Ownership of Topshop and Police

There are two types of businesses, private and public. The difference between public companies and private companies is their ownership. Private held
companies are under control of a single or group of shareholders when public companies are owned by the government.

Summary of Chapter 4: Predictable Conflicts in the...
In this week's reading, Chapter 4: Predictable Conflicts in the Intersections, discussed the dynamics of conflicts that exist within the family business as
it relates to family, ownership, and management, which is also known as the three–circle model. This model derives from a breakdown of the two key
elements of business, management and ownership. When the family is combined with business it is highly likely for paradoxes to stem from one of
the three circles and the conflict becomes and paradoxes become more complex because the three circles are so closely connected and dependent upon
each other. According to the reading, a problem, or a situation that reflects perplexity or difficulty is a result of underlying conflicts. The... Show more

This is why is it would be beneficial to the family business to be proactive and put in place policies and procedures and to work hard at keeping the
lines of communication very clear between the owner, family and the management personnel. All three parties need each other to insure the business is
productive. Even with policies and procedures in place, situations always arise that require policies and procedures to be amended and adjusted in order
to protect the brand and the health of the business. The information present is very helpful to future conflict intervention professional because the
dynamics of the conflicts that family businesses face are more complex and require the mediator to understand the roles, functions and duties of the
family, owner, and management personnel.
The authors' presentation of the concepts introduced in this week's reading was very organized, detailed and easy to follow. The examples present in
the charts for each of the three circles really paints the picture really clear for the reader. This chapter makes it very clear that paradoxes may have
different origins and they need to be classified properly in order to adequately manage the paradoxes. The authors say it best, " The most effective
means of handling these problems is to analyze the conflicts associated with them for inherent contradictions, then to dig deeper, in search of the
primary underlying paradox and ultimately to address

Loss of Rights: Rhetorical Strategies in Groskopf's "The digital age has destroyed the concept of ownership, and companies are taking advantage of it"
The digital age is changing our rights on the subject of ownership: less and less people know whether they can copy, sell or even lend their digital
goods. An author named, Christopher Groskopf, wrote "The digital age has destroyed the concept of ownership, and companies are taking advantage of
it," published in 2016 in the Quartz, and he argues that intuition has fallen apart when talking about ownership of digital goods and that companies use
their fine prints to take benefit from this. Groskopf uses a survey, reputable sources, facts and statistics in order to appeal to similar feelings and
experiences in her adult readers; however, toward the end of the article, he weakens his argument by contradicting himself.
In his article, Groskopf first sets the stage by letting the reader take a survey to let them see if they know the type of ownership a reader would have
over an example of a digital book. His survey then outlines the uneven distribution of answers given showing that most of his readers are wrong about
digital ownership rights. Groskopf continues by stating that most of the rights are outlined in the Terms of Service (TOS) of the selling company, a
statistic from a reputable source showing that the majority of buyer's do not read the TOS and some examples demonstrating how companies can take
advantage of this

If the service provider is uncomfortable with this inquiry there may be business reason why their service is not intended for data migration. A gray
area in many assessment service agreements is defining the deliverable; i.e. hard copy reports. If the deliverable is a PDF, then the electronic records
may be retained for leverage by the service provider, or if they offer their data; it may be unusable. Drilling down into the detail here can save
organizations thousands of dollars in re–inspection expenses.
Preventing Lost Electronic Records
Building owners have realized the value of inspection records in some cases only after terminating a service provider. Then, finding the service
provider demanded a significant fee to transfer the electronic records, the transfer request was ignored, or the data which was the centerpiece of
expensive multiple year service agreement was upon closer inspection, kept in a unusable data format, or was built specifically for the firm using it.
Historical inspection records save data entry costs when as built information is in place. The facility sizes, construction types, sizes rarely change. Once
documented, structured correctly, updating conditions can be done in less than half the time required to set–up the original database. When surveys
and condition assessments cost thousands of dollars, there is a good reason to insure inspection information

The Concept Of Total Cost Of Ownership Or Tco
Introduction:
The concept of total cost of ownership or TCO (Cavinato 1991, 1992), life cycle costing (Jackson and Ostrom 1980), product life cycle costs (Shields
and Young 1991), and total cost of (Ellram and Siferd 1993) are all related. There is no unique definition of TCO, since the meaning of TCO is
dependent on individual and function of organization (Ellram, 1994).
TCO concept suggests that supply managers adopt a long–term perspective, rather than short–term, for accurate evaluation of buying conditions. Three
ideas formulate procurement functions:
1)Cost must be examined from a long–term perspective and include costs other than initial purchase price.
2)Consider the impact of other business functions related to a specific purchase.
3)Understand & measure, the impact of "non–value added" costs like service costs, failure costs, administrative costs, and maintenance (Ellram, 1994)
associated with the purchase.
Depending on the goals of the project, a TCO analysis supports decisions on operational, tactical, or strategic level.
Today, TCO analysis is used to support acquisition and planning decisions for a wide range of assets that bring significant maintenance or operating
costs across ownership life. Total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis is centre stage when management is faced with acquisition decisions for computing
systems, vehicles, buildings, laboratory equipment, medical equipment, factory machines etc.
TCO analysis for these kinds of assets is in

Pros And Cons Of Fractional Ownership
Do you dream of a holiday getaway to a destination you never dreamed you could afford?/ Have you seen adverts promising freebies as payment for
your time at a seminar or webinar? These are the allures of a timeshare racket. Now timeshares are for the most part scams, however, there is another
similar system known as fractional ownership. This is the opposite of a timeshare in which you actually own a piece of the property as opposed to the
right to use it at some point during the year. Now while the allure of a fractional ownership may sound appealing there are a few things to consider
before buying a fractional property. Let's look at the pros and cons.

Why Is Ownership Important In The Great Gatsby
Ownership exists between the tangible and the intangible; while owning objects often devolve into unhappiness and heighten a dangerous materialistic

The pursuit of tangible ownership inevitably leads to a precarious path of dissatisfaction and misery. While the attainment of material goods may have
benefits, it quickly devolves into a twisted desire that spurs the growth of emotions such as greed; this appears mainly when the ownership of tangible

Home Ownership In America
THE DESIRE FOR HOME OWNERSHIP
One of the most powerful motivating forces behind the movement of people from
Europe and elsewhere to the United States, and from the east to the west within the
United States, has been the desire to own property and a home of one's own. In fact, this society is distinctive in how widespread home ownership is
here.
It's easy enough to understand why immigrants to America wanted to own land.
Many of them were unable to own land in their countries of origin, and America of– fered not only private ownership, but in many cases and for some
time very inex– pensive land, along with the freedom to enjoy it. Why, then, has this desire to own realproperty persisted through the generations?

Fee Simple Ownership Of Property
Property ownership comes with many rights and obligations. There are many different ways to obtain property and convey it to others. The greatest
interest someone can have in property, in terms of degree of control over that property, is known as fee simple ownership. Fee simple ownership is also
the most common interest in land. It is important to understand the obligations associated with property ownership before purchasing land or an estate.
There are many rights associated with fee simple ownership of property. The owner of has the right possess and control the property. The right to quiet
enjoyment also comes with the ownership of property, this means that the owner is entitled to exclude trespassers from their property. However, the...

However, there are a few ways owners can limit their ownership. The first way is to grant an easement to someone to use part of the land for a
specified purpose, for example, if an electric company needs to install cables on someone's property the landowner can grant them an easement.
Granting an easement does not deprive the owner of their property, it simply allows a part of the land to be used for a specific purpose. An easement
that grants the right to do something is an affirmative easement, in contrast a negative easement would require a landowner to refrain from certain
actions. For example, the owner could not increase the height of their dwelling as it would block the light from entering the holder of the negative
easements property. Easements are not permanent, they may be terminated by a written agreement between the property owner and the easement
holder. Licenses are similar to easements in that they grant permission to use the property in a specific way. The main difference between licenses and
easements are that licenses are revocable by the granter at any time and may be granted orally. Finally, there are covenants which are promises made by
the landowner with respect to the use of their land. Like easements, there are positive and negative covenants. Positive covenants involve promising to
do something, such as paying homeowner association dues and negative covenants are promises to refrain from something, such as housing a business

Brownfield development is the process of redevelopment on previously developed lands that are abandoned, closed or underused (Adams, De Sousa &
Tiesdell, 2010). While some brownfield can be too contaminated, most brownfields are re–useable to create great value once cleaned up. And in this
world of scarce resources, brownfield development becomes crucial as we focus more on sustainability and resource optimizing. While factors of
rising awareness of urban sustainability issues, presence of derelict/disused urban space and society's rising demand for 'urban lifestyle' promotes
brownfield development, the process to transfer from greenfield development to brownfield development can be very complicated. In this paper, I will

The implementation significantly increased the percentage of brownfield development from 50% in 1995 to 60% in 1998 (Adams, 2004). This clearly
shows the effectiveness of regulations on brownfield development. However, DETR (mentioned in Adams, 2004) point out we should not be overly
positive about the apparent statistic results because they might not be 100% reflective of true facts due to existing loopholes in the structure of the
policy. Those loopholes are failure to distinguish rural and urban brownfield development, failure to leave out conversion of good buildings, and failure
to recognize the economic effects of housing downturn (DETR as mentioned in Adams, 2004). Generally speaking, location control does promote and
increase urban brownfield residential development. But, attention can easily be distracted (Adams, 2004). This is also consistent with founding by
Adams, De Sousa & Tiesdell (2010).
In addition, while location control gave urban brownfield residential development a base start, permitting certain amounts of compulsory purchase of
brownfield sites (Adams, De Sousa & Tiesdell, 2010) boosted urban brownfield development. This would be another example of government
promoting brownfield development by making site assembling easier for developer. This course of action becomes more significant as we get to

Why News Ownership Affects Free Press And Press Censorship...
The importance of news media ownership has been both a contemporary and historical issue that has had significant effects on the way in which the
press operates and influences society. This essay examines why the ownership of the news media is of importance to society. In order to examine this
fully the essay will discuss why news ownership affects free press and press censorship, why it can be seen to change the nature of political
communication, and why is it is important that it affects the circuit of communication and the ways in which the public receive news.
One reason why it matters who owns the news media is that is can be seen to affect the levels of free press within a state, determining therefore how
regulated or censored information becomes. The freedom of the press is a factor that is highly influenced by the organisations and public figures that
own the news media. Government ownership of the media, particularly authoritarian regimes, can be seen to limit the levels of free press a country
has. Barker (2006, p. 5) argues that "authoritarian regimes regularly try to censor or control the mass media's provision of vision and information". His
argument therefore suggests that if the state has a strong control of the news media, they are more easily able to alter the information that the public
receive. For example in North Korea, newspapers, such as "the official party mouthpiece Rodong Sinmun, are all owned by the state" (BBC, 2011).
This therefore allows the

Ownership Can Build One's Sense Of Self Identity
Ownership is the act and state of having something under your control or possession. What we own, can in fact alter the development of self identity.
Aristotle claims that owning tangible objects help to build moral character, while Jean–Paul Sartre proposes that ownership extends beyond to
intangible things as well. One's sense of self can be a reflection to what one owns, whether it is a tangible or not.
The ownership can lead to gaining of maturity and responsibility. Responsibility is not a skill one can learn without experiences. For example,
owning a pet can develop your sense of character. Owning my dog helped me develop life lessons such as responsibility, compassion, and even
bereavement. Being an owner, I had to ensure my dog would I eventually developed intangible skills that come with the ownership of what I possess
that is tangible. As a pet owner, it provided me with a sense of responsibility. A pet is in the hands of its owner and relies on the owner for protection

Individuals may compare the concept of memories to the acquisition of clothes. Due to aging, one must keep buying clothes. Some clothes still fit
after years, while some are kept for the personal value, while most are thrown or given away over time. Memories are identical to the constant
cycle of the accession of different articles of clothing within a wardrobe. The sentimental values of the clothes we never wear, is something we can

Essay on The Many Benefits of Pet Ownership
"A dog is a man's best friend" goes much deeper than the phrase might initially imply. Recently many medical journals have begun to identify with the
many and varied benefits of pet ownership. Men have always relied upon animals for work, transportation, and survival. As times have changed, man
has begun to appreciate a different bond with animals. Gone are the days of animals running free outside around the homestead, for now animals are
allowed inside and are considered by many to be an integral part of our daily lives! Medical studies have found that animals have a much greater

Pets can fill a void in an owner's life, by allowing them to nurture something and receive a sense of satisfaction. Socially pets have become so much
a part of our daily lives that they are often treated as if they were children, some lucky pets even attend daily play sessions, and are treated to
extreme indulgence; all to make their owner feel as if they were an infant or a child. Blind owners rely on their seeing eye dogs to guide them around
wherever they go; they are trained to guide them past and around obstacles. The National Institute of Health states, "More than half of all U.S.
households have a companion animal. Pets are more common in households with children, yet there are more pets than children in American
households. There are more than 51 million dogs, 56 million cats, 45 million birds, 75 million small mammals and reptiles, and uncounted millions of
aquarium fish" (np). Many movie stars and rich and famous people have begun using pets as a status symbol. Millions of dollars are spent finding the
perfect and most valuable pet even to the extent that the original breed of animal has become unrecognizable or even extinct. This need for high status
and perfection has resulted in safety risks to both pets and the people they live with. Inbreeding and tampering with cross genes in animals often result
in an animal of inferior security and emotional stability, thus resulting in an aggressive and violent temperament. In an attempt to

Ownership And Sense Of Self
What does it mean to you when you own something? Is it the gratification that makes it rewarding? Or is it the cost and struggle it took to buy it? Or
how about what others think about your object? Ownership and sense of self comes together as a perception of how we see ourself being an owner.
Buying something from a store or from a person makes it yours. When you buy something you're paying for it in money that you earned which then
makes it yours. People might say if they take an object or find it, the object then belongs to them. They would be wrong since it would still belong to
that person even though they have it in their possession.

A zoonotic disease is a disease that can be transmitted from animal to human (Weber, 2005 p485). Different pets put people at different health
related risk. Birds can can carry and spread germs to people. Some species may carry Salmonella or Chlamydia psittaci. It is unlikely to get sick
from dogs and cats however, they may still be a health risk due to germs they may carry. These germs may result in a bacterial disease if not dealt
with properly. Fish, amphibians, and reptiles all put you at risk for Salmonella (Weber, 2005). With all these infections and diseases lingering on
pets, young children and people with decrease immune systems are in danger. Also if pets aren't cleaned after and groomed properly this could
increase the risk. In the United States, over 350,000 people are treated for bites every year and it is mostly children that are affected (Esposito,

Introduction
This paper aims to discuss private ownership and account for the origins of private ownership as well as comparing and contrasting these accounts
through the ideas of Grotius in his two publications; The Freedom of the Sea (1609) and The Laws of War and Peace (1625). In addition, the paper
aims to discuss the extent to which Grotius argues for The Natural Right of Property Ownership.
Through studying these works of Grotius in the manner outlined above, it will become clear that the overall idea is that the common ideology that
private ownership means that owners can do whatever they wish with what they own is incorrect. Both private and common ownership are established
on the right to alienate a thing regardless of the number of people that have possession of the thing. In the case of common ownership social and legal
norms can make the ownership of a thing subject to group ownership. In the case of private ownership these social and legal norms are not applied
although things are owned. Regional social circumstances determine which type of ownership provides the highest benefit to the owners where as

Ownership In The Great Gatsby
Defining the idea of "ownership" is the act, state, or right of possessing something. Drawing from different philosophers who have studied the human
condition, they look at the principle of ownership in relation to one's sense of self. Aristotle claims that tangible ownership is fundamental to
developing a person's character. However, in Jean–Paul Sartre's view, he claims that the "existence precedes the essence". Sartre is saying how there is
an equal balance between tangible and intangible items, but the existence is more important than nature since man can choose what they define himself
to be. I believe that the idea of ownership relates to both intangible and tangible objects to find a sense of self. It is possible for an individual ... Show

In the Great Gatsby, we are able to see how shallow and materialistic the upper class can be. They find a sense of self through the tangible items
that they possess. Tom Buchanan is an example of where he defines himself through his wealth to express how he is better than everyone. He
deliberately tries to show off all of his expensive belongings, so that he can make a statement on his standard of living. However, Tom sacrifices
his own moral character by finding a sense of self through his fortune. He finds no guilt when he is expressing infidelity towards his wife Daisy, but
when the idea of Daisy having an affair with Gatsby transpires he becomes outraged and demands a confrontation. Although Tom is a reckless
narcissist, not all individuals that possess a fortune are shallow. Looking at contemporary society, Bill Gates is a prominent figure that has an
immense wealth but does not define himself through it. He donates to countless charities that develop his moral character and is viewed by his
actions and not by his wealth. He finds pride through his charitable actions and is an important example of proving how different views of ownership

The Importance Of Ownership And Intangible Objects
Ownership is the act and state of having something in control or possession. Aristotle claims that owning tangible objects help to build moral character,
while Jean–Paul Sartre proposes that ownership extends beyond to include intangible things such as skill or knowledge. Different objects can have
varying effects on the development of self identity, leading us to who we grow as a person. A sense of self can be a reflection to what we own, whether
it is a tangible or not. Ownership of intangible and tangible objects play a vital role for the growth of self identity, as it teaches crucial morals in life to
develop personal character.
Through the ownership of tangible objects, we as humans, have the ability to attain a perception of responsibility and the development of moral
character. Ownership provides a guide towards important life lessons such as maturity and responsibility, which eventually contributes to shaping

Property Ownership In My Woods
Property ownership is a positive aspect because it can teach strong values. While E.M. Forster does point out some of the negative aspects of property
ownerships in his essay "My Woods". However, I believe that with property ownership comes many beneficial opportunities that cannot be achieved if
property is rented from others rather than owned. Land ownership and home ownership is a major aspect of property there are many people who do
own land. Property ownership of land is a good thing. The benefits of land and home ownership is that it can create a sense of security, freedom, as
well as stability. Land ownership and home ownership is beneficial because it can create a sense of security in the owners' mind. The way that the

Also they are allowed to decide if they would like any pets and the type of pet it will be. Where as a person who rents land, or home is to depend
on the ruler the landlord holds on the pet policy. When it comes to home ownership the freedom a land and home owner has over someone who
rents verses owns property outright is they can freely decide without permission. For example, if they would like to build a fence or paint a room
in their home they are free to do so where as a renter cannot they must first obtain permission from the landlord. To own your own land and or
home it gives stability within a household in my personal opinion. When someone owns their own land and or house they are not constantly
moving. Constant changing of homes due to lack of land and home ownership can leave many with chaos in their regular life especial for parent
who are within school age. Ownership of a land and or home gives a place to go home to on a constant basis in which you do not have to worry
about the chance of eviction or when the lease needs to be renewed. This gives the stability of creating a routine in a person's daily

Definition Essay On Ownership
Ownership Essay
Your neighbors may own multiple vehicles. You may own an Iphone 6. Your school mate may own almost every video game ever made. What do you
and these people have in common? You all own objects. But what does it mean to "own" something? Ownership can mean far more than having
possessions with your name on them. Ownership relates to your sense of self and personal identity.
Philosophers like Aristotle and Plato believed that owning tangible items relates to how one sees himself. Being human, we brag about who owns what
and how much of that "what" they own. Some people believe that the more extravagant items they own, the more he,or she, is "worth". But what does
"owning" something mean? For someone, like a teenager, owning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you own something you worked really hard for, it can teach you to value things more. Working hard for an item you really want allows you to
set targets and strive for the object you desire. For example, a teenager can go out and purchase a vehicle after saving up for many years. It teaches
you that hard work and determination pays off. It's something that you can be proud of and call yours.
Jean–Paul Sartre, a French philosopher, believed that owning something didn't have to come down to owning physical items. What does owning a
very expensive item really mean to you? Having a talent or skill is unique, and unlike tangible items, talents can't be bought and can't be taken away
from you. Having a special gift makes you the person you are and what you are known for. It's something you "own". With it, you're one–of–a–kind and
it makes you feel good about yourself. Ownership of a special talent defines who you are and elevates your self–esteem.
There are many interpretations on what it means to own something. Some people see owning things as a way to show off how much they're worth.
Other people may see owning things as having a capability that other people do not have, like a special gift or skill that makes them unique. Owning
something means being able to call it yours. Whether it's tangible or intangible items, ownership affects your sense of

Explain What The Word Taking Ownership Of Learning Means...
. Explain what the phrase "taking ownership of your learning" means to you.
My perspective about "take ownership of your learning" is, I think "ownership' here is a metaphor refers to your responsibility towards your
learning like if you own it. We all caring about our possessions, for example; if I rented a car It's not my responsibility to find spare parts or to looking
for a reputable garage for service. But if I own the car, then no doubt, all maintains will be my responsibility. From that point of view "take ownership
of your learning" means, care about and be responsible for your learning as one of your possessions. Or stop to be just receiver and start to be a learner

Are you self–motivated to learn and understand; not only driven by grades or external praise?
I think my answer is, yes, I'm self–motivated to learn and understand. Due to my work, as a driver, in a research center that gave me the opportunity to
visit many fieldworks, in my country, which was incentive to me.
Do you push yourself to think deeper about issues and draw connections to your personal, academic, and professional lives?
Sometimes I try to think deeper about issues, particularly, in my personal and professional lives. But about the academic I'm not sure. Because of the
lack of my English's vocabularies and phrases. Which, many times, force me to short cut my thoughts.

Medical studies have found that animals have a much greater
intelligence level than originally thought. Through proper training and experience, animals are not only household pets, but also are becoming an

Ownership
What do we value in our lives? Ownership is singularly based on how much you care and cherish. You can value anything, a possession, skill,
characteristic, or even a friend. But you own it only if what you value, makes you who you are. If your ownership helps develop your consistently
into a better person or even contribute to others than you truly own it. As Plato and Aristotle proposed, owning tangible objects can develop moral
character. Owning something can simply mean having a certain possession: such as a flashy car, if you buy a Lamborghini there you might "attract"
females to you because they associate that nice car to you. While driving a beaten down Volkswagen may repel possible on–lookers from wanting to
know you. But are these vehicles part of their owners? The man with the Lamborghini may have a sense of entitlement and boastful pride, meanwhile
the Volkswagen owner could be content. These objects have a direct correlation with their owners by showing thevalue, cherishment, care, and love. ...

Identity And Ownership Research Paper
What is ownership? Ownership is the right, state, or process of possessing something. What is identity? Identity is the fact of being who or what a thing
is. While it may not be evident, owning something can deeply express the identity go that person. The relationship between ownership and identity can
be exceedingly complex; however, with a strenuous evaluation of what ownership truly means and with deep insight into how they affect each other,
the correlation becomes clear. Since ownership means to possess something, it is an everyday try that most humans can relate to. For example, when a
child is given something for their birthday– a toy– the child now owns the toy. Therefore, owning something brings pride to the owner. Owning

The Regulations Of The Labor Relations Act
Along with the consequences that it would have on urban areas. Goldschmidt also felt that "the regulations of the Labor Relations Act should be
applied to the agricultural sector and that unions should not only be allowed to develop, but should be encouraged". (Goldschmidt). Unfortunately,
the US government did not see the family farm as being an asset by the 1940's so the government fired Goldschmidt and hide his work for many
years. The government also enabled land reforms that allowed corporate entities to take land away from family farms in order to create large
industrial farms. The fact that the government was unwilling to follow Goldschmidt's recommendations, has caused, according to Goldschmidt the
monopolization of the agricultural industry by agribusinesses. The result of this has been to weaken small farmers which has led to a dependence on
corporate farms. The demographic the was hit the hardest by the decline of farming and land reforms were the African American farmers. According
to there were 746,717 black farmers in the United States in 1900, by 1910 that number had went up 19.6 percent, equaling 893, 377. Then after 1920
when the number of African American farmers was at its peak of 925,710, there is a sudden drop in African American farmers. This was because many
African American farmers were pushed into abandoning the farms their families were gifted by the United States during the Reconstruction. They
accomplished this by depriving the former

Reflection At the first glance to ownership in pharmacy subject, I realized that it's a huge experience to have. Many thoughts had popped up to my
mind with many questions. What is the best idea for me to start with? Where should I start? What knowledge do I need to have? How will I finance
my project? Is it possible to start my ownership project now or should I wait? By reading more and more about ownership in pharmacy through this
course, I came up with a good vision on the subject. I knew that there are many types of ownerships in pharmacy such as independent pharmacy,
specialty pharmacy, MTM services, consulting pharmacy, and more. Then, I have read about being successful, and what I need, to be successful at
ownership. Hence, gaining more skills, such as management, innovation, motivation, and commitment will help me in my career plan. Because
ownership needs more patience and more support, only hard workers are capable to succeed at ownership. After that, I have read about how to start
a new business, and I knew that it's very important to get an expert advice. It doesn't matter how much experience I have in pharmacy, because I still
need an expert advice. More simply, there are other sides of ownership that I don't know such as laws and regulations, or things related to accounting.
Definitely, I will need an advice from a lawyer and accountant. I may need also to ask a consultancy services company to cooperate with me. Finding,

Business Ownerships : An Owner Of A Business
Business Ownerships Anytime you start up a business or you take over another company there are multiple things you must do to get started. One
of the major things one must do is decide on what type of ownership you want. There are many different types of business ownerships out there, but
some will benefit you more than others. In this paper you will be learning about the difference two types of business ownerships you can have. The
main point of the paper is to help someone that's going to become an owner of a business be able to do what's best for not only them, but also what
will be best for the business. Sole trader ship and partnership are the two best ownership because they will benefit the owner and business more by
going by what the company stands for. There are two main types of ownerships: sole trader ship and partnerships. Some may say that the only
difference in the two are that the business is either ran by one single person or by two or more people, but in reality there is a big difference. For
example, a sole trader ships could be a business like a market stalls, hairdressers or corner shops; partnerships could be a business like a solicitors
firms and accounting firms. Also, while deciding which ownership is right for the business you have to look at the over view of what type of business
you're getting into. Sole trader ships only financial income is from the business and/or bank loans (types of business structures). Partnerships can

Persuasive Essay On Pet Ownership
According to the 2017–2018 National Pet Owners survey, about 68% of American households own a pet. Someone could view pet ownership from
many perspectives, on the one hand some pets are costly and someone may have an allergy to them, but on the other had pets can bring an
immeasurable amount of love and joy to a family. Owning a pet can give their pet owner so much compassion, and help them learn responsibility, and
how to priorities their tasks. Someone can not teach compassion, but something everyone must have to understand and respect others. A pet can give
their pet owner so much of love and joy. When I get stressed out my cat, Smokey, comes over to me and sit right on top of whatever I happen to try to
work on at the moment. This even happens when I get right into the middle of my homework and she thinks I need a break so she lays down right in the
middle of my homework. Many types of pets that will show someone compassion, but when it comes to dogs they seem to really know when their
owner gets upset and need help. Duke, my nine year old labrador, gets so excited to see me when I get off the bus that he knows the time that the
bus comes and if he is outside then he will run to the bus and wait there for my brother and me to get off. When I go down to the barn to think the
chickens will heard around my feet and not leave me alone until I get their food for them and cracking up because they jump all over me. Whether
someone has a dog or a lizard, normally they are

A Study On Corporate Ownership And News Bias
Martin Gilens and Craig Hertzman at Yale University, have conducted a study on the Corporate ownership and news bias through the newspaper
coverage of the 1996 Telecommunication Act addressing the claim: "Financial interests of corporate owners lead America's news bureaus to downplay
the significant issues surrounding the growing concentration of ownership of the country's mass media" (Martin and Hertzman, 2000.) These
researchers affirm that it is impossible to think of any democratic society deprived of the mass media because in such utopist environment the citizens
would miss the information they need to evaluate the desirability or undesirability of public choices and assess the value of political leaders and social
conditions. They state that the essential role of the press is what leads critics to wonder about the danger derived from the mass media concentration.
Their case study focuses on one part of the 1996 Act that specifically removed restrictions on TV stations ownership with the result to benefits
companies that already owned many TV stations at the disadvantage of those that did not. They underline that the similarity of interests in the
conglomerate has reduced diversity in the news and enhanced self–interest bias. The conclusion of this serious study, performing multivariate analysis
tests, of which the researchers provide exhaustive data, translates to the relevant issue of a systematically slanted press aimed at improving its own

The Total Cost Of Ownership
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO, or total ownership cost TOC), is a concept that is progressively used in business worldwide. The principle of the
concept is that the full costs of a conclusion should be assessed, rather than concentrating on the original purchase price of software and hardware, for
instance. The Total Cost of Ownership term is somewhat new but the methodology is comparable to concepts of life cycle costs and other valid
economic principles for appropriately evaluating business decisions. Total Cost of Ownership is at times used to define the full costs of one choice. In
other occasions, Total Cost of Ownership is used to label the contrast of full costs of two contending alternatives. With whichever practice, the approach

Let us consider the present value, there are numerous ways to contemplate organizing or categorizing the relevant costs.
Some analysts acclaim ascertaining direct costs such as things like: software and hardware purchase price v. indirect costs such as: training and
relocation costs. One could see it beneficial to also contemplate about costs the initial costs equally obvious direct in addition to indirect costs. Some
of the reason this discrepancy is important is that a conclusion should not depend on the nominal sum of the costs, but instead on the present value of
the costs. A dollar now has more value than a dollar one year from now; revenue today is more imperative revenue one year in the future. The pertinent
interest rate or discount rate is the businesses marginal cost of capital conforming to a level of risk corresponding with the venture.
Consider a small business is planning on applying a new billing system. The key components of the system will be: software, hardware, preliminary
training, additional transition costs, successive software upgrades, subsequent training, constant operations and maintenance. It has zero salvage. The
billing system is anticipated to last 3 years. The businesses investment company advises that the forward–thinking cost of principal is 15%. The

Compare And Contrast The Classical Production Approach
Schoors et al. (2010) state that according to the classical production approach total deposits and total loans are treated as output, and labour and
physical capital are used as inputs. As we cite Ferrier and Lovell (1990) emph {"The production approach views banks as 'producing' demand deposits,
time and savings deposits, commercial loans, real estate loans, and instalment loans, using capital, labor, and materials to do so."} Next to this classical
production approach, Schoor et al. (2010) mention the intermediation approach introduced by Sealey and Lindley (1977) in their paper: emph{"Inputs,
outputs, and a theory of production and cost at depository financial institutions."} In this paper they introduce earning assets as outputs and deposits as
inputs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the research paper of Schoors et al. (2010), they prefer the classic production approach because in the intermediation approach, the deposits are
neglected as an import output. In order to follow our own rationale, we prefer to apply the classic production approach since deposits are neglected in
the intermediation approach and our dataset consists only out of deposit banks. Also Ferrier and Lovell (1990) argue using the production approach if
you are measuring the cost efficiency of banks because it takes only the operating costs of banking into account. On the other hand, the intermediation
approach is preferable if you want to investigate the viability of banks since it is concerned with the overall costs of banking. But since we want to
conduct a comprehensive and thorough research on this subject, we will also include a stochastic frontier model based on the intermediation approach
inputs and outputs in our robustness checks

The Ownership Of Human Tissues
Ownership of human tissues Currently, there is no established regulation addressing the ownership of human tissues. Court approached the issue in
significantly divergent forms, both defending that we possess our tissues and concluding that we do not at all. The topic is pertinent to science in
general, and not only to neuroscience, as its implications heavily affect scientific research.
This paper will build its background with famous court cases, and propose a policy that enforces self–ownership. Then, it will discuss the consequences
of the policy, such as the impact on the trust between patients and doctors, and the challenges this intervention could face.
Ownership
John Locke was the first philosopher to state ownership of the human body. He wrote in The Second Treatise on Government:
"Though the earth, and all inferior creatures be common to all men, yet every man has a property in his own person. This nobody has any right to but
himself. The labour of his body, and the work of his hands, we may say, are properly his. Whatsoever then he removes out of the state that Nature
hath provided, and left it in, he hath mixed his labour with, and joined to it something that is his own, and thereby makes it his property". "From all
which it is evident, that though the things of Nature are given in common, man (by being master of himself, and proprietor of his own person, and the
actions or labour of it) has still in himself the great foundation of property;..." (Locke, 1978

One's Status In Nineteenth Century Rio De Janeiro
One's status in nineteenth century Rio de Janeiro had a huge impact on all areas of their life. It could allow them to have full or limited access to
institutions, it determined their employment opportunities, determined if they can participate in political matters, and even determined where in the
city they were allowed to travel. The three biggest factors that shaped a person's position in society were family status or ancestry, property and slave
ownership, and occupation
A person's family status and ancestry was probably the most important determinant of one's status. In nineteenth century Rio de Janeiro, a person was

Since young elites "would automatically be trained for medicine, the law, or the priesthood, and he would be introduced to the imperial court and
enjoy the high status of a courtier," occupation was not a primary status determinant for the high status people (Karasch 69). If someone was a
merchant, clerk, shopkeeper, tavern owner, craftsman or artisan, than they were of middle status. These jobs were mostly known as middle status
jobs because they required manual labour. Even if a person was to make a decent amount of money from one of these jobs, they would remain in
the middle status because their job required manual labour, which was looked down on. If a person's occupation was being a soldier, sailor,
fisherman, or sailor, they were of low status, and then at the very bottom of society were "beggars, vagrants, scavenges, and the poorest of the poor,
mainly people of color and ex–slaves who owned not even one slave" (Karasch 70). It was rare for someone to change their status based on their
occupation. If a person of low status was the slave of a middle status worker, then they were typically the only people who, after being freed, could
raise their status. Middle status owners often taught their low status slaves the skills needed for their occupation, and then, once that slave was freed,
they had the skills needed to work in that field and raise their status from low to

Benefits Of Pet Ownership Essay
“I think I could turn and live with the animals. They are so placid and self–contained,'; writes American poet Walt Whitman (Schellenberg
1). Yes, pets have been part of human culture throughout history, and in American households, they are more common than children. It is reported that
58% of U.S. households have at least one pet, whereas only 35% have children (Whitaker; Witherell 76). Owners spend billions of dollars each year on
pet food, accessories, and veterinary care, but apparently pets give back, too (Schellenberg 1). Medical studies show that pet companionship offers
concrete health benefits (Simross 14). While only in the past few decades have scientists become interested in the benefits of pets on human health ...

A recent study at UCLA found that 37% of Medicare patients who owned pets visited their doctor less frequently and seemed to tolerate stressful events
better (Whitaker). These are only the physical benefits.
“Being with animals. . .is just good for our hearts and souls. We . . .know that animals can lower blood pressure and help us live
longer. But there is a whole other spiritual level there,'; writes Susan McElroy, author of Animals as Teachers and Healers (Simross 15). The
psychological benefits include reduced mental distress, a sense of security, lower rates of depression, and higher morale (Schellenberg 2). Serving as
an effective stress reducer, “stroking an animal is calming,'; says UCLA psychologist Dr. Judith Siegel (Witherell 77). Patients who
watched a fish tank before going into surgery did as well as those who underwent hypnosis to reduce anxiety and discomfort (Schellenberg 2). The
benefits are obvious no matter if the animal has four legs, wings, fins, or even scales.
Why such beneficial effects? “Ironically, the most common reason people give for not having pets–having to care for them–is one of the
reasons pets improve health. Pets require that you ‘extend’ yourself when you normally wouldn’t, and for people
who are ill or just want better health, pets turn them into ‘care

Pros And Cons Of Fractional Ownership

your time at a seminar or webinar? These are the allures of a timeshare racket. Now timeshares are for the most part scams, however, there is another
similar system known as fractional ownership. This is the opposite of a timeshare in which you actually own a piece of the property as opposed to the
right to use it at some point during the year. Now while the allure of a fractional ownership may sound appealing there are a few things to consider
before buying a fractional property. Let's look at the pros and cons.

In this week's reading, Chapter 4: Predictable Conflicts in the Intersections, discussed the dynamics of conflicts that exist within the family business as it relates to family, ownership, and management, which is also known as the three–circle model. This model derives from a breakdown of the two key elements of business, management and ownership. When the family is combined with business it is highly likely for paradoxes to stem from one of the three circles and the conflict becomes and paradoxes become more complex because the three circles are so closely connected and dependent upon each other. According to the reading, a problem, or a situation that reflects perplexity or difficulty is a result of underlying conflicts. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is why is it would be beneficial to the family business to be proactive and put in place policies and procedures and to work hard at keeping the lines of communication very clear between the owner, family and the management personnel. All three parties need each other to insure the business is productive. Even with policies and procedures in place, situations always arise that require policies and procedures to be amended and adjusted in order to protect the brand and the health of the business. The information present is very helpful to future conflict intervention professional because the dynamics of the conflicts that family businesses face are more complex and require the mediator to understand the roles, functions and duties of the family, owner, and management personnel. The authors' presentation of the concepts introduced in this week's reading was very organized, detailed and easy to follow. The examples present in the charts for each of the three circles really paints the picture really clear for the reader. This chapter makes it very clear that paradoxes may have different origins and they need to be classified properly in order to adequately manage the paradoxes. The authors say it best, " The most effective means of handling these problems is to analyze the conflicts associated with them for inherent contradictions, then to dig deeper, in search of the primary underlying paradox and ultimately to address ... • 4. Rhetorical Strategies Of ' The Digital Age Has Destroyed... Loss of Rights: Rhetorical Strategies in Groskopf's "The digital age has destroyed the concept of ownership, and companies are taking advantage of it" The digital age is changing our rights on the subject of ownership: less and less people know whether they can copy, sell or even lend their digital goods. An author named, Christopher Groskopf, wrote "The digital age has destroyed the concept of ownership, and companies are taking advantage of it," published in 2016 in the Quartz, and he argues that intuition has fallen apart when talking about ownership of digital goods and that companies use their fine prints to take benefit from this. Groskopf uses a survey, reputable sources, facts and statistics in order to appeal to similar feelings and experiences in her adult readers; however, toward the end of the article, he weakens his argument by contradicting himself. In his article, Groskopf first sets the stage by letting the reader take a survey to let them see if they know the type of ownership a reader would have over an example of a digital book. His survey then outlines the uneven distribution of answers given showing that most of his readers are wrong about digital ownership rights. Groskopf continues by stating that most of the rights are outlined in the Terms of Service (TOS) of the selling company, a statistic from a reputable source showing that the majority of buyer's do not read the TOS and some examples demonstrating how companies can take advantage of this ... If the service provider is uncomfortable with this inquiry there may be business reason why their service is not intended for data migration. A gray area in many assessment service agreements is defining the deliverable; i.e. hard copy reports. If the deliverable is a PDF, then the electronic records may be retained for leverage by the service provider, or if they offer their data; it may be unusable. Drilling down into the detail here can save organizations thousands of dollars in re–inspection expenses. Preventing Lost Electronic Records Building owners have realized the value of inspection records in some cases only after terminating a service provider. Then, finding the service provider demanded a significant fee to transfer the electronic records, the transfer request was ignored, or the data which was the centerpiece of expensive multiple year service agreement was upon closer inspection, kept in a unusable data format, or was built specifically for the firm using it. Historical inspection records save data entry costs when as built information is in place. The facility sizes, construction types, sizes rarely change. Once documented, structured correctly, updating conditions can be done in less than half the time required to set–up the original database. When surveys and condition assessments cost thousands of dollars, there is a good reason to insure inspection information ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Concept Of Total Cost Of Ownership Or Tco Introduction: The concept of total cost of ownership or TCO (Cavinato 1991, 1992), life cycle costing (Jackson and Ostrom 1980), product life cycle costs (Shields and Young 1991), and total cost of (Ellram and Siferd 1993) are all related. There is no unique definition of TCO, since the meaning of TCO is dependent on individual and function of organization (Ellram, 1994). TCO concept suggests that supply managers adopt a long–term perspective, rather than short–term, for accurate evaluation of buying conditions. Three ideas formulate procurement functions: 1)Cost must be examined from a long–term perspective and include costs other than initial purchase price. 2)Consider the impact of other business functions related to a specific purchase. 3)Understand & measure, the impact of "non–value added" costs like service costs, failure costs, administrative costs, and maintenance (Ellram, 1994) associated with the purchase. Depending on the goals of the project, a TCO analysis supports decisions on operational, tactical, or strategic level. Today, TCO analysis is used to support acquisition and planning decisions for a wide range of assets that bring significant maintenance or operating costs across ownership life. Total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis is centre stage when management is faced with acquisition decisions for computing systems, vehicles, buildings, laboratory equipment, medical equipment, factory machines etc. TCO analysis for these kinds of assets is in ... Home Ownership In America THE DESIRE FOR HOME OWNERSHIP One of the most powerful motivating forces behind the movement of people from Europe and elsewhere to the United States, and from the east to the west within the United States, has been the desire to own property and a home of one's own. In fact, this society is distinctive in how widespread home ownership is here. It's easy enough to understand why immigrants to America wanted to own land. The greatest interest someone can have in property, in terms of degree of control over that property, is known as fee simple ownership. Fee simple ownership is also the most common interest in land. It is important to understand the obligations associated with property ownership before purchasing land or an estate. There are many rights associated with fee simple ownership of property. The first way is to grant an easement to someone to use part of the land for a specified purpose, for example, if an electric company needs to install cables on someone's property the landowner can grant them an easement. Granting an easement does not deprive the owner of their property, it simply allows a part of the land to be used for a specific purpose. An easement that grants the right to do something is an affirmative easement, in contrast a negative easement would require a landowner to refrain from certain actions. For example, the owner could not increase the height of their dwelling as it would block the light from entering the holder of the negative easements property. Easements are not permanent, they may be terminated by a written agreement between the property owner and the easement holder. Licenses are similar to easements in that they grant permission to use the property in a specific way. The main difference between licenses and easements are that licenses are revocable by the granter at any time and may be granted orally. Finally, there are covenants which are promises made by the landowner with respect to the use of their land. Like easements, there are positive and negative covenants. • 14. Impacts of government Regulation, Land Ownership, and... 1 Introduction Brownfield development is the process of redevelopment on previously developed lands that are abandoned, closed or underused (Adams, De Sousa & Tiesdell, 2010). While some brownfield can be too contaminated, most brownfields are re–useable to create great value once cleaned up. And in this world of scarce resources, brownfield development becomes crucial as we focus more on sustainability and resource optimizing. While factors of rising awareness of urban sustainability issues, presence of derelict/disused urban space and society's rising demand for 'urban lifestyle' promotes brownfield development, the process to transfer from greenfield development to brownfield development can be very complicated. This clearly shows the effectiveness of regulations on brownfield development. However, DETR (mentioned in Adams, 2004) point out we should not be overly positive about the apparent statistic results because they might not be 100% reflective of true facts due to existing loopholes in the structure of the policy. Those loopholes are failure to distinguish rural and urban brownfield development, failure to leave out conversion of good buildings, and failure to recognize the economic effects of housing downturn (DETR as mentioned in Adams, 2004). Generally speaking, location control does promote and increase urban brownfield residential development. But, attention can easily be distracted (Adams, 2004). This is also consistent with founding by Adams, De Sousa & Tiesdell (2010). In addition, while location control gave urban brownfield residential development a base start, permitting certain amounts of compulsory purchase of brownfield sites (Adams, De Sousa & Tiesdell, 2010) boosted urban brownfield development. This would be another example of government promoting brownfield development by making site assembling easier for developer. This course of action becomes more significant as we get to section 3. • 15. Why News Ownership Affects Free Press And Press Censorship... The importance of news media ownership has been both a contemporary and historical issue that has had significant effects on the way in which the press operates and influences society. This essay examines why the ownership of the news media is of importance to society. In order to examine this fully the essay will discuss why news ownership affects free press and press censorship, why it can be seen to change the nature of political communication, and why is it is important that it affects the circuit of communication and the ways in which the public receive news. One reason why it matters who owns the news media is that is can be seen to affect the levels of free press within a state, determining therefore how regulated or censored information becomes. The freedom of the press is a factor that is highly influenced by the organisations and public figures that own the news media. Government ownership of the media, particularly authoritarian regimes, can be seen to limit the levels of free press a country has. Barker (2006, p. 5) argues that "authoritarian regimes regularly try to censor or control the mass media's provision of vision and information". His argument therefore suggests that if the state has a strong control of the news media, they are more easily able to alter the information that the public receive. For example in North Korea, newspapers, such as "the official party mouthpiece Rodong Sinmun, are all owned by the state" (BBC, 2011). This therefore allows the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What we own, can in fact alter the development of self identity. Aristotle claims that owning tangible objects help to build moral character, while Jean–Paul Sartre proposes that ownership extends beyond to intangible things as well. One's sense of self can be a reflection to what one owns, whether it is a tangible or not. The ownership can lead to gaining of maturity and responsibility. Responsibility is not a skill one can learn without experiences. For example, owning a pet can develop your sense of character. Owning my dog helped me develop life lessons such as responsibility, compassion, and even bereavement. Being an owner, I had to ensure my dog would I eventually developed intangible skills that come with the ownership of what I possess that is tangible. Individuals may compare the concept of memories to the acquisition of clothes. Due to aging, one must keep buying clothes. Some clothes still fit after years, while some are kept for the personal value, while most are thrown or given away over time. The sentimental values of the clothes we never wear, is something we can never disregard. For example, I own attire because they have a true personal connection to me. It is proven that having wardrobes under your possession, can create a variety of self identity. These garments preserved a piece of my youth and reflected my personality. Or how about what others think about your object? Ownership and sense of self comes together as a perception of how we see ourself being an owner. Buying something from a store or from a person makes it yours. When you buy something you're paying for it in money that you earned which then makes it yours. People might say if they take an object or find it, the object then belongs to them. They would be wrong since it would still belong to that person even though they have it in their possession. In addition, the paper aims to discuss the extent to which Grotius argues for The Natural Right of Property Ownership. Through studying these works of Grotius in the manner outlined above, it will become clear that the overall idea is that the common ideology that private ownership means that owners can do whatever they wish with what they own is incorrect. Both private and common ownership are established on the right to alienate a thing regardless of the number of people that have possession of the thing. The topic is pertinent to science in general, and not only to neuroscience, as its implications heavily affect scientific research. This paper will build its background with famous court cases, and propose a policy that enforces self–ownership. Then, it will discuss the consequences of the policy, such as the impact on the trust between patients and doctors, and the challenges this intervention could face. Ownership John Locke was the first philosopher to state ownership of the human body. He wrote in The Second Treatise on Government: "Though the earth, and all inferior creatures be common to all men, yet every man has a property in his own person. This nobody has any right to but himself. The labour of his body, and the work of his hands, we may say, are properly his. Whatsoever then he removes out of the state that Nature hath provided, and left it in, he hath mixed his labour with, and joined to it something that is his own, and thereby makes it his property". "From all which it is evident, that though the things of Nature are given in common, man (by being master of himself, and proprietor of his own person, and the actions or labour of it) has still in himself the great foundation of property;..." • 38. One's Status In Nineteenth Century Rio De Janeiro One's status in nineteenth century Rio de Janeiro had a huge impact on all areas of their life. It could allow them to have full or limited access to institutions, it determined their employment opportunities, determined if they can participate in political matters, and even determined where in the city they were allowed to travel. The three biggest factors that shaped a person's position in society were family status or ancestry, property and slave ownership, and occupation A person's family status and ancestry was probably the most important determinant of one's status. In nineteenth century Rio de Janeiro, a person was often born into their status. If they were born into a high status family, then they were of high status, and the same reasoning ... Since young elites "would automatically be trained for medicine, the law, or the priesthood, and he would be introduced to the imperial court and enjoy the high status of a courtier," occupation was not a primary status determinant for the high status people (Karasch 69). If someone was a merchant, clerk, shopkeeper, tavern owner, craftsman or artisan, than they were of middle status. These jobs were mostly known as middle status jobs because they required manual labour. Even if a person was to make a decent amount of money from one of these jobs, they would remain in the middle status because their job required manual labour, which was looked down on. If a person's occupation was being a soldier, sailor, fisherman, or sailor, they were of low status, and then at the very bottom of society were "beggars, vagrants, scavenges, and the poorest of the poor, mainly people of color and ex–slaves who owned not even one slave" (Karasch 70). It was rare for someone to change their status based on their occupation. If a person of low status was the slave of a middle status worker, then they were typically the only people who, after being freed, could raise their status. Middle status owners often taught their low status slaves the skills needed for their occupation, and then, once that slave was freed, they had the skills needed to work in that field and raise their status from low to ... • 39. Benefits Of Pet Ownership Essay “I think I could turn and live with the animals. They are so placid and self–contained,'; writes American poet Walt Whitman (Schellenberg 1). Yes, pets have been part of human culture throughout history, and in American households, they are more common than children. It is reported that 58% of U.S. households have at least one pet, whereas only 35% have children (Whitaker; Witherell 76). Owners spend billions of dollars each year on pet food, accessories, and veterinary care, but apparently pets give back, too (Schellenberg 1). Medical studies show that pet companionship offers concrete health benefits (Simross 14). While only in the past few decades have scientists become interested in the benefits of pets on human health ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A recent study at UCLA found that 37% of Medicare patients who owned pets visited their doctor less frequently and seemed to tolerate stressful events better (Whitaker). These are only the physical benefits. “Being with animals. . .is just good for our hearts and souls. We . . .know that animals can lower blood pressure and help us live longer. But there is a whole other spiritual level there,'; writes Susan McElroy, author of Animals as Teachers and Healers (Simross 15). The psychological benefits include reduced mental distress, a sense of security, lower rates of depression, and higher morale (Schellenberg 2). Serving as an effective stress reducer, “stroking an animal is calming,'; says UCLA psychologist Dr. Judith Siegel (Witherell 77). Patients who watched a fish tank before going into surgery did as well as those who underwent hypnosis to reduce anxiety and discomfort (Schellenberg 2). The benefits are obvious no matter if the animal has four legs, wings, fins, or even scales. Why such beneficial effects? “Ironically, the most common reason people give for not having pets–having to care for them–is one of the reasons pets improve health. Pets require that you ‘extend’ yourself when you normally wouldn’t, and for people who are ill or just want better health, pets turn them into ‘care ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
