1 Introduction
1.1 Authorisation and purpose
This report was requested by Ms. Sophie Kinloch, the lecturer of Rooms Division Service
Standards. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the values of Social Medias and national rating
organisations by a hotel and consumer point of views.
1.2 Limitations
The length of taking this subject, lack of the experience in hospitality industry and stinginess of skill
of writing academic report may negatively affect the quality of this report. Moreover, the limited
information which writer could find influences the quantity of discussion.

with 7,700 shares closed with a price of $104 per share. On April 18, 1961, it changed its name to

Polaroid Corporation was established by Edwin Land and George Wheelright III in 1937. The
technology that they have developed made a wide application. In 1935, American Optical Company
got a license to use polarizers for the production of sunglasses (Polaroid, n.d.). Aside from the uses
of the technology on the products of war, it was also used to invent instant camera called the
Polaroid Land Camera, with film. In 1950–1954, Polaroid sales exceeded $23 million and over
4,000 dealers in the US alone selling Polaroid cameras, films and accessories. A color–photo version
of the Polaroid camera was released in 1963 which was called Polacolor (bio., nd.).

Some recalled 'if your relatives or your friends knew that you were working in Roaring Dragon, you
would be admired', 'it was a good work unit – danwei', and 'you were lucky if you worked there'3.
The original Hotel was a four–storey, rectangular, grey structure built in 1960 in a dull
Russian style. By 1993, the provincial government had funded a new extension and the Hotel now
consisted of two parts: the old four–storey section joined by a modern sixteen–storey extension
perched on a hill behind the old Russian. There was a contrast in the standard of accommodation.
Room rates were cheaper in the old section and so it attracted Chinese visitors searching for quality
economy accommodation. Visiting government officials and higher–end customers on the other
hand felt more comfortable in the newer and naturally more expensive section. There were two
guarded entrances to the Hotel, one on each level. A series of stairways, elevators and a warren of
banquet rooms, hallways, storage areas, offices, cafeterias, and a laundry untidily connected the two
buildings.

administration and its staff additionally they did not try to see if the employees understood the

Anne Mulcahy was born on October 21, 1952. After high school she attended Marymount College
and later became the first woman CEO in Xerox's history in August of 2001. She also went on to be
the company's first female chairman in January of 2002. Anne has been a part of the company since

audience, using the title as a connection between "xerox" (a copying process) and the people in the
poem. Historically, the Xerox corporation began in the 1960s and has had success in progressing
their copy machine and being a role model to other companies by introducing diversified labor. The
scheme of the poem, however, unfolds through a comparison to the death penalty. In the 1960s, the
death penalty became a topic worthy of discussion, as people began questioning the government's

2001 until retiring in 2009. When Mulcahy took the position of CEO, she was surprised by receiving
this position. She had stated in an interview that she was never groomed for the position and did not
