Purpose: When conducting this experiment we were trying to figure out the types of nutrients were
in a McDonald's Happy Meal.
Background: Before starting this experiment we all had a general sense of was what is in a
Mcdonald's Happy Meal. We could assume the main nutrient in each part of the meal. Using the
information of what type of nutrients and organic molecules we were able to suspect what was in the
Happy Meal. There are three types of Organic molecules, examples of them are protein, fats/oils,
starch and monosaccharides. Proteins provide structure, movement, and energy. Fats/oils are used
for long term energy storage, insulation and cushioning. Monosaccharides and starch are both used

Then we added 5 drops of Lugol's solution and recorded results.
Discussion: The results of the class were:
Burger: Positive for fats/oils, negative for all the other tests, three groups got positive for protein.
The data says that the burger has a low amount of protein in it. When we know that it has a higher
amount of protein. The data proves that the burger does have fat/oil in it. The lack of positive results
for protein was because the H2O/burger solution had too much H2O to get a consistent result. Not
all the groups could get chunks of burger for the test, proving that the burger was to diluted.
Fries: The groups got positive for starch and fat/oil. Proving that fries do have starch and fat/oil in
them like I predicted in my hypothesis. Fries are greasy because they fry them in oil which is a type
of fat/oil which is why it came out as positive.
Bun: All eight of the groups got positive results for starch. Seven groups got positive for
monosaccharides and protein. This proves that my hypothesis that starch was in the bun was correct.

being a third generation American, I've truly become a melting pot. I am 1/16th Scottish, 1/16th

hundred percent Italian, while my grandmother on my mom's side was one hundred percent Polish.

grandmother was 1/2 German, 1/4th Scottish, and 1/4th British. Since my grandmother, who was

Let's face it kids are not happy with these new changes being made. Half of the lunches serve

During our DCC observation, we had the opportunity to engage with Curtis Thomas, Yolanda
Wright, and Josephine Rose. Each of these employees taught us about the different operations in
DCC. First, Curtis showed us how to run SmartSubs for the evening meal. He explained to us that
he addresses the conflicts that arise from fluid–restricted patients. If the order says, "No replacement

My Jump Experience Essay
It was on a school break back in elementary school in 4th grade. I was happy we were going to my

My early memories bring back images of my family and I gathered around the white kitchen table.

try and follow these requirements and there is a lot more waste because students are not happy. The
NSLP needs to change some of its requirements so schools can have some freedom in how lunches

All Faiths Food Bank is an organization that collects food products from many donation sources and
distributes them to local people that are in need. The organization moves the food through its 20,000
square foot warehouse, off Fruitville Road in Sarasota (A). After the food is properly inspected, it is
then distributed to, currently 184, Sarasota and DeSoto County agencies and outpost centers, such as
mobile pantries at community centers and churches (A). Those that are deemed financially eligible
applicants can then receive their, much–needed, nutritional assistance. Because of the summer
programs last year, such as the backpack program, 26,986 children received food; this equates to
1,994,415 meals (B). It is estimated that All Faiths Food Bank supplies a total of approximately 8
million pounds of food per year, which equates to 6.5 million meals (A).
My first, 3 hour, volunteer session was this past Saturday morning at the food bank warehouse. I
worked alongside a team of 9 people with Ben, our lead supervisor, and Fran Tally, the
organization's volunteer coordinator. Our shift assignment was to unpack large boxes of mingled
frozen meats and pack the contents into separate 40 pound boxes. These individually packed boxes

And I was so surprised about my dad's soup. All my thoughts about a great meal were taken down.
The soup was not as delicious as it looked, it tasted so weird: at first, I felt it so salty, after a while, it
tasted so spicy. After tasting the first sip, I looked at my dad and smiled. He just thought that he was
successful with his soup until he tried his first sip. Then he knew how his soup was and he said
"Sorry son, I tried my best, maybe we can wait for mom to come back home and cook dinner for
us." As soon as he finished speaking, I took the spoon, continued eating the soup and smiled. I know
the soup was not good, but it was from my dad, from all his love for me. I don't know if my dad
knew what I was thinking or not, or maybe he thought that I was so hungry to eat everything even
though it tasted too bad. My dad was so surprised about my act for a while, and he continued to eat
the soup with me. We both had a great time together, eating and talking with each other about bad
things, good things at work and school. After that, my mom finally came home. She looked so tired
from her work, but she still smiled and looked at me and my dad while both of us were eating soup.
She surely knew my dad made something for me and she slowly went forward to the table and
started tasting the soup. After her tasting, not a single word, she hugged both of us with her slender
arms and also with all her heart. This

"Advertising" and advertisement(s)" are defined as any message, the content of which message is
controlled directly or indirectly by the advertiser expressed in any language and communicated in
any medium to Canadians with the intent to influence their choice, opinion or behavior" (Ad
Standards, 2017). Puffery is used in many outlets of advertising; it is the practice of making
exaggerated, fanciful, or highly suggestive claims about a product or service. Usually the
exaggeration is obvious and concerns subjective feelings or non–material associations (Arrington,
Lutz p.83, 1991, p.469). An example of this would be the Molson Canadian beer ad described the
product as "cold, clean and crisp". Any beer is cold if you put it in the fridge, and warm if you don't.
You would hope that every beer is clean, that no poisonous chemicals or rodent droppings got into it
at the factory. Carrot sticks are crisp, potatoes chips are crisp, but beer is wet not crunchy (Beam,
2008, 8.3.1). However, the words "cold, clean and crisp" are effective puffery. It's supposed to lead
you to believe this beer is better than others. This classic justification for advertising contends that
ads simply give us information, which allows us to purchase what we want (Arrington, 1991, p.472).

a product or service as well as promoting a materialistic lifestyle that engages people, especially
teens or young
