HDI Stackup Planner
HDI PCB designers can save time and re-spins, if they have an accurate and detailed HDI
PCB stack-up at the beginning stages of their layout step. The stackups recommended by our
HDI Stackup Planner not only have better yields, but increase the manufacturability and electri-
cal performance for a given design. At Sierra Circuits, we build dozens of HDI designs a month
and we have encoded the best practices for HDI manufacturing in our Stackup Planner. All you
have to do is answer a few simple questions about your design, and you get precise options
for cost-optimized, fully manufacturable stackup structures.
You can either run the Stackup Planner using information about your most complex device
(typically a BGA) on your design, or you can simply specify your PCB layers.
Each Stackup Report shows details such as the layer sequence (Planes or Signals), the thick-
nesses of each layer, the copper weights, overall thickness, the blind/buried via structures, the
pad sizes and trace geometries. You can save your preferred stackups, print them, or email
them to your colleagues for discussion.
