The Final Deployment Model Is Like No Other
The final deployment model is like no other. It is called a hybrid cloud deployment. Unlike being
only available to the public or to a specific organization, a hybrid is a combination of the others. The
cloud starts out as separate clouds, and is combined by standards and technology that manipulates
the clouds to satisfy the needs of each (NIST). An example is like a hybrid course where the
material is divided among online and in class, and each load is split based on how much time is
allocated to each. All things considered from models, to characteristics, to deployment models one
must choose wisely and understand how each combination works and how it would work for the
intended purpose. Among most things, there are upfront cost, and ... Show more content on

Alternatively, if it resides in–house then the IT resources would need to remain and maintain the
cloud. There again lies the decision of how the company would need to allocate the cost and
resources to move towards cloud computing. Once it is known how the upfront cost and location
will be handled, then comes the accounting portion for the upfront cost for the cloud. Just like lease
accounting, there are certain criteria that must be met before knowing whether to capitalize or
expense the cost, and where to place on the financial statements. To capitalize the cost, the consumer
must meet two requirements. First, the consumer must be able to obtain ownership of the cloud
(Conaghan). Secondly, the consumer must be able to run the cloud on their own hardware, or said
consumer can contract another host (Conaghan). If the consumer meets these requirements, they can
capitalize and consider it a service contract. Once considered as a service contract, the consumer
will then depreciate the software and label it as a fixed asset on the balance sheet (Depth). This will
allow for the consumer to expense over the life of the cloud. Conversely, if the two criteria are not
met the consumer must use the expenditure method. The expenditure method requires that all
upfront cost must be expensed at once (as incurred), and reflect on the balance sheet as such

Case Analysis Of Cloud Networking
Today, large corporations have employees in several locations around the world. It is imperative
each employee can access and update important information to provide the most up to date data to
the rest of the organization. Cloud hosting provides a path to ensure open communication channels
for an organization to adequately operate on the global scale. Crowd hosting allows the use of more
than one server to reduce downtimes in the case of a mechanical malfunction. An organization can
sign a services agreement with a cloud hosting vendor to secure access to the technology. As with
any purchase, business leaders must ensure the chosen vendor is the best option for the organization.
For the purposes of this decision, I have chosen to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
HostGator provides an alternative hosting opportunity for prospective organizations.
Founded in 2002, HostGator has been in the hosting industry for a long time. The company has
consistently grown since its humble beginnings, and now has offices in several countries around the
world in order to continually expand their customer base. "Aimed primarily at the semi–technical
user, Host Gator's flexibility is their strong suit"(Frankel, 2017, para 3). This distinction allows more
tech–savvy businesses to pick and choose desired features to ensure the final product is pleasing.
"HostGator has near limitless options and control, however, they require a little more knowledge
than beginner–focused web hosts"(Frankel, 2017, para 4). HostGator has developed an outstanding
reputation in the hosting community for its performance. The company offers reliable services at
competitive prices by affording organizations the flexibility to choose the services needed instead of
simply offering rigid packages. HostGator boasts an extremely advanced datacenter to ensure
redundancy in their server network to prevent downtime. They have incorporated a level of
redundancy that prevents single point of failure in order to deliver services as advertised. While
HostGator has a great reputation of performance, it must perform well in key performance indicators
(KPI) identified by prospective clients to turn them into customers.

Role Of The Power Industry And The Services It Provides Essay
The main goal of DTL Power's cybersecurity strategy is maintaining data integrity and availability
of resources while ensuring that all systems and facilities exceed the industry standards. This
strategy is critically important due to the nature of the power industry and the services it provides.
The implementation of the controls falls in line with the cybersecurity strategy designated by
leadership. The hacktivist and virus attack were able to successfully penetrate our system causing
downtime and affecting system integrity. Cyberattacks are becoming more frequent and evasive
therefore it is imperative that strong security measures be enforced to not only secure network
resources but to prevent unauthorized access.
In order to prevent unauthorized access to DTL Power's data, the cybersecurity team has selected
strict filtering controls to secure the firewall with the strictest configurations to better control traffic
traversing the network and disabling all unnecessary open ports. A firewall with strict filtering rules
detects intrusions and prevents unauthorized access by policing the traffic and access requests to the
firewall. By disabling firewall ports that are not necessary for normal communication, attack
opportunities are greatly reduced. Devices use specific ports for communicating so it is important to
conduct a thorough inquiry into which ports need to remain open. An attacker can take advantage of
open ports, gain access and create a backdoor for

Differences And Similarities Between Frankenstein And Grendel
Frankenstein's Monster along with Grendel are both monsters that society ignores their existence
and both of their societies finds them to be a distress. Their societies doesn't enjoy them because
they are not like the rest of society. Both the Monster and Grendel aim to find their place in society
along with their purpose and reasoning to life. Considering their happiness comes at infrequent
times, both eventually accept their role into society by coping with themselves and their inner traits
to be loyal with themselves, continuing to be more intelligent and be on the correct path. Just about

Up until the twenty first century, gays were often the outcast of modern society. As our society gets
more and more secular, as it should, there will be even less outcasts of society. In the Monster and
Grendel's time, they were the outcasts of their society for good and bad reasons. Both of them would
get judged and scare people on first sight. "All men hate the wretched" (Shelley 128) It's amazing
the negative attention a peasant would get where a king would not. A popular person will dodge
harassment from society where a not so popular person would not. What a peasant would do is not
appropriate for a king to do. The reason I say this is, the only difference between acts of violence
and courageous acts is the matter of who commits them. "The incitement to violence depends upon
total trans valuation of the ordinary values. By a single stroke, the most criminal acts may be
converted to heroic and meritorious deeds". (Gardner 117) It's sad to say, but society can oppress the
undesirables. "Murder and mayhem are the life and soul of revolution." (Gardner 119) All
throughout time, the history books were written by the ones in control. Who were the ones in
control? The ones that murdered until they themselves got murdered due to a revolution. Society
only condemns the unfortunate, but unfortunates attract each other. "We may not part until you have

Chain Elongation In The Escalators
For this particular project profit is not a concern, but rather the concern is to increase customer
satisfaction. This is going to be done by having predictive maintenance on the elongation of the
chain in the escalators, rather than reactive maintenance. Currently, BART is reacting to the effects
of chain elongation on escalators which causes maintenance to be rather expensive but most
importantly inconvenient for customers. BART is currently doing this because some of the
escalators are older so they do not have any automation associated with them. At this moment, when
an escalator breaks down due to chain elongation there is major downtime to repair it because it is in
need of emergency maintenance. With emergency reactive maintenance an

ATOM Risk Management Paper
Risk management needs to be an ongoing process, occurring throughout the project, because of the
ever–changing aspect of risk. ATOM process includes both major and minor reviews to maintain the
vigilance required when dealing with project risk. Major reviews are designed to occur at key points
in the project to review the status of the risks and to evaluate the actions taken. Reviews evaluate the
effectiveness of the risk plan and make changes to that plan to keep up with the changes in the risks.
The major review is scheduled for major milestone points in the project, identified as part of the
risk. management plan. The risk register should have all the current information about the risks
when the review begins. In addition, the project manager will provide information with regards to
the project status and the review point. The risks will be reviewed with regards to their status,
changes in probability or impact, and the actions described for the risks. Any new risks will be
assessed and actions will be identified. Because risk needs to be monitored throughout the project
and not just at major points, our process would contain provisions for minor reviews too. Minor
reviews are designed to fill the gap between the initial risk assessment and the major review and to
be ongoing throughout the project. It carries out the reviews of the major review on a less–detailed
scale. After a review of both, an updated risk register is produced. Updates to the project plan to
better manage potential risks may also be an outcome of the review. We will have risk review
meetings also. Performance measurement system for our project would track the following metrics:

Disconnect Of Communication By Employers
Disconnect of Communication by Employers: Evaluating the Aftermath of Technical Failures
Businesses have become extremely reliant on technology over the past few decades. Processes from
accounting to marketing to board meetings are done using special applications and software
developed to improve productivity as well as to shrink the distance between office locations. With
the invention of computers for ease of day–to–day functions, to creating a global network that
connects people around the world in seconds, the success or demise of a corporation can be
determined by its digital components. An efficient, high–tech structure maintained by well–educated
and skilled associates gives an organization the ability to perform more effectively, nationally and
internationally. When system outages occur, tasks executed on the network cannot be completed,
halting productivity and potentially costing the company financial loss. The speed of recovery in
these instances is crucial, but so is the implementation itself. Inadequate handling of procedures and
mediocre responses from leaders in a crisis situation involving network/technical failures can wreak
havoc on an organization, negatively impacting public image, corporate profits and trust of
associates.
From the time an outage begins, the business is at risk of adverse side effects beyond normal
production. One of the most important initiatives of a company is to create a strong brand that
produces a profit. Implementation

Explain the Impact of Organisational Policies on the Troubleshooting and Repair Process (P1)
Referring to the policies related to the College's network. Produce an audio recording for the
Network manager to explain the impact of their organisational policies on the troubleshooting and
repair process. Introduction In this documents, I am going to be explaining the impact of
organisational policies on the troubleshooting and repair process, I am going to be talking about the
organisational policies, such as considerations e.g. security, costs, systems downtime, disruption,
resource allocation, prioritisation, contractual requirements, trend analysis, escalation procedures,
documentation, reporting, contractual legal issues. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Resources should be well balanced so if the resources are not needed they shouldn't been used.
Prioritisation The company should prioritize some of the aspect when performing repair as they
might be more important and they should be repaired first. For example if network is down and at
the same time printer is not working. The person that perform repair should concentrate on repairing
network instead of printer as without network printer would be useless. Contractual Requirements In
a company, the support team staff would be required to work shifts that will provide coverage for
the employees when the offices are officially opened, they will also need to provide extra time in the
evening and weekends, where they will carry out the essential maintenance which may have to
involve some downtime. The hours that an employee will have to work will be set out for them in
what is called an employment contract. They will be limited by the EU legislation and some other
regulations such as working time regulations, which will provide the basic right and protections
such as: A worker can be required to work at most an average of 48 hours a week (though workers
can choose to work more if they want to). For night workers there is a limit of an average of 8 hours
worked in 24. Night workers are entitled to receive free health assessments. All staff are entitled to
11 hours of rest a day and to one day off each week. When

Operational Failures Occur Within Organizations Across All...
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY – Operational failures occur within organizations across all industries,
with consequences ranging from minor inconveniences to major catastrophes. How can managers
encourage frontline workers to solve problems in response to operational failures? In the
manufacturing industry, the setting for this study, operational failures occur due to an internal
constraint which is the over use of one major machine. Using data reported from both the production
and sale teams, the researcher found that problem–solving in response to operational failures is
influenced by both the downtime posed by the constraint and the extent to which the organization
incurs a lost. Findings can be used by the organization to increase the management awareness of the
extent to which downtime affects the operation process and ways by which improvement can take
place.. Key concepts include: Operational failures that trigger more financial and liability risks are
associated with more break down of the machine. By communicating the importance of problem–
solving and engaging in problem–solving themselves, line managers can stimulate increased
problem–solving among workers. Even without managers ' regular engagement in problem–solving,
communication about its importance can promote more problem–solving among workers. By
explaining some of the variation in responsiveness to operational failures, this study empowers
managers to adjust their approach to stimulate more problem–solving within the

Productivity Improvement in Screw Type Biomas Briquettes...
Biomass densification by screw briquetting produces uniform, dense and durable solids desirable for
gasification, process heating, power generation and other heating applications which are currently
run by coal. Due to high wear rate, the screw and mould used for forming the briquettes deteriorate
leading to regular production stoppage and considerable down time losses. Hence Indian
entrepreneurs are apprehensive to adopt screw briquetting technology in spite of its potential. In this
work improvement in productivity parameters are tested for predetermined replacement of screw
before considerable damage is done. They were found to be significant and aiding quality briquette
output and smooth operation which could aid in improving ... Show more content on

If the excess biomass materials are compacted to briquettes near their source they can be transported
to longer distances, stored for more duration unaffected much by humidity [9] and put into versatile
uses. There are many methods of densification available and screw briquetting is one good choice
for producing high quality briquettes, a sample of which is shown in fig 2. These types of briquettes
have uniform dimensions, high calorific value, less moisture are desirable feed stock for gasification
systems, process heating and power generation applications. But the screw briquetting technology is
having its own shortcomings like, the life of its parts like screw and mould are very short due to
high wear rate, need of skilled labors to run the machine and wastage of energy for heating the raw
material and the mould. The heating process is needed to eliminate moisture and volatile matters and
to melt the lignin content in the raw material which acts like a binder. The quality of briquettes
produced justifies the use of skilled labor. Due to high wear rate of screw and mould particularly the
screw which have very short life about 4 to 15 hrs [10] there are regular stoppages of production,
reconstruction of tools and wastage of output.Research works are going on all over the world in
designing compact briquetting machines,

Case Study Microlite S.A.: the Pan-Orient Decision
Case Study Microlite S.A.: The Pan–Orient Decision
Abstract
Microlite S.A. which is located in Brazil was the largest producer of batteries in South America with
a mighty 55% share of the Brazilian battery market. Top Management had decided to shut down all
but one out of three of the dry cell battery factories in Guarulhos. This opened up the chance for
Luiz Pinto, manager of Microlite's battery factory in Jaboatão, to take over this market share and do
further investments in his company.
This report is going to describe three basic different proceedings on how he can increase his
production. Take over the old machines from the factories in Guarulhos, invest in new machines
from Pan–Orient or come up with new ideas how the current ... Show more content on

Approach
These three approaches have all their advantages and disadvantages and allow a great number of
combinations. Our idea is to implement a three–step solution.
The first phase of our solution is concerned with improving the current situation and overcoming the
shortfall in a fast and inexpensive way. According to exhibit "current situation" we can identify two
bottlenecks in our current production process, "Add Paste to Cup" and "Inspect Carbon Rods".
Those are below the necessary capacity of 540 units/min. To overcome this, we suggest adding one
additional machine ("Add Paste to Cup") from the factory in Guarulhos to reach a overall capacity
of 540 units/min and engage two more persons, one to operate the additional machine and one in the
"Inspect Carbon Rods"–operation (exhibit alternative II).
The second phase, after the installation of the machines from Guarulhos, has the goal to improve the
current production to an extend that:
– Average Downtime shall be reduced by 30%
– The quality of the batteries shall be increased with the long–term objective of eliminating the final
electrical output test
To reach this goal, first all the processes in the plant need to be scrutinized. Second, problems need
to be identified, analyzed and solved in the manner of Kaizen. The third objective is, to implement
quality control on the running belt. With these measurements we're converting the factory step by
step from a batch process to a JIT production.

Databases – Implement High Availability for Mission Critical Mission critical databases support
services that have an immediate, direct, and significant impact on revenue, goodwill, health and
safety, and regulatory compliance. They require more attention than other systems. I will be
discussing the following topics in this paper 1. Understand why implementing high availability for
mission critical databases is so important to IT's success. 2. Learn why true availability relies on
people, process, and technology. 3. Understand database methodology and approach to
implementing high availability. Current Situation: For most systems, efficient backup/recovery
processes and technology will meet recovery time (RTO) and recovery point ... Show more content

For example, an Info–Tech survey found that a BIA has a significant impact on setting appropriate
recovery time objectives (RTOs) and appropriate spending. Mission critical system uptime depends
on people, process, and technology. If people and processes are ignored, the system becomes
significantly more vulnerable to human error – the number one cause of downtime. My Research
Recommendation: Integrate these principles when planning for high availability Step 1 – Take a
proactive approach to high availability. Attention to and investment in high availability tends to
happen reactively after system failures. When you proactively address high availability, you'll give
yourself time to holistically approach HA and address people, process, and technology gaps. Step 2–
It is the responsibility of IT to ensure the business has been informed about the options and costs of
higher availability. Business users can't assess time impact of downtime in an information vacuum.
IT team SMEs – often acutely aware of the impact of system downtime – should take a first cut to
assess the impact of downtime, achievable recovery times, and options to improve availability Step
3 – It is the responsibility of the business to decide what projects to fund. Business stakeholders
must decide whether to fund a project, not the IT team. It is up to the business to make an informed
decision about the availability investments

Debate Over Stimulated And Overly Connected
Over Stimulated and Overly Connected:
It Maybe Time to Unwind and Disconnect
Jacquelyn Gentry
Eastern Kentucky University
Over Stimulated and Overly Connected:
It Maybe Time to Unwind and Disconnect For many parents; such as myself, it is not uncommon to
have a different activity to drive your child to each night. As a parent of a teenager, it is not
uncommon to see his loving face aglow from the light of his cell phone. In today 's age there is an
incessant need to always be busy our selves in fear of being perceived as lazy or perhaps
unsuccessful. A parent who choses to not engage their child in multiple after–school activities is
thought to be disengaged or uninterested in their child 's development. A child who does not get to
be involved in organized activities can easily feel left out at school when everyone else is talking
about their little league team or dance class. This drive to always be doing something transfers over,
as these children grow into their teenage years. As teenagers, they become very socially engaged via
social media. They develop an overwhelming need to be in constant contact and socially accepted
by their peers. To cut a teenager off from their device is to socially exile them from the world. In
other words, it is considered "cruel and unusual punishment". Back in the day, to go to one 's room
and have "down time" was normal and okay. It allotted you the opportunity to unwind, think about
your day, come up with possible resolutions.to

Power Corporation : Team Report Round 2
DTL Power Corporation: Team Report Round 2
Introduction
In round two of the simulation, an attack on DTL Power left services down for hours last
Wednesday. The cyber–attack left residential, business, and government customers in the dark for
hours. During the forensic investigation, evidence revealed that the cause of the attack was a worm
intrusion that caused a reduction in DTL system functions. This reduction in system functions
resulted in an excessive amount of downtime. The confidentiality, integrity, and availability of
DTL?s system was compromised. Cyberterrorism tools such as port scanners were found in our
system. These tools were not detected prior to the investigation.
The U.S. economic downturn also played a major role in our security selections. Due to these recent
attacks and the impact they have had upon our system, we will analyze our disaster readiness level,
national security index, and budget. A detailed review of our security policies, procedures, rationale,
and changes that were in place prior to the attack will be performed. This evaluation of our security
decisions will be then be adjusted and reapplied to the control set in order to improve our security
and national security index. After reviewing current security procedures, recommendations will be
given to maximize the security posture and performance during round three.

The Benefits Of Cloud Computing
Cloud Computing has grown tremendously in recent years because of its convenience, flexibility,
mobility, and availability. It enables users to access resources online throughout the internet from
anywhere at any time. Data and applications are available to end users no matter where they are in
the world, dispersed groups of people can now meet virtually and share information in real time, and
the reduction of servers and software costs can significantly reduce without impacting the
capabilities of a company's IT infrastructure. However, despite the many benefits of cloud
computing, there is one major drawback of all these advantages that cloud computing offers, and
that is security. Due to the high demands on large scale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many things can affect the reliability of the cloud such as failed servers and an overload of data.
This report will focus on the privacy and reliability related issues concerning cloud computing
security, and how these risks can be approached. II. Technical Summary The report that I selected
focused on the development of cloud computing in security issues related with the privacy and
reliability, the key factors of affecting the security risks, and also the suggestions and
recommendations for these risks. The expectations for reliability of the cloud continues to grow as
more and more applications are developed based on cloud service. To meet those expectations,
cloud service providers need to understand the challenges and find ways to increase the reliability of
cloud services, and also ways to avoid the risks. Some of the risks that affect the reliability of the
cloud is co–residency and multi–tenancy, downtime, and latency challenges. Co–residency is when
multiple services are held in a server. This makes it difficult to predict the performance of an
application. Reliability can be affected by other services that are busy. Multi–tenancy is when
multiple independent instances of an application can be consolidated on a single virtualized
platform. The instances can then be available simultaneously to various groups of users. Multi–
tenancy has the same cost benefits and challenges as

The availability of a system can be expressed through this calculation:
(Actual uptime)/(Expected uptime) ×100%
The result of this calculation is expressed in terms of the number of 9s (see Table A1). This
calculation shows the availability percentage, which is often expressed in number 9's, and what it
means for an organization in terms of possible uptime or downtime. Because of the nature of the
business that CASH supports, it is imperative for them to have system availability of close to
99.999% (Tuttle, 2012).
"In a volatile and technology dependent business climate, downtime, whether it is planned or
unplanned would cost a fortune to the company" (Quintero, Finnes, Herrera, Shankar, & Sigel,
2010, p. 1). Due to the firm's global presence and business operations being held 24–hours and six
days per week, the downtime during peak hours could mean the loss of revenue for the firm in terms
of millions of dollars per minute. In order to prevent any type of data or connection loss for their
clients, a set of High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR) must be in place for a firm like
CASH (Quintero et al., 2010).
Disaster Recovery
"Disaster Recovery is the process an organization uses to recover access to their software, data,
and/or hardware that are needed to resume the performance of normal, critical business functions
after the event of either a natural disaster or a disaster caused by humans" (Disaster Recovery) The
goal for any disaster recovery plan would be

A New Picture Archiving Communications Systems ( Pacs )...
Challenge the Vendor As a member of an organization acquiring a new Picture Archiving
Communications Systems (PACS) software, it is imperative to make certain of several vendor
challenges that sales representatives won't address in depth. With PACS applications there are
continuous challenges because of the complexity and constant evolving technology in the Imaging
sector of health care. Particularly, there are three encounters which I will address that a PACS
vendor may not identify the imperfections of their application. Primarily integration capabilities are
huge to countless in Imaging, as most PACS software's struggle to be well matched with the
Radiology Information System or the Health Information System. It is essential for the PACS
application being purchased have a platform that is compatible with the software's already within the
organization in order for the workflow to be efficient. Another topic vendors tend to breeze over are
downtimes and how often they may occur. Although downtimes shouldn't occur frequently the
departments need to be established and up to date on downtime scenarios, which the vendor should
provide support for 24/7. In addition the vendor should have solutions in order to make sure the
departments are fully functional even during a downtime scenario. Lastly, interoperability concerns
are a major factor as healthcare enhances and is improving. Imaging plays the center role to a
patient's continuous care and better outcomes. Configurations

Case Study Microlite S.A.: The Pan–Orient Decision Abstract Microlite S.A. which is located in
Brazil was the largest producer of batteries in South America with a mighty 55% share of the
Brazilian battery market. Top Management had decided to shut down all but one out of three of the
dry cell battery factories in Guarulhos. This opened up the chance for Luiz Pinto, manager of
Microlite's battery factory in Jaboatão, to take over this market share and do further investments in
his company. This report is going to describe three basic different proceedings on how he can
increase his production. Take over the old machines from the factories in Guarulhos, invest in new

The second phase is dedicated to a step–by–step improvement. This improvement needs to be done
anyway and during this phase we gain time to educate the people better, so that they could run the
Pan–Orient machine and that they have a chance to find new jobs if the new machine arrives. The
main idea of this phase is to convert the production line from a pure batch oriented to a more JIT
process. This would help us to reduce downtime and increase quality, with the longer–term objective
that the quality of the batteries increases so much, that we would even be able to eliminate the final
electrical output test. However, this goal is very challenging and we might fail. Therefore we created
the third phase. The third phase, which would come into play approximately one year after starting
phase II, would be dedicated to acquire the Pan–Orient machine, or whatever machine would satisfy
our need at that time. With this machine and the improvements we did so far, we would be
definitively able to eliminate the battery–testing loop, resulting in a payback of about 2.9 years of
this machine. Furthermore, we could fight the increasing competition more efficiently, which we
expect in 1995 when the import taxes drop. We think that we found a good mixture of different
approaches to overcome the under–capacity of Joboatão and are well prepared for the future
competitions and demands. Furthermore this approach enables us to

Incident Management: Unplanned Interruption Of IT Services
1. What is an Incident?
An incident is an unplanned interruption of IT services or a reduction in the quality of an IT service.
Incidents interrupt ordinary day to day technical service, such as when a computer has a virus or it is
not properly working like it was meant to be. These are unintended incidents that require assistance
from the service desk or help desk to repair the normal function.
2. What is the goal of Incident Management?
There is one main goal of incident management, to repair normal function and operation as fast as
possible. Some other goals are detecting events that could interrupt service and resolving the
incidents and lowering downtime for the company. Incident management also needs to maintain
quality of the service ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If there are no rules in which to handle the incident, the incident might not get taken care of right
away if it's a priority or not at all. On the other hand, there might be more than one person handling
an incident, therefore wasting the companies time and energy while that second person could have
been assisting another incident. Not having guide lines and rules will lower customer satisfactions,
end up costing the company money and rising downtime for clients.
4. Why is it just as important to assign roles and responsibilities to certain employees to own the
Incident Management process or even to manage the life of an Incident?
It's important to assign roles and responsibilities to certain employees to own the incident
management process. Assigning duties and responsibilities is imperative if the company doesn't
want confusions of what they are responsible for which will result in delaying the resolution of an
incident. Employees should have clearly defined roles and tasks so they can effectively
communicate and reduce downtime. If not, employees will have inadequate, inaccurate or
incomplete information about the incident and their role.

Research Methodology : Cloud Computing Downtime
Cloud Computing Downtime
Part One: My Proposed Research Methodology Generally, two sources of data are in existence:
primary and secondary. In my research project, I intent to utilize both sources. The rationale for my
choice of both sources is that in research work, there is a need that one use almost all available
secondary data sources before undertaking to complete a primary study (Sappleton, 2013). In
addition, secondary data is readily available and will give insight into the development of a
hypothesis for my study. Therefore, I will check all the available data sources from peer reviewed
journals both at the university library and online through google scholar and other search engines.
Accessing sources from the library will need permission from the librarians while completion of the
primary study will need an informed consent of the participants. I will use a survey in which I will
design both open–ended and closed questionnaires that I will administer on my target population to
collect data (Sappleton, 2013). The criterion for the choice of my target population will be people
who work within technical departments of companies that use IT. I will use a relatively small sample
of respondents because the topic of my study is quite sensitive as it concerns security. It is therefore,
important that only a few people exchange information about the topic. At the completion, of my
primary study, I will use a stratified sampling

Server Downtime Case 2.1
Case 2.1 Server Downtime
As part of the first assignment, research and analysis of the downtime on a client's primary network
servers during the month of April must be done in order to further prepare a presentation to the
company's management.
Downtime refers to a period of time that a system fails to provide or perform its primary function.
The term is commonly applied to networks and servers. Server downtime, a period of time when the
server is unusable, is prevented by close monitoring and management of key server metrics. Server
downtime can result from several problems such as overloaded processors, rapidly expanding
memory usage, disk errors and many more. Through the study of this client's server downtime,

The problem that arises most is memory errors, which happens 10 times out of the total 22. The
second utmost problem that arises is lockups, which occurred 6 times. Since the month of April has
4 weeks, Weekly virus scans occurred 4 times. Slow startup and manual restart occurred only once
per cause. The frequency distribution table can be used to construct a simple bar graph that
represents the data. The horizontal axis of the bar chart corresponds to the 5 problem experienced in
the frequency distribution table while the vertical axis corresponds to the frequency.
Following the frequency distribution and bar graph, further analysis must be done by using the last
set of data which is the downtime data. Downtime data is collected in minutes that vary from 10 to
60 minutes. Each occurrence out of the 22 has a certain number of downtime minutes. To make the
representations, explanations, calculations and analysis straightforward, the data is taken from the
April–Server Downtime table then separated into the 5 cause categories and calculate each
categories total downtime before creating representational graphs and charts.

System Downtime: IT Support In Furchester College
System Downtime
System downtime can happen in many different ways within Furchester College such a maintenance
taking place or hardware errors by this, the users cannot perform routines daily, but this can be
stopped by an IT Support if they follow the correct policies and procedures in the right way. If a
system downtime occurs this can be harmful for the college because if the servers go down, this will
result in students and teachers losing work if they have not backed up already or corruptions could
occur if they were copying it. If the IT support in Furchester college need the systems to go down
for maintenance, they would need permission from senior management before they do any kind of
maintenance. This is so that all the staff and students will be aware that the systems are down for
certain time.
Disruption
A disruption can occur in a workplace where something unexpected can happen anytime which is
why Furchester College must have procedures into place because if it does happen they can take
actions to resolve issues as quick and safely as possible. In Furchester college if disruptions have
occurred within the server then the IT technician must prepare if that happens such as backing up the
data so nothing gets corrupted or lost. Staff and students should use cloud storage to back up ...

The Final Deployment Model Is Like No Other

  • 1. The Final Deployment Model Is Like No Other The final deployment model is like no other. It is called a hybrid cloud deployment. Unlike being only available to the public or to a specific organization, a hybrid is a combination of the others. The cloud starts out as separate clouds, and is combined by standards and technology that manipulates the clouds to satisfy the needs of each (NIST). An example is like a hybrid course where the material is divided among online and in class, and each load is split based on how much time is allocated to each. All things considered from models, to characteristics, to deployment models one must choose wisely and understand how each combination works and how it would work for the intended purpose. Among most things, there are upfront cost, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alternatively, if it resides in–house then the IT resources would need to remain and maintain the cloud. There again lies the decision of how the company would need to allocate the cost and resources to move towards cloud computing. Once it is known how the upfront cost and location will be handled, then comes the accounting portion for the upfront cost for the cloud. Just like lease accounting, there are certain criteria that must be met before knowing whether to capitalize or expense the cost, and where to place on the financial statements. To capitalize the cost, the consumer must meet two requirements. First, the consumer must be able to obtain ownership of the cloud (Conaghan). Secondly, the consumer must be able to run the cloud on their own hardware, or said consumer can contract another host (Conaghan). If the consumer meets these requirements, they can capitalize and consider it a service contract. Once considered as a service contract, the consumer will then depreciate the software and label it as a fixed asset on the balance sheet (Depth). This will allow for the consumer to expense over the life of the cloud. Conversely, if the two criteria are not met the consumer must use the expenditure method. The expenditure method requires that all upfront cost must be expensed at once (as incurred), and reflect on the balance sheet as such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Case Analysis Of Cloud Networking Today, large corporations have employees in several locations around the world. It is imperative each employee can access and update important information to provide the most up to date data to the rest of the organization. Cloud hosting provides a path to ensure open communication channels for an organization to adequately operate on the global scale. Crowd hosting allows the use of more than one server to reduce downtimes in the case of a mechanical malfunction. An organization can sign a services agreement with a cloud hosting vendor to secure access to the technology. As with any purchase, business leaders must ensure the chosen vendor is the best option for the organization. For the purposes of this decision, I have chosen to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... HostGator provides an alternative hosting opportunity for prospective organizations. Founded in 2002, HostGator has been in the hosting industry for a long time. The company has consistently grown since its humble beginnings, and now has offices in several countries around the world in order to continually expand their customer base. "Aimed primarily at the semi–technical user, Host Gator's flexibility is their strong suit"(Frankel, 2017, para 3). This distinction allows more tech–savvy businesses to pick and choose desired features to ensure the final product is pleasing. "HostGator has near limitless options and control, however, they require a little more knowledge than beginner–focused web hosts"(Frankel, 2017, para 4). HostGator has developed an outstanding reputation in the hosting community for its performance. The company offers reliable services at competitive prices by affording organizations the flexibility to choose the services needed instead of simply offering rigid packages. HostGator boasts an extremely advanced datacenter to ensure redundancy in their server network to prevent downtime. They have incorporated a level of redundancy that prevents single point of failure in order to deliver services as advertised. While HostGator has a great reputation of performance, it must perform well in key performance indicators (KPI) identified by prospective clients to turn them into customers. It is important for an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Role Of The Power Industry And The Services It Provides Essay The main goal of DTL Power's cybersecurity strategy is maintaining data integrity and availability of resources while ensuring that all systems and facilities exceed the industry standards. This strategy is critically important due to the nature of the power industry and the services it provides. The implementation of the controls falls in line with the cybersecurity strategy designated by leadership. The hacktivist and virus attack were able to successfully penetrate our system causing downtime and affecting system integrity. Cyberattacks are becoming more frequent and evasive therefore it is imperative that strong security measures be enforced to not only secure network resources but to prevent unauthorized access. In order to prevent unauthorized access to DTL Power's data, the cybersecurity team has selected strict filtering controls to secure the firewall with the strictest configurations to better control traffic traversing the network and disabling all unnecessary open ports. A firewall with strict filtering rules detects intrusions and prevents unauthorized access by policing the traffic and access requests to the firewall. By disabling firewall ports that are not necessary for normal communication, attack opportunities are greatly reduced. Devices use specific ports for communicating so it is important to conduct a thorough inquiry into which ports need to remain open. An attacker can take advantage of open ports, gain access and create a backdoor for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Differences And Similarities Between Frankenstein And Grendel Frankenstein's Monster along with Grendel are both monsters that society ignores their existence and both of their societies finds them to be a distress. Their societies doesn't enjoy them because they are not like the rest of society. Both the Monster and Grendel aim to find their place in society along with their purpose and reasoning to life. Considering their happiness comes at infrequent times, both eventually accept their role into society by coping with themselves and their inner traits to be loyal with themselves, continuing to be more intelligent and be on the correct path. Just about every human being that has every existed has wondered to themselves, "What is the meaning to life?" "Why am I here?" Grendel and the Monster are no ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Up until the twenty first century, gays were often the outcast of modern society. As our society gets more and more secular, as it should, there will be even less outcasts of society. In the Monster and Grendel's time, they were the outcasts of their society for good and bad reasons. Both of them would get judged and scare people on first sight. "All men hate the wretched" (Shelley 128) It's amazing the negative attention a peasant would get where a king would not. A popular person will dodge harassment from society where a not so popular person would not. What a peasant would do is not appropriate for a king to do. The reason I say this is, the only difference between acts of violence and courageous acts is the matter of who commits them. "The incitement to violence depends upon total trans valuation of the ordinary values. By a single stroke, the most criminal acts may be converted to heroic and meritorious deeds". (Gardner 117) It's sad to say, but society can oppress the undesirables. "Murder and mayhem are the life and soul of revolution." (Gardner 119) All throughout time, the history books were written by the ones in control. Who were the ones in control? The ones that murdered until they themselves got murdered due to a revolution. Society only condemns the unfortunate, but unfortunates attract each other. "We may not part until you have promised to comply with my requisition. I am ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Chain Elongation In The Escalators For this particular project profit is not a concern, but rather the concern is to increase customer satisfaction. This is going to be done by having predictive maintenance on the elongation of the chain in the escalators, rather than reactive maintenance. Currently, BART is reacting to the effects of chain elongation on escalators which causes maintenance to be rather expensive but most importantly inconvenient for customers. BART is currently doing this because some of the escalators are older so they do not have any automation associated with them. At this moment, when an escalator breaks down due to chain elongation there is major downtime to repair it because it is in need of emergency maintenance. With emergency reactive maintenance an ... • 11. ATOM Risk Management Paper Risk management needs to be an ongoing process, occurring throughout the project, because of the ever–changing aspect of risk. ATOM process includes both major and minor reviews to maintain the vigilance required when dealing with project risk. Major reviews are designed to occur at key points in the project to review the status of the risks and to evaluate the actions taken. Reviews evaluate the effectiveness of the risk plan and make changes to that plan to keep up with the changes in the risks. The major review is scheduled for major milestone points in the project, identified as part of the risk. management plan. The risk register should have all the current information about the risks when the review begins. In addition, the project manager will provide information with regards to the project status and the review point. The risks will be reviewed with regards to their status, changes in probability or impact, and the actions described for the risks. Any new risks will be assessed and actions will be identified. Because risk needs to be monitored throughout the project and not just at major points, our process would contain provisions for minor reviews too. • 13. Disconnect Of Communication By Employers Disconnect of Communication by Employers: Evaluating the Aftermath of Technical Failures Businesses have become extremely reliant on technology over the past few decades. Processes from accounting to marketing to board meetings are done using special applications and software developed to improve productivity as well as to shrink the distance between office locations. With the invention of computers for ease of day–to–day functions, to creating a global network that connects people around the world in seconds, the success or demise of a corporation can be determined by its digital components. An efficient, high–tech structure maintained by well–educated and skilled associates gives an organization the ability to perform more effectively, nationally and internationally. When system outages occur, tasks executed on the network cannot be completed, halting productivity and potentially costing the company financial loss. The speed of recovery in these instances is crucial, but so is the implementation itself. Inadequate handling of procedures and mediocre responses from leaders in a crisis situation involving network/technical failures can wreak havoc on an organization, negatively impacting public image, corporate profits and trust of associates. From the time an outage begins, the business is at risk of adverse side effects beyond normal production. One of the most important initiatives of a company is to create a strong brand that produces a profit. Implementation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Prioritisation The company should prioritize some of the aspect when performing repair as they might be more important and they should be repaired first. For example if network is down and at the same time printer is not working. The person that perform repair should concentrate on repairing network instead of printer as without network printer would be useless. Contractual Requirements In a company, the support team staff would be required to work shifts that will provide coverage for the employees when the offices are officially opened, they will also need to provide extra time in the evening and weekends, where they will carry out the essential maintenance which may have to involve some downtime. The hours that an employee will have to work will be set out for them in what is called an employment contract. They will be limited by the EU legislation and some other regulations such as working time regulations, which will provide the basic right and protections such as: A worker can be required to work at most an average of 48 hours a week (though workers can choose to work more if they want to). • 17. Operational Failures Occur Within Organizations Across All... EXECUTIVE SUMMARY – Operational failures occur within organizations across all industries, with consequences ranging from minor inconveniences to major catastrophes. How can managers encourage frontline workers to solve problems in response to operational failures? In the manufacturing industry, the setting for this study, operational failures occur due to an internal constraint which is the over use of one major machine. Using data reported from both the production and sale teams, the researcher found that problem–solving in response to operational failures is influenced by both the downtime posed by the constraint and the extent to which the organization incurs a lost. Findings can be used by the organization to increase the management awareness of the extent to which downtime affects the operation process and ways by which improvement can take place.. Key concepts include: Operational failures that trigger more financial and liability risks are associated with more break down of the machine. By communicating the importance of problem– solving and engaging in problem–solving themselves, line managers can stimulate increased problem–solving among workers. Even without managers ' regular engagement in problem–solving, communication about its importance can promote more problem–solving among workers. By explaining some of the variation in responsiveness to operational failures, this study empowers managers to adjust their approach to stimulate more problem–solving within the ... Biomass densification by screw briquetting produces uniform, dense and durable solids desirable for gasification, process heating, power generation and other heating applications which are currently run by coal. Due to high wear rate, the screw and mould used for forming the briquettes deteriorate leading to regular production stoppage and considerable down time losses. Hence Indian entrepreneurs are apprehensive to adopt screw briquetting technology in spite of its potential. In this work improvement in productivity parameters are tested for predetermined replacement of screw before considerable damage is done. If the excess biomass materials are compacted to briquettes near their source they can be transported to longer distances, stored for more duration unaffected much by humidity [9] and put into versatile uses. There are many methods of densification available and screw briquetting is one good choice for producing high quality briquettes, a sample of which is shown in fig 2. These types of briquettes have uniform dimensions, high calorific value, less moisture are desirable feed stock for gasification systems, process heating and power generation applications. But the screw briquetting technology is having its own shortcomings like, the life of its parts like screw and mould are very short due to high wear rate, need of skilled labors to run the machine and wastage of energy for heating the raw material and the mould. The heating process is needed to eliminate moisture and volatile matters and to melt the lignin content in the raw material which acts like a binder. The quality of briquettes produced justifies the use of skilled labor. Due to high wear rate of screw and mould particularly the screw which have very short life about 4 to 15 hrs [10] there are regular stoppages of production, reconstruction of tools and wastage of output.Research works are going on all over the world in designing compact briquetting machines, ... Approach These three approaches have all their advantages and disadvantages and allow a great number of combinations. Our idea is to implement a three–step solution. The first phase of our solution is concerned with improving the current situation and overcoming the shortfall in a fast and inexpensive way. According to exhibit "current situation" we can identify two bottlenecks in our current production process, "Add Paste to Cup" and "Inspect Carbon Rods". Those are below the necessary capacity of 540 units/min. To overcome this, we suggest adding one additional machine ("Add Paste to Cup") from the factory in Guarulhos to reach a overall capacity of 540 units/min and engage two more persons, one to operate the additional machine and one in the "Inspect Carbon Rods"–operation (exhibit alternative II). The second phase, after the installation of the machines from Guarulhos, has the goal to improve the current production to an extend that: – Average Downtime shall be reduced by 30% – The quality of the batteries shall be increased with the long–term objective of eliminating the final electrical output test To reach this goal, first all the processes in the plant need to be scrutinized. Second, problems need to be identified, analyzed and solved in the manner of Kaizen. The third objective is, to implement quality control on the running belt. Business Impact Analysis Paper Databases – Implement High Availability for Mission Critical Mission critical databases support services that have an immediate, direct, and significant impact on revenue, goodwill, health and safety, and regulatory compliance. They require more attention than other systems. I will be discussing the following topics in this paper 1. Understand why implementing high availability for mission critical databases is so important to IT's success. 2. Learn why true availability relies on people, process, and technology. 3. Understand database methodology and approach to implementing high availability. Current Situation: For most systems, efficient backup/recovery processes and technology will meet recovery time (RTO) and recovery point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, an Info–Tech survey found that a BIA has a significant impact on setting appropriate recovery time objectives (RTOs) and appropriate spending. Mission critical system uptime depends on people, process, and technology. If people and processes are ignored, the system becomes significantly more vulnerable to human error – the number one cause of downtime. My Research Recommendation: Integrate these principles when planning for high availability Step 1 – Take a proactive approach to high availability. Attention to and investment in high availability tends to happen reactively after system failures. When you proactively address high availability, you'll give yourself time to holistically approach HA and address people, process, and technology gaps. Step 2– It is the responsibility of IT to ensure the business has been informed about the options and costs of higher availability. Business users can't assess time impact of downtime in an information vacuum. IT team SMEs – often acutely aware of the impact of system downtime – should take a first cut to assess the impact of downtime, achievable recovery times, and options to improve availability Step 3 – It is the responsibility of the business to decide what projects to fund. Business stakeholders must decide whether to fund a project, not the IT team. It is up to the business to make an informed decision about the availability investments ... Debate Over Stimulated And Overly Connected Over Stimulated and Overly Connected: It Maybe Time to Unwind and Disconnect Jacquelyn Gentry Eastern Kentucky University Over Stimulated and Overly Connected: It Maybe Time to Unwind and Disconnect For many parents; such as myself, it is not uncommon to have a different activity to drive your child to each night. As a parent of a teenager, it is not uncommon to see his loving face aglow from the light of his cell phone. In today 's age there is an incessant need to always be busy our selves in fear of being perceived as lazy or perhaps unsuccessful. A parent who choses to not engage their child in multiple after–school activities is thought to be disengaged or uninterested in their child 's development. A child who does not get to be involved in organized activities can easily feel left out at school when everyone else is talking about their little league team or dance class. This drive to always be doing something transfers over, as these children grow into their teenage years. As teenagers, they become very socially engaged via social media. They develop an overwhelming need to be in constant contact and socially accepted by their peers. To cut a teenager off from their device is to socially exile them from the world. In other words, it is considered "cruel and unusual punishment". Back in the day, to go to one 's room and have "down time" was normal and okay. It allotted you the opportunity to unwind, think about your day, come up with possible resolutions.to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Challenge the Vendor As a member of an organization acquiring a new Picture Archiving Communications Systems (PACS) software, it is imperative to make certain of several vendor challenges that sales representatives won't address in depth. With PACS applications there are continuous challenges because of the complexity and constant evolving technology in the Imaging sector of health care. Particularly, there are three encounters which I will address that a PACS vendor may not identify the imperfections of their application. Primarily integration capabilities are huge to countless in Imaging, as most PACS software's struggle to be well matched with the Radiology Information System or the Health Information System. It is essential for the PACS application being purchased have a platform that is compatible with the software's already within the organization in order for the workflow to be efficient. Another topic vendors tend to breeze over are downtimes and how often they may occur. Although downtimes shouldn't occur frequently the departments need to be established and up to date on downtime scenarios, which the vendor should provide support for 24/7. In addition the vendor should have solutions in order to make sure the departments are fully functional even during a downtime scenario. The third phase, which would come into play approximately one year after starting phase II, would be dedicated to acquire the Pan–Orient machine, or whatever machine would satisfy our need at that time. With this machine and the improvements we did so far, we would be definitively able to eliminate the battery–testing loop, resulting in a payback of about 2.9 years of this machine. Furthermore, we could fight the increasing competition more efficiently, which we expect in 1995 when the import taxes drop. We think that we found a good mixture of different approaches to overcome the under–capacity of Joboatão and are well prepared for the future competitions and demands. Furthermore this approach enables us to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 57. Incident Management: Unplanned Interruption Of IT Services 1. What is an Incident? An incident is an unplanned interruption of IT services or a reduction in the quality of an IT service. Incidents interrupt ordinary day to day technical service, such as when a computer has a virus or it is not properly working like it was meant to be. These are unintended incidents that require assistance from the service desk or help desk to repair the normal function. 2. What is the goal of Incident Management? Some other goals are detecting events that could interrupt service and resolving the incidents and lowering downtime for the company. Incident management also needs to maintain quality of the service ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not having guide lines and rules will lower customer satisfactions, end up costing the company money and rising downtime for clients. 4. Why is it just as important to assign roles and responsibilities to certain employees to own the Incident Management process or even to manage the life of an Incident? It's important to assign roles and responsibilities to certain employees to own the incident management process. Assigning duties and responsibilities is imperative if the company doesn't want confusions of what they are responsible for which will result in delaying the resolution of an incident. If not, employees will have inadequate, inaccurate or incomplete information about the incident and their role. 5. • 76. Research Methodology : Cloud Computing Downtime Cloud Computing Downtime Part One: My Proposed Research Methodology Generally, two sources of data are in existence: primary and secondary. In my research project, I intent to utilize both sources. The rationale for my choice of both sources is that in research work, there is a need that one use almost all available secondary data sources before undertaking to complete a primary study (Sappleton, 2013). In addition, secondary data is readily available and will give insight into the development of a hypothesis for my study. Therefore, I will check all the available data sources from peer reviewed journals both at the university library and online through google scholar and other search engines. Accessing sources from the library will need permission from the librarians while completion of the primary study will need an informed consent of the participants. I will use a survey in which I will design both open–ended and closed questionnaires that I will administer on my target population to collect data (Sappleton, 2013). The criterion for the choice of my target population will be people who work within technical departments of companies that use IT. I will use a relatively small sample of respondents because the topic of my study is quite sensitive as it concerns security. It is therefore, important that only a few people exchange information about the topic. At the completion, of my primary study, I will use a stratified sampling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The frequency distribution table can be used to construct a simple bar graph that represents the data. The horizontal axis of the bar chart corresponds to the 5 problem experienced in the frequency distribution table while the vertical axis corresponds to the frequency. Following the frequency distribution and bar graph, further analysis must be done by using the last set of data which is the downtime data. Downtime data is collected in minutes that vary from 10 to 60 minutes. Each occurrence out of the 22 has a certain number of downtime minutes. To make the representations, explanations, calculations and analysis straightforward, the data is taken from the April–Server Downtime table then separated into the 5 cause categories and calculate each categories total downtime before creating representational graphs and charts.
