My Favorite Incarnation Of Star Trek
Jung and the Archetypes: "The Enemy Within"
"Whoever the hero may be, he or she journeys for us, carries us metaphorically into our darker side, [...] where the monsters inside of us
take on terrifyingly real forms, where our deepest wishes sometimes are fulfilled." (Leeming 203, 204).
I've always been drawn to hero quests. One of my favorites is Star Trek, though it isn't a typical hero quest. The stories of each
incarnation of Star Trek are thought provoking explorations of the human psyche on both societal and individual levels, often taking on
contemporary social issues and setting them in the future with aliens playing the part of the good guys almost as often as they are the
villains. My favorite incarnation of Star Trek is the original series, filmed in the late 1960s. The hero archetype of this series is Captain
James T. Kirk, who was both ordinary (born in Iowa) and extraordinary (youngest Captain in Starfleet history). (Kirk). However, he was
not necessarily always a good man; he cheated on a test that was supposed to show the character of future commanders by how they
handle a no–win scenario. (Kobayashi).
Many episodes explored Kirk's darker side, but one episode was very literal, "The Enemy Within". The following is a brief synopsis of
the episode:
"With his landing party stranded on a lethally cold planet, Kirk is 'split ' into two Kirks, one evil, and one good. The good Kirk, weak
because he lacks half of his persona, does not know that his evil Twin is

Communicator – A communicator gives the characters on Star Trek the ability to contact individuals or starships directly through a
communication system. It also serves as an emergency signaling device. A communicator could be either an intercom or a hand–held
device. Prototypes of the communicator inspired the creation of cellular phones. Now, cellular phones and smartphones apps become
more vital to the medical field. Scientists are using smartphones for medical purposes with the technology that already exists. For
example, medical personnel can use the microphone and camera flash as a medical tool. Applications are currently being developed so
smartphones can become mobile laboratories. These apps would give a smartphone the capabilities ... Show more content on

Scientist used this process and created dangerous, intelligent and prominent genetically–engineered superhuman Khan Noonien Singh.
Khan becomes Captain Kirk's nemesis and Khan's tyranny leads the Federation to ban genetic engineering for fear of creating others like
him. I was interested in learning that in 2016, Britain approved a license application to perform gene editing on human embryos. The
license permits scientists to "study the embryos for 14 days for research purposes only." It does not, however permit these embryos to be
implanted into women. Scientist believe editing embryos can boost the understanding of why in–vitro fertilization can be successful and
how healthy human embryos develop. They can answer why some women lose their babies before term using these embryos.
Additionally, this research could possibly provide better clinical treatments for

The Lego Group : A Company
The Lego Group is a privately family–owned company based in Billund Denmark and was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Christiansen.
Legos are plastic construction toys; the history spans nearly 100 years; manufacturing of these interlocking toy bricks began in 1949 with
the creation of small wooden Lego bricks (developed into six pieces of 2 by 4 bricks that can be combined in 915,103,765 ways, creating
systematic creativity) but has since then grown into an iconic brand with factories around the world, supporting movies, games,
competitions and six legoland amusement parks. As of July 2015 the amount of 600 billion toy parts had been produced.
In order to encourage his employees to strive for quality Ole Kirk created the motto "det bedste er ikke for godt'' which when roughly
translated means "only the best is the best", which has helped the company because in February 2015 Lego gained more global
awareness by replacing Brand Finance's "word most powerful brand".

Lego Structure Of The Lego Company
Lego is one of the most recognizable companies across the world. The Lego Group was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen and has
since been passed down from generation to generation, currently owned by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen. The Lego Group has headquarters in
Billund, Denmark and main offices in USA, UK, China, and Singapore. The Lego name originated from the abbreviation of two Danish
words "leg godt" meaning "play well". The present–day Lego brick was launched in 1958 with the interlocking principle which allowed
for an infinite amount of building possibilities. Because of the Lego Groups mass size there also comes a very precise corporate
structure. The Lego company is operated in a five–member Management Board. The Management Board consists of the Chief Executive
Officer(CEO), Chief Marketing Officer(CMO), Chief Financial Officer(CFO), Chief Commercial Officer(CCO), and the Chief
Operations Officer(COO)/Chief HR Officer(CHRO). From there it is further broken down into a 21–member Corporate Management and
a board of directors. This corporate structure allows for individual departments to work successfully within the larger corporation. With
the Lego Groups mission to "inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow" they have become one of the world's largest manufactures of
toys, valuing imagination, creativity, fun, learning, caring, and quality. The Lego Group puts much emphasis on their desire to help

Movie Review : Star Trek
Star Trek has been around for many decades and is a story that has taken many media forms over the course of its lifetime. Beginning as
a television show in 1966, Star Trek swept through the nation and evolved into one of the most famous shows of all time. The franchise
that is Star Trek, and as revolutionary as it was, dropped in the ratings and was canceled as all shows eventually are. That is however,
until 2009 when director J.J. Abrams, decided to reboot the franchise with the new, action packed movie simply named, Star Trek. J.J.
Abrams' Star Trek is able to display the diversity of beings, and human interaction unlike any story ever told before. By using cultural
analysis, I will deconstruct the cultural ideologies, of some of the main characters in this movie to better try and understand how people
so different and so unique, can come together and work side by side, while at the same time, drawing parallels between the world we all
live in and the Star Trek universe. When watching this movie, it dawned on me that Star Trek is much more than your average "Good vs.
Evil" Sci–Fi thriller. It is a movie of life and the people within that life, all trying become part of Star Fleet, the universal police who is
tasked with keeping the universe safe from evil and tyranny. Star Fleet is make up of humans or species from literally all across the
universe, including Vulcans, green people, small creature like folks, and any other walk of life you can think of including humans

Stereotypes And Exploitation Of Gender Profiling
Abstract."Successful investigations of the process of gender embodiment must use these three basic principles. First nature/nurture is
indivisible. Second organisms–humans and otherwise– are active processes, moving targets, from fertilization until death. Third, no
single academic or clinical discipline provides us with the true or best way to understand human sexuality" (Fausto–Sterling, 2000)
Throughout this study I compared to of the largest toy brands in the world LEGO and Barbie, they are both iconic pop culture symbols
and were perfect for this paper. Researching thoroughly the effects that negative stereotypes and exploitation of gender profiling can
have. Through this investigation I believe it was found that attitudes towards genders shift over time and as time goes by the attitudes
towards women for example in the work place have become more liberal. However there will always be negative connotations around
these matters as everyone's ideologies are different. It is an interesting and important topic that everyone from all backgrounds, social
statues and ethnicities are part of yet it is a very multi–layered and complicated topic as there are so many factors that come into play.
Intro.
"Gender is complex" (Lippa, A R 1994) there are unlimited influences that affect each and every one of us as we develop as human
beings; we are all unique models, shaped not only by our DNA but also by the physical and emotional environment in which we find
ourselves. It is

(Working Title) A LEGO Case Study: How did the Company Adapt in an Ever Changing World?
By Steven Eyles
Today the brand of LEGO seems to be as ever expanding as the product itself, but with a life span of just over 82 years the company
must have had to adapt and change in this ever expanding world. Even just over the past 20 years things have moved on so rapidly
especially in terms of technology. 20 years ago the first full–length animated film was a year away from the cinema (Toy Story: USA
release – November 22nd 1995), Sony released the first PlayStation in Japan (December 3rd 1994) and the top selling toy at Christmas
was the 'Mighty Morphin Power Ranger' Toys.
In this present year (2014) the first–ever full–length theatrical LEGO movie is the top grossing film in the United Kingdom (checked
19th November 2014), is the 'ninth biggest video game franchise in the world' according to Warner Bros and in the biggest toy maker in
the world after just taking over Mattel's throne in 2014.
This report will firstly go back to the early years of LEGO, focusing on the founder and the initial years that proved to be difficult for the
family run company, also focusing on the early experimentations of the famous LEGO brick. In the next chapter this report will focus
even further on the bricks design and the break though from all the tinkering to perfect the brick.
Chapter three will glance over nearly 40 years of the company's history. From the Duplo Brick's creation in 1967 to

Brief Summary Of The Lego Company
Brief Summary of the Lego Case
The Lego Company, was founded in 1916, by Ole Kirk Christiansen in Billund, Denmark. The company quickly expanded, producing
double–digit sales. Then, with the development of social media Lego appeared to hit a brick wall when faced with the challenge of how
to market their Lego Bricks on the social web. Jack McKee, a former social media practitioner at Lego, "was able to help change the
culture within the organization, so they could use the social web to build relationships with customers, generate new product ideas by
sharing propriety information, and better understand their customers.
A strategy was put into place to help understand customer behavior. The social media strategies enabled Lego to create personas to
segment their markets. This was accomplished by the use of six distinct personas to categorize customers, according to purchase and
usage rate. This was a huge contributor to Lego becoming one of the most successful toy manufactures.
Question #1: Which of the three personas does the Lego Group spend the most social media marketing time and effort? It is likely that
different personas will emerge from the Lego Group over time? Explain.
The first three personas spend a great amount of time on social media interaction. However, of the three personas the "Lead Users" of
Lego are the most involved with the production. They play a vital role because they help shape product design. Though they have the
fewest members they are

The Star Trek Phenomenon
History of TV
Star Trek The phenomenon that is Star Trek began on September 8, 1966 on NBC. From that night on, America would forever be
different. At a point in time where the cowboys were falling from the small screen and science fiction was on the rise. However, there has
and never been and will never another be a program as well known as Star Trek. The first time the show aired, it only saw 3 years before
NBC canceled the show, and almost 20 years went past before it re–aired in its new form. The cult following that kept the show alive still
drives its success today. Compared to today's television, something can be said for the quality of Star Trek's production value. Critics
often ridicule the show today, but behind the cheap looking sets and laughable dialogue and effects, the show was groundbreaking for its
time in all different types of ways. It is hard to believe that cheap plywood sets and basic effects are used in one of the biggest science
fiction shows of all time, but the show was written by highly regarded science fiction authors of the day. On top of the writers being well
prestige, many of its production values, particularly costuming, were extremely high, despite a relatively small budget a weekly TV
series normally sees. Critics who call the show cheesy ignore the fact that by the standards of the day, Star Trek was quite ahead of its
time, and it effectively raised the bar, something that forced all science fiction television shows and movies to

Classical Conversations
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7). This week I attended my cousins wedding
in Boston, Massachusetts, during this time I was asked many questions along the lines of "What are you going to do in college?" "What
are you studying?" "Would you like some wine?" etc... At first it was really discouraging because I am only a freshman in highschool, I
don't know what I'm doing, but they want you to know. After answering all those questions (yes all of them, seriously) multiple times, I
realized that i have grown and changed a lot just in this past year. Then I remembered I had to write a paper about that. After talking with
my parents about it, I categorized all my areas of growth that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the most significant change I have seen in my life in this past year. I have to give a large majority of the credit for this to my
Youth Leader, Greg Pellegrino. He has helped me grow in Christ in so many ways and has been a huge source of encouragement and
guidance in my spiritual life. Before this year, I did not read the word daily, and I did not think about God half as often as a do now. I
now read the bible and pray daily. I have also done many "music cleanses" this year, in which I go through periods of time where I would
listen to Christian music exclusively. It was very refreshing and uplifting and it definitely made me more aware of my music and media
choices and helped me make sure I was honoring the Lord in every aspect of my life. I have never been so on fire for Jesus as I have
been recently and in this past year, and I hope my faith only

LEGO: Back to Bricks
LEGO, as we know, is everywhere today. Not only in their classic, cuboid shapes, but also in video games, on the movie screen, on
clothes, and in the formation of theme parks populating the globe. Within a world that is increasingly being surrounded by colorful,
snappable bricks, it is hard to describe LEGO as anything other than a major success story. However, the brick road has not always been
yellow for the Danish firm. Up against the volatile toy industry, LEGO has had their share of ups and downs, nearing bankruptcy in the
early 2000s. One may say that LEGO has always been unique, but it was not until this pivotal low they they became disruptive in the
way they operated as a brand. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The company began to make rash initiatives in an attempt to transition their brand from that of a product, to one that embodied a
lifestyle. Launching offshoot product lines, television series, and theme parks, LEGO began heavily investing in business model
extensions that would quickly crash and burn. (Robertson & Hjulen) As a company, they lacked the expertise and validation to make
these ideas work.
Enter Jørgen Vig Knudstorp. In 2001, Knudstorp, a design thinker, joined the LEGO company as a consultant and was promoted to CEO
after just three years. He understood the complexity of the market and how LEGO was inefficiently addressing those challenges. After
meeting with several company stakeholders, Jørgen was able to understand that the LEGO brand and core product were the bread and
butter of the company. Creating a messy ecosystem of disparate offerings and products forced LEGO to divide its attention to such a
scale that they began to ignore their main customers, a common incumbent faux pas. (Billund) Knudstorp knew what to do. It was time
to strip the company down to its core–a ubiquitous brick. (Ringen) Under his lead, the company would execute a multi–phase strategy to
create a robust operational foundation that would serve as a platform for resilient innovation.
As a response to demand–side disruption, LEGO began to pivot its organization to focusing on the creation of customer value. The

Modern Day Red District Chicago
There are many challenges one can face when writing and directing a movie, this task becomes significantly harder when the film is
going to be an adaptation. One major challenge that is faced when adapting an ancient play into modern times is to achieve the perfect
amount of intertextuality. Spike Lee was able to put into Chi–Raq the perfect amount of modern day application by setting the movie in
modern day red district Chicago. He also is able to add the correct amount of the original Lysistrata by using it as the main character's
name as well as having the entire movie in verse. Another aspect that is challenging to make in an adaptation is to choose the correct
issue to try and inform the public on. Spike Lee could have chosen the amount of fighting that happens in an actual declared war zone,
but he chose to have the movie be set in modern day Chicago with a pertinence to educate people on what happens in their country. Even
though intertextuality is a large difficulty that is faced when adapting a film there is also the reception of audience to take into thought.
The topic that Chi–Raq depicts is a very sensitive subject. That is that there are many ways that this movie could have come off as more
offensive. It could be offensive to the people of Chicago because the movie is depicting their city to be as bad as a war zone. As well as
an insult to the members of the military thinking that the movie is making a joke about the war in Iraq. Another challenge that the

Lego Brickumentary Analysis
The believe documentary over A LEGO brickumentary gives people across the world the opportunity to express themselves using their
imagination with the LEGO brick. As the film progressed, I could see many different types of designs. I had absolutely no idea that
designers across the world made this their life. They use their imagination and make it out of LEGO bricks, instead of using the
directions on the back of the box. They took it and made it their own. What these people came up with and created was extraordinary. I
also had no idea LEGOs were such a deal to all sorts of ages and genders. I thought LEGOs were only for children that are only boys, but

Some adults build structures for museums and types of jobs they have, but also others build for simple fun and enjoyment of the LEGO
brick. As for a particular builder during the movie made a musuem of his sculptures to bring people from around the city to show off his
artwork. He wanted this to be portrayed as art rather than just him creating something to have fun. Another view can be on how to use a
LEGO brick. Many people think they have to do what is recommended by the directions that are on the back of the box. As for others,
that is not the case. Many use their creativity to make the a creative structure in their minds. What some people do with their creativity,
whatever they create can be submitted to LEGO, and if they win out of the other competitors who create different types of structures,
then their product will be the next LEGO set produced. This brickumentary was very interesting and brought me some enjoyment, and I
was extremely drawn in on what this brickumentary brought to me. I had no idea LEGO targeted all sorts of ages and genders. Since I
was a little kind I always thought LEGOs were just for children. It is funny how things change as you grow older. The brickumentary
showed that LEGO can bring happiness and relieve stress to many people around the world. I had no idea that LEGO brought so much
valuable interest to people of all ages. It was very enjoyable to watch something I probably would have never picked on watching on my
own. I think LEGO is a great toy to anyone and

The Impact Of Television And Its Impact On Society
"In the future, everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes." (Andy Warhol). This quote is highly characteristic of popular culture in
society. What Mr.Warhol was saying is simply that no matter how popular something becomes it tends to lose its appeal, eventually being
replaced by the "next big thing" in an ongoing cycle that never ends. When thought of in this way it's quite easy to see how popular
culture, and television especially, has become thought of by some as nothing more than a simple act of entertainment for absolutely no
purpose except to please the masses. Although a good amount of television in today's society is just for one's own enjoyment, television
is both valuable and beneficial to society. Television is valuable and beneficial to American society, because it has influenced the creation
of inventions, it has created opportunity, and it has taught valuable life lessons to society.
Television has had a large influence in the creation of inventions in society. An electronic, an experience, or even a thought that pop into
someone's head could have been inspired by something seen on television. Star Trek, a science fiction tv series, is becoming known for
contributing in the inspiration of multiple inventions in modern society. In an scene from Star Trek: The Original Series, in an episode

Minecraft And Lego Similarities
Have you ever wondered how Minecraft and LEGO's originated? There are many similarities and differences between how these two
toys originated. Here are some similarities. Minecraft was a one man project. Markus Persson Is the man who created it. When you look
at LEGO's two people made it. It was a man and his son. This is a similarity because if you take FIFA 14 for example in was made by
over 9,000 people! Another similarity between the two games is both were remarkably successful. How I know this is because more than
four hundred billion lego blocks have been made according to "400 billion LEGO bricks–and still counting" (As of 2014). Where as
Minecraft has had over 100 million people sign in, according to Minecraft Mania (As of 2014). The last similarity is there are no rules no
limits for either of these toys. In both you are free to imagine and create. No rules no limits just fun and creations. Now do you see the
similarities of Minecraft and LEGO's? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stories of how they started were way different. LEGO started with a man making toys out of wood. Then he got more elaborate as
time went on, his son help with this too and he eventually created LEGO's. On the other hand however Markus started to make a video
game. He worked on it in his apartment. After he finished it his new game became known as Minecraft. The second difference is that
Minecraft is played on a device. You can play Minecraft on any type of device Ipad, Ipod, Iphone, Kindle, computer ext. LEGO's can be
physically touched. You actually have to physically put the LEGO's together. The last and final difference is Lego's failed the first time
they came out. In "400 billion LEGO bricks–and still counting" it states that "the first LEGO bricks were a flop." One the other hand

Bloodsworth described the torments he faced while confined in the Maryland prison. Other inmates would yell through the pipes, "were

while being kept locked away in isolation. He eventually went on to become the prison librarian. In prison he would keep up a healthy
habit of reading. One day he came across a book that a guard had passed along. It was titled The Blooding, by Joseph Wambaugh. It was

Mirror neurons are neurons that are activated by the actions we take and the actions we see others take. For example if someone buys a
new pair of shoes the neurons are activated but if the same person sees someone else wearing a new pair of shoes the same neurons are
activated. Your brain subconsciously imagines you taking the actions that others are taking.
This phenomenon is why you cringe when you see someone get hurt. You experience their pain momentarily and literally feel for them.
The same thing can be said when you walk down the street and see that 3 out of 5 people are using their iPhones. Your brain imagines
you having an iPhone every time you see someone using one. This causes you to want an iPhone more and more until you have one.
This chapter is applicable to everyone. I think that we all feel like we have to buy something to fit in at times because everyone else is
doing it. It is important for us to recognize when we are doing or purchasing something because we want it and doing or purchasing

The Manufacturing Of Toys : The Lego Company History
Introduction
For about a century ago, the Lego Company has been a dominant player in the world of toy making that, aside being a household name,
it has become synonymous with fun, creativity and learning. Starting off as a result of a Danish carpenter's passion, Lego has risen to
capture the hearts of millions of kids, teeming youth and fanatic adults in the form of creativity and games. However, managing the
company itself has not been all fun as Lego's history includes a myriad of failures, bankruptcy, innovations and counter–innovation. The
journey to global dominance in the manufacturing of toys was enmeshed in several strategic decisions that young managers needs to
learn from in decision making and implementing of innovation in organizations.
The Lego Company–History
In 1916, Ole Kirk Kristiansen, a Danish carpenter purchased a woodworking shop mostly to help people construct houses and furniture,
this he did pretty well until the Great Depression around 1929 which saw fewer customers building houses and buying furniture, He then
decided to focus on smaller, affordable wooden projects. His desire to please children later inspired him to begin producing toys and by
the year 1932, Kristiansen and his small staff of apprentices has started making piggybanks, pull toys, toy houses and cars. Due to the
state of the economy at that time, the business was not very profitable as farmers often traded produce in exchange for his toys. His son
Godtfred Christiansen also joined

There Was One Guitar Essay
The lights dim and the audience stands up and starts screaming! All they can see is the single spotlight circling the stage floor. The
screaming begins to become monstrously loud. You can feel the floor shaking as the bass player slowly enters the side of the stage. The
single spotlight rests on him as he slowly starts up the band's most famous song. A second spotlight illuminates the drum player who has
stealthy sneaked to the center back of the stage. He starts pumping out the most incredible drum solo he has ever played. The crowd is
going insane; screaming like a pack of hyenas, when they hear the rumble from the lead guitar. The next thing they see is another
spotlight this time resting on me!

These guitarist's all bring a different style to the board. I admire them for their awesome guitar playing ability, as well as their creativity. I
believe they are of equal importance to a great guitar player. If a guitar player can't create his own song but he is the greatest player alive,
all he can do is play other guitarist's songs. The same goes for the most creative guitarist who cannot play a thing.
Once I saw Joe Satriani play I knew guitar was my true love. I enrolled in an after school guitar class with my mother's old acoustic. I
learned as fast as I could; I was like a sponge soaking up every bit of guitar knowledge I could get my hands on. I would play every night
after school till my fingers bled. For my fifteenth birthday my mother bought me my own electric guitar, my first guitar was a used
Fender from the 80's, but it did the job for me. From when I started playing guitar I have changed my view of the world around me I am
constantly coming up with short lines that would sound good on my 6 string, and I have a song going through my head at every second
of every day. There is a tugging on my heart to play, it is an addiction. I am addicted to music, and I've got to have my fix of guitar.
Music to me is my release. If I have a bad day or I am feeling down, then I will play songs that release some of that stress and worry. I
play to express myself. I write songs that

The Lego Group : A Company
The LEGO Group is a privately held company that is family owned. It's headquartered in Billund, Denmark and has main offices located
in China, London, Shanghai, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Christiansen in
a carpenter shop that eventually lead to the LEGO we all know today. Most of their products are based off the trademarked LEGO brick.
The name of the company is a combination of two danish words, "leg godt", which translates into play well. The company was passed
from father to son and continues to remain family owned by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen, grandchild of the original founder.
A couple of interesting things occurred to Lego in its development during the1940s. Denmark was occupied by the Germans and forced
Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, who was planning to study in Germany, to instead become a manager at LEGO. In 1955 Godtfred
demonstrated the new product at a toy fair in Nuremberg Germany, receiving negative reactions. Before developing a market analysis
department in 1959,the stud–and–tube coupling system that we see in every brick to this day becomes patented in 1958, the same year
Ole passed away, granting Godtfred as the new owner of the company.
There is no doubt that LEGO holds a bond with people between childhood to adulthood. With their mission, 'to inspire and develop the
builders of tomorrow', they have become one of the most iconic brands known to this day. As one of the leading toy companies in

MGM Resorts International
In the business industry, if businesses want to export their goods and services to other countries, they must become familiar with and
adopt international and global strategies. Consequently, there are three types of international and global business strategies. The first type
is international, which entails conducting a significant amount of activities outside the home country, yet its focus remains on the home
market (Fung, 2014). The second type is multinational, which consists of operating in multiple countries, yet the headquarters is in its
home country, not to mention that the competitive advantage will vary by country (Fung, 2014). The third and final type is global, which
is when the organization treats the whole world as one market and one source of supply, not to mention, that its competitive advantage is

Analysis Of ' The Unforgiven I '
Metallica is a heavy metal band that began in 1981. While the last song released by the band was in 2008, the group is still widely
popular. Perhaps the most popular songs are the "The Unforgiven" trilogy. "The Unforgiven I" is one of Metallica's most popular singles,
behind Enter Sandman which is on the same album. Metallica's lead singer James Hetfield wrote the three songs about his life
experiences, which is different from most of Metallica's work. The majority of Metallica's hits promote individuality and non–
conformism (Nys 41). This trilogy of songs however is a story of heartbreak. They tell an overwhelmingly emotional story of resentment
towards those who tried to control him (Irwin 7). James wrote these songs to pour out his emotions and express how he felt. Hetfield was
born into a deeply religious family. His mother was a Christian, and she believed heavily that if one is meant to be healed, God will heal
that person ("Ten things You May Not Know about James Hetfield"). As a result of this belief, when she was diagnosed with cancer, she
did not seek medical help. She waited for God to heal her. Unfortunately, after waiting for God to heal her, she did not beat cancer and
she died. This event fueled "The Unforgiven" trilogy and led to another work, "The God that Failed." "The Unforgiven I" speaks about
James's parents and how he felt during his childhood. "The Unforgiven II" speaks about love and betrayal. "The Unforgiven III" speaks
about forgiveness and

originating in the 18th and 19th centuries, the central themes of Neo–Classicism are still deeply ingrained in our contemporary society.

Like Wickham, the audience is positioned to marginalise Nero, viewing him as cold, calculating and cruel. This is highlighted through
cool toned, chiaroscuro lighting and costuming Nero to look malicious and menacing through facial tattoos and angular features. In Pride
and Prejudice, Wickham is represented as uneducated and uncivilised, writing that '...his studying the law was mere pretence, and now
being free from all restraint, his life was a life of idleness and dissipation' (pg. 195). This Neo–Classical ideal is represented on the board.
By emphasising Nero's unnecessary genocide of worlds, the audience is manipulated to believe that the character is simple minded and
primitive. This reinforces the necessity of civility in modern society, demonising those who do not conform to these standards.
Our society's value of the Neo–Classicisms emphasis on '...emotions governed by personal restraint, decorum and discipline...' and the
value of intellect and reason is highlighted through the correlation between Star Trek and If (Stanners, 2009). Towards the beginning of
the film, a flashback of Spock's childhood occurs. As he is neither human or Vulcan, Spock is bullied and lashes out at his fellow
classmates. This allows the audience to understand the strict class structure which the Vulcans and our society have and what happens to
those who do not conform. Distraught by his loss of temper, Spock consults his father. He informs Spock that "...Logic offers a serenity

Lego 's Creative Toy Line
Introduction
The company LEGO officially began in 1932 in Denmark by the skilled hands of the carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen, with the help of
his son Godtfred, when he was only 12 years old. They started manufacturing small handmade wooden toys such as cars, trucks,
ducklings and piggy banks, to fortify the family during the depression period. Their best seller where the LEGO bricks. In the studio
where the toys were made, the phrase, "Only The Best is Good Enough" was painted on the wall. This vision is utilized until the present
day to set the company as quality is of extreme importance to the brand.
The company expanded rapidly. By 1992, Lego had become one of the top ten global toy manufacturers. LEGO's creative toy line had
become a success worldwide. However, with the appearance of video games and the failed initial attempt to enter this market, along with
competition from other manufacturers, the Danish company was placed in a difficult situation at the beginning of the century, leading to
immense monetary losses. In order to stop losses, LEGO took measures such as: shifting part of its production to the Czech Republic and
a drastic reduction of its workforce.
Lego case for change
The case for LEGO's change in strategy was due to the decline in profit and growth. The company was not up to date with the consumer
and market trends. They did not have prepare for future scenarios or have a contingency plan, thus they were very unprepared for the
changes in the toy

Strengths
Lego's key strengths may be seen as coming from both its brand recognition and its ability to use innovative technology without moving
away from the company's core values. Whilst there are many other competitors in the toy or children's entertainment market Lego
remains the brand of choice in the field of construction toys despite the fall of other long term historical brand such as Meccano (V&A
2010) and the rise of alternative substitute products such as video games (BBC News 2004). As the case study indicates despite the
traditional nature of the Lego offering the company has a strong association with contemporary IT, design and manufacturing systems
which help to make the product both more durable as well as helping to reduce manufacturing costs thus making the field of technology
as key strength for the business.
Weaknesses
Lego's key weakness in the run up to 2004 may be seen as two fold. Firstly the company has failed in a key area of the understanding of
marketing in regard to understanding the needs of their customers which may be seen as the focal point of the marketing concept
(Brassington and Pettitt 2007). This can be clearly seen in the role out of the

In reality one's name does not necessarily mean anything. However in both of these works the idea that a name means what it says is not
merely an idea; it is actually true for the characters in these worlds. After the lengths Jack goes through to become Ernest, he discovers
that his name really "is Ernest after all" (Wilde, 343). If Jack had not made that discovery he would have been forced to deal with the fact
that names are utterly meaningless and that they do not necessarily dictate the characteristics of a person. Instead he receives his happy
ending and he is able to marry Gwendolyn. The characters go on continuing to believe that the name Ernest gives one some sort of
special value. The characters in The Secret Life of Saeed: The Pessoptimist demonstrate the qualities of their names as well. Yuaad
ultimately "returned to [Saeed] as she had been, the same girl" demonstrating that she really is the one who will return (Habiby, 137).
Baqiyya literally is the one who remains and Walaa also demonstrates the meaning of his name when he "[takes] arms up in rebellion
against the state" (Habiby, 106). The Secret Life of Saeed: The Pessoptimist would have a more dismal setting if Yuaad, Baqiyya, and
Walaa did not represent the qualities of their names. It would mean that these ideas of returning to the homeland, remaining, and loyalty

Batmobile History
As far as iconic fictional vehicles go, it is hard to imagine one more loved, or more long–lasting than the Batmobile.
From the first comic book appearance of the Batmobile in 1939, to the campy versions seen in the 1960s, down to the most recent
muscular, heavily militarized iterations seen today, the Batmobile remains one of the most quickly recognized popular culture symbols in
history.
Similarly, the LEGO company first became established in 1932, eventually creating the iconic plastic blocks recognized today by nearly
everyone, in 1949, creating a phenomenon that would sweep the nation for decades and generations to come.
So what do these two legendary symbols have to do with each other?

The Batmobile weighs an impressive 1,695.5 pounds, with each wheel weighing over 100 pounds each.
Completed, the iconic symbol reaches nearly 7 feet in height, and spans 17 feet in length, sporting an array of 17 colors.
Even though this masterpiece is simply a prop, Chevrolet has had a bit of fun by advertising the Batmobile's many impressive features,
such as bulletproof windows, variable height suspension, stud shooters, and sextuple exhaust, as well as a rocket booster in the rear, and
60.2L engine.
The Batmobile also features a "monster truck mode", and because the LEGO movie will include a young Robin, Chevrolet thought it was
wise to include Teen Driving Technology, just to be safe.

Lego Movie Sociology
The Lego Movie is a film that focuses on the impression of life in a Lego world but misses key concepts incorporated with Lego. At a
first impression, the Lego Movie is viewed as a movie directed towards children to stir their imagination but this would be ironic to what
is being portrayed in the film. By analyzing the ideas behind the movie in a sociological process, distinct themes can be connected and
reflected within reality. The Lego Movie can be viewed in a functionalist perspective that is influenced by the conflict theory within the
divided Lego society. To connect the sociological views to their society, one must understand how they interact and why they interact the
way they do. From the beginning scenes of the movie, the viewer analyzing the content can undeniably see the conformity of the citizens
of Bricksburg. One strong example would be how Emmet, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To define, symbolic interaction theory looks at individual and group meaning–making, and focusing on human action instead of large–
scale social structures. In the case of the Lego movie, the characters that are aware of the believed prophecy share their understandings to

judgement about the Piece of Resistance, The Special one, and the critical Kragle. They used these objects and beliefs to come together
in a resistance and create the ideology that they must overthrow President Business in order to practice creativity. As a result of this, a

First Lego League Research Paper
Most people think First Lego League (FLL) is just fun and games. I even used to think so. Now that I am actually a part of FLL, I realize
that it is a lot harder than it sounds. We are having practice almost every day after school, which takes up tons of free time. The three
most important parts of FLL are the project, teamwork, and the robot. Doubtless, the project is probably the hardest part of FLL. We have
to make some sort of presentation about our problem, and we have to have a good reason for it. This season the project has to do with the
human water cycle. It is very hard and we all have to make our problem together. My team and I are working diligently to choose a
problem. I am leaning toward water scarcity for our problem. We are making a Powerpoint presentation and hopefully a commercial for
the morning announcements. We will have to start working from home, stop goofing off in practice, and get our act together. If we don't,
then we might not be ready on November 4th. I think we all don't want to be embarrassed at the tournament. ... Show more content on

All the initiatives like laying people off, streamlining things, globalization was like going by the turnaround book and yet the financial

Secondly, the company's growing complexity was choking it and was a big cause of concern. Adding more bricks made products harder
to assemble, forecasts harder to determine, and inventory harder to manage. The complexity had a multiplier effect that went through the
entire supply chain
Thirdly, the LEGO Group had also gotten too far away from the core values it had been building on for the better part of a century.

Jorgen Knudstorp was just 35 years old when Kjeld promoted him from director of strategic development to CEO in 2004. Unlike
Plougmann, his turnaround attempt succeeded.
Knudstorp's slow–it–down approach of careful cash management, focusing on core products, and reducing product complexity certainly
contributed to that success. Re–engaging with customers was also taken to another level. One of the insights Jorgen had when he became
CEO was that he needed to reconnect with the community of loyal LEGO fans which according to him was one of the most powerful
assets the company had. It was one of the big reasons for the comeback.(Most effective)
Knudstorp recognized that innovation was part of that core, but he'd also seen the result of unconstrained creativity, so new product

Transformational And Authoritarian Leadership Style
Transformational or Authoritarian Leadership Style
Pamela Walsh
Leadership
Dr. Maureen Nixon
March 9, 2015
Transformational or Authoritarian Leadership Style Over the course of several decades, the depiction of leadership has changed. What
was thought to be innovative and participative or transformational tactic to leadership has replaced the classical and autocratic or
authoritarian approach. The step forward that not everything old is bad and not everything new is good was made somewhere along the
way. It was determined that different leadership styles suited different situations, and it is the responsibility of each leader to figure out
when to make use of an individual leadership approach or style. The two leaders selected for this assignment are Martha Stewart
representing an authoritarian leadership style and William Shatner's television character, James Tiberius Kirk from the starship Enterprise
representing a transformational leadership style. Despite some minor similarities, the differences between Martha Stewart's authoritarian
leadership style and William Shatner's transformational leadership style used in the portrayal of James T. Kirk are strikingly pronounced.
Martha Stewart's Authoritarian Leadership Style
Many have debated that authoritarian leadership is a pessimistic, negative, and discouraging view of others, however Martha Stewart's
use of this style enabled her to flourish in a competitive cutthroat environment.

The Themes And Differences Of Star Wars And Star Trek
Star Wars and Star Trek are both a part of the science fiction genre and are about space exploration. They both take place in the far
reaches of the galaxies, on unique planets with imaginative and distinct species. In both series the planets are united in some way, Star
Trek has The United Federation of Planets and Star Wars has the Galactic Empire. They both have a ship that they are famous for, Star
Wars has the Millennium Falcon and the Death Star while Star Trek has the USS Enterprise. Each ship has similar means of
transportation, Star Trek has warp drive where Star Wars has Hyperspace. There are differences in the main objective of both series. Star
Wars is mainly about conflict, a constant battle between the light and the dark as the characters strive to balance their sides of the force.
Whereas Star Trek is mainly about peace, space exploration and going where no man has gone before. Star Trek is a bit more logical and
grounded in science while Star Wars induces supernatural elements such as the force. Therefore, Star Trek is science fiction while Star
Wars can mainly be thought of a science fantasy. In addition to science, Star Trek focuses on topics like ethics and morality and
problem–solving. Star Trek often tried to tackle controversial topics in society and to teach its viewer's life lessons such as acceptance to
diversity. In 1968 Star Trek aired the episode Plato's Stepchildren where Captain Kirk and Lieutenant Uhura Kissed. This kiss is

My Favorite Incarnation Of Star Trek

  • 1. My Favorite Incarnation Of Star Trek Jung and the Archetypes: "The Enemy Within" "Whoever the hero may be, he or she journeys for us, carries us metaphorically into our darker side, [...] where the monsters inside of us take on terrifyingly real forms, where our deepest wishes sometimes are fulfilled." (Leeming 203, 204). I've always been drawn to hero quests. One of my favorites is Star Trek, though it isn't a typical hero quest. The stories of each incarnation of Star Trek are thought provoking explorations of the human psyche on both societal and individual levels, often taking on contemporary social issues and setting them in the future with aliens playing the part of the good guys almost as often as they are the villains. My favorite incarnation of Star Trek is the original series, filmed in the late 1960s. The hero archetype of this series is Captain James T. Kirk, who was both ordinary (born in Iowa) and extraordinary (youngest Captain in Starfleet history). (Kirk). However, he was not necessarily always a good man; he cheated on a test that was supposed to show the character of future commanders by how they handle a no–win scenario. (Kobayashi). Many episodes explored Kirk's darker side, but one episode was very literal, "The Enemy Within". The following is a brief synopsis of the episode: "With his landing party stranded on a lethally cold planet, Kirk is 'split ' into two Kirks, one evil, and one good. The good Kirk, weak because he lacks half of his persona, does not know that his evil Twin is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Star Trek Research Paper Communicator – A communicator gives the characters on Star Trek the ability to contact individuals or starships directly through a communication system. It also serves as an emergency signaling device. A communicator could be either an intercom or a hand–held device. Prototypes of the communicator inspired the creation of cellular phones. Now, cellular phones and smartphones apps become more vital to the medical field. Scientists are using smartphones for medical purposes with the technology that already exists. For example, medical personnel can use the microphone and camera flash as a medical tool. Applications are currently being developed so smartphones can become mobile laboratories. These apps would give a smartphone the capabilities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientist used this process and created dangerous, intelligent and prominent genetically–engineered superhuman Khan Noonien Singh. Khan becomes Captain Kirk's nemesis and Khan's tyranny leads the Federation to ban genetic engineering for fear of creating others like him. I was interested in learning that in 2016, Britain approved a license application to perform gene editing on human embryos. The license permits scientists to "study the embryos for 14 days for research purposes only." It does not, however permit these embryos to be implanted into women. Scientist believe editing embryos can boost the understanding of why in–vitro fertilization can be successful and how healthy human embryos develop. They can answer why some women lose their babies before term using these embryos. Additionally, this research could possibly provide better clinical treatments for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Lego Group : A Company The Lego Group is a privately family–owned company based in Billund Denmark and was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Christiansen. Legos are plastic construction toys; the history spans nearly 100 years; manufacturing of these interlocking toy bricks began in 1949 with the creation of small wooden Lego bricks (developed into six pieces of 2 by 4 bricks that can be combined in 915,103,765 ways, creating systematic creativity) but has since then grown into an iconic brand with factories around the world, supporting movies, games, competitions and six legoland amusement parks. As of July 2015 the amount of 600 billion toy parts had been produced. In order to encourage his employees to strive for quality Ole Kirk created the motto "det bedste er ikke for godt'' which when roughly translated means "only the best is the best", which has helped the company because in February 2015 Lego gained more global awareness by replacing Brand Finance's "word most powerful brand". • 17. Lego Structure Of The Lego Company Lego is one of the most recognizable companies across the world. The Lego Group was founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen and has since been passed down from generation to generation, currently owned by Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen. The Lego Group has headquarters in Billund, Denmark and main offices in USA, UK, China, and Singapore. The Lego name originated from the abbreviation of two Danish words "leg godt" meaning "play well". The present–day Lego brick was launched in 1958 with the interlocking principle which allowed for an infinite amount of building possibilities. Because of the Lego Groups mass size there also comes a very precise corporate structure. The Lego company is operated in a five–member Management Board. The Management Board consists of the Chief Executive Officer(CEO), Chief Marketing Officer(CMO), Chief Financial Officer(CFO), Chief Commercial Officer(CCO), and the Chief Operations Officer(COO)/Chief HR Officer(CHRO). From there it is further broken down into a 21–member Corporate Management and a board of directors. This corporate structure allows for individual departments to work successfully within the larger corporation. With the Lego Groups mission to "inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow" they have become one of the world's largest manufactures of toys, valuing imagination, creativity, fun, learning, caring, and quality. The Lego Group puts much emphasis on their desire to help children learn and develop essential skills purely through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Movie Review : Star Trek Star Trek has been around for many decades and is a story that has taken many media forms over the course of its lifetime. Beginning as a television show in 1966, Star Trek swept through the nation and evolved into one of the most famous shows of all time. The franchise that is Star Trek, and as revolutionary as it was, dropped in the ratings and was canceled as all shows eventually are. That is however, until 2009 when director J.J. Abrams, decided to reboot the franchise with the new, action packed movie simply named, Star Trek. J.J. Abrams' Star Trek is able to display the diversity of beings, and human interaction unlike any story ever told before. By using cultural analysis, I will deconstruct the cultural ideologies, of some of the main characters in this movie to better try and understand how people so different and so unique, can come together and work side by side, while at the same time, drawing parallels between the world we all live in and the Star Trek universe. When watching this movie, it dawned on me that Star Trek is much more than your average "Good vs. Evil" Sci–Fi thriller. It is a movie of life and the people within that life, all trying become part of Star Fleet, the universal police who is tasked with keeping the universe safe from evil and tyranny. Star Fleet is make up of humans or species from literally all across the universe, including Vulcans, green people, small creature like folks, and any other walk of life you can think of including humans ... • 25. Stereotypes And Exploitation Of Gender Profiling Abstract."Successful investigations of the process of gender embodiment must use these three basic principles. First nature/nurture is indivisible. Second organisms–humans and otherwise– are active processes, moving targets, from fertilization until death. Third, no single academic or clinical discipline provides us with the true or best way to understand human sexuality" (Fausto–Sterling, 2000) Throughout this study I compared to of the largest toy brands in the world LEGO and Barbie, they are both iconic pop culture symbols and were perfect for this paper. Researching thoroughly the effects that negative stereotypes and exploitation of gender profiling can have. Through this investigation I believe it was found that attitudes towards genders shift over time and as time goes by the attitudes towards women for example in the work place have become more liberal. However there will always be negative connotations around these matters as everyone's ideologies are different. It is an interesting and important topic that everyone from all backgrounds, social statues and ethnicities are part of yet it is a very multi–layered and complicated topic as there are so many factors that come into play. Intro. "Gender is complex" (Lippa, A R 1994) there are unlimited influences that affect each and every one of us as we develop as human beings; we are all unique models, shaped not only by our DNA but also by the physical and emotional environment in which we find ourselves. • 29. A Lego Case Study How Did The Company Adapt In An Ever... (Working Title) A LEGO Case Study: How did the Company Adapt in an Ever Changing World? By Steven Eyles Today the brand of LEGO seems to be as ever expanding as the product itself, but with a life span of just over 82 years the company must have had to adapt and change in this ever expanding world. Even just over the past 20 years things have moved on so rapidly especially in terms of technology. 20 years ago the first full–length animated film was a year away from the cinema (Toy Story: USA release – November 22nd 1995), Sony released the first PlayStation in Japan (December 3rd 1994) and the top selling toy at Christmas was the 'Mighty Morphin Power Ranger' Toys. In this present year (2014) the first–ever full–length theatrical LEGO movie is the top grossing film in the United Kingdom (checked 19th November 2014), is the 'ninth biggest video game franchise in the world' according to Warner Bros and in the biggest toy maker in the world after just taking over Mattel's throne in 2014. This report will firstly go back to the early years of LEGO, focusing on the founder and the initial years that proved to be difficult for the family run company, also focusing on the early experimentations of the famous LEGO brick. In the next chapter this report will focus even further on the bricks design and the break though from all the tinkering to perfect the brick. Chapter three will glance over nearly 40 years of the company's history. From the Duplo Brick's creation in 1967 to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Brief Summary Of The Lego Company Brief Summary of the Lego Case The Lego Company, was founded in 1916, by Ole Kirk Christiansen in Billund, Denmark. The company quickly expanded, producing double–digit sales. Then, with the development of social media Lego appeared to hit a brick wall when faced with the challenge of how to market their Lego Bricks on the social web. Jack McKee, a former social media practitioner at Lego, "was able to help change the culture within the organization, so they could use the social web to build relationships with customers, generate new product ideas by sharing propriety information, and better understand their customers. A strategy was put into place to help understand customer behavior. The social media strategies enabled Lego to create personas to segment their markets. This was accomplished by the use of six distinct personas to categorize customers, according to purchase and usage rate. This was a huge contributor to Lego becoming one of the most successful toy manufactures. Question #1: Which of the three personas does the Lego Group spend the most social media marketing time and effort? It is likely that different personas will emerge from the Lego Group over time? Explain. The first three personas spend a great amount of time on social media interaction. However, of the three personas the "Lead Users" of Lego are the most involved with the production. They play a vital role because they help shape product design. Though they have the fewest members they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. The Star Trek Phenomenon History of TV Star Trek The phenomenon that is Star Trek began on September 8, 1966 on NBC. From that night on, America would forever be different. At a point in time where the cowboys were falling from the small screen and science fiction was on the rise. However, there has and never been and will never another be a program as well known as Star Trek. The first time the show aired, it only saw 3 years before NBC canceled the show, and almost 20 years went past before it re–aired in its new form. The cult following that kept the show alive still drives its success today. Compared to today's television, something can be said for the quality of Star Trek's production value. Critics often ridicule the show today, but behind the cheap looking sets and laughable dialogue and effects, the show was groundbreaking for its time in all different types of ways. It is hard to believe that cheap plywood sets and basic effects are used in one of the biggest science fiction shows of all time, but the show was written by highly regarded science fiction authors of the day. On top of the writers being well prestige, many of its production values, particularly costuming, were extremely high, despite a relatively small budget a weekly TV series normally sees. Critics who call the show cheesy ignore the fact that by the standards of the day, Star Trek was quite ahead of its time, and it effectively raised the bar, something that forced all science fiction television shows and movies to ... This week I attended my cousins wedding in Boston, Massachusetts, during this time I was asked many questions along the lines of "What are you going to do in college?" "What are you studying?" "Would you like some wine?" etc... At first it was really discouraging because I am only a freshman in highschool, I don't know what I'm doing, but they want you to know. Before this year, I did not read the word daily, and I did not think about God half as often as a do now. I now read the bible and pray daily. I have also done many "music cleanses" this year, in which I go through periods of time where I would listen to Christian music exclusively. Not only in their classic, cuboid shapes, but also in video games, on the movie screen, on clothes, and in the formation of theme parks populating the globe. Within a world that is increasingly being surrounded by colorful, snappable bricks, it is hard to describe LEGO as anything other than a major success story. However, the brick road has not always been yellow for the Danish firm. Up against the volatile toy industry, LEGO has had their share of ups and downs, nearing bankruptcy in the early 2000s. The company began to make rash initiatives in an attempt to transition their brand from that of a product, to one that embodied a lifestyle. Launching offshoot product lines, television series, and theme parks, LEGO began heavily investing in business model extensions that would quickly crash and burn. (Robertson & Hjulen) As a company, they lacked the expertise and validation to make these ideas work. Enter Jørgen Vig Knudstorp. In 2001, Knudstorp, a design thinker, joined the LEGO company as a consultant and was promoted to CEO after just three years. He understood the complexity of the market and how LEGO was inefficiently addressing those challenges. After meeting with several company stakeholders, Jørgen was able to understand that the LEGO brand and core product were the bread and butter of the company. Creating a messy ecosystem of disparate offerings and products forced LEGO to divide its attention to such a scale that they began to ignore their main customers, a common incumbent faux pas. (Billund) Knudstorp knew what to do. It was time to strip the company down to its core–a ubiquitous brick. • 49. Modern Day Red District Chicago There are many challenges one can face when writing and directing a movie, this task becomes significantly harder when the film is going to be an adaptation. One major challenge that is faced when adapting an ancient play into modern times is to achieve the perfect amount of intertextuality. Spike Lee was able to put into Chi–Raq the perfect amount of modern day application by setting the movie in modern day red district Chicago. He also is able to add the correct amount of the original Lysistrata by using it as the main character's name as well as having the entire movie in verse. Another aspect that is challenging to make in an adaptation is to choose the correct issue to try and inform the public on. Spike Lee could have chosen the amount of fighting that happens in an actual declared war zone, but he chose to have the movie be set in modern day Chicago with a pertinence to educate people on what happens in their country. Even though intertextuality is a large difficulty that is faced when adapting a film there is also the reception of audience to take into thought. The topic that Chi–Raq depicts is a very sensitive subject. That is that there are many ways that this movie could have come off as more offensive. It could be offensive to the people of Chicago because the movie is depicting their city to be as bad as a war zone. As well as an insult to the members of the military thinking that the movie is making a joke about the war in Iraq. Another challenge that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote is highly characteristic of popular culture in society. What Mr.Warhol was saying is simply that no matter how popular something becomes it tends to lose its appeal, eventually being replaced by the "next big thing" in an ongoing cycle that never ends. When thought of in this way it's quite easy to see how popular culture, and television especially, has become thought of by some as nothing more than a simple act of entertainment for absolutely no purpose except to please the masses. Although a good amount of television in today's society is just for one's own enjoyment, television is both valuable and beneficial to society. Television is valuable and beneficial to American society, because it has influenced the creation of inventions, it has created opportunity, and it has taught valuable life lessons to society. The Manufacturing Of Toys : The Lego Company History Introduction For about a century ago, the Lego Company has been a dominant player in the world of toy making that, aside being a household name, it has become synonymous with fun, creativity and learning. They tell an overwhelmingly emotional story of resentment towards those who tried to control him (Irwin 7). James wrote these songs to pour out his emotions and express how he felt. Hetfield was born into a deeply religious family. His mother was a Christian, and she believed heavily that if one is meant to be healed, God will heal that person ("Ten things You May Not Know about James Hetfield"). As a result of this belief, when she was diagnosed with cancer, she did not seek medical help. She waited for God to heal her. Unfortunately, after waiting for God to heal her, she did not beat cancer and she died. This event fueled "The Unforgiven" trilogy and led to another work, "The God that Failed." "The Unforgiven I" speaks about James's parents and how he felt during his childhood. "The Unforgiven II" speaks about love and betrayal. "The Unforgiven III" speaks about forgiveness and ... World leaders such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, instructed the public to remain "...united beyond all borders in horror and sorrow, but also in determination" (RT News, 2017). This sense of fortitude, avoidance of rash decisions and the importance of order is not new to western society. Despite originating in the 18th and 19th centuries, the central themes of Neo–Classicism are still deeply ingrained in our contemporary society. These themes inform the public of the importance of discipline and emotional restraint, the value of civility and the significance of social responsibility, all essential to maintain harmony in our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like Wickham, the audience is positioned to marginalise Nero, viewing him as cold, calculating and cruel. This is highlighted through cool toned, chiaroscuro lighting and costuming Nero to look malicious and menacing through facial tattoos and angular features. In Pride and Prejudice, Wickham is represented as uneducated and uncivilised, writing that '...his studying the law was mere pretence, and now being free from all restraint, his life was a life of idleness and dissipation' (pg. 195). This Neo–Classical ideal is represented on the board. By emphasising Nero's unnecessary genocide of worlds, the audience is manipulated to believe that the character is simple minded and primitive. This reinforces the necessity of civility in modern society, demonising those who do not conform to these standards. Our society's value of the Neo–Classicisms emphasis on '...emotions governed by personal restraint, decorum and discipline...' and the value of intellect and reason is highlighted through the correlation between Star Trek and If (Stanners, 2009). Towards the beginning of the film, a flashback of Spock's childhood occurs. As he is neither human or Vulcan, Spock is bullied and lashes out at his fellow classmates. This allows the audience to understand the strict class structure which the Vulcans and our society have and what happens to those who do not conform. Distraught by his loss of temper, Spock consults his father. He informs Spock that "...Logic offers a serenity human's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lego 's Creative Toy Line Introduction The company LEGO officially began in 1932 in Denmark by the skilled hands of the carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen, with the help of his son Godtfred, when he was only 12 years old. They started manufacturing small handmade wooden toys such as cars, trucks, ducklings and piggy banks, to fortify the family during the depression period. Their best seller where the LEGO bricks. In the studio where the toys were made, the phrase, "Only The Best is Good Enough" was painted on the wall. By 1992, Lego had become one of the top ten global toy manufacturers. LEGO's creative toy line had become a success worldwide. However, with the appearance of video games and the failed initial attempt to enter this market, along with competition from other manufacturers, the Danish company was placed in a difficult situation at the beginning of the century, leading to immense monetary losses. In order to stop losses, LEGO took measures such as: shifting part of its production to the Czech Republic and a drastic reduction of its workforce. Strengths Lego's key strengths may be seen as coming from both its brand recognition and its ability to use innovative technology without moving away from the company's core values. Whilst there are many other competitors in the toy or children's entertainment market Lego remains the brand of choice in the field of construction toys despite the fall of other long term historical brand such as Meccano (V&A 2010) and the rise of alternative substitute products such as video games (BBC News 2004). As the case study indicates despite the traditional nature of the Lego offering the company has a strong association with contemporary IT, design and manufacturing systems which help to make the product both more durable as well as helping to reduce manufacturing costs thus making the field of technology as key strength for the business. Weaknesses Lego's key weakness in the run up to 2004 may be seen as two fold. Firstly the company has failed in a key area of the understanding of marketing in regard to understanding the needs of their customers which may be seen as the focal point of the marketing concept (Brassington and Pettitt 2007). This can be clearly seen in the role out of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In reality one's name does not necessarily mean anything. However in both of these works the idea that a name means what it says is not merely an idea; it is actually true for the characters in these worlds. After the lengths Jack goes through to become Ernest, he discovers that his name really "is Ernest after all" (Wilde, 343). If Jack had not made that discovery he would have been forced to deal with the fact that names are utterly meaningless and that they do not necessarily dictate the characteristics of a person. Instead he receives his happy ending and he is able to marry Gwendolyn. The characters go on continuing to believe that the name Ernest gives one some sort of special value. The characters in The Secret Life of Saeed: The Pessoptimist demonstrate the qualities of their names as well. Yuaad ultimately "returned to [Saeed] as she had been, the same girl" demonstrating that she really is the one who will return (Habiby, 137). Baqiyya literally is the one who remains and Walaa also demonstrates the meaning of his name when he "[takes] arms up in rebellion against the state" (Habiby, 106). The Secret Life of Saeed: The Pessoptimist would have a more dismal setting if Yuaad, Baqiyya, and Walaa did not represent the qualities of their names. From the first comic book appearance of the Batmobile in 1939, to the campy versions seen in the 1960s, down to the most recent muscular, heavily militarized iterations seen today, the Batmobile remains one of the most quickly recognized popular culture symbols in history. Similarly, the LEGO company first became established in 1932, eventually creating the iconic plastic blocks recognized today by nearly everyone, in 1949, creating a phenomenon that would sweep the nation for decades and generations to come. Even though this masterpiece is simply a prop, Chevrolet has had a bit of fun by advertising the Batmobile's many impressive features, such as bulletproof windows, variable height suspension, stud shooters, and sextuple exhaust, as well as a rocket booster in the rear, and 60.2L engine. The Batmobile also features a "monster truck mode", and because the LEGO movie will include a young Robin, Chevrolet thought it was wise to include Teen Driving Technology, just to be safe. At a first impression, the Lego Movie is viewed as a movie directed towards children to stir their imagination but this would be ironic to what is being portrayed in the film. By analyzing the ideas behind the movie in a sociological process, distinct themes can be connected and reflected within reality. The Lego Movie can be viewed in a functionalist perspective that is influenced by the conflict theory within the divided Lego society. To connect the sociological views to their society, one must understand how they interact and why they interact the way they do. From the beginning scenes of the movie, the viewer analyzing the content can undeniably see the conformity of the citizens of Bricksburg. One strong example would be how Emmet, ... In the case of the Lego movie, the characters that are aware of the believed prophecy share their understandings to others and create meanings to objects and people. For example, the followers of the prophecy made up by Vitruvius were in a common judgement about the Piece of Resistance, The Special one, and the critical Kragle. They used these objects and beliefs to come together in a resistance and create the ideology that they must overthrow President Business in order to practice creativity. As a result of this, a counterculture is established. A counterculture is a way of life and set of attitudes opposed to or at variance with the prevailing social norm. Now that I am actually a part of FLL, I realize that it is a lot harder than it sounds. We are having practice almost every day after school, which takes up tons of free time. The three most important parts of FLL are the project, teamwork, and the robot. Doubtless, the project is probably the hardest part of FLL. We have to make some sort of presentation about our problem, and we have to have a good reason for it. This season the project has to do with the human water cycle. It is very hard and we all have to make our problem together. My team and I are working diligently to choose a problem. I am leaning toward water scarcity for our problem. We are making a Powerpoint presentation and hopefully a commercial for the morning announcements. We will have to start working from home, stop goofing off in practice, and get our act together. If we don't, then we might not be ready on November 4th. I think we all don't want to be embarrassed at the tournament. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All the initiatives like laying people off, streamlining things, globalization was like going by the turnaround book and yet the financial picture grew worse Secondly, the company's growing complexity was choking it and was a big cause of concern. Adding more bricks made products harder to assemble, forecasts harder to determine, and inventory harder to manage. The complexity had a multiplier effect that went through the entire supply chain Thirdly, the LEGO Group had also gotten too far away from the core values it had been building on for the better part of a century. Ans 2 Jorgen Knudstorp was just 35 years old when Kjeld promoted him from director of strategic development to CEO in 2004. Unlike Plougmann, his turnaround attempt succeeded. Knudstorp's slow–it–down approach of careful cash management, focusing on core products, and reducing product complexity certainly contributed to that success. Re–engaging with customers was also taken to another level. One of the insights Jorgen had when he became CEO was that he needed to reconnect with the community of loyal LEGO fans which according to him was one of the most powerful assets the company had. It was one of the big reasons for the comeback.(Most effective) Knudstorp recognized that innovation was part of that core, but he'd also seen the result of unconstrained creativity, so new product design began to be informed by market research, user feedback, and how well the toys ... Transformational And Authoritarian Leadership Style Transformational or Authoritarian Leadership Style Pamela Walsh Leadership Dr. Maureen Nixon March 9, 2015 Transformational or Authoritarian Leadership Style Over the course of several decades, the depiction of leadership has changed. What was thought to be innovative and participative or transformational tactic to leadership has replaced the classical and autocratic or authoritarian approach. The step forward that not everything old is bad and not everything new is good was made somewhere along the way. It was determined that different leadership styles suited different situations, and it is the responsibility of each leader to figure out when to make use of an individual leadership approach or style. The two leaders selected for this assignment are Martha Stewart representing an authoritarian leadership style and William Shatner's television character, James Tiberius Kirk from the starship Enterprise representing a transformational leadership style. Despite some minor similarities, the differences between Martha Stewart's authoritarian leadership style and William Shatner's transformational leadership style used in the portrayal of James T. Kirk are strikingly pronounced. Martha Stewart's Authoritarian Leadership Style Many have debated that authoritarian leadership is a pessimistic, negative, and discouraging view of others, however Martha Stewart's use of this style enabled her to flourish in a competitive cutthroat environment. ... They both take place in the far reaches of the galaxies, on unique planets with imaginative and distinct species. In both series the planets are united in some way, Star Trek has The United Federation of Planets and Star Wars has the Galactic Empire. They both have a ship that they are famous for, Star Wars has the Millennium Falcon and the Death Star while Star Trek has the USS Enterprise. Each ship has similar means of transportation, Star Trek has warp drive where Star Wars has Hyperspace. There are differences in the main objective of both series. Star Wars is mainly about conflict, a constant battle between the light and the dark as the characters strive to balance their sides of the force. Whereas Star Trek is mainly about peace, space exploration and going where no man has gone before. Star Trek is a bit more logical and grounded in science while Star Wars induces supernatural elements such as the force. Therefore, Star Trek is science fiction while Star Wars can mainly be thought of a science fantasy. In addition to science, Star Trek focuses on topics like ethics and morality and problem–solving.
