In a small Mountain Monastery nestled among ancient Pines
and cascading waterfalls there lived a diligent student named
Sora. Sora was known for his insatiable thirst for knowledge
but he often found it challenging to concentrate on his studies
no matter how hard he tried. His mind wandered like a restless
butterfly fluttering from one thought to another.
在一座坐落在古松和瀑布之间的小山寺里,住着一位勤奋的学生,名叫索
拉。 索拉以对知识永不满足的渴望而闻名,但他经常发现无论他多么努

One day Sora approached his wise Zen Master Hiroshi seeking
guidance on how to find deep focus amidst the distractions.
Hiroshi, a venerable teacher with eyes that held the wisdom of
the ages understood Sora's struggle.
“Dear Sora,” Hiroshi said his voice gentle like the breeze, “I will
share with you, a story that holds the key to concentration.”
有一天,Sora 向他睿智的禅师 Hiroshi 寻求指导,寻求如何在干扰中找到
深度专注的指导。 广志是一位德高望重的老师,他的眼睛里蕴藏着历代

Curious, Sora sat at his master's feet ready to absorb the teachings.
“ Long ago in a distant village there was a young water bearer named
Ryu. It was his duty to fetch water from a nearby mountain stream and
carry it back to the village every day.
One morning while Ryu made his way to the stream with two large
buckets hanging from a pole across his shoulders, he noticed
something peculiar.”
出于好奇,空坐在他师父的脚边,准备吸收教义。很久以前,在一个遥远
的村庄里,有一个年轻的挑水工,名叫柳。 他的职责是每天从附近的山涧

Sora listened intently, his mind focused on Hiroshi's words.
“Ryu saw a butterfly flitting from flower to flower, its wings painted
with vibrant hues. Entranced by its beauty, Ryu's attention shifted and
he became absorbed in watching the butterfly's graceful dance.”
Sora could almost visualize the scene - the water bearer and the
butterfly connecting in a fleeting moment.
空全神贯注地听着浩的话。 “Ryu 看到一只蝴蝶从一朵花飞到另一朵花,
它的翅膀涂满了鲜艳的色彩。 被它的美丽所吸引,Ryu 的注意力转移了,

“Lost in the butterfly's flight, Ryu stumbled on a rock jolting him back
to reality. The buckets rattled and some water spilled onto the ground.
Ryu realized he had lost precious water, the life-giving essence that
sustained the village.”
Sora understood the significance of the story.
“Master Ryu’s distraction caused him to lose his focus and waste the
water but how does this relate to my studies?” Sora asked the master.
“在蝴蝶的飞行中迷失了方向,Ryu 被一块岩石绊倒,把他拉回了现实。 水
桶发出嘎嘎声,一些水洒到了地上。 柳意识到他失去了宝贵的水,这是维

Hiroshi smiled acknowledging Sora's insight.
“Sora, just as Ryu lost his precious water, your wandering mind can
cause you to lose the essence of your studies, the knowledge,
understanding and growth that await you.”
Sora pondered on his master's words, understanding the profound
truth within them.
浩微笑着承认空的洞察力。“Sora,就像Ryu失去了他宝贵的水一样,你

“But fear not my student,” Hiroshi continued, his voice reassuring.
“To find deep concentration you must become aware of the butterfly
within your mind. Notice its flight, its colors and its allure but do not
allow it to distract you from the task at hand.”
Sora realized that the butterfly represented his thoughts floating from
one idea to another tempting him away from his studies.
“但是不要害怕我的学生,”弘继续用他的声音安慰道。 “为了找到深度专

“Instead of resisting the butterfly's presence, gently acknowledge it,”
Hiroshi advised.
“Allow it to be but do not attach to it. Bring your attention back to the
stream of knowledge, the pure flow of understanding. Like Ryu, carry
the water of wisdom back to the village of your mind.”
Sora felt a newfound sense of clarity and purpose. He realized that
concentration was not a battle against his thoughts but a harmonious
dance with them.
“与其抗拒蝴蝶的存在,不如温柔地承认它,”浩建议道。“允许它存在,但
不要执着于它。 把你的注意力带回知识流,纯粹的理解流。 像Ryu一

From that day forward, Sora embraced the teachings of Hiroshi. He
practiced mindfulness, observing the butterfly of his thoughts with a
gentle curiosity yet always returning to the stream of knowledge
before him.
With each passing day, his concentration deepened and his studies
flourished.
Years later, Sora became a respected scholar renowned for his
unwavering focus and profound understanding.
从那天起,空接受了浩的教诲。 他练习正念,以温和的好奇心观察思想的
蝴蝶,但始终回到面前的知识流。日复一日,他的专注力日益加深,学业
蒸蒸日上。多年后,空成为一位受人尊敬的学者,以其坚定不移的专注和

Yet he humbly acknowledged that his path to concentration began
with the story of Ryu and the Butterfly and so the wisdom of the Water
Bearer and the Butterfly lived on inspiring generations of students to
approach their studies with a balanced mind allowing thoughts to
flutter by like butterflies while carrying the precious water of
knowledge with unwavering dedication.
但他谦虚地承认,他的专注之路是从龙和蝴蝶的故事开始的,因此,水瓶

Training the mind to be mindful
and focused is important in
meditation and also
in our ordinary living.

wanders all over. Always bring it
back to be at whatever
