Dave Parry presents a more suitable definition for digital humanities opposed to the other two. His
definition of DH is to view the digital humanities as new approaches of scholarship, as
modifications in not the tools in humanistic studies, but in the scholarship itself. Regardless of the
concentration of work being done, using the digital creates a whole new way of working. Parry finds
the first form of DH quite dull because he's not fascinated in study that looks for the frequency of

His ending lines of the essay were very out of the ordinary. For the most part, the author reinforces
their main argument in the ending lines, but in Parry's conclusion, he composes a joke out of the
competing definitions of DH. Instead emphasizing his arguments, he shifts all the attention onto the
academy and digital humanists, and more notably, how they will deal with the way the digital alters
humanism in the future. Without a doubt, Parry's paper is remarkable, but I think there are a few
areas he could work on which could help make his essay stand out even more. The use of sources
was great, but throughout his paper, I think Parry used quite a bit of sources that weren't really

The Importance Of Experience In The Humanities Reflection
Throughout my time in the humanities sequence, I have constantly been surprised by the astounding
quantity of philosophical questions, topics, issues, and themes that we learned. It seemed that with
each new text we read, there was either a completely new subject matter for us to discuss or a
different perspective for us to contemplate. After reading all of the course texts and being exposed to
all of their ideologies, I now find it very difficult to try and focus on only a select few. All of these
texts, from the Bhagavad Gita to Ethics for the New Millennium, were all highly influential to me in
some way and seem equally as important from a philosophical standpoint, but I must admit that I
appreciated some of the subjects more so than others from a personal point of view. For example,
some of my most memorable experiences from the humanities sequence arose from our class
discussions of The Trial and Death of Socrates, a text we read all the way back in the first half of the
Honors 201 semester. In class, we worked to define what constitutes a sandwich following the logic
of Socrates as shown in the text. While there were some disagreements around this definition, such
as whether or not a wrap would constitute a sandwich (which it absolutely does), the class as a
whole learned to question the world and the items in it as we know them. As Socrates pointed out in

Understanding and upholding respect for different cultures should be a social norm. Fascinatingly,
the amount of various cultures around the world is humbling– with no two being alike. Although,
Chinese culture has evolved through many, many years and some ancient traditions still uphold.
Face, "guanxi," which broadly speaking, means connections and many other cultural normalities are
constantly changing in China, yet there is basic threshold of cultural competency that is still
important to acquire before any amount of business can be done there. Researching these specific
cultural characteristics helped me understand several key cultural concepts that must be understood

Foster keeps the reader interested in reading. He broadened my horizon on the variety of fantastic
novels that the world has to offer. He hints that there are millions of other things to discover about
novels, secrets hidden in the code of words, and it is up to the readers to crack it. It was a great way
to end a great novel. Foster made few, if any, errors when writing this novel. There are few things I
would change, because this novel is great in almost every way. However, one of the things I was not

In the 1940's an agreement between the United States and Mexico allowed farm labor workers to
spend time in the United States working, when the agreed upon time expired the workers would
return home to Mexico. These workers were most likely poor people who had no family, friends, or
people they knew who had influence or power. They were simply regular people who were trying to
make a living working as migrant workers. In the novel, All They Will Call You. Author Tim Z
Hernandez explores the untold stories of a group of these migrant workers who were killed in a
plane crash on the way back to Mexico. In All They Will Call You, Tim Z. Hernandez has the goal
of not only informing his readers about the tragic Los Gatos plane wreck but also humanize each
person involved in the tragic accident; he makes his argument through the use of pathos and is most
persuasive when he dedicates time and print to each person involved.
Mr. Tim Hernandez tells us the story of the importance of these men and women in these
informative stories and is effective in doing so. He is effective because of his excellent use of
pathos. He uses pathos throughout the entire novel. An example of his use of pathos comes from

As someone who came from a family that lives in poverty, I have been plagued by a statistic that
told me that working the amount of hours I needed to support myself while being in school made me

beat the odds and graduate, but I was going to graduate with a high GPA and would become a

A.S. Byatt's Possession: A Romance establishes itself as a postmodern university novel because it

Mitchell, the protagonist of the story, is a postdoctoral and literary researcher who is more focused
on academia than job prospects, fixing his crumbling relationship with his girlfriend Val, and overall
taking part in mandatory obligations such as household contribution, that primarily falls on Val. The
audience is introduced to Roland as he studies: "The London Library was Roland 's favourite place.
It was shabby but civilised, alive with history but inhabited also by living poets and thinkers who

success and failure are not a factor of chosen line of specialization rather, it is a factor of hard work

But when things started going bad, and people find out that the astronauts were in risk of their lives,
everyone started becoming more concerned and interested in what was going on. It shows that
people need something exciting to happen during that time in order for them to pay attention to it. I
feel that the film was indeed historically accurate. First of all, the ship was really called Apollo 13,
as it was in the movie as well. They also had all of the correct dates and times that the ship launched

1. We know that experts had trouble being able to tell the difference between the works of Picasso
and Braque. Defend whether or not this made each artist's work any less original.
It does not make their art any less original. Originality is about creativity and innovation. While
their work was similar, it was the only of it's kind at the time. They pioneered the path of cubism
side by side. I would not consider this to be unoriginal, but a tandem effort to make their own art.
Surely, they challenged one another which pushed their art to new heights. I don't think cubism
would be what it is today without both artists, as they were at the forefront of creating new art

Masks are a covering for parts of the face that are worn for a disguise, pleasure, or to scare people.
Greek theatre utilizes masks innumerable times for evident characters in their plays. The
actors/actresses who position their masks on, become divergent people. The denotation the boys'
have behind the mask is unique from when they have the mask off. In Lord of the Flies by William
Golding, the mask is used as a disguise from their normal society and civilization. Jack, Ralph and
Roger prove that this statement is true throughout the novel. Golding once said that civilization is
"the mask which enables the individual to hide his primitive nature." This illustrates how one will
disguise himself as someone or something that triggers their primal nature. William Golding's
purpose in writing this novel is to present to the readers when an individual loses connections with

When the hurricane actually hit England it made her think about her past life, it did this because

Both poets express their feelings a number of different ways. Moniza
Alvi compares herself to real things whereas Grace Nichols only refers to things, which aren't really
there. Alvi talks about her parents' camel skin lamp then carries on to say, "consider the cruelty,"
