Slide 2: Resistance training • There are three types of resistance training that can be incorporated in the improvement of power and speed. • Isotonic: force against an external load that remains constant throughout the movement; most common form of training as it uses free weights. • Isometric: force performed at a constant angle against an immovable load. • Isokinetic: force is generated during movement at a fixed speed through out the range of motion of the joint. This method uses machines, and resistance and control of speed can vary.
