whereas Apple sold 153.5 million iPhones worldwide with a 15.5 % market share. In the year
2013 alone, global smart phones shipments boost up 41 percent to reach a record–high 990 million
units according to the Thomson Reuters, the world's largest international multimedia news.
However, under the hood of market statistics, an enormous technical progress has been made since
the inception of mobile devices. As the performance of the mobile device becomes significantly
increased, the potential use of such devices is also tremendous. As a result, the developers are now
facing the challenge of designing not only hardware architectures but also complex software. One of
the most challenging problems is to design a well usable smartphone. For instance, the process of

Study Of The Navy Leaders Guide Mobile Application
Summary
The Benchmarking Quarterly Report provides the results of the Technology Enhancement Center's
(TEC) most recent benchmark study that evaluates the user experience and usability of T2 products.
This report reviews the benchmark study of the Navy Leaders Guide mobile application.
During the 3rd quarter of 2015, TEC conducted a pilot benchmark study comprised of attitudinal
and behavioral methods used to evaluate user satisfaction and performance of the Navy Leaders
Guide mobile application. Although 15 elected to participate in the study, only 10 participants
completed the full evaluation consisting of the Questionnaire for User Interaction Satisfaction
(QUIS) (Chin, et al 1988) and a think aloud task analysis (Ericsson, et al 1980).
Based on data provided solely by the QUIS, the overall mean is 7.75 (Very Good).
Introduction
TEC benchmark studies measure the current user experience and usability of T2 and T2/VA co–
branded products such as Navy Leaders Guide and AfterDeployment.org to provide a baseline
against similar products and/or future T2 product versions. Benchmarking against similar products
is useful for identifying the strengths and weakness in user experience and usability for future
growth, and benchmarking earlier versions against newer versions of a product shows user
experience and usability improvement over time.

Usability Testing and Implementation
Introduction
Defining a series of recommendations on how TUI staff can better manage usability training for TUI
course developers and usability testing of their courses is the goal of this analysis. The usability of
any application needs to take into account as many varied platforms as possible during planning,
development and eventual launch and use (Hertzum, 2010). This is a multidimensional problem that
needs to be dealt with at the initial phases of any course development project. The recommendations
in this analysis pertain to getting TUI faculty more aligned with the pain points, needs and potential
to increase long–term learning by relying on usability as a catalyst of great learning effectiveness.
Recommendations and Analysis
The following recommendations follow the frameworks of aligning usability to the needs of
students, ensuring their learning goals are met by using course design to as a scaffold–based
learning strategy, tailoring course content to their specific needs (Najjar, 2008). The greater the
usability fo course materials, the more effectively instructors will be able to create tailored learning
programs that are aligned to the unique strengths and weaknesses of the student (Najjar, 2008). The
first recommendation is to concentrate on creating a usability framework and methodology that
promotes and encourages the creation of scaffolding strategies across the wide spectrum of students.

following necessary steps have been described to successfully implement preemptive
Pharmacogenomics testing.2 First, there must be a systematic process for genotyping and for
migrating test results into the EHR. There must be a permissive institutional infrastructure that will

The process of developing the EHR interface and CDS content will need to involve users, decision
makers, and evaluators. The users will need to be asked about the tasks they do on a daily basis to
provide patient care, and about the clinical decisions that would benefit from computer decision
support.
Stakeholder/users should be surveyed to find out their needs, by asking questions in the following
areas: What information do you need that you don't have? Where in the EHR would
pharmacogenomic information be located? Would a link–out to a curated definitive information
source help? Or would you prefer a more concise summary linked to the moment of prescribing? Or
both? How will you decide which drugs–gene pairs to implement alerts for in the EHR? What
process will be used to update the system? Who will be responsible? How will new genomic results

Along with the advantages, there are many drawbacks related to usability while using such features
and functionalities on a mobile device.
Below are some general usability issues observed in mobile phones.4
Small screen sizes – On mobile devices font sizes makes a major concern in usability as mobile has
a small screen size which effects the whole rendering of system fonts and thus making an adverse
effect in the usability.
Less distance between elements – Due to compactness of mobiles it needs to allocate a lot of
elements on the screen which makes people confuse about the next step to be taken in order to
complete the action, also it is seen that the element on screen are very close, which makes the screen
look overcrowded and results in accident of clicking unwanted buttons.
Advertisements usage – Worldwide use of mobile has been greatly increased in the 21st century and
it has given a rise in advertisements on mobile devices, the unwanted pop–ups generated while
browsing the web and constant banner advertisement in apps creates an overall bad user experience.
Furthermore, usability issues like cluttering in contents, the inefficiency of the cascading menu,
speech–recognition resulting in incorrect device output.

Balanced Evaluation Paper

  • 1. Balanced Evaluation Paper It is important for program managers and decision makers to know if their program is accomplishing its founding purpose. To provide that insight and aid in decisions about a current or proposed course of action, a program evaluation can be a very critical tool to determine how well a program is working and what impact it is having on the problem it is attempting to address. With that said, how are intended users and beneficiaries of an evaluation supposed to know if the evaluation they have been given is a good product, with enough substance to guide them in making critical decisions that will affect the livelihood of program workers, the wellbeing of program participants, and influence the use of the limited resources available to address ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The effectiveness of the program and the usefulness of the evaluation can only be realized if the potential users are shown that the costs and benefits of changing a lifestyle or other practices are preferable to the way things were before the program was offered or new knowledge provided by the evaluation made available (Saunders, 2012). Evaluators must provide answers to those who commissioned their study to show the value and impact the program is having or what need remains. It is important to acknowledge that good programs can fail if program participants or the community as a whole fail to see the value in services that are provided and reject the operation. Evaluators have an opportunity to provide information about why the program is important to the wellbeing of a segment of the population and how that will in turn effect society in ... • 3. Technical Writing Vs Technical Communication In today's highly technologically oriented world, people have begun to communicate in innovative ways, which include, inter alia, telephones, cell–telephones, smartphones, handheld electronic devices, tablets, email, video conferencing, instant messaging or text messaging. With the advent of the information revolution at the turn of the century, the concept of professional communication has been repeatedly redefined to accommodate the contemporary trends, methods and changes that communication in the corporate world has witnessed. Many of the theories in professional communication are derived from traditional communication, technical writing, rhetorical theory and ethics. According to Julia Wood (2004), communication is "a systemic process in which individuals interact with and through symbols to create and interpret meanings." A technical communicator is responsible for writing documents, designing and creating graphics, designing and creating websites, copyediting other documents, examining documents for usability, illustrations, and much more. Technical writing is now known as technical communications because a technical writer does so much more than just write. Technical writing is a specialized form of exposition: that is, written communication done on the job, especially in fields with specialized vocabularies, such as science, engineering, technology, and the health sciences. The biggest difference between technical communication and the other kinds of writing you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Jean Bowman Ehr First off, it was really amazing to see all the different types of errors that can occur while using an EHR. Quite frankly, I found both articles extremely interesting and educational. In the first article, Bowman states that one problem that can occur while using an EHR has to do with the software system itself. She explains how software systems can have flaws that put the patient's information in jeopardy because these systems can be acquire bugs and viruses which causes the patient's information to be lost and/or deleted (Bowman, 2013). Other problems derived from EHR's are due to the lack of user friendly features which make interfaces difficult to use. These type of issues can mislead the user to enter wrong patient data into the system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Human factors engineers focus their attention on studying how well and efficiently interactive systems perform in actual practice and develop new and innovative tools and formats which can reduce medical errors. • 7. Usability And Technical Communication And Usability In today's world, designing a website has become a piece of cake. With powerful designing tools that are available online, anyone can design quality websites in a much shorter amount of time. But the question to be asked is, "How would a website designer know that his/her website would be user friendly?" Usability testing is the answer. By definition, usability testing is the evaluation of a product or service by testing it on the user. Since the product is for the user, it is necessary that users are involved during the process of creating a product or service. Today, usability testing is not only limited to the field of information technology, but plays a major role in technical communication. In this report, I will talk about usability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The central principle of technical communication has always been user focus. Technical communicators are usually comfortable dealing with users from both technical and non–technical backgrounds, since they gather information from the technical to communicate with the non– technical. Technical communicators possess good analytical skills and tend to be familiar with certain standards that involve interface design principles and style guides (Gaffney 2004). Therefore, they possess skills that are required by usability professionals. Today, technical communicators are not only writers of user assistance and related documents, but they also work as website designers, information architects, content specialists and marketing communication specialists, to name a few of the sub fields within the field of technical communication. USABILITY TECHNIQUES IN TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION Technical communicators can incorporate certain usability techniques that help them to ensure a great user experience. These basic usability techniques are as follows:  Perform usability test on the user documents: Technical communicators mostly work offshore, and due to the lengthiness of the user guide, testing the entire document is not feasible most of the time. Therefore, technical communicators can choose some complicated procedures that are important from a user's perspective, and perform usability test on these procedures either remotely or one–on–one with the actual users.  ... • 9. Usability Testing Usability testing is a technique used in user–centered interaction design to evaluate a product by testing it on users. This can be seen as an irreplaceable usability practice, since it gives direct input on how real users use the system.[1] This is in contrast with usability inspection methods where experts use different methods to evaluate a user interface without involving users. Usability testing focuses on measuring a human–made product's capacity to meet its intended purpose. Examples of products that commonly benefit from usability testing are foods, consumer products, web sites or web applications, computer interfaces, documents, and devices. Usability testing measures the usability, or ease of use, of a specific object or set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [edit] What usability testing is not Simply gathering opinions on an object or document is market research or qualitative research rather than usability testing. Usability testing usually involves systematic observation under controlled conditions to determine how well people can use the product.[8] However, often both qualitative and usability testing are used in combination, to better understand users' motivations/perceptions, in addition to their actions. Rather than showing users a rough draft and asking, "Do you understand this?", usability testing involves watching people trying to use something for its intended purpose. For example, when testing instructions for assembling a toy, the test subjects should be given the instructions and a box of parts and, rather than being asked to comment on the parts and materials, they are asked to put the toy together. Instruction phrasing, illustration quality, and the toy's design all affect the assembly process. [edit] Methods Setting up a usability test involves carefully creating a scenario, or realistic situation, wherein the person performs a list of tasks using the product being tested while observers watch and take notes. Several other test instruments such as scripted instructions, paper prototypes, and pre– and post–test questionnaires are also used to gather feedback on the product ... Liability In The Workplace: Hands-Work Usability Testing Hands– Work Usability Testing Hands– Work Usability Testing Introduction Technology today plays a key role in enhancing economic and social development. The rise of internet services across different set ups has established a distinct and strong communication network, which is fundamental is all spheres of life. A website is one of the key aspects that enhance business connections between consumers and product sellers. The aspect of communication forms the basis of establishing and, coming up with a user–friendly website (Neilsen, 1999). Such is a key to passing crucial messages from one person to another. Consequently, applying user–testing techniques, and using checklists is a way of counter checking the usability and effectively of a website in terms of communicating to consumers and target audience from various places across the globe (Sullivan, 1996). This paper presents an analysis of website and the effectively of its usability standard using an average checklist. Digital Technology And Its Impact On The Future Of A... 1.0 INTRODUCTION As digital technology becomes more prominent in every facet of life, one is required to own more devices to enjoy all of the different aspects of it. A task analysis of a device that could combine all of these different devices into one (the home media multitasking interface or HMMI) has been accepted, and is attached in Appendix A for reference. The report that follows is about prototyping, the next step in bringing the HMMI into existence. This will include two design proposals based on the previous research attached in Appendix A. After describing the proposals, one of them will be deemed viable and be chosen to move ahead to the prototyping stage. Sketches of the chosen prototype will be attached in Appendix B. Along ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After finding the optimal persona, the constraints of the project were discussed. These constraints were be framed as Design for X (DfX), in which "X" represented goals for the design. Constraints are very important to consider while designing because it gives the design team a clear framework to work under, which will save time and money in the long run. The constraints considered were cost, manufacturability and quality. After deciding the persona and considering the constraints, potential users of the HMMI were surveyed about what features they would expect/like it to have in a user analysis. The user analysis concentrated on human factors that relate to the potential users of the HMMI, and from the participants of the questionnaire sent out, an idea of what students are be looking for in this device was gathered. Some of the answers were expected and already accounted for, yet some of the feedback was enlightening, and the ideas that were viable were added to the design ideas. Knowing what features to include, the team then did a task analysis on some of the high–level tasks that will be included in the HMMI. The team used a hierarchical task analysis (HTA) software called Task Architect to produce the task analysis. The HTA's were completed to understand what types of subtasks are necessary for each of the required tasks. • 17. AIALS Case Study Designing for Success As early as the 1980s, AIALS were used as tools in the classroom, albeit on a much smaller scale. An artificially intelligent assessment learning systems that is designed for success, is "user–centered and addresses user–relevant issues at all stages in whatever form is appropriate" (Dillon, 1994, p. 19). This phenomena was supported by Hung et al. (2015) who indicated that a system that is well–designed should allow its users to navigate it easily, use its features and tools and respond appropriately to features of the systems. Hence, a well–designed AIALS is intentionally designed according to usability principles and with features and tools to yield learning gains for users. Generally, AIALS consists of four ... These dimensions are viewed as the fundamental user requirements for defining the functionalities of a good user interface, hence according to the ISO 9241–210 standard, usability is the measurement of how a product is used to accomplish specific tasks with effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction within a prescribed setting (Kaasinen et al., 2015). According to Chughtai, Zhang, and Craig (2015) usability takes into account how easy it is to learn and use a system, including easy navigation for average users. Nielsen (1994) posited that usability is a significant factor of interface design in order to ensure a user–friendly system that is easy to use. Kodavali and Blessing (2011) suggested that usability is an important factor when designing intelligent learning systems, otherwise, the goal/s of the system may be defeated. Additionally, Lin, Wu, and Hsueh (2014) indicated that recent studies on usability testing of an AIALS revealed that there is a direct positive relationship between usability and learning effectiveness. The integration of usability principles in the design and development of AIALS is important. It involves a user–centered focus approach that is used to increase the overall effectiveness of learning systems (Hung et al., 2015); Sharp & Preece, 2011). For this report, 3 of the 10 Heuristic principles proposed by Jakob Nielsen were used to briefly evaluate the website aiming to identify major usability issues with the site. The "Gallery" link shows abstract pictures not related to the site (see Fig .3) and the "Photos" link shows video clips of the restaurants rather than pictures. These shows lack of consistency. Figure 3. Pictures shown in the Gallery menu 2.2 Visibility of System Status It is assumed the first page that comes up on a website is its "home page" with some design features to gives potential customers some insight on what the site is all about. The visual design of the site's "home page" has failed to convey any substantial information that it is indeed a restaurant. Basta pasta written on the home page meaning "Just Pasta" according to google is not just sufficient enough to indicate it is a restaurant (see Fig. 4). According to Nielsen (1995), users should always be informed about what is happening at all time on a system through the right feedbacks. A good visual design of meals being served should be included at the background of the "home page". 3 Figure 4. • 27. Health Information Technology From The Length Of Time That... Many health information technology (health IT) products are not designed for their intended users and are inefficient and even dangerous. Federal agencies are responding to this challenge by developing regulations and reports to guide improved usability. Therefore, clinicians and informatics nurse specialists (INS) require a suite of skills to understand concepts about the user experience and to conduct usability tests. Reducing medication errors have been a major focus of computerized physician order entry (CPOE) implementation. Thus, systems that support clinical decision making and provide early warnings of changes in patient status can be used to avert medical errors. Transcription errors such as a misplaced decimal point and illegible handwriting were major causes of error. Incomplete orders were a problem that caused additional steps in the nursing workflow. The implementation of software systems, like CPOE, helps to eradicate these problems. According to Yui et al., (2012), CPOE is a component of the larger electronic health record (EHR) system which enables practitioners to enter orders directly into a computer then transmits orders to the order management system for processing. CPOE is designed to allow clinicians to enter a variety of orders, such as medications, dietary services, consults, admission and discharge orders, nursing orders, lab requisitions, and other diagnostic tests, via computer. The idea behind CPOE was for prescribers, such as physicians, dentists, osteopathic doctors, anesthesiologists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, to enter orders directly into the computer. During the ordering process, alerts, such as drug allergy warnings, and other decision support rules should be available to assist health care providers. Once an order is entered, the CPOE system interfaces or integrated with other EHR components, such as a laboratory or pharmacy system, to process the order. • 29. Root Cause Analysis Determining the potential issues that cause poor usability require a systematic and comprehensive approach. The key to identifying the root cause of a usability problem is to combine multiple testing methods. By running separate studies to measure the information architecture and the user interface, the likelihood of correctly identifying the cause of usability issues is increased. There are several root cause analysis (RCA) tools used for data collection, data display and analysis, idea generation, problem solving, and risk assessment (Amatayakul, 2017). A good place to start is with workflow and process mapping. Comparing what the intended process flow was versus what actually happened may lend itself to some valuable insight. Revelations ... Naturalness – Naturalness also refers to how familiar and easy an application is to use and to what extent it follows the "natural" workflow of the system (Hollin, Griffin, & Kachnowski, 2012). Logically structuring interface content based on work flow and highlighting task–critical information mirrors user work flow in real health care operations. EMR interface design should make entry processes as natural as possible for users and avoid mismatches between EHR work flow and actual clinical processes. 2. Consistency – Consistency is an important usability principle that should be considered in interactive system interface design in order to reduce learnability and increase task efficiency. Basic colors and unified form layouts allow users to predict experiences once they learn the patterns of the system. Standards and conventions in product design should be followed. 3. Minimizing cognitive load – By facilitating efficient information navigation, EHR designers can reduce a user's mental workload and cognitive processing. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways. Use a design structure matrix that minimizes or eliminates the number of steps to complete a task. Emma Duncliffe COMM 3545 November 3, 2016 Google Glass: A Poorly Designed and Distracting Augmented Reality Device According to the New York Times, from the time of it's release in 2012, Google Glass went from being the hottest new wearable technology item, to one that users complained about and didn't really see a use for (Bilton, 2015). Google Glass is an augmented reality device, which refers to virtual representations super imposed on physical objects or locations, that is primarily used by early adopters, deemed by Google as "Glass Explorers", which allows for access of text messages, directions, and even the use of a camera (Fox, 2016; Glass Explorers, 2015). According to the Technology Acceptance Model, adoption of a product can be predicted by two factors. The first factor is the perceived usefulness of the product, which depends on the person, and the second factor is the perceived ease of use of the product (Fox, 2016). Google Glass was removed from shelves in 2015, indicating that it was not necessarily perceived as useful or easy to use. Because of it's complicated, confusing and unattractive design with unnatural mapping, as well as its risk as a distraction, Google Glass is not a well–designed product. The first thing we noticed after opening the Google Glass box was the lack of directions that came along with the product. • 35. The Middle Of Moore 's Law According to Kuniavsky (2010), the "middle of Moore's" law has allowed for new technology to become much more powerful, while older technology gets cheaper without losing any power. Gordon Moore, founder of Intel Corporation, developed Moore's Law which states that every two years processors transistor densities will double. Moore stated in this in his 1965 analysis, that the pragmatic model of factors affecting profitability in semiconductor manufacturing. He concluded that by "1975 economics may dictate squeezing as many as 65,000 components on a single silicon chip" which provided the knowledge and ability to become a contender in the semiconductor market. His model was accepted by other companies in the industry. This law as soon put into use by his own co–founded company, Intel, which has continued to prosper based on his law of nature. This new strategic decision led the way for the beginning of ubiquitous computing. As the power of processors increased, the price of older technology decreased. As new CPs were developed, their market value would remain at an unchanging price while the processing power augmented. New systems are released with much more power at a faster rate as old systems are replaced. Older technologies become cheaper without losing any of its ability to process information. For example, in 1989, the Intel i486 averaged a cost of $1500 and was able to process 16 million instructions per seconds. In comparison, in 2010, the Atmel's ATTiny could do ... Essay On Reliability Of Visualization Tools 4.2 Reliability of visualization tools Human factors study to evaluate a new interactive data integration platform for pediatric intensive care called T3 that was conducted to identify interface usability issues, to measure ease of use, and to describe interface features that may enable or hinder clinical tasks [2 cite the reference not number]. The key finding highlighted the low level of reliability placed by clinicians on data representations since they did not know how they were established or derived. The study concluded that usability issues, observed through contextual use, could lead to improvements in design of data integration software. 4.3 Cognitive overload An area where there is a lack of understanding on patient safety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bioinformatics involves complex data visualization techniques that are technologically advanced and therefore prone to cognitive overload. The study conducted to review current human factors research in interaction, usability and visualization within bioinformatics, concluded that human factors play a significant role in designing and evaluating information visualization tools. Perception of bioinformatics tools by users goes a long way in influencing their understanding of the complex data as well as the perceived usability and accessibility of these systems [3 cite the reference not number]. According to [10 cite the reference not number] cognitive overload has also been identified as an EMR usability problem in evaluations conducted as part of some other studies. For example, Rose et al. (2005) suggested that when the amount of information presented in an interface increases, user attention is divided, as in multiple–task performances, the probability of errors increases. Minimization of cognitive load has been highlighted in a literature review of usability and safety in the electronic medical records interface design. As per [1 cite the reference not number] cognitive overload was often associated with responses of confusion and uncertainty, especially when participants had multiple visual cues to focus on in the visual displays. Additionally [2 cite the reference not number] research has shown that poorly designed technologies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 62. Technology And The Human Computer Interface There are certain technology programs that are emerging in the software industry that have key uses. These current technologies are those that surround the human–computer interface. As a software engineer, I will use this paper to describe the term "Haptic Feedback," its key uses and why it is needed. In addition, I will compare the various types of human memory mentioning their impact on the human–computer interface. I will also give a detailed description of the potential outcomes of not making use of consistency in the human computer interface, summarize and explain the steps of user–centric design process and the role of human motion in the human computer interface. Haptic Feedback Haptic can be defined as the science of applying the touch sensation as well as control to guide human interactions with the computer applications. This is done using the special devices such as data gloves and joysticks to enable users to receive computer application feedback in form of a felt body part sensation, especially the hand. In that regard, it can be deemed that Haptic Feedback is the feedback that users derive from the interaction with computer applications that is only felt, not heard or seen. The key uses of Haptic Feedback are in the image outlines delineated by the feel sensation in a way like object simulation in a location near the user. In this way, it can be used in the training of individuals to perform tasks that require hand and eye coordination, including space ship ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

INTRODUCTION In the history of smartphones, the revolutionary technologies have made a agreat transformation from the giant brick–structure smartphones in 1995 to slim and stylish form factor nowadays. Over the past few decades ago, smartphones become more abundant, for instance, 300 million units were sold world–wide in 2010 [] while one out of two Americans started using smartphones mobile phones in the year 2011 []. This has caused Smart mobile operating system (OS) to become a blazing hot issue, after Apple reintroduced the term "Smart" in a phone in the year 2007. An Android phone manufacturer, Samsung, sold 319.8 million units 32.2 percent, a 15% increase from 2012 whereas Apple sold 153.5 million iPhones worldwide with a 15.5 % market share. In the year 2013 alone, global smart phones shipments boost up 41 percent to reach a record–high 990 million units according to the Thomson Reuters, the world's largest international multimedia news. However, under the hood of market statistics, an enormous technical progress has been made since the inception of mobile devices. As the performance of the mobile device becomes significantly increased, the potential use of such devices is also tremendous. As a result, the developers are now facing the challenge of designing not only hardware architectures but also complex software. Implementation Of The Reporting And Subsequent Implementation of the reporting and subsequent use of pharmacogenomic variants of significance will take a multistep process, and require leadership and buy–in to optimize implementation. The following necessary steps have been described to successfully implement preemptive Pharmacogenomics testing.2 First, there must be a systematic process for genotyping and for migrating test results into the EHR. There must be a permissive institutional infrastructure that will support clinical implementation. There must be a governing committee (usually a subcommittee of the P&T committee), which provides oversight regarding which test results are part of the EHR, and which drugs are linked to CDS alerts. This committee must have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stakeholders will include clinical informatics and bioinformatics experts, providers (both specialists such as genetic counselors and geneticists, and generalists), pharmacists, information security and privacy personnel, and laboratorians. The users will need to be asked about the tasks they do on a daily basis to provide patient care, and about the clinical decisions that would benefit from computer decision support. Stakeholder/users should be surveyed to find out their needs, by asking questions in the following areas: What information do you need that you don't have? Where in the EHR would pharmacogenomic information be located? Would a link–out to a curated definitive information source help? Or would you prefer a more concise summary linked to the moment of prescribing? Or both? How will you decide which drugs–gene pairs to implement alerts for in the EHR? What process will be used to update the system? Who will be responsible? How will new genomic results be put into the EHR, and converted to phenotypes with defined actions?
