Miley Cyrus : A Modern Society Essay
Miley Cyrus: From One World to Another
Holding the status of a celebrity in modern society is no simple feat, as a constant presence in the
public eye can become quite strenuous on an individual. Living life under a magnifying glass, with
every move and decision analyzed to extensive lengths, celebrities must be strategic and aware of
how they appear before their audience. Thus, if they are not satisfied with public perception, they
must take action to go through an, often calculated, transformation. When understanding a
celebrity's image evolution over time, it is beneficial to consider the concept of "star text". Star text
can be defined as the sum of everything that the public affiliates with a celebrity, including their
body of work, promotion, publicity, and audience practices (Josh Jackson, "Celebrity"). Miley Cyrus
is a well–known example of a celebrity that refused to conform to the status quo, dramatically
changing her star text and completely transforming her perception by the public. Miley Cyrus
represents an artist that felt constrained by the image created by her early career path, leading her to
act in a controversial manner in order to rapidly change public opinion, producing more mature
content and a receiving a mixed reception from her audience. Cyrus's transformation can be
understood through the comparison of her previous and current star texts, as well as an analysis of
her motivations and the general public response.
Miley Cyrus's initial career

History Of Australian Cricket 's Cricket
The history of Australian cricket first began in Australia in December 1803. It was in Sydney where
the first ever test match occurred. Then just two months later in January 1804 the Sydney Gazette
suggested that cricket was already well established around the Sydney state. By 1826, there were
numerous cricket clubs that were established including Currency cricket club, the Military cricket
club and the Australian cricket club. The venues for the matches were at Hyde Park and the
Racecourse. Then just 6 years later in Hobart cricket clubs were formed and later in 1843 in
Launceston. Just before the development of cricket in Launceston in 1838 arguably the most
exclusive and influential cricket club was formed, the Melbourne cricket club. ... Show more content

Intercolonial cricket in Australia started with a visit by cricketers from Victoria to Tasmania to
February in 1851. This match was won by Tasmania by three wickets. There were then another three
matches played between these two teams before 1854. Just 14 years later the first Australian team
travelled and toured England. Most of the cricketers were Aboriginal. Before and after games on this
tour the team demonstrated athletic prowess by throwing boomerangs and spears. A very high
workload was needed to successfully complete the tour and although some of the team members
struggled they were able to push through. There were also further tours by English teams in 1873–
74, on this tour a now known very famous cricketer in WG.Grace was playing. There was also a tour
in 1876–77. This season in 1876 was notable for a match between a combined XI from New South
Wales and Victoria and the touring English men. This was known as the first test match which
Australia won by 45 runs. Just after numerous tours by both Australia and England the origin. In
1878 the rising standards of Australia cricket during the first representative tour of England in 1878.
While the Australians did not play a representative English team on this tour, the efforts of the
players attracted much public interest. When Australia again visited England in 1880 the first test

Pop R & B Group Destiny 's Child Before Embarking On A...
One of the most recognizable figures in contemporary music, Beyoncé rose to fame as the central
member of pop–R&B group Destiny 's Child before embarking on a multi–platinum, record–
breaking solo career in 2001. Booming record sales, Grammy awards, movie roles, and marriage to
rapper/CEO Jay–Z combined to heighten her profile in the 2000s. Billboard named her female artist
of the decade, while the RIAA acknowledged that, through 64 gold and platinum certifications, she
was the decade 's top–selling artist. Once she released her fifth solo album in 2013, it was evident
that the singer, songwriter, and dancer wasn 't merely an entertainer but a progressive artist as well.
Born in Houston in September 1981, Beyoncé+¬ Giselle Knowles began performing at age seven,
winning over 30 local competitions for her dancing and vocal abilities. She joined her cousin Kelly
Rowland and classmates LaTavia Roberson and LaToya Luckett in forming an adolescent vocal
group. Mathew Knowles, Beyoncé+¬ 's father and Rowland 's legal guardian, signed on to be the
girls ' manager, eventually quitting his full–time job to focus on their efforts. This situation would
ultimately lead to the creation of one of the most popular female R&B groups of all time –– Destiny
's Child. Destiny 's Child gained momentum throughout the '90s. They appeared on Star Search in
1992 (under the name Girls Tyme) and weathered several lineup changes before signing to
Columbia in 1997. Four studio albums later, the group

Individualism in Robert Frost's The Road Not Taken,...
Individualism in Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken," Zalman King's "In God's Hands" and James
Baldwin's "Sonny's Blues"
Every society has certain values and generally accepted ways of living that are considered normal.
These principles are what keep societies organized and orderly. Conforming to these principles,
however, is not necessarily the road to happiness for every individual. The main character, Shane, in
In God's Hands, Sonny, in Sonny's Blues, and the speaker in The Road Not Taken, all choose not to
live by what is considered normal, or popular, and are able to find happiness by living as
individuals.
Robert Frost's The Road Not Taken is a poem about the choices every person must make in their
life. The first line of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though it would seem that Sonny's life would be miserable compared to that of his brother, he is
able to find happiness with his unusual lifestyle. Throughout most of the story Sonny seems to be
out of place. He is not accepted by society, and not understood by his family. At the end of the story,
however, when Sonny takes his brother to a blues club to see him perform, Sonny becomes the
successful and popular one, while his brother is the outsider. When Sonny's brother first gets to the
club he realizes that "everyone at the bar knew Sonny". The line, "Here, I was in Sonny's world. Or,
rather: his kingdom. Here, it was not even a question that his veins bore royal blood", shows that
Sonny was happy and respected by the people at the club. Though the life of a heroin addict is
certainly not considered normal, and should not be glorified, Sonny is still able to find happiness in
his individuality.
Zalman King's In God's Hands is a movie about three surfers who are traveling around the world
training to become big wave surfers (meaning that they will use jet skis to be towed into waves in
excess of forty feet). The main character of this story is Shane, who is the best surfer out of the
three, but whose personality is very different from his two companions. Shane is a spiritual loner,
who has made surfing his entire life. While his friends spend much of their lives partying, and
chasing women, Shane spends his

World Poker Tour Heads–Up Hold'em Review There is no getting around the fact that the land–

overshadowed by the online casino realm, as games have not improved beyond whatever land–based
casino games are capable off. What has helped the online casino industry surpass its land–based

So, if you have ever stepped up to the table and played Texas Hold'em before, online World Poker
Tour Heads–Up Hold'em is certainly going to feel pretty familiar. Designed for all table pits and
setups according to the official description, the game uses the same betting setup as traditional Texas
Hold'em, but throws in some unique twists that give the game a few added turns and – arguably – a
modern edge. Looking at the real cash of the matter, this game follows the same line as other Galaxy
Gaming instant play titles. So, the ante and side bets range between $5 and $500 and $1 and $25
respectively. High rollers rejoice, as in World Poker Tour Heads–Up Hold'em you really can slap
down some pretty big wagers if you want.
A Tour to Remember
If it hasn't become abundantly clear yet, online World Poker Tour Heads–Up Hold'em plays just like
the original Texas Hold'em. This means that any player with prior experience can jump into this
game without as much as a second thought. The game gets started when you set up your wager and
related side bets, as after that a player will receive two cards. The dealer will also receive two cards.
Following that it all comes down to the ante, as through each stage of the game (Turn, River, Flop)
the ante level can increase, with various windows to fold being opened up. When the betting and
card dealing is completed, it's a case the best 5–card hand takes the win and the cash that's on the
table.

How Did Justin Brieber's Impact On Fashion
Slowly and beautifully, the world of pop is colliding successfully with the always–welcoming arms
of fashion for the last couple of years, and no one's ever complaining. We have been witnesses of
how distinct music fandom can be used to plump–up sales and patronization, and we, being the most
advent followers of both music and fashion always make it a point to give support through
purchasing. There have been a lot of lukewarm reception for some artists but there's no denying that
this does not stop other pop stars to continue with their fashion sojourn. We can all remember the
likes of Kanye West, Gwen Stefani, Beyoncé, Drake and Zayn Malik to have been successful on this
venture and who would stop Justin Bieber to do the same?
There's no one addicted to pop music who's not also addicted to the once–youngish star in the
making, Justin Bieber. The fandom that Bieber had created during the course of his career is
undeniably one of the best moves that's been done to make his luster even brighter. Now that Justin's
name is established as a pillar of today's music scene, he has all the right to venture out into things
outside singing and performing. Now, lo and behold, the pop icon in Justin Bieber will drop its

Motivation of Lance Armstrong and Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
All of the work, training, health, and passion that Lance Armstrong possesses is amazing. Every
obstacle that he has faced, he has not only survived but has also used to improve his personal and
professional life. In the Tour de France, the goal of every competitor is the same, to prove they are
the best cyclist in the world. Armstrong has proven this seven consecutive times.
Armstrong exemplifies Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs theory regarding one's motivation in life. The
five needs discussed in this theory can be shown as a pyramid. The most basic needs, physiological
needs, form the bottom; followed by security needs, then belongingness needs, esteem needs, with
self–actualization being the top of the pyramid. Motivation evolves ... Show more content on

Armstrong possesses an extraordinary competitive drive that leaves no detail without investigation
in the pursuit of his goal. The cycling environment is very competitive, and every second counts. He
has unique abilities that other competitors do not possess. According to the encyclopedia Wikipedia,
Armstrong "has an extremely high anaerobic threshold and therefore can maintain a higher cadence
(often 120 rpm) in a lower gear than his competitors". His anaerobic threshold and his hearth size is
about 33 percent bigger than average, giving him a great advantage since he can maintain a high
speed even when going up the steepest mountain climbs of the Tour. His performance has been very
successful.
After Armstrong discovered that he had testicular cancer, which had spread to his brain and his
lungs, and enduring surgery and heavy chemotherapy, he still had the courage to come back and win
his first Tour de France. His Performance–to–Outcome Expectancy rating is also close to one. His
determination, not only to survive cancer but also to excel in spite of it, is inspiring. To see
Armstrong ride and to feel his determination, I feel that nothing is impossible.
Armstrong is highly paid for his extraordinary performance outcomes. He had shown other cancer
suffers that they, too, can beat the disease and go on to accomplish great things. He is well loved and
respected. Despite the hard work, stress, fatigue, and diminished

Vacationing is a good way to spend quality time with family, friends, or even alone. What some
people have trouble with is picking out where to take a vacation. Take Disneyland and Disney World
for example. Disneyland and Disney World are both fun places to go, but they are on different sides

The Apartheid Of South Africa
Apartheid in South Africa was the main cause of the 1981 Springbok Tour Protests causing
international resentment. The Apartheid soon became a major controversy within New Zealand, as
many people prefered boycotting in opposition to it, instead of continued sporting contact.
Following the Sharpeville Massacre, the international opposition towards apartheid increased
dramatically, as the United Nations conservative stance changed to strongly oppose it. The massacre
and the system itself caused many nations to institute sporting and trade boycotts onto the South
African government. In 1968, the United Nations called for a sporting boycott against South African
teams as a way to put pressure in the government there to ease apartheid laws. Many New
Zealanders were opposed on a brobdingnagian scale towards apartheid, and the arrival of the
Springbok Team in 1981 forced the nation to confront apartheid head on, as the government has
been previously reluctant to impose sanctions. Apartheid had a lasting effect on New Zealand, and
was the major cause of the Springbok Tour Protests and the debate still rages on today as people
question the most effective way to end regimes around the world, through isolation, or providing
governments political, economic and social incentives to end systems.

Intramuros a Must See
INTRODUCTION:
Less than an hour away from the hustle and bustle of hectic cities surrounding the capital of the
Philippines enters a whole different world. Before knowing the place being referred too, it must be
kept in mind that if every nation is like a human body then it must be right to consent that the
country's capital city is its heart. Therefore as it pulses with life, it also pups the same to other parts
of the nation body and vice versa. This is especially true about Metro Manila which itself is made up
of several smaller cities and a handful of municipalities. But this capital, Manila, also has a heart of
its own: one entirely surrounded by stone walls, one that had once dictated the country's destiny for

Pedicabs can be hired for 100 pesos hour and it can take at least two hours to go and visit the
interesting places. Lastly keeping in mind it is one of the Filipinos ways of addressing the need for
environmental–friendly transportation (HealthBridge, 2010).
The third and one of the best ways to tour Intramuros is hiring a Kalesa. Kalesa is the Tagalog word
for a horse–drawn carriage which came to light in the Philippines during the 18th century by the
Spaniards. At that period, this mode of transportation was used only by the nobles and high ranked
officials who could afford it. But nowadays Kalesa are rarely used in the streets and are commonly
seen in famous tourists' spots and rural areas. Therefore to bring back the reminiscences on how

Gaga's fame was accelerating fast. Her hit song 'Just Dance' was released to the radio in 2008, and
received both popular and commercial acclaim. The song was also nominated for a Grammy Award

her first with the public. In 2011, singles 'Judas', 'Born This Way', and 'Edge of Glory' all reached

This group handles over half a million tourists per year with 20 per cent of them being sport tourists.
The AOT branch that deals with sports tourists in Queensland is located in Brisbane, the capital of
Queensland. AOT has its own accommodation resorts in many sport resorts that are fully equipped
with all tours products and services. However, the increasing number of sports tourists in
Queensland has been a challenge to AOT in trying to service all of them. This increase in market
segment has strained the management of the tours company leading to outsourcing some of the
services such as accommodation and travel agents.

If you are a cross–country skier looking for a relatively easy tour in the Norwegian mountains, one
area worth considering is the hill–country to the west of Espedalen, which is a long valley situated
about 70km to the northwest of the town of Lillehammer.
In the mid–nineteenth century, Espedalen was a very busy place, for it was then the world 's largest
centre for nickel mining, and hundreds of men worked there. But today few signs of that activity
remain, and the valley is peaceful and empty.
You can reach it by taking a morning train from Oslo airport to Lillehammer and then the afternoon
bus to Espedalen. The bus drops off at each of the three hotels in the valley. For logistical reasons, it
's best to arrange to spend both the first and last nights of your holiday at one of these hotels,
because you will almost certainly want to use their transport at the end of the tour, as we will see.
(You might also want to use their transport at the start of the tour, perhaps to shorten the first day.)

Final Project Report on Tourism
CHAPTER – 1
INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
The Travel and Tourism industry is still one of the largest single businesses in world commerce and
its importance is widely recognized. The tourism industry is now one of the largest sectors earning
foreign exchange. In the face of many benefits, many countries have started assigning due weight
age to the tourism industry in their national development agenda. Tourism is an industry that
operates on a massively broad scale: it embraces activities ranging from the smallest sea–side hotel;
to air–lines, multi–national hotel chains and major international tour operators. Originally, non–
traditional industries such as tourism emerged as a solution to strike a balance between ecology and

MEDICAL TOURS
Medical tourism (also called medical travel, health tourism or global healthcare) is a term initially
coined by travel agencies and the mass media to describe the rapidly–growing practice of travelling
across international borders to obtain health care. It also refers pejoratively to the practice of
healthcare providers travelling internationally to deliver healthcare. With world travel market having
undergone significant changes over the last few years a new type of tourist has emerged known as
the Free Independent Traveler or Tourist (FIT). The definition is broad but tends to refer to people
over 35, often, though not necessarily, of above average income who like to travel in small groups,
usually couples. They eschew mass tourism and the holiday package concept promoted by Travel
operators, in favour of a more individualistic approach to travel. There are two implications to the
idea of the Free Independent Traveler. One is important in the context of a marketing niche with a
distinct economic behavior whilst the other concentrates more on the philosophy of travel. This
distinction can be summarized in how they are described. For the economic importance of tourism
and for marketing purposes they are Free Independent Travelers (Upper

When you're in NYC times square is a must see. Going there at night and at day are totally different

Unequal Pay In Tennis Research Paper
Should women receive the same prize money as men in professional tennis? As it stands now, both
men and women garner about the same amount of prize money from winning tournaments.
However, it hasn't always been this way. Only until recently did men and women earn similar prize
money, especially in Grand Slams; where most of the prize money is won. One may argue that
women do no not play as much as men in matches, therefore they shouldn't be earning as much. For
example, women in professional tennis generally play less than their male counterparts; this is
especially true in the Grand Slams because women only have to play best two out of three sets to

During my tour we were sitting on a bus in the middle of Rome for about 20 minutes not moving. I
asked my director what was going on and she told us that there are just so many people commuting
in the city everyday the traffic is awful. She also told us that they would use underground
transportation but they are unable to find the funding and they are worried it will affect the historic
buildings and structures support. An example she used was affecting the fact that the colosseum was
still standing. What would happen is we affect the ground around it with underground transportation.
Additionally, to create more room for development it would require the removal or forests, wetlands
and animal habitats. Finally, the depletion of natural resources is going very quickly in Italy.
Millions of people means millions or means, water, sewerage, and places to stay. This can take away
scenic areas and also the extinction of some or their natural resources by not giving the environment
enough time to produce these resources.
Tourism can also have a positive effect on a country. It creates jobs/businesses for residents, brings
people together from all over the world and generates federal funding for different things. According
to the US World Bank, Italy made about 1.4 trillion dollars in 2014 from tourists all over the world.

Queen
We are the champions. A line from a song sung by millions around the world is just one of the many
legacies that the band known as Queen gave us. This legendary band was one of the huge influences
in the Rock and Roll world in the 1980's and their fame continues to grow.
Queen was formed in 1971 by Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor. In
1973 signed their first recording contract for EMI. That year they released their first album, Queen.
During that same year they had their first major UK tour, and in 1974 they released Queen II. They
made their first US tour, and in November of 1974, released Sheer Heart Attack which quickly
became a hit on both sides of the Atlantic. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later, in 1976, they released A Day at the Races, and gave a free concert in Hyde Park to an
estimated crowd of 200,000 fans. The album was an enormous success, advance orders alone
amounting to over 500,000. 1977 saw two major US tours by the band, and their sixth album, News
of the World, and the legendary double A side single, We Will Rock You and We Are The
Champions. 1978's Jazz, included the huge hit single, Bicycle Race, and Queen toured the US and
Canada. During 1979 they toured Europe and Japan, and released their first live album, Live Killers.
They were also approached to write the score for an upcoming film, Flash Gordon. Before that
however, they released The Game in 1980 which went five times platinum in Canada alone! In
America, Another One Bites the Dust, became the band's biggest selling single. Later that same year
the soundtrack for Flash Gordon was released and by the end of the year Queen had sold over
45,000,000 albums worldwide. In 1981 they toured Asia and were the first band play a stadium tour
of South America. They played to 131,000 people in Sao Paolo. Greatest Hits, Greatest Flix and

He later on said at the same radio station that he was joking. But a lot of Beliebers didn't take the

  • 3. Miley Cyrus : A Modern Society Essay Miley Cyrus: From One World to Another Holding the status of a celebrity in modern society is no simple feat, as a constant presence in the public eye can become quite strenuous on an individual. Living life under a magnifying glass, with every move and decision analyzed to extensive lengths, celebrities must be strategic and aware of how they appear before their audience. Thus, if they are not satisfied with public perception, they must take action to go through an, often calculated, transformation. When understanding a celebrity's image evolution over time, it is beneficial to consider the concept of "star text". Star text can be defined as the sum of everything that the public affiliates with a celebrity, including their body of work, promotion, publicity, and audience practices (Josh Jackson, "Celebrity"). Miley Cyrus is a well–known example of a celebrity that refused to conform to the status quo, dramatically changing her star text and completely transforming her perception by the public. These principles are what keep societies organized and orderly. Conforming to these principles, however, is not necessarily the road to happiness for every individual. The main character, Shane, in In God's Hands, Sonny, in Sonny's Blues, and the speaker in The Road Not Taken, all choose not to live by what is considered normal, or popular, and are able to find happiness by living as individuals. At the end of the story, however, when Sonny takes his brother to a blues club to see him perform, Sonny becomes the successful and popular one, while his brother is the outsider. When Sonny's brother first gets to the club he realizes that "everyone at the bar knew Sonny". The line, "Here, I was in Sonny's world. Or, rather: his kingdom. Here, it was not even a question that his veins bore royal blood", shows that Sonny was happy and respected by the people at the club. Though the life of a heroin addict is certainly not considered normal, and should not be glorified, Sonny is still able to find happiness in his individuality. Zalman King's In God's Hands is a movie about three surfers who are traveling around the world training to become big wave surfers (meaning that they will use jet skis to be towed into waves in excess of forty feet). The Apartheid soon became a major controversy within New Zealand, as many people prefered boycotting in opposition to it, instead of continued sporting contact. Following the Sharpeville Massacre, the international opposition towards apartheid increased dramatically, as the United Nations conservative stance changed to strongly oppose it. The massacre and the system itself caused many nations to institute sporting and trade boycotts onto the South African government. In 1968, the United Nations called for a sporting boycott against South African teams as a way to put pressure in the government there to ease apartheid laws. In the mid–nineteenth century, Espedalen was a very busy place, for it was then the world 's largest centre for nickel mining, and hundreds of men worked there. But today few signs of that activity remain, and the valley is peaceful and empty. You can reach it by taking a morning train from Oslo airport to Lillehammer and then the afternoon bus to Espedalen. The bus drops off at each of the three hotels in the valley. For logistical reasons, it 's best to arrange to spend both the first and last nights of your holiday at one of these hotels, because you will almost certainly want to use their transport at the end of the tour, as we will see. The tourism industry is now one of the largest sectors earning foreign exchange. MEDICAL TOURS Medical tourism (also called medical travel, health tourism or global healthcare) is a term initially coined by travel agencies and the mass media to describe the rapidly–growing practice of travelling across international borders to obtain health care. It also refers pejoratively to the practice of healthcare providers travelling internationally to deliver healthcare. With world travel market having undergone significant changes over the last few years a new type of tourist has emerged known as the Free Independent Traveler or Tourist (FIT). The definition is broad but tends to refer to people over 35, often, though not necessarily, of above average income who like to travel in small groups, usually couples. They eschew mass tourism and the holiday package concept promoted by Travel operators, in favour of a more individualistic approach to travel. There are two implications to the idea of the Free Independent Traveler. One is important in the context of a marketing niche with a distinct economic behavior whilst the other concentrates more on the philosophy of travel. This distinction can be summarized in how they are described. For the economic importance of tourism and for marketing purposes they are Free Independent Travelers (Upper ...
