Supply Chain and Bergerac
Bergerac Systems: The Challenge of Backward Integration
Abstract
Veterinary expenditure has been on an increasing trend due to the increase in pet ownership in the
United States. Bergerac is a company producing equipments used for testing pet patients in the
veterinarian clinics. Omnivue is one of the most successful equipments produced by the company,
which is priced at a competitive rate to attract lower and middle sized veterinarians. The production
of Omnivue involves the use of plastics and chemical reagents supplied by two major suppliers,
GenieTech and Elsinore. The management of Bergerac is planning to take control over its suppliers
to reduce the production fluctuation and overhead costs of the firm. There are three strategic ...

Hence, manufacturing department should not interfere in the distribution department, and the latter
should be experienced in distribution of products like Omnivue to the end customers.
Strategic Alternative 2– Backward Integration
Backward integration is a type of vertical integration in which a company takes control over its
suppliers. It is a form of acquisition of the intermediary players involved in supplying the raw
materials used in the production process of the firm. Raw materials, intermediate manufacturing and
assembly are controlled by the firm whereas distribution to the end customer is done by a third party
company. In this way, company increases production efficiency and gains a competitive advantage
by lowering its production cost.
Bergerac can opt for the buy option and implement its backward integration by acquiring
GenieTech. GenieTech can provide the company with eight efficient molding machines for the
acquisition price of $ 5.75 million. The price includes experienced labor force and management.
Bergerac can fulfill its chemical reagent demand by using 4 out of 8 moulds provided in the
acquisition. Rest of the presses can be used in the expansion process or can be used to meet the
demand of a third party. This investment can result in the reduction of overhead expenses by twenty
six percent per unit. Bergerac can pay the amount over a period of five years making the project

Hospital Information Systems Integration Plan
HOSPITAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS INTEGRATION PLAN SYSTEM PERESPECTIVE
Abstract: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is playing a vital role in every aspect
of life; and has drastically contributed in the health sector as well. It's generally agreed that the
development and use of integrated healthcare systems are becoming an absolute necessity to support
the delivery of low cost, high–quality care [1]. To achieve this goal; Planning of Information System
is one of the most significant activities for Information System attainment in a large organization.
This paper presents the information systems integration plan for Hospitals operating under the
Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK). The main objective of the System integration is to
specify techniques to link all databases of different sub–systems in DHSK so that the information
interchange between the sub–systems is seamless. The plan shall be accomplished by applying the
methodology consisting of four steps: requirement analysis, conceptual design, systems architecture
design and system implementation. As the results of design, the databases shall definitely share
many identical data items. The presence of identical data items will allow the information update in
batch processing and will facilitate to design a common physical layer. Thus, a common XML based
database implementation along with shared assemblies is recommended to implement the databases
with identical data items, whereas, private

The second risk associated with the outsourced program involves GlobEx order entry, billing, and
customer relationship management (CRM) system integration. System integration proves to be risk
for both GlobEx and the end–user data if activity is not processed as intended. To mitigate these
risks, a system analyst in addition to a program manager will be assigned to the team to ensure that
the workflow will work as intended.
Customer Relationship Manager GlobEx will use the Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
tool with the goal of attracting, acquiring, and retaining customers. The CRM will house data for
three distinct records; 1) Existing Customers 2) Leads 3) Prospects.
Existing Customers Customers that are already served by GlobEx will be accessible to the assigned
sales professional and support team (leadership, business development representatives, program
manager, and system analyst).
Leads
Leads will be generated through company's website or from within the company which will be
assigned to the appropriate sales professional and support team.
Prospects
The sales professional will enter in key information into the CRM as a baseline to start the customer
relationship management process.

INTRODUCTION Currently, Verizon Wireless has two major billing systems: I2K and VISION. In
accordance with the strategic goals of the company and taking into consideration the corporate
vision and credo, the executive management decided that having one billing system would be
congruent with the objectives of the organization as a whole and the IT group in particular. After
several months of deliberation, using techniques such as brainstorming, receiving expert opinions of
SME (Subject Matter Experts) and taking into consideration the Payback period and ROI (Return on
Investment) it was decided that the I2K customers would be converted into the VISION billing
system. There will be 20 million customers that will be converted with the ... Show more content on

Local Health System Integration Act
The LHINs were established under the Local Health System Integration Act (LHSIA), 2006, with a
mandate to "plan an effective heath care service system, engage their communities and facilitate
integration and funding of the health system within their devolved authority". The fragmented
healthcare system in Ontario with uncoordinated patient care, poor management of resources and
complexity in access to healthcare information were few of the reasons for the introduction of
LHINs. The Key players 1. Ministry of Health and Long–Term Care (MOHLTC): The MOHLTC is
the main controlling entity in the Ontario integrated healthcare system. MOHLTC provide the
necessary funding to the LHINs and have an accountability agreement to monitor the proper ...

3. Health Service Providers (HSP): The HSP are organizations funded by the LHINs to provide
health care services to the people of Ontario. All the HSP's have accountability agreements with
their LHINs for performance measurement and accountability for the services provided. The HSP's
have to prepare a balanced budget and meet planning obligations to avail the necessary funding
from the LHINs. They provide all aspects of patient care. 4. Patients: The actual users of the health
services for which the integrated health care system has been designed. The patient care is the most
critical part of the health system and the patients form an integral part of the system. The patients are
looking for a health care system that is smooth to access, efficient and provides timely medical care.
Analysis of situation between the key players Healthcare in Ontario has been fragmented and the
patients are the ones who suffer the most due to the complex healthcare system. The LHINs have
been functioning for ten years but there are still not able to address the concerns of the population of
Ontario and their effectiveness has been questioned. In addition the problems pertaining to aging
population, increasing healthcare expenditures, increasing presence of chronic diseases and
demanding consumers have made the ministry of health think about their existing strategy to

Essay On The Supply Chain Of Zara
THE SUPPLY CHAIN OF ZARA For start in Zara's supply chain is unique. Current conventional
wisdom calls for manufacturers in all industries to outsource their goods globally to the cheapest
provider. Thus, most of Zara's competitors contract manufacturing out to low–wage countries,
notably Asia. However, Zara makes 40% on its own fabrics and produces more than half of its own
clothes, rather than relying on a hodgepodge of slow–moving suppliers. Even items that are
produced in farms are dealt locally in order to maximize time efficiency. Nearly all Zara's clothes for
its stores worldwide they are produced in its remote northeast corner of Spain (Chopra & M, 2000) .

Integration Of Practice Management System
B. Integration of Practice Management System According to research, it says that certain practice
management systems can be integrated with electronic health records, but there would not be any
advantages to it. I think that it would be better if private companies just stuck with electronic
medical records. It is becoming very popular and I feel over the years several hospitals and doctors '
offices will only be using the use of electronic health and medical records so they might as well use
it now and be comfortable with it rather than waiting. I do not think that you should mix the
integration of practice management system with electronic health records because I feel like it will
be more complicated and may cause problems and confusion. I feel if they are going to use
electronic health records that they might us well use it in its full entirety. II. CHALLENGES IN
IMPLEMENTING THE EHR A major challenge with implementing electronic health records is the
cost, It can be very costly. It may be hard for a private family company to come up with money right
away. Another critical challenge was the time that it takes to implement electronic health records. It
takes time because you have to set up everyone 's information and have everyone get used to the
new method. There is also always a possibility that there may be a glitch and you type something in
wrong so then you would have to go back and fix it. These are critical challenges that worry people,
but in the long run it

applying of such approaches is limited by the political and technical reasons. Therefore, second type
of multi area economic dispatch models is presented. Decentralized approaches are known as the
second types of multi area economic dispatch models. Lagrangian relaxation is the most popular
applied to decompose general multi area economic dispatch problem into regional sub problems
[lai2016], [li2015] and [ahmadikhatir2014]. The integration of coupling constraints into the
objective function is the decomposed way to reach independent planning of each area. A
decentralized technique to schedule optimal planning of thermal units and allocate acceptable
reserve for a multi area network is presented in [ahmadikhatir2014]. Such technique is based on
Lagrangian relaxation. In addition to, other decomposition techniques are applied to solve multi area
scheduling problem. In [li2016], a decentralized dynamic economic dispatch model, which is based
on modified Benders Decomposition, is presented. However, this algorithm needs a hierarchical
control structure with a coordinator. A marginal equivalent decomposition algorithm is deployed to

Electronic Health Record ( Ehr ) Systems Integration With...
Electronic Health Record (EHR) Systems Integration With Clarity Connect The challenges of
integrating diverse healthcare standards, intranet and Internet communications, patient and
consultant accessibility to EHRs and internal business systems require an exceptionally mobile,
intuitive and secure platform. EMR and EHR software are designed to integrate electronic health
records into healthcare businesses to provide HIPAA compliance. However, to meet or exceed these
requirements and offer patients, medical staff, insurance providers and outside consultants access to
EMRs and EHRs, healthcare businesses need a robust communications platform to connect these
stakeholders. The benefits of offering Web access to health records include better patient care, cost
savings and efficiencies, better coordination between medical service providers and greater patient
participation in his or her own care. Integrating with Top EHR Software The Health Information
Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act of 2009 committed federal resources
by creating incentives for integrating EHR and EMR systems with patient–accessible websites.

the level of its integration can vary from loose association to almost complete ones. Discuss these
different levels of economic integration with examples for each of the stages. 1st Answer: The term
"integration" itself in the economic area first appeared in the context of an industry organization in
either vertical or horizontal. Meanwhile, in the broader context such as in the context of the country.
In the context of the country, integration is described as a form of unification of multiple and

Executive Summary
Introduction
In the paper, the researcher learned about the poor integration system that was created by the
consulted. In order to improve the system there were certain things that had to be enhanced such as
the security within four main department of the campus, so it was necessary to find the best way to
reduce the WAN, include a VLAN structure and reduce broadcast traffic.
Methodology
An IP addressing table that includes routes for Denver and Houston was created to update the router
and link addresses. A multi–Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) will be used to enhance the security
and the label within so that it can make the decision regarding the best option to transfer data from
downstream to upstream. A public–client network citizenship will also be linked with the WAN
reduce unwanted network traffic. A VLAN structure will also be implemented to enhance the
security.
Results
After the implementation the new structure. The routing protocol for the router can speech a
language that they can understand to transfer data across links. The public–client network
citizenship (GPO) will reduce redundant links. The new IP addresses gives the computer the ability
to communicate anywhere in remote location.
Implications
There are enough IP addresses available for growth. A min. of 20% growth is available with the

attractive opportunities in support of building a profitable business model. These strategies can
leverage vertical and/or horizontal integration of new business entities. These entities are designed
to help with growing market share, increasing efficiencies and/or reducing costs. Online business
using the internet has experienced significant growth over the last two decades. According to the
Internet World Stats (2014) the number of worldwide internet users has grown from an estimated 16
million in 1995 to 2.9 billion in 2014. This world of interconnectivity has provided a way for people
all around the globe to communicate with one another in a real time format. The internet has
removed the distance between governments, industries, businesses and individuals. This
interconnectivity has helped to establish the foundation for a globalized community. The ease to
establish global boundaries have put new emphasis on the management of systems to support these
expanded markets and communications. This places an emphasis on leaders to virtually lead
organizations. It also places a new burden on the systems and processes to establish these links, set

OUTSOURCING
Transfer some of what are traditional internal activities and resources of a firm to outside vendors,
making it slightly different than the traditional make–or–buy decision. Outsourcing is part of the
continuing trend toward utilizing the efficiency that comes with the specialization. The vendor
performing the outsourced service is an expert in that particular specialty, and the outsourcing firm
can focus on its critical success factors – its core competencies.
5. SUPPLY–CHAIN STRATEGIES
For goods and services to be obtained from outside sources, the firm must decide on a supply–chain
strategy. One such strategy is the approach of negotiating with many suppliers and playing one
supplier against another. A second strategy is to develop long term, "partnering" relationships with a
few suppliers to satisfy the end customer. A third strategy is vertical integration, where firms may
decide to use vertical backward integration by actually buying the supplier. A fourth variation is a
combination of few suppliers and vertical integration, known as keiretsu. In a keiretsu, suppliers

Analysis Of Fernand Braudel 's World System Analysis And...
Both Wallerstein and Braudel engage in extensive analysis and the integration of secondary source
material from across many discipline, but they have different strategies on how to do that. From my
broad understanding, Braudel advocates breaking up history into manageable bites, be it time or
geographic location, while Wallerstein, although mentions the merits or Braudel's view, prefers a
more global, large view of history. All four of these works, two from Braudel, and two from
Wallerstein, can be seen as introductions to their perspective theories. Fernand Braudel's aim in his
work On History, is "to have us (as the reader) accept a structural and conservative social history as
opposed to a liberal, flexible, evolutionist sort of history." Crucially, he states, "I believe that a

Pricing: It is evident from all of the studies reviewed that integration of physicians into hospital–

showed that integration results in higher expenditures which are contrary to what is touted as a
benefit of integration, i.e. more efficient care and a reduction of unnecessary or duplicative testing.
Quality & Patient Satisfaction: The literature also demonstrates that vertical integration does not
lead to improvements in the quality of care or patient satisfaction. In fact, the results of the studies

The Integration Of Health Systems
Integration of Health Systems
Marquetta Wiggins
Walden University
We first have to define what horizontal integration is? "According to Shi and Singh (2015) is a
growth strategy in which a healthcare extends its delivery core product or service". The way
horizontal integration is obtained by is internal development, acquisition or merger. Organization
can be linked horizontally closely, through ownership or alliances. Horizontal integration mainly
focuses on controlling the distribution of certain type of health services in an area. Some examples
of the focus are multihospital chains, nursing facilities chains or chains of drug stores all under the
same name and management. Diversification of new products or services is not reaching within
horizontal integration Shi & Singh (2015).
An example of horizontal integration is the Carolina's Health Care Systems. This was founded in
1940. It is the nation's leading and most innovative healthcare organization. They provide a full
variety of healthcare and wellness programs throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. They
have more than 900 care locations that include academic medical center, hospital healthcare

Vertical Integration Delivery System ( Idc )
Horizontal integration is the expanding of a company through increasing the service to create a
stronger and more enhanced company that provides the same service. Vertical integration is when a
company owned individual providers create or operates the distribution themselves. In order to
provide the best healthcare service, healthcare facilities needs to offer a network of providers with a
wide range of healthcare service. The term integration delivery system (IDC), "is a network of
organizations that provides or arranges to provide a coordinated continuum of services to a defined
population" (Shi& Singh, pg. 366). The goal for healthcare organization is to provide high quality
and efficiency of care with cost reduction for healthcare aimed toward the patient population. This
goal is not only a great benefit for an organization but for patient and also for healthcare services

Case Study Of Zara Supply Chain
The supply chain is the network created amongst different companies producing, handling and/or
distributing a specific product. Specifically, the supply chain encompasses the steps it takes to get a
good or service from the supplier to the customer {1}. Supply chain management is a crucial
process for many companies, and many companies strive to have the most optimized supply chain
because it usually translates to lower costs for the company and in Zara's case a highly competitive
and profitable system. Here we are going to discuss Zara's supply chain or network. Design the
starting point is a collaborative phase where teams of creative professionals carry out the design
process and store managers who act as trend spotters and report everyday to headquarters. When it
comes to materials Zara's supply chain is unique where they make 40 percent of their own fabrics.
As for cutting they produce more than half of its own clothes and even things that are farmed out are
done locally to maximize time efficiency. Zara cuts fabric in–house and then sends the cut designs to

That been said, Zara incurs a higher cost on materials and labor by not outsourcing to the cheapest
source globally. Spain being in Europe makes it a lot more expensive especially with labor laws and
minimum wage and that also increases the cost of materials where we know Zara make 40 percent
of their own fabric and the rest probably are purchased on a local rather than a global basis. The cost
is offset by the cost savings of not having items shipped all over the world. It is also offset by faster
response time between each stage and the closer proximity for distributing or shipping in the
Spanish markets and Europe. Zara's competitive advantage is speed 'fast' fashion which is alot more
important than the minimal amount that Zara could save by sourcing

Integrations for Enterprise eCommerce with CRM Systems
The website, eCommerce site or B2B platform works as a two–way interface between clients,
prospects, company staff and business partners. CRM software typically manages these relationships
by profiling contacts, providing authorized access to informational sources, managing customer
service and analyzing business opportunities based on customer and contact behavior. However, any
CRM system runs on data and is only as effective as the data that's collected. The software will
never perform to its full potential unless it 's fully integrated through the API layer to automate
intelligence–gathering activities from the behavior of clients, prospects, decision–makers, business
associates and other stakeholders. Integrating your systems generates many informational feeds that
tell sales departments where to focus their efforts to provide better user experiences. Useful
integrations for eCommerce companies include hundreds of possibilities, but some stand out
because they prove useful to a wide cross–section of B2B operating models. It 's always important
to consider a company 's industry–specific needs, but these common questions are good starting
points for assessing any B2B company's needs according to a marketing software company:[1]

Steve jobs the CEO of Apple, thought that implementation of forward vertical integration is one of
the most significant tactics that grant Apple a leading competitive position. No doubt Apple has too
many competitors, but forward vertical integration has been realized as a tool that distinguishes
Apple from others. It has been decided that the less Apple depends on others the more competitive
they are. This made Apple possess their operating system. Apple could successfully get rid of the
middle man. This means they distribute their own products through their Apple retailers that do exist
all over the world. Through making use of the forward vertical integration, Apple assures that their
some of the products entirely controlled by them from to bottom. Apple distinguished itself from
existing rivals (Lyons,2010).Another thing that Apple benefited from forward vertical integration is
that Apple could gain a marvelous competitive position in the global market. This is attributed to
fact that Apple became four companies in one. Apple includes four diverse companies. It's a
hardware company, a software company, a services company, and a retail company. Being a retailer
makes them control prices of their sales. This adds a competitive edge to Apple (Bajarin,

Apple Vertical Integration Essay
I can start with the fact that Apple Inc. is a vertically integrated company. It is a package of every
things from hardware to software, over to online services. It do all this to proof its products that
distinguish market from PCs to smartphones.
In this essay, I will discuss how Apple used vertical integration strategies, both backward integration
and forward integration to planning its competitive position within its industry.
First of all, vertical integration is when the company need to develop its business and expand it to
areas that are in different points on the same production channel like when a company owns its
supplier or distributer in order to get more control in a particular sector, as well as to increase profits

We can say Apple vertically integrated because its four companies in one, so all key parts of the
supply chain under its controlling. It's a hardware company because its designs its own hardware, its
software company because its own and developed its software such as iOS operating system, Apple
is a service company because it prepare its products like the iTunes an iCloud also Apple as a retail
company it retails of its apps online through Apple Store. This is unlike Samsung used Google's
Android operating system in its cell phones.
Apple followed this approach, therefore all profit go to Apple and increase its income but also there
are disadvantages to this strategy when a company fails to keep their finances they are only
influence itself and that lead to loss more money.
Apple has followed both backward and forward integration for many reasons. To control its
manufacturing process of its hardware, to know its customers and to control innovation supply
chain. A backward integration target is to develop the inputs and that way give more control on
Apple's supply chain. Apple followed forward integration to increase its market share by changing
the method that following in distribution. For many reasons Apple decide to have own retail stores,
to increase its customers benefits and develop its

Leonardi (2011) stated "In many modern organizations it may be as easy for people to change the
material makeup of a technology, and hence its material agency, as it is for them to change existing

both planned changes "changes resulting from deliberate decision to alter the organization" and
unplanned changes "changes that is imposed on the organization and is often unforeseen" (p. 290).

individuals. For example, Northcentral University– Executive Concepts (2011) details a list of types
of systems and the purposes organizations would use these systems. The following chart lists a few
of the examples of different types of information systems as explain by Northcentral University–

Vertical integration in studio system Essay
Vertical integration in studio system
The term "vertical integration" refers to the structure of a marketplace, which is integrated (rather
than segregated) at a variety of crucial levels. In the case of the motion picture industry, the studio
system established a market in which the studios owned production facilities, distribution outlets,
and theaters. In other words, the studios controlled every level of the marketplace from the top
down, from production to exhibition.
"Vertical integration" began in the 1910s and inspired the postwar consolidation of the studio system
as national distribution companies, such as Paramount merged with production companies, such as
Famous
Players and Lasky and subsequently began purchasing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The majors owned only a fraction of the nation's theaters, e.g. 3000 of the 18000. But these theaters
were large, first run houses and located in big cities. Therefore they generated 70% of the box office
receipts.
The majors ensured the profitability of their own theaters and controlled the independents by
instituting a series of special distribution practices. These were known as block booking, blind
bidding, runs, zones, and clearances.
Block booking refers to the rental of films in large quantity. If exhibitors wanted to rent films, they
have to rent the entire yearly output. And since they contracted with the distributors before the film
has been made, the distributors were forced to bid for them without seeing them, a procedure called
blind bidding. This way the studios could sell the bad pictures with good.
As a result of the system the new films will be first rented to the first run theaters of which the
majority was owned by the studios, and then its shown in the second run and sub run theaters after a
clearance time of about 7–30 days (to renew demand). Distribution is also guided by a system of
zones; only one theater in any particular area is allowed to show a new picture.
The dismantling of the studio system began just before World War II when the U.S. Department of
justice's Antitrust Division filed suit against the 8 studios for the use of their monopolistic methods

The acquisition of the mine resistant ambush protected vehicle (MRAP) was the largest industrial
mobilization and the most significant example of urgent industrial cooperation on a massive scale
since World War II (Gansler, Lucyshyn, and Varettoni, 3). A review of the MRAP vehicle
procurement program provides interesting lessons learned and leads to questions about the
effectiveness of the process. The debate associated with the MRAP procurement program uses facts
and emotional arguments in an attempt to encourage continuation of the process for future similar
acquisition programs. During the period between 2003 and 2007, Improvised Explosive Devices

Normally, before any new equipment can be purchased, the need must be proven and prioritized
(MRAPs, Irregular Warfare, and Pentagon Reform, 20). The Pentagon uses the Joint Capabilities
Integration and Development System (JCIDS) to determine requirements and only select projects
are important enough to be considered by the Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) and the
others are passed down to lower levels (Ibid.). JROC and JCIDS assist the Chairman of the Joint
Chiefs of Staff counsel the Secretary of Defense on the military capabilities (Ibid.). The process of
determining requirements is laborious due to the number of compromises and concerns that need to
be considered before making a decision to spend billions of dollars. Key issues for consideration
include the importance of the requirement to mission success and determining the best resources
required to satisfy the need (Ibid.). Other considerations include impacts to training, tactics,
doctrine, organizations, leader development, personnel, and facilities (Ibid.). The requirements
process is purposely designed to be strenuous since its goal is to decrease waste and take full
advantage of benefits (Ibid.). The main point is that is not possible to acquire military equipment
without a validated requirement or without considering if other less costly solutions might address
the problem. Although the normal acquisition process focuses primarily on future requirements, it
does permit a review of urgent needs from field commanders (Ibid.). Finally, the normal acquisition
process requires a sequential phasing process characterized by developmental testing, operational
testing, production, integration, fielding, disposal and requirements refining (Dikici,

Dbq Robber Barons
When evil people do evil things, they should not deserve being the most powerful people in our
society or government. A monopoly is the exclusive possession of the supply of a good or service
and that means they have complete control of an entire industry, that just doesn't seem fair. Many
monopolists are considered robber barons and some were captains of industry, however they are all
in some way selfish, names like John Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie and Cornelius Vanderbilt come
to mind. That is why I proposed a bill to target the railroad industry, the most corrupt monopoly of
them all, if we can stop them we can stop everyone else. The railroad industry promotes horizontal
integration, vertical integration and discriminates against smaller companies, that is why I wanted to
stop them. My first reason to pass this "commerce" act is that the railroad industry discriminates
against other companies and people. Some of us may have wondered, How are monopolies harmful?
Well, "monopolies are generally viewed as harmful because they obstruct the free competition that
determines the price and quality of products and services offered to the public," (Our Documents 1).
Those selfish snobs like Cornelius Vanderbilt, should understand what they do negatively affect
other people and that it's not right, they are ruining the american dream with their unjust ways.
Conditions for railroad workers were very bad, wages averaged a dollar per day and many workers

Pros And Cons Of Vertical Integration
The process of system of vertical integration is when a business attempts to gain control of the
upstream and downstream steps or firms in the supply chain (Zhou & Wan, 2016). This strategy can
offer a business control over quality and create avenues to additional resources (Zhou & Wan,
2016). With the growing cost of content licensing and the increased capabilities for original cable
television programming to draw new viewers, Netflix has expanded into the original programming
market and added to its service (Ferrell and Hartline, 2014). This expansion of its services
demonstrates the company's readiness to seek new market opportunities (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014).
The company projected the investment of $75 to $100 million in original programming to attract
new viewers in 2012 (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). Thus, the company's ventures in original content
have been well received by subscribers with 79 Emmy nominations in three years (Grotta, 2015).
The transition to original content has been successful and the company has signed on for 16 new
shows, 10 films, 30 children's programs, 12 documentaries and 10 stand–up specials for 2016
(Grotta, 2015). Vertical integration could present Netflix with the opportunities needed to take
control of its supply chain, expand original content, reduce its reliance on studio and television
contracts, and possibly ownership of its own distribution source (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). Below
are some pros and cons for Netflix to consider regarding vertical integration. Pros ... Show more

A Comprehensive System Integration Service
Case Corporation, a producer of agricultural equipment identified the need for a comprehensive
systems integration service. Upon acknowledging such a need, it became evident that in order for
Case to continue to thrive in the agricultural market it must leave its comfort zone in pursuit of a
systems integration service. Before doing so Case must assess the fit of the organization 's current
competencies against the changing needs of the market. Therefore, the success of such a systems
integrator is contingent on several factors, including Case's relationships with their dealers, the level
of trust between them and the consumer, current financial capabilities, and their global presence.
The dealers, critical members of the Case team handled much of the inventory, assessed the credit of
potential buyers, "missed church on Sunday" to fix broken equipment during the planting season,
and handled all of Case's used equipment (Case Corporation, 1997, pg. 7). Therefore, since the
dealer has direct access to the consumer they are better able to assess the needs of the farmer. Many
farmers have developed long personal relationships with their dealers, and were as loyal to the
dealers themselves as they were to the product; to most customers, the dealer was Case (Case
Corporation, 1997, pg.8). The dealer who has developed such working relationships can provide
unfiltered information that cannot be otherwise obtained. Case can capitalize on such relationships

Fabricated test data is prepared and integrated into the program, it is run through the application and
the results are compared to the results that are expected to be obtained. The test deck method
depends a lot on the abilities of the auditor to anticipate and capture all deviations and exceptions.
The auditor must be able to find and use different scenarios that may arise in order to detect errors.
An auditor must be able to analyze the data appropriately and carefully so that any errors are not
overlooked. Auditors can use another technique similar to the test deck method. The test deck
method is used by not incorporating it with live data. However, integrated test facility method is
used the same way except that it is incorporated with live data and is run through the client's system
along with normal transaction processing. The last technique used is called parallel simulation. With
this technique the auditor uses audit software to reproduce a part of an application or the entire
application to test data on. The data that is run on the client's original application is used again and
run on the reproduced program and the results are compared and any errors analyzed.
Functions of Audit Productivity Software
Productivity software is a tool used to assist auditors in performing their tasks more efficiently.

Bergerac is a company producing equipments used for testing pet patients in the veterinarian clinics. Omnivue is one of the most successful equipments produced by the company, which is priced at a competitive rate to attract lower and middle sized veterinarians. Hence, manufacturing department should not interfere in the distribution department, and the latter should be experienced in distribution of products like Omnivue to the end customers. Strategic Alternative 2– Backward Integration Backward integration is a type of vertical integration in which a company takes control over its suppliers. It is a form of acquisition of the intermediary players involved in supplying the raw materials used in the production process of the firm. Raw materials, intermediate manufacturing and assembly are controlled by the firm whereas distribution to the end customer is done by a third party company. In this way, company increases production efficiency and gains a competitive advantage by lowering its production cost. Bergerac can opt for the buy option and implement its backward integration by acquiring GenieTech. GenieTech can provide the company with eight efficient molding machines for the acquisition price of $ 5.75 million. The price includes experienced labor force and management. Bergerac can fulfill its chemical reagent demand by using 4 out of 8 moulds provided in the acquisition. Rest of the presses can be used in the expansion process or can be used to meet the demand of a third party. This investment can result in the reduction of overhead expenses by twenty six percent per unit. Bergerac can pay the amount over a period of five years making the project ... Current conventional wisdom calls for manufacturers in all industries to outsource their goods globally to the cheapest provider. Thus, most of Zara's competitors contract manufacturing out to low–wage countries, notably Asia. However, Zara makes 40% on its own fabrics and produces more than half of its own clothes, rather than relying on a hodgepodge of slow–moving suppliers. Even items that are produced in farms are dealt locally in order to maximize time efficiency. • 17. Integration Of Practice Management System B. Integration of Practice Management System According to research, it says that certain practice management systems can be integrated with electronic health records, but there would not be any advantages to it. I think that it would be better if private companies just stuck with electronic medical records. It is becoming very popular and I feel over the years several hospitals and doctors ' offices will only be using the use of electronic health and medical records so they might as well use it now and be comfortable with it rather than waiting. I do not think that you should mix the integration of practice management system with electronic health records because I feel like it will be more complicated and may cause problems and confusion. I feel if they are going to use electronic health records that they might us well use it in its full entirety. II. CHALLENGES IN IMPLEMENTING THE EHR A major challenge with implementing electronic health records is the cost, It can be very costly. It may be hard for a private family company to come up with money right away. Another critical challenge was the time that it takes to implement electronic health records. It takes time because you have to set up everyone 's information and have everyone get used to the new method. There is also always a possibility that there may be a glitch and you type something in wrong so then you would have to go back and fix it. IEEEPARstart{T}oday, integration of regional electric energy systems is more considered therefore, researchers propose different dynamic economic dispatch approach to find the optimal schedule of power generation resources for a given horizon, while the demand of each area is supplied as well as satisfying the technical constraints. Moreover, the large–scale integration of wind generation into power systems presents a significant challenge to system operator due to the unpredictable and highly variable nature of wind power generation that integration of regional electric energy systems and utilization of energy storage can be meet this issue. Also such paper uses the stochastic model for accounting uncertain conditions. A control operator requires for determining the optimal conditions of power network. However, the applying of such approaches is limited by the political and technical reasons. Therefore, second type of multi area economic dispatch models is presented. Decentralized approaches are known as the second types of multi area economic dispatch models. Lagrangian relaxation is the most popular applied to decompose general multi area economic dispatch problem into regional sub problems [lai2016], [li2015] and [ahmadikhatir2014]. The integration of coupling constraints into the objective function is the decomposed way to reach independent planning of each area. A decentralized technique to schedule optimal planning of thermal units and allocate acceptable reserve for a multi area network is presented in [ahmadikhatir2014]. Such technique is based on Lagrangian relaxation. In addition to, other decomposition techniques are applied to solve multi area scheduling problem. In [li2016], a decentralized dynamic economic dispatch model, which is based on modified Benders Decomposition, is presented. Both Wallerstein and Braudel engage in extensive analysis and the integration of secondary source material from across many discipline, but they have different strategies on how to do that. From my broad understanding, Braudel advocates breaking up history into manageable bites, be it time or geographic location, while Wallerstein, although mentions the merits or Braudel's view, prefers a more global, large view of history. All four of these works, two from Braudel, and two from Wallerstein, can be seen as introductions to their perspective theories. Fernand Braudel's aim in his work On History, is "to have us (as the reader) accept a structural and conservative social history as opposed to a liberal, flexible, evolutionist sort of history." Crucially, he states, "I believe that a dialogue could and should be initiated between the different human sciences, sociology, history and economics." Moving on to Immanuel Wallerstein who simply wishes to explain his ideas in his book World–Systems Analysis: An Introduction. "This is an introduction to world–system analysis. It has no pretention of being a summa. The book seeks to cover the whole range of issues, but no doubt some readers will feel that some things are missing, other things overemphasized, and of course some of my arguments simply wrong. In the case of the motion picture industry, the studio system established a market in which the studios owned production facilities, distribution outlets, and theaters. In other words, the studios controlled every level of the marketplace from the top down, from production to exhibition. Therefore they generated 70% of the box office receipts. The majors ensured the profitability of their own theaters and controlled the independents by instituting a series of special distribution practices. These were known as block booking, blind bidding, runs, zones, and clearances. Block booking refers to the rental of films in large quantity. If exhibitors wanted to rent films, they have to rent the entire yearly output. And since they contracted with the distributors before the film has been made, the distributors were forced to bid for them without seeing them, a procedure called blind bidding. This way the studios could sell the bad pictures with good. As a result of the system the new films will be first rented to the first run theaters of which the majority was owned by the studios, and then its shown in the second run and sub run theaters after a clearance time of about 7–30 days (to renew demand). Distribution is also guided by a system of zones; only one theater in any particular area is allowed to show a new picture. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Normally, before any new equipment can be purchased, the need must be proven and prioritized (MRAPs, Irregular Warfare, and Pentagon Reform, 20). The Pentagon uses the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) to determine requirements and only select projects are important enough to be considered by the Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) and the others are passed down to lower levels (Ibid.). JROC and JCIDS assist the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff counsel the Secretary of Defense on the military capabilities (Ibid.). The process of determining requirements is laborious due to the number of compromises and concerns that need to be considered before making a decision to spend billions of dollars. Key issues for consideration include the importance of the requirement to mission success and determining the best resources required to satisfy the need (Ibid.). Other considerations include impacts to training, tactics, doctrine, organizations, leader development, personnel, and facilities (Ibid.). The requirements process is purposely designed to be strenuous since its goal is to decrease waste and take full advantage of benefits (Ibid.). The main point is that is not possible to acquire military equipment without a validated requirement or without considering if other less costly solutions might address the problem. Although the normal acquisition process focuses primarily on future requirements, it does permit a review of urgent needs from field commanders (Ibid.). Finally, the normal acquisition process requires a sequential phasing process characterized by developmental testing, operational testing, production, integration, fielding, disposal and requirements refining (Dikici, ... • 68. Technology And System Integration In Health Care The third step that health care institutions will need to implent to be successful is the use of technology and system integration. Technology is a vital change in health care. Technology changes everyday and so does the way that we use it. Currently, most health care institutions operate on a interdependent system but, due to the need for patient information to be accessed from any health care organization systems are slowly starting to become more interoperable with the goal that all health care organizations will be connected by one large system. With the increased technology and the need for these systems health care officals have to also be concerned about patient privacy. As healthcarebusiness tech.com(2016) states " As technology in ... • 70. Dbq Robber Barons When evil people do evil things, they should not deserve being the most powerful people in our society or government. A monopoly is the exclusive possession of the supply of a good or service and that means they have complete control of an entire industry, that just doesn't seem fair. Many monopolists are considered robber barons and some were captains of industry, however they are all in some way selfish, names like John Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie and Cornelius Vanderbilt come to mind. That is why I proposed a bill to target the railroad industry, the most corrupt monopoly of them all, if we can stop them we can stop everyone else. The railroad industry promotes horizontal integration, vertical integration and discriminates against smaller companies, that is why I wanted to stop them. My first reason to pass this "commerce" act is that the railroad industry discriminates against other companies and people. Some of us may have wondered, How are monopolies harmful? Well, "monopolies are generally viewed as harmful because they obstruct the free competition that determines the price and quality of products and services offered to the public," (Our Documents 1). Those selfish snobs like Cornelius Vanderbilt, should understand what they do negatively affect other people and that it's not right, they are ruining the american dream with their unjust ways. Conditions for railroad workers were very bad, wages averaged a dollar per day and many workers injured themselves on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. Pros And Cons Of Vertical Integration The process of system of vertical integration is when a business attempts to gain control of the upstream and downstream steps or firms in the supply chain (Zhou & Wan, 2016). This strategy can offer a business control over quality and create avenues to additional resources (Zhou & Wan, 2016). With the growing cost of content licensing and the increased capabilities for original cable television programming to draw new viewers, Netflix has expanded into the original programming market and added to its service (Ferrell and Hartline, 2014). This expansion of its services demonstrates the company's readiness to seek new market opportunities (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). The company projected the investment of $75 to $100 million in original programming to attract new viewers in 2012 (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). Thus, the company's ventures in original content have been well received by subscribers with 79 Emmy nominations in three years (Grotta, 2015). The transition to original content has been successful and the company has signed on for 16 new shows, 10 films, 30 children's programs, 12 documentaries and 10 stand–up specials for 2016 (Grotta, 2015). Vertical integration could present Netflix with the opportunities needed to take control of its supply chain, expand original content, reduce its reliance on studio and television contracts, and possibly ownership of its own distribution source (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). Below are some pros and cons for Netflix to consider regarding vertical integration. Pros ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 74. A Comprehensive System Integration Service Case Corporation, a producer of agricultural equipment identified the need for a comprehensive systems integration service. Upon acknowledging such a need, it became evident that in order for Case to continue to thrive in the agricultural market it must leave its comfort zone in pursuit of a systems integration service. Before doing so Case must assess the fit of the organization 's current competencies against the changing needs of the market. Therefore, the success of such a systems integrator is contingent on several factors, including Case's relationships with their dealers, the level of trust between them and the consumer, current financial capabilities, and their global presence. The dealers, critical members of the Case team handled much of the inventory, assessed the credit of potential buyers, "missed church on Sunday" to fix broken equipment during the planting season, and handled all of Case's used equipment (Case Corporation, 1997, pg. 7). Therefore, since the dealer has direct access to the consumer they are better able to assess the needs of the farmer. Many farmers have developed long personal relationships with their dealers, and were as loyal to the dealers themselves as they were to the product; to most customers, the dealer was Case (Case Corporation, 1997, pg.8). The dealer who has developed such working relationships can provide unfiltered information that cannot be otherwise obtained. Case can capitalize on such relationships by advising with the ... • 76. System Integration and Validation System Integration and Validation Computer technology has advanced enough to help auditors find more efficient ways to audit. By using different auditing techniques and utilizing audit productivity software auditors can find errors in a business computer system faster and easier. Using this type of computer technology improves Audit documentation and processes. Computer Assisted Auditing Techniques or CAAT's can be used to validate data and system integrity by using different types such as testing data, integrated test facility and parallel simulation etc. Also by integrating Audit productivity software such as electronic working papers, groupware, and reference libraries, and document management, an auditor's personal productivity is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fabricated test data is prepared and integrated into the program, it is run through the application and the results are compared to the results that are expected to be obtained. The test deck method depends a lot on the abilities of the auditor to anticipate and capture all deviations and exceptions. The auditor must be able to find and use different scenarios that may arise in order to detect errors. An auditor must be able to analyze the data appropriately and carefully so that any errors are not overlooked. Auditors can use another technique similar to the test deck method. The test deck method is used by not incorporating it with live data. However, integrated test facility method is used the same way except that it is incorporated with live data and is run through the client's system along with normal transaction processing. The last technique used is called parallel simulation. With this technique the auditor uses audit software to reproduce a part of an application or the entire application to test data on. The data that is run on the client's original application is used again and run on the reproduced program and the results are compared and any errors analyzed. Functions of Audit Productivity Software Productivity software is a tool used to assist auditors in performing their tasks more efficiently. Audit productivity software is useful to an auditor because it performs functions such as risk assessment, scheduling, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Instead of a traditional use case, Scrum uses User Stories for modelling. The user story usually follow a simple template: As a , I want , So that I can . If the acceptance criteria was not well written it could throw off the project into a different direction altogether (Gayatr and Pammi, 2013).
