Examination Techniques
Coping with Nerves
1. Have normal breakfast on the exam day.
2. Stress makes you mentally alert, so see it positively.
3. Recite Darood Sharif, Ayatul Kursi, and Four Qul.
4. Take five deep breaths.
5. Be comfortable for the exam – proper dressing and shoes.
Dos
1. Ensure you have all the tools; calculator, pens, pencils, watch, etc. Use black pen for
headings and blue for writing.
2. Leave home for examination hall double the time required to reach. For example, half an
hour journey, leave one hour before exam time.
3. Write correctly the examination title, examination number, candidate number, etc.
4. Write full question and part number.
5. Read the whole examination paper at least thrice.
6. Decide questions sequences to be followed.
7. Brainstorm the solution at the end of Answer Script. Writ ROUGH PAGE on that
8. Start with the easiest question first.
9. One question per page.
10. Write neatly, underline the headings and follow the sequence required.
11. Make cancellations and corrections neatly.
12. Insert new words or sentences legibly and in an orderly way.
13. Be careful about spelling and punctuation.
14. One mark question – write one idea in one paragraph of around three lines.
15. Label graph and diagram neatly and comprehensively.
16. Checking and rechecking at the end.
Don’ts
1. No resting adequately before the paper. REST IS THE BEST BEFORE TEST.
2. Not reading instruction on admit card and question papers.
3. Not reading questions carefully.
4. Not planning before attempting the question.
5. Getting stuck over a single question.
6. Not clearly stating the assumptions used.
7. Not being quick enough.
8. Bad presentation and workings.
9. Repeating points.
10. Writing irrelevant points.
