2. E yelash care and enhancement is a fast growing
segment of the beauty industry. In fact, in 2009,
Women’s Wear Daily reported that lash extensions were
the only segment of the beauty industry that showed
growth that year. Even in the midst of a deep recession,
eyelashes have become a billion dollar industry.
Currently, lash extensions offer beauty professionals
the highest margin of profit of any service in the
industry. Large margins are made possible by the fact
that eyelash extension services average around $250
per full set, and the cost of the supplies is only a few
dollars for the professional.
Almost all 50 states require a license to do lash
extensions, however none of the states train
or test graduating professionals on how to
perform the procedure safely or effectively.
The application procedure is delicate, highly detailed
and requires significant skill and experience. It can not
be learned in one or two days, just as it is not possible to
teach a student to cut hair in one or two days.

4. T he Academy focuses on preparing beauty
school instructors to teach eyelash extension

techniques to their students. Graduates of the
Academy will become Certified Master Instructors.
Instructors are taught all practical and theoretical
material and are given lesson plans, textbooks,
sample test questions, scoring sheets and exams.

The Academy is located at NovaLash’s

Headquarters in the heart of Houston’s Museum
District, and just minutes from the largest medical
center in the World. Our aim is to provide a
program that teaches both the art of and the
science behind the creation of lash extensions.
The International Academy of Eyelash Arts and
Sciences offers attendees various accommodation

are available free of charge at
the Lash Lab to enrollees of the
academy. The Lash Lab suite
includes a living room, Jacuzzi
tub and shower, kitchen, laundry
room, satellite television, and two
queen-sized beds. Students can
live “on campus” in the Lash Lab
at no additional charge for up to 7
consecutive days.

Classes are offered on an ongoing basis during the
week and on weekends as well. We like to keep
the student to teacher ratio low, so it is wise to plan
at least 2-3 months in advance when scheduling
your visit. From time to time, we can accommodate
last-minute students, however, the on-campus living
quarters at the Lash Lab fill up quickly, so it is wise
to book in advance.
WHEN
Enrollees are invited to stay at the Academy for 5-7
days of training. Tuition costs are the same for both
5 and 7 days. We allow two extra days of supervised
practice at no extra charge if the student desires to
spend a little more time practicing and observing.

12. P art of receiving
a good education is
being immersed in the actual
environment in which your future
students will be working. As part of our program,
the Academy takes its attendees out of the class-
room and into the field to see a real, live, lash-only
salon in operation.
Lash salons are beginning to pop up all around the
country and in the rest of the world, just as nail-only
salons became popular in the 80s.
Enrollees will be given the opportunity to spend a
day observing the day-to-day operations of one of
the most prolific and proficient lash salons in the
world. The Lash Company is a 1,500 sq. ft. lash-only
salon owned by Master Trainer, Sophia Navarro
and NovaLash President, Sophy Merszei. The
operation began as NovaLash’s test kitchen for new
products and techniques, but grew in time to build a
clientele of over 3,000 regular customers and more
than 15,000 lash extension applications to date.
The flagship location is in Houston, with 3 additional
