urban development. High Speed Rail in the World The world's first high speed rail line, between
Tokyo and Osaka, Japan, was built in time for the 1964 Olympics. Known as the Shinkansen, or

Your children will attend schools in downtown and will have to use public transportation. In the
suburbs there are certain transportation methods available like buses and trains, while in the inner city
you have one extra which is the metro. At the privacy of your own apartment in the inner city you
can stay home on the computer or watch movies in your living room. In the inner city you will also
not feel safe, as it will be full of different problems downtown every day. At the privacy of your
house in the suburb you can enjoy washing your car in your drive way, you can spend the
afternoon planting in your front and backyard, you can enjoy a sunny day swimming in your pool
and tanning, you can enjoy an afternoon outside doing your barbecue, or doing certain activities
like walking your dog, or going biking to one of the parks near you. Most people in the inner city
use public transportation, as it is faster then driving a car.
Karachi is the biggest city in Pakistan and also one of the most thickly populated cities in the
world. Its population has increased rapidly and accordingly has given rise to many social problems.
People of this metropolis are becoming more and more concerned about solving these serious
problems, some of which are discussed below.

Essay Riding The Train
Riding the Train (Description Essay ENC1101)
Anytime a person experiences something for the first time, that experience can reside in their mind
forever. Their first kiss, first love, and first look at the sunrise may permanently float among their
cherished memories. My mind contains many of these memories. Although my first train ride
occurred over 15 years ago, I still recall every wonderful detail from preparing for the trip to
discovering the inside of the train and the beautiful five hour ride.
It was a breezy day in the summer of 1985 and after spending a week visiting my grandparent's
home in Sebring, Florida, I prepared for my first train ride home. Recalling many old movies I've
watched with tearful...show more content...
I could hear only faint voices discussing the arrival time of the train and the rustling of newspapers
held by men in nearly identical business suits. I stood elegantly on the ancient, wooden platform, and
adjusted my weight from one foot to the other, which caused the wood to creak eerily under my heels
. In the distance, I saw smoke puffing shapes up into the bluish sky and the people around me began
gathering their briefcases, umbrellas and other belongings.
It was time to board the train, find a seat and be on my way. My heartbeat quickened as the
monstrous steel cabins slowed to a crawl in front of me. "All Aboard", yelled a gentleman in a
handsome black suit with brass buttons as large as quarters and seams ironed so crisp I would
swear the suit could stand on it's own without anyone in it. I approached the doorway, which
contained three steps that were easily 18 inches high each. It was necessary for me to lift the tight
hem of my dress to allow my feet to reach each step. Inside the train, I was surprised to see a
diner–type seating area. There were large tables with long booth–like seats covered in a thick, velvet
material. I ran my hand over the Victorian–patterned fabric, and oddly felt a sense of nostalgia for
that train. The window at each table began one foot off the floor and didn't end until they reached
the top of the train. There would be no "fighting for the window seat" on this trip. I chose my seat

Metro 2033 Essay
The book I will be writing about is "Metro 2033" by Dmitry Glukhovsky, published in 2005. This
story starts with Artyom, a young man living underground in the Metro subway systems in
Moscow after a nuclear apocalypse which has wiped out most of life on Earth. He lives in one of
the northernmost stations of the Metro VDNKh which is in a constant fight against the mutant
threats that lurk in the Metro. One day a man called Hunter appears and sees something within
Artyom. He tasks him with an incredible journey through the various stations and tunnels in the
Metro. As Artyom makes his journey to the fabled city of Polis in the centre of the Metro, he
meets Khan who teaches him more about the Metro than anyone could. After a long, perilous
journey, Artyom finally arrives at Polis but to his dismay the government of Polis refuses to help
Artyom's home station. He then takes a few comrades to the missile site of D6 where a missile is
launched at the home of the Dark Ones. The main idea of this story is to show the punishment for
using nuclear weapons and to put fear into the hearts of those who would...show more content...
Artyom hears a train approaching at a fast speed. He runs off the tracks but Bourbon is too late
and he's hit by the train. But there is no train, just a silhouette full of people laughing, eating and
drinking. He goes over to Bourbon, who says in a dark devilish voice, sounding almost possessed,
"I am dead", and then dies. After Bourbon's death Artyom meets Kahn and he explains to Artyom
that the people he saw were the souls of those who died on that train when it crashed. The souls
cannot go to heaven or hell because of the concrete above and below, but remain in the Metro,
repeating the scene of their death over and over again. As Khan says in the video game, "a fitting

Descriptive Essay On The Train
It's been a long week but finally the weekend is here. It's Friday and I'm just about to board the
train to go home. As soon as I enter the train I notice a strong odor; the smell of hard liquor. The
odor is so pungent I quickly pull my shirt over my nose and try to locate the source of the smell. I
soon find that a man who is sitting on the floor by the end of the train is drawing a crowd. This
man seemed to be drawing a attention in an interesting way. There was maybe a 1 foot separation
between him and the other passengers, almost as if there was an invisible barrier between them.
The man in question was probably in his late 50s, had a skinny build, a darker skin tone; perhaps
of Native American descent, no facial hair but had a large amount of hair on his head that he was
able to fashion into a ponytail. His clothes seemed rugged, dirty white sneakers accompanied with
light–blue jeans and a black worn–out jacket that looked a size too large. This man was sitting down
with his eyes closed for quite some time. Newer passengers who boarded were also well aware of
the stench he omitted and were facing away from him. It was quiet like the train usually is but more
awkward, everyone is either looking at their phones, newspapers, books, or just minding their
business. When I got off at Fish–creek station the man was still there sitting aboard the train with his
eyes closed, while leaving I noticed another man who departed at the same station breathe in heavily

Sreedharan did three things to get the project done. First, with infrastructure projects languishing
all over India for lack of funds, he went overseas, tapping the Japan Bank of International
Cooperation for loans to cover 60% of the cost. By comparison, it took the city of Kolkata 22 years
to build its own metro because of a paucity of funds.
Second, Sreedharan scoured the world for top companies with extensive experience in the field.
Pacific Consultants International from Japan advised on the engineering matters, Korea's Rotem and
Japan's Mitsubishi supplied the initial shipment of coaches, while France's Alstom led the
consortium responsible for the design of the automatic train control system.
Delhi Metro Rail – An Introduction
Delhi, the capital city of India, is one of the fastest growing cities in the world with a population
of 13 million as reported in the Census of India Report for the year 2000. Until recently, it was
perhaps the only city of its size in the world depending almost entirely on roads as the sole mode
of mass transport. The total length of the road network in Delhi has increased from a mere 652
km in 1981 to 1122 km in 2001 and it is expected to grow to 1340 km in the year 2021. This
increase in road length is not at par with the phenomenal growth in the number of vehicles on these
roads in Delhi. The cumulative figure of registered private and government buses, the
