Primary Education Of Upper Class Children
Primary education of upper–class children in colonial days included reading, writing, basic math,
poems, and prayers. Education was provided for white students only and was privately taught: the
purpose was to prepare children for their eventual roles in plantation life. During this time while
males studied advanced academic subjects, the females learned to assume the role of the mistress of
a plantation. It was not until the 1840s that an organized system existed. Education reformers like
Thomas Jefferson with the common school, John Dewey with progressive education and E.D Hirsch
with cultural literacy, who with their contributions helped shape the educational system we have
today.
Thomas Jefferson, the "Man of the People," is best known for drafting the Declaration of
Independence, but he also wrote prolifically and prophetically about education. "If a nation expects
to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be," he
wrote in a letter to a friend. Common school advocates like Jefferson worked to establish a free
elementary education accessible to everyone and financed by public funds. Jefferson understood that
freedom depends on self–government and that education contributes to both the knowledge and
virtues that form a self–governing citizen. Jefferson sought to teach "all children of the state reading,
writing, and common arithmetic." Jefferson viewed this basic education as instrumental in securing

The Development Of A Primary Education For All
Why Educate Nomadic Pastoralists?
There are a number of global efforts to help promote and work towards universal primary education
for all, which includes pastoralist communities. Education development in Africa has been a concern
and topic of discussion dating back to the 1960's and before. "The Development of Education"
conference took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where leaders examined strategies to attain
Universal Primary Education (UPE) by 1980. More than 2 decades after "The Development of
Education" conference, African leaders met once again in Harare, Zimbabwe at the Conference of
African Ministers of Education, where The Harare Declaration was drafted, which included several
strategies for addressing the challenges the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Success document) Partnerships between local governments, communities and schools allows for
transparency and understanding amongst each other. With a better understanding, collaboration is
possible and together, viable solutions can be examined and enacted.
At the World Education Forum that took place in Dakar, Senegal in 2000, The Dakar Framework for
Action, Education for All: Meeting our Collective Commitments was adopted. The framework gave
specific instructions for each state's government to have a plan developed by 2002 to enact
Education for All (EFA) with the goal of achieving EFA targets by 2015. The EFA frameworks were
designed and adapted for 6 different regions in the world including Sub–Saharan Africa
(http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0012/001211/121147e.pdf). The EFA framework and the World
Declaration on Education for All in 1990 were designed and supported with the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights in mind. While pastoralist communities are not explicitly identified in
the EFA framework, it is widely known that pastoralists are a hard to reach community due to their
mobility, and the laborious nature of their livelihoods, which necessitates significant human effort.
In addition, due to the geographic locations of many pastoralist groups, draughts and floods often
impact schools and their ability to function and provide education. Despite the fact that pastoralists
are hard to reach,

General Education Classroom Teachers Are Responsible For...
General education classroom teachers are responsible for providing the primary instruction for
English Language Learners (ELLs) development in English literacy skills (Thompson, 2004).
Supplying ample resources to accommodate ELLs inside and outside of the classroom are essential
as the number of ELL students has grown steadily. According to research, "one out of four of all
children in the United States are from immigrant families, and in most cases these children speak a
language other than English at home" (Samson & Collins, 2012 p. 4). Further research suggests,
"students from a non–English speaking home and background account for the fastest growing
population of children in the kindergarten through twelfth grade setting (Short & ... Show more

"limited language proficiency or dual language deficiency in both their native language and English"
(p. 3). Just as native English speakers, ELL students also have different levels of intellectual
abilities; however, their struggle with school in English may be related to background knowledge
and not solely on intellectual abilities (Short & Echevarria, 2004). Samson and Collins (2012),
purposes if school districts, administrations, and teachers want to see improvements in achievement
for ELLs, "greater continuity in how general education teachers are prepared by teacher–education

making sure that the special needs of ELLs are addressed at multiple stages of the teacher
preparation process, schools may gain higher quality

outcomes for ELLs (p. 9). De Jong and Harper (2005) consider instruction that takes concern to,
"explicit attention in linguistic and cultural needs of ELLs is lacking in most teacher preparation

In order to become a teacher, an individual must take education coursework, evaluations through
student teaching and passing state teacher examinations (Samson & Collins, 2012).

In this respect, the submit calls for countries to plan and implement appropriate policies and
strategies to ensure UPE for all children by 2015. Achieving the goal of UPE by 2015 requires not
only children are in school but also complete primary education. Furthermore, the MDGs require
development agencies and developed countries to re–affirm their commitment to provide financial
and technical assistance to poor countries to implement these plans.
2 Statement of the problem
The compressive nature of MDGs, targets and indicators pose several problems as well as
opportunity for the countries that embraced them and Ethiopia is also one of them. For the last many
decades Ethiopia is characterized by higher level of poverty prevalence, poor access for education,
health, water supply and sanitation. In the recent years there are some improvements regarding
reduction of poverty, access to education and health. Especially the education sector is in rapid
growth than ever before. The MDGs regarding education requires that there should be full primary
enrolment and elimination of gender disparity in primary and secondary education. Despite rapid
expansion of primary enrollment in Ethiopia, many children continue to remain behind normal
schooling progress. According to the Ministry of Education the Current national figures indicate that

Language, Health, And Education Of A Peruvian Culture Essay
What is culture? Culture includes languages, ideas, beliefs, customs, institutions, inventions,
technology, and values. One may ask what do the people of the society wear? How do they prepare
their food? What type of foods to the eat? What kind of work do they do? We are not born with any
knowledge of a culture. This is something we learn throughout time and it makes up who and what
you are as a person. There are many different cultures in the world today. But that is what makes our
society unique. Culture is based on long standing traditions that have been passed on from one
generation to another. The purpose of this paper is to compare language, health, and education of a
Peruvian culture to the American lifestyle.
I was born and raised in Trujillo, Peru. Peru is located in the west of South America, and has borders
with Ecuador, Columbia, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile. According to the world atlas this small town I
was raised in has a population of 747,450 making it the biggest city in La Libertad. My life as an
only child was so different compared to the American life style I see now a day. I grew up with two
wonderful strict parent, who wanted the best for their only child. I was taught to respect our elder
and peers, speak with politeness, and always use manners. That is an example of "culture" that is
passed on from one generation to another.
When it comes to culture it depends on the state or country that you live in. As we age we teach our
children these values and

A SUMMARY OF WHAT I INTEND TO DO.
The research will investigate the effects of free primary education on learners with diverse needs in
the main stream primary schools. (A case of Lilongwe Urban Schools)
Identification of a sample of teachers, parents, pupils, schools.
Distribution of questionnaires, conduct interviews, and observations.
The Data will be conducted from four mainstream primary schools in Lilongwe district.

primary schools in which in some way or the other prevent them from receiving quality education.

This is expensive and need expertise to use specialized materials. In this case, if the government is
failing to provide learning materials for ordinary learners, what more to the provision of teaching
and learning materials to learners with special educational needs.
The shortage of teachers and recruitment of unqualified and untrained teachers who did not have
any knowledge on special needs education was also another recipe for disaster because the needs of
learners with special educational needs were not given a priority. (Ministry of Education PIF
document 2000). Thus, it is reported by 1997, more than half the teachers were untrained, compared
with 13% before the introduction of Free Primary Education. The World Bank Report on effects of
free primary education (2004) states that this left learners with special educational needs to struggle
to meet the needs of the school and not the schools meeting the needs of learners with special
educational needs. As such it is to the interest of the researcher to assess on how this has led to low
academic achievement to both learners with special educational needs and ordinary learners.
Poor infrastructure is also another area of concern, according to an article by Ligomeka. B. (2000), it
is stated that the ambitious plan by the Malawi government to boost its education levels by offering
free primary education backfired, largely because of the terrible poor

The Millennium Development Goals : Eradicate Extreme...
The Millennium Development Goals were established in September of 2000 and third world
countries who demonstrated significant need for assistance in regards to basic human rights and
quality of life were put at the forefront of the project. The effectiveness of many intergovernmental
organizations and nongovernmental organizations on these countries were set to be analyzed in
2015. The eight major goals presented at the Millennium Summit were: Eradicate Extreme Hunger
and Poverty, Achieve Universal Primary Education, Promote Gender Equality and Empower
Women, Reduce Child Mortality, Improve Maternal Health, Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other
diseases, Ensure Environmental Sustainability, and to Develop a Global Partnership for
Development (UN Millennium Project). These goals were established as the basis for creating a
sustainable and human rights oriented society.
Under the goal, Achieve Universal Primary Education, one of the most significant indicators of
successful advancement for the underdeveloped countries at hand was the net enrollment ratio in
primary education (UN Millennium Project). However, the net enrolment ratio in primary education
is sometimes inconsistent as it produces values greater than one hundred percent, but it is the factor
that data is most available in underdeveloped countries. An intergovernmental organization that
plays a significant role in the creation of opportunities for primary education for children in
underdeveloped areas is the Global

The Primary Factor Of Total Quality In Education
Total quality education. The primary factor of total quality in education is school improvement.
School improvement is a continuous process, which involve strategies that purpose to establish,
develop, and focus on the talents and skills of teachers and students based on the visions of the
educational and personal goals. School improvement involves collaborative leadership,
personalizing the school environment, and assessments to improve leader effectiveness and school
performance. In a system of total quality, there must an atmosphere of supportive and harmonious
relationships between school leaders and staff, and open communication between the school and all
its social agents (Saiti, 2012). In order to have total quality education, proficient leadership and
commitment to effective teaching and learning must exist. Principals and other school leaders must
ensure that they have the necessary skills, tools, and mindsets to stimulate school improvement.
Integrating Principles. School leaders must develop comprehensive systems in an effort to adjust
and accommodate all teachers and students' educational requirements; by utilizing experiences and
social exchanges in a context in which, learners have to make decisions and exchange perspectives
through productive interaction and dialogue. In order to enhance learning for project leadership in
education and to apply it effectively in leading projects, interactive learning is used to implicate how

Similarities And Differences Of School Systems Between...
Canada and Sweden are both wealthy countries without any major issues such as natural disasters or
dictatorship. These circumstances have made it a lot easier for the countries to develop good school
systems. Because these countries are so similar and because they have developed in the same pace,
the school systems are very similar. I have chosen to focus on the differences and similarities
between these two countries when it comes to the first six years of education including preschool. In
Sweden, kids are obligated to start their education at the age of seven. Before this age, from the age
of one, they have the opportunity to join a kindergarten. The kindergartens in Sweden do not focus
on teaching the kids anything. Instead they are used as a place where the children kan ... Show more

I think this is because both countries have had the same chance to develop their society. Both
countries have a lot of money and have not suffered any losses through war or dictatorship. The
countries have had the chance to develop functioning societies and school systems in their own pace
without anything stopping them. I think the thing that causes the slight differences is the fact that the
political systems are different. The way the country is ruled affects things such as rules for education
etc. If Sweden and Canada had the same type of government, I think the school systems would be
about exactly the same. Another thing that might cause differences in the school system is the
culture in the country. Different countries have different values and this will affect how the country
is ruled. However, I don't think there is a very big difference in values between Sweden and Canada.
As a conclusion, Sweden and Canada are incredibly similar in a lot of ways and this seems to be
because they developed during the same time under the same consequences. The very few
differences have to do with the differences in the political

information is up to date. Current information is very helpful when students are doing research,
technology helps them find issues and events to ensure that the sources they are using are reliable
and up to date. Technology motivates students in many different ways whether it be interactive

learners where technology comes into play. Technology supports audio books that are encouraging
students literacy and grammar by reading the story to them. Finally, students innovation is enhanced

No Secret That Education Is The Primary Foundation For...
Dear Mayors of towns in New England, ( December 10, 1838 )
It's no secret that education is the primary foundation for genuine success in life. Therefore, it's
imperative for us to ameliorate our nation's education system as much as possible for the future
generations. For the most part, up until this point, most Americans who have pursued an education
have done so through private means. I am by no means saying that free schooling in America today
is non–existent, but it's evident that the education provided by these institutions is inadequate due to
a lack of trained professionals. Therefore, we must sedulously work towards fabricating a greatly
needed public education system in our beloved nation. The challenges that America has faced ...

And perhaps most vital of all, I have received word of America's first ever teacher–training college
opening in Massachusetts during sometime next year. These are all critical accomplishments, but
this is just the beginning.
As far as the goals of this reform movement are concerned, our paramount objective is to provide
each and every student with free and equal education and opportunities. In order for this to happen,
it's imperative for this public education system to be put implemented all over the nation. With
regards to the financing of these common schools, we intend on collecting the necessary funds
through taxes. Again, our hope is that these common schools will help shape Americans into
exemplary citizens. Another vital prospect to take into consideration is that a unified education
system would help assimilate all immigrants, which is fundamental, especially now during a time
when immigration has increased and will continue to increase at an exponential rate. Another
notable and somewhat ambitious goal is to procure the highest literacy rate in the world. These are
all things that definitely won't happen overnight, but we are determined to work diligently towards
meeting these goals.
Barriers and obstacles are always a part of the goal achieving process. Our education reform
movement is no different. Religious division is probably the biggest obstacle

As Inman S. and Rogers M. (2006) rightly put it, presently, it is a big concern since it was first
brought up in the UN conference on Environment and Development issues in Rio de Janeiro in
1992, where governments committed themselves to integrate the concepts of environmental
awareness and sustainable development in the informal and formal education sectors.
Caesar (2005) as cited in Inman S. and Rogers M. (2006) estimated that in 2006, one person in five
would have less than one dollar per day to live on, ten million people, including 4.5 million children
would die from hunger–related diseases and at least 13 million people would be refugees. From the
environmental perspective, Climate change is already responsible for a huge increase in extreme
weather conditions which bring devastation and disaster. The recent case is the prolonged drought in
Kenya resulting from the destruction of the main water catchment areas, such as the Mau,
complemented by the uncontrolled emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. According to
Connor (2005) as cited by Inman S. and Rogers M. (2006);
"the social, economic, political and environmental issues are threatening the only fabric that makes
the people a community; celebrate their diversity and endeavour rather peacefully to meet their basic
needs."
Kenya, being part of the global framework, has in a similar version been faced with a myriad of
challenges.

INTRODUCTION:
Education is important not only for the full development of development of ones personality, but
also for the adequate of the nation. Form the birth to the death of the human being, education is a
continuous process. Which all the stages of education i.e. per–primary, secondary, higher secondary,
graduation etc. are very important. Primary education in India means seven years of schooling from
the age of six. The government has made elementary education compulsory for all the children up to
the age of 14, to achieve the goal of universal elementary education. Article 45 of the constitution
has stated to provide free and compulsory education for all the children of the age 6 to 14. The
Education Commission (1986–66), the National Policy on Education (1968) and the National Policy
on Education(1986) the reiterated the state responsibility to provide free and compulsory education
to all children up to the age of 14 years. The Supreme Court of India in its judgment of 1993
declared primary education to as a fundamental right. After the District Primary Education

The promotion of foreign language education in America's primary schools is vital to a child's
learning process, cultural awareness, and future in the workforce. Although they are scarce, there are
some elementary schools across the United States that incorporate foreign language courses in the
curriculum. This is most common in areas bordering other countries and relative to the language
spoken, as French is taught most often along the border of Canada and Spanish along the border of
Mexico. The process of learning another language is beneficial the learning process of all subjects

Guidelines to teaching a foreign language highlight all of these elements. Listening, reading,
writing, and speaking are all taught and tested at beginner, intermediate, advanced, and superior
levels so that these different learning methods are highlighted and executed at varying levels.
Children also learn and are shown new ways of looking at the world through the varying strategies.
In fact, correlation studies have shown that "students who have had several years of foreign
language do better on SATs, particularly the verbal part" (WALKER). As root words, prefixes,
suffixes, conjugation, and noun agreements are taught in new languages, it is easier to see
connections to the structure of one's first language. The knowledge of a language one is raised
speaking and understanding is simply obtained through experience. However, learning a second
language emphasizes the parts of language that come naturally in the first. It takes self–motivated
work and dedication to learn a second language later in life, so the outcome of attaining a
comprehensive grasp on a foreign language early on pays off in multiple ways.
There are three categories that elementary school foreign language education falls into; FLES
(Foreign Language in Elementary Schools). FLEX (Foreign Language Exploration or Experience),
and Immersion. FLES programs are the most similar to the teaching strategies in middle and high
schools.

The Australian Education System : Primary Secondary And...
The Australian education system offers primary, secondary and tertiary education. School education
is primary and secondary while tertiary education comprises both vocational education and training
(VET) and higher education, including universities (Elcom 2013). Australian qualification
framework (AQF) is a government–authorized and nationally accredited policy that covers the
tertiary education sector. The AQF has 10 levels and links school, vocational and university
education qualifications into one national system (Elcom 2013). With respect to funding education,
each state or territory government funds and regulates the public and private schools within their
governing area while the federal government helps fund the public universities (Elcom 2013; King
2001, p. 190).
The universities are predominantly owned by the government and relay on government subsidy as
their main source of income to run their everyday business. Universities argue that the reduction in
funding tertiary education would bring a crisis in higher education system (King 2001, p. 191). On
the other hand, government of all political persuasions seems to accept university funding as a trivial
government agenda. Even though, recently elected coalition government has announced a slight–
increase in research funding, the package seems too little compared to recent plan on university
funding cut (King 2001, p. 191). The fresh proposal to cut university funding will hamper

Jose Marti Research Paper
José Martí, born on January 28, 1853 in Havana, Cuba, was a poet, essayist and patriot who proudly
lead Cuba through its struggle for independence from the Spanish with objectives to establish a new
Cuba with improved principles.
He was the son of poor Spanish immigrants, Leonor Pérez and Mariano Martí. Martí grew up in
poverty with his father's small army pension that was supplemented by his work as a night
watchman. Despite these surroundings, Martí was very studious and well educated. When he was

This particular lesson helped Martí shape his own fundamental idea about education, which is that
"Education has an inescapable duty towards man.. to adapt him to the age in which he lives, without
turning him aside from the great and final objective of human life. To educate is to give man the
keys to the world, which are independence and love, and to give him strength to journey on his own,
light of step, a spontaneous and free being". Although Martí never formally knew Luz, he helped
him realize that education is a preparation of man for life. Martí was also later influenced by the
ideas of the reformers Benito Juarez and Lerdo when he went to Mexico and came into contact with
the clash between romanticism and positivism when he attended a forum in Liceo Hidalgo. Martí
took part in the discussions on the ideas of these reformers and later developed these ideas by
applying his some of his own ideas. (Nassif. Prospects: The Quarterly Review of Comparative

Primary Educational Disparities And Education
There are several primary educational disparities that arise when race and income are considered.
These gaps are due to the notion that the majority of minorities live in low–income areas that have
underfunded public schools. Schools in impoverished areas tend to have fewer educational resources
such as supplies, funding, amenities, and college preparatory classes. However, "students living in
poverty require more intensive resources..., and many schools in poor neighborhoods lack
the...resources to break the nexus between student background characteristics and student
achievement" (Nielsen, 2013). Since race has already been found to be a significant factor in college
readiness, poor racial minorities face a more complex disadvantage than their higher income or
white counterparts. Concentrated poverty further prevents minorities from rising in economic status.
With such a large population of minority children attending underfunded schools, they are learning
in environment that hinders their ability to complete higher education. Additionally, students who
live in low–income areas typically attend schools with higher poverty rates; thus, those students are
not as equally prepared for college. Lack of funding and resources in poorer schools prevents
students from learning the advanced math, reading, science, and social skills needed to be prepared
for higher education. This gap in resources provides a means for the students of provincial schools
to have a further breach

The Effects Of Class Size On Primary School Education
Effects of Class Size on Primary School Education Primary school class sizes should be reduced to
increase the number of students who achieve consistent academic success, as well as teachers'
abilities to sufficiently teach students. Teachers will also have to adjust their teaching methods to
accommodate a smaller class. Most parents when asked if they believe that class sizes matter will
tell you yes, they certainly do. Researches show that cutting class sizes has proven to only be
effective in primary school (Blatchford et al., n.d.). As the grades go up, the results go down.
Secondary schools do not show much results when researchers experiment with class sizes, no
matter the area. A student's ability is often determined by how well a teacher educates them on a
subject. Research conducted by Diane Whitmore Schanzenbach says that teachers should be able to
change their pedagogy, or teaching methods, to be more efficient in teaching depending on class size
(Schanzenbach, 2014). Teachers would have to teach and act in a different manner depending on
class size because there would be less students to worry about. The idea that teachers have to change
their pedagogy based on the size of a class is very popular, even among teachers (Woods, 2015). A
great amount of the teacher population agrees that reducing class sizes would make teaching easier.
It would also mean less grading. However, Gary James Harfitt made a suggestion based off his own
research that teachers do not

Interview With Blanchefort Djimsa
To learn from another that is not like you, that is from another country, gives you the opportunity to
acquire knowledge that opens your eyes and lets you better understand the world around you. That
can definitely be said after conducting my interview for the Cross–Cultural Interaction Report. I had
the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Blanchefort Djimsa, a Food Science major, who is from
the country of Chad which is located in Central Africa. Blanchefort is from the city of Moundou, the
third largest city, which is in the South of Chad. Here on scholarship, he is attending Oklahoma
State University to further his education. Blanchefort told me about his country and gave me a
different perspective about Chad. From the Saharan desert in the North, to the savannah plains in the
central region, to the more fertile soil and rivers that feed into Lake Chad in the Southwest, Chad is
the fifth largest country in Africa. According to the World Fact Book "the country is comparatively
slightly 3 times the size of California". With two seasons, the rainy season from late April to
September (depending on the length of the rainy season which can vary), and the summer season for
the rest of the year, Chad is home to around 11.5 million people. With a growing population the
country has mostly a younger generation. With almost half the population being under 18 years of

Essay about Primary Education in Uganda
Primary Education in Uganda – A Policy Analysis
Over the past five years, Uganda's education system has proved both effective and successful.
Although in the process of further development, it has nonetheless served as a model for many
developing African countries. The Ugandan government, with President Yoweri Museveni at its
forefront, has determined primary education to be one of the major channels toward poverty
eradication and as a vital resource for economic and social development. The Ugandan government
has made a national commitment to eradicate illiteracy and educate its citizens through the 1997
initiative, Universal Primary Education (UPE). All levels of government, the private sector, grass–
root organizations, local and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a consequence, policy was adopted that would better Uganda's financial position, which led to an
emphasis of secondary and higher education in order to fill the demand for "high–level" manpower.
(Bell, p. 4) The emphasis soon changed as it was realized by the Commission of Education in
Uganda in 1965 that the content and structure of primary school education should also be geared
toward meeting the economic needs of the country. P. Beghin wrote in Recent Trends in Primary
Education Policy in Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, "primary education is no longer regarded as a mere
preparation to secondary and higher education. Primary school is, in the view of the Syllabus, a
terminal education for a part of the pupils, which at present is actually the majority of them." (1968,
pg. 6) From this time, documented Ugandan education policy on issues such as instructional
language, examinations, and scientific literacy was expanded and reformed to include primary
education.
During the political turmoil of the 1970s and 1980s when leadership changed hands, the education
system suffered, yet functionally operated by relying on local and regional–based administrators and
nation–wide standardization. (Upenn Sas) As the political situation settled in Uganda, education
became the new hot topic and was regarded as an issue of international development. President
Yoweri Museveni and the National Resistance Movement Government, initiated a review of
education policy and

As an indicative note, there is to date no material Arabic – written on Business, Marketing and other

every aspect with a westernised business approach. The recent global events related to the outburst

The enormous research gap that exists in this field in particular gives place to the possibility of

real handicap, it also opens the door to a multitude of approaches and a stronger built up study,
where the researcher will have the opportunity to dig freely beneath the surface. The

Personal Statement For Primary School Education
Personal Statement
I have a strong desire to pursue an education course during my time at university in 2018 as I
believe primary schooling is an institution which is aligned with my core beliefs and values. I
believe university has the ability to further my own personal development and will gift me the
opportunity to complete core subjects which that will assist my understanding of education.
Furthermore, I highly value the ethical grounding university provides its graduates with and I am
aware that this is also highly valued by school employers.
Throughout my own school education at St. Brigid's Coogee and Marcellin college Randwick, I
have been inspired by many of the teachers and the experiences I have encountered. As a
consequence of this, I want to continue the vocation of education and I believe attending an
education course at university will enable me to achieve my goal. Moreover, I believe that primary
school education is the foundation of the world's view and teaching in primary schools would allow
me to become a part of an important factor contributing to the wider world. I know that University
provides significant pastoral care and important intellect that will assist me throughout my goal to
become a teacher.
The career itself not only has the potential to place me in a stable financial state, but more
importantly a job that will quench my strive to make a difference in this world. Through a large

organisations such the Physical Education Association (PEA) as reported latter on in the assignment.
Furthermore the government have the responsibility for deciding on the cornerstone set of

Free Primary Education in Kenya
Introduction
Since independence in, Kenya has had its share of the struggle to make it possible for its population
attains education for all. This was out of the realization that education of the population would help
fight ills that faced the society, among them included; poverty, ignorance, and disease. In fact, the
government treated education as a basic right for every Kenyan child. Education has ever since been
regarded as a fundamental factor for human capital development. In response to this urge,
government developed policy documents that sort to expand access to education for its citizens. It is
internationally recognized that everyone has a right to education, as agreed upon at various
international conferences. Kenya tried to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Any additional charges were to be approved by the government through the ministry of education.
The complexity of the problem is heightened by the use of the word 'free'. Free as a term in English
means to be able to act at will, not hampered; not under compulsion or restraint to do something. It
also means costing nothing. The term has other numerous meanings that differ under given
circumstances or contexts. We may therefore even wonder whether education can be free or not. Is it
possible to resist education incase one is not interested in taking it freely? If free is taken to mean
what is supposed to mean in this context, how free is free? This term, therefore, may be ambiguous
and is subject to misrepresentations and hence prone to misinterpretations. This is most likely to
occur if little effort is made to clarify the meaning of the usage. Clarity is one of the most important
elements of any policy so as to avoid multiple interpretations.
Community participation
The third concern here is the need to understand how the stakeholders in the education understood
the policy. The policy was formulated without consulting those who are closely concerned with
practice of education and those are teachers and parents. This resulted in the lack of clear guidelines
for the implementation of free education as a government policy. The teachers were not adequately
prepared to manage the influx of pupils of all ages. Little effort was made to in–service teachers and

The Impact that Physical Education Can Have on Encouraging...
One of the definitions of Physical Education is; 'regular instruction in physical exercise and games
in schools and other institutions' (Oxford English Dictionary). It is compulsory in the UK for every
child up to the age of 16. Physical Education has been adapted immensely to fit the needs of young
people and is still continuing to change. There are an increasing number of young people leading
sedentary lifestyles by watching television instead of doing physical activity (British Heart
Foundation, 2012). In this essay, ideas have been challenged and there is a distinct argument about
the impact that PE can have on encouraging young people to engage in physical activity.

From 1992 until 2008, the different forms of the National Curriculum for Physical Education have
been focused around the notion of Sport and Performance. There was a strong emphasis on
competition and finding elite performers which may not be an ideal approach. Many children dislike
the competitive element of sport and would rather take part for personal or social reasons. This
wouldn't encourage young people to sustain physical activity levels as they may not want to
compete and have only seen physical activity in a competitive light. In 2008, the new National
Curriculum was launched and its priority was given to health and physical activity rather than sport.
This reduced the amount of competitive elements and made it more about taking part. Some would
say that the 4th NCPE was seen as successful as in 2007, 17% of boys and 16% of girls aged 2–15
were classified as obese and this decreased as in 2009, 16% of boys and 15% of girls aged 2–15
were seen as obese (Statistics on Obesity, Physical Activity and Diet – England, 2009 and 2011).
This slight decrease could be down to the change in the type of activities offered in school although
it may not be the only factor. Giving young people the opportunity to set personal goals rather than
basing everything around competition would promote life–long participation in physical activity as
they will get a sense of achievement from completing that specific goal. However, this focus on

The National Curriculum For Primary Education
Why does England have a National Curriculum for primary education? To what extent does the
National Curriculum 2014 for English, mathematics or science reflect current theories of teaching
and learning?
The National Curriculum prescribes what should be taught in both primary and secondary state
schools and is set out by the Department of Education. It and when. It is organised into four blocks
called 'Key Stages', with KS1 and KS2 in primary schools (Department for Education, 2013). There
are twelve subjects, classified in to 'core' and 'other foundation' subjects, each set out in a
programme of study. The programmes of study also contain 'attainment targets' for each subject
(House of Commons, 2009). Unlike other countries the National ... Show more content on

Additionally, it intended to improve the coherence within the curriculum and provide objectives for
attainment at different stages of school (DES, 1987). Subsequently, the National Curriculum for
England was introduced in1989. Its intention was to standardise the content taught across schools
and to raise standards so that England could compete with other countries academically (Kelly,
1994).
Since the inception of the National Curriculum there have been several initiatives to change the
content, format and guidance within it. In 1998, the National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies,
aimed at primary education, were launched by the Labour Government (House of Commons, 2009).
They were introduced to help teachers set "appropriately high expectations" and increase the
percentage of children receiving a level 4 by the time they left primary school (The National
Numeracy Strategy, 1998). In 1993 and 1999 there were major reviews of the NC resulting in the
reduction of prescribed content (Roberts, 2014). Additionally, The Independent Review of the
Primary Curriculum by Jim Rose was published in 2009, which led the way for the changes being
introduced to the new NC in 2013 (Rose, 2009). Performance has been a major incentive behind
reviewing the NC at various stages. In the document, Reform of the National Curriculum in England
(2013) it states:

Education is required in Ireland for children between the ages of 6 and 16. Children usually attend
primary school from the ages of 4 to 12 years old. The overall aim of primary education is to enable
children to live a full life as a child and to realise their potential as an individual. The school
environment will likewise help the child to develop as a social being through living and co–
operating with others and above all to prepare the child for future learning. There were a number of
definitions available around the term educational disadvantage. The action plan created by the

each school develop and enforce a policy to encourage involvement by parents in the life of schools
and this policy was developed in discussion with the parents and be sensitive to the cultural
characteristics of the traveller community (Department of Education and Science, 2003). According

income or social status but the extent to which that student's family is able to create a home

Stories such as 'When Grandma Was Young' (Humphrey, 2000), 'Elmer and Grandpa Eldo' (Mckee,
2001) and 'My Granny is a Pirate' (Mcdermid and Robins, 2012) can invoke interest with early years
children and inspire them to become inquisitive about the past. It has been suggested that time
means nothing to young children. However learning to ask and answer questions through story
reading will enhance their concept history. Therefore continuing to do so through the Early Learning
Goals will prepare children, entering at primary level, to appreciate the importance of history (Lunn
and Bishop, 2004).
It is important to remember to children do not stop learning history when they finish their time at
primary school. Maintained secondary schools follow the NC which maintains that all children will
continue to learn history by means of the KS3 History Programmes of Study (2013). Therefore it is
important to prepare children for more challenging and precise history learning. New topics shall be

Economic Development Of The Dominican Republic And Haiti
Economic Development in the Dominican Republic and Haiti
I. Introduction The following paper is oriented to explore why the divergence of a similarly
sustained economic development of the Dominican Republic (D.R.) and Haiti. The fact that both
countries share the same territory, but their economic development in recent days differ from one
another make this topic is highly important, since it can bring deeper insight about the different
causes that can affect the economic development of a country. First, we will take a look at economic
development or economic growth. Then, we will observe how education or the lack of such might
affect such growth. Education as a factor will be evaluated as a possible cause for the differences in
economic development between the two nations. It is important to point out the existence of other
factors that might affect economic development, but many literatures have suggested that the
aforementioned factor is one of much importance. It is also important to mention that, the research
method to be used in this paper will consist of empirical background research, and would be done
through comparison, analysis, and evaluation of information collected from the work presented by
previous authors, and important sources such as The World Bank. As anticipated results a correlation

The State Of Quality Of Primary Education
The State of Quality of Primary Education in India
The key concern about education, in any formal educational system, of all time, has been its quality.
Every stake holder, direct or indirect, of education is concerned about its quality. Guardians or
parents, irrespective of their socio–economic status, want to educate their children with best quality
education which would add better value to the degrees their wards acquire subject to the budget
constraints. But what do we mean by 'quality education? How this quality is being assessed? What is
the status of the quality of education in India? This paper seeks to focus on these issues with respect
to the quality of primary education in India.
There is no universally accepted definition for 'quality of education'. In education, perception of
quality is around students (Mukhopadhyay, 2001). The performance of the students like examination
results, learning achievements, ability to apply learned knowledge in practical life–– exhibit the
quality of an education. For some, "Quality of education" means value addition in education
(Feigenbaum 1951); excellence in education (Peters and Waterman 1982); for others, fitness of
education outcomes and experience for use (Juran and Gryna 1988). For a society, "excellence" and
"value" are most appropriate indicators for quality education. A generally accepted definition of
quality education does not exist and different end users adopt different criteria for determining the
quality of

Achieving Universal Primary Education Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat, foundress of the Society of
the Sacred Heart, once said, "With the pupils... show them that you want to help them acquire a solid
and pious education, enhanced by learning, and thus make them happy" (Barat). Barat made it
evident that there is a huge impact as a result of education. This impact can be personal in the way
that Barat described it as education making people happy to an impact on a society as a whole. It is
commonly known that an education allows for a person to improve their life, their social class, and
their job. Education also allows for societies to improve and advance. Education and societal
advancements are directly related. It is obvious, especially to people who have benefitted from
schooling, that an education is absolutely fundamental to a person's and a society's successes. Across
the world, there are people who may have access to a proper education, but they do not have the
proper supplies and tools that they need to benefit from that education. While there have been great
strides in reforming education and the lack thereof across the world, much more needs to be done,
whether it be in Sub–Saharan Africa or St. Louis, MO, to fully achieve universal primary education.
Globally, the United Nations and its partner countries are working to achieve universal primary
education, goal two of the Millennium Development Goals. The U.N.

  • 3. Primary Education Of Upper Class Children Primary education of upper–class children in colonial days included reading, writing, basic math, poems, and prayers. Education was provided for white students only and was privately taught: the purpose was to prepare children for their eventual roles in plantation life. During this time while males studied advanced academic subjects, the females learned to assume the role of the mistress of a plantation. It was not until the 1840s that an organized system existed. Education reformers like Thomas Jefferson with the common school, John Dewey with progressive education and E.D Hirsch with cultural literacy, who with their contributions helped shape the educational system we have today. Thomas Jefferson, the "Man of the People," is best known for drafting the Declaration of Independence, but he also wrote prolifically and prophetically about education. "If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be," he wrote in a letter to a friend. Common school advocates like Jefferson worked to establish a free elementary education accessible to everyone and financed by public funds. Jefferson understood that freedom depends on self–government and that education contributes to both the knowledge and virtues that form a self–governing citizen. Jefferson sought to teach "all children of the state reading, writing, and common arithmetic." Jefferson viewed this basic education as instrumental in securing "life, liberty, and ... • 5. The Development Of A Primary Education For All Why Educate Nomadic Pastoralists? There are a number of global efforts to help promote and work towards universal primary education for all, which includes pastoralist communities. Education development in Africa has been a concern and topic of discussion dating back to the 1960's and before. "The Development of Education" conference took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where leaders examined strategies to attain Universal Primary Education (UPE) by 1980. More than 2 decades after "The Development of Education" conference, African leaders met once again in Harare, Zimbabwe at the Conference of African Ministers of Education, where The Harare Declaration was drafted, which included several strategies for addressing the challenges the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Success document) Partnerships between local governments, communities and schools allows for transparency and understanding amongst each other. With a better understanding, collaboration is possible and together, viable solutions can be examined and enacted. At the World Education Forum that took place in Dakar, Senegal in 2000, The Dakar Framework for Action, Education for All: Meeting our Collective Commitments was adopted. The framework gave specific instructions for each state's government to have a plan developed by 2002 to enact Education for All (EFA) with the goal of achieving EFA targets by 2015. The EFA frameworks were designed and adapted for 6 different regions in the world including Sub–Saharan Africa (http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0012/001211/121147e.pdf). The EFA framework and the World Declaration on Education for All in 1990 were designed and supported with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in mind. While pastoralist communities are not explicitly identified in the EFA framework, it is widely known that pastoralists are a hard to reach community due to their mobility, and the laborious nature of their livelihoods, which necessitates significant human effort. In addition, due to the geographic locations of many pastoralist groups, draughts and floods often impact schools and their ability to function and provide education. Despite the fact that pastoralists are hard to reach, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

General education classroom teachers are responsible for providing the primary instruction for English Language Learners (ELLs) development in English literacy skills (Thompson, 2004). Supplying ample resources to accommodate ELLs inside and outside of the classroom are essential as the number of ELL students has grown steadily. According to research, "one out of four of all children in the United States are from immigrant families, and in most cases these children speak a language other than English at home" (Samson & Collins, 2012 p. 4). Further research suggests, "students from a non–English speaking home and background account for the fastest growing population of children in the kindergarten through twelfth grade setting (Short & ... Some ELL students may start school without any English language skills, while others may have "limited language proficiency or dual language deficiency in both their native language and English" (p. 3). Just as native English speakers, ELL students also have different levels of intellectual abilities; however, their struggle with school in English may be related to background knowledge and not solely on intellectual abilities (Short & Echevarria, 2004). Samson and Collins (2012), purposes if school districts, administrations, and teachers want to see improvements in achievement for ELLs, "greater continuity in how general education teachers are prepared by teacher–education programs, certified by states and evaluated by local education agencies, or LEAs, is essential. By making sure that the special needs of ELLs are addressed at multiple stages of the teacher preparation process, schools may gain higher quality Running Head: TEACHER EDUCATION 3 teachers of ELLs and more importantly, higher outcomes for ELLs (p. 9). De Jong and Harper (2005) consider instruction that takes concern to, "explicit attention in linguistic and cultural needs of ELLs is lacking in most teacher preparation programs" (p. 101). In order to become a teacher, an individual must take education coursework, evaluations through student teaching and passing state teacher examinations (Samson & Collins, 2012). ... • 17. Language, Health, And Education Of A Peruvian Culture Essay What is culture? Culture includes languages, ideas, beliefs, customs, institutions, inventions, technology, and values. One may ask what do the people of the society wear? How do they prepare their food? What type of foods to the eat? What kind of work do they do? We are not born with any knowledge of a culture. This is something we learn throughout time and it makes up who and what you are as a person. There are many different cultures in the world today. But that is what makes our society unique. Culture is based on long standing traditions that have been passed on from one generation to another. The purpose of this paper is to compare language, health, and education of a Peruvian culture to the American lifestyle. I was born and raised in Trujillo, Peru. Peru is located in the west of South America, and has borders with Ecuador, Columbia, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile. According to the world atlas this small town I was raised in has a population of 747,450 making it the biggest city in La Libertad. My life as an only child was so different compared to the American life style I see now a day. I grew up with two wonderful strict parent, who wanted the best for their only child. I was taught to respect our elder and peers, speak with politeness, and always use manners. That is an example of "culture" that is passed on from one generation to another. In this case, if the government is failing to provide learning materials for ordinary learners, what more to the provision of teaching and learning materials to learners with special educational needs. The shortage of teachers and recruitment of unqualified and untrained teachers who did not have any knowledge on special needs education was also another recipe for disaster because the needs of learners with special educational needs were not given a priority. (Ministry of Education PIF document 2000). Thus, it is reported by 1997, more than half the teachers were untrained, compared with 13% before the introduction of Free Primary Education. The World Bank Report on effects of free primary education (2004) states that this left learners with special educational needs to struggle to meet the needs of the school and not the schools meeting the needs of learners with special educational needs. The Millennium Development Goals were established in September of 2000 and third world countries who demonstrated significant need for assistance in regards to basic human rights and quality of life were put at the forefront of the project. Dear Mayors of towns in New England, ( December 10, 1838 ) It's no secret that education is the primary foundation for genuine success in life. Therefore, it's imperative for us to ameliorate our nation's education system as much as possible for the future generations. For the most part, up until this point, most Americans who have pursued an education have done so through private means. I am by no means saying that free schooling in America today is non–existent, but it's evident that the education provided by these institutions is inadequate due to a lack of trained professionals. Therefore, we must sedulously work towards fabricating a greatly needed public education system in our beloved nation. The challenges that America has faced ... These are all critical accomplishments, but this is just the beginning. As far as the goals of this reform movement are concerned, our paramount objective is to provide each and every student with free and equal education and opportunities. In order for this to happen, it's imperative for this public education system to be put implemented all over the nation. With regards to the financing of these common schools, we intend on collecting the necessary funds through taxes. Again, our hope is that these common schools will help shape Americans into exemplary citizens. Another vital prospect to take into consideration is that a unified education system would help assimilate all immigrants, which is fundamental, especially now during a time when immigration has increased and will continue to increase at an exponential rate. Another notable and somewhat ambitious goal is to procure the highest literacy rate in the world. These are all things that definitely won't happen overnight, but we are determined to work diligently towards meeting these goals. Barriers and obstacles are always a part of the goal achieving process. Our education reform movement is no different. Religious division is probably the biggest obstacle ... In fact, correlation studies have shown that "students who have had several years of foreign language do better on SATs, particularly the verbal part" (WALKER). As root words, prefixes, suffixes, conjugation, and noun agreements are taught in new languages, it is easier to see connections to the structure of one's first language. School education is primary and secondary while tertiary education comprises both vocational education and training (VET) and higher education, including universities (Elcom 2013). Australian qualification framework (AQF) is a government–authorized and nationally accredited policy that covers the tertiary education sector. The AQF has 10 levels and links school, vocational and university education qualifications into one national system (Elcom 2013). With respect to funding education, each state or territory government funds and regulates the public and private schools within their governing area while the federal government helps fund the public universities (Elcom 2013; King 2001, p. 190). The universities are predominantly owned by the government and relay on government subsidy as their main source of income to run their everyday business. Universities argue that the reduction in funding tertiary education would bring a crisis in higher education system (King 2001, p. 191). On the other hand, government of all political persuasions seems to accept university funding as a trivial government agenda. • 44. Primary Educational Disparities And Education There are several primary educational disparities that arise when race and income are considered. These gaps are due to the notion that the majority of minorities live in low–income areas that have underfunded public schools. Schools in impoverished areas tend to have fewer educational resources such as supplies, funding, amenities, and college preparatory classes. However, "students living in poverty require more intensive resources..., and many schools in poor neighborhoods lack the...resources to break the nexus between student background characteristics and student achievement" (Nielsen, 2013). Since race has already been found to be a significant factor in college readiness, poor racial minorities face a more complex disadvantage than their higher income or white counterparts. Concentrated poverty further prevents minorities from rising in economic status. With such a large population of minority children attending underfunded schools, they are learning in environment that hinders their ability to complete higher education. Additionally, students who live in low–income areas typically attend schools with higher poverty rates; thus, those students are not as equally prepared for college. • 46. The Effects Of Class Size On Primary School Education Effects of Class Size on Primary School Education Primary school class sizes should be reduced to increase the number of students who achieve consistent academic success, as well as teachers' abilities to sufficiently teach students. Teachers will also have to adjust their teaching methods to accommodate a smaller class. Most parents when asked if they believe that class sizes matter will tell you yes, they certainly do. Researches show that cutting class sizes has proven to only be effective in primary school (Blatchford et al., n.d.). As the grades go up, the results go down. Secondary schools do not show much results when researchers experiment with class sizes, no matter the area. A student's ability is often determined by how well a teacher educates them on a subject. Research conducted by Diane Whitmore Schanzenbach says that teachers should be able to change their pedagogy, or teaching methods, to be more efficient in teaching depending on class size (Schanzenbach, 2014). Teachers would have to teach and act in a different manner depending on class size because there would be less students to worry about. The idea that teachers have to change their pedagogy based on the size of a class is very popular, even among teachers (Woods, 2015). A great amount of the teacher population agrees that reducing class sizes would make teaching easier. It would also mean less grading. P. Beghin wrote in Recent Trends in Primary Education Policy in Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, "primary education is no longer regarded as a mere preparation to secondary and higher education. Primary school is, in the view of the Syllabus, a terminal education for a part of the pupils, which at present is actually the majority of them." Whilst this assignment will provide an overview of the subject in primary schools at present, it will also go on to investigate into the issue of teaching on a practical basis and also look at how physical education can develop a child. Using the information gathered from primary and secondary research, which was conducted whilst attending a primary school as a six week work placement, the latter stages will provide some critique and offer some recommendations to how physical education can be improved or ... They involve the generation of data that helps to define the community, the trends, stability, and changes that all serve to define the health of the community (Stanhope, 2012, p. 409–410). I choose to use the Pilgrim Park neighborhood for my windshield Survey which I conducted on November 1st, 2017 around 11 o 'clock am. Housing: The suburban neighborhood Pilgrim Park geographical boundaries extend from Warwick Avenue, Post Road, and Airport Road located in Warwick, RI. • 63. Free Primary Education in Kenya Introduction Since independence in, Kenya has had its share of the struggle to make it possible for its population attains education for all. This was out of the realization that education of the population would help fight ills that faced the society, among them included; poverty, ignorance, and disease. In fact, the government treated education as a basic right for every Kenyan child. Education has ever since been regarded as a fundamental factor for human capital development. In response to this urge, government developed policy documents that sort to expand access to education for its citizens. It is internationally recognized that everyone has a right to education, as agreed upon at various international conferences. Kenya tried to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Any additional charges were to be approved by the government through the ministry of education. The complexity of the problem is heightened by the use of the word 'free'. Free as a term in English means to be able to act at will, not hampered; not under compulsion or restraint to do something. It also means costing nothing. The term has other numerous meanings that differ under given circumstances or contexts. We may therefore even wonder whether education can be free or not. Is it possible to resist education incase one is not interested in taking it freely? If free is taken to mean what is supposed to mean in this context, how free is free? This term, therefore, may be ambiguous and is subject to misrepresentations and hence prone to misinterpretations. This is most likely to occur if little effort is made to clarify the meaning of the usage. Clarity is one of the most important elements of any policy so as to avoid multiple interpretations. Community participation The third concern here is the need to understand how the stakeholders in the education understood the policy. The policy was formulated without consulting those who are closely concerned with practice of education and those are teachers and parents. This resulted in the lack of clear guidelines for the implementation of free education as a government policy. The teachers were not adequately prepared to manage the influx of pupils of all ages. Little effort was made to in–service teachers and carry out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 65. The Impact that Physical Education Can Have on Encouraging... One of the definitions of Physical Education is; 'regular instruction in physical exercise and games in schools and other institutions' (Oxford English Dictionary). It is compulsory in the UK for every child up to the age of 16. Physical Education has been adapted immensely to fit the needs of young people and is still continuing to change. There are an increasing number of young people leading sedentary lifestyles by watching television instead of doing physical activity (British Heart Foundation, 2012). In this essay, ideas have been challenged and there is a distinct argument about the impact that PE can have on encouraging young people to engage in physical activity. Physical Education teaches life skills which can be adopted to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From 1992 until 2008, the different forms of the National Curriculum for Physical Education have been focused around the notion of Sport and Performance. There was a strong emphasis on competition and finding elite performers which may not be an ideal approach. Many children dislike the competitive element of sport and would rather take part for personal or social reasons. This wouldn't encourage young people to sustain physical activity levels as they may not want to compete and have only seen physical activity in a competitive light. In 2008, the new National Curriculum was launched and its priority was given to health and physical activity rather than sport. This reduced the amount of competitive elements and made it more about taking part. Some would say that the 4th NCPE was seen as successful as in 2007, 17% of boys and 16% of girls aged 2–15 were classified as obese and this decreased as in 2009, 16% of boys and 15% of girls aged 2–15 were seen as obese (Statistics on Obesity, Physical Activity and Diet – England, 2009 and 2011). This slight decrease could be down to the change in the type of activities offered in school although it may not be the only factor. Giving young people the opportunity to set personal goals rather than basing everything around competition would promote life–long participation in physical activity as they will get a sense of achievement from completing that specific goal. • 67. The National Curriculum For Primary Education Why does England have a National Curriculum for primary education? To what extent does the National Curriculum 2014 for English, mathematics or science reflect current theories of teaching and learning? The National Curriculum prescribes what should be taught in both primary and secondary state schools and is set out by the Department of Education. It and when. Additionally, it intended to improve the coherence within the curriculum and provide objectives for attainment at different stages of school (DES, 1987). Subsequently, the National Curriculum for England was introduced in1989. Its intention was to standardise the content taught across schools and to raise standards so that England could compete with other countries academically (Kelly, 1994). Since the inception of the National Curriculum there have been several initiatives to change the content, format and guidance within it. In 1998, the National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies, aimed at primary education, were launched by the Labour Government (House of Commons, 2009). They were introduced to help teachers set "appropriately high expectations" and increase the percentage of children receiving a level 4 by the time they left primary school (The National Numeracy Strategy, 1998). In 1993 and 1999 there were major reviews of the NC resulting in the reduction of prescribed content (Roberts, 2014). Additionally, The Independent Review of the Primary Curriculum by Jim Rose was published in 2009, which led the way for the changes being introduced to the new NC in 2013 (Rose, 2009). Performance has been a major incentive behind reviewing the NC at various stages. In the document, Reform of the National Curriculum in England (2013) it states: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Children usually attend primary school from the ages of 4 to 12 years old. The underlying basis for the inclusion of foundation subjects within early years and primary education might not be immediately apparent, particularly for first year students studying towards qualified teacher status. This essay will, therefore, unfold the reasons for this inclusion whilst including specific reference to the enclosure of history teaching. The National Curriculum (NC), introduced in 1988 and currently undergoing revision, consists of the core subjects: English, mathematics and science; compulsory at all key stages, and the foundation subjects: art, design technology (DT), geography, history, information and communication technology (ICT), modern foreign languages (MFL), music, personal, social and health education (PSHE) ... Stories such as 'When Grandma Was Young' (Humphrey, 2000), 'Elmer and Grandpa Eldo' (Mckee, 2001) and 'My Granny is a Pirate' (Mcdermid and Robins, 2012) can invoke interest with early years children and inspire them to become inquisitive about the past. It has been suggested that time means nothing to young children. However learning to ask and answer questions through story reading will enhance their concept history. Therefore continuing to do so through the Early Learning Goals will prepare children, entering at primary level, to appreciate the importance of history (Lunn and Bishop, 2004). It is important to remember to children do not stop learning history when they finish their time at primary school. Maintained secondary schools follow the NC which maintains that all children will continue to learn history by means of the KS3 History Programmes of Study (2013). Therefore it is important to prepare children for more challenging and precise history learning. New topics shall be introduced so it is important children have the skills to 'identify significant events, make connections, draw contrasts, and analyse trends' (p.72). It is, furthermore, defined that pupils will 'pursue historically valid enquiries including some they have framed themselves' (p.72). Introduction The following paper is oriented to explore why the divergence of a similarly sustained economic development of the Dominican Republic (D.R.) and Haiti. The fact that both countries share the same territory, but their economic development in recent days differ from one another make this topic is highly important, since it can bring deeper insight about the different causes that can affect the economic development of a country. First, we will take a look at economic development or economic growth. Then, we will observe how education or the lack of such might affect such growth. Education as a factor will be evaluated as a possible cause for the differences in economic development between the two nations. It is important to point out the existence of other factors that might affect economic development, but many literatures have suggested that the aforementioned factor is one of much importance. It is also important to mention that, the research method to be used in this paper will consist of empirical background research, and would be done through comparison, analysis, and evaluation of information collected from the work presented by previous authors, and important sources such as The World Bank. • 79. The State Of Quality Of Primary Education The State of Quality of Primary Education in India The key concern about education, in any formal educational system, of all time, has been its quality. Every stake holder, direct or indirect, of education is concerned about its quality. Guardians or parents, irrespective of their socio–economic status, want to educate their children with best quality education which would add better value to the degrees their wards acquire subject to the budget constraints. But what do we mean by 'quality education? How this quality is being assessed? What is the status of the quality of education in India? This paper seeks to focus on these issues with respect to the quality of primary education in India. There is no universally accepted definition for 'quality of education'. In education, perception of quality is around students (Mukhopadhyay, 2001). The performance of the students like examination results, learning achievements, ability to apply learned knowledge in practical life–– exhibit the quality of an education. For some, "Quality of education" means value addition in education (Feigenbaum 1951); excellence in education (Peters and Waterman 1982); for others, fitness of education outcomes and experience for use (Juran and Gryna 1988). For a society, "excellence" and "value" are most appropriate indicators for quality education. Cameron Fearn Ms. Tenney Global Issues 10 December 2015 Achieving Universal Primary Education Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat, foundress of the Society of the Sacred Heart, once said, "With the pupils... show them that you want to help them acquire a solid and pious education, enhanced by learning, and thus make them happy" (Barat). Barat made it evident that there is a huge impact as a result of education. This impact can be personal in the way that Barat described it as education making people happy to an impact on a society as a whole. It is commonly known that an education allows for a person to improve their life, their social class, and their job. Education also allows for societies to improve and advance. Education and societal advancements are directly related. It is obvious, especially to people who have benefitted from schooling, that an education is absolutely fundamental to a person's and a society's successes. Across the world, there are people who may have access to a proper education, but they do not have the proper supplies and tools that they need to benefit from that education. While there have been great strides in reforming education and the lack thereof across the world, much more needs to be done, whether it be in Sub–Saharan Africa or St. Louis, MO, to fully achieve universal primary education. Globally, the United Nations and its partner countries are working to achieve universal primary education, goal two of the Millennium Development Goals. The U.N. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
