Be Dynamic.On Dumb Little Man, our ads, 'popular posts', 'recent money posts', etc. generally rotate in a completely random pattern.
Honesty- I have told DLM readers from Day 1 that I have a normal job that takes most of my time. There is no reason to lie. I mean sites like Lifehacker have a crew of full time bloggers and although we are in the same niche, this is not a competition. It is up to you to understand your restraints and be forthcoming with your readers
* Topics.I get tons of blog post ideas from work. I mean, everything from getting a promotion to dealing with complainers came from episodes at my real job. Use life to give you ideas. Things that bother you most likely both others people. A great example is a blog I recently linked to where an Accountant solves the problems she faces on her Triumph catalytic converter - http://www.catalyticonverters.com/triumph_catalytic_conve... .As long as your .blog is solving problems instead of complaining about them, you'll do okay.

* When beginning, read Problogger religiously and be sure to check his archives. I had absolutely no idea what a blog even was. I grabbed dumblittleman.blogspot.com with no idea what I'd even write. I owe a lot to Darren.
Keywords.When you give your posts a title, use really broad words.

Super job Mathew! A great way for us presenters share our creative works with each other! Just curious about this effect which I'm now just playing with... I'm assuming it was done in PowerPoint. What percentage is your transparency in the text box? What size and type is the font (Arial)? I like the effect.

I also agree with some of these other points. The transcript should be immediately under the slideshow - not the bottom of the page. Also newest comments should be at the botton and oldest at the top - to get a 'feel' of how the conversation has gone. I got mixed up 'reading down' when I should have been reading up with each new post! Also, any way to figure out how to make a Flash presentation forward with the keyboard or pushing the space bar? If and when it happens, the system will be PERFECT for presenters with an Internet connection!

Another thing we're thinking of is having a special 'Author annotation' element for each slide. If something is provided, it would appear over any comments.

bug: I just used italics on the font and it got replaced with some weird script font.

My original presentation is set in futura open type version, so it probably smartly changed fonts to a custom italics futura which the powerpoint-to-flash thingy here converted to a completely different font.

At the very least, I wish the comments were newest at the bottom, so I could make the first comment be my slide notes describing each slide (or work that into the flash file itself, lemme add a description to each slide)
