During my tour we were sitting on a bus in the middle of Rome for about 20 minutes not moving. I
asked my director what was going on and she told us that there are just so many people commuting
in the city everyday the traffic is awful. She also told us that they would use underground
transportation but they are unable to find the funding and they are worried it will affect the historic
buildings and structures support. An example she used was affecting the fact that the colosseum was
still standing. What would happen is we affect the ground around it with underground transportation.
