Reflection Of Shadow Casting
The Holter Museum, in Helena, MT, is currently displaying a series of work by John Saurer. Saurer
received his BA at Hope College in sculpture and drawing, he continued to earn his MFA at
Colorado State University in sculpture, and has been teaching art at St. Olaf College since 1995
(Saurer). His current exhibit is called Across Tender Land and was inspired by Saurer's surroundings
while growing up (Shadow Casting). On piece, in particular, caught my eye. His Shadow Casting
sculpture is around 75 pieces of welded steel and charred wood composed into different shapes
mounted on a wall. When I first saw this piece, I found it interesting, but as I got closer, sensored
lights came on and caused each piece to cast a shadow on the wall behind the sculpture. This piece
of art reminded me the incense burner that has been discussed in our book (Stokstad, 4–13). I was
reminded of the incense burner that was found in Prince Liu Sheng's tomb in China. Each piece was
created to be viewed with the help of an other medium; smoke and light. Shadow Casting becomes
much more aesthetically pleasing when the light casts the shadow, just as the incense burner
becomes more aesthetically pleasing when it is viewed with smoke swirling around the mountain
peaks. As I was looking at Shadow Casting, the first piece of art that came to mind was the incense
burner because of the special way each is viewed. As I continued to think about both pieces I
released they were, by majority, different, but

Debt Relief for African Countries
Over the past few decades Africa's overall economic performance has been in decline especially in
the 1980s. There has been little prospect for the future of most of these developing countries,
however during recent years there has been a degree of optimism considering the development
performance of the economy as well as providing a better long term future. The crisis emerged in
1982 with their debt rising above $140 billion to over $270 billion in 1990 (World Bank, 2013).
There has been stagnation regarding the growth of their economies but despite periods of success
Africa has been unable to unleash its full potential. In order to fully understand the effects of the
debt crisis further examination into the background and causes of the crisis is needed, with attention
to specific countries. The effect of the debt on the development of the region has to be discussed in
detail in order to understand the difficulties most of these countries face with repaying their debts
and promoting continuous economic growth. By highlighting the degree of optimism which has
been evident in recent years for developing countries to progress, we can argue that there is a future
for most of these countries when they look past the obstacle that debt presents. Especially in the 21st
century where Africa is seen as one of the leading economies. This raises the possibility that despite
huge overall debt stocks, that Africa may rise on the world economic platform and over take a few

Case Study Analysis – “Aid, Debt Relief, and Trade: an...
Harvard Business School's Case Study "Aid, Debt Relief, and Trade: An agenda for fighting World
Poverty" outlines the steps, and missteps, that the world community has taken since World War II to
address the efficacy of international assistance. The study focuses on international financial
institutions (IFIs) and their ability to help poor nations break out of poverty and the possible
obligations of rich, developed countries to assist the heavily indebted poor countries (HIPCs).
Additionally, the study seeks to see if this assistance has been and can be parlayed into growth and
investment for the HIPCs. The Bretton Woods Conference in 1944 spawned two IFIs, the
International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, in order to rebuild a ... Show more content

During this time period the IMF took on a new role of lending to countries on the brink of default.
By the mid 1980s, some observers noted that the loan qualifying austerity policies implemented by
many borrowers were prolonging and deepening the debtor nations' problems.
During the 1980s, the Baker and Brady Plans were initiated to alleviate developing countries debts.
The former plan called upon financial institutions to increase lending to developing countries by up
to 50% and the latter plan sought to annul debt through collaboration with private–sector lenders.
Developing countries' debt problems became known as debt overhang whereby the "presence of
existing 'inherited' debt" exacerbated the debtor countries' economic hardships. While the Baker
Plan was largely ineffective, the Brady Plan helped revive the Third World debt market and the
composition of capital flows in the Brady countries shifted away from the public sector to the
private sector in the form of foreign direct investment (FDI) and equity. During the 1990s, foreign
aid declined largely due to three events: the end of the Cold War, the fiscal problems of the
Organization for Economic Co–operation and Development (OECD) countries and growth in
private–capital flows to developing countries. In addition, many anti–poverty advocates quixotically
believed that by forcing creditors to accept loses, debt relief would remove the uncertainty
associated with debt issues to

Art Historians And Enthusiasts Alike
Egyptian artifacts captivate the attention of art historians and enthusiasts alike. The unknown artifact
shown in Fig. 1. is one of these Egyptian pieces and dates back to the Old Kingdom sometime
between 2500–2200 BCE.
The artifact is a sculpture of two people standing beside each other. It is monolithic and carved in
high relief so it is meant to be viewed from the front because the figures were carved attached to the
rectangular slab of stone behind them.
The figure on the left is a man. The organic forms of his musculature creates an implied line as light
hits the sculpture and creates contrast between his muscles. This is particularly evident on his chest
where the form of the pectorals and the indentations of abdominal muscles are defined. His only
garment resembles a kilt with a belt and a curved pleat over the left half of it. The figure beside him
is a woman because of her softer, more feminine hourglass figure. Though the man and her are
proportionally similar, she is only as tall as his shoulders. She wears a garment with an ankle length
skirt of a light fabric due to her knees and abdomen being defined with softer curved forms as
opposed to the male's more pronounced bone structure unclothed.
The woman and man are embracing each other creating unity in the composition of the sculpture.
The man's left arm is draped over the woman's back as his hand rests over her left breast while his
right arm is down parallel to his side and his hand is in a fist. The woman's

Art Analysis: Dying Warrior
The work I chose to conduct a formal analysis on is named Dying Warrior the artist is unknown
since it was made between c. 490–480 or 470 BCE. The sculpture is made from marble and is 1.83
meters long. The statue was found in the left corner of the east pediment of the temple of Aphaia,
Aegina. the statute appears to be anatomically correct which leads me to believe that the creator had
a understand of the body and how it works. I believe that the subject of this sculpture is to tell a
story of the death of a warrior and how he appears before death claims him. The statue is pure white
and is lying on its side clutching a shield. I hope to analysis this sculpture to gain a deeper insight on
the culture that it came from and why they may have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He wears a traditional greek helmet and has beard that covers his chin and neck. The statues origins
are from Greece which explains the shield and helmet of this design. The sculpture also has rich
detail throughout the entire body especially the face. The muscles are defined and the genitalia is
visible the face is also surprising detailed with a very well–defined eyes, mouth, and nose. The
creator of these piece must have had a keen eye for anatomy because the details put into the muscles
is very amazing. This sculpture has a very somber tone to it when you look at it you see a
completely naked man lying on his side with only a helmet and shield. Once you read the title
though you then realize that this is a warrior and he is dying. The greek culture was very famous for
their stories and myths so it is not to hard to believe that this statue was made to tell a story. When
you look closely at the details you see that the statues hand is closed into a fist which appears as if
he is in pain and is fighting it back also the way his body is laying gives us a hint towards pain and

Votive Statue Of Gudea Essay
The Depiction of Divine Power in Votive Statue of Gudea
Votive Statue of Gudea, is one of a series of votive figures commissioned by the Sumerian ruler
Gudea, circa the year 2090 BCE . It was found in the modern city of Telloh, Iraq, formerly called
Girsu, the capital city of the ancient Sumerian city–state of Lagash . The statue is carved from
diorite, a hard, dark–colored stone that must have been imported to the city from other parts of the
region . The votive statue is relatively small in size, measuring only two and a half feet in height . In
the sculpture, Gudea stares directly at the viewer with large, pupil–less eyes. His neck is nearly
nonexistent, and his broad shoulders and long, well–defined arms are disproportionate to the statue's
comparably short torso and legs. In the artwork, Gudea is dressed in a long, smooth robe covered in
cuneiform writing. A top his head, Gudea wears a large stylized fleece hat and he holds a jug
spouting water in two streams firmly in his hands. In Votive Statue of Gudea, the artist attempts to
portray Gudea's divine right to rule though his use of material, opulent dress, and idealized features.

The task would have been particularly challenging with the tools of the period in which it was
created. Furthermore, the stone itself was not locally available and had to be imported from other
areas. This project would have required well–trained artisans and likely took a sizeable amount of
time to complete. It is also important to note that this figure is only one of twenty. This all would
have necessitated the commissioner of the piece have access to a vast amount of material wealth.
The opulence of this statue, apparent from its medium, clearly indicates the wealth of Gudea to the

Debt Relief Initiatives in Poor Countries
Debt Relief initiative
Many governmental and non–governmental organizations argued that external constraint like high
inherited levels of foreign debt have crippled in the capacity of low income countries to overcome
poverty and that concessional lending's are not enough. This lead to the 'Enhanced Heavily Indebted
Poor Country (HIPC)' initiative in 1996 in collaboration with world bank to eliminate unsustainable
debt in the world's poorest and most heavily indebted countries.
A summit meeting in 1999 expanded the spectrum of eligible countries for debt relief with higher
and faster reliefs. This came to be known as Enhanced HIPC Initiative.
The aim of Enhanced HIPC initiative was to achieve a level of indebtedness that would enable the
country to service its debt in a sustainable manner. The program compares the actual level of
indebtedness and debt–servicing burden to a constant theoretical sustainable level which is
predetermined by the large industrial countries to which these debt are owed. Currently, the
maximum net present value of sustainable debt–to–exports is 150 percent (of traditional 200%–
250%) or debt–to–fiscal revenue is 250 percent (of traditional 280%). The enable countries qualify
for debt relief in two stages:
In the first stage:
The debtor's country has to create a satisfactory track record in an IMF or IDA program and
demonstrate the capacity to use IMF assistance prudently. Once the country is considered eligible,
the data is processed.

The American Painting And Sculptors Exhibition From The El...
Biography The piece that was chosen was a cast bronze sculptor called "Mantime" in the American
Painting and Sculptors exhibition from the El Paso Art Museum. This piece was created by Harry
Geffert in 1995. Geffert is an American sculptor who was born in Live Oak County, Texas in 1934.
As of today he lives and works at Crowely, Texas. Geffert has a Master degree from New Mexico
Highlands University, Las Vegas, New Mexico and a Bachelor's degree in South West Texas State
University in San Marcos, Texas. Harry Geffert is mostly known for his sculptors; and continues to
create them as of today. (Worley, 2011) Perspective The Mantime is captivating and interesting to
view. The whole sculptor is made of bronze; which I find very impressive that one can add much
details to the work. The sculptor is large in size. But the idea that Geffert try to demonstrate is far
beyond my comprehension. For one, this is the first time which I heard of Geffert and see his work.
Yet, the idea I take a way from this sculptor is based on the small figures presented. The orbs, come
in different sizes 2 small and 1 large size; these orbs may represent as Mother Nature. Then come
along the complimentary features of nature itself. The trees, flowers and plants, along with the
multiple little people figurines around the environment. I would assume based on the so called
planet and the little people; I would guess that Geffert's artwork may represent domination or
conquer around the globe. Granted the

Influenced By Marxism And Imperialism
Influenced by Marxism and imperialism, Dependency writers sought to explain the high inequities
in the world economic system in terms of its distribution of power and resources and places most
nations in a dependent position in relation to the industrial powers. Dependency scholars basically
believe that less–developed countries will be unable to develop because the rich world uses them as
the equivalent of colonies. The major contention here is that the developing countries of the Global
South are hindered in their developmental efforts by their association (economic) with the
industrialized countries of the Global North.
Prominent scholars here include: Paul Baran and Paul Sweezy (Monopoly Capitalism, 1957/1960;

Free trade with minimal state intervention is the key tenet of neoliberal ideas driving most
international organizations. In the contemporary world characterized by open markets, US
hegemony, international organizations, regional cooperations and large inflows of foreign aids and
technologies in economically less developed states, national governments are increasingly
constrained in formulating and implementing policies that are deemed appropriate for their citizens.
I discuss below major developmental challenges in Africa (by extension other poor countries) which
have roots in contemporary imperial relations with the West. These include: debt burdens, structural
adjustment programmes, operations of multinational corporations and external aid.
Debt Burden
One of the greatest threats to development in most African countries is the huge debt stock and the
cost of servicing it. Large–scale borrowing in the 60s and 70s (in a bid to ensure welfare of the
citizens after colonialism) coupled with events in the world economy such as rising oil prices, rising
interest rates, falling commodity prices and global recession led to the Debt crisis of the early 80s
which left many poor countries with huge cost of servicing debts which still lingers today. Even
with the debt relief initiative of the World Bank and IMF about two

Freedom Debt Relief Case Study
With debt consolidation companies storming onto the scene in the last decade, people are asking an
essential question. They want to know whether these services are legitimate and whether they
represent a real solution to financial problems. Though not all consolidators are created equally,
Freedom Debt Relief would seem to be a company that provides individuals with legitimate access
to a practical solution. The problem for most people who run into debt is that it can be
overwhelming. Freedom Debt Relief makes debt more manageable and this is a huge first step.
Consolidating for a better rate
The first reason why Freedom Debt Relief is not a rip–off has to do with its potential for rate
reduction. Ask anyone who has been in debt and they

Glorification In Death Essay
Glorification in Death
The two pieces of art Standard of Ur (c. 2600 B.C.E.) and Sarcophagus of Junius Bassus (c. 359
C.E.), both by unknown artists, were ceremonious pieces in their time, and captivating works of art
in ours. While the artists are unknown, their work is indicative of the time period in which they
lived. Religious imagery and depiction of stories were subjects many artists pursued, especially in
the death of their leaders. The sarcophagus was made for a member of the senatorial family, Junius
Bassus, this amazing sculpted sarcophagus depicts multiple religious scenes and imagery. The

The Standard of Ur is a small trapezoidal box whose two sides and end panels are covered with
figurative and geometric mosaics found in the grave of King Ur–Pabilsag. The mosaics on the
Standard depict life in early Mesopotamia, one side dubbed the "War Side" and the other the "Peace
Side," tell stories that read from the bottom to top of the Standard (The Standard of Ur. n.d.). The
top register of mosaics on each side depicts a king, who is exaggerated in size to show the figure in
a larger scale than others. The Standard depicts the two most significant pieces of early
Mesopotamian culture: the warriors who protected the people, secured access to water, natural
resources and the King who served as an intermediary between the people and the gods. This artifact
is part of the Early Dynastic Period which continued many earlier trends with its art marking an
emphasis on leaders, gods, and roles of the people, The Standard of Ur continues this trend with the
larger than life depiction of the King and brings to light a representation of life at the time while at

Summary Of The Indian Triumph Of Dionysus
In the Roman high relief sculpture, The Indian Triumph of Dionysus, a man takes the center of the
piece as everyone else surrounding him appear to be celebrating. Located in the Museum of Fine
arts, Houston's Audrey Jones Beck building the sculpture can be seen at a size of 34 ½ x 85 ¾ x 9 ½
in. Created between 180–195 AD it can be determined that through its use of space, movement, and
line work that times of triumph call for a celebration. From the moment the viewer observes The
Indian Triumph of Dionysus it can be noticed that open space is lacking on the 3D sculpture. What
makes this highly noticeable upon first looking is the deep cuts that are created to help the
individuals stand out. Usage of deep cutting can be referred to as high relief. Unlike low relief, high
relief purposely projects its subjects from the background. The way this can impact the spacing of
the sculpture is by making it appear it has less due to the 3D aspect standing out from the
background. Another way a lack of space can be noticed is with the overlapping of forms. On the
left side of the sculpture one of the best examples of the overlapping can be seen where captives
riding an elephant are placed in front of multiple individuals. While not proportional to the rest of
the humans on the piece those who are on the elephant the overlapping area display the intricacy of
the work that went into creating a reduced space on the stone. By having all the characters on the
sculpture overlap each other

Art Analysis : Victory Stele Of Naram-Sin
Victory Stele of Naram–Sin is a relief sculpture and was created in 2,200 B.C.E it is 6 feet high, so it
is huge. The subject only includes men, and they are dressed for battle. This particular artwork was
an illustration of Naram–Sin with his army and how his "enemies [would] fall, flee, die, or beg for
mercy" (Kleiner 41). Naram–Sin is the largest figure, about twice the size of the other figures. In
addition, he has a helmet with horns and weapons. There is a background in this relief, and it
includes a mountain with a tree and there are two stars.
Each artist was influenced by the culture and location in which they created the artwork. For
example, Nefertiti was the queen of Egypt with Akhenaton her husband. The style of this sculpture
is Egyptian because of its location. Because Neffertiti was queen, the culture changed how the artist
portrayed her. In fact, Fred Kleiner a well–known author of multiple art history articles and books
says that "The sculptor seems to have adjusted the likeness of his subject to meet the era's standard
of spiritual beauty" (76). She likely would have taken offence if the artist did not change her
appearance biased on the cultures ideal. This artwork was commissioned, which also played a role in
the influence of this piece. Not to mention that the king commissioned this piece, and obviously no
one wants to get on his bad side.
Another example of how culture influenced the artwork is with the Empress Theodora. Their culture
was Byzantine,

Compare And Contrast The Temple Of Aphaia
The Temple of Aphaia displays two dying warriors. One is located in the west pediment and the
other is located in the east pediment. Despite this, both statues have a very contrasting style. On the
west pediment, the warrior has an arrow embedded in his chest which causes him to fall with grace
in this unnatural way. The warrior is smiling and is in a modeling posture rather than a realistic one.
However, the warrior on the east pediment seems more realistic as it's seen in the appropriate
position for someone who is near death. The reason for this is because it has been said that the
pediment from the west was created 10 years earlier than the one from the east, which is why the
one built first is traditionally archaic while the other is in

Colossal Statue Of King Tutankhamen And The Lamassu
The Colossal Statue of King Tutankhamen and the Lamassu are two very remarkable pieces in the
history of artwork. The Lamassu is an enormous piece in weight as well as height. The Colossal
Statue of King Tutankhamen is also an enormous piece, but instead, the height is the only thing that
sets it apart from the Statue of King Tutankhamen. The height of both pieces is very intimidating
because they are both taller in relation to people. With both pieces being this tall, the viewer is able
to interact with the pieces more than the smaller ones. The statues are both reliefs, but the Colossal
Statue of King Tutankhamen is around relief. This statue allows the viewers to walk around the
statue and get a clear idea of what the artist was trying to express with this piece. The Lamassu is
also a relief sculpture, but instead, the viewer is unable to fully walk around the relief. This artwork
can only be seen from the very front as well as the side, this was how the artist intended to express
the artwork.
The artwork is similar as well as very different in many ways. The styles of birth of the pieces are
extremely different and this is very noticeable. The Colossal statue of King Tutankhamen looks very
Egyptian based on the way the statue is designed many of the facial features resemble the Egyptian
culture. The Lamassu statue resembles more of an Assyrian style based on the facial features. The
structures of both pieces are basically different from one another. The statue of

Relief sculpture appeared in many different cultures all throughout time. Relief sculpture can be
created and found in many different forms and each culture's relief consists of distinctive factors.
Relief sculpture is different from a more well–known form, known as freestanding sculptures,
because relief sculptures remain part of the background, however, they do project from it. Just like
freestanding sculptures, relief can be made from carving or casting from many different types of

The Warka Vase (Fig. 2–5. P.35) is the oldest known Sumerian narrative relief sculpture. The vase
was found in the Inanna temple, located in Uruk, Iraq, which is modern day Warka. It is dated 3200–
3000 BCE and currently resides in the National Museum of Iraq. The attributes of the vase include a
narrow base, that supports the tall, beige structure. The vase is large, being over 3 feet tall and is
made from the mineral Alabaster. The vase is in low relief because the subject projects slightly from
its background. The subject of this relief is a religious festival that was held to honor the goddess of
Uruk, Inanna. The vase is divided into three main registers that separate the different stories that are
depicted in the narrative relief. At the top is the largest band that inhabits a woman in a headdress,
some historians think it is Inanna, however others believe it to be a priestess. Next to the woman, on
the left, is a naked man that is depositing offerings in the goddess's shrine. To the right of the woman
a clothed male figure is shown, which art historians believe to be the priest–king. These characters
shown together symbolize the importance of their role to the Mesopotamian society and appear to
represent marriage occurring between the two of them. The middle banner includes naked men that
are circling the vase while holding overflowing baskets of votive offerings to Inanna. Like the man

Baste Baet Research Paper
Bastet (also known as Baast, Bast, or Baset) is the Egyptian goddess of cats, fire, the moon,
pregnancy, and homes. However, today she is generally thought of as a cat goddess. Like most
Egyptian gods, Bastet had two natures: fierce and affectionate. Bast was seen as a protective
goddess, because of the way cats protected households and crops from vermin. However, she was
also regarded as a fierce fighter, and it was said that the pharaohs would ask her to protect them in
battle. Also, there is a legend that says she is an "Eye of Ra", meaning she was a fierce protector but
she tried to destroy all mankind and had to be put to sleep with blood colored beer. Cats were highly
revered in ancient Egypt, and so was Bastet, being one of the most popular and highly worshipped
goddesses in Egypt. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were many cat and lion gods in ancient Egypt, but Bast was the only one associated with the
house cat. Bastet as a woman is usually shown holding an ankh and the sistrum or a papyrus wand,
with kittens surrounding her feet. The ankh is a symbol of power to give and take away life, and the
sistrum is an instrument related to Hathor, her fellow Eye of Ra. Some historians also think it relates
to the rowdiness of her festival. Bastet was worshipped all over Egypt, but her worship was centered
in lower Egypt at Bubastis at her temple. One of Bastet's great achievements in myth was that she
slayed the evil serpent god Apophis (also known as Apep). It was said that every sunrise she would
help Ra fight Apophis, until one day she killed him. Cats were thought to be very important to
Bastet, and were even considered to be living versions of her, like the pharaohs were considered to

headdress decorated with flowers, ear jewelry, bracelets around both wrists, and sandals.
Snakeheads also are shown wrapped around one of the spirit's triceps. One arm of the spirit is

feathered like wings on the back of the spirit. The work also gives subtle hints that the spirit has a
very idealized physique. His arms and his hands are rather large with wide, broad shoulders. With
exceptional use of line his calf and forearm muscles are very accentuated. The face of the spirit
looks fierce and heroic. The piece looks as if it were cut into sections, similar to a register look,

reason behind the sectioning of the piece, whether it is the original context or the relocation from the

of Proportion. Although this is not a common practice within Assyrian

Making Globalization "Work"
Globalization has been and probably will always be a problem for every nation. From poverty in the
obvious countries such as Africa and Russia to unemployment all over the world, a lot of people and
countries have been hurt financially and economically by globalization. Joseph Stiglitz, a Nobel–
prize winner and former chief–economist of World Bank, has taken into consideration all the aspects
that could make globalization a positive thing for everyone. As he states in his book Making
Globalization Work, there are six main areas that are all recognized by the international community
that need a lot of work before globalization can really, really work. Some of the problems are small,

Although some countries have not really lived up to the commitments (the United States being one
of them), they also decided that more assistance should be given in grants, not loans, since
sometimes loans do not get paid. Excessive conditionality is also a large problem when it comes to
assistance and debt relief throughout the world, the IMF and World Bank being two of the biggest
perpetrators, in which they apologized and reduced conditionality greatly in the last five years. In
addition, trade liberalization will lead to growth if done correctly. In previous years, the reason that
the trade agreements did not work was because they were very unbalanced– the advanced countries
taxed their goods that were made by developing countries that were four times higher than the goods
that were made by advanced countries. To fix this problem, in Doha, November 2001, an agreement
was made to focus on the developing countries needs, not the already developed ones.
In response to the agreement of fair trade, the policies of liberalization failed to produce the results
that were wanted and promised. The blame was forced on the developing countries in the 1990's, but
now there is more of an understanding in shared blame of the failure in trade liberalization. The

Jim Sardonis Reverence Analysis
The sculpture that caught my eye the most for this assignment is called Reverence by Jim Sardonis.
This piece of artwork is a three dimensional assemblage sculpture. It is made of pieces of granite
which is an igneous rock. It was put together piece by piece which required special tools and
equipment and also a lot of space to work. It is an 'in the round' sculpture, which means the whole
thing cannot be photographed in one photo and there are many different views of it depending on
where you are standing. This is a beautiful sculpture that has many meaning to it. It depicts two
whales' tails as they appear to be diving into a field of grass. The grass represents the ocean. First of
all, it puts the viewer in awe of one of the largest animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Sardonis made this art to show the world that we, as a whole, have a great effect on the living
creatures in this world, no matter how big or how small. We should have much more respect towards
animals that live in our oceans. The whales' tails in the sculpture are about 12 feet long. I assume
they would look very large in person but they are nowhere near the size of a realistic whale's tail. I
think seeing the big tails in person would make people realize little things can and should be
prevented so we don't destroy the habitats and homes of underwater creatures like these huge

whales are extinct. Humans continue to pollute oceans everyday by putting our dirty, untreated

Figure 1 : Eagle–headed Apkallu Guardian Figure

ARTH 1380 – Art and Society (Prehistoric to Gothic)
Figure 2
The Eagle–headed Apkallu Guardian Figure is a low relief sculpture from 883–859 B.C. Assyria.
Made from gypsum, this sculpture measures approximately 42 1/8 inches tall, 26 inches wide and 1
½ inches thick. The sculpture is mounted on the wall of the dark, navy–blue painted Antiquities
section of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, dimly lit by the luminance of showcase lights. The
guardian figure watches over the room as visitors pass through the archway between two exhibits of

Explained in the dissertation written by Gane, the Assyrian name of the bucket is "banddudû" which
translates exactly to "bucket", and the name for the cone is "mulluli" which translates to "purifier."
The bucket is said to contain holy water, so when the purifying cone is dipped into the bucket and
then sprinkled atop the Sacred Tree, it leads to the conclusion that the apkallu figure is performing
an act of purification for the land of Ashur. However, another interpretation of these items is that the
shape of the cone also resembles that of the male flower of date palms, and is held in the right hand
of the subject which symbolizes masculinity. The bucket could be interpreted as containing pollen,
and thus when the cone is dipped into the bucket held in the feminine hand and sprinkled atop the
Sacred Tree, it leads to the conclusion that the apkallu figure is performing an act of fertilization for
the land of Ashur. Either way, the apkallu figure is performing some kind of ritual to secure the

The Sound Box Of The Great Lyre Analysis
Heroic Trials of Ancient Greece and the Near East Various pieces of art found thousands of years

Sound Box of the Great Lyre, a wooden music box (33 x 11 cm) found in present–day Iraq c. 2600–
2500 BCE, and Lapith Fighting a Centaur, a high metope relief (1.42 m) on the side of the
Parthenon in Ancient Greece c. 447–432 BCE. The former represents a bull with a low relief under
its head, depicting animals mimicking the lifestyle of humans. The latter exemplifies a nude man
struggling against a mythical creature that is half–man half–horse2. Although these works are from

The artifact functions as a music box and was a prominent instrument during the Sumerian age and
was most commonly used during funerals. In addition, since the piece of work was found in a royal
tomb, one can further assume that it played a role in ancient funeral rites or banquets13. The Epic of
Gilgamesh, explained earlier, could have also played a role in the development of this piece since it
was a large part of literature in the Sumerian age. Even though the poem was written down hundreds
of years after this plaque was created, it could be evidence for the first documentation of a long oral
tradition13. Although there is no known patron of the work, it was most likely intended to be played
and seen by an audience and give respect to the dead. In contrast, the Lapith Fighting a Centaur was
apart of the Parthenon and had been widely known for centuries; it wasn't a recent discovery. The
relief, along with the 96 others on the building, depicts a legendary war between two factions. Even
though these were mythic tales, they played a large role in Ancient Greek lives. The reliefs were
created to most–likely educate the people of Greece about their gods and to recreate their religious

Relief of a winged genius is a two–dimensional stone relief sculpture currently located on the first
floor of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, in the Ancient Near East
Gallery (Accession number: 81.56). It is an Assyrian artifact excavated from the palace walls of the
capital of ancient Nimrud, dating between 883–859 B.C. The unknown artist's deliberate use of size,
material, scale, style and content, together with the sculpture's original setting, reflects the politically
driven agenda during the reign of
Ashurnasirpal II.

After one takes in the armed and protective aura of the Winged Being, the eyes are struck by the the
very detailed workings of his hair and beard. His thick, curly and luxuriant hair suggests the kind of
hair that only the most virile of men posess. This human aspect of the winged being serves as way to
reflect the kings own power and virility. In terms of the object's anatomy, one notices the markings
that are inscribed over the area that encompasses the space directly above his left knee and below
the top of the sword in his right hand, spanning the full width of the sculpture. These markings are
actually text and is a form of writing technique called Cuneiform. The same text that is on Relief of
A Winged Genius also appears on other reliefs within the palace walls. The inscription tells of the
story of the kings lineage, his military victories, how he founded
Kalhu (present–day Nimrud, Iraq) and built his palace. These inscriptions are a perfect example of
political propaganda which purposely highlight the kings skill and accomplishments. Considering
the artist's choice of medium, form, and content, it's clear that he or she chose their elements very
carefully to convey a message of power, strength, and permanence to the intended viewer at the
time. It's clear that this artist was comissioned by Ashurnasirpal II

Essay about The Assyrian Winged Protective Deity and...
A piece of art can leave distinct impressions with the viewer. The Assyrian Winged Protective Deity
provides a plethora of stimulants for the eye. The relief emulates brute strength and power through
the overall stature of the figure. The cuneiform writing above the relief greatly influenced the
impression a viewer can receive through its narration about the figure. Other than Gilgamesh and the
Assyrian Winged Protective Deity both being from Mesopotamia, they have numerous similarities.
The Assyrian Winged Protective Deity is a very imposing figure. It measures around seven and a
half feet tall (Relief of a Winged Genius). This shows the figure's importance, even if the viewer did
not know it protected the king from harm. Originally, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strength embodies this figure, "the strong man who treads on the necks of his foes, who crushes all
of his enemies" (Relief of a Winged Genius). The strength of this king was shown through the
deity's impressive muscles on its arms and legs. Military prowess also exemplifies through the
figure holding a scepter in his hand, so he can crush his enemies in battle. This figure illustrates true
power, "whose hand has conquered all lands" (Relief of a Winged Genius). The relief's other hand
shows this, in that it is stretched out to demonstrate everything he has accomplished. This deity
acted as an agent for the gods, "the king, who with the help of the great gods" (Relief of a Winged
Genius). The wings display this aspect, because they represent a divine symbol, which was needed
to help guard the king.
Other than the influence of divine power, Gilgamesh and the king from the Assyrian Winged
Protective Deity have many similarities. The gods give their assistance to the king mentioned in the
Assyrian Winged Protective Deity, but they provide Gilgamesh with support as well. Gilgamesh
receives dreams from the god Shamash to give him strength during uncertain times, and the relief
has wings from the gods to show their influence to protect the king. Both figures represent the lives
of kings. However, the king mentioned in the relief is Assyrian, while Gilgamesh is Sumerian,

The Gold Of The Bronze Style
In China, bronze was often employed with ritual vessels, and this can be best seen with a
comparison between an eleventh century B.C.E. you vessel and a fourth century hu vessel that were
standard in this time period. These pieces were in high demand during this period from feudal
dignitaries starting during the Shang period. They served the purpose of holding wine for ritual
ceremonies. The hu especially acted as "a vessel for diluting wine with water." While the hu vessel
was popular in the Eastern Zhou territory, the you vessel was most frequently used during the early
Western Zhou territory. The you ritual wine vessel was common for its time period as it, "embodies

This was common during this period, as they represented as zoomorphic masks, where humans are
made to look like animals. Around the birds, the artist designed geometric images to fill in the space.
In order to separate the images in the background of the you, the artist incorporates bands. This
creates a symmetrical layout of the different images around the vessel, as they repeat. The animal
motifs outside of the background also repeat symmetrically, as you circle the you. While the hu
vessel was made around seven centuries later, it features similar decorations as the you vessel. The
pictorial representations also follow a band structure. Although the majority of the bands are filled
with geometric designs, one band repeats second from the top and second from the bottom and it
features birds. These birds are less naturalistic than ones featured in the you vessel, but they serve a
stylistic purpose. At this time, "the hunt is also a characteristic subject of some bronze vessels of the
late Zhou period. Often it is less pictorially handled, as on vessels with panels of rather geometric,
static hunting scenes in low–relief silhouette." Here the hunt is represented with the birds depicted
in the bands. This could have acted as a significant reference food sacrifices in rituals. An animal 's

motif to serve a practical purpose, as it holds the ring to carry the

Beauty Of A Girl With Doves
Beauty Among Death in "Gravestone of a Girl with Doves" The High Classical Greek Period is
considered to be the "Golden Age" in Greek Art according to Art Historians (Pearson). This period
from 450–400 BCE held a lot of destruction because of the wars going between the Athens and
Sparta, known as the Peloponnesian War, however, there was also a lot of beauty during this period
because sculptures and architects made art that depicted victory over wars won, such as the
Parthenon. Despite all the madness happening during this high classical period, a peaceful piece of
art was born. "Gravestone of a Girl with Doves" is a Greek marble sculpture that was found on the

Since this sculpture is a gravestone, I felt that the sculptor made this gravestone with a gradient
effect with the low/high reliefs in order to signify that the young girl was "fading away" into death.
A peplos, which is a typical garment seen on specifically women in Greek art, hangs over her
shoulders and seems to create a "dragging down" feeling to the sculpture since peplos is heavy
fabric. The peplos also accentuates her body without actually revealing much of anything, which
was appropriate considering the time period, the age of the girl depicted, and the purpose that the
sculpture served as, which is as a gravestone. There is no movement whatsoever, but there does
seem to be a subtle vertical line running through the young girl's contropossto stature.
An expression is worth a thousand words. The young girl depicted shows no emotion, which is a
typical characteristic in the classical greek style. It looks as though the girl depicted has her mind
somewhere else, which actually creates a sense of peacefulness since her expression is not one of
pain or discomfort . Unlike most Greek sculptures that are massive in size, this sculpture is smaller
because it depicts the death of a small child. According to the description besides this sculpture, the
doves that the girl is holding represent her innocence of childhood. They can also represent the kind

Human Depictions In Ancient Art
In the ancient Near East, human depictions in art varied over time and distance; as noted by the
Metropolitan Museum of Art, "The art of the ancient Near East exhibits a great variety of forms and
styles, reflecting the many peoples, cities, kingdoms, and empires that flourished in the region over
thousands of years". Early relief carvings often told stories in multiple registers, using human
figures that were much more detailed and lifelike than in prehistoric art. Statues were often placed in
Sumerian temples, such as stylized votive figures that adhered to a set of conventions; Gudea, ruler
of Lagash, later followed a similar tradition of placing votive statues of himself in temples. An
Akkadian lost wax casting, the earliest known example ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A striking departure from traditional artisitic conventions is the Amarna style popularized under
Akhenaten. Artwork created during this period abandons the strong, regal style of the past and
shows Akhenaten as an almost cartoon–like figure, with spindly limbs, a swelling belly, and a highly
stylized face. This anomalistic style persisted only as long as
Akhenaten's reign, however, and was abandoned shortly after his death (Stokstad and Cothren
72).
In the Ancient Aegean culture, the earliest examples of the human figure are found on the Cycladic
Islands. The people of these islands created marble statues ranging from a few inches to over five
feet tall. These statues were highly abstracted representations of the human form that are similar in
their simplicity and geometric form to some prehistoric art. These statues display their own set of
artistic conventions in their strict symmetry, basic forms, and proportional composition. Analysis of
these figures shows that they were decorated with

This paper is a formal analysis of the Marble grave stele with a family group relief sculpture. It is a
pentelic marble style relief standing at 171.1cm tall carved by a master. It is from the Late Classical
period of Greek, Attic which was completed around ca.360 B.C. . I chose to analyze this piece as
apposed to the others because I'm mainly attracted to art and sculptures from the Greek era. The
overall color used in this relief is ivory with a few cracks and pieces broken off. There is some
discoloration which causes the color to come off as slightly light brown for most of the relief. The
sculpture appears larger compared to the other sculptures in the art room. It represents a family

whole body because of the multiple layers draped over his lap. There are no details of his toes or
feet because of the missing piece of the relief but you're able to see just the back of his foot. His inch
long hair and full facial beard look extremely wavy and curly. The fact that his facial hair is present
and thick on his face makes me assume that he is possibly in his forties although many men back in
that time didn't live that long. He is sitting with ease and his face seems calm all the while staring
blankly ahead. Looking at his face straight on, there seems to be no emotion in his eyes. My eyes are
then shifted towards the woman on the right side of the relief. The woman seems to be his wife and
is shown standing extremely close to him. Since the chair is backless, I think her standing so close
behind him depicts her unity with him. It seems as though she is his support and is there to follow
him. She is right up against his back with her right hand up by her chest and his head. The wife and

##bolism In Michelangelo Buonarrotis Fresco Of The Libyan...
Q9–2: What is the message? For Jan de Heem means at least in part a celebration, an invitation to
share, at least visually and thus imaginatively, in its world. The feast on the table was a feast for the
eyes. How is it portrayed symbolically in the piece and the vocabulary term used for this kind of
painting. This painting is an example of Vanitas. The vanitas tradition of still life painting is
specifically designed to induce in the spectator a higher order of thought. This is a reminding the
viewer of the frivolous quality or vanity of human existence. It's a still life painting with the
enjoyment of the pleasurable things in life. The overturned goblet, the half peeled lemon, the oyster
on the half–shell, the timepiece beside it , all remind the viewer that the material is celebrated in the
painting in long lasting as the spiritual and may be greater importance than material wealth. The
artwork is of a huge meal, most that has been left uneaten. Southern fruit in a cold climate is of
luxury and the peeled lemon is untouched. Was a sign of unwanted consumption in the artwork.

The Classical Period Of Greek Art
The beautiful "Three Sided Relief", also known as the "Boston Throne", is a treasure
of the Museum of Fine Arts, as it is an original relief from the Early Classical Period of Greek
art. Though it was found in Rome, it is not a Roman copy of the relief, which makes it
incredibly unique. The Three Sided Relief was found in a private villa on via Boncampagni.
The intriguing part of this discovery was that the Three Sided Relief was found in the same
region as the Ludovisi Relief, a relief of a similar proportion, subject matter, and creation
date. The artwork, though found in Rome, is very easily identified as Greek due to the
material used (marble) and also the distinctly Greek style of the relief, containing
reference to both Ionic Greek agriculture and Attic grave reliefs. Greeks used their art
much more religiously than the Romans, who used it more for political propaganda
purposes. Artwork to the Greeks was used to honor their gods and decorate the temples
they erected to celebrate their gods.
The main face of the Three Sided Relief depicts a winged boy in the nude standing in
the center of the relief, and holding up a large balance. There are three large holes cut into
the relief, one in each wing of the boy and another in his chest. These holes were made to
receive the ends of tenons, proving that the now lost beam was made of marble, not bronze.

The Towers Of Babylon Summary
"The Towers of Babylon", by Shirley Ye, consists of 4 watercolour and acrylic paintings, as well as
2 relief sculptures. The abstract (meaning, relating to reality, however has been distorted to appear
unreal) works of the series, speak about the dangers of urbanisation, references to the biblical tower
of Babylon as well as the quote, "the higher you build, the greater you fall" (Edwin Almeida). This
artwork as a series, will be the main focus of this review.
The series mainly comprise of watercolour and acrylic paint (paintings), paper photographs, wood,
metal and human figurines (sculptures). The 4 canvas paintings all display a theme of spaced out
areas, as well as areas that are tightly packed with layered lines/dots of paint. The sculptures
however, are built to appear tall and unstable for the human figurines that are placed standing close
behind one another. In addition, the sculptures consist of "angled/protruding" photographs of city
environments and metal bird cages. Across the six artworks, the tone and colours contrast through
bright, warm tones, to cold and dark shades, possibly to convey both positive and negative aspects
of urbanisation, and the reasoning (to find better jobs, education, etc) behind urbanisation.
The artist explains the artworks are made to display the dangers of urbanisation and make references
to disasters such as the fallen towers 9/11, Rana Plaza and Grenfell Tower. Shirley does this in her

The Door Of Ni Ankh Snefru Essay

Door of Ni–ankh–Snefru ca. 2321–2278 B.C.E.
White Limestone
From the great pyramids to notable rulers, Egypt has solidified its reputation as one of the most
dominant civilizations of the Mediterranean world. Through the creation of monuments and artifacts
emerges the true beauty and richness of Egypt's history and art. The Door of Ni–ankh–Snefru
embodies the depth of social and religious implications within Egyptian culture. The door was an
important element to private tombs because it served as a passageway for the deceased soul to go
from one world to the next. Doors like this were often inscribed with offering instructions, the name,
and titles of its owner. Visitors would bring offerings to the private tomb to celebrate Ni–ankh–
Snefru, who was a wine cellar and food storage overseer at the palace and a lector priest. The
sculpture itself stands about five feet high, three feet wide, and is from the Old Kingdom during
ca.2321 BCE. It is made of white limestone which gives it a grainy texture, but has traces of paint
that give it a more even tone of an off–white or cream color. Typical of Egyptian art, the Door of
Ni–ankh–Snefru is decorated with hieroglyphics and reliefs to frame the importance of the deceased,

Debt Relief: A Review of the HIPC Initiative
The Heavily In–debt Poor Countries (HIPC) initiative was created in 1996 by the wealthy nations
through the combined efforts of the IMF and World Bank. This initiative actively seeks the
abatement of outside debt through depreciation by official donors. It was made to help the poorest of
nations though some criticize it is only offering aid to rich countries with decline in aid to truly
needy ones. The IMF or International Monetary Fund was set up as a last resort means of aiding
struggling countries. "The International Monetary Fund, based in Washington, D.C., is the global
economy's lender of last resort to countries in crisis. " (The New York Times 2012). These two
oganizations, one created by the other, can produce a lot of good in terms of providing financial
stability through working together for a common goal. There is a need for organizations like HIPC
and IMF to work together because they in tangent can develop better methods of allocating money
to poor countries by operating and communicating in a cohesive manner that makes public the
amount of money forgiven and the reasons behind the debt reduction. Since the HIPC has so many
strict guidelines to reduce, not eliminate debt from poor countries, the combined efforts of the IMF
could alleviate the debt crisis in these select countires through a simpler and faster means than only
going through one organization. IMF has been around for longer and has the capacity to raise funds,

Essay Student Loan Debt Relief
Student Loan Debt Relief
Student loan debt relief is a controversial issue in America today. Student loan debt affects twelve
million college students, roughly 60% of all college attendees, per year (Student Loan Debt
Statistics). Student loan debt relief rose to the forefront of economic news during the financial
market crash of 2008. The U.S. Government has developed a debt relief plan that extends payments
over a 25–year period, with a full forgiveness of all remaining debt at the end of that 25–year term
(Ensuring That Student Loans Are Affordable). During this repayment period, payments can be
suspended during times of unemployment, giving hardship students a break from their student loan
payments. Many people feel that student ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another negative view concerning student loan debt repayment deals with the amount of loan debt
that a borrower may accrue. With this new program in place, borrowers may feel free to borrow
higher loan amounts, knowing that they will have a 25–year period for repayment (Redd). This puts
a heavy burden on the lending institutions, as far as the debt structure is concerned, since the larger
loan debt load will be harder to maintain that smaller ones. The last critical view of student loan debt
relief deals with the lending institutions themselves. Banking institutions originally offered student
loans that were to be repaid within a 10–year period. The new student loan debt relief plan extends
this repayment period to 25 years, and this will create a hardship on the banks that were the original
lenders. Since the recovery time will be much greater for these debts, these banks will have less
available funds for future loans. Many feel that decreased lending power from the banking
institutions may cause more stress on our economy in the long run. A large part of economic
development rests in the ability of banks to keep loaning money, and if cash flow from loan
repayment slows, it can take a toll in future lending (Keeton). There are several possible resolutions

Reflection Of Shadow Casting

  • 1. Reflection Of Shadow Casting The Holter Museum, in Helena, MT, is currently displaying a series of work by John Saurer. Saurer received his BA at Hope College in sculpture and drawing, he continued to earn his MFA at Colorado State University in sculpture, and has been teaching art at St. Olaf College since 1995 (Saurer). His current exhibit is called Across Tender Land and was inspired by Saurer's surroundings while growing up (Shadow Casting). On piece, in particular, caught my eye. His Shadow Casting sculpture is around 75 pieces of welded steel and charred wood composed into different shapes mounted on a wall. When I first saw this piece, I found it interesting, but as I got closer, sensored lights came on and caused each piece to cast a shadow on the wall behind the sculpture. This piece of art reminded me the incense burner that has been discussed in our book (Stokstad, 4–13). I was reminded of the incense burner that was found in Prince Liu Sheng's tomb in China. Each piece was created to be viewed with the help of an other medium; smoke and light. Shadow Casting becomes much more aesthetically pleasing when the light casts the shadow, just as the incense burner becomes more aesthetically pleasing when it is viewed with smoke swirling around the mountain peaks. As I was looking at Shadow Casting, the first piece of art that came to mind was the incense burner because of the special way each is viewed. As I continued to think about both pieces I released they were, by majority, different, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Debt Relief for African Countries Over the past few decades Africa's overall economic performance has been in decline especially in the 1980s. There has been little prospect for the future of most of these developing countries, however during recent years there has been a degree of optimism considering the development performance of the economy as well as providing a better long term future. The crisis emerged in 1982 with their debt rising above $140 billion to over $270 billion in 1990 (World Bank, 2013). There has been stagnation regarding the growth of their economies but despite periods of success Africa has been unable to unleash its full potential. In order to fully understand the effects of the debt crisis further examination into the background and causes of the crisis is needed, with attention to specific countries. The effect of the debt on the development of the region has to be discussed in detail in order to understand the difficulties most of these countries face with repaying their debts and promoting continuous economic growth. By highlighting the degree of optimism which has been evident in recent years for developing countries to progress, we can argue that there is a future for most of these countries when they look past the obstacle that debt presents. Especially in the 21st century where Africa is seen as one of the leading economies. This raises the possibility that despite huge overall debt stocks, that Africa may rise on the world economic platform and over take a few of the world's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Case Study Analysis – “Aid, Debt Relief, and Trade: an... Harvard Business School's Case Study "Aid, Debt Relief, and Trade: An agenda for fighting World Poverty" outlines the steps, and missteps, that the world community has taken since World War II to address the efficacy of international assistance. The study focuses on international financial institutions (IFIs) and their ability to help poor nations break out of poverty and the possible obligations of rich, developed countries to assist the heavily indebted poor countries (HIPCs). Additionally, the study seeks to see if this assistance has been and can be parlayed into growth and investment for the HIPCs. The Bretton Woods Conference in 1944 spawned two IFIs, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, in order to rebuild a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this time period the IMF took on a new role of lending to countries on the brink of default. By the mid 1980s, some observers noted that the loan qualifying austerity policies implemented by many borrowers were prolonging and deepening the debtor nations' problems. During the 1980s, the Baker and Brady Plans were initiated to alleviate developing countries debts. The former plan called upon financial institutions to increase lending to developing countries by up to 50% and the latter plan sought to annul debt through collaboration with private–sector lenders. Developing countries' debt problems became known as debt overhang whereby the "presence of existing 'inherited' debt" exacerbated the debtor countries' economic hardships. While the Baker Plan was largely ineffective, the Brady Plan helped revive the Third World debt market and the composition of capital flows in the Brady countries shifted away from the public sector to the private sector in the form of foreign direct investment (FDI) and equity. During the 1990s, foreign aid declined largely due to three events: the end of the Cold War, the fiscal problems of the Organization for Economic Co–operation and Development (OECD) countries and growth in private–capital flows to developing countries. In addition, many anti–poverty advocates quixotically believed that by forcing creditors to accept loses, debt relief would remove the uncertainty associated with debt issues to ... • 7. Art Historians And Enthusiasts Alike Egyptian artifacts captivate the attention of art historians and enthusiasts alike. The unknown artifact shown in Fig. 1. is one of these Egyptian pieces and dates back to the Old Kingdom sometime between 2500–2200 BCE. The artifact is a sculpture of two people standing beside each other. It is monolithic and carved in high relief so it is meant to be viewed from the front because the figures were carved attached to the rectangular slab of stone behind them. The figure on the left is a man. The organic forms of his musculature creates an implied line as light hits the sculpture and creates contrast between his muscles. This is particularly evident on his chest where the form of the pectorals and the indentations of abdominal muscles are defined. His only garment resembles a kilt with a belt and a curved pleat over the left half of it. The figure beside him is a woman because of her softer, more feminine hourglass figure. Though the man and her are proportionally similar, she is only as tall as his shoulders. She wears a garment with an ankle length skirt of a light fabric due to her knees and abdomen being defined with softer curved forms as opposed to the male's more pronounced bone structure unclothed. The woman and man are embracing each other creating unity in the composition of the sculpture. The man's left arm is draped over the woman's back as his hand rests over her left breast while his right arm is down parallel to his side and his hand is in a fist. The woman's ... • 9. Art Analysis: Dying Warrior The work I chose to conduct a formal analysis on is named Dying Warrior the artist is unknown since it was made between c. 490–480 or 470 BCE. The sculpture is made from marble and is 1.83 meters long. The statue was found in the left corner of the east pediment of the temple of Aphaia, Aegina. the statute appears to be anatomically correct which leads me to believe that the creator had a understand of the body and how it works. I believe that the subject of this sculpture is to tell a story of the death of a warrior and how he appears before death claims him. The statue is pure white and is lying on its side clutching a shield. I hope to analysis this sculpture to gain a deeper insight on the culture that it came from and why they may have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He wears a traditional greek helmet and has beard that covers his chin and neck. The statues origins are from Greece which explains the shield and helmet of this design. The sculpture also has rich detail throughout the entire body especially the face. The muscles are defined and the genitalia is visible the face is also surprising detailed with a very well–defined eyes, mouth, and nose. The creator of these piece must have had a keen eye for anatomy because the details put into the muscles is very amazing. This sculpture has a very somber tone to it when you look at it you see a completely naked man lying on his side with only a helmet and shield. Once you read the title though you then realize that this is a warrior and he is dying. The greek culture was very famous for their stories and myths so it is not to hard to believe that this statue was made to tell a story. When you look closely at the details you see that the statues hand is closed into a fist which appears as if he is in pain and is fighting it back also the way his body is laying gives us a hint towards pain and the end of his ... • 11. Votive Statue Of Gudea Essay The Depiction of Divine Power in Votive Statue of Gudea Votive Statue of Gudea, is one of a series of votive figures commissioned by the Sumerian ruler Gudea, circa the year 2090 BCE . It was found in the modern city of Telloh, Iraq, formerly called Girsu, the capital city of the ancient Sumerian city–state of Lagash . The statue is carved from diorite, a hard, dark–colored stone that must have been imported to the city from other parts of the region . The votive statue is relatively small in size, measuring only two and a half feet in height . In the sculpture, Gudea stares directly at the viewer with large, pupil–less eyes. His neck is nearly nonexistent, and his broad shoulders and long, well–defined arms are disproportionate to the statue's comparably short torso and legs. In the artwork, Gudea is dressed in a long, smooth robe covered in cuneiform writing. A top his head, Gudea wears a large stylized fleece hat and he holds a jug spouting water in two streams firmly in his hands. In Votive Statue of Gudea, the artist attempts to portray Gudea's divine right to rule though his use of material, opulent dress, and idealized features. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The task would have been particularly challenging with the tools of the period in which it was created. Furthermore, the stone itself was not locally available and had to be imported from other areas. This project would have required well–trained artisans and likely took a sizeable amount of time to complete. It is also important to note that this figure is only one of twenty. This all would have necessitated the commissioner of the piece have access to a vast amount of material wealth. • 13. Debt Relief Initiatives in Poor Countries Debt Relief initiative Many governmental and non–governmental organizations argued that external constraint like high inherited levels of foreign debt have crippled in the capacity of low income countries to overcome poverty and that concessional lending's are not enough. This lead to the 'Enhanced Heavily Indebted Poor Country (HIPC)' initiative in 1996 in collaboration with world bank to eliminate unsustainable debt in the world's poorest and most heavily indebted countries. A summit meeting in 1999 expanded the spectrum of eligible countries for debt relief with higher and faster reliefs. This came to be known as Enhanced HIPC Initiative. The aim of Enhanced HIPC initiative was to achieve a level of indebtedness that would enable the country to service its debt in a sustainable manner. The program compares the actual level of indebtedness and debt–servicing burden to a constant theoretical sustainable level which is predetermined by the large industrial countries to which these debt are owed. Currently, the maximum net present value of sustainable debt–to–exports is 150 percent (of traditional 200%– 250%) or debt–to–fiscal revenue is 250 percent (of traditional 280%). The enable countries qualify for debt relief in two stages: In the first stage: The debtor's country has to create a satisfactory track record in an IMF or IDA program and demonstrate the capacity to use IMF assistance prudently. Once the country is considered eligible, the data is processed. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Biography The piece that was chosen was a cast bronze sculptor called "Mantime" in the American Painting and Sculptors exhibition from the El Paso Art Museum. This piece was created by Harry Geffert in 1995. Geffert is an American sculptor who was born in Live Oak County, Texas in 1934. As of today he lives and works at Crowely, Texas. Geffert has a Master degree from New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas, New Mexico and a Bachelor's degree in South West Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Harry Geffert is mostly known for his sculptors; and continues to create them as of today. (Worley, 2011) Perspective The Mantime is captivating and interesting to view. The whole sculptor is made of bronze; which I find very impressive that one can add much details to the work. The sculptor is large in size. But the idea that Geffert try to demonstrate is far beyond my comprehension. For one, this is the first time which I heard of Geffert and see his work. Yet, the idea I take a way from this sculptor is based on the small figures presented. The orbs, come in different sizes 2 small and 1 large size; these orbs may represent as Mother Nature. Then come along the complimentary features of nature itself. The trees, flowers and plants, along with the multiple little people figurines around the environment. I would assume based on the so called planet and the little people; I would guess that Geffert's artwork may represent domination or conquer around the globe. Granted the ... Influenced By Marxism And Imperialism Influenced by Marxism and imperialism, Dependency writers sought to explain the high inequities in the world economic system in terms of its distribution of power and resources and places most nations in a dependent position in relation to the industrial powers. Dependency scholars basically believe that less–developed countries will be unable to develop because the rich world uses them as the equivalent of colonies. The major contention here is that the developing countries of the Global South are hindered in their developmental efforts by their association (economic) with the industrialized countries of the Global North. Prominent scholars here include: Paul Baran and Paul Sweezy (Monopoly Capitalism, 1957/1960; Fernando Henrique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Free trade with minimal state intervention is the key tenet of neoliberal ideas driving most international organizations. In the contemporary world characterized by open markets, US hegemony, international organizations, regional cooperations and large inflows of foreign aids and technologies in economically less developed states, national governments are increasingly constrained in formulating and implementing policies that are deemed appropriate for their citizens. I discuss below major developmental challenges in Africa (by extension other poor countries) which have roots in contemporary imperial relations with the West. These include: debt burdens, structural adjustment programmes, operations of multinational corporations and external aid. Debt Burden One of the greatest threats to development in most African countries is the huge debt stock and the cost of servicing it. Large–scale borrowing in the 60s and 70s (in a bid to ensure welfare of the citizens after colonialism) coupled with events in the world economy such as rising oil prices, rising interest rates, falling commodity prices and global recession led to the Debt crisis of the early 80s which left many poor countries with huge cost of servicing debts which still lingers today. Glorification In Death Essay Glorification in Death The two pieces of art Standard of Ur (c. 2600 B.C.E.) and Sarcophagus of Junius Bassus (c. 359 C.E.), both by unknown artists, were ceremonious pieces in their time, and captivating works of art in ours. While the artists are unknown, their work is indicative of the time period in which they lived. Religious imagery and depiction of stories were subjects many artists pursued, especially in the death of their leaders. The sarcophagus was made for a member of the senatorial family, Junius Bassus, this amazing sculpted sarcophagus depicts multiple religious scenes and imagery. The top register of mosaics on each side depicts a king, who is exaggerated in size to show the figure in a larger scale than others. The Standard depicts the two most significant pieces of early Mesopotamian culture: the warriors who protected the people, secured access to water, natural resources and the King who served as an intermediary between the people and the gods. This artifact is part of the Early Dynastic Period which continued many earlier trends with its art marking an emphasis on leaders, gods, and roles of the people, The Standard of Ur continues this trend with the larger than life depiction of the King and brings to light a representation of life at the time while at war and ... • 23. Summary Of The Indian Triumph Of Dionysus In the Roman high relief sculpture, The Indian Triumph of Dionysus, a man takes the center of the piece as everyone else surrounding him appear to be celebrating. Located in the Museum of Fine arts, Houston's Audrey Jones Beck building the sculpture can be seen at a size of 34 ½ x 85 ¾ x 9 ½ in. Created between 180–195 AD it can be determined that through its use of space, movement, and line work that times of triumph call for a celebration. From the moment the viewer observes The Indian Triumph of Dionysus it can be noticed that open space is lacking on the 3D sculpture. What makes this highly noticeable upon first looking is the deep cuts that are created to help the individuals stand out. Usage of deep cutting can be referred to as high relief. Unlike low relief, high relief purposely projects its subjects from the background. The way this can impact the spacing of the sculpture is by making it appear it has less due to the 3D aspect standing out from the background. Another way a lack of space can be noticed is with the overlapping of forms. On the left side of the sculpture one of the best examples of the overlapping can be seen where captives riding an elephant are placed in front of multiple individuals. While not proportional to the rest of the humans on the piece those who are on the elephant the overlapping area display the intricacy of the work that went into creating a reduced space on the stone. • 25. Art Analysis : Victory Stele Of Naram-Sin Victory Stele of Naram–Sin is a relief sculpture and was created in 2,200 B.C.E it is 6 feet high, so it is huge. The subject only includes men, and they are dressed for battle. This particular artwork was an illustration of Naram–Sin with his army and how his "enemies [would] fall, flee, die, or beg for mercy" (Kleiner 41). Naram–Sin is the largest figure, about twice the size of the other figures. In addition, he has a helmet with horns and weapons. There is a background in this relief, and it includes a mountain with a tree and there are two stars. Each artist was influenced by the culture and location in which they created the artwork. For example, Nefertiti was the queen of Egypt with Akhenaton her husband. The style of this sculpture is Egyptian because of its location. Because Neffertiti was queen, the culture changed how the artist portrayed her. In fact, Fred Kleiner a well–known author of multiple art history articles and books says that "The sculptor seems to have adjusted the likeness of his subject to meet the era's standard of spiritual beauty" (76). She likely would have taken offence if the artist did not change her appearance biased on the cultures ideal. This artwork was commissioned, which also played a role in the influence of this piece. Not to mention that the king commissioned this piece, and obviously no one wants to get on his bad side. Another example of how culture influenced the artwork is with the Empress Theodora. Despite this, both statues have a very contrasting style. On the west pediment, the warrior has an arrow embedded in his chest which causes him to fall with grace in this unnatural way. The warrior is smiling and is in a modeling posture rather than a realistic one. However, the warrior on the east pediment seems more realistic as it's seen in the appropriate position for someone who is near death. The Lamassu is an enormous piece in weight as well as height. The Colossal Statue of King Tutankhamen is also an enormous piece, but instead, the height is the only thing that sets it apart from the Statue of King Tutankhamen. The height of both pieces is very intimidating because they are both taller in relation to people. With both pieces being this tall, the viewer is able to interact with the pieces more than the smaller ones. The statues are both reliefs, but the Colossal Statue of King Tutankhamen is around relief. This statue allows the viewers to walk around the statue and get a clear idea of what the artist was trying to express with this piece. The Lamassu is also a relief sculpture, but instead, the viewer is unable to fully walk around the relief. This artwork can only be seen from the very front as well as the side, this was how the artist intended to express the artwork. The artwork is similar as well as very different in many ways. The vase was found in the Inanna temple, located in Uruk, Iraq, which is modern day Warka. It is dated 3200– 3000 BCE and currently resides in the National Museum of Iraq. The attributes of the vase include a narrow base, that supports the tall, beige structure. The vase is large, being over 3 feet tall and is made from the mineral Alabaster. The vase is in low relief because the subject projects slightly from its background. The subject of this relief is a religious festival that was held to honor the goddess of Uruk, Inanna. The vase is divided into three main registers that separate the different stories that are depicted in the narrative relief. At the top is the largest band that inhabits a woman in a headdress, some historians think it is Inanna, however others believe it to be a priestess. Next to the woman, on the left, is a naked man that is depositing offerings in the goddess's shrine. To the right of the woman a clothed male figure is shown, which art historians believe to be the priest–king. However, today she is generally thought of as a cat goddess. Like most Egyptian gods, Bastet had two natures: fierce and affectionate. Bast was seen as a protective goddess, because of the way cats protected households and crops from vermin. However, she was also regarded as a fierce fighter, and it was said that the pharaohs would ask her to protect them in battle. Also, there is a legend that says she is an "Eye of Ra", meaning she was a fierce protector but she tried to destroy all mankind and had to be put to sleep with blood colored beer. Some historians also think it relates to the rowdiness of her festival. Bastet was worshipped all over Egypt, but her worship was centered in lower Egypt at Bubastis at her temple. One of Bastet's great achievements in myth was that she slayed the evil serpent god Apophis (also known as Apep). In addition, the spirit is wearing a headdress decorated with flowers, ear jewelry, bracelets around both wrists, and sandals. Snakeheads also are shown wrapped around one of the spirit's triceps. One arm of the spirit is extended outward holding what appears to be a small branch of flowers. Also illustrated are feathered like wings on the back of the spirit. The work also gives subtle hints that the spirit has a very idealized physique. His arms and his hands are rather large with wide, broad shoulders. To fix this problem, in Doha, November 2001, an agreement was made to focus on the developing countries needs, not the already developed ones. I assume they would look very large in person but they are nowhere near the size of a realistic whale's tail. I think seeing the big tails in person would make people realize little things can and should be prevented so we don't destroy the habitats and homes of underwater creatures like these huge whales. Whenever humans let unnatural substances into the water, (example: oil spills) it causes pollution which is leading to the extinction of whales. This sculpture is making people notice the beauty of these humongous whales in hopes of making us more cautious in what we do in our everyday lives to preserve the lives of these mammals. It is an Assyrian artifact excavated from the palace walls of the capital of ancient Nimrud, dating between 883–859 B.C. The unknown artist's deliberate use of size, material, scale, style and content, together with the sculpture's original setting, reflects the politically driven agenda during the reign of Ashurnasirpal II. After one takes in the armed and protective aura of the Winged Being, the eyes are struck by the the very detailed workings of his hair and beard. His thick, curly and luxuriant hair suggests the kind of hair that only the most virile of men posess. This human aspect of the winged being serves as way to reflect the kings own power and virility. In terms of the object's anatomy, one notices the markings that are inscribed over the area that encompasses the space directly above his left knee and below the top of the sword in his right hand, spanning the full width of the sculpture. These markings are actually text and is a form of writing technique called Cuneiform. The same text that is on Relief of A Winged Genius also appears on other reliefs within the palace walls. The inscription tells of the story of the kings lineage, his military victories, how he founded Kalhu (present–day Nimrud, Iraq) and built his palace. These inscriptions are a perfect example of political propaganda which purposely highlight the kings skill and accomplishments. Considering the artist's choice of medium, form, and content, it's clear that he or she chose their elements very carefully to convey a message of power, strength, and permanence to the intended viewer at the time. There is no movement whatsoever, but there does seem to be a subtle vertical line running through the young girl's contropossto stature. An expression is worth a thousand words. The young girl depicted shows no emotion, which is a typical characteristic in the classical greek style. It looks as though the girl depicted has her mind somewhere else, which actually creates a sense of peacefulness since her expression is not one of pain or discomfort . Unlike most Greek sculptures that are massive in size, this sculpture is smaller because it depicts the death of a small child. According to the description besides this sculpture, the doves that the girl is holding represent her innocence of childhood. They can also represent the kind of person she ... • 56. Human Depictions In Ancient Art In the ancient Near East, human depictions in art varied over time and distance; as noted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, "The art of the ancient Near East exhibits a great variety of forms and styles, reflecting the many peoples, cities, kingdoms, and empires that flourished in the region over thousands of years". Early relief carvings often told stories in multiple registers, using human figures that were much more detailed and lifelike than in prehistoric art. Statues were often placed in Sumerian temples, such as stylized votive figures that adhered to a set of conventions; Gudea, ruler of Lagash, later followed a similar tradition of placing votive statues of himself in temples. An Akkadian lost wax casting, the earliest known example ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A striking departure from traditional artisitic conventions is the Amarna style popularized under Akhenaten. Artwork created during this period abandons the strong, regal style of the past and shows Akhenaten as an almost cartoon–like figure, with spindly limbs, a swelling belly, and a highly stylized face. This anomalistic style persisted only as long as Akhenaten's reign, however, and was abandoned shortly after his death (Stokstad and Cothren 72). In the Ancient Aegean culture, the earliest examples of the human figure are found on the Cycladic Islands. The people of these islands created marble statues ranging from a few inches to over five feet tall. These statues were highly abstracted representations of the human form that are similar in their simplicity and geometric form to some prehistoric art. These statues display their own set of artistic conventions in their strict symmetry, basic forms, and proportional composition. Analysis of these figures shows that they were decorated with Kelly Jordan: Kelly Jordan: painted motifs, such as brightly colored lines or wide–open eyes painted all over the figure, ... • 58. Art History Analysis Paper This paper is a formal analysis of the Marble grave stele with a family group relief sculpture. It is a pentelic marble style relief standing at 171.1cm tall carved by a master. It is from the Late Classical period of Greek, Attic which was completed around ca.360 B.C. . I chose to analyze this piece as apposed to the others because I'm mainly attracted to art and sculptures from the Greek era. The overall color used in this relief is ivory with a few cracks and pieces broken off. There is some discoloration which causes the color to come off as slightly light brown for most of the relief. The sculpture appears larger compared to the other sculptures in the art room. It represents a family which includes a man, his wife, and their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His attire is just a robe draped around his waist, over his lap and covering his legs all the way down to his feet. You can see that the excess material of the robe around his waist was intended for his whole body because of the multiple layers draped over his lap. There are no details of his toes or feet because of the missing piece of the relief but you're able to see just the back of his foot. His inch long hair and full facial beard look extremely wavy and curly. The fact that his facial hair is present and thick on his face makes me assume that he is possibly in his forties although many men back in that time didn't live that long. He is sitting with ease and his face seems calm all the while staring blankly ahead. Looking at his face straight on, there seems to be no emotion in his eyes. My eyes are then shifted towards the woman on the right side of the relief. The woman seems to be his wife and is shown standing extremely close to him. Since the chair is backless, I think her standing so close behind him depicts her unity with him. It seems as though she is his support and is there to follow him. She is right up against his back with her right hand up by her chest and his head. The wife and child's attire displays a robe draped over the entire body leaving only her arms exposed although the wife has sleeves draping all the way down behind her forearm. The robe drapes over the wife's head like a shawl or veil covering the back half of her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For Jan de Heem means at least in part a celebration, an invitation to share, at least visually and thus imaginatively, in its world. The feast on the table was a feast for the eyes. How is it portrayed symbolically in the piece and the vocabulary term used for this kind of painting. This painting is an example of Vanitas. The vanitas tradition of still life painting is specifically designed to induce in the spectator a higher order of thought. This is a reminding the viewer of the frivolous quality or vanity of human existence. It's a still life painting with the enjoyment of the pleasurable things in life. The overturned goblet, the half peeled lemon, the oyster on the half–shell, the timepiece beside it , all remind the viewer that the material is celebrated in the painting in long lasting as the spiritual and may be greater importance than material wealth. The artwork is of a huge meal, most that has been left uneaten. Southern fruit in a cold climate is of luxury and the peeled lemon is untouched. Was a sign of unwanted consumption in the artwork. • 70. The Classical Period Of Greek Art The beautiful "Three Sided Relief", also known as the "Boston Throne", is a treasure of the Museum of Fine Arts, as it is an original relief from the Early Classical Period of Greek art. Though it was found in Rome, it is not a Roman copy of the relief, which makes it incredibly unique. The Three Sided Relief was found in a private villa on via Boncampagni. The intriguing part of this discovery was that the Three Sided Relief was found in the same region as the Ludovisi Relief, a relief of a similar proportion, subject matter, and creation date. The artwork, though found in Rome, is very easily identified as Greek due to the material used (marble) and also the distinctly Greek style of the relief, containing reference to both Ionic Greek agriculture and Attic grave reliefs. Greeks used their art much more religiously than the Romans, who used it more for political propaganda purposes. Artwork to the Greeks was used to honor their gods and decorate the temples they erected to celebrate their gods. The main face of the Three Sided Relief depicts a winged boy in the nude standing in the center of the relief, and holding up a large balance. There are three large holes cut into the relief, one in each wing of the boy and another in his chest. These holes were made to receive the ends of tenons, proving that the now lost beam was made of marble, not bronze. The two pans of the balance are still attached to the relief, as they are anchored to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The abstract (meaning, relating to reality, however has been distorted to appear unreal) works of the series, speak about the dangers of urbanisation, references to the biblical tower of Babylon as well as the quote, "the higher you build, the greater you fall" (Edwin Almeida). This artwork as a series, will be the main focus of this review. The series mainly comprise of watercolour and acrylic paint (paintings), paper photographs, wood, metal and human figurines (sculptures). The 4 canvas paintings all display a theme of spaced out areas, as well as areas that are tightly packed with layered lines/dots of paint. The sculptures however, are built to appear tall and unstable for the human figurines that are placed standing close behind one another. In addition, the sculptures consist of "angled/protruding" photographs of city environments and metal bird cages. Across the six artworks, the tone and colours contrast through bright, warm tones, to cold and dark shades, possibly to convey both positive and negative aspects of urbanisation, and the reasoning (to find better jobs, education, etc) behind urbanisation. The artist explains the artworks are made to display the dangers of urbanisation and make references to disasters such as the fallen towers 9/11, Rana Plaza and Grenfell Tower. White Limestone From the great pyramids to notable rulers, Egypt has solidified its reputation as one of the most dominant civilizations of the Mediterranean world. Through the creation of monuments and artifacts emerges the true beauty and richness of Egypt's history and art. The Door of Ni–ankh–Snefru embodies the depth of social and religious implications within Egyptian culture. The door was an important element to private tombs because it served as a passageway for the deceased soul to go from one world to the next. Doors like this were often inscribed with offering instructions, the name, and titles of its owner. Visitors would bring offerings to the private tomb to celebrate Ni–ankh– Snefru, who was a wine cellar and food storage overseer at the palace and a lector priest. The sculpture itself stands about five feet high, three feet wide, and is from the Old Kingdom during ca.2321 BCE. It is made of white limestone which gives it a grainy texture, but has traces of paint that give it a more even tone of an off–white or cream color. Typical of Egyptian art, the Door of Ni–ankh–Snefru is decorated with hieroglyphics and reliefs to frame the importance of the deceased, Ni–ankh–Snefru, and convey messages of administration, religion, and culture to its viewers. • 76. Debt Relief: A Review of the HIPC Initiative The Heavily In–debt Poor Countries (HIPC) initiative was created in 1996 by the wealthy nations through the combined efforts of the IMF and World Bank. This initiative actively seeks the abatement of outside debt through depreciation by official donors. It was made to help the poorest of nations though some criticize it is only offering aid to rich countries with decline in aid to truly needy ones. The IMF or International Monetary Fund was set up as a last resort means of aiding struggling countries. "The International Monetary Fund, based in Washington, D.C., is the global economy's lender of last resort to countries in crisis. " (The New York Times 2012). These two oganizations, one created by the other, can produce a lot of good in terms of providing financial stability through working together for a common goal. There is a need for organizations like HIPC and IMF to work together because they in tangent can develop better methods of allocating money to poor countries by operating and communicating in a cohesive manner that makes public the amount of money forgiven and the reasons behind the debt reduction. Since the HIPC has so many strict guidelines to reduce, not eliminate debt from poor countries, the combined efforts of the IMF could alleviate the debt crisis in these select countires through a simpler and faster means than only going through one organization. • 78. Essay Student Loan Debt Relief Student Loan Debt Relief Student loan debt relief is a controversial issue in America today. Student loan debt affects twelve million college students, roughly 60% of all college attendees, per year (Student Loan Debt Statistics). Student loan debt relief rose to the forefront of economic news during the financial market crash of 2008. The U.S. Government has developed a debt relief plan that extends payments over a 25–year period, with a full forgiveness of all remaining debt at the end of that 25–year term (Ensuring That Student Loans Are Affordable). During this repayment period, payments can be suspended during times of unemployment, giving hardship students a break from their student loan payments. Many people feel that student ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another negative view concerning student loan debt repayment deals with the amount of loan debt that a borrower may accrue. With this new program in place, borrowers may feel free to borrow higher loan amounts, knowing that they will have a 25–year period for repayment (Redd). This puts a heavy burden on the lending institutions, as far as the debt structure is concerned, since the larger loan debt load will be harder to maintain that smaller ones. The last critical view of student loan debt relief deals with the lending institutions themselves. Banking institutions originally offered student loans that were to be repaid within a 10–year period. The new student loan debt relief plan extends this repayment period to 25 years, and this will create a hardship on the banks that were the original lenders. Since the recovery time will be much greater for these debts, these banks will have less available funds for future loans. Many feel that decreased lending power from the banking institutions may cause more stress on our economy in the long run. A large part of economic development rests in the ability of banks to keep loaning money, and if cash flow from loan repayment slows, it can take a toll in future lending (Keeton). There are several possible resolutions to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
