Creating A Shared Bedroom For Kids
When boys and girls in a family exceed the number of available bedrooms, it becomes necessary to
look for creative ways to divide a shared space. This is especially challenging with a boy and girl
must share the same bedroom, but it can be done with a few clever decorating tips and tricks.
Consider the following creative ways to divide a shared bedroom for kids, and give the kids sharing
a room their very own area to sleep, play, and dress in their own private space. Begin with Paint
When searching for creative ways to divide and decorate a shared bedroom for kids, begin by
making a dramatic statement with color. To define and divide the shared space, apply two colors to
divide the bedroom in half. For example, if a girl and a boy must share a bedroom, paint half of the
room a cool shade of blue. Paint the other half of the shared bedroom a soft shade of lilac. This
works well if the colors share the same intensity. Use a measuring tape and a level to determine each
half of the shared bedroom, and divide it with painter 's tape for a neat and clean edge. The shared
room will have a unique and impressive look that will give each child a space to call their own.
Visually Divide a Shared Room with Window Treatments When a window is in the center of a
shared wall painted two different colors, maintain the look by using two different colors of the same
style of window treatments. Buy two sets of the same curtains and valances in colors that will
coordinate well with the two

Persuasive Essay On Children With Leukemia
One day while reading the paper, Karen Loucks, the founder of Project Linus, discovered an article
on a young girl who was diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. She had a security blanket that she took
with her to two years of intensive chemotherapy. When she began chemo, 97% of her bone marrow
had cancerous cells. Chemo rid this child of cancer, but she still endures nausea, loss of hair, and
high fevers. After reading about the leukemia patient in the paper, she decided to go to the Rocky
Mountain Children's Cancer Center with six freshly crocheted blankets. She decided to present the
idea to a man named Dr. Edward Arenson. He loved the idea, and took her to children receiving
infusions. Each of them took one for themselves, receiving comfort from this object. After
delivering the blankets, Karen asked Ed to estimate how many children he sees a year, and he said
about 100. On the drive home, she decided to make an organization for children in the Rocky
Mountain Children's Hospital that would donate blankets to those struggling through their
experience with cancer. When she told her crocheting group, The Hooker's Club, about this idea, a
woman by the name of Shirley Hardin decided to donate the first blanket to the cause. After that one
donation, the organization began to take off! Karen decided to go to the local newspaper press and
get Project Linus in the newspaper. Sure enough, the next week, there was an article on Project
Linus, saying what the organization does for the

Should Students Be Allowed To Bring Their Blanket To...

Students are losing work time due to being cold. Should students be able to bring their blankets to
school with them? Why or why not? If we allow students to bring their blankets to school with them
then there's going to be less kids stressed out about their work because they'll be content and
soothed. There's going to be less students who will be late to school in the mornings because they
won't be freaking out on what they should wear to match the different temperatures throughout the
school. There is the possibly if we allow students to bring blankets to school that it will get other

The group feels that students shouldn't be able to bring their blankets to school with them because
students around them or themself will become off topic because more kids will be focused on what's
going on with the blankets. This group feels that by allowing blanket use in the classroom, students
would actually get bad grades. With that argument made students who bring their blankets are going
to cause other around them to get bad grades on their assignments because they won't have a clue on
what's going on in class, the kids who have blankets will cause problems for others who are trying to
do what their told. Some feel that the students who bring their blankets will fall asleep due to being
too comfortable during their school hours, causing them to lose out on getting work done and they'll
fall behind the rest of the class. With students becoming more tired because of having their blankets
then they're more likely to get bad grades, fall behind, be confused on what's going on, in class, and
even distract the other students around them who actually want to get their work

Analysis Of Floyd 's ' The Blanket '
Floyd Dell's "The Blanket" is a story about family and relationships; it is about Petey's family. Petey
is a grandson who loves his grandfather dearly. He tries to behave like an adult and saves his
grandfather from a lonely life in an old folk's home. The relationship between Petey and his dad got
strained because his dad was sending his grandfather away in order to marry a women that Petey did
not like.
The events in the story are presented by the author in chronological order. The author introduces the
main characters and the setting of the story at the beginning. The story takes place on a fine
September night, under a silver moon outside on the porch of Petey's home. "I'll get my fiddle," said
the grandfather to his grandson Petey, "and play ye some of the old tunes." Instead the grandfather
brings a big, expensive, double blanket, that is red with black cross stripes which is a going away
present from his son, Petey's dad. Petey's feelings are stirred because he knows that it is the last
night he will be spending with his grandfather as he will be sent away in the morning. He sadly
realized this when he saw the blanket. He wanted to cry but at the age of eleven, he felt that he was
too old to do so. The grandfather played many old songs on his fiddle that reflect the joys and
sorrows the family have experienced together. This shows the reader that the grandfather
experiences a deep internal conflict. He probably experiences sadness and a little regret because he

Critique Of The Striped Blanket
The Striped Blanket
In 1911 Louie B. Felt was walking through the park when she saw a handicapped child. After seeing
the handicapped child it inspired Louie to dedicate a hospital to help children. That hospital is now
called Primary Children's Hospital. Thousands of individual children receive extraordinary care each
year at Primary Children's, provided in an atmosphere of love.
Primary Children's Hospital had been serving in the Salt lake City area since the early twentieth
centuries. The hospital first began as a church sponsored organization that opened a 33 bed facility.
The 33 bed facility opened in an old home that was located across the road form the Latter Day
Saints temple square. When the hospital first opened its doors it was called the LDS hospital due to
the fact that it was sponsored by the LDS church( History–Primary Children's Hospital).
When the children would have their surgeries they would be done at the main hospital and soon after
they were done they would be moved to the primary facility to heal. If a patient was critically ill or
chronic they would be hospitalized in the main hospital. If the patient was hospitalized the parents
would rarely get to see their child which was heartbreaking. Parents weren't allowed to see their
child due to the chance of infections or diseases. When the hospital first opened it had to be very
careful with diseases because medicine was not as advanced as it is now. (History–Primary
Children's Hospital).

Blankets For Hope Community Analysis
As individuals we are only a small part of a bigger picture, however we all have the capability of
making a huge impact. Two years ago I created a club named Blankets for Hope, an organization
that provides warm blankets for the homeless. It began when I decided to volunteer at the Rose
Parade. Scattered across the sidewalks and under makeshift tents, were an untold amount of curled
up bodies. Although shocking to my eyes, the city's residents walked past them as if they were just
part of the daily scenery. Refusing to accept the site, I was moved to begin Blankets for Hope. While
the club is small in size, the impact it had not only the community, but on myself is large.
Blankets for Hope is the tool which I use to share my desire to build a strong community. Through
giving out handmade blankets at homeless shelters, I can connect the public together to find strength
and hope in one another. This club has a special place in my heart because it also deepened my
personal relationships with friends and family. Hangouts on the weekends consisting of mindless
video games and silent movie nights were replaced with blanket making and genuine conversations.
In addition, Blankets for Hope allowed me to further unite like–minded peers who want to utilize
their time and efforts to help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Blankets for Hope is just a small helping hand in the grand scheme of things. Personally, I proudly
view this club as not small, but rather a stepping stone. This club has provided me with skills that in
the future I will be able unlock the potential I contain as not just a leader, but as a student, employee,
or coworker. I plan on carrying out my desire to strengthen the community around me throughout
life–inside and out the classroom. My experience with Blankets for Hope showed me that I am not
bounded by doubts or fears of not succeeding. Rather I am driven by my ambitions, my confidence,

Blankets In First Nation Connotations
Throughout the centuries, the gift of a blanket has been associated with feelings of warmth, respect
and kindness from those giving a blanket towards those receiving it. Our article below covers just a
few of the aspects that come to mind when we give a blanket as a gift or even when we dream about
blankets in a dream or see one in a vision of sorts.
Blankets In First Nation Connotations
Depending on the particular first nation identity, such as Dakota, or even down to specific tribes
within a first nation, the blanket may mean something different from one national identity to
another. Moreover, they may be given during different times for various reasons.
For instance, a respected Teton Sioux elder may choose to wrap a wool blanket around ... Show

In other words, the spirit of the father transfers to the younger who then passes it on to perhaps a
misunderstood child later on in life. Essentially, with the mere laying on of a blanket on their
shoulders or on their backs, an adoption process takes place; moreover, the family and tribe grows
with subsequent members who then become part of the community.
Blanket–Giving In Other Cultures
Once again, depending on the culture in which blankets are given, blankets become talismans and
take on a spiritual dimension especially when worn in some dance ritual. Blankets can symbolize
transitions in life such as weddings, graduations or new additions to a family. They can also mean
legendary events, stories and the culture's heritage.
As such, they express a form of craftsmanship, artistry, history and the represented culture itself.
Blankets can even facilitate travel by transferring the spirits of those who gave them as companions
on a distance journey.
In some South African and Lesotho cultures, blankets mark rites of passage. In certain parts of
China, blankets are among the most cherished gifts that are commonly given. For the Australian and
New Zealand Aboriginals, they believe that the giving of blankets initiates a stream of good dreams

The Documentary ' The Blanket '
The blanket was a scratchy, uncomfortable, way too heavy, and the color of pepto bismol. Still, it
smelled like him and so Nico tightened the wool fabric around himself. Somewhere in the distance
he could hear the sound of a television playing. Was it his? The TV was always on wasn't it? But the
sound was so distorted it couldn't possibly in the lounge with him. If the TV were on in here, it
wouldn't sound like it was underwater. The TV couldn't possibly be on.
Except the TV was on, something Nico found out when he looked up from his now cold pasta to
find a news anchor on the screen. There was a picture of a mug shot in the corner of a screen, a bald
man with beady eyes and a tattoo curling from his eyebrow to around his throat.

"He's dead." Nico's voice was stronger than he expected, but shaky nonetheless. "I'm sorry if my
moping is bothering you, but my boyfriend is dead and it's my fault."
Derek was obviously exasperated by this speech. Jason's suicide was the only thing Nico had talked
about since it happened. He removed himself from the table and walked to the other side of the
room.
"It's his fault, technically," Derek insisted, picking at his nails like the topic bored him. "I mean he's
the one who pulled the trigger."
The image of Jason's lifeless body bleeding out on the floor of their bedroom flashed across Nico's
mind. Something was making it harder to breathe, something constricting his chest, every time he
thought about walking home to their shared apartment, only to find his boyfriend dead, his desk
empty save for the note with Nico's name written on it.
The note, the last remaining piece of Jason Grace, it tore Nico's heart to shreds. Jason had known, of
course he'd known, he always knew. But he stayed silent, allowing Nico to drive the dagger in more.
And Derek, god, Derek was still here, standing in the lounge, standing in his place.
"He killed himself because I was sleeping with you." Not that Derek needed a reminder. He was
well aware of why Jason offed himself. It was written there on the letter, in plain black ink. No
questions remained.
None of his friends offered their consolations, why should they? Nico doesn't blame them.

Descriptive Essay About Bamboo Bedding
How Bamboo Bedding Keeps You Cozy on a Frosty Winter Night
It's that time of year again. The leaves are changing to brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows, painting
the landscape in the beautiful glow of fall. Yet, autumn leaves also mean that winter is right around
the corner. With chilly nights ahead, what type of bedding should you use to stay warm this winter?
Well, if you want to stay cozy and warm this winter, try organic bamboo bedding. Below are some
ways bamboo bedding helps to keep you cozy on a frosty winter night.
First, bamboo bedding is fantastic at insulating heat.
Second, bamboo bedding reduces the level of humidity in your bed.
Third, bamboo bedding decreases your chances of disease.
Forth and finally, bamboo bedding is incredibly soft and smooth.
Insulates Heat
To start with, bamboo bedding is phenomenal at insulating heat, making it the ideal bedding for
winter weather. This organic bedding insulates heat because the fibers of bamboo are dense and
thick. In fact, they have an almost plush feel to them. Furthermore, when you're wrapped up in a
bamboo comforter, you feel like you're being embraced by a warm, plush cloud.
Additionally, bamboo bedding doesn't need to be bulky to keep you warm. For instance, bamboo
comforters don't need tons of layers since bamboo efficiently insulates heat. This helps bamboo
bedding to be lighter and lay flatter than traditional bedding. When your bedding isn't as bulky, it
doesn't weigh you down and you're more

Essay on Saddle Breaking and Training a Horse
The art of breaking a horse, really just depends on the horse and rider. Before you ever ride, or tack
up your horse, you always have to know if the horse is ready, willing, and responsive to you on the
ground, then you can start. If he or she is not willing or responsive to you when you are on the
ground, he or she will not respect you when you are riding. Make sure the horse knows the terms
walk, trot, canter, and whoa, or any terms you use in replace of walk, trot, or woah, it will be a lot
easier for you, and the horse will understand more. To make sure your horse is responsive to you on

Walk him or her around the yard, or any acreage that you have, it's good for both you and him or
her. You have to be expecting anything, and everything that would happen. Like if a piece of paper
or a bag flies by you, or a dog, bird, cat runs past you or a dog is barking, and they spook and try to
take off or starts rearing up or bucking. Always be on your toes, and make sure you're holding on to
excess lead and the knot or clip connecting to the halter, and NEVER, wrap your hand around the
lead rope! If you do, and you're not paying a lot of attention, and your
foal/yearling/mare/stallion/gelding spooks and runs, you're going with him. And another thing, make
sure he is respectful, lead him, don't let him lead you. Do not let him eat the grass when you are
walking, kick his nose, don't let him jog while you want to walk, make him run in circles, if you let
him do that, then he gets his way, and won't listen to you as well.
First, the best thing to do is lunge, it's best if you have a round pin so they can't go anywhere, or pull
away from you; get a halter with the metal rings and get a lunge line about 25 or so feet, but when
you lunge, start out with only a little bit of lunge line, then progress up to the whole 25 feet, and
make sure the lunge line has a clip on the end to hook it on the halter, and if you have to, get a lunge

Electric Blanket Advantages And Disadvantages
An electric blanket has an electrical heating device built in that is meant to be placed above the bed
sheet. In Commonwealth countries, however, it refers to an electric mattress pad that is kept below
the bottom bed sheet. They comprise a control unit that allows the user to adjust the heat produced
by the device. Larger size beds may even have two separate control units for both sides of the bed.
An electric blanket can be useful to heat the bed to a certain level before sleeping to keep the
occupant cosy and warm. Typical low voltage electric blankets work on 12–24 volts and are made of
thin carbon fibre wires. The electric blanket was invented more than a century ago by American
inventor Samuel Russell, while the first recorded sale in the electric blanket market was by the
Samson United Corporation in 1930.

polar or temperate regions which suffer from long and harsh winters. A lot of buyers are able to save
substantially on their electric bills by looking at the electric blanket market to satisfy their needs.
While electric blankets were very poorly insulated and notoriously thin in the past, they are now
made of thick fleece which provides enough natural insulation and warmth even without the help of
electricity. Modern electric blankets can also be washed along with pillow cases and bed sheets

Talking Blanket
In today's society, ethics and ethical decisions are more crucial than they have ever been in times
past. Just because they are critical to the success or failure of a business does not make them any
easier to deal with or achieve. Such is the case with "The Case of the Talking Blanket" as can be
seen through the answers to some questions pertaining directly to this case study. Question one asks,
"If you were Hans Amir, what would you say to Mr. Hartanto? Due in part to Mr. Amir's need for a

would follow ethical guidelines. Mr. Amir's would most likely respond to the conversation by
pointing out the requests were well outside the scope of anything he was authorized to provide. He

reasonable to expect Mr. Hartanto to move forward by establishing penalties because of the missing
waste filter units as well as going back in creating written warnings in place of the verbal

by making such unprofessional requests. The perceptual differences here are evident in the fact that

delivering them on Friday but my friend and I were busy and we were busy over the weekend too.
So we had to find a time that worked for both of us which was this Tuesday. While in the car we
were both really excited to give the sick kids the blankets. We had to fill out forms telling them what
we were delivering and why and that made feel good just saying that I'm doing it because I want to.
When we arrived we just went up to the welcome desk and the people there seemed very grateful for
our donations. I am kind of sad that we weren't able to give the little blankets to the kids directly but

Effect Of Divorce On Children
Over the last couple of decades the rate of marriages that end in divorce has been steadily
increasing. When a marriage ends children are impacted and it's not only emotional and devastating
the couples but this also has a huge effect on the children of all ages involved. Many parents go
through a divorce disaster with little knowledge of the effects that the children may go through.
Some of the most common impacts that divorce has on children include the fact that children tend to
start to blame themselves for the divorce, adjusting in areas of social relationships, there are
behavioral issues that arise, and there often becomes a challenge to balance the feeling of stability
between the separate parents. These are just a few of the most common challenges that children face
when presented with the reality of divorce in the family. When we understand the negative effects in
which children are impacted by divorce, the hope is that couples will devote time and energy toward
any opportunities to savage the marriage.
Caught in the Middle 3
While there are many people who go through divorce these days, there are also many children who
suffer from the impacts of divorce on their mind and emotions. (McConville, D. 2013 p 4) One of
the most common impacts of divorce on children is the element of the child feeling like it is his or
her fault. In the initial stages of divorce it can be very important to prevent resentment toward the
other parent. Parents should know about the

Soccer Blanket Analysis
Soccer players use many different drills and plays to become better at the game.Usually coaches
have pictures of these drills to help explain the play. In this photo by Jones is a soccer drill that
teams can practice for when they want to cross the soccer ball in and score a goal (n/p). The purpose
of the picture is to demonstrate an offensive play that a soccer team can use in a game to score a

positioning is for soccer players, however it doesn't show how to completely become an expert in

A Cold Bed With No Blanket
I stare up at the ceiling in the darkness, my mind clouded with questions like the foggy city outside.
The moon and stars are hidden within the haze. Slivers of light manage to make it through the
crooked, half open blinds and onto the old wall.
I turn my head on my pillow and squeeze my eyes shut, trying to forget about my past nightmares
and fall asleep, but my insomnia hits and I lay awake in a mental state where I am dreaming, but
comprehending the real world at the same time.
There is no end to this horror. It's burning me from the inside out, scorching my mind. I reach up
and touch my forehead lightly – fever. Yet, I lay in a cold bed with no blanket.
I give up on sleep tonight like every other day this week and sit up on the side of my bed, my feet
barely touching the ground. They graze the cold, metal floor, careful to avoid the sharp nails poking
up from the abandoned apartment below.
I slip on my grey and patchy bunny slippers, wiggling my big toe out of of one the many holes that
were created over months of wear and tear. I quietly walk down the stairs of the building. Ducking
below the vines that covered the entrance and emerging outside to an empty street, the chorus of
crickets and frogs fill my ears. They seemed unusually loud tonight.
I step onto a soft, slippery bundle on the ground. A newspaper from the day prior. I slowly pick up
the plastic covering and walk back into the building. I reach up and try to find a cord hanging from
the ceiling.

Craig Thompson's Blankets Essay
Craig Thompson's Blankets weaves the image of blankets with abuse, neglect, romance, and self–
discovery. As a child, Thompson and his brother, Phil, share the same cramped bed and blanket.
During the cold winter nights, a blanket provides warmth and comfort. In contrast, during the
scorching summer nights, blankets become undesirable and cast–off. The significance of blankets is
interlaced with punishment in the Thompson home; a consequence for misbehavior, is lodging in a
dark cubbyhole without the coziness of a blanket. As a young adult, a blanket is interwoven with
Thompson's first love. A quilted blanket becomes both a token of love and a sanctuary for intimacy.
Finally, a blanket serves as a vehicle of self–discovery. Throughout his trials ... Show more content

confront his father. He believes that a good person attends Bible camp, Bible study, and Sunday

church officials, community leaders, and his parents. In church, the Pastor indicates, " That God's
people are rewarded for faith and good acts." His father is not a good person, but is rewarded with a
house, job, and family. Thompson is rewarded with a talent in art, but feels his is not worthy of this
reward. Thompson becomes distraught with the conflicting messages and begins to view his art as
"Selfish pursuits." Eventually, this conflict produces a consuming rage, and Thompson destroys all
his artwork. Tormented and forgotten by his peers, Raina renews his confidence in himself. Through
flirtatious, perfumed, or tape–recorded letters, Thomson is infiltrated with Raina's love and
attention. Raina's sensual L's and F's create excitement and arousal. Although never masturbated

Confusion In Craig's Blankets
Blankets is about growing up, about using your teenage years to make sense of the world and decide
who you want to be. It might be counter–intuitive, then, to say the adults in the book are important:
this is supposed to be Craig's story. But as we grow up, the people who most influence us are the
adults in our lives. They give us advice and they become the role models that we either accept or
reject. As a teenager, Craig feels absolutely confused about whom to become, and it's worth noting
that much of that confusion comes from the adults in his life. By giving us this story through his
own eyes, portraying people and events as he experienced them at the time, he helps to emphasize
the sources of that confusion. Of course, Craig's parents are the most important adults in his life. We
see them most often in flashbacks to his childhood. Who better to influence him? We learn a lot
about how Craig is becoming an adult simply by looking at his parents. One of the first images we
receive of any adult figure is that of his father. In Craig's flashbacks, Craig's father ... Show more

Early in the novel, Thompson illustrates the church and how being there begins to affect Craig. The
confusion is of a different type. Craig wants to believe in God and an afterlife he truly does. Why?
Because Craig has been harassed, tormented, and ruined in the miniscule portion of his earthly life
that he has encountered thus far. A place without judgment is the only place he wanted to be. As he
ages though, Craig's faith prospers and he dives deep into the teachings of the bible and into church.
This also includes his introduction to church camp, the place where he begins to discover the truth
about people, life, and most of all, himself. Church camp was full of people who where supposed to
be like him, a place for him to be safe. That wasn't the case though. Craig felt even worse about
himself during these winter break

Blanket Purchase Agreements
Simplified Acquisition Method
Simplified acquisition methods such as blanket purchase agreements present small firms with the
easiest, cheapest, and quickest path to federal contracts. Blanket purchase agreements or small
purchases, as they are often referred to, are ideal for small contractors although they can also be
used to purchase commercial items costing $5 million dollars (King at al., 2004). The main
advantage of blanket purchase agreements for small firms eyeing federal contracts is that the
government reserves for them simplified acquisitions of federal government supplies and services
valued between $2,500 and $100,000 (GSA.COM, 2015). However, the federal contract officer must

How To Build A Blanket Fort
How to Build A Blanket Fort Making a blanket fort can be quite difficult if the proper precautions
aren't taken. Many things have to be taken into account for building the fort. There are many factors
such as the right place, the proper materials, and the actual way to set it up. The correct place to set
up the fort is also a key factor. You'll want to pick a spot with at least three walls or doors. If there's
not any room for the blanket to hold up, it won't stay. Do not pick somewhere with only one wall,
because the "chair method" won't cut it anymore. The chairs make for no room to spread out and be
comfortable. The perfect spot may take a little while to curate, but it'll work out. One major key is

Personal Narrative Essay : Getting Old
No one ever thinks about what they are going to do when they are old. Getting old is just a way of
life that no one thinks about until it's too late. It all started when we went to Kentucky for our
traditional dinner at grans. I adored the trip up to Gran's home, just for the fact that it was in the
middle of nowhere and we got to pass three sparkling waterfalls. There was always a game of "first
one to find a deer wins", which was quite self explanatory if you ask me. I would always lose
because I was always too tired to stay up the entire ride. I don't know how I did it, but every time I
would wake up, we would be turning onto my Gran's street.
The first thing I remember seeing on this peculiar trip was how all the adults were by the pond
instead of being inside in the house with the warm fire. I wanted to go see what was going on, yet
when I tried to investigate the gloom mood, my father told me to go inside and say hello to the other
children of the family. Being young as I was, I thought nothing of the situation and I rushed inside to
greet my cousins. I was startled when I walked into the house to see a man in a wheelchair staring
off into the vast nothingness. I didn't recognize the man at first, but as I passed him he looked at me.
In exactly that moment, I saw my grandfather in that chair. I was beyond confused as to why he
looked to way he did. I stood there for five minutes even though it felt like like hours. I refused to
believe it was him, since just a short year ago he was a healthy, strong, and courageous man.
Memories flooded my mind like a raging storm. I saw the pastor that everyone looked up to. I
remembered how immersed he would become with his prayers. My favorite sermon he performed
was at my sister's wedding. All he had was an index card, yet he knew exactly what he needed to
say. Everyone in the audience was pulled into his words that we barely noticed it started to lightly
rain, and that he went over about twenty extra minutes. Another time when he driving me to church
and he was just smiling the whole way while humming "This is the Day" by Fred Hammond. He
wasn't paid much, but everyone knew he adored his job. He was the kind of man that could make
anyone smile. When he

Security Blanket Research Paper
Similarly to younger children, I had a security blanket. While the security blanket ordinarily
symbolizes another object cherished by children, my security blanket was literally two infant–sized
blankets. From when I was born to about seven years old, I dragged around two blankets; they were
discolored and rarely washed.
One afternoon, I was clutching my blankets while sitting in the middle of the family room. As I
hugged my blankets, a brilliant idea came into my head. I had decided the blankets would catch the
air and float well if thrown in the air. It was amusing until I held onto the pastel yellow blanket for
slightly too long. The blanket hurled toward the mantel and then caught the air and started floating
downward. My mother had a majestic angel on the mantel; it was given to her from my great–
grandmother. The angel decided she wanted to fly. The blanket ended up serving as a broken
parachute for her; they both catapulted to the ground and the angel shattered. Luckily my mother
was at work, and my grandma was watching me. She just gave a stern look, but helped me clean up

Blankets, By Craig Thompson
The graphic novel Blankets, by Craig Thompson, is an emotionally charged and painfully truthful
account of the author's life as he grew from a young child through the stages of adolescence to
young adulthood. Thompson's account of his life events represents many developmental theories
and philosophies. Bronfenbrenner's theory of systems, Vygotsky's social development theory,
Marcia's theory of the identity, Arnett's theory of emerging adulthood, and Kraft's theory of the
family system are all seen throughout Craig's life. Urie Bronfenbrenner presented his theory of
ecological systems in 1979. In his theory, Bronfenbrenner claims that there are four systems that
work in concert with one another to affect the behavior of an individual (Lobb, 2016). The four
systems that Bronfenbrenner posed were the microsystem, relatable to one's home, the mesosystem,
considered one's home and school, the exosystem, which are organizations outside of school, and
the macrosystem, which involves the government. While the fourth system is not quite present in
Craig's life, the other three are readily recognizable.
As to the microsystem, it can be observed from his home life that Craig's family is of a low
socioeconomic status. Pictures from pages 10 and 11 show that Craig and his brother were forced to
share the same bed as children and that the furniture of their room, specifically the lamp seen on
page 11, was not in pristine condition. Furthering the notion that Craig's family fell within a

Smallpox Blankets Dbq
Smallpox blankets were intentionally used to infect Native Americans during the French and Indian
war. These blankets were given to them from the British as a way to get rid of them, so they can win
the war and eventually get more land. By giving the infected blankets to the Natives they
accomplished their goal. There is a significant amount of evidence that proves this such as letters,
records from the smallpox hospital, documents from William Trent during the time of giving the
blankets, and practice of inoculation.
Biological warfare was used against the Natives according to the letters from Jeffery Amherst to
Colonel Henry Bouquet suggesting the use of smallpox to narrow down the native population.
Amherst found out about outbreaks in the area and got the idea. The following quote is what he
wrote to Bouquet, " Could it not be contrived to send the smallpox among the disaffected tribes of
Indians? We must on this occasion use every stratagem in our power to reduce them." He went on to
say how he will try to sicken them by infecting the blankets. The letters went back and forth
between the two discussing the plan. (Doc 3) and (Doc 5). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They also said trader William Trent wrote in his journal about the situation. He wrote that two
blankets and a handkerchief out of the smallpox hospital were given to the Native Americans. This
was also shown through military hospital records that reported two blankets and a handkerchief
were taken. These two examples are proof that they intentionally gave the disease to the Natives.

Creative Ways to Divide a Shared Kid's Bedroom

  • 1. Creating A Shared Bedroom For Kids When boys and girls in a family exceed the number of available bedrooms, it becomes necessary to look for creative ways to divide a shared space. This is especially challenging with a boy and girl must share the same bedroom, but it can be done with a few clever decorating tips and tricks. Consider the following creative ways to divide a shared bedroom for kids, and give the kids sharing a room their very own area to sleep, play, and dress in their own private space. Begin with Paint When searching for creative ways to divide and decorate a shared bedroom for kids, begin by making a dramatic statement with color. To define and divide the shared space, apply two colors to divide the bedroom in half. For example, if a girl and a boy must share a bedroom, paint half of the room a cool shade of blue. Paint the other half of the shared bedroom a soft shade of lilac. This works well if the colors share the same intensity. Use a measuring tape and a level to determine each half of the shared bedroom, and divide it with painter 's tape for a neat and clean edge. The shared room will have a unique and impressive look that will give each child a space to call their own. Visually Divide a Shared Room with Window Treatments When a window is in the center of a shared wall painted two different colors, maintain the look by using two different colors of the same style of window treatments. Buy two sets of the same curtains and valances in colors that will coordinate well with the two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Children With Leukemia One day while reading the paper, Karen Loucks, the founder of Project Linus, discovered an article on a young girl who was diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. She had a security blanket that she took with her to two years of intensive chemotherapy. When she began chemo, 97% of her bone marrow had cancerous cells. Chemo rid this child of cancer, but she still endures nausea, loss of hair, and high fevers. After reading about the leukemia patient in the paper, she decided to go to the Rocky Mountain Children's Cancer Center with six freshly crocheted blankets. She decided to present the idea to a man named Dr. Edward Arenson. He loved the idea, and took her to children receiving infusions. Each of them took one for themselves, receiving comfort from this object. After delivering the blankets, Karen asked Ed to estimate how many children he sees a year, and he said about 100. On the drive home, she decided to make an organization for children in the Rocky Mountain Children's Hospital that would donate blankets to those struggling through their experience with cancer. When she told her crocheting group, The Hooker's Club, about this idea, a woman by the name of Shirley Hardin decided to donate the first blanket to the cause. After that one donation, the organization began to take off! Karen decided to go to the local newspaper press and get Project Linus in the newspaper. Sure enough, the next week, there was an article on Project Linus, saying what the organization does for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Should Students Be Allowed To Bring Their Blanket To... Trinity Hamer Ela 2 Mrs. Robertson Dec. 1 2016 Students are losing work time due to being cold. Should students be able to bring their blankets to school with them? Why or why not? If we allow students to bring their blankets to school with them then there's going to be less kids stressed out about their work because they'll be content and soothed. There's going to be less students who will be late to school in the mornings because they won't be freaking out on what they should wear to match the different temperatures throughout the school. There is the possibly if we allow students to bring blankets to school that it will get other kids around them get off topic or get themself off topic because they'll be more focused on what's going on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The group feels that students shouldn't be able to bring their blankets to school with them because students around them or themself will become off topic because more kids will be focused on what's going on with the blankets. This group feels that by allowing blanket use in the classroom, students would actually get bad grades. With that argument made students who bring their blankets are going to cause other around them to get bad grades on their assignments because they won't have a clue on what's going on in class, the kids who have blankets will cause problems for others who are trying to do what their told. Some feel that the students who bring their blankets will fall asleep due to being too comfortable during their school hours, causing them to lose out on getting work done and they'll fall behind the rest of the class. With students becoming more tired because of having their blankets then they're more likely to get bad grades, fall behind, be confused on what's going on, in class, and even distract the other students around them who actually want to get their work ... • 7. Analysis Of Floyd 's ' The Blanket ' Floyd Dell's "The Blanket" is a story about family and relationships; it is about Petey's family. Petey is a grandson who loves his grandfather dearly. He tries to behave like an adult and saves his grandfather from a lonely life in an old folk's home. The relationship between Petey and his dad got strained because his dad was sending his grandfather away in order to marry a women that Petey did not like. The events in the story are presented by the author in chronological order. The author introduces the main characters and the setting of the story at the beginning. The story takes place on a fine September night, under a silver moon outside on the porch of Petey's home. "I'll get my fiddle," said the grandfather to his grandson Petey, "and play ye some of the old tunes." Instead the grandfather brings a big, expensive, double blanket, that is red with black cross stripes which is a going away present from his son, Petey's dad. Petey's feelings are stirred because he knows that it is the last night he will be spending with his grandfather as he will be sent away in the morning. He sadly realized this when he saw the blanket. He wanted to cry but at the age of eleven, he felt that he was too old to do so. The grandfather played many old songs on his fiddle that reflect the joys and sorrows the family have experienced together. This shows the reader that the grandfather experiences a deep internal conflict. He probably experiences sadness and a little regret because he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Critique Of The Striped Blanket The Striped Blanket In 1911 Louie B. Felt was walking through the park when she saw a handicapped child. After seeing the handicapped child it inspired Louie to dedicate a hospital to help children. That hospital is now called Primary Children's Hospital. Thousands of individual children receive extraordinary care each year at Primary Children's, provided in an atmosphere of love. Primary Children's Hospital had been serving in the Salt lake City area since the early twentieth centuries. The hospital first began as a church sponsored organization that opened a 33 bed facility. The 33 bed facility opened in an old home that was located across the road form the Latter Day Saints temple square. When the hospital first opened its doors it was called the LDS hospital due to the fact that it was sponsored by the LDS church( History–Primary Children's Hospital). When the children would have their surgeries they would be done at the main hospital and soon after they were done they would be moved to the primary facility to heal. If a patient was critically ill or chronic they would be hospitalized in the main hospital. If the patient was hospitalized the parents would rarely get to see their child which was heartbreaking. Parents weren't allowed to see their child due to the chance of infections or diseases. When the hospital first opened it had to be very careful with diseases because medicine was not as advanced as it is now. (History–Primary Children's Hospital). In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Blankets For Hope Community Analysis As individuals we are only a small part of a bigger picture, however we all have the capability of making a huge impact. Two years ago I created a club named Blankets for Hope, an organization that provides warm blankets for the homeless. It began when I decided to volunteer at the Rose Parade. Scattered across the sidewalks and under makeshift tents, were an untold amount of curled up bodies. Although shocking to my eyes, the city's residents walked past them as if they were just part of the daily scenery. Refusing to accept the site, I was moved to begin Blankets for Hope. While the club is small in size, the impact it had not only the community, but on myself is large. Blankets for Hope is the tool which I use to share my desire to build a strong community. Through giving out handmade blankets at homeless shelters, I can connect the public together to find strength and hope in one another. This club has a special place in my heart because it also deepened my personal relationships with friends and family. Hangouts on the weekends consisting of mindless video games and silent movie nights were replaced with blanket making and genuine conversations. In addition, Blankets for Hope allowed me to further unite like–minded peers who want to utilize their time and efforts to help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Blankets for Hope is just a small helping hand in the grand scheme of things. Personally, I proudly view this club as not small, but rather a stepping stone. This club has provided me with skills that in the future I will be able unlock the potential I contain as not just a leader, but as a student, employee, or coworker. I plan on carrying out my desire to strengthen the community around me throughout life–inside and out the classroom. My experience with Blankets for Hope showed me that I am not bounded by doubts or fears of not succeeding. Rather I am driven by my ambitions, my confidence, and my ... • 13. Blankets In First Nation Connotations Throughout the centuries, the gift of a blanket has been associated with feelings of warmth, respect and kindness from those giving a blanket towards those receiving it. Our article below covers just a few of the aspects that come to mind when we give a blanket as a gift or even when we dream about blankets in a dream or see one in a vision of sorts. Blankets In First Nation Connotations Depending on the particular first nation identity, such as Dakota, or even down to specific tribes within a first nation, the blanket may mean something different from one national identity to another. Moreover, they may be given during different times for various reasons. For instance, a respected Teton Sioux elder may choose to wrap a wool blanket around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, the spirit of the father transfers to the younger who then passes it on to perhaps a misunderstood child later on in life. Essentially, with the mere laying on of a blanket on their shoulders or on their backs, an adoption process takes place; moreover, the family and tribe grows with subsequent members who then become part of the community. Blanket–Giving In Other Cultures Once again, depending on the culture in which blankets are given, blankets become talismans and take on a spiritual dimension especially when worn in some dance ritual. Blankets can symbolize transitions in life such as weddings, graduations or new additions to a family. They can also mean legendary events, stories and the culture's heritage. As such, they express a form of craftsmanship, artistry, history and the represented culture itself. Blankets can even facilitate travel by transferring the spirits of those who gave them as companions on a distance journey. In some South African and Lesotho cultures, blankets mark rites of passage. In certain parts of China, blankets are among the most cherished gifts that are commonly given. For the Australian and New Zealand Aboriginals, they believe that the giving of blankets initiates a stream of good dreams and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. The Documentary ' The Blanket ' The blanket was a scratchy, uncomfortable, way too heavy, and the color of pepto bismol. Still, it smelled like him and so Nico tightened the wool fabric around himself. Somewhere in the distance he could hear the sound of a television playing. Was it his? The TV was always on wasn't it? But the sound was so distorted it couldn't possibly in the lounge with him. If the TV were on in here, it wouldn't sound like it was underwater. The TV couldn't possibly be on. Except the TV was on, something Nico found out when he looked up from his now cold pasta to find a news anchor on the screen. "He's dead." Nico's voice was stronger than he expected, but shaky nonetheless. "I'm sorry if my moping is bothering you, but my boyfriend is dead and it's my fault." Derek was obviously exasperated by this speech. Jason's suicide was the only thing Nico had talked about since it happened. He removed himself from the table and walked to the other side of the room. "It's his fault, technically," Derek insisted, picking at his nails like the topic bored him. "I mean he's the one who pulled the trigger." The image of Jason's lifeless body bleeding out on the floor of their bedroom flashed across Nico's mind. Something was making it harder to breathe, something constricting his chest, every time he thought about walking home to their shared apartment, only to find his boyfriend dead, his desk empty save for the note with Nico's name written on it. The note, the last remaining piece of Jason Grace, it tore Nico's heart to shreds. Jason had known, of course he'd known, he always knew. But he stayed silent, allowing Nico to drive the dagger in more. And Derek, god, Derek was still here, standing in the lounge, standing in his place. "He killed himself because I was sleeping with you." Not that Derek needed a reminder. He was well aware of why Jason offed himself. It was written there on the letter, in plain black ink. No questions remained. None of his friends offered their consolations, why should they? Nico doesn't blame them.

  • 18. Descriptive Essay About Bamboo Bedding How Bamboo Bedding Keeps You Cozy on a Frosty Winter Night It's that time of year again. The leaves are changing to brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows, painting the landscape in the beautiful glow of fall. Yet, autumn leaves also mean that winter is right around the corner. With chilly nights ahead, what type of bedding should you use to stay warm this winter? Well, if you want to stay cozy and warm this winter, try organic bamboo bedding. Below are some ways bamboo bedding helps to keep you cozy on a frosty winter night. First, bamboo bedding is fantastic at insulating heat. Second, bamboo bedding reduces the level of humidity in your bed. Third, bamboo bedding decreases your chances of disease. Forth and finally, bamboo bedding is incredibly soft and smooth. Insulates Heat To start with, bamboo bedding is phenomenal at insulating heat, making it the ideal bedding for winter weather. This organic bedding insulates heat because the fibers of bamboo are dense and thick. In fact, they have an almost plush feel to them. Furthermore, when you're wrapped up in a bamboo comforter, you feel like you're being embraced by a warm, plush cloud. Additionally, bamboo bedding doesn't need to be bulky to keep you warm. For instance, bamboo comforters don't need tons of layers since bamboo efficiently insulates heat. This helps bamboo bedding to be lighter and lay flatter than traditional bedding. Before you ever ride, or tack up your horse, you always have to know if the horse is ready, willing, and responsive to you on the ground, then you can start. If he or she is not willing or responsive to you when you are on the ground, he or she will not respect you when you are riding. Make sure the horse knows the terms walk, trot, canter, and whoa, or any terms you use in replace of walk, trot, or woah, it will be a lot easier for you, and the horse will understand more. If you do, and you're not paying a lot of attention, and your foal/yearling/mare/stallion/gelding spooks and runs, you're going with him. • 22. Electric Blanket Advantages And Disadvantages An electric blanket has an electrical heating device built in that is meant to be placed above the bed sheet. In Commonwealth countries, however, it refers to an electric mattress pad that is kept below the bottom bed sheet. They comprise a control unit that allows the user to adjust the heat produced by the device. Larger size beds may even have two separate control units for both sides of the bed. An electric blanket can be useful to heat the bed to a certain level before sleeping to keep the occupant cosy and warm. Typical low voltage electric blankets work on 12–24 volts and are made of thin carbon fibre wires. If two candidates have the majority of the vote, they run against each other in a run off regardless of their party affiliation. It might be counter–intuitive, then, to say the adults in the book are important: this is supposed to be Craig's story. But as we grow up, the people who most influence us are the adults in our lives. They give us advice and they become the role models that we either accept or reject. As a teenager, Craig feels absolutely confused about whom to become, and it's worth noting that much of that confusion comes from the adults in his life. By giving us this story through his own eyes, portraying people and events as he experienced them at the time, he helps to emphasize the sources of that confusion. Of course, Craig's parents are the most important adults in his life. We see them most often in flashbacks to his childhood. Who better to influence him? • 55. Personal Narrative Essay : Getting Old No one ever thinks about what they are going to do when they are old. Getting old is just a way of life that no one thinks about until it's too late. It all started when we went to Kentucky for our traditional dinner at grans. I adored the trip up to Gran's home, just for the fact that it was in the middle of nowhere and we got to pass three sparkling waterfalls. There was always a game of "first one to find a deer wins", which was quite self explanatory if you ask me. I would always lose because I was always too tired to stay up the entire ride. I don't know how I did it, but every time I would wake up, we would be turning onto my Gran's street. The first thing I remember seeing on this peculiar trip was how all the adults were by the pond instead of being inside in the house with the warm fire. I wanted to go see what was going on, yet when I tried to investigate the gloom mood, my father told me to go inside and say hello to the other children of the family. Being young as I was, I thought nothing of the situation and I rushed inside to greet my cousins. I was startled when I walked into the house to see a man in a wheelchair staring off into the vast nothingness. I didn't recognize the man at first, but as I passed him he looked at me. In exactly that moment, I saw my grandfather in that chair. I was beyond confused as to why he looked to way he did. I stood there for five minutes even though it felt like like hours. I refused to believe it was him, since just a short year ago he was a healthy, strong, and courageous man. Memories flooded my mind like a raging storm. I saw the pastor that everyone looked up to. I remembered how immersed he would become with his prayers. My favorite sermon he performed was at my sister's wedding. All he had was an index card, yet he knew exactly what he needed to say. Everyone in the audience was pulled into his words that we barely noticed it started to lightly rain, and that he went over about twenty extra minutes. • 69. Security Blanket Research Paper Similarly to younger children, I had a security blanket. While the security blanket ordinarily symbolizes another object cherished by children, my security blanket was literally two infant–sized blankets. From when I was born to about seven years old, I dragged around two blankets; they were discolored and rarely washed. One afternoon, I was clutching my blankets while sitting in the middle of the family room. As I hugged my blankets, a brilliant idea came into my head. I had decided the blankets would catch the air and float well if thrown in the air. It was amusing until I held onto the pastel yellow blanket for slightly too long. The blanket hurled toward the mantel and then caught the air and started floating downward. My mother had a majestic angel on the mantel; it was given to her from my great– grandmother. The angel decided she wanted to fly. The blanket ended up serving as a broken parachute for her; they both catapulted to the ground and the angel shattered. Luckily my mother was at work, and my grandma was watching me. She just gave a stern look, but helped me clean up the remains of the angel. After cleaning up the mess, my grandma ... Instead, she scolded for a second and told me to be more careful; she was also concerned if I was cut from the angel's glass. But then we hugged and she said I was worth more than her angel. Even though my mother had every right to punish me, she showed mercy. She realized that I was just a child and it was an accident. My mother showed love and forgiveness instead of holding a grudge for something I did not intend. Early in life, this allowed me to learn that accidents happen. Showing them love and forgiveness is a greater alternative than punishing the individual for something they did not do on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Blankets, By Craig Thompson The graphic novel Blankets, by Craig Thompson, is an emotionally charged and painfully truthful account of the author's life as he grew from a young child through the stages of adolescence to young adulthood. Thompson's account of his life events represents many developmental theories and philosophies. Bronfenbrenner's theory of systems, Vygotsky's social development theory, Marcia's theory of the identity, Arnett's theory of emerging adulthood, and Kraft's theory of the family system are all seen throughout Craig's life. Urie Bronfenbrenner presented his theory of ecological systems in 1979. In his theory, Bronfenbrenner claims that there are four systems that work in concert with one another to affect the behavior of an individual (Lobb, 2016). The four systems that Bronfenbrenner posed were the microsystem, relatable to one's home, the mesosystem, considered one's home and school, the exosystem, which are organizations outside of school, and the macrosystem, which involves the government. While the fourth system is not quite present in Craig's life, the other three are readily recognizable. As to the microsystem, it can be observed from his home life that Craig's family is of a low socioeconomic status. Pictures from pages 10 and 11 show that Craig and his brother were forced to share the same bed as children and that the furniture of their room, specifically the lamp seen on page 11, was not in pristine condition. Furthering the notion that Craig's family fell within a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Smallpox Blankets Dbq Smallpox blankets were intentionally used to infect Native Americans during the French and Indian war. These blankets were given to them from the British as a way to get rid of them, so they can win the war and eventually get more land. By giving the infected blankets to the Natives they accomplished their goal. There is a significant amount of evidence that proves this such as letters, records from the smallpox hospital, documents from William Trent during the time of giving the blankets, and practice of inoculation. Biological warfare was used against the Natives according to the letters from Jeffery Amherst to Colonel Henry Bouquet suggesting the use of smallpox to narrow down the native population. Amherst found out about outbreaks in the area and got the idea. The following quote is what he wrote to Bouquet, " Could it not be contrived to send the smallpox among the disaffected tribes of Indians? We must on this occasion use every stratagem in our power to reduce them." He went on to say how he will try to sicken them by infecting the blankets. The letters went back and forth between the two discussing the plan. (Doc 3) and (Doc 5). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also said trader William Trent wrote in his journal about the situation. He wrote that two blankets and a handkerchief out of the smallpox hospital were given to the Native Americans.
