62nd Mahindra Great Escape concludes successfully in Wayanad
September 25, 2010, Wayanad: The 62nd edition of the Mahindra Great Escape, one of India’s most
loved off-roading adventures, concluded successfully in Wayanad with over 60 vehicles from the
Mahindra stable manoeuvring the challenging route. Mahindra customers from Wayanad and
neighbouring areas participated in the rally. The Wayanad event received an overwhelming response
from offroading enthusiasts, leaving everyone asking for more.
The rally was flagged off at 10:00 am from Vythri Village Resort, near Vythiri Town, Wayanad. Iconic
Mahindra SUVs such as the Scorpio, Bolero, Getaway, Legend, Major and Classic negotiated an
arduous route of almost 70 km. The convoy of vehicles negotiated the rugged terrain, dense forests,
tangled jungles, deep valleys, vast stretches of mist capped mountains, slush, canals and white water
streams, exploring the splendid natural beauty of Wayanad.
“We are delighted to host the the Mahindra Great Escape in Wayanad for the very first time. The scenic
yet challenging route was an off roader’s delight and gave Mahindra customers an idea of the tough
and enduring nature of Mahindra vehicles. The adrenaline rush was palpable and the atmosphere was
charged. Real time tweets and updates on various social networking sites by participants provided an
additional charge to the overall excitement of the rally. We hope to return to Wayanad for another fun-
filled edition of the Great Escape, soon,” said Mr. Vivek Nayer, Senior Vice President, Marketing,
Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
Further, in an effort to popularise 4X4 driving and educate off-roaders on its nuances, Mahindra &
Mahindra has recently uploaded a training video on its website and on YouTube. The video essentially
gives viewers an idea of how to engage 4X4 vehicles and manoeuvre them on difficult terrain, under
various circumstances.
This edition of the Mahindra Great Escape was conducted in association with JK Tyres, Bosch and
Servo Lubricants. The Mahindra Great Escape route was chalked out by the Mahindra team, while the
‘With You Hamesha’ service team ensured that participants could enjoy the rally unhindered.
Wayanad is a picturesque hill station nestled amongst the mountains of the Western Ghat. Clean and
pristine, enchanting and hypnotizing, this land is filled with history and culture. It boasts of plantations,
forests and wildlife, making it an ideal vacation destination.
